I went to Abhis last night and was extremely impressed by the food and service. We had a king prawn curry and a chicken curry. The king prawn curry had the perfect balance of spice and tanginess whilst the chicken curry was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The garlic naan and the biriyani rice were the perfect accompaniments to soften the spiciness of both curries whilst offering two different textural components . We finished the meal with a mango lassi which cleansed the pallet and left us completely satisfied. The meal cost less then $70 which is reasonable for the quality and portion size of the dishes. Would definitely recommend Abhis to others as its one of the best Indian dinning places in Sydney.
Just come back from a holiday in northern India and the food at Abhi’s is just as good! It bought me back to being on holidays.

The fried spinach dish is nicer than it sounds, can recommend this dish along with with papadums and the dips you can have with them.
Service however is a bit lacking (I had to walk up to the kitchen) and too many seats cramped makes the experience more noisy. Perhaps in quieter times this place would be more of a pleasant experience.

What strikes me first stepping in here is the friendly and warm service.
As much as i wanted the keema dosa (reccommended by a friend to me), i went for the fish curry and boyfriend got the chicken Makhni, which we later found ot it was butter chicken :p the fish was a bit mushy and fishy, but the chicken was very smokey and juicy.
The food is flavourful, aromatic and comes in good portion. Although the price point is a bit high, the vibe and experience is good.
There are definitely other things we want to try on the menu, and we will return :)
Really good Indian fine dining restaurant. Some unique menu items that were on the upmarket side (and priced accordingly). Good friendly service. Unfortunately for me, virtually all of the menu items are moderately spicy, so not so great for kids who can't handle chili. There is a spacious upstairs section and some interesting decor
Very good service and super nice food. Highly recommend the goat curry, top notch. Naan is so nice and soft. Deserves more attention for sure. Definitely gonna come back very soon.
I have eaten there thrice now. Heading next time with some mates, love the food, customer service and wine list. Riesling by the class is amazing. Chiken tikka with mint chutney is highly recommended.

It’s hard to believe that three years have passed since I was at Abhi’s Indian celebrating their first quarter century. The restaurant is still as popular as ever, both with North Strathfield locals and blow-ins like me, who consider Kumar Mahadevan’s inspired Indian dishes worth the trip. The highlight of this visit was a Seafood Moily ($27.80) from the Kerala region of Southern India. Beautifully cooked scallops join ling fillets and prawns in a soupy golden coconut curry flavoured with turmeric, fresh curry leaves and whole mustard seeds that pop on your tongue. It’s savoury and compelling particularly over Kashmiri Pilau ($3.80) dotted with dried fruit and nuts. Rice at Abhi’s is served individually, and the serves really are predicated upon you actually needing a bowl each, so we added on a Plain Rice ($3.50) to eat with our second curry. We have eaten at Abhis twice now and both times did not disappoint. Great customer service, excellent food and a lively atmosphere. Can’t wait to our next visit.

For a table of 3 we ordered the salt and pepper calamari, the butter chicken, the lam biryani and also some naan bread.
The salt and pepper calamari was so soft and tender, but with a crispy coating. The calamari on its own is delicious but their accompanying sauce adds a lovely hit of spice.
The butter chicken is always a winner and we love scooping up the gravy with their naan bread. The naan bread felt quite dense unfortunately.
The lamb biryani was not bad but probably not a must order compared with biryani elsewhere. Those who prefer milder levels of spice may find it has too much heat, do enjoy with the accompanying raita.
Overall it was a very filling and satisfying meal, service was great. I would like to return to try other dishes in the future, including their dosa.
Abhi is in the Entertainment book where you'll get one complimentary main with another main ordered. It also takes part in the Dimmi promotion with Amex.
Orders weekend special lamp briyani and masala dosa. Both are upto the point and taste delicious. Briyani is spicy but still not very hot. Dosa chutneys are something I will go again.
In the deserts we order kulfi which was way too sweet and taste ok ok. Only reason I have given 4 star.

Simply delicious Indian food with a modern twist. All the classic flavours and dishes are there but they have been more refined and are all beautifully presented. Couldn’t really fault any of the dishes we had. The chickpea spinach fritters and paneer tikka masala entrees were so tasty. Seafood moily curry, veggie curry, dahl, naan bread, roti all great too. Our young kids loved it all too. Attentive and friendly service. Highly recommend Abhis. We have been a few times and will be back.
Generally as per my experience of indian restaurants in sydney either you can get nice ambience or awesome food. But this experience had an exception when we came to Abhi's. Very lovely, cozy ambience and hands down one of the the most satisfying Indian food we have had. Dishes we tried palak patta chaat, tikka nimbuda, paneer tikka, Hyderabad Murg, garlic naan, veggie pulao and double ka meetha. Couldn't fault a single dish. Everything was just perfect. Hyderabad Murgon, veggie pulao and palak patta chat were the highlights. Great service and very attentive staff. Would recommend it 100 times😄

Abhi’s is a Sydney institution and never disappoints. Don’t miss their Palak Patta Chaat, Cocktail Masala Dosa, Aloo Tikki and Ennai Kathrikai. Good service and great for groups. BYO wine only.

This had to be one of the most satiating Indian meals I’ve had at a restaurant. I had a masala dosa & the potato palya stuffing was perfect in taste and portion. My partner had the chilli prawns and scallops - said it was beautifully cooked, very fresh and the chilli was just right. For lunch we ordered the Lunch special - Hyderabadi Lamb Biryani . I will say, this has to be the best Biryani I’ve eaten in a while. The flavours were so perfectly balanced , each grain of rice separate . No over done masala , or heavy feeling after eating it…the lamb pieces were bite sized and cooked to perfection . One of the few times I actually ate the meat too . Dessert, again was awesome . The Rose kulfi is fantastic , you can tell it’s all fresh and made in-house. Compliments to the Chefs there today. And lastly , we had fantastic service from Mr.Praveen who looked after us very well . We used to go to AKI’s often and I really missed it when it shut. And though its the same owner, was unsure if Abhi’s would be as good. Let me just say, if anything , this was even better !
Went here for dinner. Ordered palak patta chaat and chef's special masala paneer tikka which was phenomenal and probably the best paneer tikka I've had in a long time! It had a smoky flavour, was cooked to the right texture which so many get wrong with paneer tikka and the marinade flavours were beautiful so much that it tasted perfect by itself without the chutney accompaniment. With vege mains I wasn't sure what to get as there was not much option that I couldn't cook at home. Got the veg kurma which was nice, but did not taste traditional. We got double ka meetha for dessert and it did not disappoint, far from it! The Rose icecream was delish and had lovely subtle flavours...really well put together. Would recommend entrees and dessert here :-)
We drove past Abhi’s on a Thursday night and saw it was packed so decided to try it a few days later. We were not disappointed! Lovely welcoming staff and atmosphere, relatively quick food service and probably the best Indian I’ve ever had. Super tasty, fresh and doesn’t leave you with that overly full feeling. A little more expensive than standard Indian restaurants, but I think the quality reflects that. Highly recommend the prawn and scollop entree. Will definitely be back.
