Review Toast - Perth

Nice spot right on the river Tried the Turkish eggs which was delicious, a pretty good size and good value for $21 and a cappuccino My buddy got the chicken rosti, it looked delicious and be liked it , pretty expensive for $24 I think but still nice. Worth checking out if you're in the neighborhood.

Nice little Cafe on the Claisebrook cove overlooking the water. The food was 50/50 for me. My rosti was disappointing but hubbys nasi goreng was delicious with massive amounts of fresh seafood. The coffee was great but grapefruit juice was not fantastic. Its a cute place with a nice vibe but I'm not rushing to go back any time soon

Every time I have come here, (usually Saturday or Sunday mornings) they are hopping. Fantastic coffee brunch for me and my beau. He enjoyed the savoury Spanish Scrambled Eggs, and I ordered Fritter Me Timbers. SSE was complete with light spices, chorizo and fantastic fluffy eggs. FMT, oh my! The layers off sweetness off set by the grilled halomi made those poached eggs into the best dipping sauce. I was over the moon. And as always - the Almond Milk Lattes were great too!

Busy lovely lil'cafe. We had made reservations in advance so did not have trouble getting a table but place was near max occupancy. Had to queue to place our order and then had a bit of a wait (30 to 45 minutes) for food to arrive. Lots of time to chill out, read and chat 😀. Food when it arrived was delicious and lovely!

Good coffee quality Food is fine The reason I like here is location Near river is a relax place

You can tell from the huge number of people and river views that this place does an amazing trade. The food is great, lots of smoothies to choose from and a chance to sit in the sun (or shade)

Love this place & have been there many times! The food is always great & the location down by the water’s edge is absolutely stunning. You just can’t beat it for breakfast on a beautiful day!

I dined here for breakfast I ordered the Egg and Bacon bagle whilst my significant other ordered the smashed avo. Both meals were exceptional and I was very impressed on the wait time as the restaurant was very busy with maybe 2 tables spare. The price was pretty fair at around $55 all up for two meals and two drinks. Have recommended to all my friends that they should try it at least once.

Usually a good spot but this morning we were horrified! I have no issue with people taking their dogs out to breakfast but today what we saw condoned at this cafe was disgusting. People with their dogs sitting on the chairs at the table and a couple even eating food off the plates!! YUK!!! One of the staff even took a bowl of water over to a patron and her dog (who was sitting at the table) and placed the bowl on the chair so the dog didn't have to go on the ground. Surely this breaches some kind of health code!! People who take dogs to cafes should keep other people on neighbouring tables in mind instead of being so self absorbed and the cafe should have some kind of regulation in place which makes everyone feel comfortable and able to enjoy their meal. Never again.

Went for breakfast this morning with friends. Beautiful scenery and great service but the food was average. I got the savoury granola with roast tomato expecting there to be much more tomato and bit to the dish. I had 3 cherry tomatoes and the rest was nuts with a spiced yoghurt. Very difficult to eat as my jaw was killing me after 4 mouthfuls... I would suggest less nuts more fresh tomato's and possibly some soaked oats to eliviate the difficulty in eating this dish. Didn't feel the food was worth the $16 for majority nuts, 1 egg and yoghurt. Other than that the staff are great!

First time discovering this busy hidden cafe, I was surprised how "warm" it feels to be there. We had a delicious vege burger and ricotta crepes. The size was just perfect and the prices are correct. The owner was really welcoming and smiling, as well as the waitress. The view is a bonusïżœwill come back for sure.

Toast is a hidden gem in East Perth. A cup of coffee with their homemade sweets (carrot cake is a must try !) are all you need to enjoy yourself by the waterfront. I especially love their various choices on the menu and all of them are available ALL DAY !! Staffs are very friendly and helpful as well. Can't wait to go back !
Janet Fisk
Perfect Sunday morning breakfast spot. Lovely location, efficient, friendly staff, great coffee and oh yes the breakfast wasn't half bad either! We'll be baaaack!ïżœïżœ

Perth’s Best Kept Secret TOAST in Claisebrook Cove is amazing. Love the all-day breakfast. We rocked up today at 3.15 pm and enjoyed a scrumptious late breakfast. Hsu the manager orchestrated our eggs and toast plus extras. Connie the barista made us the perfect coffees and Tash the waitress not only served us but baked a magnificent carrot cake. After our late breakfast, we decided to get our timetable back on track so we had afternoon tea. We ordered a piece of Tash’s carrot cake and it was deliciously fresh. I highly recommend TOAST to anyone who loves breakfast. The staff are not only extremely efficient but super friendly. It's the perfect pit-stop if you’re cycling around the bridges.

Beautiful food, beautiful setting & beautiful staff! We are a sizeable group of parkrunners who have fallen upon Toast regularly on Saturdays. Although always busy, the staff (& the charming Stacey in particular) bend over backwards to accomodate our group. And of course, the coffee is great, so much so that I ordered a bowl of cappuccino last week...perfect! ïżœ
John Hooker
Excellent food served with great enthusiasm and friendliness by the staff, especially the French 'duck dude' at the front of house! And not a dog on a table licking food off a plate in sight! Great location too!!
Taryn Cawston
Best eggs benny ive ever had! The chef cooked my eggs medium as i asked... not many chefs can/will do this. The Staff were awesome(was a busy sunday morning and we had a pram, the staff made us comfortable and made room for the pram) the views were pretty awesome too.
Dan Smith
Visited Toast this morning for the first time, the staff were friendly and prompt to seat us. The vibe is relaxed and casual. The breakfast we ordered was great, nice fruit juice too (made on site). All in all Toast is somewhere Id definitely go for breakfast again, very nice .
Aaron Prince
Possibly the most underwhelming breakfast I’ve had, scrambled eggs that are tasteless and more like an omelette...oh and how can you forget to put “toast” on the plate!
Kate Deklerk
Always busy but a good waiting system. Went for breakfast yesterday 5 minutes wait great staff, great food I rn fritters avocado and eggs husband had Bircher muesli all delicious and lovely scenery.
Jayde Ash
Love the atmosphere of this place and they have a great and interesting selection of breakfast and lunch options. Beautiful outlook and really bubbly staff. Always enjoy my visit here 😊
Susan Lindberg
fabulous place, great staff, a real buzz. great location with great views. coffee is great and the food even better

I have been coming here since it opened always loved this place I have bought many friends and family and family from over seas but I feel totally ripped off I ordered the mushroom feta rocket poached egg and linseed toast with an extra egg 19.90 That's a lot for a little food I got two mushrooms two eggs a tiny bit off feta and about 10 strands off rocket one slice small toast Shame on you Toast I won't. Be coming back value about 10 Dollars feeling very ripped off

Went there for a lazy breakfast on Monday morning. The scenery, ambience and location carry you away to another land...... really felt like we were on a vacation, maybe even the South of France. My sister and I are on a Keto diet so we are very careful not to have any carbs or sugar in our food, so we were really pleased to learn the hollandaise was made in-house with only natural ingredients - butter, oil, and lemon - I think. Anyway, no added preservatives, sugars or starches, which meant we could indulge. We asked for the bread on the side (my boyfriend loved that) and were chuffed with the way it came out with the hollandaise in a little pot for us to help ourselves. It was delicious!!!! My boyfriend got corn fritters, with a side of bacon. Huge!! Which he didn't mind at all!!! and he really enjoyed it! Definitely coming back for more and looking forward to trying the corn fritters when I'm not ketoing as well as all the other yummy in-house treats they make!!!
Emma Louise
I was really disappointed. The coffee was in the smallest cup and consisted of mainly froth and the vegimite and egg on toast with avocado was not even presented as a meal. Won’t be coming back.
Irene Kennedy Smith
Love this place, and staff are great, we always visit when we take a walk round the river, give it a shot, you will definately go back.
Jessica
Cute little place in an awesome location. Huge portion sizes! Pulled pork and slaw bagel was the bomb!!
Clara111
Staffs are friendly and the atmosphere is super nice! Ordered steak sandwich, eggs Benedict and smoothies. All very good, but they forgot arranging my smoothie... a bit disappointment about that!
Celine Sceresini
Bland avocado smash.. no seasoning what so ever and poached egg came out as a boiled egg. I asked the waitress if there was any chilli flakes to put on the avocado smash and she said you’ll have to line up and pay.

Came here on a Saturday morning and it was quite busy outside but managed to get a table. Obviously the draw card of this place is location, being near optus stadium and overlooking claisebrook cove.<br/><br/>The place did seem a bit tacky, however its a nice place to bring kids. Food was okay, the tomato is the best i have had anywhere, nice and sweet. Coffee and cake pretty good, but service was a bit snappy (understandable for peak hour).
Fe-Rin FeRnita
Great coffee and nice atmosphere to sit in for breakfast but service needs some improvement. Staffs weren’t smiling nor attentive for both of our visits
Kate Price
Was in the area after 4.30pm and really wanted coffee. This was the only place I came across quickly that was open still. Service was prompt and I got a takeaway brownie as well. Coffee was divine and the brownie was ok but would’ve been nicer fresher and heated. The location is wonderful and the scenery on a sunny day would be fantastic. I’ll definitely be back when the weather improves.
QueenLad
BREAKKIE // AMBIENCE - Being right next to the water and another cafe means that the atmosphere is busy yet calming, so thumbs up for ambience. Service was friendly. FOOD // The egg white omelette was very disappointing as it was more of an open pan egg pancake than an omelette. However, the french toast was delicious - thick crust bread, not overly soaked or doughy. RECOMMEND // French toast.
Kristen110
The eggs Benedict with bacon was delish! It was a generous size and I really enjoyed it! The outside area was fully packed as it was a lovely sunny day however the inside was practically empty so we sat in there and it was ok... but not as nice! They got one of the orders mixed up but went to the effort of recooking completely which was not expected but appreciated!
Lakmonsta
Always so hectic in here. The last few times I have been, the wait on food has been too long for what you then get. It’s nice but I’m not rushing back.
Bensonmoomoo
Nice view. Prefer seating outside. <br/><br/>Brownie was soft and gooyee. The price was alright for a small coffee and cake. (Around 10) . Coffee was great. Will be back again
Yeriel H
I would say 3.5 stars. First, staffs are very kind, energetic and friendly. Coffee want really good. We ordered flat white and vanilla latte. Flat white milk foam was too much and not smooth enough. We also ordered some food. Big breakfast and salmon&egg Benedict. Taste was okay but no garnish at all... looks not tasty.
Tumtum
Great location and friendly helpful staff, but let down by the quality of the food. A little more effort sourcing ingredients and dish preparation might make this worthy of the 4.3 star rating is has somehow managed to acquire.
S
Stopped past Toast on a Friday morning after a walk around East Perth. It was busy, but we were able to secure a table outside. Service was friendly and prompt. Coffees were nice and we shared a slice, which was also tasty. Reasonably priced too (total $16).
Finleyhimawan
One of the longer standing brunch place in perth. The place is really cosy and nice, the food is basic and yet yummy, the service is also pretty good. The coffees are nicely done and a perfect start of the day. Their classic fritters are fresh, the egg hollandaise is nothing to fault whereas the croque madame is quite tasty although I was hoping it’ll be coated in egg. But their food are definitely classic brunch menu and they tasted good!
Lady X
Wanted to have a quick brunch since I was in that area and I chanced upon this place. Pleasant surprise! Service was good and the lady who served me was really friendly. I had the chilli egg special, which came with poached eggs, mushrooms and spinach on top of bread. Simple but very tasty. I sat outdoors too cause the weather was great and the views was nice
Dottore Vince
What a wonderful setting for the locals. Beautiful Victoria gardens nearby and Sourh cove . Very popular spot for brekkie and rightly so. Good food, good service. Also popular for the over seventies Lycra warriors on their bikes.
Foodie In Paradise
Walked past this cafe to grab a quick coffee in the morning. I could not resist to try out their dates and chocolate slide, it was really yummy and not overly sweet. Coffee was good too.
Eunice
Thanks to entertainment book we have a nice dine in experience with toast! The food and drinks came out a tad bit slow even though the restaurant was only half filled with customers. The food was quite nice, I had the corned beef hash with fried egg, the sunrise juice was a little bit on the bitter side but obviously they use real fruits!
J-in-Perth
The food is really lovely & different but not pretentious. The location is gorgeous, especially on a sunny day. <br/>It would score higher but the wait was just way too long. And the serving staff didn’t know the ingredients when asked (told something didn’t contain wheat then (fortunately) another staff member overheard & corrected that.. yes it did)
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
Iv been here a few times! It can be very hit and miss and the quality of food changed depending on the day. Witch is quiet sad for the prime location it has. It had so much more potential.<br/><br/>I ordered the veggie pumpkin breakfast it was really nice until I tried the mushroom it was full of so much oil I left feeling sick!!! Check photo for the amount of oil. <br/><br/>I also had a omelet which was a little dry but it was ok!<br/><br/>My friend had a bacon and egg roll they loved it then <br/><br/>There ice coffee are amazing! <br/><br/>
SweetPoison
Came here for breakfast this morning. Lovely view. Service was lovely. Charge 50cents extra for takeaway coffee. Ordered my usual sides - asked for half an avocado instead of smash, which they happily accommodated. The avocado wasn't quite a half... or even a quarter. Didn't complain as staff all lovely and food reasonably priced. In entertainment book also.
Libby Hinton
Have usually enjoyed having a juice and light meal here but found our experience there on Saturday very, very, very average. Food lacked flavour and care, thank goodness for the juice and view and the staff member who tried to accommodate for the lack of quality of the food. Very hesitant to return.
Diner Olive
Lovely setting beside Claisebrook Cove. This place is nice to visit briefly or for a long chat. The food and coffee are quite nice too, and they do refreshing juices too.
PeckishKiwi
All day breakfast on the water front. <br/>Excellent corn fritters with avocado, poached eggs and hollandaise and french toast special had strawberries, double cream and chocolate sauce. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and a lovely view. A local gem with lots of parking nearby. <br/>Will definitely be back
Good Food Good Mood
It was lovely to sit outside by the river and enjoy the light breeze. I got my health component ticket off from a juice which are freshly made to order and because it seemed non negotiable to order anything other than a breast substance at an establishment named Toast I opted for the naughty yet delicious rocky road on challah. They had lots of yummy sounding combinations but I wanted to try something a bit different and enjoyed it immensely. <br/>Kind of a basic set up but gorgeous views and plenty of variety on the menu. All very reasonably priced too
BKAKA
Came here on a public holiday and although the staff were friendly and the location is really cool I got a large soy chai and it cost me like $7? And what came out tasted more like sugar and cheap soy milk than a chai latte. The tables inside were really small (especially with 3 people on them) and the banquet seating looked like it had not been cleaned in a LONG time. Outside seating was more comfortable but still very intimate as all the tables had been pushed so close together and they were trying to sit too many people on tables that were too small.
D
Poorly presented, average tasting food. The rhubarb rasperry compote on cream cheese bagel was literally just a toasted bagel with compote and a blob of cream cheese on the side. Won't be coming back anytime soon.
Frankie
Coffee was great! Eggs Norwegian on a wholegrain and a potato pancake which was so yummy!! Home made hollandaise sauce gets extra points. Nicole had eggs Benedict with tge potato pancake too. I was rather jealous I didn't get it with bacon. Had a chocolate brownie and caramel slice and caramel slice was like no other I've tried the way it was put together YUM!!

Visiting from Melbourne. Picked up takeaway coffees, which took an unnecessarily long time to be made. Their service seems very chaotic - they make people order at the counter instead of table service, which means there's people everywhere in the way and the staff have to keep directing people where to wait/stand. Staff didn't seem very keen to be there and service was crazy slow. $9 for two takeaway coffees, so I guess you're paying for the water views?? Coffee wasn't good - flat white was weak and milky, and long black wasn't drinkable - they fill the huge cup with water, so the coffee to water ratio is way off. Wouldn't return.
Damofromperth
Great location and popular hangout. Can be busy at times. Highly recommend corn fritters with bacon and maple syrup, it's a must! Awesome brunch spot đŸ‘ŒđŸ»

