Visited this place with my partner for dinner yesterday. We had booked table for two at seven. The place was quiet busy with customers at the restaurant as well as home deliveries.
I am a vegetarian from Bombay. I never expected Melbourne @Bombay Club to serve such delicious tasting food. It just reminded me of my hometown.
We had ordered Aloo Tikki, Tandoori Mashrooms, Kulcha, Garlic Naan and Paneer - zal - feeze.
The staff is friendly and polite. The place is done well and plays soft soothing bollywood tracks.
Also not to forget their service was quick. After placing the order we didn't wait long for the food to be served.
The presention was good and food was served warm. It was not at all hot and so we could taste the rich Indian food flavours and spices.
I love the place and will surely visit again.

If you google "reliable Indian cuisine in Melbourne" at the top of the search results is Bombay Club. Didn't actually test this theory, but just believe it orrite?

Over the years this has become a semi-regular obsession. Yet to have a bad meal from this mob, both in-house or for take away. The Naan is always glorious, the lamb-filled one is a real cracker. Why not put more meat in something if you can? That's The Dear Luncher's motto anyway.

The Rogan Josh did not knock the socks off with heat, but it was extremely fragrant. The curry itself incredibly voluminous in its texture and flavours. Plenty of lamb as well.

You will also struggle to get better samosas around town. A real dyed-in-the-wool family operation that commands respect.

Came here with my father, both quite hesitant as we have local favourite Indian restaurant. Well, Bombay Club blew our socks off. From decor to the food, I highly recommend here. Such a clean environment too. Owners are lovely & accomodating.

We ordered takeaway from Bombay Club and were immediately impressed with the starter of samosas, they are delicious and very big. We ordered a chicken dish and a vegetarian black bean and lentil main in a tomato based sauce, it was really nice as was the rice and naan bread. We will definitely order from them again and would also like to eat in to see how that is.

When the restaurant owners came to Australia 30 years ago, Bombay was to India what Sydney was once to Australia, the best-known city, the glamour town...and hence the name Bombay Club! I've dined in groups a couple of times here, and this was the first time with just my family.

They must be doing something right to have the patronage of both, local and Indian clients, for all these years. Yes, the food is toned to local tastes, but not muted like those Brighton restaurants. Dal makhni more than passed the litmus test. The paneer jalfrezi was a tad too sweet, and would've excited more had it been sizzling hot on the tawa, and if the paneer was softer (it was a bit chewy.) Their aloo tikki is unique and makes a great entree. The kids loved the butter chicken. Paneer kulcha was done pretty well, though lachcha paratha should've been softer and flakier.

Vegetarians are usually well taken care of in Indian restaurants, but Bombay Club's vegetarian menu means you will decide pretty quickly from the staples listed.

On the plus side, this is a great combination of a very presentable and clean interior, dependable quality of food, and attentive service. Takeaway prices are roughly 25% less. I think the menu on Zomato is the takeaway one.

Georgia maybe you should stick to Thai or your Italian heinz spaghetti bol. As I have been to many Indian restaurants throughout Melbourne and without doubt the Bombay club is the best... david neef

Delicious homemade Indian food. This is a real family place and all the dishes are super yum. The hot and freshly made naan is to die for! Very nice feel in the restaurant and nice fast service. The pricing is also very good. It's the kind of place you can go to regularly.

Best Indian in Melbourne. This place is a treasure. It's not super cheap but the food is amazing. This is a family favorite and you will be addicted after one prawn malai, chicken butter cream, vindaloo with a gosh sagwala on the side. It's my happy place.

Stick to the main and you will be fine. The entrees are very small for the price. Luckily the main curries and dishes are better than average. I just wish the entrees were a little bit bigger.

