Great service. Great food. They work very well under the pressure of Taco Tuesday, despite all of the Northcote wankers only caring about themselves. Myself and my daughter/s come here often. I highly recommend!

Tasty Mexican in a relaxed, colourful environment. I often frequent gringo vibes for a sit in or takeaway lunch deal which for just over $10 you get a burrito (meat and beans of your choice), corn chips and a drink (soft drink/water). The enchiladas are also really good!

This place earns a passionate 5* from me! The food is hearty, decor shabby, cheery chic, and staff no fuss, but excellent. Don't go here expecting crafty and artisan Mexican fare a la Mama Sita, as their style is of the more straight down the line, filling and delicious variety. In saying that, the flavours and ingredients always seem to be well thought out, and fresh. The nachos have to be the BEST value in Melbourne - the servings are HUGE so watch out. They come with olives (novel!) and heaps of avo, sour cream drizzle (?) and veg with thick corn chips of the decidedly not Doritos variety. They also have heaps of vegan and faux meat options. The quesedillas with spinach and garlic are also good. Make sure you try the elote (corn cobs mmmm), swill a jug of Sangria, then buy a massive jar of Tapatio and head to K-Mart at the Plaza for some drunk decor shopping.
This place is such a beautiful restaurant. Love the food and the vibes. Feel like you’re setting in someone backyard drinking margaritas and eating nachos.
We came around 6pm on a Tuesday night. A lot of tables were reserved but thankfully there were a table available for us. So definitely call to book a reservation.
Tuesday is had specials which included discount jugs and $3 tacos! Can’t complain but the ‘jugs’ didn’t include the Sangria which is kind of misleading.
So we ordered the one Mexican beef taco, nachos, a chicken quesadilla as well a jug of sangria, which was approximately $60. I thought it was fairly reasonable.
The nachos were delicious and there was plenty of salsa and guacamole. The Mexican beef in the taco was tender. The quesadilla were also scrumptious.
I think the service was okay but overall a good place to go for Mexican!
My partner and I had dinner here and really enjoyed it. We ordered some nachos, a pulled pork burrito and a marinated chicken quesadilla and thoroughly enjoyed everything. Service was great too.
My tip would be to order less than you think you'd need as the serving sizes are huge (we couldn't finish everything).
Gringo vibes is a great restaurant with amazing, filling food. The flavours are incredible. I like the enchiladas, I've had them a few times. I also enjoy the stuffed jalapenos. I have heard the burritos are good but personally have not tried (not gf). It would be nice to have a choice of a fresh salad instead of all the heavy sides on the plate. Id love that rice and a salad of some sort so you dont leave feeling like you've got a rock in your stomach. Just a personal thought though, the plate is definitely too much, it calls for something refreshing.
Tequila samplers are awesome so as margaritas. Must try infused chilli margarita. Be careful as it is very HOT! Love the nachos, quesadillas and burrito. All delicious and big size. So make sure you have big appetite! Love the environment.
Place was full on a Saturday night- recommend booking. Great casual vibe, not fancy, exactly what you'd expect on high st northcote. Serves were very generous for the large nachos- struggled to get through them, and seasoning on the elote was spot on!
Amazing Mexican Vegan food! Full of flavors and perfectly cooked! The place was fully booked, I sit with my partners on the couch in the backyard lounge was pretty chill! But this food was so good, warm my heart and my stomach! Was sensational! I'll highly raccomand!
The pulled pork quesadilla was amazing and portions are large! Worth the 1 hour wait which was a bit annoying but they asked if we wanted to get additional drinks on the house as compensation. We said we were good, they asked if we wanted anything else. When we said nah, they discounted our bill! That was cool of them. Definitely will be back because of the food, but maybe at a quieter time.
Absolutely loved this place. It's a small restaurant that makes authentic Mexican food. The colours are vibrant with the decore, music was relaxed and cool and had lots of options on the menu. I ordered Vegan Soft Tacos with Vegan Nachos and both made me drool with each heavenly bite. I never usually finish my plate but I was so satisfied with these dishes I will definately be back! The place is a little small but food is great - coming from someone that despises Mexican food. The serving sizes are massive but so cheap so didnt even come close to finishing it but very much worth it.
The first time I came here, the vegan option was just to take off the non vegan ingredients. That is one of my biggest pet peeves... but thats for a whole different post! The food was pretty tasty but kind of spenno, so I was kinda like meh.
I have come more recently and decided to give Gringo Vibes another go... SO. MANY. VEGAN. OPTIONS. NOW. I dont mind having to pay extra for them as the portions are gianormous! Tasty, really love the outdoor seating and the vibe of Gringo Vibes.