Amazing! Love it! I wish I worked in the area so I could come here for breakfast and lunch everyday to try the whole menu. Simple but reliable grub, nice view, lovely staff
Perth Eater
Really good breakfast. Quirky little restaurant. Have been disappointed a few times when arrived to find no seats available. Good location with views of the water. Good coffee.
Melissa
Ordered a crossiant and the bacon corn fritters. Poorly presented, very average, overpriced food. Recommend going around the corner to the kinky Lizard. Nice location is the only plus.
ToMaZo
This place is brilliant. Situated overlooking a river in east Perth and buzzing with activity. The menu contains an impressive array of breakfast dishes focused mainly around toast. I opted for wholemeal toast with banana and crunchy peanut butter along with a chamomile tea. Very enjoyable and the bread itself seemed home made. My wife opted for zucchini and cauliflower fritters which she also enjoyed. Will definitely be revisiting before returning to Melbourne!
Love Eating Out
We ventured out for breakfast on a Monday morning thinking it would be quiet - but it is very popular and we had to wait a few minutes for a table outside.  The location and decor is great, very welcoming and a beautiful view.  We ordered the full breakfast and the crepes to share and both were delicious.  The fresh juices were great and the coffee fantastic.  Will definitely return!
Julie
Food was average but portion is smaller than other brunch cafe. Compared portion its pricy. nothing special. just normal average but nice location.
The Go Go Mumma
Love, love, love... I have been coming back to Toast for years now! But I still haven't tried everything on their menu, which I must say is extensive and utterly mouth watering. Toast is great for breakfast or brunch (haven't been for dinner) the only downer to this place is if you don't arrive early be prepared to wait. Located on the riverside in East Perth with a pretty waterfront view, nobody wants to leave their table.
Dough Nut
Love the location of Toast, a smallish cafe with seating spilling out to the East Perth waterfront. Toast is a handy option if you're walking or riding in the area on the weekend; when parking and seating space can be a challenge. <br/>On week days there's a better chance of personalised service. Food menu and decor are relaxed. I'm a fan of their apple and blue cheese with honey, on fig and walnut toast. Prices are spot on.
Coffeeperson02
Friendly staff but super chaotic and long waits. Food was nice but nothing overly special. I'm glad we stopped by but I wouldn't rush back.
Bottomlesspit
Sweet little spot! My coffee was beautiful and mine and my dad's breakfasts were tasty. They offer loads of different toast toppings along with the usual suspects for breakfast. The staff were friendly, bar one lady who didn't seem like she wanted to be there. All in all it was a pleasant experience.
Your Everyday Customer
SAVE YOUR MONEY - NEVER COME HERE<br/>- Essentially bread and spreads...could've pulled the 'meals' out of my pantry cupboard.<br/>- Everything on the menu (I say 'everything' but I did only try four meals - sad that stomachs aren't endlessly expandable) sounds so much better than the product. You pay for 'toast with peanut butter and banana', expecting some funky gourmet looking meal because you know...$10 and all. Wrong. You get literally two slices of Coles looking (likely not fresh) bone dry, toasted-ten-minutes-ago toast with some Kraft crunchy peanut butter slapped on there and a banana sliced in half. Yum. đŸ‘ŽđŸŒ<br/>- Cutlery came out dirty <br/>- Wrong drinks brought to our table <br/>- Had to ask for the poached eggs as they were forgotten with one of the meals...and when they did come out they were so plain. No flavour. Just dumped in a ramekin like, "Lol hey I'm an egg." Mmm, delicious. đŸ˜·<br/>- Staff seemed unprofessional...or rather, lacked in basic hospitality experience. They looked like children.
Amira Harwood
Used to be my fav breaky place but ruined due to terrible food. What happened? Is there a new Chef? New menu is not proving great and cooking is pretty poor! <br/>If you get inventive make sure it tastes good!<br/>Even scrambled eggs are over oily and seem like an omelette gone wrong.<br/>Dukka egg dish was the worse meal ever tasted - I fell physically sick after a bite.<br/>Really disappointed and hope the food gets sorted out cos such a perfect spot.<br/>
Nichola Starkey
This place is popular and it was worth the wait! Great coffee, I loved my breakfast and so did all the other patrons. I'm taking a point off as my warmed side of skim milk was missing but promptly served when asked for it. I had the porridge for the fact that it fitted into my macros as I'm on comp prep. They were also able to accommodate and add a side of strawberries. Very happy and will be back for something scrumptious when I can eat anything! Can't wait!
Gav Beeck
Had the Eggs Bene' for Father's Day with the family. Worth the small wait to get a table. All thoroughly enjoyed food, coffee and atmosphere
Bee
I used to absolutely love Toast but this morning what a disappointment. Granted we only ordered coffees and a savory muffin each but the coffees were burnt and the muffins were at least 2 days old. They were so dry they wouldn't break down whilst chewing. C'mon guys that's just not acceptable. I have no doubt the breakies are as good as they've always been but think about the small things too. It's a shame cafes will always be busy due to awesome locations but they also need to deliver fresh food worth going back for.
Evonne
Crowded because of fantastic food. Servings are small for price but the flavour is all there. Chorizo big breakfast was really tasty - especially loved the grilled tomatoes. Cauliflower & zucchini fritter with salmon was quite good too. Ordered additional corn fritter and ?cauliflower fritter which were small for the price. The cauliflower fritter seemed more like a zucchini fritter but it was delicious - fried perfectly! We had the Entertainment voucher so it was really worth it. Very casual setting, like a diner by the beach. Nice atmosphere. The staff is a bit mixed, some very nice and friendly, others a bit stressed by the crowd. Lovely walk by the cove.
Some Like It Hot
Had the chilli mushrooms with poached eggs on sourdough. Eggs nicely poached and just a hint of chilli. Side of corn fritter I wasn't bothered about. Love the setting by the river, recommend :)
êč€í•œë‚˜
this is worst place ive ever been. <br/>those price for this toast, definitely not worth it. <br/>they need to improve their breakfast cook. <br/>never gonna visit again..
MSG Foodie
If you are looking for a brunch / lunch place with a view, this one is top notch! Such serene view of nice houses on the river. Can't go wrong with East Perth.<br/><br/>They have good coffee that doesn't disappoint coffee lovers. Food wise is good but menus are quite basic.<br/>
Adam_gustiv
Why oh why do I not come here more. There is one big reason to come to toast and its the man that they put in charge to run the whole show funny relaxed and knows his job to a T. After going to 3 different venues and being told it would be at least 20 mins we arrived at toast and was told that it would be only 10 (even though it was busier than others) and to not worry it would probably be sooner   because I qoute he says  #don"t worry I got this#. Which he did very much did. Our food was brilliant that good hearty vibe  of the food is not be underestimated. Also the location of the river is AMAZING.
Anna
Went here recently. It used to be better. Was a bit sad at the portion size of my vegetarian brekky. It left me starving. I suppose it was pretty busy that day but still would have liked more food.
Foodieperth
I really shouldn't be writing a review on Toast as I didn't order their specialty (Toast), I ordered their Bircher muesli because I was obsessed with muesli at that point😂 It was $10.50 for a small pot of bircher muesli. The muesli was quite dry, and the fruit on top was quite nice. I also had some of the porridge (also $10.50 for the same size), and it was lovely, warm and sugary, perfect for a cold day. Next time I come I will actually order their toast.
Blainie
Awful over priced coffee, so bad in fact that I didn't even drink it finished. Will not return. Making rubbish coffee is not cool. Making good coffee is not difficult.
Foodie Fella
Stay away from the cauliflower and zucchini fritters unless you want a soft bready fritter. This needs a change of recipe ASAP. The big breakfast was ok, and coffees where nothing special. A bit surpirsed they were so busy.
HotChocolat
Nice place very well located on the water. Good food and coffee! Service is nice. We normally stop over for a coffee during our weekend walk around the river. Would recommend to all.
Lauren Binks
Always a winner! My husband and I love a lazy Sunday morning, so it's comforting to know that if it gets to 2pm and we still haven't eaten breakfast, Toast will always be there to welcome us with no judgement and plenty of bacon. It's in a beautiful spot - we often ride our bikes there and stroll around a bit afterwards. The menu is extensive and has something for everyone. The coffee is good and the fresh juices are always delightful. Toast is the perfect place for breakfast, brunch or brinner.
BREAKFASTforever
A Sunday brunch fave. There used to be a French guy working there who was super friendly and would always go out of his way to make your morning fantastic but unfortunately he is not there anymore. Coffee is good and French toast specials are delicious but sometimes hit and miss depending on what day you go (best one is the blueberry and ricotta).
LittleGirlBigFood
Toast is a place that has been around for quite some time. It is always busy. The question, that to be honest, still remains somewhat unanswered is that is it busy due to the fact that it is good or is it busy due to the trendy following that has become unquestioned over the years. I hover toward the latter as I was relatively unmoved by my breakfast. Yes it was nice and tasted good but I didn’t feel it warranted the wait time and the surrounding hype that went on.
Joe
We had nice decent meal with good ambience. Nothing fancy. Dont expect pretty food, they didnt put much effort presentation-wise. But imagine if they kick the quality up a notch (i.e Harvest cafe standard)!! <br/><br/>Will be back though when strolling in east perth :)
Veevee
Terrible service- had an experience with a rude staff member at Toast. The coffee is average, and the food lacked flavour- I ordered a savory crepe (chicken) and it was very bland. No reason to return. Cramped dining setting.
S Baird
Came for lunch, went home hungry. What a rip off. I was left speechless when my warm beetrot salad arrived and it had $1's  worth of ingredients in it.  Tiny servings, huge profits. I won't be going back.
Foodie Is My Middle Name
Been here a few times now, I've never been disappointed with the food, drinks or service..though sometimes I wished that the portion is slightly bigger. But it's not so bad that it has put me off. Now, one thing that really bothers me during my last trip here though is the cleanliness of this place, and that's more obvious if you're seated inside. The once beige couch has gone tatty and brown. There are usually flies everywhere and yes it's Australia..but hey it is not the norm in all our cafes in Perth. And then the floor - don't look may be the best.
The Ponder Room
I first reviewed this place on my blog back in 2014 and can say it's still great today. Congrats. I love chilling out here on a weekday morning.
Pravy
Came here for brunch after hearing good things. Ordered the potato, fetta and mint smoked salmon with poached eggs and a mocha after waiting 15 mins for a seat as it was very busy. Was rather disappointed as there was very little salmon and the portion size was very small for the price. Atmosphere is great but won't be coming back anytime soon.
Gareth Hamill
Great place for breakfast. Coffee is also very good. Hard to find a nicer place to enjoy breakfast with this kind of view on the city's edge.
Artiom Moscaliov
Although this place is highly recommended by many and consistently scores high reviews I must say we were disappointed. The location is great and the service is was fast. Coffees are delicious but food left us wishing we had gone elsewhere. We ordered the cauliflower fritters, poached eggs with asparagus and the blue cheese crepe with mushroom and fried capsicum filling . Fritters were rather bland and dry, the salsa tasted as if it was prepared the day before. The crepe was ok, roasted capsicum and mushroom were nice but the blue cheese stuffed inside overpowered the whole dish which already had normal cheese melted on top. I know it was a blue cheese dish and I love blue cheese but in this combination the blue cheese is all you could taste well after you finished the meal. It looks like Toast is resting on their previous success like so many places used to do in Perth. Competition is growing though and there are many nicer places to catch a quick and delicious reasonably priced breakfast.

Toast in East Perth has been a Perth breakfast institution for years. When I was in University years ago I remember heading there with a friend but hadn’t been back since, even though it had been on my list to revisit. When my friend Clay came over from Canberra, I thought it would be the perfect excuse to finally return to Toast for a gourmet breakfast.
Williespants
Great location with dining area along the river side in the Cove of East Perth. The atmosphere is very relaxed. Their freshly squeezed orange juice is always a winner on a summers day. Food wise, we ordered the cheesy Vegemite brekky and the vegetarian brekky. Vegemite brekky was ok, very cheesy which was good. The vegetarian brekky was quite bland to be honest, the cauliflower fritter was a let down - but the eggs and tomato's were done quite well. There's many other brunch venues better than this, but the location helps boost the mood.
Sybarite
Love location at Claisebrook Cove. Always very busy! I'm not sure if they still have the option but I remember them doing half size meals for half price which is a fantastic option! Don't think I've seen it anywhere else. Doggy friendly too. Only "issue" I've ever had is one time asking for the girl behind the counter to choose a juice for me and she was completely incapable of doing so. Not in her job description I suppose!
Alanna Northcott
Wow, what an amazing place to eat, as a family person I strive to take my youngest sister out and about for new yummy treats. Toast is simply amazing for children, they love the atmosphere just as much as I did. The corn fritters are to die for! Scrambled eggs on toast is perfect for the little one not forget babycinos as well. The banana smoothie is the best I've had in Perth. I hold this cafe in great respect.
LifestyleByLily
We queued for a little while on a hot sunny morning for breakfast and mulled the menu as we waited.<br/>Shortly after ordering, our coffees arrived to the table. It was a really nice blend and sting, just what I needed!<br/>Food was very underwhelming, I didn't find it much different to the other breakfast spots.

Starting with the positives, the food at this place is quite decently priced I was impressed with the flavours in my rhubarb and cream cheese bagel, and the wait on food was not too long, with attentive and happy staff. However, I was very disappointed with the general cleanliness of this café. Tables were left dirty, and there was at least four flies in the corner booth that we sat in, which I realise cannot always be helped in the Australian summer, however it just added to the whole feeling of grime that we felt as we perched on the once beige and now literally brown couches. My friends tea strainer was also dirty and rather than replace the strainer with a new one when she asked, it was washed and returned with the presence of the milk stain still apparent. I would suggest to anyone wanting to visit this café to sit outside and avoid the inside of the shop as it seemed you could quite happily sit here and be none the wiser of the issues with cleanliness inside, however for myself I will be trying the kinky lizard down the road next time.

Wow all day breakfast just incredible food and service. Milkshakes are amazing have been several times and will be going back service! !!!!!!
John Morley
My long term favorite cafe in Perth, Staff are always fun and service awesome as is the coffee and food. The water front location is one of the best in Perth
Franceska Gontran
I love Bircher muesli! But this one is like glue! Max Bircher-Benner would roll around in his grave! Come on Toast, you can do better than this! Nice compote though!
Thingy
Tried this place after a variable experience at partisan next door. Scrambled eggs didn't impress. The mocha was not good either. Average at best. <br/>
Lisa
Nice location and view, below par food and service. Breakfast took an hour to be served, which is fine if it's worth waiting for but my meal was tasteless. The corn fritters were bland, the eggs so over cooked they were a chalky and inedible mess. The hollandaise was an acceptable flavour but there wasn't enough to hide the bland taste of the rest of the meal. A missed opportunity.
Sez
As always, toast delivers a sensational breakfast and caffeine hit. I thoroughly enjoyed potato, mint and feta pancakes with salmon.<br/>Thank you ladies for your smile and your good-nature.
THE ILLUSIVE FEMME
Love the water front location, love the decent prices and love the food even more! The menu is pretty standard but I always order the corn fritters - they are something special. The eggs are always poached well and the quirky interiors make the place.

Birthday breakfast before work on a week day with the children, thanks to the birthday fairy. This is a super location and we sat outside in the early morning sun. The jacaranda blooms around the bay make for a very pretty spot. Our breakfast was just great and the service was spot on. The vegetarian daughter was happy with her corn fritters, eggs and avo. Always good to have happy kids on your birthday. The coffee is good but the take away service on our roadie was slow so make sure you have time to wait. I like the way it feels to relax there so the atmosphere the cafe creates is certainly a strong point. Next time we might ride our bikes there ...
LifestyleByLily
The waterfront in East Perth is such a pretty place to catch up for breakfast. I had the pleasure of meeting Hayley from Primping Perth for breakfast on a sunny Sunday morning. Considering we have tried to go to Toast for breakfast before we decided to meet a little early however we still had to wait about 15 minutes before getting a seat inside.
J Smith
Efficient service and a beautiful view overlooking the lake. The food is ok you're only really paying to have breakfast with a scenic view. The servings are small and the offerings are nothing special.
Myanita
Toast is a great place for brunch! Lovely environment and warm ambience. They have a good spot to enjoy our foods with a great view of Swan River just in front of their cafe. Their foods are very delicious and lovely. I really want to go back there when I visit Perth!
Kiwi FIFO Chef
Always a pleasure to eat at Toast! Very friendly service, efficient staff, and good systems in place to ensure you receive what you've ordered. The food selection always has me wanting to eat more than I should! Great coffees too!
Scott Mierendorff
Had corn fritters and cauliflower fritters which were very nice! Freshly squeezed juice is a must as well! Great ambience sitting on the water in the sun is a nice way to start a Sunday!
Spill The Beans
Went to Toast with a good friend of mine for breakfast as we are both breakfast fanatics and it did not disappoint! <br/><br/>I ordered the Vegetarian Full Breakfast and it was absolutely delicious. It came with two pieces of multigrain toast, two perfectly poached eggs, asparagus, roasted tomato and wilted spinach and I didn't need to eat until late evening.<br/><br/>Definitely will come back for the food and the view which is an added bonus!
Emz
Beautiful place to have breakky. Nice beautiful view. Lots of people dining here and obviously got to wait a while for a table. They give you a duck for their queuing system. So eg King duck - table for 4 - they will identify you using the duck you are holding and not by your name. Self order at the counter, and they will send the drinks and food to your table.<br/><br/>Personally it was difficult trying to even tell the chap in charge of the seating to be placed on the seating list. He seems to be rushing through and not wanting to listen to what you have to say. But cut back many times by saying Ssshh wait, I"ll get back to you etc. Maybe he should slow down a bit and take time to pay attention to new patrons coming in to just be place on the list. He is busy no doubt but good to take a few steps back for he ends up being abrasive and rude in his customer service. Other than that, i really liked this place.<br/><br/>I think sitting outside would have been perfect with the view. I had a table inside and it was a bit noisy. <br/><br/>Coffee was good. Food was good as well. Price wise reasonable for the location. <br/><br/>Parking can be a little challenging to get for this area.<br/><br/>Definitely worth trying.
TheCrocRockers
This is a good location. Liked the queueing system. We were given the giraffe to mark our place in the queue. Next time, we need a crocodile. There was a place to park our bikes in view. Menu was good and extensive choice. We were all mostly happy with our choice. Coffee was a bit weak. Service was friendly and efficient but the wait was long because of crowding.
Nogz
$5 for such an average coffee.... will never buy a coffee here again. Rip off! .
Foodrinkperth
Enjoyed our coffee, fabulous view, quick and efficient service despite being busy. Was disappointed last time we had breakfast here but will happily return for coffee.
Low Pui Ngai
Location is right next to a riverbank, hence the dining experience was overall pretty chill. Had the smoked salmon on a toast with some tomato salsa and avocado, and a poached egg. Really decent breakfast, simple and no frills. Service there was really friendly.
Sook Kwan Loong
My favourite brunch place to go. It's always busy during peak hours but the view is beautiful and the food is excellent. Definitely recommend trying out their specials.
Comment Mike
So I normally go next door but based upon reviews I gave them a try. I was very happy 😃. The coffee was good being drinkable black and with limited milk as how I like it. The food based upon my simple choice was well better than average. Nice job guys !! Bang for buck is about what you hope to expect.<br/><br/>Will I return?? Right occasion for a simple quick brekky and coffee ....... yes !
Emily Tan
Went there on Sunday and they were really busy. However, the staff greet us with a smile and gave us the little duck toy as a waiting ticket! We ordered smoked chorizo, chilli mushroom and dukkah scrambled eggs, and we were all happy with the food. They serve coffee in XXXL mug (or soup bowl?)!!! For coffee drinker, you might want to experience this huge size of coffee!!!
AngMohAsian
Really happy that I returned here. Pretty solid coffee here, you might be disappointed if you order alternate milks, as the crema might not hold well. The breakfast was great, I had the chilli mushrooms. The dukkah scrambled eggs were awesome too, and the bacon with it was great. I had extra chorizo, while tasty enough, did lose some of its nice moist juices cause they butterfly the sausage to make it cook faster. Definitely a nice place to have brekky. Go for it!
Martha Sanders
We went there for breakfast this morning and it was absolutely amazing. We basically built our own meal by getting toast and then adding on the extras we liked. I had the home made beans, grilled polenta and mushrooms. The best beans I've had in Perth!
Klassy
This place is situated along the riverside so the view was very nice. However we felt that the menu was quite overpriced. Expect to pay $10+ for bread and chocolate hazelnut spread. Ordered the cauliflower and zucchini fritters, expected it to be crunchy but turned out to be more like pancakes. They make really good poached eggs though. We also had the spinach and blue cheese crepes. The serving came with two crepes where one had virtually no blue cheese in it at all. So that was disappointing. Staff were friendly but the food service was very slow even though it wasn't so busy.
Victoria
Love toast, go here for brekkie then head over to the royal for lunch! Their menu is delightful, lots of favourites on there and a bonus is the location and view. Enjoy breakfast while looking out over East Perth.
Foodie R.
Love this cafe. Nearby the river so you get a stunning view. Food looks simple but delicious, that's all you want for a decent breakfast. Staffs were friendly but prepared to wait for awhile during peak hours.
Hollie Robertson
Absolutely the best breakfast I've ever had. We went on a busy Sunday, and although it was extremely busy we were still seen to and taken care of while we waited to be seated. The food was some of the best I've ever had. Definitely our new favourite breakfast spot. Will be returning
Pierre
Food's good but the wait can be a while. The location is great and so is the service. The crowd is large this speaks for itself. <br/> "I'll be back" if I'm in the neck of the woods.
Dale & Hannah
We visited at around 11am on a week day - it wasn't too busy and had a relaxing and casual atmosphere with a pleasant view of the river. The ham, cheese and mushroom crepe was a pleasantly generous size, and inside they did not skimp on the fillings. The beef and fennel panini was toasted and well heated through and quite tasty. The staff were friendly and efficient.
Kateress.n
Went here with friend a few years back when it was quite new and wasn't very impressed, I went back today and still it's very average. I had the dukkah eggs with tomato & avocado. The toast wasn't buttered, the dukkah was mixed through and lost in the eggs, no crunch no zing or nuttiness, all I got was eggs that tasted like cinnamon with tomato salsa on top. Weird. The other breakfast was ok, just poached eggs with bacon but the bacon was dry and over done and the toast was really thin. Coffee was good. Cafe needs a de clutter, paperwork and back up cups etc all over the place, menu's shabby, staff dropping cutlery and plates, filing about the kitchen prep areas.
MF
The best thing about Toast Is the fantastic location on Claisebrook Cove sitting in the sunshine - not much beats it. <br/>The coffee and juices are always good.<br/>The food menu is great and the dishes delicious but the quality can be a bit hit and miss more recently. The corn fritters my favorite.<br/>The staff are friendly and obliging but it can be busy and so service can be slow which is okay if not in a hurry.<br/>The worst thing is the uncomfortable seating which although part of  the cafe's charm but can be wobbly and uncomfortable
Shark82
I've been here a few times now and have always had a good experience.  Was here last weekend and the staff were particularly friendly, the food was just as good as always and the coffees were pretty good as usual.  The full breakfast was a pretty generous portion, and the norwegian toast and potato, mint and feta cakes were a nice variation on some of the usual dishes.  Lovely reliable cafe.
MsUnderstated
Toast is a beautiful gem of a cafe. The place is always packed but you're never waiting too long for coffee or food. Coffee is always good, and not overpriced when you add soy. Staff are excellent and efficient. By far my favourite local cafe!
JO
Really great atmosphere here. A wide selection of food available and everything sounded great. Had the Eggs Norwegian, which was amazing. Seemed to be really packed for a weekday lunch!! Great spot
Foodcourt
Food was fine, although hard cold potion control butter? Mondo meats, posh bread then...western Star in plastic? 2 waitresses great. The third rather rude. Service slow. No hello when I got there, and no thanks for coming when I left. Not going back. Can't be bothered with " 'tude " that early in the AM.
Kenneth Lopez
Food was excellent! blue cheese and pear toast on fig and walnut toast ...finally a bit of culinary european flare!!! thank god!! this is what Perth needs!! service was good, they certainly know how to de pouched eggs!! <br/>The only issue is table allocation and they need good cutlery(could not cut my toast and had to ask for a better knife).<br/>tables should be re-arranged outside to provide more options for seating.
Munchie Junkie
Always a long wait for nothing special.
Thebreakybunch
Great spot for a early breaky with my friends !!. Very friendly and professional service, good food and well presented.<br/>I like the cosmopolitan feeling of the guests.<br/>Thanks to the cute asian barrista to helps us find a spot on the waterfront seats.<br/>Well done girls and boys.<br/><br/>The Breaky Bunch

