Everything was perfection - the food, the drinks, the staff.
We had x2 small plates & shared the pork main which was amazing!
The staff were so warm and welcoming and suggested food options. Great vibe in the place as well.
Could not recommend this place more highly! Thanks for an amazing meal
My goodness the food was amazing.
My choice of meal was the lamb ribs, to die for!
Sticky, delicious with every mouth full your mouth just waters. I am from Melbourne and certainly will tell all my relatives in Perth about this place. I would fly over just to have this dish again. My friends had the steak, salmon and pork belly and loved their dishes too. Excellent service to boot! A meal to remember. Thanks
I ate Probably the best vegan food I’ve ever had here last night. I’d been out drinking with friends and was being super loud and annoying and everything, refusing to call the waiter that looked like The Weekend anything else apart from “The Weekend!” I even would sing the Weekends songs every time he came to the table “I feel it coming, I feel it coming!” They put up with all my shit and nailed everything! Thank you guys for being such a top class act, we are so lucky to have a place like yours in our little city. Thank you! & sozzi!
This place is always excellent. Just got some through UberEats, and they even threw in some complimentary baklava for being a bit late. Awesome.
Always great food and excellent service at Bivouac, I eat here about once a month when over in Perth , usually try something different...staff are always on top of things and fast friendly service
My favourite place to eat ever since they first opened. Always awesome service, chilled and fun atmosphere and delicious food.
Always 5 stars, delicious food, perfectly unfussy service. Consistently good over the 6 years we have been here - never had a bad dish
Delicious and inventive food. Perfect place for either a low key catch up with friends or a formal family dinner.
Thank you for a truly lovely evening. We would like to give Jeremy a huge thank you for taking care of us (which was a group of 10) when a mix up occurred, he offered a few solutions and took great care of us. The food was beyond amazing and each of us thanks the chef and all the staff for a wonderful night. We all said we want to come and eat again. Thank you
Fabulous place to spend your day....lovely food and very professional staff xx
lovely food, great service. will be back and recommend highly
Incredible service from initial enquiry, supported complex dietary requirements, Feed Me menu was incredible! So much variety and amazing flavours.
Service was so friendly and accommodating. Good timing of food coming out. Great selection of local and international wines. Overall very smooth experience and would highly recommend.
*Rating is a 4.5*
Bivouac has remained a firm favourite of mine for a few years now, with good reason. Modern, middle eastern inspired dishes with a unique twist, big on flavour, quality & coupled with good service. On our most recent visit, we ordered:
Grilled Kefalograviera cheese with honey (delicious)
Cauliflower (amazing, my favourite & a must try any time you visit bivouac)
Roast whole goat shoulder (divine & again a must try if it’s on the menu)
Potatoes (very good)
Carrots (bland, only dish of the night we didn’t enjoy)
Eggplant (pretty good)
Didn’t try the dessert menu on this occasion, but I do remember their fried doughnuts being delicious in the past. Definitely worth a visit if you haven’t dined here yet.

Bivouac, in the heart of Northbridge on William Street offers a variety of Middle Eastern and Meditteranean fare. The food is designed for sharing, including small plates and larger plates. We started with a mocktail – a citrus based fruity delight with a hint of sourness. From the small plate section we chose the Israeli duck liver pate with mustard kasundi, pickles and matzah crackers. This was such a beautiful dish, really rich and flavourful. The pickled radishes were incredibly good.
This place is so nice! Such good quality food to lighten up your mood :)
We ordered “feed me” course and that was good! But there were no details of that course on menu at all and they should mention it, I think. Staffs were totally awesome.
Outstanding!
I haven’t been here for a few years, but it was even better than I remembered.
Feed me menu was plentiful, and delicious. Every dish a winner. Staff were fab.
Highly recommend, and will definitely be back.
Been several times and it never disappoints
A small, friendly establishment, not overly styled or themed asthetic. We did the “feed me” option to feed a large group (preset menu $55pp). Very filling, and flavour packed, only minor issue was the goat shoulder was a bit fatty and eggplant was chewy, but over all exceptional in taste and presentation. Very friendly and engaged staff.
