Wow wow wow. Amazing food! You're from England this is the closest to a chow mein you will get. Christina is amazing, happy hours are amazing, food is amazing and overall great experience .

Yaay Japanese food. So nice. The service was friendly, food fresh and tasty. She even told us the best way to eat the wasabi! Very clean and reasonably priced. Great Bao buns.

Excellent value for money. We had the salmon Bento and soft shell crab. Couldnt flaw it. $12 breakfast was also great value. Would come back to the Great Southern Hotel simply because of the price and the food.

Here's some of must eats at Restaurant 1903. Friendly service and prompt food delivery. Make sure to ask the owner what's good to order on the day! Their Takoyaki is excellent and the Japanese cheesecake is authentic (straight from Hokkaido).

A cozy restaurant with friendly service. Took the time to explain to my kids about the toppings on the tasty Takoyaki. We had the soft shell crab, katsu & karagae bento. Thumbs up! Don’t forget to try their Hokkaido cheese cake & salted caramel with hazelnut ice cream. Strongly recommend. Will definitely be back again. Thank you aunty for the wonderful experience.

This place is a hidden gem. The food is amazing which is only made better with the lovely and kind service provided with it. My only concern for this amazing place is it is hard to find car parking, but to be honest is definitely the worth the walk if you don’t find a space close by.

What a lovely evening we had with our hosts Christine & Anthony!! The meal was so tasty & it was great having Christine to guide us through the menu so that we had a wide array of different meals to enjoy between the 4 of us. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. PS. They have "happy hour" between 5.30 - 6.30 pm, so you can enjoy a pre dinner before the meal too.

Great friendly staff, delicious food, highly recommend. A little gem tucked away in the lobby of the Great Southern hotel. Food was reasonably priced and very tasty. Our fav dishes were the karaage chicken and the soft shell crab. We will definitely be going back.

Great quality food and large portion sizes. Restaurant owner is so lovely.. chatted with us over the night and gave us honest opinions on meal choices which we really appreciated will be back!!

We ate here twice over our stay at The Great Southern Hotel. The food was great, excellent service. One of the ladies came over and explained what the different foods were as we were unfamilair with the cuisine. Both times the food didn't take long to arrive, staff were friendly and helpful and reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend.

Me and my friend dined at restaurant 1903 today using a Groupon, the food was awesome and the service just as good. The manager was very inviting and friendly, engaging very well with my 1 1/2 yr old daughter. We had entrees, bentos and dessert and were all very fresh and tasty . Will definitely be back at some point .

A sensational little restaurant! Amazing food, exceptional service and loads of vegan options! Christina (owner/manager) went out of her way to custom select a three course vegan menu for two of our group. It was incredible! I will be going back for sure

Friends had a voucher which made it exceptional value but even without that the prices were reasonable. Delightful wait staff and fabulous food. The warmth of the staff made us feel like we'd been patrons for years. Our party were in total agreement that we couldn't fault the meal or service, Our standouts were the Miso Soup and the chicken satay sticks, the bento boxes were superb and the chilli basil fish delicious.

Would highly recommend. Delicious food and friendly accommodating staff. The family and I had a great night out. Thanks

Bunch of friends and I bought a Groupon deal for this place and it was great. Friendly staff and amazing service. Food was great too. Definitely will be coming back, especially when we have a deal for a 3 course meal. :D

Great food, lovely place and very friendly staff! Thank you for looking after us and our children especially little ones, we all had a great time! We ordered 6 different entree plates and 6 mains, we liked them all: sashimi, sushi, udon, chicken sticks, miso soups, eel with rice... - very fresh and delicious! The cakes were amazing! Thank you!

Bought a living social voucher 3 course meal for 2 people. Went with my friend today for lunch. We arrived a bit early but there was no problem as we were greeted by the owner Anthony and was served straight away. The owners are very friendly and goes around the table to converse with the customers. Food arrived very quickly and were great, an honest simple Japanese food. We will surely be back again. Thank you
Japanese food...simple, light and delicious. Every bite we had was fabulous... from the soft shell crab entree (yummm) to the pork dumplings (a must!!)...to the hearty mains ...and the GORGEOUS desserts of japanese cheesecake, green tea ice cream and sesame ice cream. Super happy belly.

