Review Honey Restaurant - Parramatta

Shawn Francis
This is a no frills restaurant with some really nice food. If you are going here for the ambience then you will be disappointed but the food is awesome. The sheesh, chicken and lamb cutlets are all very flavourful and amongst the best I have had. Highly recommend the lamb shank as well. One star docked as price is probably 20% higher than what it should be given location, ambience etc.

Staff here make you feel home. They are very friendly and provided great service. Chicken Biryani, chicken and lamb kebab and Ghormeh Sabzi and Kashk E Bademjan an eggplant dish was really tasty. Persian cuisine felt perfect for the level of spices in them. Chicken Biryani was super tasty with flavoured rice. Ghormeh sabzi was tasty with lamb and dried lemon in it.

Excellent family run business. The staff are super friendly and very accommodating. They're willing to give recommendations, if you're not familiar with Persian food. The babaganoush was delicious. We were also given a complimentary appetizer. We ordered the Persian tea, as well. It was a very spicy concoction. Lovely and warning on a cold night. The food was quickly delivered and the prices are very reasonable.

Very good place for Iranian/Persian food. Though they offer some Indian cuisines as well which I did not like. But the persian items are pure persian and taste really good. The quality and aroma is also authentic. Ambiencd is very good comparing other restaurants which cant even put good chairs in.

Ordered through menulog. Quality food that we enjoyed. However, no rice came with the shish kebab as advertised, and only 3 small pieces of bread for 2 meals that were both meant to have bread with them. Disappointing that these things were missed/skimped on considering the price we paid. We would like to try again and hope our experience next time will be better.

Though the recent comments are negative, my partner and I had a some great tasting food!! Was not too busy for a Saturday night - only 8 people including us two out of the 45 available seats. Food didn’t come with side dips, bread or salad like Kabul house in Merrylands and was the same price, however, the food we had was delicious!

I did have high expectations but it was delicious, I thought the rice and lamb would be great, but the chicken flavours blew my mind and the service was wonderful. Totally recommend. Sorry I started eaten when I took the pic. It was delicious

Recent review: went here after a long time again. Food quantity was almost half of what it was before. Plate wasnt even half full. Maybe it was lunch special but we were charged full price. Exteremely over priced for that amomt of food. Very very pushy waitress trying to sell us sides. When we said no, she shakes her head and says its up to you and walks away...Quite disappointed. Kebab still tasted good though. Old review: Very friendly staff...Food was delicious and not too oily...Saffron chicken was full of flavor. Complimentary pickles and bread :)

Lovely home cook food. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and great ambience. Great little restaurant run by two lovely ladies. We will definitely be back.

Food was really great and staff were lovely! Just off the main strip so was nice to be out of the hustle and bustle. Will definitely be going back.

Amazing small restaurant run by very kind people. Ordered Briyani and to my surprise the portion was too good probably the best of all places around. They sure serve a quantity that will fill your tummy and of course it was yummy.

Possibly the worst supposedly Persian cuisine I've ever had. Ordered takeaway and was highly disappointed.
They have no idea what traditional Persian food should be, the staff weren't Persian so that's probably why. I've been eating Persian food my whole life here in Sydney, in Iran, in USA and Europe, so I have a good idea what it should be.
The barg (lamb filet) had some unusual tasting spices which is definitely not the traditional flavour for barg, tasted more like Iraqi kebab.
The koobideh (lamb mince) and joojeh (chicken pieces) tasted okay but were very dry.
The rice was also dry, no block of butter provided like restaurants traditionally do.
Only one tiny quarter of a grilled tomato, not even a half like most other places. Very stingey.
No raw onion or fresh herbs provided either. Again, these are standard items in any chelo kebab.
Hopefully the owner reads this and makes some changes.
Worst part is, non-Persians who try it will think that this is traditional Persian cuisine but it's so far from it.
I feel so ripped off, I want a refund.

Came here with a group of friends on a Saturday night and we loved it.
This is a very cozy restaurant with a lovely ambience and great decor.
The staff that also work here are very nice and extremely accommodating.
My favourite dish was the honey special.
Will be back.

Honey restaurant serves Authentic Persian food at reasonable prices. There are various options of lamb/chicken which are mostly served with rice or naan. They serve a complimentary salad for the most dishes and it is wonderful.

Overall, it is a hidden gem in the city.

The food here is super tasty and quite filling.
The servings are nice and generous and the service is also pretty good.
Waiters are attentive and the food comes out quite quickly.
The place isn't too big so if it's packed, it's hard to get a seat.
Nice little place to go for lunch.

Tried this restaurant from the zomato cheap eats collection as we were well trying to eat cheap. Best decision ever! The issue I had with some other Persian restaurants is that everything seemed dry. But the lamb we ordered were amazingly juicy and succulent. The amount of food was really good compared to the price. We paid $31 for 2 people for the food that can be seen in the photos. The location is a bit hidden but this place is a must try if you love Persian.

Nestled at a corner on The Other Side of Parramatta is Honey Restaurant, a Persian joint serving what feels like a home cooked meal. The prices are as affordable as you can get in Parramatta, in which Honey sits just a street away from Church St, a stretch of road packed full with oftentimes expensive chain restaurants and a bustling nightlife to match.

