Great setting...nice warm tones to get you in a relaxed mood ready for an onslaught of taste bud madness.
Waitress was great didn't even know she was there most of the time.
Had some tapas to start...the Soft-Shell Crab didn't get a claw in, it disappeared in seconds yum.
The trio cheese was a stinker...needs alot of work...or just get rid of it.
Then came the mains...
I had the pork belly and it was absolutely mouthwatering... after the first mouthful I totally forgot about the cheese dish...thank god!!
My partner had the Grilled Marinated Chicken Breast. She didn't speak for ages...which confirmed she was in poultry paradise...luckily enough I was able to get a taste...divine.
By this point we were flying in the culinary clouds ready to crash land for dessert.
Destination...House Made Sticky Date Pudding.
We decided to share it...bad move... the butterscotch raspberry coulis made this dish SING!! It was that good if it weren't my partner sitting next to me I would have definitely commenced a hostile takeover!!
Bottom line... left there wanting more... definitely worth a drive to the city for.

The food was lovely from Tapas to Mains. I highly recommend the watermelon tapas and the Tikka skewers. The pork belly is divine as well.
The service was fantastic and very attentive.
My only criticism is the wine is fairly expensive for the choices they had.
We will definitely be returning.

I had my birthday celebration dinner here last night with 15 of my friends and the whole experience was amazing! The food, the customer service, the decor and the ambience were all faultless. I had the salmon from the "specials" and I can honestly say that it was one of the best meals I have ever had! The only thing to fault was the entry door that remained ajar whenever someone entered the restaurant and on a cold night like last night, the chill wind that came in was not welcome! I will definitely be back and will recommend The Painted Bird, as will my friends who were with me!
This is a must if ever in the City and need to dine at a fabbie restaurant.

Had lunch there with a friend yesterday. The chicken sliders and beetroot salad were lovely. She raved about the drunken chicken which looked delicious. Service was good even though they were busy. I’ll definitely go back!

Came here a couple of times before and this time around we tried their dinner instead of lunch. We ordered the chorizo and soft shell crab to start with. The chorizo is really tasty and the Turkish bread compliments it well. Soft shell crab is a little bit soggy but still tasted fresh. The fish of the day was really nicely cooked and the winner dish for the night has to be the sirloin steak. The meat was very tender and cooked perfectly how we asked them to be, we will come back for their steak for sure!

Service was friendly and the venue has good ambiance. The food is tasty with classic mod aus dishes available. The bird tasting plate was something you could probably whip up yourself if you have a decent local deli. I'd probably give it another go given the first visit was more impressive than the last.

Valentine's day dinner! I loved the ambience and it was so romantic:) the staff were absolutely lovely but the service was a bit slow. 8$ for a small piece of bruschetta seemed a bit too steep. The quinoa and chickpea salad was great. I would encourage the management to add more veggie options on their menu!

The location is a bit hidden but it makes more privacy kind of sensation. The wait staffs are friendly and fun. Foods are good enough as I ordered a common pasta. This place is good for hang out and relax with friends and dont forget your cocktails 🍹
Had a vegetarian penne but added chicken to it. Very good flavours and cooked just the way it should be. I was hungry on that day and I could easy eat 2 servings as they a bit small. They not cheap so I only eat one but enjoy it all the same.

Overall a very decent atmosphere, the service was quick and friendly. The salmon was a little dry but was edible, overall I probably this would not be my to go to place, but definitely has a very relaxed environment if your looking for a nice place to just socialise.

Had a very lovely dinner tonight with a friend with lots of laughs, good food and drinks.
Stumbled across this restaurant for dinner, there were only 2 other tables that were occupied so we were dubious initially. Greeted without a smile but our two other waitstaff afterwards were pleasant. Meals were a reasonable size and tasty so that's always a plus. Overall, a good experience.

Well, I was expecting the 'Painted Bird' dish of duck leg wrapped in puff pastry to be amazing, and it was, but there were so many other things that made this a great experience.
For starters, we got falafel for free at the beginning (is this normal? even if it isn't it's still great) and chocolate ganache for free at the end. I know both of these things are pretty easy to make but still, they were free! The service was super prompt and they timed it so that everyone would get their dishes simultaneously. I know that's a given at most places, but I'm usually disappointed and I wasn't this time!
ALSO THE MACARONI CHEESE IS NEXT LEVEL. Seriously.
The dishes here are generous and super well cooked, and honestly I would eat anything on the menu here because it's as if it's just made for me!
First time coming here last night. Made the booking on dimmi and confirmation call by the restaurant. Love the place. Started with some wine and once we put our orders in, out came some complimentary pork truffle dish (I don't know the name or what it's called), but it is delicious! Love the chorizo romescu sauce, linguine, duck and ravioli. The mac and cheese is so good. It had the little crumbs on top and just puts an extra texture in there. Wasn't too big on the panko crumbed oysters, it tasted a little too fishy for me. But I'm not a big fan of oysters.
By the end of the night we were so full and satisfied and they brought out chef made marshmallows. I would definitely give this place another go. Yum.

