Review Seasons Restaurant At Cloudehill - Olinda

MissBollywood4eva
The location itself is really nice, looking out to the pretty gardens amongst the hilly valley. The staff are so lovely and friendly with efficient service. I got the Seasons Ploughman Platter & the Five Seasons Tea. The platter looked small but was quite filling with 2 types of cheese, variety of meats & salad. The taste was quite average though. The tea however had nice flavour to it and was quite light. I also ordered the chips with aioli which were the highlight for me. They were evenly seasoned and crispy hot perfectly pairing with the aioli dip. Someone else ordered the coffee which was quite good with a strong flavour. Not a lengthy menu but might be back for chips & the friendly service if am visiting the Cloudehill Gardens!

Lovely staff! Food cooked with love and care.. Awesome views .. They even have blankets for people sitting outside 😍 There is nothing wrong that you can find at this place.

Amazing scenery, so picturesque. Look forward to walking around the gardens next visit. Amazing coffee! Service was great, very obliging, and food was fabulous! Looking forward to heading back there again. Highly recommend. Thank you .

A small quaint cafe located next to the garden. We arrived at 4pm, and had coffee and cakes. The service was great and if you are lucky you sit next to the window overlooking the garden.

After visiting the garden. Stopped for lunch. It was Monday weekday but still quite lots of visitors than expected. Maybe because still school holiday. The waitress who served the table was friendly and polite. She explained today’s special. I had tomato& basil tart with garden salad. It’s nice flavour. But I need double size for my hungry tummy. Desert , I had almond date chocolate cake. Top chocolate icing dominated all flavour, I couldn’t taste date, but there were lots of almond. The view from the outdoor table was lovely, I enjoyed listening birds while having my lunch!

Lovely views. Ensure a windows seat if possible. Friendly staff and nice food.

Good food, great ambience. Service seemed to be a bit slow as they were busy, but I would not hesitate to return or recommend

Lovely quaint little restaurant. Quite busy, but stuff cope well. Food was great, good sized portions..I had the brisket burger and chips delicious.. The atmosphere is very noisy. The open kitchen certainly doesn't help. Hard to hear across the table

The restaurant gives off a nice friendly and homely vibe. I stopped by for a late lunch and I'm glad I did.

The staff were very accommodating and their menu offered a few gluten free options, not a lot but mind you it is a small menu.

I admit I got a bit excited and forgot to take photos (sorry!!) but it was all delicious!

The coffee is delish, I am a sucker for a good coffee and I'm pleased to say I was not dissapointed.

Main: Pork belly
This dish reminds me of the Sunday roast I use to have with the family, served with pan fried potatoes (safe for coeliacs) the meat was not too dry and very tender. For your reference - no it does not have pork crackling but the skin is nicely caramelised and not chewy.

Main: Soup of the day (Thai curry pumpkin)
Perfect for a cold day, the subtle flavours of the soup with the toppings (seeds). It was not over powering and not very spicy

Dessert: Coffee and Hazelnut
Loved it, it's gluten free and delicious it is a must oder in my books

Dessert: Chocolate and almond tort
If you like rich chocolate then this is for you, personally I'm not a fan of chocolate desserts (I know right blasphemy) but the serve of cream helped cut the richness of the cake.

Overall - I will be back maybe on a warmer day so I can sit outside and enjoy the view

Came here today for brunch . We had coffee ( oh my husband says coffee is great ) , tea , pot pie and coffee cake . The pot pie is delicious, highly recommends the cake. Friendly service, better book a table before you drop by as it was fully book by the time we left .

Food was really tasty. We had a lovely young waitress serving our table. Unfortunately our experience was marred by an incredibly rude, inhospitable older lady- I’m assuming the owner or manager. I felt uncomfortable watching her berate another staff member loudly, in front of all diners for simply trying to accommodate our group. She also told off my partner for holding the door open and letting out the warmth.
Stunning location, and could be amazing. Unfortunately the experience is tainted by the surly manager.

