“Bao” is the literal pronunciation of Chinese word 包 meaning a white steamed bun made from flour. It has been a staple food in China and other Asian countries for centuries but has become quite a cult food in Australia in recent years. Think sandwich but, instead of bread, steamed buns are used to seal the filling in the centre. Minced pork, vegetables and red bean paste are traditional Bao fillings in China but these days anything can be sandwiched between the buns including soft shell crab, Peking duck and karaage chicken: you are only limited by your imagination.
I really like this place. Not only because it's the only place serving Baos in North Sydney, also because the food is really nice! You can tell they put a lot of effect to make this place work. I really enjoyed my Baos and my coffee. Will definitely come back again;)
A brand new Bao shop in North Sydney that is predominately Baos. I found this on Concrete Playground, there so many Baos on the menu. The crunchy fried chicken one is amazing!.