What can I say? One of the two best Indian restaurants in Melbourne (along with Tandoori Hut, Cranbourne!!!) The service is impeccable, the owners the friendliest and most hospitable restauranters I have ever met; Narender and Reeta are two of the kindest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing! God bless them! And, what is also impressive is the quality and freshness of the food, especially the Chicken Biryani and Kashmiri Naan; the Kashmiri Pulao is also a nice option. The staff also make excellent Masala Chai. I visit Bombay Club quite often, and, I LOVE it!!!

Excellent and consistent food over many years.
Love the owners and their personal recommendations. Affordable, delicious and most importantly the only Indian to ever not make me sick (very clean and fresh every time)!
The Kashmiri naan is a must.

Amazing Food, but some money grabbing extras. We recently ate at the Bombay Club with friends for the second time in a couple of months and have noticed some minor grievances creeping in.

A few months ago it was the first time eating in at the new location a few doors down and we’re talked into ordering an extra entree of their new Tandoori Mushroom dish (from the male manager/owner?). Unfortunately this disappointed us all, the mushrooms were tiny and nowhere near the price put on the dish. Then again on this recent visit he was still pushing this dish hard before finally accepting our decision not to go for this again. Similarly we ordered some Pappadums and mixed pickles to go with these and once again were disappointed with the tiny serving portion of the pickles.

The next issue which we really struggled to comprehend was being charged $14 for a shared plate of plain rice! After ordering a few dishes for the 4 of us to share we just said enough rice for us to share. We received the standard plate of rice (as you would in many Chinese, Indian, Thai restaurants) and all seemed well until we paid the bill and saw what they had charged us for rice; $14!! The amount of rice on the shared plate couldn’t have been much more than a standard large takeaway rice (currently priced at $5) so I am astonished at this mark up in price.

Now the quality of the food and flavours in the meals have been fantastic since we have been coming here after moving into the area some 5 years ago. We have mainly ordered take away from here during those years and have not been disappointed, but sadly I think we will now only remain as takeaway customers...

A happy regular. We live around the corner so pop in for dinner or take-away quite regularly. They're always very good at assisting me with my dietary requirements, the food is always great and they're very friendly. The new restaurant looks lovely, although just a little bit cramped, I reckon removing one small table from each side would allow a little bit more elbow room :) I love the chicken butter cream, puppadums, and the lemon rice is amazing.

A Taste of the Ganges. Yes, I've bathed in the Ganges and I would hapily do the same in a bath full of Butter Chicken from Bombay Club in Ormond.

This is an award winning restaurant that serves an amazing array of delicious Indian offerings.

The butter chicken is delightful, the samosa's rocked, and everything we selected were truly delicious.

First time here for takeaway, 35minute wait for our order-and didn't seem very busy when I arrived, having said that, the food we ordered was quite good. Not the very best Indian in this area in my opinion, but was still very enjoyable. Thought the Samosa could have done with more filling and less batter-very thick. Flavour and quality of meat in our butter chicken and Lamb Korma were very good. All in all a pleasant experience, as staff were friendly and fitout of restaurant was clean, fresh and new. Will be our backup Indian go too for now when our Fav is closed-but is a solid contender nonetheless!

Consistently Good!. We've been coming here for many years now, and the food is consistently good, whether dining in or taking away. The new restaurant on North Rd looks great, and is just what we need in the local area.
I Love the lamb vindaloo, which I order really hot, and that's exactly what you get! So often when you order extra hot, it just doesn't come out that way. The vegetarian dishes such as Palak Paneer is creamy and delicious, and the Dhal is magnificent. The service has always been great in this family run restaurant, and whilst the new one is bigger, I'm sure that wont impact on the service delivery.

I went to this restaurant a couple nights ago. With regards to the servicr, it was impeccable. There was a handsome teenage boy who looked after us brilliantly. But the main attraction was the food. NOTHING BUT QUALITY FOOD! Butter Chicken is to die for! Prices in comparison to other restaurants is relatively cheap. Will be back very, very soon.

