Honestly, the best pho I've had in my entire life, I've tried 15+ dishes and not one disappointed. Fantastic service, get to know Kung the owner, he caters for your every need, cheap prices, I feel like I'm ripping them off. My favourite place of all time.
I love Viet Pearl!! We come here 2-3 times a week for their $10 lunch special. Always consistently delicious and filling. Highly recommended!

Delicious, fresh and authentic food. Welcoming and friendly service, will definitely return!! Wonton bbq pork soup is a star dish.
Generic Vietnamese place but it does stand out a little from the others on the same strip. With the more up to date decor, new furniture and clean interior I thought they’d have higher prices than the others but in fact it’s very good value. They didn’t charge more for the fine rice vermicelli (the square ones) which often carries a premium. The servings were generous and service was quick. Taste was as expected, the Vietnamese food was authentic. The laksa was good but not like laksa king good. Interestingly they have a vegan menu (for the locals) which has BBH... and I can’t seem to find a version for normal people! Definitely will return.
My wife and I have been here a lot and have always been very happy with our service and food. The laksa is always a favourite especially on a chilly night.

There is nothing more welcoming than ‘Vegan Menu’ written in large letters. I stumbled across Viet Pearl late one afternoon of a public holiday (I may not have found it amongst the plethora of restaurants lining High Street otherwise). This place is your typical, happy go lucky Vietnamese restaurant: basic décor, good food, cheap food and relaxed.
Had some tasty rice paper rolls here once. The air was was a bit hot and stuffy inside but staff are friendly and food is cheap. Would return.
Update: I have since returned to find that this place makes delicious pho! Mine was had fried tofu, rice noodles & lots of vegetables all in a tasty broth. A satisfying meal for just $11!
We ordered the vegan rice paper rolls, satay veg & tofu, fried eggplant and vegan vermicelli stir fry. All was pretty good! Would love to see them put vegan broken rice on the menu. I'm unsure about the oyster sauce in some of their options, as oysters are not vegan, do they use a mushroom oyster sauce?
After having a massage just 3 doors down, we liked the look of the menu at Viet Pearl so thought we would pop in for some dinner.
A wide variety of food on the menu and all very reasonably priced, we settled for sesame seed prawn & chicken satay skewers for entree and for mains, chicken stir fried rice noodles and sizzling sweet honey black pepper chicken.
Upon our main of the black pepper chicken arriving, we were told there was an issue and we were unable to have rice noodles for our other main but could only have crispy fried noodles or egg noodles. Lucky I am a fan of crispy fried noodles but I did see the table next to us have rice noodles so I’m unsure what happened here. Due to this, there was a delay in getting the other meal.
The noodles & veggie/chicken combo worked very well but the dish probably needed some sort of sauce. The black pepper chicken was sadly overpowered by pepper and that component dominated the dish leaving no other flavour to consume.
Upon entering I received a warm welcome and very helpful staff, I was the only one in there as it was earlier and stinking hot and was waited on beautifully even the offer of aircon just for my comfort.
I had rice paper rolls with prawns (4 huge ones) made fresh!! The rare beef pho was delicious too ! Would highly recommend this place !!
Thank you Viet Pearl
Awesome for a cheap meal which tastes fresh and the service is always very welcoming and friendly. Lots of seating and doesn't feel like you're squashed in.
I am glad Viet pearl is back in business. I am happy that the owner/chef hasn't changed so the quality of food hasn't changed. My all time favs are Veg spring rolles, fried chicken ribs salt n Pepper, Chicken chilly and lemongrass, Veg fried rice & also a duck dish(don't remember the name).
The service here was absolutely amazing couldn't be more helpful and patient with us. Food was delicious! Would recommend eating here, very very good!
Pretty consistent good. The spring rolls arn't the best though which is a major let down.. they're dry and seem as if they've been cooked in old oil that hasn't been changed. Service is always good.
This place has been our regular Viet joint on High St ever since we stumbled upon it, best decision ever!
Great, authentic Vietnamese food.(coming from a Viet, that's a big win)
Friendly & super fast service, food always come out very quickly.
The owner lady is lovely and very polite, service with a smile.
Decor is nice and clean.
We have moved to Brunswick now, but still make the trek to this place as we haven't found any place that is on-pair with this. Cheap, cheerful & delicious!
As a regular here I just have to toot their horn as loud as possible. Tonight's feast was OUTSTANDING.
Amazing service
Amazing food
The waiter (guy) is very nice, he make my wife and me very happy. Next time, I will come back with my mom and my children. Thank you so much.
Nothing left to photograph 👍.
Delicious and reasonably priced pho. Great for take away and is made super quick, we always get our pho from Viet pearl, not a very nice place to dine in though
Good, authentic vietnamese food and extremely well priced. The pho is delicious and always a lot of food, the vegetarian pho is full of veggies, normally vegetarian pho is very basic, would recommend.
The salted crispy quail to start was heavenly! The rice vermicelli with betel leaf beef was also great and so was the lemon chicken (for old times sake), which was light and tender. Nice people, ice bucket and chilled wine glasses, nice fit out.
Felt like a feast one time and wanted to try something different from my usual.