Delicious!. We went here for brekkie this morning and loved it. The service was super-friendly from the get-go and we only had to wait about 10 minutes for a table (during which time the kids had a play near the water).<br/>It's always a good sign when the coffee's good, which it was, and the food that followed was delicious! <br/>The kids had the crepes with maple syrup, which they loved. The serves were quite big, too. <br/>I had the corn fritters with poached eggs, avocado and hollandaise sauce on top. Yum!! The eggs were cooked to perfection and the sauce wasn't overpowering, as is often the case at other cafes. <br/>My hubby ordered the eggs benedict with mushrooms and loved it. <br/>The guy who served our food (French I think?) was delightful... such professional service with a smile! <br/>We will definitely be returning. :)

Expected more.... Went to toast for breakfast after hearing great reviews.<br/>After we paid for parking and finally found the place (very secluded area) we settled in and ordered. The corn fritters with avocado and poached eggs were nice but nothing to write home about. After all the excellent reviews we had heard, we expected something a little special. The only special thing about this place is the elite clientele and the view - we did manage to spot a few famous sporting faces there.<br/>I think Toast is moreso for the rich locals that live in the East Perth apartments around the streets - you don't want to pay for parking in a place where all you are getting is breakfast, and an average one at that!
Elly-Mae
Friendly and welcoming staff but I was highly disappointed with my breakfast and how long the service took. The toast was dry and you couldn't cut the pieces at all and overall the breakfast just looked unappetising. I was really excited to finally try Toast but I don't think I'll be recommending this place to anyone
Nat's Visitations
Though a little pricy, I felt that it was worth it given that the food was 9/10, coffee was 7/10 but the view and atmosphere was 10/10. I ordered the fritters with poached eggs and grilled asparagus were delightful. Everything on the plate was cooked to perfection and I really enjoyed the dish. My partner, a more hearty eater, ordered the full breakfast and it was a lovely concoction. The service was welcoming and it made us very comfortable. I throughly enjoyed my experience and it's definitely worth a try if you're looking for a place to have brunch!
Jellee Babee
Nice food, friendly service. Came here from brunch today. The girls behind the counter were very friendly and mega-helpful on the gluten-free / coeliac side of things. The roast beef sandwich I ordered for my kids was a generous serving - two GF sandwiches to one serve for $12.90 - can't complain about that, although a surcharge of $6.90 for Burgen GF packet bread was a bit cheeky.<br/>My ricotta, honey and almond crepes were yummy too and the gluten-free Choc Decadence cake we all shared was a deliciously-rich ending to a lovely lunch. My short mac was nice too but not legendary.<br/>Toast is by no means a huge cafe and I can well imagine the weekend queues!<br/>Probably the only criticism today would be the speed of service - waiting 30mins for 2 sandwiches and a serve of crepes was a little on the slow side but they redeemed themselves with the quality of the food and of course, that magic view.
Ana91
Amazing service, food and view. Staff is polite even when they are extra busy, the food is always delicious. One of my all time favourite places to go for breakfast!
Prestons Disciple
Good cafe, attentive and courteous service. Went here for brunch on 28th Feb. Wait staff welcomed us courteously. <br/>Ordered the following: <br/>1. zucchini fritters with poached eggs and grilled asparagus, score 8/10. Perfectly cooked poached eggs.<br/>2. Grilled polenta with cheese & mushrooms with corn fritters on the side. Score 8/10. Corn fritter was pretty good. <br/>3. Juices - cowboy and bugs were made fresh and were delicious. <br/>Overall $52 for 2 meals with juices and a fantastic view by the river and good attentive service. Worth a try.

Friendly Place with Good View. Cute little cafe with a good view to boast. Service staff were friendly & at all smiles. Will return!

Cute little place. Very cosy & friendly place. great food choices. nice little spot to chill out with friends by the river! thumbs up!
Katrina
'Toast' great service. Went for Breaky on Australia Day, brimming with people, but they stood us in the shade to wait for a table, which we got pretty soon.<br/>Best service we had had in WA for years, fab French guy looking after every one there, lovely food, great views, will go again.
VK
Great coffee over looking the man made water feature.
Matt Tierney
Nice. Food tastes like a unicorn has farted a rainbow into my mouth!

Nice Food. I had eaten here a few times and found the food to be good everytime. Meals are overpriced for what you get (scrambled egg crossiant for $14). Food is delicious but you are paying for the view. <br/>Sweet crepes are nice but again 2 for $14 and the serve is small. Definnitely a place to try if you want the ambiamce also.
Michael DP
Breakfast Menu is quite comprehensive and I believe was too confusing. All sounded good but nothing really stood out. I opted for the dukkah scrambled eggs which I enjoyed (although a tad over priced). The food was tasty and well presented.<br/><br/>The staff are efficient and friendly. The coffee was adequate at best. Juices were definitely a highlight. I would rate this cafe at 3.5 stars overall.

Attitude that should lose them customers. Went to catch up with a mate as I knew he'd been heading to Toast for breakfast. He had been told "Oh I'm sorry we don't serve individuals except takeaways" so they lost his business and then lost mine too. <br/><br/>I can understand they want to maximise their seating but be professional or buddy up single people, don't be cold and rude to a customer because they're on their own. <br/><br/>Toast needs to learn a lesson in customer service or perhaps find better staff?

Fabulous waterfront location, food was delicious, some different menu choices! One of the best brunches I've eaten in awhile!
ITADAKiMASU
Wow this place is packed. Very cramped and crowded. Food is towards the pricier side considering the simplicity of each meal but you get decent portions and very fresh and well prepared. Loving the mist sprays outside to keep you cool. Except for when you don't want to get surprise-misted in the face. 2 thumbs up!
Esther Walker
Very Tasty. Great great great coffee! Plus a yummy breakfast.... Roasted tomatoes had sooooo much flavour! Lovely sitting by the water first thing in the morning too. Better breakfast than The Partisan!
Rasberry_cha
Just a disclaimer. It says that Toast is vegan friendly, but be warned! I went not long ago and found slim pickings for the fruit and veg munchers...
Allaboutfood
The menu is creative and covers all genres. Location is picturesque and you could be somewhere in Europe. Small tables, some bench seating and it befits the cafe scene. My daughter had corn fritters, scrambled eggs and bacon - she loved it. I had cauliflower and zucchini fritters (subtle vege flavours), asparagus, poached eggs and tomato. It was light, beautifully cooked and presented. We will be back for more.
Mo Loves Chilli
Very basic breakfast only menu, took so long to get our meals even though it was basically empty. Over priced bland food. Only good thing is location and French waiters! I hope this gets replaced with a better quality more substantial menued restaurant
David
Like getting food from a food truck. The photos available on Urbanspoon do not do this restaurant justice. The food we received last week is more of what you would get from a food truck rather than a restaurant. A lot more average than what the photos make it out to be.<br/><br/>I definitely will not go here again.
Sammy
Perfect location and service. My partner and I ate here on a Sunday morning, we only had to wait around 20 minutes which was quite fast considering we were 5th in line. We were given a little toy animal to reserve our place in line, I thought this was a great way to order groups. When a table came free we were seating very quickly with water. The hostess was polite, playful and funny, such a great face to have welcoming customers. It is not table service and the inside of the restaurant is incredible small and quite cluttered, this made ordering a little uncomfortable. We were seated outside which was nice as the restaurant is in a beautiful location with a great view. My partner ordered a nutella crepe while I got bacon and eggs, the crepe was packed FULL of nutella! My meal was quite good, coffee was a bit average. Overall I would say the service & location is what sells the restaurant most however I personally wouldn't eat here again.
Delizioso
Very inconsistent. Been here several times, and each time it's been very different. The first time we came here for brunch it was lovely - the service was nice and the corn fritters were delicious. The coffee was also tasty however the last few times I've been it's been pretty average. The corn fritters (was one of my favs) was burnt and the coffee was also watery and not drinkable. Haven't quite out my finger on why it is so up and down but don't think I will be back to try it again, jut in case I get another downer day.
Hilman
Was not even busy and it still took ages for our food to come out.
Porridgebrother
Joy!. I stay about a three minute walk away from Toast so I have been there several times, and it always has been a delight. Good food, lovely ambience and kind staff. P.S. try their white chocolate decadence, it is AMAZING!
Meeka.quab
5 stars, 10/10, 100%. First things first... I've only written one or two reviews on urbanspoon before, so it takes something big for me to do this.<br/>Toast has a great range of breakfast meals available ALL DAY which is a late Saturday risers delight but the best thing about these guys is their service.<br/>They go out of their way where it really counts.<br/>Thank you Toast!
Joyce16520
Great service & food, but coffee ??. Been here few times and always enjoyed-- food, service, coffee and especially the waterfront view! Went to Toast again this morning with my new flatmate, it was very busy but quick and friendly service as usual! Tried open sandwich with smoked salmon, tomato salsa, and avocado-- so fresh so yum !! Coffee not good though --the only fault today. Still love this place. I'll always be back!
Michael Robinson
Very few coffee places have their efficiency of making coffee down pat. Toast does not. A painful wait. <br/>Yello in North Beach is the best/quickest I've seen.
CJMortimer
What better way to spend your sunday morning having breakfast in east perth its so beautiful. Breakfast was yummy!although the corn fritter was a bit bland. Overall very nice though and service was great
Jt
I must say this is the best breakfast I've had for my holiday in WA so far. The eggs are to die for
Raul Perth
Only white egg omelette in Perth. In my top 3 breakfast venues in Perth for food. I just wish they had more space or configured their tables better! Great choice of breakfast options, certainly not the usual crap you get in 98% of other venues in Perth. Omelette is as good as any I've had. Coffee is good too. Service is ok.
Dan Engles
Reliably great!. This place every is one our favourites for a late breakfast. The late afternoon sun makes sitting outside one of the best weekend experiences you an have in Perth.
Murry_cahill62
Eggs Benedict. Definitely one of the best eggs benedicts in perth!
Food Lover
Thumbs UP service!!!. Was here for lunch and with great service, we stayed longer for more endless lattes and cakes lol. Food was great and staffs were fantastic!!!
Trixytrax
Nice but plain!. The service was fast and professional, which was impressive as it was so busy that there were over 10 people waiting for a seat! ....I wanted to love it as the location is lovely, but unfortunately I thought it was just OK. The biggest disappointment was the toast ......a surprise considering that they are called "Toast"! My "white sourdough" seemed no different to supermarket bread. It was 2 thin machine cut slices with no "substance", and it tasted yeast risen rather than like a true sourdough. I never understand when cafes don't serve thickly cut quality toast! My eggs were poached perfectly, and the avocado and tomato were fresh, but there was no wow factor. No herbs, no olive oil, no garnish, no greens, nothing special. I would have done much better at home. The view was lovely and the tea was excellent (though my husband said his coffee was almost cold). I would probably stop by for a takeaway hot drink, but not sure that I would eat there again as there are lots of other places that do serve great toast.
Perth Foodie Niz
Love going for a bike ride round the river and coming here for breakfast! Pros - great location and food! <br/>Cons - long wait! Average coffee.
Candice Damopoulos
OVERRATED. So overrated. Me and my mate ordered the two items that the waitress said were her "absolute faves". I had savoury crepes that were disgustingly cheesy with no real flavour. My friend had the corn fritters which were also tasteless.<br/><br/>We decided to come here after seeing such great review on here. Major letdown. So average!
Mary T-soon
Very average. My meal was ok but not outstanding, the other halfs meal was bland and not enjoyable. Coffee was ok. Location is awesome and the staff were very friendly. Would go back for a drink but over $50 for 2 very small portioned breakfasts and drinks?? Bit steep Toast!
Redbull
Stopped for a quick breakfast. Adequate probably sums it up best food wise though some of the prices are a bit rich. Still it is in East Perth. <br/>Quick service was a highlight
Kat
YUUUMMM!!. Went to Toast for a Sunday brunch and loved it. Although it was busy as we got there a little later than intended - around 9am so we had to wait for a table to come free - only around 5 mins or so though. If you want the nice outdoor seating, I would suggest to come VERY early, otherwise you are indoors. Inside is kitschy and funny - bordering on tacky - reminds me of Nana's house with all the little keepsakes and momentos dotted around the room. Despite this though, the food was lovely. I ordered Potato, Mint & Feta pancakes with smoked salmon and poached eggs, topped off with Sour Cream and Chives. It was absolutely delicious. Cooked beautifully, and didn't take long to reach the table. My husband ordered the Corn Fritters with Bacon and Maple Syrup, which he pretty much gets every time he comes here now as they are his favourite. They were pretty good, almost made me wish I'd ordered them too after I pinched a bit of his! Can't speak for the coffees as I'm not a coffee drinker, but the hot chocolate was good, hubby reckoned his coffee was fine too. The drinks came out fairly promptly after we were seated, then the meals weren't too far away either. I like Toast and will definitely be back, although I will make sure next time to come earlier as it would have been much nicer to eat outdoors.
Jules D
Don't bother. Went to Toast for lunch, thinking Royal would be expensive. Bad call. Very basic (meant to be hipster I guess, but just basic and run down). $42 later for one coffee, caesar salad and roast beef sandwich, and water in a plastic cup. One slither of shaved roast beef in the squashed flat turkish bread. Two tiny shreds of onion and capsicum, but lashings of hot chilli - so that you could taste nothing else. Only saving grace was really nice and friendly service. Apologetic, but I wonder if they are embassed to work there?
Benblob
Tat. Tacky, overpriced, sub standard - these words sum up toast perfectly. I live on the cove and was so looking forward to trying this place. Give it a clean!!! The toilets are disgraceful and the tall lady on coffees - very strange. Portions are quite small. Feel sorry for the staff who have to run around as they obviously under staff to save money. wont be back. Owner needs to sort ethics.
James
$4.50 for tea are you joking!. It's a busy cafe, on the waterfront in East Perth. The menu is interesting, but if you just want a quick breakfast be prepared to check with your bank first. <br/><br/>Toast offers white bread toast at a staggering $5.90 with DIY condiments from a tray, and to wash that down a cup of tea will set you back $4.50. So that's white toast and a cup of tea for $10.40. Compare this with Pancakes at Carillon's bacon and eggs with pancakes and coffee (or Tea) for $9.90 (May to October). Of course, the Carillion does not have the ambience and view ... but you can't eat ambience and view.<br/><br/>Oh and did I mention they're busy? Tea arrived in 5 min, Toast we gave up after 15 minutes. <br/><br/>Unfortunately Toast is a fail. if you are going to be expensive be really, really good.
Asus
Fun place. Nice view, nice service, nice food. Ultimately it was a good experience, however sometimes it'll be so packed, you can't get brunch. The place itself looks tacky to me, but my girlfriend loves the atmosphere - it's like home. It was a bit pricey, but I would definitely come back.
Clarissa Phillips
Great service, bland food. We visited on a Sunday morning and the place was BUSY. That said, staff were so attentive and got us a table after a 10-minute wait, which was great.<br/><br/>I ordered toast and poached eggs with mushrooms. Another friend had the same, but eggs were scrambled. Another had a special, which included eggs, toast, mushrooms, tomato and chorizo.<br/><br/>The toast was hard and eggs were overcooked. Unfortunately there was no flavour in anything and I felt like I was eating overpriced cardboard. My friends agreed - their meals were also tasteless.<br/><br/>That said, the coffee great, as is the location and the staff/service. But I don't understand why people continuously line up to get a seat here when the food is terrible.
Michelle
I've been here a few times now which a group of 7/8 friends. We really like it. Had lovely bircher muesli wt rhubarb this morning!so good! The service is pretty good. Sometimes it can be hard to get everyone seated but we usually put two tables together etc and the staff are fine with this. My only negative would be that it seems quite over priced.
Kristy Leigh
Anywhere that had vegemite, avocado and poached egg on the menu is a winner in my book. Yum! Be ready to wait... It's worth it.
The Drapers
Food and service was a big 10/10. Loved it. Extensive menu. Great flavor, venue and taste. We will be back.
Sweet Gherkins
Ok, would not go back. Today was our first experience at Toast. Been meaning to go for a while, however if you don't get there early you will have to be patient and wait. On this occasion we were lucky at 8am on a Saturday and secured a table for 4. Our first greeting by staff was quite harsh and abrupt and was not the best first impression. We waited approximately 30 minutes for our meals to arrive, which 2 meals came out first , then remaining 2 meals 10 minutes later. luckily we had told our friends to start and they finished their breakfast whilst we were still waiting. I had the eggs Benedict and was extremely disappointed. It had no wow factor and honestly I've had better at dome, our friends had French toast and we're not that impressed with the freshness or taste, the coffees however ( which arrived 5 minutes after meals) were great and definitely a lovely venue for a morning cup of coffee and a muffin , we left quite disappointed as had heard so many good things about toast , however I feel there are way more cafés offering fantastic breakfasts other than toast. A positive of toast is they do have a very large menu to choose from and of course the outlook onto the estuary is a nice way to enjoy a morning, however food and service was a let down.
Food 2 Run
Good Coffee. Small but super busy, this is a great coffee shop in east Perth on the water. Called in after a run and staff are super friendly and make a great long mac.
Foodlover
Big fan of this place. Always packed, always good food and quick service.<br/><br/>Can't go wrong.
Coldie
Bit over rated and over priced!
Conswalo
Great food but inefficient.. We ordered two flat white coffees, the fruit toast and the complete veg breakfast. We sat inside. After 20 minutes the toast and veg breakfast arrived. I felt satisfied at this point, I was hungry and this food is out of this world delicious!<br/><br/>My partner was approached by bearded waiter just from eye contact. He turns to barista, offers bottle of water. 5 minutes later the coffee. He and the counter girl show focus, the rest are zombie staff including the casual barista.<br/>Overstaffed, inefficient.

Line up. Its a great little gem but the wait to get in is 2 long

On the fence. Although very busy when we arrived, we did get a table outside within five minutes. I thought the coffee and food was good, the menu has a great deal of variety. My husband thought the food took too long to come out, however it didn't bother me, I had a coffee and the view is lovely. What will stop me returning is how chaotic it was. We were cramped onto a tiny table on an uneven service, with screaming children about, I kinda like a quiet relaxing start to my Sunday.

Let's make a toast, to toast!! Coffee was good. Everything was very fresh! Our waiter was lovely although the Decor could do with some jazzing up. Would definitely come again! Beautiful location.

Great breakfast with a broad selection. My wife's best chai latte West of a holiday in Devonport over 10 years ago. Sure we'll be going back. Apparently the rhubarb crepes are divine as well.
Andrew
A rare 5 star breakfast! Beautifully crafted and interesting variations on the breakfast menu. A midweek treat!
Clive Carl
The service both on Sun & again today has been exceptional even thou they have been busy both days. Today it was explained to me my food would take 20min. It took 10min, which was great. Staff were both friendly & helpful. Yesterday's Eggs Benni were a little underwhelming however the corn fritters & today's polenta bread were delicious. The fresh juices, thou a bit pricey were refreshing & tasty.