Its okay.. Judging from the vegetarians dishes I ordered, they were nothing extra-ordinary. More close to home-fare than restaurant standard that I find at Indian Palace, Brighton.
That said, "Aloo Tikki" was spectacular. But they know it and that's why its priced at ~$10.00, even for takeaway. I don't think its on their menu, but it always is on their specials board.
Hosts and staff are friendly though which is a big plus at an Indian restaurant, have you ever been to The curry club (bridge road)?, awful they are.

Can be a too salty.. Authentic taste, excellent butter chicken and briyani but some dishes have too much salt in them so we just order the ones we know are good. The banquet was good value for eating in plenty of food and cosy restaurant for small groups.

We are luckily spoilt for choice with at least 5 very good Indian Restaurant/takeaway places within 15 minutes of home. Bombay Club on our list favourites. Watch where you park as the side street only allows for non-resident parking on the railway side of the side street. The restaurant is newly renovated and comfortable but you need to book as this place is no longer the hidden gem for just the locals. Enjoy.

Had takeaway from Bombay Club and gotta say I was fairly impressed. The Beef Pasanda was gorgeous - beautiful melt in you mouth slow cooked meat. The Butter Chicken was not bad either - not as sickly sweet as some of the versions you get around town. I was also extra impressed as they made us Aloo Ghobi on request, even though its not on the menu and it was really delicious. The naan was on the small side so will order double next time!!

Best Indian I have had in Melbourne. My husband and I, ex Londoners, have been searching for a decent curry in Melbourne. We found it, this was a fantastic meal. He is vegetarian and we both really enjoyed the Dal Makhani and the eggplant dish was, as someone else posted the bomb. I had chicken tandoori and this was also fantastic. Prices reasonable and staff very friendly. We will be regular customers.

Tucked away from North Rd but will surpise you with the food. Tucked away from North Rd inside a row of shop lots. Don't let the external change your mind. The food here was excellent and authentic. We ordered the Tandoori platter which is mixture of different tandoori style BBQ meats. They were well flavored and char grilled nicely. The Rogan Josh was another delicious dish. Bagare Baingan is the bomb of my meal. The eggplant was cooked in a rich and mouth watering sauces. Yum Yum. This is the best Indian food i have tried in Melbourne. I will be backed. Definitely!

Delicious. How does such a pokey little place make such nice food??? I dunno, but it does. Been coming here semi-regularly for the last 7 years and never has the quality wavered. Better food than the more "up class" Bombay By Night further down the road.

Join the Bombay Club. Forget about the location and the decor, this is one the best places in Melbourne for consistently delicious Northern Indian fare. The service is efficient, the menu reasonably priced, and the owner Narender always ready to recommend a specialty dish or two. My personal favourites are the Chicken Tikka, the Chicken Badam Malai and a serve of the scrumptious Aloo Prantha to mop up your curry.

This has been my favourite Indian restaurant in Melbourne since I first discovered it way back, in 1994! Over the years I brought so many friends, family, colleagues, and they all loved it! The whole experience has been the same all these years - the service, food, atmosphere all have a feel an upscale restaurant. When you add moderate pricing to that, it certainly makes it a must visit place. It is very hard to pick a favourite dish, as all food chef Narender makes is great. Still, i may mention a few. My favourite dish has been, from the beginning, chicken pakora, but I would also highly recommend: - bagare baingan (eggplant dish) - onion chili kulcha (spicy stuffed bread). I also have to mention friendly smiles of the owners Reeta and Narender Behl, which make you feel like you are visiting their home, rather than their business. Highly recommended!

I have tried a few Indian restaurants in the area and this has been the best and most consistent for quality by far. My go to is beef vindaloo. A lot of restaurants appear a bit timid to make them spicy however Bombay Club almost do it perfect to my taste (I do like it quite spicy) and also has plenty of meat and sauce to soak up the rice and naan. The chicken tikka entree Is also pretty good. The service could do with a bit of sharpening up though….. I would only give a 2 star rating if this was the criteria, so don’t expect to be greeted too warmly.
