If I could rate 7 stars I would.......Binga & Mooch recently catered for a funeral celebration we hosted at our house and I can't speak more highly of the experience. Not only was the food amazing, the service was even better. Colin surprised us with delightful food, which had the guests following the platters around on the day. Not only did Colin make the organising really easy, all platters were hand delivered throughout the afternoon by him and his staff (in the pouring rain). Thank you for bringing culinary sunshine to what was a very difficult day.
The service was quick and friendly. The Sri Lankan hopper was super tasty, as was the coffee. I even got to purchase a Motor Neuron Disease Awareness keep cup. 10/10 would recommend!!
Ate here for the first time. Some of the staff are very friendly and surprisingly kid friendly place with pencils and colouring book provided. Had the Sri Lankan hopper and pesto mushrooms with poached eggs. Both meals were nice enough but not amazing or super memorable. Coffees and Chai Latte are a good standard, but again, not amazing. Menu is quite standard breakfast/poached eggs fare/sandwich based and needs a bit more variety and some more substantial main meals. Portions are on the small side. Ingredients seemed high quality though. Cakes and biscuits are made in house which is nice and a decent selection of muffins, slices, biscuits. Interior has a French Provincial feel and is relaxing, modern and cosy. I’d return, but wouldn’t come rushing back. Good for a casual catch up for coffees or brunch.
Friendly bright and cheery. Relaxing, clean, inviting. Food was excellent and appealing. Owners really care. Would definitely return. Great local cafe.
We live close by and had been meaning to drop in for a while. My wife had a cous cous egg dish and I had croissant with scrambled eggs. Both were really yum!! I don't know why more places don't do eggs with croissants...it's so much better than bread. We also grabbed some cake & pastries on the way out. They were delish...clearly made in house...you can taste the difference. RH.
Came here after seeing an article in the Herald Sun for a Sri Lankan hopper. I love Sri Lankan food but I'd never had one of these hopper things. It was so good...kind of like a crispy crepe in a bowl shape. We also had a marinated lamb salad and a trio of fish dish. Can't complain about anything!
Was driving through the area and popped in randomly. It's a cute little cafe with some creative dishes. Quite a few vegetarian/vegan options which was perfect for me. I had a leak tart with eggplant & chick peas which was great. My hubby had the gnocchi which was also really nice...very soft & pillowy. I'd be keen to go back as they have a very interesting menu
Binga and Mooch is located in a small group of shops just around the corner of the main street of Park Orchards. Its exterior is shared with the other shops, a red brick construction with a corrugated colonial-style awning, and large sash windows. The interior is quaint, with polished boards, an off-white colour scheme, and various ornaments and wall decorations including a large mirror, wall-mounted planters, and a wine barrel. The table settings are a mix of faux marble tops with black pressed steel chairs, and rustic timber- topped tables with wicker chairs. The ambience is a little let down, though, by the commercial radio playing banal top 40 tracks. Their menu is fairly imaginative, and includes some vegetarian and vegan options. I opted for the vegan polenta, with spinach, king brown mushrooms, and tempura battered cauliflower, which was tasty and attractively presented. The coffee was quite good, a touch weaker and milkier than I would prefer, but extracted correctly. I found the service to be pleasant enough, if not cheery and enthusiastic.
One of my favourite cafes to go to! The staff are always lovely and happy to help. A great variety of menu items, with plenty of options for the foodies and the health nuts alike.
As a bonus - very pet friendly! I will often take my dog and my friend's dog down for a visit.
A hidden gem in Park Orchards tucked behind the main shops. Great coffee with a very talented chef. Menu is diverse and good value. A great local!
Great cafe in the heart of Park Orchards. The Sri Lankan Hopper is amazing, very tasty and unique, their coffee is also really good. You can tell that a lot of care and attention goes into the food and service
Ok, it’s time to reveal my little secret. It’s not local to me, however, my heart and palate regularly crave a pilgrimage to Binga & Mooch for a quick brekky, a coffee or a long lazy brunch. In the shy little strip of shops in the heart of Park Orchards a culinary delight has honored the people. The talented chef Colin Swalwell has created a simple, hearty and modern menu using the freshest seasonal produce and colorful illustrations of modern Australian dishes- not to mention nutrition conscious. Bright and spacious interior with a hint of Province- very relaxing and welcoming. An ever changing menu- Always in season and I love the excitement of looking forward to new items on the menu.