Bivouac: temporary accommodation; or a tent-like camping room. But I’d happily camp out at this Bivouac. I was blown away by the food. And the service was perfect. Laid back but effective. When we explained that we had a theatre show to go to at the nearby State Theatre Centre they were happy to make sure that our food came through quickly giving us plenty of time to savour without rushing.
The chicken musakhan was delightful. Perfectly cooked half chicken with a perky surprise in the 9spice skin crusting. The unusual middle eastern flavours wonderfully accentuated by the sweet softness of braised leeks and creamy babagounash with enough chilli bite to make it Interesting.
The seafood chraime had amazing flavours. And the staff were only too happy to provide upon request some freshly made flat bread to mop up the too-good-to-leave broth.
A side of charred broccolini with tahini, lemon and paprika was the perfect partner.
The wine list is small but - cliché - perfectly formed. With some interesting and international selections comfortably outnumbering the local wines.
All in all Bivouac is highly recommended based on my experience. And totally justified the price and my generous tip. Take a camping trip here yourself some time soon.
Tapas-style restaurant. I enjoyed the beetroot very much. Broccollini was delicious. But the lamb I thought was just ordinary with some bits quite tough.
Spent a very happy few hours last night at this excellant restaurant for a birthday celebration. We chose mostly the vegetarian options plus one chicken dish. This chef is certainly well versed in the flavours of the Mediterranean /Middle East as the complex flavours of each dish were well balanced .In addition to great food the friendly and attentive staff made for a great dining experience.I 'll be back !
Loved this place. Walked in at 4pm hungry on Melbourne time and they very kindly kept kitchen open and served a delicious vegetarian meal of classy middle-eastern specialties. Home-made pita bread to die for and grilled broccolini that I will dream about. Really lovely casual dining near the state theatre.
Finally went to this place after walking past it for years. Best decision we've made in a while! The staff were very friendly and (thankfully) gave us a heads up that we had ordered too much. The spcied mince with hummus life changing, and the cauliflower and jerusalem artichokes were also amazing. We'll be back!
We came here on a weeknight and it had a vibrancy I didn’t expect. The service was great, with recommendations made on the food but not so much on the wine or beer. We had share plates and they were all delicious! The hummus with mince yum yum! A winner. I’ll be back.
Absolutely one of my favourite places to go. Food is amazing if you like middle eastern flavours with a twist. Their pork belly is to die for and aladdin’s potatoes and cauliflower are just finger licking good. The ambience and service are great but it does get noisy so if you want a quite, romantic dinner for two probably not your location. However, if you love the hustle and bustle with amazing food, perfect place to go.
This little unassuming place is actually super cosy, with awesome staff and amazing food. Had a few things to share and it was all very delicious. Staff really are friendly and super accommodating. Drinks were on point with some really nice cocktails and wine selections. Menu is very well thought out with lots if options. Good eats!!
This place is great, the food is fantastic, well presented and the wait staff are rad.
It was a breath of fresh air coming here to enjoy a middle eastern inspired meal with some good wines in a fun atmosphere.
I think this is the first time I rate a place like this. The food is amazingly delicious! The staff is also very attentive and explained everything we needed to know. My friend is allergic to dairy and gluten and the staff were very understanding and accomodating. The menu changes every season and this time we had the potatoes, the lamb chops and the octopus. We had no complaints at all, customer service was fabulous! The octopus was not chewy at all, it was perfectly cooked, the side potatoes we ordered were crispy and tasty and the lamb chops were also delicious but the first two were my favourites.