The most incredible tacos we have ever eaten! So consistent every time. Gluten free corn tortilla that is soft and fresh. We were locals but now drive to Northcote just for this yummy food.
This is hands down the best Mexican I have had in Melbourne so far. It is such good value for money and I love how they have mock meat and vegan cheese which can be added to any of the meals! The nachos and burritos are the only two things I have tried but they are amazing and I will definitely continue to come back here!

Had the mock chicken enchiladas last night with refried beans and vegan cheese - best thing I've eaten all year.
Oh my goodness! What a fabulous burrito! On fact I might go as far as to say the beat burrito I have ever had in my life! I got the classic bean and cheese burrito, minus cheese, plus mock chicken and guacamole and it was heavenly! Biggest, most jam packed, most delicious burrito ever!
My friend and I both got vegan burritos and LOVED them. Tasty and Massive. Not super cheap but worth it! Best burrito of my life. I got the bean and cheese burrito with refried beans and no cheese or sour cream and I added spinach and garlic and veggie chicken
Great casual dining at Gringo Vibes in Northcote, serving Mexican foods. Prompt service and friendly staff. Vegan options on offer too.
Enjoyed the Elote (corn 🌽); vegan nachos as starters. Followed by mains which were large servings ~ taco 🌮 beef and pulled pork flavours; Cheese Quaesadillas with Mexican beef; vegan Cheese Quaesadillas with mock chicken and vegan Enchiladas with mock chicken. Sauce on the Enchiladas was overpowering least of our favourite dishes.
Sangria in a jug was great too.
Come out here on a regular basis, nice place to chill out, love the skull theme and pics, also has a beer garden out back.

Sensational simple Mexican food! We had quesadilla, and burritos for mains and shared some stuffed jalapeños and the eloté. The food tasted fresh and had a comforting homemade taste. Hard to choose a favourite but the house made corn chips are well worth a mention! The Agua Fresca was refreshing too. The staff were friendly and accomodating. Thank you! We will be back.
Had dinner here last night first time here had the fish burrito was so good they make there own corn chips which are good as well,the only thing I didn't like was every time you order something you have to go to the front counter so your up and down a lot other than that it was good

We loved our late night takeaway nacho binge!!! The staff are super friendly and we'll definitely go back. Also the portion was huge and we barely had the means to finish them. But they were so good, we got there in the end.
This place is not your fancy deconstructed food type of place. This place uses authentic ingredients with one (thankfully for some of us) ingredient optional in most dishes - chili, or jalapeño.
The nachos with their proper corn tortillas, the burrito with its slow cooked salted beef and the enchilada with its mole sauce, are all replicas of what you would find in a Mexican eatery in south Mexico - nothing too fancy, just nice food.
Well, third or fourth time at Vibes. This is fast becoming our favorite place to procure Mexican comestables. Food is always perfect. It's cheaper Taco Bill's and a lot more authentic...totes. Seriously. Like they're just divine (and I say that with a long history of staunch heterosexuality, not that there's anything wrong with that...some of my best friends are LGBTQIMMORPGASAPIOIO....) Anyway, sorry I don't know how much alcohol they put in my Dark and Stormy...but they didn't skimp. The food was excellent as always. However, in a rare miss they forgot to heat up my chicken burrito. So just shy of a perfect score this time. To their credit they heated it up promptly. Oh what the heck: 👑👑👑👑👑
Great food at a good price! A relaxed, fun vibe with great staff, I know I will always leave here with a full belly! They do the best quesadilla and if you are a Nutella lover.. Then you MUST try the sweet tooth - Tortilla, strawberries and LOTS of Nutella!!!
Great selection of veg/gluten free options. Recommend you reserve a table in advance as it can get quite busy on some days. Staff is always nice and helpful. The courtyard is good for when you want to come with your dog. I scrolled through the existing 'Reviews' and have to admit that we absolute love the Gringo Vibes Nachos. Food gets served relatively fast.

Nice little find in the more quiet end of High Street. Deceptively large as they have several seating areas including a great little court yard. Not a huge selection of Mexican beers but had a few basics. The food was tasty, service prompt and professional and affordable.
I love Gringo Vibes!! The place is great. We sat in the beer garden but there are lots of lovely, unique spaces to eat in the restaurant. I especially liked the cat that visited. The food is delicious, fresh and satisfying. Lots of vegetarian options. The staff are incredible - friendly, welcoming and make you feel at home. Highly recommend.