Driving down high street and seeing Viet Pearl, perfect. Might as well have had one of everything on the menu, almost did.
Rice paper rolls were fresh and light, wonton soup was full of flavour and generous amount of wontons. Tried too many dishes too remember but the salt and pepper squid was delicious, crispy and melt in your mouth, no complaints on any front.
Definitely go give it a try if you've got some spare time. Shouldn't be disappointed!
Comfort food. Fresh, friendly, inexpensive, and utterly delicious.
One day running errands, I stopped in for a quick lunch and have returned over and over again. I am always happy. Where other restaurants put energy into decor and vibe, Viet Pearl puts it all into fresh and delicious. Layers of flavour and texture, delivered to the table with a smile.
The owner is a lovely and generous woman, proud and sweet at the same time, someone who I am so glad has opened a business in my neighbourhood!
My favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Northcote. Lovely fresh and tasty food. Staff are always helpful and friendly. Love the Vietnamese coleslaw, beef in bettel leaf and duck rice paper rolls.
Have been here for dinner a few times, service is great and food is wonderful! They're super friendly and are happy to accommodate large groups. Food is typical Vietnamese and always of good quality, fried rice is especially amazing. They also do a great "special cake" which is a hilarious and fun combination of fried ice cream and banana fritters. Great for birthdays if you want a bit of a laugh!
Amazing pho with gorgeous flavours. The lady who owns the shop is also very nice and accomodating! Thank you very much for a late and great dinner! Definitely come back.
We get take away regularly from Viet Pearl and it's pretty good. Consistent quality and they are quick and efficient. Having lived in Northcote for 10 years it has been interesting watching the rise of Vietnamese restaurants on High St. It is my favourite food, so not having to trek over to Richmond is great. I think Viet Pearl is my current pick of the bunch for what we eat - usually get spring rolls, rice paper rolls, soft noodles stir fry and a beef dish. Lots of veggies, good flavours and the rice paper rolls are quite good. Hope they keep it up!
Awesome food, lovely service and a nice atmosphere! Sure it's not a fine dining restaurant but if you want value for money, delicious food this is the place to be!! My boyfriend had a beef pho which was without doubt the best I have ever tasted and only cost $10 all up our bill of two mains, drinks and dessert came to $35. The waiting staff were efficient and attentive and it was busy but not loud.
All in all, a lovely little place to eat and definitely a new favourite of mine!
Terrific little local Vietnamese. Doesn't quite reach Victoria St standards, but it gets very close st times. The food is great, and the service is terrific too. We had a number of standards tonight - rice paper rolls, soft shelled crab, prawns and vegetables and a plate of vegetables. Very nice they were too washed down with a Jacobs Greek Chardonnay (that's what the menu says). Price was modest too. Great little spot. We'll be back.
An excellent find. Great service and high quality fresh generous Vietnamese food. We will be back!!
Great coleslaw, broken rice, coffee and service. We ordered : combination beef pho, broken rice, hot Vietnamese coffee, prawn and pork coleslaw to go. Pricing is very good and extremely economical, compare to other non-footscray /Richmond pho shops. There are a few hiccups but overall we love the place. Cons: Personally we didn't like the pho soup as it taste a bit too herby and the sweet aftertaste of licorice is overpowering a little. We would have prefer the sweetness of beef bones. The coleslaw was served up to us as an entree, though we clearly stated it was for takeaway at time of order.
Here's the pros: the broken rice was delicious! Taste good and fresh, nice presentation, well balanced. The drip hot coffee was very good too. Only thing was the waitress forgot we wanted it hot so she came up with a glass of crushed ice and asked if we want her to serve our coffee. Never turn down an iced coffee I gave in and had her stir and mix the hot drip coffee into the glass of ice. It tasted wonderful!
We paid for the meal, very happy and full customers. A few hours later we revisited the coleslaw we took away with us. And by gawd was that a good slaw! We instantly regret not buying two serves and smack our lips wishing for more when we see the bottom of the container. This is DEFINITELY the star dish!!! Must eat!
I can't wait to go back again!
Love this place! Food is fresh and of good quality! Met the new owners and they are lovely and really eager to please!! Highly recommend!!!
Food was great. Service was amazing. Plus it's pretty much the best gay and lesbian bar in town. Loved it.
Lifts Vietnamese restaurants to the next level in sophistication, quality and service.
Amazing!!!. This place is amazing. beautiful set up. really friendly service and the food is absolutely wonderful. highly recommended and will definately come back.
Best Asian in northcote. Preston and Reservoir.
Friendly service it's a family owned business . Have to try
Had dinner here for the first time tonight. Asked for no MSG and the flavour was still fantastic. Great new Vietnamese place in Northcote.
This is a great restaurant. The food is delicious, and I especially loved the quail.
The staff were very friendly and efficient. Prices are reasonable. I will definitely go back.
New High Street favourite!. We had a lovely meal here last night, the dishes are interesting, really tasty and good value for money.
The restaurant is smart and clean, service is prompt and professional, altogether a very enjoyable meal out.
The relatively new kid on the high street but having tried them all this is the BEST by far. Excellent Pho!!