It was a busy Friday night when we visited this place. Made a booking and was told that we had 90 min of dining time before their next seating. Fair enough. Food was good but not that outstanding. We had the eggplant, fried cauliflower dish, pork belly, whole goats shoulder which came with two sides of chickpea salad and roasted sweet potato. It was unfortunate the sides of chickpea salad and roasted sweet potato were only served 10 min after the goats shoulder and it seemed out of sequence to have finished the dish and to have the sides after. It was probably because it was a full house that night and the kitchen was very busy. Throughout the whole dinner one of the waiters seemed really stressed and kept pushing us to quickly order, eat and leave. Sad to say we didn’t get to try their desserts cause we ran out of time. Might be better visiting on a less busy day.
Delicious food and great atmosphere! The gnocchi is one of the best I've had, fluffy and the right consistentcy. Complements the the chef :)
Excellent food and incredible service.
Attention to detail upon presentation.
Great wine list.
So much flavour infused in their vegetarian dishes. Loved it.
Shame it's a small place because it's hard to get a table, but that's also what adds to the experience of eating there - warm lighting, cosy, and they have the spacing just right.
It was our first time here and the ambience and vibe is charming. The food really impressed! We had the cured trout to start, the lamb ribs and cauliflower crunch as a side. I never thought cauliflower could taste so good!!! I am not a fan of cauliflower and I could’ve sat and eaten the entire bowl to myself! Finished off with doughnuts for dessert (omg). Great service and I really enjoyed my G & G cocktail. We’ll be back for sure!
Two of us attended Bivouac on a Saturday lunch-time. I arrived in expectation of the ribs, which my wife had told me were fantastic!Bivouac is very unimposing at the front but inside, its a hipster's dream, with great art, exposed brick and a friendly BoHo feel. We were warmly greeted by a young lady who did a great job front of house and who offered various suggestions to help with our order. We ordered 3 dishes to share, with varying degrees of success. The first up was an Eggplant dish which came layered with haloumi and middle eastern flavours. It was topped with a some toasted large crumbs. All in all a very pleasant dish.Next up was the Gnocchi, with mushroom and radicchio. Dish of the day! The Gnocchi was perfectly cooked - nice scorching outside but light and fluffy inside. Beautiful.Unfortunately, the ribs were a let-down. I had been promised and expected the short lamb ribs to be in a gorgeous sticky sauce. Unfortunately, the chef has changed it up a bit and the (admittedly plentiful) ribs now come in breadcrumbs with labneh and pomegranate. A nice idea but we both found the breadcrumb overpowering and it left us feeling the kind of light nausea you get when eating too much batter!Bivouac has a reasonably extensive (but pricey) wine list but we just stuck to water. It was over $84 for us, which is not cheap but given the great service and the fact that one of the dishes was superb, I will give it another go.
5/5! So good. I came here once years ago and it didn't leave an impression but Thursday night did. We ordered three dishes: cauliflower and dukkah, eggplant and Haloumi and sticky lamb ribs. All must be eaten!
It was slightly on the pricey side but worth every cent. Great lighting, ambiance and service too.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. We left feeling really stuffed, good flavours and value for money. Probably the best meal we have had out in a long time.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly service and delicious food. The food highlight was the pork belly and the steak (no pictures because we ate them too quick) but the pictures below are the sausage and the goat chops which were both very tasty.
Service dropped a little towards the end of our meal when they got a little busier and they forgot an item ordered.
Me and my girlfriend just want to get a nice any cost place for our ladies night. We walked along the William street and saw lots of nice and new restaurant. Eventually we pick this one which turned out we made a good choice. Nice food! Nice services (especially for the lovely and great services from waitress Emily). Will visit again, 100%.
We've dined here many times and the constant menu update is always refreshing and never a let down. Unfortunately there are no pictures because we devoured everything so fast!
You're greeted by a green wall art that take form of bearded men, across you'll find art from independent artists that are available for purchase.
Their playlist is modern and classy, staff are always welcoming with huge smiles but a sense of friendship with their laid back cool personas.
We've dined with friends and also with our parents and each of them left impressed.
On our most recent visit we had
pork belly- perfectly cooked huge serving (was shared between 3.
soft shell crab- flavoursome sauce, crab was super crunchy despite being soft shell and the serving again was big for an entree.
middle eastern cauliflower- seasoned well, delicious and the chickpeas were a crunchy delight.