I love the host here... she gave me a great deal (private msg her on facebk page for a deal), excellent conversation and quick service. This place is great and perfect for group catchups!

We had a voucher. Had 2 entrees, Goyza, and softshell crab. Really nice. Main we have terriyaki beef and chicken bento. The beef one was really yummy. We had black sesame icecream which was yummy too. Very good value with the voucher. Would recommend.

Reading reviews we were a bit hesitant however purchased a coupon. So very glad we did. We had the chicken satay sticks for entree and then the Sweet and Sour Fish and Chicken Katsu Curry. Finished off with Japanese Cheesecake. All the food was so very good and fresh and light. So flavorsome. Staff were very friendly and food came out quite quickly. We will definitely go back even with out voucher.

You cannot fault the service at this restaurant. Our waitress was incredibly welcoming and very flexible with my "no plastic straw" request (she was very intrigued by my reusable bamboo straw and we ended up having a lovely conversation about the impact of single-use plastic). My family ordered bento boxes, sushi, takoyaki and dessert for lunch. We were very impressed with the food - it was authentic and delicious (**do not leave without ordering their delectable Japanese cheesecakes!). Unfortunately they aren't conveniently located in the heart of the CBD/Northbridge but you must definitely check this place out if you want excellent service and inexpensive quality Japanese food. We will be back very soon :)

Food poisoning. Ended up in hospital after specific cooking instructions. Extremely disappointed. Hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else. Allergy notes were added to order and clearly ignored.

We went last night on a coupon, cost $39 for two. The atmosphere and decor is not great, but the food and service was great. We had a glass of wine each, shared entree of Potato Croquettes, then main courses of Deluxe Bento set with Tofu (with rice and miso soup), Beef in Butter Pepper Sauce (with rice), then desserts of Black Sesame Ice Cream and Chocolate Mud cake. All this for $39! The portions were quite generous and delicious. Really good value I thought.

A really lovely little spot - a pity about the terrible location and the vacant feeling hotel which wasn't terribly inviting but the staff were really welcoming. I came on a voucher and was very pleasantly surprised - the food was very authentic and well made although this means it won't suit everyone's taste especially if you're accustomed to Westernised Japanese.

We had edamame, miso soup, teriyaki tofu, a chicken katsu burger and a beef yaki udon. Edamamde was generous and the miso soup was probably the tastiest I have had anywhere, the stock was lovely. The tofu was crispy and delicious, the burger was huge, juicy and perfectly cooked with very fresh salad and lots of beer battered fries. The yaki udon wasn't to my taste but the sauce was a good balance of salty and sweet and an authentic flavour with perfectly al dente noodles and tender beef. Our black sesame ice cream was delicious and service was very friendly and helpful, not at all pushy or weird and she talked me through when I couldn't decide. I really liked it here and will be back to try other dishes.

I got chatting to the owner Christine and she is also supporting a poor girl with a devastating illness by fundraising - you can ask for the Annabelle special and only pay $25 for a 3 course meal with wine! 50% of proceeds go to the girl but I challenge you to find a better deal. The details are on their Facebook page. Makes me like them even more :)

Ordered 1903 on uber eats and have had it in the past with no problems - prawn dumplings and gyoza were nice however the beef donburi was inedible I had one bite of the beef and threw all of it in the bin. It had a rubbery plastic look and taste to it - not like any beef I've seen before ! Disappointing

Saw the voucher on scoupon and almost didn't go because of the negative reviews here on Zomato, decided to try it anyways as reviews on TripAdvisor were saying the complete opposite of reviews here.

Absolutely glad we went! Service was excellent, the lady was very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious, the soft shell crab was crispy as heck and my partner said his chicken yakitori was A+ too. We ended up going for bentos and again they were great, we had to take a bit of a break before dessert though because of how much food there was.