USed to be better. Used to like this place , but the wait is too long, Ok thats not fair i would wait if the food is to die for. I have many other choices now so...... plus its really pricey... but i am sure many would still go for it as the view is good.
Foodie97
Look I like Toast. The staff are especially great. I don't even mind the prices of your juices - which being honest are pretty high. BUT when you charge me extra for watered down, tasteless scrambled egg, god knows why - eggs are so cheap right?? Sort it out toast or you will lose customers fast!
Woody751
My favourite Sunday breakfast. Love the location and the pancakes! Been several times and is one of our favourite breakfast spots :)
Monica
Tried really hard to make it work, but Toast and I are over... This little place is just 200m from my doorstep and I have been here many times since moving to East Perth last year. I love the quirky interior and friendly staff. The wait is always long and last few times food has been less than average. Had heard great things about the pancakes and ordered the banana one. To be honest, I think I could have done it better myself spending 7 minutes in the kitchen. The corn fritters also had a good rep but they were doughy and undercooked. I usually order the chicken advocado ciabatta (lunch menu) and that has yet to disappoint. Home made orange juice is very nice though. I really, really want to love this place, but I think I will try somewhere else next time. Sorry Toast, it's over.
Jaime
Absolute sweat box in summer, food is very average, plastic drinking cups for water eww! So not hygienic!
Llstyne99
Toast?. Oh no not burnt toast at a place that should be known for toast right...?
Little Food Adventures
All the toast you knead !. Caught up with a friend here at around 10.30am and it was very busy however the wait for the table wasn't too bad.<br/>Lovely atmosphere and staff. Really 'rose' to my expectations.<br/>Coffee was great and the food was good too! Corn fritters, yum !<br/>Decent service and quirky decor (which I am a sucker for).<br/>Loaf it and will definitely be back.
Pilatesbella
We have been a long time fan of Toast but very disappointed with todays visit. Place wasnt full when we got a table at 8.30. Waited 25mins for coffe before food came 10 mins after that. Very weak coffee and kids complained about tasteless hot choc. Food was not anywhere worth $15-$20 a plate.
PDubbz
Hard to say whether I like Toast or not. Used to love it but recent visit has thrown a spanner in the works. Service was great! My breakfast was 4 out of 5 but my partners was 1 out of 5 - most ironically the toast was terrible. My coffee was good but not great, my partner's vanilla milkshake was a write off. I guess based on the fact we wouldn't go back, I don't like it
AJ
Pleasant. Busy café, but worth it once you sit down.<br/>Service is always friendly.<br/>Food isn't amazing, but enjoyable - I really enjoyed their eggs hollandaise.<br/>Feel as if it's a little on the expensive side, but for location, view and atmosphere, worth paying and enjoying the experience.
Gwen
Weak coffee, good food. Pretty busy this morning, coffee is not good as I expected, quiet weak. Food is great....
Paulie Panda
Great little european style breakfast-brunch waterfront cafe. Tiny and dinky but filled with character. Not cheap but worth the money. Amazing menu, lots to choose from. Good coffee too. Only thing was the warm tap water provided. But that was easy to overlook as the food was fantastic! Will definitely be back frequently :)
Slipperyslide
Also a heads up on the 'ham' they serve. Looks like a slice of .5cm spam from a jar<br/><br/><br/>-----20 Sep, 2013-----<br/><br/>Average food. Had the corn fritters and hollandaise/avocado but wasn't anything special. Coffee was good but the cashier charged me for 2 rather that just the 1 I ordered. Juice is delicious.
Kent H Lee
Corn fritters. Great breakky and great views at a chilled out spot. Amazing corn fritters

Magic! Service = outstanding<br/>Food = delicious<br/>View = gorgeous<br/><br/>Toast have got it down pat. The menu has so much variety, making it impossible not to return. Everything I tried was wonderful, particularly their potato pancakes.
Foodfight
Love this place. My favourite place to go for breakfast at the minute, I'm working my way through the menu and am yet to find a fault.<br/><br/>Great service, great variety on the menu, great location. I don't mind waiting for a table when I know the food will be this good. Don't go if you are in a rush, the food is generally quick once you get seated, it just takes a while to get a table at peak times but you can check out the menu while you wait. <br/><br/>My favourite has got to be the potato mint and feta pancakes, and the french toast is excellent too.
FOODIE
Great. Was worth the 30min wait on a Sunday morning (obviously their busiest day). Service was excellent along with what I ordered which were corn fritters with avocado and hollandaise sauce - a 'cowboy' juice which consisted of watermelon, orange and apple plus a coffee. The location is beautiful, next time I'll try and book an outside table that over looks the river.. We left feeling satisfied, was a great start to our Sun morn (well needed).
OriginalFlava
Good food & great service. But no baby chair and outdoor area seems clumsy not as good as the Partisan next door
Tanya Brown
Great, friendly and vibrant service with yummy food in big servings. Very retro feel. <br/>Only negative was the uncomfortable heat inside but outside was packed so we didn't have an option. <br/>Would love to come here for breakfast next time because the tuna salad avocado bagel was delicious!
FoodHunter
Nice view.... Like the scene at toast, it has lifted up the taste of the food.
The Grizzly Bear Perth
Sunday Breakfast of Champions.. An international student friend on mine was leaving Perth and asked me to take her someone she hadn't been before. Somewhere with good food, in a good location and with a lovely atmosphere. Toast did not disappoint.<br/><br/>It was lucky that we came at 10am because after 10:30am the queue became extraordinary. Whilst there was already a queue for tables it was not too long before we received a seat. <br/><br/>We ordered the $19.90 Veggie Breakfast with a Short Mac $3.60 and a Full Breakfast $17.90 with a Long Mac $4.20.<br/><br/>Whilst the place was incredibly busy the atmosphere and scenery was a wonderfully way to pass the time. Our food came in a reasonable time and most importantly was worth the wait. The toast was crunchy, the eggs were runny and the flavours were all there.<br/><br/>I recommend Toast for breakfast/brunch, but I suggest you get in early.
Luxurious
Just average. Shabby chic cafe. Nice and quite location in front of East Perth waterfront if you go on a weekday arvo. The food was yummy and good portion size. Relaxing to see the view of the lake but not overall fantastic decor.
WineMeDineMe
Meh. Nothing special- inconsistent food and service. It's so hit or miss maybe management is simply banking on their name but for those prices I'll be heading to Gordon street garage.
Elf
Nice place to enjoy a drink, overlooking the river.
Urbanspooner
Overrated. I was looking forward to coming here for months after reading the menu and reviews. <br/>To my great disappointment, there was nothing spectacular about the food here. My partner and I came on a Saturday morning and my partner ordered Bacon, Fried Eggs, and Mushrooms whilst I had the Corn fritters, Avocado and Poached Eggs with Hollandaise Sauce.<br/>His breakfast looked dry and the eggs were overcooked. He remarked that it was quite average and we could have cooked a better meal at home. Not only that but it VERY expensive for what it was. More than $20 for a dry and average breakfast.<br/>My corn fritters, avocado and poached eggs was very bland. And also expensive for what it was.<br/><br/>Needless to say I feel that this place is overrated and expensive and I would not return here!! There are better priced and tastier breakfast spots in Perth.
Matt Kocaj
Food was great. Waitperson went out of his way to get our pram inside. Exceptionally friendly. Nice view too of the cove.
Dan O'Toole
Expensive and overrated. Started my day with Table80 and a "quick" bite to eat. That was a disaster. Table80 has said it all in her review, but in the proverbial nut shell, $17 for a sub par Eggs Benedict (the yardstick by which I, and I'm sure many others, gauge a breakfast joint) decided Toast's fate. This was of course after the 35min wait to be seated, and then 15mins for drinks to be served, and a final 15 more for food. The maĂźtre d (Dom?) however was a shining light, but unfortunately he's not worth returning for a poor meal and sloth-like service.
Table80
Horrible breakfast experience. Waited 45 minutes to be seated, 15 minutes for coffee and juice, and a further 15 minutes for food, totalling over an hour for a pricey, forgettable breakfast. <br/><br/>I chose the special of Serrano ham, tomato and pecorino cheese whilst my partner ordered the Eggs Benedict. His toast was drenched in butter and that's all you could taste whilst the eggs were poached beautifully, it was not nearly $17 worth. My special was better value however the crust to my bread was rock hard and the center of both slices was soggy from the raw tomato. Great concept but poorly executed. <br/><br/>I found the "waiting duck thing" to be quite gross, especially when my partner was handed a jelly-like purple duck that had dirt stuck onto it, lucky I had antibacterial wipes in my handbag (o_0). Also, whilst I liked the funky glass water jug, the water itself tasted a bit pungent. <br/><br/>Expected so much more considering the rating for this place. Don't mind paying the money and waiting for a great experience but this place failed on so many levels. Service from the young duck guy, however, was fantastic.

Worth stopping if you are in the area

Was here for lunch with my girl who stays nearby; the view is just absolutely delightful and relaxing,no wonder she always comes down here. Toast is an absolute delight to have breakfast with your loved ones while enjoying the view, though it was pretty packed around lunch time,it clearly has a following. The service was pretty good, most of the staff were casuals but friendly enough, the coffee was suprisingly of good quality, which is rare nowadays when anyone is allowed to handle the coffee machine. The food itself was simply 5/5,my girl is a fan of the crepes:) no complaints at all,in all we would definitely return.
Rhiannon
Long wait for take away coffee. Stopped by last weekend to grab a take away coffee and was very disappointed after waiting about fifteen/twenty minutes for two coffees which were luke warm and under half filled. They were extremely busy and I'm sure the staff were doing the best they could but a warning on the wait should have at least been given. Meanwhile the brekkies coming out did look good - I just will make sure I only bother if I'm there early enough for no crowd
Cupcake.Curler
Tragic Toast. Used to frequent toast quite a bit, but on my most recent visit in a while, wasn't too impressed. Food was bland, had little flavour, and I just find the water/cups there quite dirty. Their hollandaise sauce has close to no flavour.
Michelle
Out with kids. Tried out this small place for brekkie with 2 little kids, quick service with food and coffee considering the amount of people that came in through the door as we sat down. Staff friendly, toys for the kids to play with and other diners not bothered that kids there. Smoked salmon meal and other vegie breakfasts enjoyable. coffee pretty good also. Kids loved the thick banana smoothie. overall nice relaxing spot by the water.
MissS
Our all time favourite!. We go there almost every Saturday morning. excellent food and coffee. it's busy most of the time, but staff are very friendly and very efficient. well manged place. the view is great. Perfect place to go!
Lozzydel
Regulars. My boyfriend and I are regulars here on the weekends. I am eating my way through the menu! Even though the wait tends to be 20mins for a seat and service is a little slow (another 20 to receive meals) we keep coming back for the great view and tasty menu. Banana yoghurt smoothie is amazing!
Scotland
Fresh and tasty fit for any breakfast! A must try if you visit toast.
Mel Joy
Favourite, favourite, favourite!. This is my favourite place in Perth for breakfast or brunch! Eggs are always cooked perfectly, the crepes are deliciously light and tasty, coffee is great, and the milkshakes are the BEST around. Staff are always friendly (especially the English guy!) and so accommodating, and the view is fantastic. Love, love, love Toast. I'll always be back!
Tatjana Wards
Not one fault. Was very bu.... Not one fault. <br/>Was very busy, we were told up to a 20 minute wait.. Waited 5 minutes, amazing service, well organized. <br/>Coffee and food came really quickly considering how busy it was! Very yummy as well.. My boyfriend got the full breakfast and said it was awesome cause it wasn't all greasy like most places! <br/>Defiantly go :)

I've been to toast on a number of occasions and have thoroughly enjoyed it every single time. Their corn fritters are to die for and the manager (I think?) has always been super friendly and accommodating. My partner (a very fussy Englishman who just LOVES his big breakfasts) admitted that it was the best big breakfast he has had in Australia. The only fault he says, is that they should offer a side if baked beans. We love you toast!
John
We went to Toast on a Saturday morning (around 11:30am) and were told there was a 15 minute wait on a table. After getting our table, we found the menu lacked variety and the food was over-priced for what it was! Took 20 minutes to make an orange juice and a further 10 minutes until the food arrived. Not worth the hype. Beautiful location and helpful staff though.
Danna
Good spot, ridiculous management. So me and my boyfriend, who works in the area and 1h15 before he started work rocked up at Toast and got told there was a 15-20 minute wait for a table. For this area, we're both ok with that as long as we're told straight up so we can decide if there's time or not. Waited for a table for 30 minutes, 11.20 by now, he lines up to order at the counter, another 5 mins, 11.25 by now, and when he gets first in line - he's told there is a 30 minute wait on food as well, giving him a full 2 minutes to eat (if it even shows up within 30, by now they've made little indications that they will keep that promise) <br/><br/>Good spot, need to work on their management skills. Couldn't tell you about what the food was like - we didn't have time to wait another 30 mins after already waiting 35 mins to get a table and order. Get your act together Toast, if you'd told us there was a 30 minute wait on food, we would've just ordered while waiting for our table!
Foodie1357
Went today for the first time, great service salmon on mint and ricotta pattie was amazing!!!
Real Speak
A little too sweet on the chai latte but breakfast tasted really yum. Would definitely go back for the open rye salmon salsa and the French toast. Even slid in some banana and rhubarb crepes. Really good. Waited 20 min for a table from 935am Sunday morning. Saw at 1030am a longer line had formed.
Foodie77
Toast is our regular haunt after a morning walk and it always delivers an enjoyable brekky & good coffee. Lovely setting with views of the river and quirky mismatched decor. Only criticism is the wait for takeaways can take up to 15 mins.
SpecificDreamRabbit
Super Sweet. This place is really sweet, the staff are friendly and the juice is really yummy! The view is great from the the open and airy cafe is beautiful. The river really adds to the ambiance! The only problem is they had no vegan options!
The Non Existent Diet
Beautiful Location and Great Food. I have been to Toast countless times for both breakfast and lunch. It never fails to please me food and service wise. It has the best view of East Perth via Claisebrook Cove, breakfast by the waterfront (and the opportunity to go for a peaceful morning stroll) is the best way to start the day! <br/><br/>Toast has dependable food, a great location with a seabreeze and a quirkly interior made up of bits and bobs. I especially like sitting in the shades outside, on the little deck chairs admiring the view. <br/><br/>I love their freshly squeezed juices (a nice combination of different fruits available), with some recommendations including the homemade lemonade ($5.50), their creamy vanilla milkshakes ($6.00 which come served in a huge aluminum tumblers) and the cowboy ($6.50), a refreshing combination of orange, watermelon and apple.<br/><br/>For something savoury try the corn fritters with bacon and maple syrup ($15.90). The fritters are a nice balance of batter and sweet corn. Anything with bacon and maple syrup is a winner too, alternating between sticky sweet and greasy savory. The full breakfast ($19.90) is a decent feed too for those who love their eggs, tomato, chipolatas and mushrooms. For lunch, the roast beef, caramelized onion, roasted capsicum and chilli jam on Turkish bread ($12.90) is very good. The roast beef is moist and combination of chilli and caramalised onion is great.<br/><br/>Toast flexibility is shown through its ability to deviate from the menu upon request – one time I asked for a substitution of chipolatas with bacon for the full breakfast with the addition of maple syrup. Toast was happy to comply, indicating that it has top notch customer service and will cater to pretty much anyone’s needs!<br/><br/>Dessert wise, you can’t go past those sweet crepes – chocolate and toasted hazelnut crepes ($12.90) for something rich or (my fav) the caramelized banana crepes ($14.90). That sugar crystalizes to perfection. There is also always a nice range of cakes and biscuits at the front of house. A cafĂ© that is relaxing, peaceful and an absolute joy to have in Perth. <br/><br/>Overall Rating: Eight and a half out of Ten Caramalised Banana Crepes.

My Favoutite Brekkie Spot. A gorgeous little hidden gem. We had a wonderful breakfast, excellent coffee and watched dolphins in the canal...perfect
Suzie Tuialii
Beautiful sweet crepes & great food. Nice service too! Definitely go back.
The Sneaky Pigeon
Grossly overrated. Am I missing something? I really do not understand how this place gets such a high score on here. I agree completely with Kirsty. The food is average, and the vegetarian options worse. Bland and soggy (stuffed mushroom, fritters). Staff don't deal with busy days well. I don't get a welcoming vibe. The coffee is just ok.
Kirsty
Utterly overrated! The 'duck' business when waiting is ridiculous, this poor boy running around swapping ducks instead of a simple list, waste of a staff member. Food was very over priced and just bad. I had the vegetarian breakfast and the stuffed mushroom was awful, the eggs barely cooked (white was runny) and the fritter was average. I love all things vintage and retro but you can have this look and be clean! We had dirty plastic cups with warm water and the floor was filthy. Great location and potential, needs a good clean and a new chef!
Matthew Maxted
This is my first ever food and restaurant review so don't judge me yet. On arrival it was busy so we put our name down, but instead of a simple surname system, they use little ducks, that represented your place in line and the seater had to keep rotating the order...very silly I thought. The decor was retro but too much of it that it felt cluttered and dirty. Some kinda foosty floating thing in my plastic drinking cup of water. The food was simple, nothing unique like what you'd expect paying for breakfast, any food lover could cook this at home, cheap and quicker.
Taste Traveller
If you don't mind a wait it's worth your while. Went to Toast with a friend a week ago for a late breakfast and had the corn fritters with avocado, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. The eggs were cooked to perfection. Coffee was good and so was the freshly squeezed juice. Even though there were plenty working it seemed understaffed as service at times was lacking. They were friendly when they got to you but it was only brief. Certainly didn't get the feeling you were valued but the food was so nice the staff run off their feet could be overlooked. Overall loved that there was such a diverse range of food on the menu for breakfast.
Perth Eater
Great breakfast, friendly service and a nice view.

Pleasant. I would be the best word to describe this cafe. The food was good but it's something most could easily do at home themselves. The coffee is O.k. Location is great though. The cakes did look good with lots of gluten free options. Banana bread also looked good. Been here a few times in the past & have learnt that if you are a bread lover like me don't order the toast here. Options are boring. No Lawleys ciabatta or New Norcia sourdough here. Worth the visit but I wouldn't put it in Perth some top ten good breakfast spots.
Rosie Nguyen
Full and Happy. I was here with a friend about 2 weeks ago and it was a beautiful day so we sat outside. It was a weekday but plenty of people were there enjoying the food and sunshine.<br/><br/>The menu had so many choices, in the end I picked the corn fritters with avocado and poached eggs. This is the best breakfast I have had in a long time, it was so tasty. Absolutely loved it! :) I also ordered the Blimey Juice which was nice, nothing WOW about it but it was nice for a sunny day. <br/><br/>The service was friendly too, I will definitely be back soon!
Adrian Jameson
Great location, so intentionally low rent that it's cool. Busy place run by nice people. But the food is just OK and the juices and food overpriced for what arrives. Bit underwhelmed. Still worth trying.
Radek Sebesta
Don't see what the fuss is about. Came here for a very late brekkie or more so a brunch. Got in around 11am and the place was teeming with some very colorful people from the Perth Color (American spelling) Run. So probably a bit busier than usual. I have been here before and had both sweet and savoury crepes which were okay ... but I have had better.<br/><br/>We decided on a cappuccino, some vanilla black tea and then a mushroom and herb omlette with toast and Potato & feta pancakes with poached eggs & smoked salmon.<br/><br/>Where do I begin. The wait to sit down lasted a while. It was busier than usual so I let this slide. I understand being a popular breakfast spot in Perth there will always be a wait and in this case with the extra numbers from the run it was to be expected.<br/><br/>We were then given a table IN THE SUN which we hesitantly took as there didn't seem to be any other options at the time. Luckily a table freed up inside and we were moved to that reasonably quickly.<br/><br/>The coffee and tea took what seemed like an eternity to arrive. Were they growing the beans out the back first? Same went for the tea. There was water and glasses on the table to start to be fair. The service was also quiet friendly and professional.<br/><br/>The meals came out and presentation wise neither of us was blown away. The mushroom and egg omlette tasted exactly like one you could make at home yourself and the "toast" on the side was literally what looked like the cheapest white toast you can buy from your local supermarket thrown into a toaster.<br/><br/>As for my dish the potato "pancake" looked more like a fritter with smoked salmon and poached eggs the first egg I cut into was well overdone and at this point had me wondering why I had paid for this breakfast. The second egg was cooked perfectly and was runny when cut open. When this flavour mixed with the fritter which was naturally drier the total combination did taste okay. Still something I could have made at home.<br/><br/>Considering we ate around an hour after we arrived and the meal still cost nearly $50 I left pretty unimpressed. I did leave with my hunger satisfied but I am sorry to say that the same can't be said for my taste buds.<br/><br/>VERY UNIMPRESSED. I fail to see what the fuss is about this place. Honestly I won't be back. As I read in another review a while back if your happy to pay over $20 for basic bacon and eggs that you could make at home yourself WITH A LONG WAIT then go ahead. Otherwise try somewhere else.
LittleMiss
Happy face. Went again and took new friends, and not at all disappointed. Great banana bread and delicious savoury muffin!! Service was great too. Top notch brekky place.

Yummy!. Being new to Perth, we went in search of a nice brunch spot. And that's what we found at Toast. Set in the trendy cafe precinct on Royal Street, it was humming with people for a weekday. The food was brillliant! I paired my corn fritters with poached egg and avocado with the chilli jam - simply heaven! My husband loved the daily special of sardines and eggs. The only downside was the coffee - lacking in flavour, and weak (despite an extra shot). But I suspect we'll be back:)
Tristan
Had heard so much positive comments about Toast and their infamous breakfasts. We ordered Eggs Benedict. It wasn't awful, but certainly not anything to brag about. Average presentation, small servings and overrated...