Went here in a sat night for a friends birthday, atmosphere was good , staff were amazing. Complementary tasting plate from the staff, food was excellent, good menu and reasonably priced. Good cocktails and the price of the wine wasn't ridiculous either! They even wrote Happy Birthday on my friends dessert. Highly recommend

I love a mid week dinner - by Wednesday I am usually keen to try a new venue and enjoy some quality time with Mr Big. When Dimmi released a 50% off voucher for The Painted Bird I knew it was the perfect opportunity to make the most of both. I had heard some pretty good things about the food here so I have to admit I was excited to check it out. The restaurant itself is quite dim and the perfect setting for date night, giving a sense of intimacy. It only took a quick look at the menu to decide what we wanted - there are some great options depending on what you feel like.
Excellent food and very friendly service. The signature dish - duck confit was glorious. My friends indicated their dishes were equally delicious and we were a frothing for the complimentary pumpkin croquettes.

We came here for a family dinner and all 4 of us loved it! Every dish was fantastic! We had the painted bird, crab linguine, salmon and the fish apecial, which was an amazing king fish. Entrées were also delicious, the house smoked trout and eggplant dip the highlights for us. Service was lovely and I just couldn't recommend this place highly enough. Will definitely be back, especially to try the desert, which sounded fantastic.
Mains are delicious, had the salmon and gnocci and tried the Painted Bird duck as well. Starters not all that impressive unfortunately.
Service was a little slow but definitely worth a visit!

Dined here for the first time last night. First impressions were great - a small bar tucked away in the CBD, large enough to host 15-20 tables yet too small to welcome a rabble of drunks.
We started with cocktails (as you do). I was fairly desperate to try something from the list and so our waitress offered to tone down my choice -- balsamic smashed strawberry cocktail -- as I was designated driver. The drink was much taller than expected and although the alcohol was reduced, it was still tasty without being potent. Bravo to the barman for being willing to offer this alternative.
Nibbles came in the form of complimentary cheese croquettes - pretty sensational kickstarter. Unfortunately the sourdough bread and tahini dip let things down a fraction, being just regular white loaf and a fairly tasteless dip. Warm olives were nice but not filled with the flavour of garlic, citrus, chilli + cumin as promised.
For mains, I ordered an entrée-sized pumpkin, sage and ricotta ravioli and OMG! where had this been all my life! Around 4 giant raviolis filled with mashed pumpkin sage and ricotta, stacked on each other and sitting in a pool of brown butter and sprinkled with pinenuts and parmesan. Simply divine and surely the work of the devil.
Dinner Friend #1 had the double-baked cheese soufflé (a bit expensive at around $30) which she ordered on her maiden trip here earlier this year and couldn't resist having again. Rich, well-made and oozing with cheese, it was served with a simple side salad of rocket walnut pear and beetroot.
Dinner Friend #2 had the Wagyu beef carpaccio with truffled potato dressing, pear and rocket salad & crostini - again, well-made, well-presented and a delightfully light dish with delicate flavours that were a little thrown by a strong mustard dressing.
Onto desserts and we ordered two -- soft chocolate, milk ice cream, salted caramel, maple biscuit ($15), and thyme crème brûlée, pumpkin ice cream and brioche doughnuts ($15). Both were nice enough but neither of them hit the spot entirely. The individual elements of the brulee were interesting but the flavours combined just didn't work for us. The chocolate dish had so much promise too but also failed to deliver... an abundance of soft chocolate (reminded me of Yogo only it wasn't cold), not enough salted caramel crumbs. Coffee was nice though.
A final (complimentary) touch was a plate of green tea and jasmine soft meringues - odd flavour and more of a palate cleanser than anything else. Two complimentary plates in the one meal is almost unheard of so Painted Bird wins big bonus points for that.
Our meal was 50% off food only, as part of a Dimmi online booking offer. The bill came to $108 so we were happy. Not sure if I'd have been just as happy to pay full price.
Painted Bird claims to be very accommodating towards customers with dietary requirements, particularly coeliacs and the restaurant is a member of Coeliacs WA. I love a restaurant that goes the extra mile to look after people with allergies and although we didn't need to call on that talent this time, I'm going to take 2 coeliacs on my next trip and really test them out :))
We went here for a work Christmas Dinner (16 ppl). The staff were friendly and helpful.
The main meals were lovely, though the desserts seemed to be a little hit and miss. We had a set menu so only had an option of 4 of the dessert items.
Overall though, I do recommend for Vibe, food and friendly staff.
Tucked away in a corner I keep on forgetting that the painted bird exists.
I only came in for a coffee which ok but not worth the price.