Lamb ribs- were the stickiest, meatiest flavoursome ribs we have ever had. Meat was super tender and slipped off the bones.
Fried potatoes: super crunchy but fluffy inside, the Harissa sauce matched well but seemed to be a little heavy on the potatoes.
They also make some amazing cocktails and have an amazing wine list!
Service is always excellent and the food even better. Highly recommend the Chef's 'Feed me' menu, perfect portion size and such good value. The Tom Yum cocktail is also amazing.
Pretty much my favorite place to eat in Perth right now. Everything is delicious, generous and reasonably priced.
Gnocchi - lovely, pillow and fresh. The house curd is very light, asparagus is perfectly crispy and the pistachio pesto is really cool
Hangar steak - really yummy and beefy
Fish - I don't actually eat fish, but I'm told it's perfectly cooked. And the sauce it comes with I can attest is beautiful
Haloumi eggplant starter - pretty much perfect, the cheese is wonderfully melted
Cauliflower side - JUST DO IT. I could eat bowls of this for days
Potato side - also excellent but please just get the cauliflower first. It's so perfect
Desserts - all amazing, just order them all, you can't go wrong
First visit last night on a recommendation from a friend. Food was delicious! G&G went down nicely. Staff was very attentive and friendly. Will be back!
Bivouac canteen & bar offers such a lovely and cosy dinning experience. The food is truly outstanding that writing this review is making me want to go back!
The chefs table offer is amazing! For roughly $55pp, the waiters and chef accommodate to your dining needs, allow you to taste almost every dish on the menu and if you ask, can pair up some amazing wines to complete your whole experience.
The desserts are absolutely to die for, if you think you're too full and can't fit it in.... you can! The desserts aren't heavy, they're simple and oh so delicious!

I've been to bivouac for two long table special events, ranging from the likes of softest Goat ever to all vegetarian and it's always delicious. If you go for their regular menu be sure to try the cauliflower
Great food! Awesome pan fried gnocchi and sticky lamb ribs.
Delish. Great and cheerful service as well.
Keep up the great food!
EDIT: Went on a busy Saturday with a group of 9.
Forget my last review. THIS PLACE IS PHUCKING AMAZING! Everything was amazing. Everything.
Go there!
Me.
Went to Bivouac at 8PM on a Saturday. The vibe was good and the staff friendly. We were offered the window table which was nice however the light above is was out so it was out with the phone to read the menu.
We ordered the cauliflower, fried haloumi, gnocchi and lamb ribs.
Unfortunately all the dishes were bland. It was really disappointing because the presentation was great.
I then visited Shadows Wine Bar up the road for wine and cheese (service and food excellent) we told the waitress about the bland food but she said Bivouac had a brand new vegan chef and encouraged us to let him settle in and try again.
Noble of her but once bitten....
Our meals started off with Turkish sausage packed with chilli and punchy spices, grilled flat bread, crunchy fried haloumi and olives. The entrees were probably the highlight of my meal.
Main I chose the Lebanese mountain style panfried gnocchi with asparagus and ricotta. Good flavour but very greasy. The serving looked small but it was very filling.
Desserts were my least fave part of the meal. We tried the pistachio and cardamon cake and chocolate rose tart. The cake was the better of the two but the chocolate rose tart was sickly sweet and very rich. Next time I wouldn't order either of these again.
The venue also needs better aircon.
Middle Eastern Tapas. Casual atmosphere. Helpful service.
Incredibly interesting food best shared, whether it's from the Small plate, Main or Supporting extras part of the menu.
Their plates have been tried and tweaked to perfection.
Good timing for sharing one dish after another, you're not rushed or left hungry. Each plate arrived with a reminder of its name and a brief description. The staff are clearly knowledgeable about the dishes and ingredients.
Overall a great place to really enjoy your food.
Don't miss the Kataifi and the Cauliflower crunch.