Wow! What a surprise. Very friendly staff and they made place for us even though they were fully booked.
Great cakes and stunning soft coffee.
Melanie
Attempted to have lunch there on a day out and was completely ignored by serving staff. Mind you we were waiting for at least ten minutes and trying to flag someone down. A simple "hello we will be with you in a second"or "sorry we don't have any available tables" would have been just fine but we didn't even recieve that. We eventually managed to talk to one of the younger staff who said he didn't think there were any available tables but didn't know for sure because it wasn't his job.

Brought family here from interstate and couldn't of been more pleased. Lunch was perfect' couldn't fault it. Pork belly was the best ever, delicious desserts topped of with an amazing view of the gardens. Highly recommend!

Amazing view. We went in Autumn and the changing colour of the trees was beautiful. Quite pricey. Small selection of cakes but nice. The highlight for me was the view!

Fantastic restaurant! The view was beautiful, looking out onto the gardens. The food was phenomenal -the pork belly dish in particular- served with potatoes and a delicious slaw and apple based sauce. The salad was also delicious, with pulled pork being the highlight. Highly recommend this restaurant for a quiet, relaxed lunch or afternoon tea (tea and scones are on the menu).
Jacqueline
The view and the gardens were spectacular. The food was ordinary - not bad. We had the pork belly which was quite dry and very salty and the seafood pie. The seafood was chopped up (looked minced) quite finely in lots of creamy sauce not the chunky pieces of rockling, prawns and scallops....

Never knew this lovely restaurant set in this well stocked nursery was there in the hills. We rolled up this week for lunch and we all loved the food, not overly sauced, well presented, tasty dishes and all cooked to perfection! Will go again.

Waited 30 mins for our coffee and cake to arrive and when we asked what the delay was, we found out that our order was somehow lost and instead of apologizing, they were rude especially the short old lady who was being a smartass and had to contain myself from throwing her out of the balcony. Stay away from that place. Plenty of nicer places in Olinda.
Diana Sheldrick
We had to sit outside and therefore got bombarded by European Wasps. We then waited 70 minutes for our lunch to arrive. When we complained we were told ours was coming out. They then served 3 other tables that arrived after us. We decided to leave and when we went to pay for our coffees the staff gave us grief for leaving, saying they had to ditch our meals. We had ordered 2 Ploughman's lunches and a tart. It does not take 70minutes to get those 3 meals ready. Plus being rude to us because we had had enough waiting and were hungry. Being rude to us was the unforgivable straw that broke the camel's back. There are plenty of great places to eat in Olinda - eat there instead.

I am not really into the food but the 4 out of 5 I gave here is because of the view. You are not in a normal restaurant to have the meal but in a painting! Strongly recommend to make a booking for the seat closed to the window and then enjoy your high tea time!
But they charge $ if you want to walk in that nice garden.

You cannot complain about the view!!! Just stunning. The ploughmans platter was delicious. A random combination of flavours but all tasty. The baked cheesecake was Devine and I like my lemon tart with a bit more zing but it was still creamy.

Ok menu offerings, OK wine list, friendly staff and great views. We dined at Seasons on a very busy Sunday afternoon. Whilst our shared platter did not take long in coming out, we were not then bothered again by the staff despite empty glasses . We would have ordered additional wine if asked but did not bother to attempt to wave down the busy staff.

This year, Fathers' day and my birthday fell on the same day, so our family of 3 headed up to Seasons at Cloudehill to celebrate. And we were not disappointed; the food was delicious, beautifully presented and fuss free. The wine was excellent. The service, friendly, prompt and warm. The ambiance, just the perfect level of relaxed and formal, without background music and just the contented sound of happy diners.
We enjoyed 2 courses and coffee and we will be back.

