Great service. Great food. They work very well under the pressure of Taco Tuesday, despite all of the Northcote wankers only caring about themselves. Myself and my daughter/s come here often. I highly recommend!

Excellent hot sauce selection which is a biggy for me.
Also very customisable menu, which is useful if you have picky eaters with you or friends with specific dietary requirements.

Tasty Mexican in a relaxed, colourful environment. I often frequent gringo vibes for a sit in or takeaway lunch deal which for just over $10 you get a burrito (meat and beans of your choice), corn chips and a drink (soft drink/water). The enchiladas are also really good!

all the food is delicious never a disappointment
This place earns a passionate 5* from me! The food is hearty, decor shabby, cheery chic, and staff no fuss, but excellent. Don't go here expecting crafty and artisan Mexican fare a la Mama Sita, as their style is of the more straight down the line, filling and delicious variety. In saying that, the flavours and ingredients always seem to be well thought out, and fresh. The nachos have to be the BEST value in Melbourne - the servings are HUGE so watch out. They come with olives (novel!) and heaps of avo, sour cream drizzle (?) and veg with thick corn chips of the decidedly not Doritos variety. They also have heaps of vegan and faux meat options. The quesedillas with spinach and garlic are also good. Make sure you try the elote (corn cobs mmmm), swill a jug of Sangria, then buy a massive jar of Tapatio and head to K-Mart at the Plaza for some drunk decor shopping.
This place is such a beautiful restaurant. Love the food and the vibes. Feel like you’re setting in someone backyard drinking margaritas and eating nachos.
We came around 6pm on a Tuesday night. A lot of tables were reserved but thankfully there were a table available for us. So definitely call to book a reservation.
Tuesday is had specials which included discount jugs and $3 tacos! Can’t complain but the ‘jugs’ didn’t include the Sangria which is kind of misleading.
So we ordered the one Mexican beef taco, nachos, a chicken quesadilla as well a jug of sangria, which was approximately $60. I thought it was fairly reasonable.
The nachos were delicious and there was plenty of salsa and guacamole. The Mexican beef in the taco was tender. The quesadilla were also scrumptious.
I think the service was okay but overall a good place to go for Mexican!
My partner and I had dinner here and really enjoyed it. We ordered some nachos, a pulled pork burrito and a marinated chicken quesadilla and thoroughly enjoyed everything. Service was great too.
My tip would be to order less than you think you'd need as the serving sizes are huge (we couldn't finish everything).
Gringo vibes is a great restaurant with amazing, filling food. The flavours are incredible. I like the enchiladas, I've had them a few times. I also enjoy the stuffed jalapenos. I have heard the burritos are good but personally have not tried (not gf). It would be nice to have a choice of a fresh salad instead of all the heavy sides on the plate. Id love that rice and a salad of some sort so you dont leave feeling like you've got a rock in your stomach. Just a personal thought though, the plate is definitely too much, it calls for something refreshing.
Good food and variety.. predominantly TexMex cuisine. Prices are fair and decent choice of drinks. Seating is a bit cramped but it is a small restaurant. Service is good and serving time is good. Staff are good as well.. busy at times with normal wait times..
Best Mexican food in Melbourne.
Hadn't had the chance to eat there in years as I have moved up to the hills, came back and was not disappointed at all. 5 stars x
Was greeted and served by lovely man named Jarrad very nice and made me feel very welcome made margaritas and served us food and made us feel very welcome with big smile and big wonderful eyes what can’t he do? Will be back for more great service from Jarrad in future
Had a vegetarian meal here and it was fantastic!
The wrap for the burrito was so soft and tasty, would return just to have the wrap. The filling was fresh and tasty too. Coupled with the stuffed jalapeño peppers, it was a great combination.
The quesadillas were toasted beautifully and the cheese filling was truly tasty. The mock chicken was very tasty and flavourful too.
The lunch burrito deal at $10 with a drink is definitely worth going for and even if that wasn’t a thing, the food is worthy of return business. Will most definitely be visiting them again.
UPDATE 15/01/21: Months on and post lockdown, these guys are still serving up gems. Excellent taste and great value for the prices. Keep it up 💯
Delicious Mexican cuisine with American size portions! A huge range of hot sauces and cocktails. Will be back again and again and again for the best Mexican in the Northcote/Thornbury area.
I really enjoyed the food here. Prices are great and the serving sizes are generous. I had a chicken nachos and there was plenty of chicken, guacamole, sour cream and cheese...
Drinks are good and there is good variety.

Perhaps! I consider myself to be a bit of an expert in this cuisine, having been raised in Arizona with Mexican food options all around me. I can absolutely say without a doubt that after five years in Melbourne, this remains my go-to place for fresh, authentic Mexican dishes.
I’m particularly pleased that they cater to my gluten free and vegetarian needs, with the gluten free bean burrito being my favorite dish.
Friendly staff, quick service, vast menu. Highly recommended.