Wow. Just Wow. The food here was absolutely amazing, this very clever chef sure knows his way around flavour combinations. Special mention to the Beef Carpaccio and Pork Belly with Scallops. Teamed with excellent service this was a really memorable Anniversary dinner. Definitely be back!

The Painted Bird is a great choice for a business lunch and we started off with a selection of 4 dishes from the charcuterie section for just $18. The sourdough bread was delicious smothered with chicken liver parfait, the px syrup and raisins adding that sweet touch to offset the richness. I also liked the pork terrine which wasn’t too intense in flavour and balanced by the piccalilli, a relish. The chorizo was crunchy and had a less intense spicy flavour but other flavours shone through, and who doesn’t like indulging in some priscuitto. Along with our mains we enjoyed some broccolini that needed a little more cooking for my liking but it was paired with garlic butter and a crunchy pangrattato crumb. The smashed potatoes still held their shape despite being tender and the slight oiliness from the chimmichurri made it very yummy. As for my salmon, it was absolutely delicious! Perfectly cooked, tender, succulent, moist with a crisp skin, it was enjoyed with amazing parcels of gnocchi that were an absolute standout. Another excellent dining experience.
Love this place! Food is incredible, service is wonderful, and they always seem to give out complimentary entrees/starters. Menu prices are reasonable too! So many things I wanna try on the menu, will definitely have to come back

Went here last night for the 2nd time, the atmosphere and ambience is very lovely, was fairly busy for a Friday night but not enough to ruin the vibe of the place, service is quick and friendly and the food was good. Entree we shared the panko oysters with seaweed and miso Mayo, all of that in one mouthful was too seafoody for me, just the oyster and mayo was nice, very different to what I've had, not sure I would get it again and I didn't think the texture on crumbs with oyster was for me.
Main I had the signature dish "the painted bird" a duck leg wrapped in puff pastry with mash potato, truffle oil and a red wine jus. As like last time - amazing. Beautiful texture and great flavours and the mash was so creamy and delicious I would love more, only 1 issue was I found a small bit of plastic container in the mash, I did tell the waitress and she apologised and gave us a free dessert, my girlfriend had the lamb shoulder special with chickpeas and Moroccan eggplant salad, I had a taste and it had very beautiful flavours and made me feel warm inside. For dessert we shared the panna cotta with lemoncello and raspberry sorbet, flavours were great and a nice dessert to share. Overall a great night with beautiful food. The complimentary snacks the five you upon arriving and leaving are also fantastic!

Waitresses checked our beverages for top ups throughout the night. We had a great night. Modern Australian food & dining experience we will come back.
My boyfriend and I came here on one of our first dates about a year ago. It was a lovely dining experience, nice vibe, amazing food and great service. We came back a week or so ago and it was exactly the same, still wonderful.