Fantastic fresh food, friendly staff, extensive menu that caters for all, stunning setting!. I've been to Toast 3 or more times now, and I have to say I am extremely impressed!<br/>The food and drinks menus are huge and cater for nearly everyone, the selection is amazing!<br/>The food is always fresh and really tasty, the fact that all of the food there is free range and organic makes Toast even more appealing to me.<br/>I have been there when it has been really really busy (Sunday mornings around 10) and when it has been very quiet (Friday morning around 11am). I found the staff to be consistently pleasant and very friendly, and the whole operation of the restaurant is run like clockwork which works really well.<br/><br/>Toast is set in the East Perth inlet, so the setting is just perfect, peaceful, picturesque and traffic free.<br/>The coffee would have to be some of the best coffee I have ever tasted which is a huge plus for me.<br/>In addition to the extensive menu, there are also lots of really delicious daily specials on the board when you go inside, completely spoilt for choice I tell you!<br/><br/>I only have one teeny gripe - the water that is served is tap water, if it was filtered, I'd be on cloud nine!<br/><br/>Huge accolades to this successful business, I will be a regular here for a long long time to come, breakfast in heaven!
Jo Smith
Went Sunday morning, very busy which wasn't an issue as you expect that Sundays. Had the full breakfast n wasn't impressed, very average nothing great about it. Have been to lots better places in Perth like Sayers & Mrs S. I must admit looking around at tables other breakfasts looked pretty nice. Was it just the full breakfast that was average? I won't be rushing to return no matter how nice the setting is
Amzstar
Get Here early to avoid the queues and the inevitable long wait on the weekend. The food is excellent but the coffee is only average which is the only thing you can fault the place on. Location is fabulous and nothing more relaxing than sorting looking out on pretty Claisebrook Cive. Dog friendly.
Flippy
Great Views. Very busy on a Saturday morning but we arrived at 9am and managed to get a table for 6 straight away. The food came out relatively quickly considering we had been warned there may be a half hour wait! The corn cakes with avocado, poached eggs and hollandaise were delicious. We’ll be back!
Fendi
Cute little place! Excellent food and drinks! But going there on a summers morning for bfast was not so good! It was a little to cluttered! They needed a few fans or something!
Spunkychicken
Great view, expensive prices, nice food. Had breakfast on New Years Day (one of the few places open), so paid "holiday menu" prices. Over $50 for breakfast for 2 is boom town prices, but the corn cakes with bacon and maple syrup were pretty good, except that the corn cakes were a little underdone, so had that sloppy texture inside. Staff were friendly, but I was asked several times if I had finished my meal towards the end, and they were keen to clear away the plate, so I felt a little rushed and had to hold onto my cutlery, just to show that I had not finished yet!
Janelle Bett
Lovely diverse menu. Thoroughly enjoyed brunch here - a lazy 1030 start meant a few tables were still free. I had the potato mint and feta pancakes with salmon which were lovely - and quite a large serve. Will be back!
Roze Kirsz
Wonderful in every way!. I've been to Toast a few times now, never disappointed.<br/><br/>Its location is just perfect especially if you go for a short walk afterwards, as its right along the skirts of a river. Even when they are packed and crazy busy, they still make their best effort to fit you in.<br/><br/>The coffee is always great, juices are fresh and unique.. the food is delicious and very well presented. A couple near us had a lovely fruit salad with honey and yoghurt which looked so appealing I will have to try next time!<br/><br/>Highly recommend this place.
Lisa
Brilliant location. Nothing beats the fabulous location on a sunny day. Casual, laid back vibe. I love the all day breakfast, not enough places in Perth offer this!
Artelius Nini
Too overpriced. Chef should be lenient with the ingredients. we ordered the eggs norwegian and coffee. Eggs norwegian were given too little, is almost like giving meal to the kids. Mocha was not that great taste and in those tiny glasses for $4.90. Ripped off. The price we paid for is not worth it. I can easily made my own at home. Basically your paying for the east perth view. Staff are friendly. I will not be going back.
Pizzalover
Overpriced, $50 for breakfast RFID 2 is excessive even for Perth. Bircher Muesli was tiny, with minimal milk. Pot of tea for two was average and again overpriced. Location is the only saving grace. Will not be going back
Jill Yeoh
Love it here, clean environment, waterfront, good service, great food, beautiful coffee, how can you not love it? This is my new to go weekday spot. x

Absolutely love this place!! Have never had a problem with food or service!! My number one place for breakfast always!!!
Mimmi
LOVE IT!!!! This is by far my favourite barely spot in Perth.. I almost don't even want to say that so I can have it all to myself!!! It's getting pretty busy nowadays but the all day brekky is well worth the wait. The corn fritters and bacon with a poached egg are my perfect brekky!
Liv
Overly priced. There was nothing wrong taste wise with the food, but I think $50 for a breakie for two is a bit excessive! The coffee's are in a tiny cups and the English Muffin that the poached eggs came on were soooo thin there was nothing to them. I won't be coming back or recommending as it's just too over priced for what you get.

Afternoon Lunch. After walking all the way from UWA to South Perth, we made it to Toast to still be served breaky/lunch/dinner/desert all in one! I have heard about Toast off a few people and well my impression was as good as theirs. Great view, friendly staff, and satisfying food.
Tania
A favourite place for all day breakfast. Eggs with salmon on rye bread is delicious. Vibe really good and setting is lovely. Have had poached eggs with hard yolks once but generally nice and runny.
My Tastebuds Say
There was crap in the cup I used for water. They served coffee in a chipped cup. Flat White had a 1-2cm thick of Froth. I would have ordered latte if I wanted that. The Egg Norwegian, quite average. The poach egg wasn't runny. Not fantastic. Edible.
Yummylicious
Great views and was impressed with presentation of food and coffee was sensational.<br/><br/>Will return :-)
Coffee101
The view. Nothing better than a good view with some good food and coffee.<br/>Food wise, I can't complain. I love the menu at Toast.<br/>Coffee wise, it is quite debatable. I've had good coffee and average coffee here. I wouldn't say its amazing coffee, but it is a lot better than most places.<br/>The staff are all very friendly and bubbly, makes me look forward to every visit.
Amy
Great food - squish too many tables into their small venue. Amazing tables outside overlooking the water..
MzPiggy
Best eggs Benny I've ever had! Can't wait to go back and try the crepes...
Loan Pham
First time there, great service, delicious food, perfect coffee and nice view! Definitely a favourite!
Blah
Eclectic little cafe, always buzzing with locals and regulars who are devoted followers of great service, delicious food and freshly squired juices to die for. It is what it is - you can't reserve and its very popular. But we keep coming back
Jojostar
Cute little cafe with an amazing view !
Emma
Beautiful food. Best breakfast in Perth by far.. food consistently amazing once you hve ordered never that long to wait. Only problem is waiting to get a table on the weekend but i guess its busy for a reason. Love this place and the staff ALOT
Fooodmachine
Really enjoyed it. Sat outdoors and it was a fantastic quiet spot next to the river. tried the banana bread with mascarpone and honey, and also the potato feta and mint pancake with salmon and poached eggs - both dishes were really good, would definitely come back again

ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT !!. Met up with the girls here for a casual relaxed lunch, hve never been here before, everything about this place is just PERFECT, you people who are complaining about really petty stuff, get over yourselves!<br/>never have I had such wonderful service , an excellent meal (we all agreed!) and the setting was wonderful in the warm sun today :) The food was casual as was the atmosphere, really relaxed and what an amazing place!<br/>You cannot fault TOAST one single bit. All of us girls love it and thank you TOAST for not being a pretentious prat hang out ! Food was YUMMMY! Will dfefinetely be back!
Taste_orgasms
Really like it!. I really like Toast! I’ve been here a couple of times and have always got one of their amazing, fresh and refreshing juices
and corn fritters with maple syrup and bacon! I love bacon
but the generous servings given were too much for me to finish! Awesome poached eggs! Bit annoying having to hang around for a table though
but I reckon it’s worth it
. Plus its not a bad place to hang around outside by the waterfront
 so pretty!
Wine And Dine Me
My local!. Toast has become a 'must' every weekend ! Coffee, service, food everything is great! The corn fritters, smoked chorizo special and beach bear juices are our favs! Makes me sad for the place next door when u see people waiting for a table at toast and they r empty , but having tried them once I would prefer the hr wait then breakfast there!!! Love this place
The Cookie
Dog friendly! We are locals, so we always do the same usual route when walking my puppy, Sunday afternoon went in to get a takeaway milkshake and the staff were so friendly as per usual. And as we were leaving the girls stopped us not letting us leave until Cookie had a fresh bowl of water! We need more places like this in Perth! They have never set a foot wrong in my opinion. Besides maybe increasing my waistline...
Nic Love Food
Amazing ... Me and my friend went in today. we instantly love the place. <br/>it was by the river side, with the blue and white design, it just couldn't be more simple.<br/>the food was fantastic, recommend to try the potato pancake with smoke salmon and sour cream. <br/>it was something different and yumm.. <br/>defiantly will go back again
Jack
Okay. Been here twice now, both times the food was very average. Menu seems to stay the same, the food is oily and there's little thats fresh. Not worth the wait.
Koala Koala
It was Ok. Great location and surrounding scenery, but the food is really ordinary and nothing special.<br/>Table was sticky and inside was squashy and humid.
Demi
Loved it!. Luckily got a table straight away but it then go very busy, but well worth it if your having to wait.<br/>Great location and great choices on the menu.<br/>Will defiantly go back soon!
Sharon Mo
Great cafe!!. Love this cafe! Love the vibe! One of my favorite places for a weekend brekky... Staff is friendly and coffee is always good!!
Sara
Heard a lot of hype.worst food ever I love breakfast this was bad. Waited on a Sunday at 9amfor almost an hour.waited for almost an hour.thought this is goin to be good. Obviously small kitchen and under supply of food led to ordinary small cold flavor lacking food.i should of ate at home.never again
Susan
Loved it. Great place for something different with good friends! Loved the crapes!<br/>Will certainly return!
Hardtofindagoodcoffee
Average. Save for the lovely positioning on the waterfront and a very friendly and entertaining willy wagtail, breakfast was not special. We ordered the big breaky and the vege breaky and two mugs of coffee. We were served our meals before the coffee and it wasn't busy! Meals ok, but nothing interesting. Coffee ok - at least was hot. Otherwise skip it. I won't be back.

Fantastic Breakfast. While this place does get busy and you have to wait for a table on weekends it is most definitely worth the wait, had french toast with blueberries and ricotta and a side serve of bacon, the most beautiful breakfast had in a long time, enjoyed every bite! Cant wait to go back!
Rob
A demeaning process of getting a table and rules around not being allowed to order until seated meant we waited for more than and hour before getting breakfast. When it arrived the plates and drinks were larger than the table. Food was good but staff and experience lousy
Bec White
I have heard amazing things about this place, but I was disappointed. The food was very average to the point where anyone at home couldn't make better. The only upside was the setting on claisebrook cove and te friendly staff.
Eatlikeme
Get in early... Make sure u get up earlye so you dont have to queue up for your coffee and breakkie! this place is worth it, an all time fave..
Cafe Snob
Be prepared to wait (for tables, drinks & food) as this place gets very busy. Definitely worth the wait though & will definitely come back.
Annaliese Hutchison
Reasonable coffee. Great specials menu. Quick meals considering how busy they were. Staff attentive, cleared plates quickly so we had more room. Always a good breakfast.

Not just toast. I had been wanting to try Toast for months and months and finally got the chance to head out on a Friday morning. All the other times it was packed out.<br/>Had a lovely dish and hubby was happy as well. Was a little tight with a pram and wasn't offered a high chair.<br/>The food was really great, so many cafes just stick to the basics but not Toast! I will be back!
Food Fan
Great tasting food in the gorgeous Claisebrook Cove. I finally got to try Toast after so long. My boyfriend and I went to Toast around brunch time on a Monday morning. The place was quite busy even for a Monday morning, and i was told that it was crazy busy earlier that morning, too. <br/><br/>I had the potato, mint and feta pancakes which tasted heavenly, but just wasn't enough, so I left still hungry. I love their little water jugs and their little milk bottles with the tea - so adorable! My partner had the big breakfast, which unfortunately, had a small piece of hair in his scrambled eggs. Such a shame, as he enjoyed the meal other than that. He also had the almost 1L chocolate milkshake, which wasn't chocolate-y enough!<br/><br/>I'd definitely come back and try the rest of the menu. The service was excellent. The view is so nice and relaxing, being in Claisebrook Cove.
Blonde8Best1
Just went there for breakfast, the place was so crowded I will avoid it next time! We had a 30 minute wait to get a table, the staff are running around rearranging tables, while more and more people come in form a huge chaotic line... when we finally got a table to place an order we needed to queue again. And the food arrived prob in 20 min after that. So if you have a spare hour on your Sunday then go try your luck! Now the food is a talk of the town... I have ordered corn frittas with poached eggs, and the eggs were overlooked!!!!!! They were not even running! In any other situation I would've sent the dish back, but considering all the wait time that I've already done to wait 20 more min was not a good idea I thought. So all in all if not for the beautiful sunny weather and a great company I had - would have been a pretty disappointing experience. Should maybe try again on weekdays, but never again on a weekend
Joel Kandiah
Different but amazing. I've been meaning to try Toast for ages and today I finally got a chance! I straight away ordered the Corn Fritters with Bacon and Maple Syrup. It was amazing, I will be coming back for more of these bad boys!
Lolly Lettuce
Gorgeous food. Wednesday July 4 3pm - 5pm<br/><br/>Love the caesar salad with fresh grilled tasty chicken pieces and and warm poached egg..<br/>Love the crepes<br/>Love the fresh juices <br/>Love the quick arrival of food and drink<br/>Love the serene view of water and cyclists<br/>Love the outdoor seating and comfy bench seats inside<br/>Love the all day menu!<br/>Love the no minimum eftpos/credit card<br/><br/>can't find a flaw every time i go.. well.. maybe the menu's falling apart...
Trust Me
Must try breakfast place. This place gets busy for breakfast but is worth the wait to get a table. <br/><br/>The variety of breakfast dishes is refreshing to see on a menu. <br/><br/>Great location for a summers breakfast in East Perth.
Jill Blaney
Favourite breakfast place in Perth! Have tried a number of dishes now, but I keep coming back to the potato and fetta pancakes! They are so, unbelievably good! My mouth is watering as i type this.. Think I'll be back again this weekend!
Ben Ana
Had scrambled eggs & toast and a glass of orange juice. The eggs were oily and inspite of the name of the cafe, the toast was pathetic, having used the cheapest piece of white bread from the supermarket. For $18 expect bakery bread and better quality cooked eggs. Lift your game.
Best Steak Sandwich-Perth
Nice coffee but average breakfast. Poached eggs came out on woolworths white toast. When paying $20 for breakfast-at least get some nice sourdough. Would have been better if cooked at home.
Rob B
Toast Plain and Spectacular. After being a long time fan of Toast, and it's Banana Toast with marscapone, honey and almond slivers by the river in Claisebrook, I thought I would try a classic fruit toast.<br/><br/>It was amazing! Butter, and home made preserves, of peach, quince, and blueberries, with a wonderful long mac, it really was a great start to a chilly Sunday morning.<br/><br/>Toast, still delivering quality food and service, in a beautiful location. <br/><br/>Keep up the great work.
PerthfectBreakfast
Spoilt for choice. Overrated....<br/>heaps of choice so theres something for everyone but who cares if none of them are that great?
Deliciousness
Very disappointing. I'm not sure if something was off yesterday, but I really couldn't see what all the fuss was about!<br/><br/>$40 for 2 coffees and 2 Bacon and Eggs seems a bit steep, especially when it was just that, Bacon and Eggs. Charging extra for Scrambled eggs made me think they'd be something special, herbs, spices, anything! It was just beaten egg with cold toast and fatty bacon.
Yellow Daisy
Use to love it. Still the same quality but with expensive prices
Eatingout
Not bad not great. Breakfast 9/6/12. Setting very nice, coffee very good food so so,,,,,,,would have liked a second coffee but too busy.......obviously doing something right, will have to give it another go to decide how I feel about it
Grimm
Constantly Good but Busy. I have gone to Toast over a dozen times and the food has always been good. They also accommodate custom orders. The restaurant is small so on busy days expect to wait for the food (not recommended for large groups). They are also dog friendly. :)
Annie
Corn frittatas and bacon w/ maple syrup. Need I say more?! ;-) I also appreciate their music selection (Sufjan Stevens- so much yes!)
Smurfette
Disappointing, big breakfast very average, crepes good but left feeling very hungry- good place for coffee
Perthgal
Love!. Best place for breakfast, and offered all day too! the place is really cute, and a little bit different. has a beautiful spot on the waterfront.<br/><br/>only possible negative thing is that they dont take bookings :(
Cbelvil
Delish!. Bit of a breakfast buff, for a while it was touch and go with my breakfast... however, it continues to be an absolute favourite. Delicious and I highly recommend it!
PerthieGeorgie
Love love loved it! Wonderful breakfast all day, charming place with a wonderful atmosphere - I will be a regular!

Favourite way to spend a Sunday morning!. My friends and I have taken to Toast most Sundays midway through our Burswood bridges walk. Never had a disappointing meal, breakfast is to die for! Particularly the spiced apple and ricotta fruit toast. Well and truly worth the wait for a table!! And all part of the anticipation, fun and great atmosphere you will find here! Friendly staff make it even better!

Good coffee, excellent breakfast, nice view.

Indie. Went to this cafe after many of my friends went and raved about it! Not what I expected, the place is cosy and small, friendly staff and beautiful view. The cafe is a tiny spot seating about 25 people inside and outside seating seats about 10 people. The menu is simple and averagely priced considering the location and the typical 'cafe priced' foods. I had the chicken, ricotta and capsicum savoury crepe. A bit bland for my liking, has to add salt. They could've added more cheese. My friend had the ham, cheese and mushroom crepe. Her's was great! Ice mocha was delish. The view of the lake and the atmosphere in general was relaxing and homey. Definitely a great place for brunch with the girls.
Believeinyourself
Great place, great view, great food. A definitely go to place.
Foodiefoodlover
Quaint but needs a little more foundadtion??. Atmosphere is chaotic but great. Love the recycled decor...one wonders where DID they get so many matching red 60's vinyl chairs. Long Black was ok, milk work on Latte was a little average. White egg omelette was nice and nutritious but lacked any depth of flavour. Next time I will gun for the lounge-deck chairs with the knitted cushions overlooking the water....

Yummy scrambled eggs. And coffee. Lovely view and the best service. Lovely lady helped me out with my little baby. First time mum still learning, and the lovely helped me out. Will definitely be back.
Iggy
Sooooo good..... Best brekkie ever!! I didnt want it to end... Can't wait to go back!!!
Lauren
Wow!! Friendliest breakfast staff in Perth. Was surprised to find Toast so busy on Monday morning. I don't mind ordering at the counter as the line moves quick and staff are the nicest in Perth. I had the corn fritters with perfectly poached eggs, avocado and hollandaise, yum yum! Long macchiato was delish. Looking forward to my next visit and hoping the chorizo @ eggs is on the specials menu .
Carolyn
Perfectly Poached. I'd been told to try Toast Café in East Perth a couple of times so I took myself off the other morning to sample their poached eggs.<br/><br/>It's a charming little café looking out over Claisebrook Cove. I ordered my eggs up at the counter and took a seat, watching people come in and out for coffee on their way to work.<br/><br/>Where do I start? The dumpling like egg packages arrived (again I'll say - how hard is it put a little effort into presentation?) with toast and two packets of butter. They were overcooked with some of the yolk already hard. The flavour was OK but I overall I was disappointed. I had high hopes for this place. The stand out of the morning was the toast. It was dense, perfectly browned and the taste - oh the taste. Perfect.<br/><br/>Would I go back for poached eggs again? Not too sure, but I will definitely be going back for that toast. The coffee was also outstanding.
John Morley
Awesome!!!!. Always awesome, bring back the Mango French toast, even the French tourist table were raving about it
August Setiawan
Good food good coffee. Went to Toast on Sunday morning. I ordered short macchiato and vegetarian full breakfast. Both are above average compare to most brekky place in Perth. The corn fritter was good but lacks flavour, it's more like a pancake with corn mixed into the batter. Eggs were poached to perfection and the bread are finely toasted.<br/><br/>Food - 7/10<br/>Coffee - 7/10<br/>Service - 7/10<br/>Ambience - 7/10

Went for breakfast and the food is awsome! Really lovely atmosphere, had the potato mint fetta pancakes with bacon and poached eggs and a grapefruit presse. My daughter had the banana crepe and juice, which was also delicious, can't wait to go back again to try their coffee. Highly recommend.

