Three of us had dinner there yesterday. We sampled various dishes and enjoyed our meal immensely! I was apprehensive as I don’t usually choose vegan food but everything was delicious! The falafel are definitely the best in Melbourne and the walafel , a waffle made of falafel was equally delicious, without being deep fried. We also had the Angelita Malawah, a delicious , flaky pastry with salsa and hard boiled egg. I will be back and will happily order all of those dishes again!
Tried the new Walafel which I found different however very tasty. Then they served extra falafel with the meal at no extra cost. Talk about going the extra bit. Thanks
Ate here today and we had the falafel wrap and the diva. Simple and delicious food - so tasty!!! We will definitely come back. Hoping they will make their waffles vegan again soon.
Walafel is one of the best restaurants in the area by far and one of my favourite falafel spots in Melbourne. The vegetarian menu is much more interesting than your standard falafel joint, offering a range of sweet and savoury dishes and vegan options at reasonable prices. Obviously, the waffle (falafel waffle) is the signature. I tried one topped with hummus and and tahini and two types of tasty, crunchy pickles. It’s such an interesting texture and lovely blend of flavours. While this dish was good, I think I loved the malawach even more. It’s a flakey Yemenite pastry filled with assorted veg, pickles, and the freshest falafel. The pastry and falafel are a true match made in heaven.
Nicely priced and great flavours through the food. A great bite to eat on way through
Finding reasonably priced vegetarian options is hard but this place was great! I had the pita pocket and it was the perfect lunch size meal and good priced too. Flavours were really good, can't wait to stop by again
Walafel offers delicious falafel, waffle, and dessert options, all of vegan and kosher offering. The falafel plate was fresh, tasty, and balanced - filling me up by not stuffing me out. Nice and unassuming interior right in the midst of the North road hustle. Support your local businesses and visit this great community option. I drove for 20 minutes to get there and it was definitely worth it for a great feed!
Fantastic kosher, vegetarian fare with vegan options. Friendly and knowledegable service.
Not sure about their name giving signature dish walafel, basically a waffle made of falafel mixture. Healthier than deep fried falafel, but the falafels are so~ooo good! Pair it up with the malawach (Yeminte flaky pastry) add salads and dips ... heaven.
My absolute favourite is "The Diva".
Try it and you will understand. Everything freshly made to order.
On our visit we were given the vegan chocolate mousse and vegan brownie to try, both not our thing.
The ambience of Walafel is so so, could probably improve. But if you go around the corner or through the back there's "The Black Yard", a pretty cosy & cool place open Saturdays and Sundays, serving Jachnun.

Been seeing this place as I go past for awhile now and was pretty curious. Saw the good reviews here so thought I'd give it a go thinking it might be more the novelty value. There is that but it's so much more, I had the signature namesake dish walafel for $12 and comes with a drink for that price and I was so happy with it. So delicious and the variety of food and flavours. As well the presentation was excellent. Finally the service was friendly, warm and fast and I also enjoyed the ambience of the place. I was there for a weekday lunch. My son also very much enjoyed the Belgian chocolate waffle tho he wished it was bigger. Of course he did 🤣 they also serve up your more standard falafel fare such as pita pockets etc. That also looked really good and reasonably priced, reckon I might have to come back for a crack at some of them at a later date glad to have a falafel/pitta joint in my area as previously I probably would've headed to Caulfield or balaclava to get my fix now I can walk here
Super light tasty wrap, was really fresh and tasty Angelina wrap. Their falafel is superstar level! A really cute welcoming place. Can’t wait to try the weekend lunch in the courtyard.
Ordered the Falafel Plate. The falafels were cooked fresh on the spot with delicious matching side salads. The pita was soft and fluffy, only wish they gave 6 instead of 4 pieces. All in all a great feed.
Surprisingly good vegan and gluten free felafel waffles in the quiet suburb of Ormond. The walafels tasted like felafel but is healthier as it's not fried. The accompanying pickles salad is just as delicious. They also have sweet waffle options, also gluten free. Highly recommend!