Disappointing
I have been to this restaurant before and found the food acceptable but overpriced. The outlook makes up for many shortcomings, but not today, Saturday lunch.
Being a vegetarian I am used to having little choice on the menu. There was one vegetarian dish listed for main course which I was happy to choose. However when I came to order I was informed that it was sold out. I asked what else I could have and was told that the chef could make a pasta dish. I was charged $22 for a pasta that had a sauce that could easily have come out of a jar and the pasta was definitely from a packet. A few salad leaves, a bit of toast and this was supposed to be good quality cuisine! I certainly couldn't recommend this restaurant for good quality dining.

Terrible. We went there this weekend for my father's birthday, we had a table of 11 for breakfast. The breakfast menu was disappointingly small, with only the very basic and standard options. While they did take our coffee order promptly, the actual coffee was awful. The meal itself was ok but considering the price ($2.50 extra for one hash brown which was a plain frozen packet hash brown) it was below par. The coffee and tea order was taken but the waiter missed half the table, when the second half of the table finally got to order coffee they forgot to make it, but they did not forget to charge for it. Honestly considering the beautiful gardens and nursery and location it was absolutely appalling. I would recommend enjoying the gardens and the diggers store then going into Olinda for a meal.

Great Australia Day Lunch 2015. Experienced Cloudehill for the first time, very enjoyable experience and made a great Australia Day Lunch for the family. Staff were very attentive and friendly and really looked after us even though it was a busy day. Tried the smoked salmon penne with salad and garlic bread, wow, there was salmon all the way through the meal until the very last bite, it was great! Washed that down with 2 glasses of local Sav Blanc and finished up with a short black and your scrumptious lemon curd tart which mouth watering. Definately be back there again now that I know where you are and will let my friends know. Thanks again!

Loved it. Went a couple of weeks ago to have a look a gardens and nursery...got side tracked and had breakfast on the deck instead. ran out of time for flower shopping -no regrets though... went and got the flowers from bunnings!

Perfect. We ordered the lam.... Perfect!
We ordered the lamb, salmon, chicken and soup of the day. The service was impeccable even though there was only one waitress serving a full house! Orders came through quickly and tasted amazing, worth the price. Would recommend 10/10 :)

Extremely average! We stopped in for coffee and scones on a rainy afternoon and felt we were on the set of Fawlty Towers. We were met by a very indifferent staff member who seemed almost reluctant to let us come in. We then spent most of our time there watching staff eating tubs of chocolate mousse in the back kitchen or circling around each other as there were too many of them!! Scones were heavy, dry and didn't benefit from the microwaving they had got. Better scones to be had from a bakery in the city!

Our family frequents seasons almost weekly.
The staff are always friendly and kind to our children. Service is prompt and food is delicious.
We cannot make a trip to seasons without having a slice if their amazing cakes. I must make a special mention of the Bakewell tart in particular, the frangipane is so light and fluffy, perfect with a great coffee.

While the menu is simple, it is done well and the small things like fresh herbs in the salad, and the gorgeous home made garlic bread are what gives seasons 10/10 from us.
Emily
Beautiful view, friendly knowledgeable staff, cakes were yummy in the high tea but the sandwiches could have had better bread, the fillings were nice though the cheese could have been better quality too.
Loved my mocha coffe
Monique
Me andmy partner went there today, and had the best time, beautiful food and atmosphere! we love going there when we have the money! :)

Picturesque and delightful. Have enjoyed many lovely lunches and afternoon teas here.

Speaking of tea, Seasons is one of the few establishments who I've found to serve tea in bone china. Absolutely delightful, especially when most establishments serve tea in thick chunky coffee cups.

The meals here change frequently and are always lovely and homely, in a delicate way. Something about Seasons makes you feel as if you're in a charming country cottage.

I'll be sure to return.

