A friend of mine had recommended this as a famous chain in China and hence tried out . The Greenwood Plaza place had only opened for take aways , had ordered chicken dumplings and found them good and juicy. Well made, will visit again .
Din Tai Fung food court outlets for me sit between a food court and a restaurant. The quality of food is fantastic - they make it fresh and you therefore wait longer than picking something from the window but it is worth it. I had the Kung Pao chicken and cashew and it was beautiful. Flavours balanced, a kick of chilli and exactly what I had hoped for. A nice bubble tea on the side and red bean paste bun for dessert. Perfect Asian meal for my white boy taste buds ha ha ha. Would recommend without hesitation and apart from the wait I had no other negatives
Was good without being great. Two of my dumplings were split. Very fast service. Wouldn’t go there for anything but a passing snack. Get there!
I do like Din Tai Fung and this is our closest branch. I like the setting here as it's cornered off and it's bright because of the glass roof. Tried a few dishes here but my favourites are Xiao Long Bao and Dan Dan noodles. Quick service. Since I don't work around here, I tend to come here on Saturdays and it's not usually very busy.
Essentially a jazzed up food court offer. It is quite convenient for a quick lunch option. The food though did take a bit of time to be ready. I got my usual order of xiao long bao, hot & sour soup, and a cold soy milk. The xiao long bao tasted good, despite looking a bit sad, but expensive given u only get 4. The hot & sour soup had plenty of fillings in the soup, and had the right balance of spicy & sour. Overall, good, but would be better if not for the wait & price.
Like din tai fung and this is similar to the other franchises
Best dishes imo are the xiao lung bao, the soup is nice and hot and pairs well with the pork insides. Make sure u pick it up delicately or the soup will spill
Def recommend
Have tried various Chinese restaurants around Sydney. Din tai fung seems to be fabulous one. Dumplings are perfectly cooking with fresh soup. Xiao Long Bao are perfect. We really enjoyed them.
…but sadly they weren’t quite as good as the Shrimp and pork Jiao zi $9.80 or steamed pork dumplings xiao long Bao $5.80. I also ordered the Steamed mini bun with red bean – $1.90. …but again, it wasn’t as good as the savoury pork bun. The Green bean with minced pork and dried shrimp $11.80 looked pretty good as a share dish…for another time perhaps.
People who know, always seem to tell me that Din Tai Fung’s dumplings are the very best…and having now experienced them for myself, I absolutely agree. Din Tai Fung is not fancy, it’s more ‘food court’….but it’s fun. And fortunately there’s several Din Tai Fungs spread around Syndey, in Star City, Westfied on Pitt Street, World Square on George Street and Blue Street/Millet Street in Greenwood Plaza attached to North Sydney Station.
The cruelest place to open up Din Tai Fung. Easy access to and from North Sydney station in Greenwood plaza. Walking past Din Tai Fung everyday......i... must....resist.....!
I regularly post pictures to the facebook page however noticed I never really made a post about it. So here's my short post! Enjoy.
I love standing at the window watching them make their dumplings! (I hope I'm not spooking them out).