Stuffy. I went to toast for a late breakfast on a saturday (about 2pm) there weren't that many people there but service seemed slow. It was also a roasting hot day and sitting under the aircon provided little release for my little group of friends. The food was great if over priced. The tables and chairs inside were a bit cramped together but better than sitting in the sun. The staff seemed indifferent in thier service. Wish I could say something more positive as this place has great potential.
Jane
Can't see it. Made the trip to Toast today having selected a lunch spot based on reviews here. A very low key and slightly down beat spot in a perfect location. My friend enjoyed her chicken Cajun salad but the special warm lamb salad was not to my liking. The flavours were nice but there was such a small amount of lamb I went searching through the spinach to find the pieces. The beetroot tasted tinned, not fresh, to me. I ordered an iced tea and was charged $5.90 for a glass of cold water with a faint whiff of the ordered lemongrass and ginger. Try this tea at Kirwan Street Floreat and you will discover how fabulous an iced tea can be. Won't be back.
Vonny
Lovely staff. The food was good the coffee was warm but tasty. What impressed me most was the lovely thoughtful service. Whoever runs toast must treat their staff well as everyone was happy to be there. Helpful, friendly, smiley and attentive. Those guys are worth their weight in gold to that business. Wish all places were like this.
Dolce
Great lil' breakfast "place" by the water. All the staff where super chilled and freindly. Just make sure you get there early as seats fill fast. Only downer is the tables are small so it's harder if your coming as a big group. None the less I'll be coming back again!
Boston Baker
The best breakfast in town.... Although I live in Sydney, we went to Perth with friends. Walking down from their apartment in East Perth, we discovered this fantastic eatery. Busy, yes - but worth it. Our friend KB really enjoyed the salmon, dill and provoletta omtelette - and the thick, delicious pancakes I ordered with mango and cherries were amazing. The staff here know it's busy, and they really make an effort - setting out benches on New Year's morning for people in the queue, offering to serve coffees and lattes while you wait. We loved it! Will definitely go back next trip.
Gem
Great food and location. Toast is a cool little place to have some breakfast or brunch on a sunny day by the cove. Not your average menu, I love the bircher muesli and get it everytime. Coffees are pretty good, not the greatest, but the location makes up for it.
Commissariat Aesthete
How has this place got so many good reviews??. 25 min wait to order<br/>inedible old fruit salad<br/>dirty water glasses<br/>BAD coffee =<br/><br/>OVERRATED!!
Garcon ...
Tried....but failed to deliver. It seems this is a very happening place around 11am on Saturdays, so much so that the kitchen staff failed to notice the hair draped across the lemon wedge that came with my potato, mint and feta pancakes with smoked salmon, poached eggs, sour cream and chives before it left the kitchen. A tasty dish except that the sour cream and chives sauce was not evenly spread across the dish making the last few bites a relatively dry and dull affair. Other dishes such as the corn fritters with bacon and maple syrup were a hit. But at $72 for 3 breakfast dishes, 1 coffee, 1 juice and 1 smoothie it left a little bit still to be desired to attain a sense of good value. Not hurrying back.
Rumpyfoodie
Customise your breakfast? YES PLEASE!. Love the idea of being able to make up my own crazy breakfast. that idea alone makes this an awesome hang over cure...<br/>it's totally kid friendly, and very sunny (neither of which help said hang over...) but i think both those features are wonderful - two highly sought after characteristics for a Sunday morning brunch spot.<br/>will be back soon.
Rollergirl
Yes....!!!!. One of the best breakfasts you will get in Perth<br/>Great coffee<br/>Excellent service<br/>Amazing toast!!!<br/>Don't forget to try a Treacle Snap....The yummiest thing ever!!
Stevie Callan
Toasty. Don't let the name of this place put you off, much to my pleasant surprise they actually sell other stuff too, which is great because i didn't feel like toast. I wanted eggs. It was a glorious day and we were lucky enough to secure a spot outside. Secure is probably the wrong word to use in this case, because as soon as we got up to order our food a couple of vultures in womens clothing stole our seats. "Oh sorry were you sitting here?" she asked apologetically. "No i accidentally fell over and couldnt get up for ten minutes so i thought i'd read a menu while i was waiting for someone to help me up" is what i didn't say. ( i thought of it later) I know they were watching us. It didn't matter in the end because we found another seat outside. If you do sit outside make sure you are with someone who has good reflexes as i can guarantee that your napkin WILL attempt to escape. Not this time napkin, i'm like a hawk. I ordered well done poached eggs on a weird fetta pancake thing. FYI I don't like runny eggs. Breakfast is so much more fun if you go with someone who orders something else. We traded a little of our meals with each other so it was like getting 2 for the price of one. She had french toast with cottage cheese. I think that means the toast is a little arrogant and rude. (Just kidding i love french people, except Thierre Henry) and it was delish. I also ordered a double espresso but it came in a shipping container which was dissapointing (ok im exaggerating, but it was too big a cup for a small drink.) I always feel i am getting better value for money when espresso is in a small cup. I had a look at other peoples cups and they were all different. I think they might source them from an op-shop which is cool but i do hope they washed them first (you never know where they have come from) Overall i would highly recommend toast although i think they should change the name to "Toast and lots of other food and drinks"

It's official: the best breakfast in Perth. I would have to say breakfast is my favourite meal to eat out, so i'm always on the hunt for a fantastic hot spot in Perth...In Melbourne high standard cafes serving breakfast are on every 2nd corner, but in Perth I believe it's quite rare.<br/><br/>I've been lucky enough to have breakfast at Toast on the waterfront in East Perth 3 times in the past couple of months. <br/>First choice, poached eggs, avocado, hollandaise and corn fritters. 2nd morning, i was feeling ambitious and had the full breakfast.<br/>But on my 3rd stop over, i couldn't help but order the 1st option again. It is by far, the tastiest corn fritters i have ever tasted! The poached eggs were also perfectly cooked, hollandaise so well balanced and the avocado is a perfect addition as it really cuts the grease. My friend and i ordered a side of toast to clean our plates actually!<br/> <br/>To me, Toast stands out as it's one of the few cafes that you don't walk away feel too stuffed full of white bread. If you order bread, it is the lightest, tastest, freshest bread you would have tasted in a long time. A perfectly balanced and absolutely delicious meal, thank you. <br/><br/>To top things off, the location is lovely - you forget you're in the middle of man made east perth with the river and the plants around the cafe. AND the staff are really friendly. <br/>East Perth is getting up there in my favourite suburbs to eat out...
Thepinkhouse
Glad I tried it...... Went to Toast for breakfast this morning. It is another place I have been trying to get to. Look, it is cute and fun and really, really busy! The tables are small and inside was a bit cramped. I had a latte which I must say was good. The scrambled eggs were ok and there was lots of bacon. The eggs were nothing spectacular. <br/>The water jugs are cute but plastic IKEA cups? Really? And they were dirty. I do think the table numbers in sand in the glas jars are cute too.<br/>I am in no hurry to return and in fact feel a little disappointed. West End Deli rules.
Ashleigh North
The staff were lovely, on the phone and in person. However, the food left something to be desired. The pumpkin was the best thing but such a tiny serving compared to the masses of boring packet spinach they use.Same with the muffins (out of a Coles brand packet even?) , the ham was rubbery and the eggs Benedict could have been better. The potato pancake and corn fritter were barely edible, I wasnt the only one who left them on the plate. No hashbrowns either? Not cool. Milk in the coffee tasted old but the juices were good. Too cluttered and a bit grubby inside. They need to re think how they serve the water and invest in some good napkins. Overall, not impressive. MickeyD's would have been cheaper and I could have had a hashbrown.
Morsels
Put this on your "must try" list. Without a doubt one of the best breakfasts on town. Scrambled eggs and bacon with French toast is exceptional, as are the crepes and just about everything else on the menu. Good coffee, too.
Honkie
Not too bad, need to re-evaluate $$ or portions!. Very well situated in East Perth, along the river, great location and view. Drop by during the Christmas season and it was the only the cafe opened for business along the river. As a vet in brunch (Melbourne) and with any new place, I tend to go for the big breakie, in this case paying $20 for a potion that is generally $11-$15, i was pretty disappointed, not only in portions but content was also lacking. No spinach, "barely" any mushrooms (4), toast wasn't even hot enough for the butter blocks to melt/spread.<br/> <br/>The most notable thing would be the service, was fast, attentive and good amount of staff and it was quite busy at the time, seems to be a very popular spot for the locals. Will consider other places before this.
Geoff The Chef
Oh love this place. Just the atmosphere is lovely. Food was average, coffee was great. But the staff were lovely and setting impressive. 45 minute drive for me but will go back regularly. So far my favourite cafe in Perth and closest I have seen to quirky nz cafes.
Lance Carl Yapp An
Average. Nothing special. Food portion is rather small, or maybe it's the big plate they use make the food looks small. Coffee came later than the food. We also noticed that the Barista was taking her own sweet time to make coffees, even when the it's flooded with people. Cafe is warm and stuffy, no ventilation whatsoever, everyone seems to enjoy free sauna in a hot summer day, strange.
Petros
Great food but very busy on weekends. Food here is better than your average breakfast in Perth. Waitstaff are unusual but fine none the less. On Sundays it may take a while to get a table.
D
Wanted to love it but so disappointed. I have heard so many great things about Toast so went along for lunch. I sat outside and the staff were attentive. The menu was so exciting with all the options. However, once I got my dish it was tiny! The ingredients were staple eggs and potato so nothing too extravagant but the serve hardly touched the sides! And to pay close to $20 for a meal that was more like a starter was very disappointing. Also I hate that they leave the water from the poached eggs on the plate - it made everything soggy! But the staff were lovely and friendly so plus points there.
UncleKevin
Friendly. Liked the way the cafe looks - the cute interior objects and nice location. Coffee was good with strong espresso, but meals (big breakfast and eggs benedict?) seemed not as tasty as my partner and I expected. I was however impressed by their customer service - all the staff were serving with smile which is not what all the cafes in Perth can do.<br/>Overall it's a very nice place for breakfast with friendly staff and we'd go back in the sunny morning.
Jolene
Quirky menu and cute setting. Totally worth it!
FoodieKitten
A nice youngie looking cafe over looking the lake at East Perth! Can get very busy & packed during weekend! Good foods & friendly staffs with big menu but I would say the foods quality & presentation are moderate! Nevertheless, I'm more than happy to go back for a casual weekend brekkie!
Jasmine
Pretty Good, Extensive Menu. I quite like this cafe. Lots to choose from and some different items on the menu.. looking forward to heading back and trying their corn fritters. Staff were great with our complicated orders, they are happy to change things around for people with food sensitivities. I had the baked polenta w/ poached eggs, pumpkin, field mushroom and potato cake.. it was quite good and the polenta was really tasty, had just enough cheese in it.. I ate it all of course, but.. I guess after having been to Sayers where the food is presented well, the presentation at Toast was not that flash, but hey, food was still pretty damn good and I'm keen to go back still.
Amber
Thoroughly enjoyed my first visit to Toast for breakfast yesterday - lovely location, and helpful friendly service. They were more than happy to accommodate the changes I requested to my meal. Food came out quickly and was fresh and tasty. Coffee wasn't amazing although I usually carry my own sweetener but had forgotten so was drinking it without. I'll definitely be back to try some of the "guiltier" breakfast options. Perfect start to the day - thanks toast!
Clairespeno
Great views. Great scenic spot in East Perth. Specialises in all day breakfast. The salads are pretty good too. I had the homemade lemonade - delicious
Jaclyn Tan
Consistently delicious. I've been to Toast more than a few times and the service has always been great as well as the quality of the food! I LOVE their potato rosti and the poached eggs are always perfect. Their french toast with ricotta and blueberries were also quite impressive. It's location is nice and relaxing too near the river.<br/><br/>Cannot wait to go back here!

Good but not great. It is such a hip place, beautiful location with the view of river, trees, sailing boat. I felt like in Italy. Ah yes, it is so easy to recognised the restaurant as well, as it was the most crowed. Dinners have to queue up to order. Yes, I know this is the right place. We were happy which what we saw. The cute cups, water bottle and even the number stand. I love sweet peas drink with the hint of basil. It is wow. Food wise, after long time waiting for food. I ordered potato, poached eggs with smoked salmon and cream sauce chives with corn flitter and my partner got his full breakfast with they all came out in cold dishes. Even the bread was not toast enough. However, we did have good experience. Definitely will be back and expect our dishes are freshly, crunchy warmly breakfast.

Rude and thoughtless. Was at Toast on the weekend in search of a good coffee. I ordered two flat whites then was asked if I wanted sugar to which I said 'no'. After 20 minutes the coffees arrived (I was cool with this because it was busy). I then tasted the coffee noting that both had sugar. Not being the sweet-tooth, I took them back and asked for two new ones. The lady in charge of the machine then proceeded to continue making the next 4-8 coffees before I interjected and asked when ours was coming at which point she threw our money back at us telling us we could buy our coffee elsewhere!! I was a bit shocked to be honest because we were being very patient. Anyway my tip for the punters: Get your coffee elsewhere. Cheers.

M mmmm. So good! Love it we will be back! xx

There is much better out there Food sounds great and lots of different breakfast choices . But served luke warm bland flavors just wanted it too be better . Table we sat at was held together with tape. Nice setting though but there is better coffee and food out there
Lydia
Amazing Juice!. The beach bear juice gets me everytime! I ride around the swan and always stop here. Such a lovely vibe with great customer service. The setting, staff and vibe are always on key and that is seen by the strong number of consumers visiting. I am very impressed by this cafe and continue to recommend it to my friends. The food and drinks are lovely.

Gluten free french toast with ricotta and berries. Loved it

Awesome breakfast with Awesome atmosphere. They have friendly staffs, awesome food - big servings and tastes good, and they are situated just in the middle of east perth so the view is just wonderful. It's perfect for a sunday brunch or just weekday catch up with friends and have a relaxing afternoon. =D

Sunshine for My Stomach. Breakfast always good to start an even better day but its a shame if the price is all over the egg and bacon. I would rather to cook and pay less than what I have to pay for.<br/><br/>It is applied to other breakfast restaurant too.

Calm Down Everybody!. I come to Toast a lot and work in the industry and am completely befuddled that 50 people stand around on a Sunday staring at me whilst waiting for a table!<br/>Even more weirdly, judging by some of the service reviews below, it is then a fault of the cafe that they do not get a seat.? As much as I really appreciate Toast for what it does, I don't reckon that I would wait for more than five minutes for a table ANYWHERE, and to be honest, no cafe can serve food that is good enough to stand around in the great outdoors. I don't think that the staff at Toast, no matter how hard they try, could attempt to please the amount of patrons that try to squeeze in on a weekend between 9 and 12. they are busy enough trying to serve those that are actually the customers, and I reckon if you are one of the lucky ones sitting down, WITH A TABLE, that is a fact that you may appreciate. So my educated advice on the matter is, DON"T EXPECT A TABLE on a busy Saturday or Sunday morning, and DON"T WAIT AROUND STARING AT ME while I read my paper, I'm in four times a week and can tell you that you can get a table plenty of other times, so I will relax and drink my coffee, thanks. I appreciate the "no waiting list" policy as it means that there may be a chance that a regular like me may get a seat, and not to be told that there is an hour's wait for a table. That to me would be silly and a greater disservice. I can only think that people are so used to getting what they want when they want that their noses are out of joint that in these instances it doesn't work, Come back later! Come another time! Calm down! It's just a bloody cafe!

Hard to choose - everything sounds so good!. Totally spoilt for choice with the Toast menu. Will be back again. Be sure to get there early if you want to snag a table!

Maybe not for breakfast?. I really, really wanted to like Toast. I LOVE breakfast, and their menu is filled with so many interesting options. Unfortunately I came away feeling like the whole experience was over-hyped and not everything it was cracked up to be.<br/><br/>Yes, it's hip, yes, the attention to detail in the decor is adorable and yes, they are offering some fare that no one else in Perth is. But it was an overcrowded and uncomfortable dining experience, and having to stand menacingly over tables as they finish up to make sure someone doesn't snag it before you is awkward for everyone.<br/><br/>Most of all though, I actually wasn't all that impressed by the food. I was DYING for the corn fritters with bacon and maple syrup, but the fritters were made almost entirely of corn kernels stuck loosely together by a little egg, and were in themselves way too sweet to call for maple syrup. The bacon helped a little, but there was nothing to soak the syrup up, you just had to kind of wipe everything in it.<br/><br/>If I had the opportunity to go back during a quiet period, I would. The menu is way too tempting for me to not give it a second chance. I do not want to relive the busy breakfast experience again though!

Great service/coffee/setting. A friend and I went there to Toast for coffee. It was very nice, and the service was very friendly. I also loved the setting. I am looking forward to having a meal there soon. I feel though they would really do well by making it a table service cafe.

Toast of the town?? Hmm..... After all the hype of Toast it's an understatement to say I was excited to eat here and dragged my partner Mr.B along. There was a very disorganised vibe about the place with people waiting for tables scattered everywhere and in no particular order. The waiter told us we were about fourth in line for a table so we waited patiently by the wall to the side. Twice we saw people Waltz in and nab tables without waiting in line and another couple saw a table getting ready to leave and asked for them to reserve the table for them. As someone who had been waiting patiently in an imaginary line this was very frustrating. After asking the waiter when we would be getting a table we were told to "just grab one when you see one free"!! Hang on mate isn't that your job? Toast definitely need to work out some sort of system for when they have a backlog of patrons. Some poor chaps newspaper blew away and staff just watched as he haplessly chased it around the cafe. Service was poor to say the least.<br/><br/>After a 25 minute wait for a table we had to wait another 20 for our food. Despite the rocky start to our breakfast, the cafe setting and ambience was all there. A busy bustling cafe with wonderful outdoor seating on the rivers edge.<br/><br/>The coffee (again a boring old latte and ice mocha for<br/>Mr.B) was yummy, but even that took about 15 minutes to come out. We ordered the Corn fritters with avocado, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce and potato pancakes with poach eggs and salmon. The corn fritter breakfast was an absolutely perfect combination of flavours and is highly recommended. The potato pancakes were also very good, but not as good as the corn fritters.<br/><br/>Overall Toast has a winning recipe if only they could get their service up to scratch.

Amazing! Quite possibly the best breakfast ever. Recommended by a friend with excellent taste and we will certainly be telling all our friends too.

Strong, bitter and hot perfect<br/><br/><br/>-----01 Aug, 2011-----<br/><br/>Loved the food friendly fast service and fantastic coffee.

Toast offers friendly service, but sad to say they are bad coffee makers. Both my mother and I had coffee's where the milk was burnt because it was over boiled and the Capps lacked froth. A coffee needs to be creamy and full of flavour. Also we were disappointed with breakfast - where we were sitting we could look directly into the kitchen - firstly would say my mothers breakfast was overpriced for ham cheese and mushroom crepe with cheap ingredients why I say that is - the crepes were not freshly made she brought a stack out of the fridge to use and secondly the cheese used was Woolworths Homebrand Tasty. You can see bitterly dissapointed. Expecting quality produce yet to find precooked and cheap ingredients. I think if this is what Toast is all about then it is just a fad place to be seen not a place of food
Nicola
I've been here twice now and loved it both times. Great coffee and the food is delicious. I love that they use good quality produce. Can't wait to try more tasty treats on the menu!
Global Foodie
It's ok. Toast is ok. The location is very good, the food and service are good, but not great. I think better options exist. It is not in the same league as Sayers, West End Deli and City Farm

Love It. Went here on a sunday morning.<br/>Not to my surprise the place was packed. But luckily the friendly waiter saved us a table inside within a couple of minutes. <br/>Food did take a while but this is understandable giving the number of people that were packed in there. <br/>Had a special, Poached eggs with fresh sardines and spinach on big pieces of multigrain toast. Was Amazing!<br/>Mum had Crepes with a rubarb and rasberry compote with toasted almonds. Was also very tasty!<br/>No Complaints! Will be back!