The right idea. We celebrated a birthday lunch here on a weekday, enjoying the aspect of spring flowers and beautifully groomed gardens. The outlook is worth the visit alone. Our meals could not be faulted: my pork belly in particular was deliciously tender and tasty, far less fatty than is often the case. The service couldn't be faulted, and the whole experience was excellent. I like the confidence of the kitchen, on full view to diners, and seeing the efficient work of the chefs and staff. Full marks all round!

Great service, yummy food. I've been twice and have loved the food both times, very delicious and perfect for a winters day!!

Yummy. Best home-made dessserts in the area, to die for Bakewell Tart with plenty of others to choose from. Keep up the good work Rhonda.
Great service & atmosphere

I took my mum here for Mother's Day lunch, and she loved it. It was a nice break away up in the Dandenongs. The food was great value for money, not too expensive. The service was fine, and the view into the garden was absolutely beautiful with the autumn leaves. We had dessert and coffee too, No complaints here :)

Lovely!. Seasons is a cosy and welcoming place.Staff couldn't have been nicer... We had a friend with a number of food issues and it was no trouble to help her find something she could eat..The tasting plate was huge and delicious and those who ate the chicken were happy. I ate the Bakewell Tart and friends had scones...all were terrific! I love it when staff have wide smiles and you feel welcome. Will be back.

Shame. It is a shame in such a beautiful surround the food did not match. I had the smoked salmon pasta, it was $22 for a few dits of salmon, in a very creamy sauce in a small bowl, with garlic bread on tip top toast, after I had eyed off the lovely sourdough loaf at the counter. Don't get it. Will all the cooking shows on tv these chefs have not been watching. Taste poor, presentation very poor, $12 pub meal for $22, the view was nice but not that good.
Sandra
So disappointing! I ordered the vegetable tart with salad ($22). It arrived with a piece of toast on the plate that had been smeared with garlic butter. Garlic bread, I presume? Perhaps that was to make up for the small slice of tart beside it which was oily and consisted of some unknown vegetable or vegetables, despite my attempt to identify them. Perhaps roasted onion or eggplant, or both - I am not sure. A very ordinary small salad sat alongside. My husband ordered pork with potatoes and cabbage and gave it 5 out of 10. Rubbery 'crackling' and overcooked watery cabbage. We decided to cut our losses, paid the bill and had dessert and coffee elsewhere. Expected much better from a restaurant in the grounds of Cloudehill, a delightful garden and nursery of such renown.

Good food, reasonable price in a fantastic setting. Recommend.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!. Its very rare that you find such a restaurant that offers great service in a relaxed atmosphere in such beautiful surrounds. The food is extremely well priced considering the quality on offer. House-made sour dough bread, fantastic seafood pies & the flathead is to die for!!! Most restaurants these days sell cheap frozen fish which i've been told is imported from south america of all places!!! Well not here!! Just incredibly fresh product thats evident in the flavours. I will definately be coming back again & highly recommend this place to anybody

The last thing I want to do when I go out for a meal is listen to the kitchen staff discuss how dirty the ladies toilets are. The meals are overpriced and the service is clearly untrained. Food was edible and location is great.

Delightful and “spot on” Manageress.. Reading the reviews here the restaurant sounds like two different places!!!
Our experience was 1st class with staff separating the main large table in the “view” window for our party of just three. Food was very yummy; presentation was 110%; prices were reasonable, we were allowed to stay past closing time (5.00pm) and there WERE NOT anyone else’s screaming kids!
The Owner/Manager “Rosemary” struck me as professional, efficient and very customer and staff friendly.
Compared to the “non-service” down the road at Coonara Springs, “Seasons” is a totally wonderful experience!
Sean Kelly.

Overrated. Lunch on a Monday, poor service, meals over priced ($25-$32), and average home cooked type meals. Pot pie was watery and lacked seasoning. Disappointed because at that price point we expected much more.
Michael
A real disappointment. The service took ages and the restraunt wasn't even busy.
I ordered an iced coffee and it was the worst drink I have ever had the coffee was bitter and they had it half filled with ice blocks. The bakewell tart was alright but nothing reflected the prices paid.