I came down on a Wednesday night for a catch up with a friend and we both loved the atmosphere. I find it really hard these days to be able to have a conversation without shouting at each other or asking to repeat because the music is too loud... The Painted Bird is not like that. The setting is beautiful and classy, the lights are dimmed and the background music adds on to the relaxing ambiance.
The service was excellent, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive! Our water was regularly topped up and we were well looked after.
We decided to share the cauliflower, pumpkin, dukkah salad with homemade ricotta as an entree and regretted it as it was so tasty we wished we had ordered one each. I had the pumpkin sage ravioli for main, which is a great option for vegetarian and my friend had the lamb. We were both satisfied with our dishes and looked forward to have a peek at the dessert menu. It was really hard to choose as everything sounded great and we decided to share the chocolate and hazelnut pudding with peanut butter icecream (highlight of the night!) and the spanish apple cake with calvados sauce and brown butter icecream.
The desserts did not disappoint and we left The Painted Bird with a big smile on our face and possibly an undone button at the waist...
I was lucky enough to try a sample of the new takeaway menu from The Painted Bird and it was very impressive! I recommend ordering in a group and having a try of it all. In order of favourites; homemade gnocchi with osso bucco, rigatoni with chicken and chorizo, pulled pork quesadilla, Rueben sandwich, mushroom macaroni, veg toastie. Everyone was impressed with the quality and the toasted sandwiches stayed nice and crunchy on the outside even though all wrapped up. Great idea for office lunch and even takeaway for dinner. Big serves and price average $16.50
As soon as I saw the email that The Painted Bird Bar & Kitchen was having a Dimmi deal for 50% off the total bill last week, I made a reservation for the night and got little marshmallow to come along with me. . The Painted Bird has a real elegant vibe to it and the restaurant was set out really nicely.
Positive: ravioli, papata bravas and macaroni cheese was perfect
Negative: disappointed on how the polenta was served. It's not a restaurant standard and too tiny. Taste was average.
Went for dinner on a Saturday day night and the place was pretty busy and right from the start the service was sublime! I had the beef checks which were so tender accompanied by a risotto which was soo good! Everything about this place is amazing :)
Tucked away in Wesley Arcade in the CBD, the Painted Bird has a modern, relaxed vibe and it was pleasant sitting out in the front courtyard for some pre-dinner drinks under the warmth of a heater. Inside the cool vibe continued, and our group of eight gals anticipated an evening of excellent food, wine and conversation.There was a good selection of wine by the glass, but unfortunately one of those glasses of red ended up being poured down the back of one of my friends when the waitress stumbled with her tray of drinks. It had to be red wine didn’t it? Murphy’s Law. The restaurant did agree to pay the dry cleaning bill, so fingers crossed her clothes can weather the mishap.
Great food, service and value. Visited Painted Bird during the week for lunch and had the Lunch Special which is two courses for $30.

We had Painted Bird platter as starter and then three way beef and Salmon for mains. All the dishes were very tasty. And then we had panna cotta and brulee for dessert. It was outstanding. Would recommend this restaurant to all food-lovers.

Wine list good. Only negative- our waitress not having a clue how to use a corkscrew to open a bottle of red wine and not really having any idea of what was on the menu. Spectacular!. Superb foods! Hubby ordered the 3 ways beef an he was very satisfied with the taste, texture and the chef nailed each component well. My chef's special - papardelle with mixed mushrooms, beef ragu and topped with a pan fried duck egg was one impeccable dish! The fresh pasta was soft and cooked to perfection and I couldn't stop myself from chopping down the dish. We finished off with a shared dessert - nougat gelato, brioche doughnut and rhubarb compote! Cold, sweet, sour ...one word delish! We spent a total of $83 for all the above (without drinks). It wasn't a cheap dinner but no doubt the foods quality and servings are good.

Great food, expensive price tag. We came here on a weekday for lunch and considering we ordered 3 mains for 2 people the food came out quite quickly. The salmon and squid ink risotto was great, the flavours combination worked so well. The gnocchi and osso bucco was super filling, there was heaps on the plate and we could barely finish the whole thing. Although the "Painted bird" - the confit duck leg was their signature dish, it was a massive let down as it was dry and very salty. The brulee was amazing though, and the kitchen was thoughtful to add "Happy Anniversary" on the plate as we mentioned it was our anniversary on the booking. All in all the meal was great but this wouldn't be an everyday lunch place for me.
Awesome seafood. Found the most amazing twist on fresh oysters from Smokey Bay - served with chilli lime sorbet, oh wow! They were possibly the best I have ever eaten and the chilli was exactly to my taste. Followed that with seafood linguine (can you tell i love seafood?) which had the most amazing crunch to it. I was in heaven. Then I had maple creme brûlée with bacon ice cream (can you believe it?) and peanut friande. Life cannot get any better.
Love The Food. We had a work Christmas in July party and had a set menu, every meal was amazing. Every person just went on how great the food was. A week later a went back for the gnocchi with ozzo bucco sauce and truffle oil I had been dreaming about it since I had looked at the menu the previous time. It was just as wonderful as I had envisaged. Love this place and recommend it to everyone.

One word - Sublime!. The Painted Bird has to be one of the most joyous dining experiences I've had in Perth. Friendly staff and amazing food. The desert menu was a surprise - Creme Brulee with Bacon Ice Cream - absolutely delicious. Upon paying I felt satisfied that the cost was worth the quality!