Unimpressed. I'm honestly puzzled at the rave reviews Toast receives. Our first visit on a Sunday morning we walked out and went elsewhere after an unpleasant conversation with the angry looking woman behind the counter, the second time on a Saturday morning we stayed with the same woman scowling from behind the counter looking fairly unimpressed about being there... from what I understand she's the owner and normally friendly, but hey, we must've gotten her on a bad day... twice.<br/><br/>I like the quirky touches around the cafe but the layout isn't brilliant as it just feels overcrowded and their organisational abilities are questionable. They need some sort of system with differentiating customers sitting inside and out as the staff just wander around cluelessly trying to figure out what in the world they're doing most of the time.<br/><br/>The fresh squeezed orange juice was lovely but the food was painfully slow and by the time it arrived I was ready to start chewing my own arm off. With regards to the food I was far from wowed, the poached eggs were fine but my dish arrived sans-ordered bacon, with unseasoned bland roast tomatoes and double the amount of toast required for the volume of food... yes, toast is your namesake but come on, when I spend $50+ on breakfast I like to walk away filling satisfied and not wanting to make a pitstop through the McDonalds drive-thru on the way home. <br/><br/>The location is beautiful as with all other establishments on the Claisebrook Cove but given their reputation Toast is disappointing overall.
Jenny
Lovely setting & lovely food. I've been for breakfast on three occasions and each time the food was great, the service was prompt and friendly and with that setting why wouldn't you keep going back!
Gennai Martin
Totally Toasted. Headed to Toast today with the boy for a spot of brunch. Had heard it was quite a popular place so thought we'd check it out. Seating is limited so had to wait a few minutes but managed to score a little table overlooking the river =) both ordered the full breakfast and were given eater while we waited.<br/>Breakfast arrived.. Bacon was cooked perfectly, not too "soggy" but not burnt to a crisp, eggs were nice and crunchy around the edge but still had a runny yolk. Mushrooms were good and the sausages and tomatoes were cooked nicely. Coffee was a bit weak but not bad. Toast was a little cold but nothing that really could be improved upon. All in all a great day out in the lovely sunshine. Good food, good company and good view.. Who can complain?
Kelly
Still a favourite. It really doesn't matter how such time passes til your next visit to toast. The coffee is always great, the service warming and the treats still as tempting. Surrounded by herbs and veggies, it's a great little spot to chill out.
Erica Rojas
Get in early on a weekend because it fills up quickly! The options are endlesss, the price great, and the staff are wonderful. Dogs invited too :) the view is very pleasant & location is too. You can never go wrong with toast.
Beer Fiend
Food and service are great!. I go to toast most weekends and the food is always good and the wait staff provide the most welcoming and prompt service. The coffee however, has gone downhill, the guy who usually makes it hasn't been around lately and I suspect this has something to do with it, also the furniture outside is awkward at best. Other than that its fantastic.
Poached Eggs On Toast
Toast is the most!. I've been trying to go to Toast for a while now so I had high expectations. I was not disappointed! The corn fritters with avocado and a poached egg was delicious! Although I was slightly jealous of my friends polenta and mushroom which was possibly more delicious. The fresh juices are lovely and the coffee was yummy. With such a nice location it was a lovely way to waste a morning - especially since the staff don't rush you despite always being full.<br/>Highly recommended!
Smoochems
Nice Location but Overrated. Both of our breakfasts were pretty average, but the location is nice. <br/>The wait wasn't too long and I like eating at a spot where people are coming and going, dogs frolicking etc. so Toast had plenty of that. My polenta was not that impressive though, and for the price I would rather go to a different cafe and be really satisfied.
FoodLover
Crepes with avocado, bacon and spinach were yummy, but not amazing. The brownie was drid out. Juice was nice as was the view and staff.
Master And The Chef
Definitely worth a visit for breakfast.... My husband and I went to Toast this morning for breakfast and we thoroughly loved it. <br/>A fantastic, extensive breakfast selection to choose from. <br/>My husband had the full cooked breakfast and I tried the herb and mushroom omelette. Both of our meals were made with good quality, fresh produce which were cooked to perfection. I will definitely be going back just to sample their potato, fetta and mint pancakes which sound superb. <br/>The location is idyllic and the service was spot on. <br/>My only complaint was that the bread was not that spectacular. Maybe with a name like 'toast' my expectation of the quality of bread was a little too high, but my sourdough tasted like it was something you could purchase from a regular supermarket rather than bakery quality. <br/>I also did not love the decor, but appreciated the quirkiness. <br/>I will definitely be adding this to my list of favourite breakfast venues along with Sayers and West End Deli.

Amazing!! Beautiful breakfast, can't wait to return :)

Great staff, food and location. Wonderfully quirky cafe. The staff are very friendly and there are lots of healthy options - definitely recommended.

Love it! Great food, coffee, location and decor. Prices are good for a Perth breakfast, have been twice and very impressed both times! Must-try!

YES!. What more's there left to say, maybe I'd add- JUST GO! :) <br/><br/>I wanted to take my Mum out somewhere nice for a slap up mother's day breakkie. So yesterday I hit the net to see if there were any review sites that could help
Whoa! Was I surprised- not only by the sheer volume of blogs offering their sincere thoughts on everything and anything to do with Perth's eateries but also by the quality of the prose and photography some went to. <br/><br/>So after trawling for a while I settled with 2 or 3 of my favourites and knuckled down to discover the Perth eatery marketplace.<br/><br/>As you can surmise by the page I am writing on TOAST won on all counts. Unfortunately though to try and find a free table (that you could book) in one of Perth's most popular cafés one day before mother's day was impossible. So there we were at 8:15am my seventy err ahem year old Mum - Love you Mum! :) - her eighty-six year old husband and I truddling off down to East Perth (the trusty walking frame/seat in the boot just in case
) to try and score a table in TOAST
We literally couldn't have left it more than 5 minutes! Every seat was taken inside and out and 5 minutes after we arrived a line started snaking out from the cash register to the front of their business (you literally can't get it better than that as a business owner- customers standing in line to get your product/service!) <br/><br/>The order:<br/>1. polenta toast with mushrooms, soft Italian cheese, fresh parsley<br/>2. ham, cheese and mushroom crepe<br/>3. cheesy scrambled eggs with chives, roasted tomato and rye toast<br/><br/>4. 1x cappuccino<br/>5. 1x VERY weak cappuccino<br/>6. 1x teapot of black tea with lemon<br/><br/>The review:<br/> <br/>The décor was Clean, Relaxed and Retro- I wont go into too much detail here as I found it to be a nice surprise. I will say however that the cutlery and crockery selection was just great (you'll see what I mean) 7.5/10<br/> <br/>The portions were either big or large- Like that! 10/10<br/> <br/>The food's quality/presentation was excellent- especially considering how flat-out everyone was this morning. 9/10<br/> <br/>The food's "tasteability" was rated by a consensus as being "Excellent!"- THAT'S hard to beat!
Maybe "Superb!" (said with a heavy French accent) may just surpass "Excellent!" but that'd be the only adjective that would do it I reckon ;) 9.75/10<br/> <br/>The Waiting staff were there in numbers (and they needed to be!) and they were never more than 30 seconds away either
they were helpful, professional and polite- you can't ask or want for more 10/10 <br/> <br/>Pricing vs. Quantity- GREAT value for money! 10/10<br/><br/>As this is my first review I've probably left something out- sorry 'bout that if I did- but in ending I'll just reiterate what I said in the beginning of this review:<br/><br/>JUST GO! :) YOU CAN'T BE DISAPPOINTED.<br/><br/>Oh and will I go again
 "I'll be baack!" <br/><br/>Bon Appetite!<br/><br/>http://www.toasteastperth.com

Amazing!! Coffees came out hot and were made quite good. Staff were friendly, and happy to provide me with extra condiments upon request at no extra charge, and with a smile. Food was all delicious, will definitely return (and hopefully very soon!)

Luv it.. I really like this place. Everything about it is right - the coffee, the food, the service and the location.

I am a regular and quite a fan of Toast. A favourite of mine being the potatoe, mint & Feta pancakes with smoked salmon and poached eggs, always cooked to perfection and a delightful fusion of flavours.<br/>At my second visit to Toast I ordered a fresh squeezed orange juice that tasted sour, like the rind had been juiced aswell. Upon my complaint to the manager, she explained that oranges taste different ways throughout the year and offered to replace it with a drink of my choosing, very accomodating.<br/><br/>My only criticism is waitstaff taking plates away from the table when the rest of the tabel hadn't finished eating, It's happened repeatedly and I just find it rude.
Chicken Teriyaki Boy
Had brunch there with my.... Had brunch at Toast with my partner and sister. I had the corn fritters with eggs, bacon, drizzled in maple syrup. Highly recommended if you're chasing a sweet yet salty bit of tucker. Kudos to the friendly and attentive staff who were quick to top up water and clear table of plates.
NOMA
Nice retro space, nice service, good coffee, ok food although passing watered down honey for maple sirup is not good, the avocado should have been fresher, the French Toast less omeletty and you'd expect better toast at Toast.
Dirtybirdgeorge
Great Place for Brunch. This place is great - I have the same thing EVERY time because it's just so darned tasty! Potato, mint and feta pancakes with smoked salmon, poached eggs,<br/>sour cream and chives - highly recommended and it will keep you going all day. <br/><br/>Usually places with views as great as this fail to impress (just check out the Royal next door....) but it hits the spot every time. <br/><br/>This Anzac Day holiday even saw Niel Finn wander in and I'm pretty sure he was darned impressed as well.<br/><br/>Oh, the coffee is good too, as are the staff. The chick behind the coffee machine sure knows how to make a coffee and boy can she run a tight operation out on the floor as well.<br/><br/>Well done guys.
Mztiff
Good food and a good location. A good selection on offer with a few items I have never seen on a breakfast menu before which made it very interesting. The big breakfast was great and eggs were cooked well, I also like that they served fresh green apple juice instead of the standard one you get from the shops.
Prue
All time fave. I love toast, the food is always delicious, and the service is super friendly. it has a great atmosphere and is well priced... i'll be back!
Tully
Exceptional service. tasty food. decently priced. incredible atmosphere. if you're looking for somewhere new to try here is the place!
Maks Steszewski
Great atmosphere, great service, delicious food - 100% recommendable! I enjoyed a lovely ciabatta role today with a beautiful home made iced tea.

So nice. Have been back several times and toast is consistently great for tasty breakfast. like like like
Marama
Went for brunch at toast with my family, amazing view but thought our service was shocking! Average meals, bitter coffee, was not happy!
Tim Evans
Hidden treasure. What agreat atmosphere! Busy place, food is not your usual cafe fair, as I for one am sick of bacon and eggs and bloody focaccias everywhere you go! Had the most delicious, banana crepes, the coffee is real, when you ask for an extra shot, you get it! :) Lots of wonderful French props, really stands out as something different in Perth. highly recommend, get there early, it is extremely popular.
Food Groove
Winning Combination. I am all for quality produce combined with down-to-earth, friendly staff, and Toast has this forumla down to a tee.<br/><br/>The banana crepes are melt-in-your mouth, and the bacon with maple syrup is to die for! Even my little one insists on eating here for their thoughtful toy box in the corner (and their delicious banana bread). <br/><br/>The location in East Perth is supreme, yet all other restaurants previously occupying this spot have never managed to fill their chairs. Toast has finally broken the bad spell by figuring out that all diners want are fresh, quality produce, friendly service and reasonable prices. <br/><br/>Winning combination!
Pentacles22
Busy little Spot for Sunday brunch. The Breakfast was great, the service was super, staff attentive and so friendly. The Espresso was over extracted and bitter ...however that is something that they can fix :)
Eddy
Set on the beautiful canals of East Perth this restaurant is host to some delightful flavors and an ideal breakfast location. Great food at a good price is what is advertised and it's exactly what you'll get with some added fun and happy service it's the perfect place for those autumn days.
Lazarus
Great Brekky!!!. One of the best breakfasts I have had in Perth for a long time. Even when they were flat out on a Sunday morning courteous prompt service was the order of the day. No wonder they are the busiest establishment on a Sunday morning in East Perth!! Well done guys !!!
Vicx
Friendly, welcoming service. Food was great, the corn fritta, poached eggs and advocado was something different but yummy for brekkie. My only critique was that there was no high chair.
Terrine De Lapin
Not bad but I don't think the grundgy retro look suits this up market setting
The Pescatarian
I don't get it!. Went here because of the rave reviews and the place was crowded on a Sunday morning. The proprietor does seem friendly, which is nice, so credit to her. The food was ok, service was ok, the tables and chairs were small and uncomfortable, and call me crazy but I'm just not that fond of warm tap water in plastic cups. Quirky over quality.
Out And About
Friendly staff, great menu, relaxed feel, brilliant breakfast... it was the perfect start to the day by the waterfront. Toast has a great "local" feel about it. The warmth that comes with dedicated service staff, as having the right combination of setting and food menu. If you are after a side to your coffee after your breakfast, try a slice of their banana bread. I know that I will... time and time again. In my opinion and right now, Toast is king for breakfast.
Kelly Belly
Not Quite Toasted to Perfection. Eggs were perfectly poached, although muffins weren't toasted enough (how ironic) and the hollandaise was a little runny and too acidic. <br/><br/>However, it's a lovely spot with friendly staff. I'll be back to give it another whirl.
FatCat
All good. Got there about 7:15 on a Saturday morning (not my preferred time but Mr FatCat, who appears not to understand the concept of tip-toeing, arose rather early today) and the place was already filling up. Nice comfortable feel, really good coffee, tasty mushroom omelet (although a little overcooked for my liking). Mr FatCat (who seems to be on a mission to try bacon and eggs at every cafe in Perth) left not a skerrick on his plate. The toast was nice and crispy and it was reasonably priced. Add a lovely view of the water and some friendly staff and it all added up to a very relaxed and pleasant morning. We'll be back.
Imiuyou
Love that you can still get breakfast at 2pm!

Sardine Surprise (BAD). I like the venue, and the staff are very friendly but the owner's (Ursula) attitude was shocking. I ordered the Sardines on toast ($10) and when it came out the two pieces of toast were laid across each other.<br/><br/>The sardine looked really sparse across the top piece and then when I lifted the top piece to one side there was nothing on the underneath piece of toast. <br/><br/>So I asked the waiter if I could get some more sardines - at which point he took the plate away and said no problem. Then the fun started...<br/><br/>Out came the owner telling me that that is all the sardines you get and if I liked they could spread the sardine around in an even sparser fashion. Or I could pay for another portion of sardines $10!!!!. I said normally when I make this dish at home I can cover at least two slices of toast not one! At which point she said I can show you the tin, to which I replied <br/>No, it's ok I'll just have the dish back. <br/>No No she said storming back to the kitchen coming back with a tin of sardines - this is the tin size you had.<br/><br/>At this point I was really embarrassed for her; I mean what is the point in having an argument with a customer over a tin of sardines. - For the cost of another tin of sardines ($1), she could have made me happy and gained a rave review - instead I'm here writing to tell everyone about her attitude. Very disappointed and won't be returning.
Nosmo King
First rate salads reasonably priced!
Murgles
YUMMY!! A must try.... This place is heavenly!! The size of your order is always just right - they have a way of making everything taste magical!! I am a grouchy bastard in the morning, but eating here perks me up in a snap.. Give it a try!
Vabella
Om Nom Nom. I had to download the menu a few days in advance because everything looks so good. I think my favourite things about this cafe is that they have real banana milkshakes (as you can see with the hanging bananas) and large coffee mugs like the ones I crave when watching an episode of Friends as they sip from their gigantic mugs at that cafe they frequent. I would love to try the Polenta toast.
John Smith
Run Screaming!. Regular breakfast eaters, 'cos most people are. We decided to check out the east perth scene. On a toss-up between the Partisan and Toast we chose to have TOAST.<br/>Well, the coffee was good, not burnt, good creme.etc<br/>The food wasn't. At $15-20 a main I'd rather have stopped at a truck stop for some spaghetti out of a tin, on wonder white.<br/>For $51.4 we got a full vege breakfast which consisted of a dry cheesy stuffed mushroom, undercooked watery tomatoes, a tasteless corn fritter, two poached eggs; all under some white toast. And the other meal was a croissant filled with swiss cheese, dijon and rubbery scrambled eggs, not a hint of seasoning to be seen.<br/>0 stars.<br/>Cool water bottles, but a shame to fill them with room temperature pool water (chlorine variety).
Sam
A toast to Toast.... Located on the picturesque Claisebrook cove, Toast has been a favourite of mine for some time now. The coffee is always good (the latte is one of the best in perth), and when I have the time, Breakfast at Toast is an amazing start to the day - The eggs Benedict are my personal favourite. The food is not cheep, however for the quality I would go no where else. Do yourself a favour, take half an hour out of your morning, grab a coffee and some "Real" breakfast, and soak up some rays whilst overlooking the cove.
Holly Doll
Great Food If You Want To Pay Too Much. Okay, so the venue is cool, the food is nice, but spending almost $40 on breakfast for one is out of the question.<br/><br/>I have been back twice but only because friends have insisted on trying it themselves.<br/><br/>Dont get me wrong, the food is delish, but the same at every other breakfast joint. <br/><br/>If you are happy to pay the money then come here for sure and enjoy the pretty people walk by, but if you dont have the funds, try else where
Kelbel13
Disappointing. Located in a great spot overlooking the water, we had high expectations of this place. However, we were very disappointed. I ordered a chocolate milkshake & full breakfast, which alone was $19.50. The bacon tasted as though it was reheated it was barely edible and had no flavour. There was also mushrooms, scrambled eggs, tomato & sausages all of which were very bland & presentation (not that this matters to me) was very plain and definitely overpriced for what it was.
Suzi
Great breakffasts. One of the better places in East Perth to have breakfast
Colin.Kirsteen Pang
Sweet tooth. Love breakkie here! Corn fitters with bacon and egg are a championship dish and loadssss of maple syrup please!! Think they are Canadian, whatever it tastes amazing. Love the coffee and beans they use too! Great job, keep it up!
ValenciaaaBell
Love it!. Definitely a place to go for breakfast/brunch and lunch! It's a small little area with a lovely view and decorations which give it a very funky kind of vibe. The food is delicious especially the mushroom crepe and banana crepe! have already recommended a few friends
Goose
Great breaky, bit chaotic but fun.. Great food, service is fine. It's pretty chaotic inside and outside on weekends, and a bit frustrating not being able to make bookings but I guess this is all part of the charm here. <br/>The food is fantastic, the fruit toast with ricotta and grated apple with honey in particular is amazing, as is much of the menu that we've tried. Fresh juices and hot coffee, we're definitely sold on this place :)
Frankie
Awesome spot. I really loved it. Seemed to represent Perth beautifully. The friendly service, great food and beverages, and the SUNSHINE oh how i love a sunny breakfast :)
Mr B
Sunday goodness. Popped in mid morning for a late breakfast on Sunday at Toast. Service is excellent, very welcoming staff, as we sat down water and cups were brought to the table and we were informed that to order please go to the counter. After looking at the extensive menu, eggs bendict, the egg white omelette along with a couple of long macs was ordered. Coffees arrived promptly, hot, and well made in 70's style glasses. Our meals arrived soon after, both filling the plate, hot and fresh. Both tasted delicious, the omelette came with two massive slices of toast, more than you could ever want. Eggs benny, perfect, sauce was so delicious. Very happy with the total experience and will be going back again.
DjunaSpoona
Disappointed. Had heard lots about Toast and went at about 9 am on Sunday morning. Service was quick and friendly enough but coffee was almost undrinkable. Weak and bitter, the long mac tasted like the machine hadn't been cleaned for a week. The barista seemed very distracted, was constantly doing three things at once and talking to various people. If the quality of the coffee had been up to par this might not have been a problem, but it seemed like the barista should have concentrated a bit more on the job instead of trying to do too many other things as well. Perhaps they were simply under-staffed, or it was just an off day, as others seem to be raving about the coffee..
Rosemaryg
Disappointed. We went to Toast for breaky this morning after reading great reviews. We were a largish table and had to wait. That became the highlight of the morning. The service from then on was friendly but unprofessional. We had to change tables 3 times. <br/>The food was average. I didn't have a hot drink but from those in our group said it was ok.<br/>I had poached eggs on toast. Since when is toast on egg an acceptable presentation, and on a side plate. The egg were cooked in so much vinegar it made me wince on the first mouthful and half the cooking water left on the plate. Draining the eggs is so easy and makes all the difference. I say cooked but really sloppy whites around the yolk are revolting. I could go on.<br/>Great views, eclectic cafe, good prices for Perth and of course great company.