Awesome. Absolutely love this place...have been a number of times in recent years and it never fails to deliver.

Beautiful food, beautiful setting and terrific staff. At this time of year (Autumn), there is no better way to spend a Sunday arvo than looking out over those stunning gardens, glass of wine in hand and great food and company to match.

Look forward to heading back up the hill sometime very soon to do it all again.

Absolutely horrible. Please do not believe the positive reviews below. I 100% agree with the review by Patsy. Clearly the owner has no idea about CUSTOMER SERVICE or how to treat your staff. It was by far the worst dining experience I have ever had anywhere in the world - and that includes the local fast food take away joint where the staff don't even speak English. It was such a bad experience that we did not even eat here because we were treated with such disrespect by the owner.
I have told everyone I know about the poor service here.
Anywhere is a better restaurant then here, trust me!
Travelman
Thank you. Just wanted to say thanks for a fantastic mothers day lunch. Most importantly our mum loved everything as did the rest of the family. The meals were flavour packed and the cakes were just amazing. I hope next time we can get a table with view over the stunning gardens :) We will be back very soon!!!!

The review by Patsy below is spot on. Service and manageress (the rude old lady) were absolutely horrific. We were also sent away for being early (by 5mins!). The lady made us switch tables with someone already seated and no one bothered to bring us menus, so we had to do it ourselves. The prices are ridiculous for the food they brought us (ranging from about $22-$30 for tiny serves of very average food). We observed the lady actually having an argument with a customer about what time she had booked. Who really cares what time was booked when you have empty tables?? The manageress was obviously just looking to argue. Another negative thing about this place was the outdoor toilets and the smell of fertiliser in the restaurant. So in summation: bad service (which couldn't even be justified by them being busy: they have a total capacity of like 8 tables??), average tasting food, small portions, expensive, bad smells and outdoor toilets. I recommend you go anywhere else.

My favourite place in the dandenongs. Brilliant setting and view over the gardens. Fantastic home style mains, pork belly or pie are the best, and freshly made cakes are to die for.
Patsy Kennedy
Disappointment. Our family had been so looking forward to celebrating my niece's birthday last Sunday 22/4 all was booked (in person) and confirmed by phone a few days beforehand for a table for 12 people. Getting ALL the family together was a feat in itself as many had to travel quite a distance.

We arrived prior to the 2:30pm booking and had to wait outside 30 mins for our table to be ready only to get inside be placed on three separate tables and not even together. The Manageress was extremely rude probably stressed due to the afternoon tea period, she made out that there wasn't a booking made and was unsympathetic to our request to at least join the tables together.

So we all left and found a lovely little café - Cooks Corner café in Kallista - who made up a table for table and made up feel welcomed unlike Cloudhill Café.

Sorry guys you've lost me, my family and friends.

Hidden Gem. Been passing this place for years and finally went in to try it. Absolutely beautiful surrounds. We sat outside overlooking the amazing garden and ordered the Seasons Breakfast, a cake and some coffees. Everything is homemade here, croissants were soft and buttery, scrambled eggs and mushies had that creamy, homemade flavour. Stayed for almost 3 hours we were enjoying it so much. It's just 2 mins from Olinda and so much better than any cafe in the main street. Give it a try!

I just love Cloudehill, on a fine Autumn or Spring day there's no better place in the Dandenongs for morning tea or lunch. The adjacent gardens are absolutely stunning. You can't go wrong here.

Nice food.... but not small child friendly. We rang ahead to check, they said kids were welcome, but our youngsters were obviously not wanted there for a Sunday brunch despite the restaurant being mostly empty

Dine & Unwind. What a lovely restaurant, beautiful food, surrounds and atmosphere. We frequent Seasons regularly and are never disappointed. The tasting platter is to die for!!! Stay a while and indulge, then walk it off with a stroll around the stunning gardens. The hills at their best!