A great spot in the heart of the city. Together with 7 other female friends, I dined here early January on a Friday evening. We found the service to be of a very high standard. They were attentive to our needs (one lactose intolerant diner amongst us) and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The place was very busy and despite being a largish group we were not forgotten. I'd happily return for a date night with hubby!
Very nice meal here the other night - our vegan friends were happily catered for (although they had rung ahead) espresso martins were a great start. We headed out afterwards so asked for quick service - which it was. Friendly, good food, nice looking place.
Just had the $30 express lunch (chefs entree taste plate and a large main) and I'm impressed...with every aspect. The staff- friendly and interested. The setting- laid back cocktail. The food- taste plate followed by pumpkin ravioli = very well worth it's 98% like rating.
I really hope this place can continue to deliver. Yes, I shall return with crew in tow.
Best meal and service ever. Cant speak too highly of the lovely young staff, the service they gave our table on Christmas Eve and the food - it was amazing, thank you chef. The spanner crab risotto, the duck dish, the pork belly plate and the ribs were all standouts and the desserts were amazing too. Loved the touches you added at no charge - the complimentary starter and macaroons at the end. For special occasion food that is wonderful but not overworked and a fun relaxed atmosphere this is the place. Cant wait to go back there.
Had dinner here on a busy Friday night. Food was excellent, service attentive. The kitchen didn't send out all of our meals at the same time which was the only fault I could find with the place! Recommend!
Amazing flavours! The express lunch was incredible value, a tasting plate and main for $29! Blown away by the pumpkin ravioli. Definitely one to come back for.

Pie-eyed. I was intoxicated by the taste sensations served up at The Painted Bird last night. The venue, as its name suggests is not fancy, with serviceable tables without table cloths and a very "kitchen" atmosphere. But the food was excellent and the staff cordial and attentive without being over the top. The chef's special of the day Canapé Tasting Plate was my entrée - consisting of Broccoli & Almond Soup With White Truffle Oil; House Smoked Salmon, Fennel, Orange & Beetroot; Tempura Oyster. Vietnamese Dressing; and Jamon & Manchego Croquette and the main an interesting Duck "Pie" which unbeknown to me at the time was the chef's signature dish of duck leg confit, ‘painted’ with mustard and orange, and wrapped in puff pastry. It was indeed simply delicious, and enough to make me pie eyed without any contribution from alcohol. An extra bonus was the complimentary cheesy puff as an appetiser, and the similarly complimentary Tahitian lime macaroon to conclude. All in all an excellent night, and very reasonably priced.

This new Perth restaurant has it all! The cosy atmosphere, the friendly service, the outstanding menu (I was torn between so many tempting choices) and the ablsolute melt-in-the-mouth deliciousness of my pan-fried potato gnocchi with pork, lamb & veal ragu made this my favourite dining experience to date. I can't wait to return to try more. The chef's balance between new-concepts and comfort-food made for a table of very happy diners! The double baked goat's cheese souffle, squid link linguini with spanner crab and the lemon tart (actually, all the desserts) were just some of the dishes that had the rest of my table raving. Thanks Painted Bird, I cannot recommend you highly enough and will definately be back soon!

Had the pleasure of visiting this beautifully appointed newnew restaurant and cannot rate it high enough! Friendly, attentive staff and food to die for. The most delicious pate, succulent scallops perfectly seared and lemon donuts - I'm still dreaming of them all! Will definitely be back :-)
Perth's hidden gem. I ate here for the first time on Friday evening. I was spoilt for choice and was torn between a number of appealing dishes. Eventually I plumped for the steak served with potato rosti and oxtail croquette. I wasn't disappointed. The steak was perfectly cooked and melted in the mouth. The rosti gave a satisfying crunch and the croquette was a revelation. The chef is clearly keen on bringing a new twist to some classic dishes and ingredients. It really works. Other dishes selected by our party were lamb with beetroot risotto and a pork tasting plate with the meat served four ways. Everyone was impressed with their food. It's worth also mentioning that the service was exemplary - attentive without being intrusive, well informed and enthusiastic. Anyone familiar with Perth dining will know this to be a rarity! The Painted Bird is the latest hidden gem in Perth's CBD - but on this form surely won't be hidden for long.
Another delicious lunch at The Painted Bird which was even better than last time. Loved the Panko crumbed oysters and the maple creme brulee with bacon ice cream. Recommend.
The Painted Bird offers a solid selection of dishes with lots of choice to suit your tastes. I really enjoyed the selection of dishes, the quality and flavours of the meals, the ambiance, setting, and lovely service. Large serving size for mains, had to skip dessert!