My friend and I scored the small table next to the window so we were lucky and it was a lovely evening. However, I think it would have been a rather uncomfortable evening if we had been in the middle of a bigger shared table or the little one in front of the door on a cold night.
The staff are very cool and fun and easy to talk to.
The food comes out surprisingly quick.
The food is very interesting! Definite points for the novelty and flavour of their dishes.
I just found the mains a little over priced.
One of the best places I have ever been. Food and service was 10/10. The owner welcomed us with open arms and he did not disappoint us. I literally left wanting to hug him I was so impressed with our dining experience. Don't blinded by other restaurant's on William Street, come directly to Bivouac. You won't be disappointed. High fives all round
Been here a couple of times now for dinner and was really impressed with the quality of food. I'm a meat eater from way back but the Cauliflower Crunch dish was so tasty, ribs are a must have too. Swordfish nice. Didn't rate the soft shell crab though, way too salty and oily. Good wines, decent service. Will be back for round 3 for sure!
Took a client here for lunch and was not disappointed. We only ordered 2 mains and a side but they were delicious.
Sticky, tasty lamb ribs perfectly complimented by pickled onions and yoghurt were the highlight. The fried potatoes and chicken chops were also very pleasing. Top this off with friendly and fast service.
Highly recommended for a mid week business lunch.
Bivouac is a cracker joint for pre-and-post theatre and everything in between meals and drinks. Both menus have originality and something on offer for those with specific dietary requirements. To top it off, the service and ambience are delightful!
Brilliant! Great food. Good prices. Go there!
We came across Bivouac by chance after a few drinks up the road. Our expectations were not really set, but wow! We were blown away by the food. Service was good and the price was really reasonable. We thought they had made a mistake. We had lots of food between 6 of us and various drinks and it came to $60 per head. Can't wait to go back.
Amazing food, very attentive staff. We had the gnocchi, pork, cauliflower and eggplant between the 2 of us. Good amount of food and reasonably priced.
I had an hour to spare for lunch so I thought I would give Bivouac Canteen a go. I have been here a few times for dinner, and both experiences have been exceptional. The first time we dined off the secrete menu which was an interesting concept, but excellent flavoured food. For Saturday lunch the place was not overly busy. I decided to sit at the counter and ordered the Barricas del Plata Torrontes from Argentina and roasted swordfish green chermoula, crispy potatoes and pistachio aioli. The wine came quickly, and it was a refreshing splash of white that would go well with the fish. The fish took 30 minutes to appear, and asking the waitress, was told that the swordfish was quite a large steak so needed time to cook. I ordered another glass of wine and the waitress gave me a generous serve. When it did eventually arrive, and with only 10 minutes to spare before my appointment, I had to wolf it down. Firstly, the dish was beautifully plated, and first bite, it was perfection. Fresh, delicate, melt in your mouth; extremely nice swordfish. The potatoes were flavoursome and crispy. Only then did I realise I had ordered a very fancy fish and chips. Loved the dish and would order it again on a day that I am not on the clock and able to enjoy the flavours more. Overall, friendly and knowledgeable staff on the food and wine, excellent food, great art and nice atmosphere. I have not hesitation coming back.
The food here is good quality and well portioned. The staff are always busy and running around but friendly, which is always a treat in Perth. I love the quirky decor and the atmosphere on a busy evening.
They are definitely packed out around Fringe Festival time, along with most Friday evenings and week day lunches. Worth a visit.
The food is nice, service is good and please looks beautiful. Would I recommend- yes. Would I be back- not sure.
The name of this place always sounded like an industrial cleaning agent and I had to look it up to discover that a bivouac is a temporary camping ground. That said, I hope this Bivouac is permanent! We popped in for some light bites and ended up going for the soft-shell crab and their charcuterie plate, along with a glass of Argentinian malbec each. The wine was good. The food was delightful. The soft-shell crab was particularly delicious when dipped in the accompanying sauce. The charcuterie plate was beautifully presented and loaded with five different kinds of meat as well as cornichons, pickled cabbage, celery and cauliflower and served with warm flatbread. Simply delicious. Will definitely be back!