Great spot and excellent selection to choose from. This cafe is a goer! You can sit under shaded umbrellas outside by the water or sot inside if you prefer. Good atmosphere and excellent breakfast menu. Not just the usual breakfast suspects but good selections (even for a pregnant woman who is finding breakfast choices limited at the moment).<br/>Although you order at the counter, service was excellent, food was prompt and the staff friendly. Would receommend and will visit again and again.

'Toast' was a very nice experience, made better by great weather and it's superb location, not far from the Perth CBD. Whilst the service was a bit slow, it was very busy on a Saturday morning so I could forgive that. The staff were friendly and the coffee very nice. I had the French toast, it was also very tasty. I would recommend Toast to just about anyone!

Stopped in for a quick bit of breakfast on a Friday morning to be nicely supprised by toasts bright chilled atmosfear. I ordered eggs benadict a simple dish that for some reason a lot of resaurants fail on. Not at toast, my eggs were perfect and runny, and the sauce home made (thank you) a really enjoyable meal.

Yummy Breakfast. We ordered crepes (savoury ham, cheese and mushroom) and vegetarian turkish toasts -just lovely. Great coffee and good service too. <br/><br/>During previous visits, I fell in love with their hollandaise sauce. Just order anything with hollandaise if you can't decide what to eat at toast.

Love it!. Lovely fresh food, great coffee, staff are always nice and the setting couldnt be any better. Just want to sit there all day.

Bad day?. I went to Toast during the week and when I arrived I felt I instantly understood what everyone was raving about. The location is absolutely beautiful and it was nice to see people and their pooches enjoying the sun on the outside tables. <br/>Although I really tried to stay optimistic I was very disappointed with our food and drinks. The coffee was OK, except the waitress spilt our flat whites on delivery, looked to see what she had done and ran off rather than offering to wipe up the saucer. My dish - the Toast with roasted tomato and fetta was quite bland. I didn't really like the fetta (especially as I compared it with the delicious marinated fetta served at Voyage) and the overall dish felt dry and tasteless. I made the mistake of ordering the crumbed mushrooms on the side which were actually inedible (much prefer the delicious crumbed mushrooms at Sayers). So all in all - great location if you just want a coffee - but if you're looking for good food, head elsewhere!

Must have been on a bad day! I always hear how great this place is, but when I went for breakfast I had dry, bland french toast. The maple flavoured syrup was very sparse! My friend had the corn fritters which were, again bland, as well as being burnt. Will try again and am hoping for the experience others have had.

Toast!! Lill gem.. I must confess being a tad put off by the location. Smack bang next to The Royal, I expected crazy prices n weird choices. To my suprise, the offered menu is both reasonable and extensive. This has resulted in both my partner and I to return over 5 times now. If I were to grumble? I am a self confessed coffee wh*re. So when ordering a large with n extra shot the coffee works out to be over $6! Offset, Service n Smiles. I'm V Happy here Viva le Toast!!

Tasty.... We enjoy coming to Toast for the coffee and there yummy cakes.... We love the quirky-ness of the place and great atmosphere. We look forward to eating breakfast.....

Great Coffee, Great Location. Definatley one of the best coffees I have had in Perth and a great location on the water front. Yum Yum!!

Love it !. Toast has it all - great coffee, good food and an amazing location. I love going here for lunch - the Freo smoked sardines is one of my all time favourites but everything they serve is good. Service is efficient and cheerful.

Who doesn't enjoy toast?. A great place to have sunday morning brekkie. the food is always spot on and the coffee is always consistently fair. give toast a go!

Put phone on silent !. With so many reviews already written on this place I will keep it brief.<br/>Great food.<br/>Coffee- pretty good [could be stronger]<br/>Atmosphere-lovely.<br/>Staff friendly but not over friendly.<br/>Clientele - laid back and appreciative except for one IDIOT who either is not aware or does not care that MOBILE PHONES HAVE A SILENT / VIBRATE ONLY SETTING.

Mixed feelings. Toast is located in a great spot in Claisebrook precinct. All their food is made on site and is very good for low key cafe food. The coffee is 7/10. I still don't understand the whole no table service especially when their service counter is small & cramped with desserts, menus & staff making coffees. They really need to amp up their service to make customers feel welcomed & invited and willing to come back. There is stiff competition out their in this market.

Wonderful Cafe. Toast is absolutely fantastic coffee shop. The service is friendly, the food is fresh and healthy and the view is world class.<br/><br/>Easily the best place to eat a light meal in Perth.<br/><br/>If you want an alcoholic drink, eat at Toast and then go to the bar next door.

A little ray of sunshine on the waterfront. This is a gorgeous little café sitting pretty on the Claisebrook Cove waterfront in East Perth. I love the eclectic mix of 70s kitsch and vibrant colours that come with 50s vintage style. It's a great spot to have some breakfast, a coffee and watch the world go by. Oh, the brownies are divine, slightly chewy with chunks of dark chocolate to tantalise the tastebuds. Home made of course. Oh yum!

Love love love it. My partner and I went to toast last week for my birthday breakfast. I could not speak more highly of our experience there. I was looking for somewhere quirky, somewhere you can relax take in a nice view, oh and somewhere that has a more slightly interesting menu than the usual 'bacon and eggs'. It was everything I expected and more. I had read some reviews saying the coffee was amazing but the food not so good. I couldn't disagree more on the food. It was ah-mazing! I ordered the corn fritters with avo, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce. It was devine and the eggs were cooked to perfection (nothing worse than hard poached eggs). My partner ordered their big breakfast which he said was also delish and was a decent serving! The coffee was one of the best in perth and my partners fresh juice was very tasty! The staff are so friendly and make you feel at home. Toast's decor is so funky and a little retro - very cool. The menu is mostly breakfast items with a few lunch options but it really is great. There is all your basics and then more, it goes on and on (pancakes, muesli, porridge, crepes, eggs, bacon, corn fritters and every type of toast imaginable) I wanted to try everything! I would give it a 10 out of 10 :)

This is a beautiful breaky/brunch cafe with an almost a holiday feel, the perfect way to spend a relaxed lazy Sunday with your pooches or little people, try the crepes!

Easily the best coffee in Perth. Great menu, friendly staff who know their stuff and remember you when you come back. Which I now do regularly. thanks Urs.

Its okay!. This is the third time we've been to Toast. We LOVE their coffee. Its actually one of the best in Perth. We also like the sound of the items on the menu but in reality it never really lives up to our expectations.<br/><br/>I suggest great for coffee and cake!

Casual atmosphere with op-shop vibe. Interesting breakfast menu that goes well beyond the usual bacon and eggs. Corn fritters with bacon & maple syrup were delish, French toast rather good too.

We really enjoyed our sunny breakfast at Toast – with a wide range of options there is something there that is sure to suit everyone, and you simply can’t go past it for ambience and cute furnishings. The prices are fairly reasonable, and the food is simple but of great quality.

Beautiful location in East Perth with great food and service to complement. Expect to pay a little more than most breakfast cafes around Perth. It is a definite must try in my books.

The topic of my post today -  Toast , is a buzzing cafe located in Claisebrook Cove, East Perth. I fell completely in love with this place after coming here for the first time last year. Can't believe it took me this long to visit such a beautiful place!

Situated in the Autocad heart of what is known as the East Perth redevelopment zone, Toast is among a number of recently sprung cafes catering to the nouveau-capiche nattering classes. East Perth’s redevelopment from a dicey lead-contaminated periphery to a possibly-still lead-contaminated but now plush Legoland hasn’t been easy. Avaricious developers and gauche aesthetics have carved out a culturally hollow blandness, a little droplet of Mandurah by the Swan River. One suspects this is a haunting consequence of either investors simply parking their money in bricks and mortar, or Giffen goodery at work. Actually

Toast is a very popular breakfast spot in Perth and draws a crowd, as we discovered, even early on a weekday morning. The staff were really friendly and greeted us as we came in and were happy to chat over the coffee machine. We rather ambitiously all ordered coffee and a juice or smoothie. Tempted by the oodles of choice on the impractically sized menus. The best of the bunch was the banana and honey smoothie, it was thick, creamy and flavoursome. Everything you want in a fruit smoothie. It brought back memories of childhood summers with homemade banana smoothies, just as thick and delicious. The Blimey juice included carrot, apple and watermelon. It was a touch bland but that comes with the ingredients, especially because watermelon dilutes the mix further. The beach bear, which consisted of pineapple, apple, ginger and mint, was very refreshing and summery. Though it could have done with a little more ginger, it

... wanted the corn fritters, but I had to decide whether to get bacon and maple syrup ($16.90) or avocado, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce ($18) with it. In the end, I decided to get something more simple and less heavy and chose the latter. The corn fritters were delicious and I could tell that the corn came straight from the cob – it was super sweet. The avocado was fresh...

An attractive setting overlooking the Swan River I wasn’t feeling great after a week in hospital, but I wanted to spend some time with my good friend Mel, so when she suggested going for brunch at her local Toast , I jumped at the chance. Even though she lives just up the road, it was also Mel’s first visit to  Toast but she had heard good things so like a good friend should, I trusted her word – plus she knows they’d be hell to pay if it was crap Apart from treating myself to coffee and cake , going for an Aussie-style brunch is my favourite social activity, even topping an evening filled with espresso martini’s. After seven months on the road I couldn’t wait to reach Australia and wake up to some of my favourite flavours; avacado , pumpkin and a decent flat white. Flat White coffee from Toast Toast is situated in East Perth on the Swan River and is surrounded by a small selection of bars and restaurants. It is a modern yet charming little place with lots of flower pots and tables and

We made it to Toast which is in the most beautiful location – right on the little East Perth waterfront. It was swarming with people and were told would be a 15 minute wait. We could have changed locations but we were convinced it would be worth the wait.<br/> <br/>Surely enough we were being seated before we knew it and checking out the menu to see what would curb our appetites. There were so many tasty sounding items – and a really extensive menu too which was promising. I was impressed to see they had so many different types of bread, some I had never even heard of, but I guess that falls hand in hand with their name Toast.

Toast is one of those cafés you could spend the entire day drinking coffee and people watching. The cafe is situated in East Perth and overlooks Claisebrook Cove off the river Swan making this a great location for a lazy morning breakfast / brunch / lunch or just a coffee and a slice of cake :-)     We visited Toast prior to a midday meeting and wanted to grab a brunch and coffee beforehand. The menu offers plenty of options which include TOAST :-)   However my friend couldn't resist the Caramalized Banana Crepes.   I follow a Paleo diet and they were very accommodating in making up a meal to suit my requirements. I enjoyed a plate of bacon, eggs, pumpkin and spinach.   The eggs were poached to perfection and the bacon crisped to a crunch. Our meal was nicely accompanied with a Latte and pot of Early Grey tea.   Definitely a nice place to go to read the weekend papers.

The food was satisfying and servings were good for a brunch! My mum and sister enjoyed their meals thoroughly too. The bonus was the amazing view from the outdoor seating, and great Spring weather this morning :-)
Take Me To Foodie Heaven
It is definitely worth a try and I highly recommend it. Not only for their food and service but also the atmosphere of alfresco dining by the East Perth waterfront. When we arrived, Toast was quite full as it was the peak hour lunch time but we were lucky to find ourselves a table. We placed our orders at the front counter after taking some time to analyze the menu and coming to a decision. I had the Eggs Norwegian ($18.50) and mum had the Full Breakfast ($22). Dad had the ham, swiss cheese, fresh basil, tomato, bush tomato and red pepper relish with

Toast was hidden somewhere behind the buildings on Royal Street. It was a hard search until we found a little cafe that caught our eyes as it was located on the river bank. This is a good place to relax by viewing ducks swimming in the river under the rising sun, having simple nice breakfast along with a cup of coffee.

Since moving to an inner city abode I think I’m in danger of developing a new addiction
Toast. No I don’t mean the standard wheaty squares of goodness I mean Toast, the cafĂ© in East Perth. ï»żÂ First up there’s the blissfully relaxed atmosphere and the Claisebrook view. A perfect place for some Me Time. Then the menu, a vast array of things you can put on toast. The vegetarian breakfast was huge. Two poached eggs, spinach, corn fritter, thick bread and the best tomatoes I’ve ever eaten. Honestly, I was stopped in my tracks and insisted that my friends try them, even though they thought I was mad, saying that a tomato is a tomato, but then they tried them. They too were shocked, so much so we had to ask how they were cooked. The answer

All in all I was very happy with our visit to Toast. One could not complain about the service which was efficient especially considering how busy they were. I often run past here on our long Saturday morning runs, it might be very hard to not stop next Saturday
.I like the idea of running to breakfast, eating and then running home, however, realistically I am not sure I would be able to motivate myself to get going after the breakfast interlude.
Food Near Me
I had the Rhubarb and Raspberry Compote Toasted Almond Crepes and the Beach Bear Juice ($7.50) which was made up of freshly squeezed Pineapple, Apple, Ginger and Mint. The juice was amazing! tangy, cold, and a ghoulish green colour it was the highlight of my meal. The crepes were great, again the rhubarb and raspberry was fresh and delicious, and the almonds added great texture.
Jemima Immink
My favourite is their spiced apple and ricotta on fig and walnut toast. Amazing. Though I have tried the crepes, the french toast, the bircher muesli and never been disappointed! Their fresh juices are pricey but delicious and hard to pass up and the coffee is better than many places around town.

I've been meaning to get to Toast for some time and we finally had the chance last weekend. They don't take bookings so there is often a wait on the weekends especially but we managed to grab a table inside just as a group left.

I personally prefer outdoor for the lovely cove view and requested for an outdoor table but got turned down. According to the waitress, all tables were occupied and would not be available soon. So we walked in to the table arranged by her. The table was very small (meant for two or three at most) and we were not comfortable and happy about it. So we shifted to the next table (square table for four) which was only available after we have sat down. My partner and I had a Norwegian eggs and a cheesey scrambled eggs with toasted rye. I have to agree with all the comments I received for Toast, the poached eggs were perfect and so were the scrambled eggs. We would come back again earlier next time to get nice seats outdoor.

I'll be back! Their sweet options are fabulous, I'll try the crepes next time which were a generous serving. I saw others' savoury meals and they didn't do too much for me, and I didn't find those options particularily inspiring either. I loved the casual, laid back summer vibe and decor.

Ahh Toast. I adore toast for 2 reasons:  For what it is - the snack food to line your stomach when you are starving in the moments right before your main meal is fully cooked (try Lawson's  traditional bread for its thick, fluffy centres!); AND, The Google search for "toast" which led me to discover TFP's site, which I have to thank for my less-than-desirable grades due to intensive studying of food porn rather than why the world economy is headed for doom . Oh, and the actual place? After reading many a reviews on why this is one of Perth's best breakfast places plus multiple visits to this peaceful breakfast haven located on the sunniest side of East Perth, I can see why Toast is not only a staple in the household but is also a staple in the online Blogosphere community. Blimey - $6.50 The drinks category is kind of a serious thing at Toast . With about 2 handfuls of choices of freshly squeezed, juiced and blended fresh fruit juices, these are the next perfect answer to a stinking h

I love the location, love the food and love the fact that on a sunny Autumn day I can sit outside with my dog at my feet, and really appreciate some great flavours that have me coming back time and time again.

I could have tried everything on this menu, from simplistic treats like banana and cinnamon sugar on toast to mascarpone, toasted almond and honey on banana bread. If you like vegemite there’s even avocado and vegemite on toast with a poached egg!

So this fine morning, we decided to go to Toast for breakfast, has anyone heard of this little cafe?... For those who live in Perth, and do want to go to this awesomely cute little thing its in East Perth, on Royal street, over looking Claisebrook cove (a truly calming site). The thing about Toast was that you need to know where to look to find it, that is its not really on Royal st, but if you walk down the stairs from Royal st and onto the cove area we found it by the mass of people that were sitting outside bathing in the spring sunlight. And a big crowd usually means that its good right? Yea thats what we thought too (: But really, it was adorable- the staff were friendly (and awesomely dressed ^^), the coffee was absolutely divine (!!!) and the food was...unique... to say the least, unique and pretty damn tasty too. What was also cute about the place was that it looked like someone had gone to the Paris flee market, bought a whole heap of shit (posters, cups, books, empty Ricard b

You can’t beat the quality and value offered from Toast and it’s a well-known popular cafe in Perth. Plus if you can’t make it there for breakfast or you have cravings for breakfast food past midday, you can rely on Toast to serve you up an all day breakfast that hits the mark every time.

Toast is a lovely spot to enjoy breakfast...There’s certainly good food, but it’s probably too expensive to make this a regular thing.

I like breakfast at Toast, it's usually fresh and good quality. Unfortunately, I found my breakfast a bit salty a quarter of the way through, otherwise it was pretty yummy.

Toast in East Perth is a long-standing favourite of mine – we have been coming here on a regular basis for well over 4-5 years. It is conveniently located on my route around the river at the picturesque Claisebrook Cove. The sheltered location makes the most of the rising sun and protects the outdoor seating area from any wind meaning that nearly year round (excluding rainy days) the weather feels perfect.

the service (from what I saw) was good, it was obviously popular as there were rarely tables free! Our food was good and there was plenty of choice, you can come here for breakfast for weeks and still have something new to try!

Toast has a wide variety of food available on the menu and very popular with the locals. It is located in East Perth overlooking the water, great ambience.

Toast is a place you go to for a relaxed atmosphere with a view of the ‘canal’ in East Perth, lots of dining space under the umbrella or in the scorching sun. It is super packed in the early morning however if you like a late Breakfast that is not a problem at Toast as its Breakfast all day!

I LOVED IT! I knew I couldn't go wrong with water melon and orange but the hint of basil really made it unique. It was very refreshing
Thekitchencrusader
The food was great... poached eggs were done well (which is always a good sign) . The flavour combinations were a little inventive, but well thought-out.... which, in my humble opinion is the best of both worlds...
Why Yes I Do Eat Constantly
Kylie & I hit 'Toast', a cute breakfast spot in the middle of exam week on a sunny, blue-skied spring morning. We've have had many good times together this year, mostly which involved one of us being drunk, and mostly of which the drunk one was me.

The first thing I noticed about Toast was how nice and chirpy the staff was. To save our table, my friend and I took turns ordering and both were pleasantly surprised with the service. There was a staff taking / putting orders through to the kitchen and another making coffee. As we were waiting to order our food, the staff making the coffee took our coffee orders and just as I've sat back down my latte $3.80 was served. corn fritters, toast ◄ Back Next â–ș Picture 1 of 4 The

Toast has been popular among breakfast groups and food bloggers in Perth. I have been dying to go Toast for awhile now, but I did not get a chance to do so until last week when Xin Ling's dad was here! So on his last day here I brought him, Jh's dad and Xin Ling there. While we didn't know whether the place was going to be superb or not, the energetic and friendly staff helped me to a good start! Breakfast menu was aplenty with some special dishes and of course, the usual brekkie food. To help kick start the morning (although it was already 11), darling and I ordered a hot choc each, while the two uncles had their cappuccino. Slurps! The hot choc was super chocolaty with a nice touch of art on the froth! It was yummy although I would have liked it to be more milky!! While I would not usually fork out 20 dollars on a meal of vegetables, James St. Cafe changed my mind. I decided to go for the Vegan full breakfast. 2 Poached eggs, toast, stuffed mushrooms and a corn cake was all this plai

This time, under local Perth-ians' recommendations, Pete and I decide to skip the buffet breakfast in the hotel and walk all the way to East Perth for TOAST , and of course we found this cute cafe serves more than just that. But first, we have to locate the cafe. For outsiders like us two, locating this cafe can be bit tricky. We rely on the google map on the iphone to direct us there, but somehow it points us to another cafe in the area instead. The darkened sky and threatened rain just made the hunt lot more frustrating. We have to ask the other cafe for help and they are kind enough to give us direction where it is, we follow a fleet of stairs to the waterfront, and bingo! Toast is just tucked away on the ground floor in an apartment block. But by then, both of us are already drenched, cursing the food and coffee here better be good to make the trip worthwhile. What I love about this cafe is the decor, old mismatched tables and vinyl dining chairs, coffee served in retro 70s dip-gla