Tacos and free cover charge- just the way rock and roll should be. Cheap price of tacos meant we could spend more money on leads and picks for our next gig. At 3 dollars each on a Tuesday night that's cheaper than our next single which you can download from our bandcamp.

Gringo is a classic. Delicious tex-mex style food. Lots of options. Good if you have veggo friends. Cheap beer and lots of hot sauces to choose from.

Emphasis here is on casual, but this doesn't detract from the meal. We encountered friendly if somewhat forgetful service, placed our orders at the counter. Food arrived promptly, and was hot and tasty - very welcome when the weather outside was bitterly cold. Basic range of non-alcoholic drinks, small number of wines and a good choice of beers and cocktails. I was impressed to find one of the 3 red wines was a lovely Heathcote red. All wines were available by the glass or bottle. We shared a plate of Nachos which were tasty although unusual with a sprinkle of cheese, a small dollop of sour cream and guacamole, and a handful of sliced olives on top. Following were chicken and beef tacos for my companions, 2 per serve. The taco filling included a good dollop of beans - when ordering you select either black beans or refried beans. Tacos were soft, and not large. I ordered a chicken quesadilla, and it was a very large meal. The quesadilla filled with a thick layer of cheese, chicken and then topped with another to form a circular sandwich which was cut into 4. The plate was then covered with large portions of beans and tomato rice, which I had no hope of finishing, and a small dob of sour cream and guacamole on top. If you like beans, either black or refried, this is the place for you as every main contained beans (unfortunately not really my thing.) The atmosphere was cheerful, and the restaurant well patronized. Costs were quite reasonable. Recommended.
Mexi-CAN food. It really is one of those rare places in Northcote that still focus on a casual/friendly dining experience and decent sized meals rather than upmarket, 'fine-dining' overpriced puffery. Reggae music, Brunswick bitter, friendly easy-going staff and the best vegan burrito i've ever had. I opted for the bean burrito (minus cheese & sour cream) and added extra guacamole & mock chicken. Huge serve and got a heap of nacho chips on the side which was a pleasant surprise. Help yourself to the amazing Valentina hot sauce they have if you can. Pretty sweet beer garden for summer-time jams and a friendly cat that wanders in the yard to say hello on occasion. Great for post-siesta or pre-fiesta. Stay true G.V.
Awesome burritos. I've been getting take always for lunch, they do a great $10 lunch special. Today I decided to eat in and discovered the beautiful courtyard. Plants, covered roof, couches, heaters... Everything you want out of a beer garden. The staff have always been lovely, burritos huge, (the full sized one is unfinishable for me, the lunch special size, with a can of drink is perfect) fresh and flavoursome, and they come with lovely home made corn chips. And apparently they have 60 kinds of tequila!!
Yummy as always! Regular visitors, never disappoints!

I got the fish tacos and had a doa IPA. Pretty good. I'd go back. Maybe next time I'd like to see the tacos come with something on the side for the $15 it costs but overall I'd recommend u try this place for the good food, friendly service, and atmosphere. U may need to make a booking as we watched them turn away a lot of people due to reserved tables. This was on a Friday night.

Surprisingly good!. I've driven past this place many times but didn't go in until today. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We had the nachos and they were great. Our group could have eaten another one if we hadn't have ordered so many mains. I had a share plate (beef and chicken) tacos. The chicken was good, but was not a big fan of the beef taco. Our group ordered the quesadilla, burrito, and enchilada. Everyone enjoyed there meals and all agreed that we would come back. Not to sure why some of the other reviews complained about the price because this place is very reasonably priced.

The wrap for the burrito was so soft and tasty, would return just to have the wrap. The filling was fresh and tasty too. Coupled with the stuffed jalapeño peppers, it was a great combination.
The quesadillas were toasted beautifully and the cheese filling was truly tasty. The mock chicken was very tasty and flavourful too.
The lunch burrito deal at $10 with a drink is definitely worth going for and even if that wasn’t a thing, the food is worthy of return business. Will most definitely be visiting them again.
UPDATE 15/01/21: Months on and post lockdown, these guys are still serving up gems. Excellent taste and great value for the prices. Keep it up 💯

Perhaps! I consider myself to be a bit of an expert in this cuisine, having been raised in Arizona with Mexican food options all around me. I can absolutely say without a doubt that after five years in Melbourne, this remains my go-to place for fresh, authentic Mexican dishes.
I’m particularly pleased that they cater to my gluten free and vegetarian needs, with the gluten free bean burrito being my favorite dish.
Friendly staff, quick service, vast menu. Highly recommended.