We came here on a non busy night at 6:30pm. It was quick to get us seated and ordered. We shared the mezze platter and the lamb between 2 people. The mezze platter was much bigger than I expected it to be, we were so full and the lamb hadn't even come out yet! On the platter there was flatbread, caramelised onions, quince jam, hummus, halloumi and they all paired perfectly together. The lamb was so soft and melted in our mouths. It was just mainly fat.
We came here a second time and ordered the malawach soft shell crab taco, fried potatoes and lebanese mountain gnocchi. It was all soooo amazing and the flavours worked so well together!!
Came here for a Tues casual dinner! We just walked in and they had a table for us! We ordered the Porterhouse, Slow Cooked Pork Neck & Fried Potatoes. All dishes was very delicious and reasonably priced! Highly recommended for dinner with group of friends as the portions they had were very large and everything was so tasty! Definitely will be coming back!
On a busy Saturday night, our group of girls visited Bivouac after a recommendation. Wow the food was amazing we all had a selection of smaller plates and everyone was so impressed. Great service and the place has a really relaxed vibe. Can't wait to visit again.
Really enjoyed this place. Girls were great with service. Food was spectacular👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I just have one thing that bugged me, I ordered the freekah green bean salad(specifically for the freekah) but it was pearl barley😩
Okay noted, I'm being a spoilt sport, but it would be nice if they had told us.
All in all amazing. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Good food and service, even on a stormy night. Very reasonably priced as well for such a good quality meal! Definitely recommend the buttermilk fried chicken and whitebait.
This place had been on my list of places to try, it was packed on a Friday and did not disappoint.
Love the lighting and the ambience.
The staff were really friendly and service was really good.
We ordered a few shared plates, the grilled halloumi , watermelon salad, buttermilk chicken, salmon taratori with charred fennel, panned fried gnocchi, crispy pork belly. Food was well presented, great flavors. Could not fault the food.
Great wine list..
Definitely go try this place if you haven't..
Had a great Friday dinner at Bivouac, we ordered a glass of Malbec, a Pom Pom shrug for drinks , then whitebait, porterhouse, and salad. Whitebait was good, salad is average , I really love the porterhouse dish, the sauce was spicy and steak was fine cooked, some piece is a bit chewy but that's normal. Really good vibe and lighting, really nice wine. Perfect for dating . Also love the quote on Bill : It is the journey not the destination is the reward . 😂😂
Very good food and attentive service. They even sped up our meal, so that we could make a fringe show on time.
Try the pork belly.. stunning!
Great food, flavours, service and relaxing fit out. Charcuterie board is definitely a stand out and great value for money. Would go back again for sure!
Went on a Tuesday night with a couple of friends. Ordered the borek which tasted good but the pastry wasn't quite right for me. Apparently they had an issue with their pastry delivery and maybe normally it's better? The gnocchi with beetroot was a really nice dish as was the 48 hr lamb neck which had good spicing. My friend ordered the steak as a main which came with crispy potatoes and onions. I don't eat steak but I liked it. I had the baklava which had good favour but the pastry was a little soggy so a bit disappointing. We had Malbec by the glass which was nice and one of my friends had a stickie which she loved.
Second visit had the sausage and buttermilk chicken, they were both amazing, love this place :)
Great service, great staff, great food. Reasonably priced. Had the crispy buttermilk chicken, haloumi salad and the crispy pork. All cooked well, not too dry. Tasty, without being too salty. Had the white chocolate and beetroot ganache for dessert. Not too sweet. Nothing to fault. We'll definitely be back.