We walked in at lunch time and it was very much empty save for a couple tables. A friendly woman greeted us and sat us down at a narrow wooden table that seemed carefully arranged with heart. As it was my first time here, it seemed fitting to order the Honey Special which includes 3 of their meats- chicken, lamb mince and lamb fillet- so you could try one of everything.

In short, the Honey Special was excellent. Each meat was splendidly succulent and tender. I had a hard time deciding which was my favourite as each had a distinct taste and texture. And the saffron rice - life changing. This was my first foray into flavoured rice, and as someone who has had plain jasmine rice for as long as I had teeth, it just opened up new horizons for me. If you have a small stomach like me, then the Honey Special can be easily shared between two. We also got a side of Kashk E Bademjan (not pictured), a lovely eggplant dip filled with herbs and spices.

This little place is located in a quiet street in parramatta. The service is top notch as you will be greeted with warm welcomes from a guy. The food is so good and for the price, I can't fault anything about it. I loved the pomengranate in the rice, first time to try it and loved it. The chicken was very tender. I would definitely come back. Pity that the location isn't on a busy road, otherwise I think they would be very successful.

The honey special was awesome. The lamb mince was so succulent! Very cheap place and hidden away. We will definately be returning!............

This place is a true gem. The food is amazing. The hospitality is genuine and welcoming and they have excellent consistency. I have never left this place unhappy or hungry haha. As a picky eater I am not afraid to try new things at Honey Restaurant because they prepare each dish with purpose and it is obvious a great deal of care and attention goes into each meal. I am looking forward to my next visit!

Small but homely eatery / restaurant with nice portions and very respectful service. Food like this is uncommon, as is service. I'd rather get something here than be served or disregarded rudely as in some other restaurants nearby.

Great restaurant - The food was spot on and the service was great!!! We got the yoghurt dip, lamb shank and biryani rice which was perfect. Will definitely be going back !

My boyfriend and I are here during good Friday and their food was fantastic. Keeping my Persian tradition serving sizes were very generous. My boyfriend ordered the Chenjeh with rice and ordered Ghaimeh with rice. Both dishes tasted very authentic and delicious. I would highly recommend.

Excellent Persian food, friendly service and reasonable prices. The owner goes out of his way to make you feel welcome. I work in Parramatta and eat here at least once a week. Highly recommended.

Great restaurant with a unique homelike ambience. The food is excellent in terms of both taste and quantity. Tried a number of Persian restaurants and this one stands out high and mighty.

Friendly service and food comes on pretty fast for our lunch of lamb and chicken polo. The food can be served a little hotter but overall a lovely service and food is good for the price and location.

Went to Honey restaurant last friday, was not sure what to try in parra as was getting bored of the same old Thai and Italian places, me and misus decided to try this little gem. Was pleasantly surprised, pretty authentic persian cuisine, nothing too fancy but food was really good. We ordered the lamb and chicken with saffron rice. The service was efficient and the guy serving (I think also the owner) was extremely polite and efficient. Serving sizes were pretty large and quite filling. Overall a very positive experience - good food, great service and very good value for money. Will be back soon.

This restaurant is located close by the main part of Parramatta. We shared the dizi ($15) and sultani kebab ($15) and mast mosir ($4) with complimentary bread & sabzi. The kebab was delicious & well plated with rice topped with some zeresk. The dizi was very warming on what was a cold and rainy day.

Lovely food, especially the biryani. Nice atmosphere, great value. Highly recommended. Would love them to stay open a little longer, but otherwise it's a hidden gem.

Let me start off by saying, service needs improvement. Time to table is poor, consistency in menu items presented needs working on.

Quality and taste though, very good.
Decor, works.
Pricing is on par with what you'd expect for the area and serving size is perfect.

The biryani rice is cooked perfect and its decent grade. The shish kebabs are delicious and full of flavour. The let down is the naan, which is really just kebab Lebanese bread.

The owner is a lovely guy, very hard worker and seems to be balancing costs, service and restaurant management as they are relatively new, but do not be deterred by the opening paragraph I think this place has great food all round worth a try.
I have dined at Honey Restaurant 4 or 5 times now, and it has been amazing every single time. I have tried the Jujeh, Chenjeh and Kashk E Bademjan, the meat and the flavours are so delicious and the rice is so fluffy. From the outside, the shopfront looks very unassuming and quite small but I couldn't recommend this place enough. Plus, the owners are so lovely and welcoming!

A great little find. Friendly service and a real taste of Persia. Subtle flavours and generous services at bargain prices. Every bite, every tasting, brings a surprise. Its easy to walk by this little gem as just another kebab shop but it would be your loss. Step inside, try something new, its simple decore but big on flavour and heart. Don't let this gem slip away like so many family businesses. I was truly surprised and delighted by this find.

Had lunch here today by accident as walking past go get to car park.
Absolutely loved it! I'd been dying for Persian so it really hit the spot.
I ordered marinated lamb stocks served with rice -but I ordered an extra skewer. I also got acucunbrr yoghurt for the side. The meat was just yum and tasty and soft. The rice fluffy as a cloud and delicious - the yoghurt was also so good!
Attentive and kind service. I'm definitely coming back

This location seems rather unlucky as ive seen about 4 different restaurants at this place... hopefully this one sticks around. The food is tasty and cheap but if your really hungry you will need to order 2 dishes as the portions are small / average. Customer service is ok.