Don't get me started. The burger. The burger is the best tasting thing in this entire world. My girlfriend and I dream of the day we get to go back and demolish it again. Perfect menu, perfect portions & the service was good. Love this joint
Despite the problems with the service people have addressed on this page, I found the waitresses to be both friendly and helpful. In particular, the lady who greeted us at the door was absolutely delightful. I was able to order fairly quickly and enjoyed the charcuterie platter without the mains being delivered early as many restaurants tend to do. For mains, the pork belly was the perfect balance of flavours and was a great size for two people. To finish off the meal we had the goat chops which were perfectly seasoned and delicious. Overall I spent a lovely evening at bivouac and will definitely be returning.
We had an early dinner here on a Saturday night before heading to the State Theatre. Good service and great wine list. We ordered a pizza and a charcuterie board between two and it was a big meal for two.
The charcuterie board had some lovely specialty meats, pickled veg, onion jam and terrine. The chef probably needs to revisit the terrine recipe although it had nice flavour it was incredibly dry. We had the lamb pizza which was delightful.
All in all I would go back, nice ambiance!
Stopped by on a Monday night and was so surprised by the awesome prices they have on! Not sure if it was for Fringe but $5.00 pizza boards was so cheap that we ordered way too much and had to take the leftovers home. The 90s music was pumping and won my heart in an instance!
Ate here on a busy Saturday night. There was a waiting list for tables but fortunately for us one popped up straight away. The food is a high standard for the price you pay. Great wine and beer selection as well
Saturday lunch. To start Whitebait was crispy and not to greasy with the frying. The sucuk sausage was a surprise, such good food spice flavourings. For main gnocchi with Beetroot and goat cuts looked was played well and they flavours went together. Also had goat chops which cooked perfectly thought the sauce lacked flavour. Chocolate and cardomon mouse for desert was rich, the shortbread a bit hard to cut, but the star was goat cheese ice cream which can with white chocolate and Beetroot ganache, so different but worked really well. I would return.
Absolutely loved this place! A group of 8 managed to get seated and all loved dinner! The small plates are so delicious with interesting flavours and combinations. Can't wait to go back and try the pizzas. Favourite dish of the night was cauliflower dukkah. Highly recommend!
Yum! Pan fried gnocchi is the winning dish complemented with the French rose'. The lamb pizza was lacking in toppings and a little salty for my liking.
Delicious and flavorsome eating. We had the holoumi salad, green bean salad, patatas bravas, gnocchi, goat chops and porterhouse, followed by the dark and white chocolate mousse. Drinks, also great.
It's quite a small place and they don't take bookings for dinner so we were lucky to get a table, the place filled up quite quickly. A group of five of us ordered a few dishes to share, including a pizza, pork belly, fried chicken, gnocchi and cauliflower. All the dishes were good, and everyone agreed. A great place for tapas.
Scrumptious.. I've been numerous times now and it's become a favourite. I've had outstanding gnocchi, salads (I normally find salads boring but not here), mezze board, lamb, pork belly.. Oh their coffee and cocktails are good. I have yet to have a mediocre meal here. Everything is flavourful. Service is always friendly and knowledgeable.
Ordered approx 6 different dishes and 3 of 4 possible desserts. Didn't want to look greedy, If I was going to be picky I'd say patatas bravas could have been crispier but other than that zero disappointment and an excellent meal.
Another fabulous dinner at Bivouac. We had the black barley, gnocchi, manchego cheese and dessert and it was all excellent and reasonably priced. The best part was of course the Tom Yum cocktails - they were just too good :)
Visited Bivouac alone on an early Saturday evening. Having never really dined alone I was slightly reluctant to do so, however I was comfortably seated at the bar and didn't feel the slightest bit as awkward as I thought I would.
Nice drinks menu with a good range of Australian and imported beverages, with bar staff happy to make recommendations.
I opted for the Moroccan vegetarian tagine with onion jam and green harissa, and was recommended to try it with the grilled malawach bread. The tagine was very flavoursome and vegetables cooked nicely, the onion jam and harissa worked exceedingly well with all the flavours. I did however have to ask for additional fresh chilli, as well as chilli powder, for that punch I needed it to pack. Unfortunately I wasn't a huge fan of the malawach bread, it somehow reminded me of frozen/reheated roti (sorry).
Finally I must commend Emily on her outstanding service. Friendly, engaging and attentive; I felt very welcomed by her. She definitely stood out, thank you.
Overall a positive first experience and I would return for the delicious tagine, good beer and kind service.
Went there with another couple of people.
Really nice relaxed feel with a great vibe. Menu had great options and we got the board, lamb pizza, sweet potatoes and calamari. Food was fantastic! Good sizing as well. Only complaint (and minor one) would be that they were really stingy with the lamb - literally one tiny peice per slice. In saying that the base was really nice and thin..the other toppings were nice and all worked well. I saw the next table get the pumpkin which looked amazing and heaps of topping.
Would def go back to try some more food.
Service was great in person and over the phone.
We were brought to Bivouac by a good friend who lives in Perth. It's a pretty chilled out little restaurant - great for dinner with a group of friends. We shared a bunch of dishes - charcuterie board, lamb pizza, lamb riblets, burghul tabouli, gnocchi & goat chops. The highlight was the sweety, tender riblets. Pretty decent food and at very reasonable prices for WA.
Owner Anthony Princi and his team came up with the name of the Perth hotspot to reflect a meeting point amongst the hustle and bustle where friends and colleagues can gather in a relaxed casual environment. The concept for Bivouac originated during a visit to Melbourne in 2011 as Princi remembers it – “bunkered up in the “The Blackman” Art Series Hotel in St Kilda to be precise”.
Great meal. Great service and food was delicious! Got the goat chops, pork, brocillini and sweet potatoe chips. All came with delicious sauces. We got some bread to mop up the sauces as recommended.
Wine suited perfectly and the desert was to die for!
Also great service. Best meal we have had for ages!
I really enjoyed the food and the service here was very attentive and friendly, we ordered the fried halloumi salad, chips and Yemeni pizza. All the food was delicious and altogether was very filling and satisfying- being reasonable on price.

We enjoyed the flavors and combinations. We had a great time, as we ordered 5 dishes to share, all very good and even the dessert was excellent. Good place to go.
Love this place. Staff very accommodating & welcoming, service was great, food is amazing, flavours are unreal! Would be a perfect Friday after work venue. Looking forward to going back.
Yummy top notch food. Great cosy atmoshere, perfect for brunch if you're shopping (or working) in town. Decent service, nice ambience. Will be back.
This my favorite eating place in Northbridge that I found purely by accident. I had some meals on my own as well in a group and 9 out of 10 can be recommended. This place is unlikely to catch your attention while browsing the streets of Perth and the bar&canteen in the name doesn't describe its potential.
I love the hip design and relaxed atmosphere and especially the finger food that you can share with others. Having the chance to try out so many flavors at once is a great experience and also a conversation starter so I can easily recommend it for couples on a first date ;)
I've had pretty much everything from the menu so it's good they tend to modify it once in a while. The goat chops, baby calamari, lamb riblets, pork belly bites and pretty much everything is worth having. There was absolutely nothing we disliked. The beer and wine selection is good and we enjoyed the stickies (sherries/portos) most with Perez Barquero 12yo being my favorite....truly sticky and honey like.
The slight disappointment was the dessert. The gelato sandwich was quite nice all the time but I had deliberately tried the brulee three times and mentioned to the waiter that it was not set properly the first and second time. They also got it wrong the third time and somebody else also mentioned below the same thing happened. Why does the chef even bother with a brulee if he sucks at it?
In general a nice place with great food (less desserts) . The service was attentive and relaxed and talkative when approached. Prices are slightly above Perth average but it's a trendy and hip place so that should not be a surprise.
Bivouac never fails to impress me. They have an excellent food and drinks menu and I enjoy trying the new additions whenever I come. Food portion size is perfect for sharing with other companions.
The gnocchi was divine....I just wish there was more beef cheek on the plate! Our pizza was also very tasty.
Drinks were very yummy and could not fault them.
I do find that prices have gone up slowly over the years but at least the quality hasn't changed.