All in all a great experience, we'd go back even when it's not on scoupon anymore.

A place like this wouldn't survive if it wasn't for the hotel keeping them afloat.

Used A Scoopon deal so I'm not sure if they give bad food to cheap deals only or not but I definitely won't be going back for a second visit.

Soft shell crab bento was severely disappointing. Wasn't crunchy at all. The portion of rice was about the size of my palm and was definitely not fresh or at least same day batch. The amount of food was barely enough.

I wouldn't recommend anyone from going there and feel sorry for the hotel guests for having to eat there out of necessity since the room probably comes with "free breakfast". The only thing worse that could have happened is if we were to get food poisoning afterwards, but that hasn't happened...yet...fingers crossed.

We had bought scoopon deal for $35 which is actually $70 worth. We ordered 2 entrees and bento box and tempura udon. Everything from presentation, portion and service were consistently bad. The pork gyoza was not freshly made, not crispy at all and very doughy. The bento box which cost $23 was the smallest bento box i've ever had. Everything in the bento was not freshly made, the rice was hard and chewy. Everytime ive ordered bento, the bento box was filled to the brim not at this place. Everything in the bento would probably fill up the smallest takeaway container. The tempura udon was in a very small bowl and the tempura was not on a separate plate, instead they added the prawn tempura to the soup so it was soggy when it came out. We ordered $70 worth of food including the entree and drinks expecting we would be very full but we were nowhere full. On top of that the waiter gave us attitude when we asked for refill for our drinks. It was one of the worst experience ive had in any restaurant. I never leave reviews but this restaurant was just so bad i had to. Everything was not freshly made. Im not sure if it was because we used scoopon deal so they gave us shitty food or the place is just bad in general. Ive seen other people's reviews and they were not that bad. Im wondering what went wrong.

We went tonight and ur dinner was very good . Service very fast and friendly waitress. The price is normal. Sure we will back thank you for your service

My partner and I went and had the best experience. The staff were so friendly and were chatting away to us like we were olf driends. The food came out quickly and was delicious. The portions are very good and we came out very full. We both walked out of here with a smile on our face and that has never happened to me before. Thankyou very much, will be back soon

Purchased a groupon voucher for a 3 course meal with a glass of wine for two ($39) for Resteraunt 1903. On arrival the staff were delightful and chatty, and the resteraunt was busy. Our food proceeded to arrive, one entree and one main course, where was the other entree (sushi)? It arrived half an hour later when all main meals were finished. Food did not taste good, and was not fresh. To be honest, a takeaway at a shopping centre would of been tastier, and better value for money. I would not pay full price for this meal. Only giving a 1.5 for staff friendliness.

Went their on a voucher deal for Burger, fries n beer. Fries were yummy nice n crunchy but burger was a let down, cheap patty that tasted a bit artificial. Nice n roomy but customer service was a bit average. So so! Probably wouldn't go back unless they change their cheap burger patty as we only went there bcoz It was on a voucher deal so cant complain to much as it was a fairly cheap deal.

Great staff, awesome food and a family friendly environment. The location was a little confusing as its inside a hotel but other then that no complaints! They give you decent wasabi with the sushi and the sushi itself is awesome. Defiantly going back next time I'm in that area.

The two of us went there for the Groupon deal, $39 for a three course meal with wine for two. The key draw is definitely the generosity, with big token items such as soft shell crab(!) and calamari rings up for grabs as part of the deal. The mains were nice; I had the unagi, and she had tempura prawn. Both were fresh, and came with takoyaki, two kinds of salad (seaweed and lettuce), and sushi, which was meh. The cake was a disappointment. The crumb was a tad dry and the cream was rather buttery, but all in all it's a value for money deal you'd be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. Plus, you can still call them until the end of October to get the deal, and we'll likely be going back at least one more time.

We bought the Groupon deal for gourmet burgers, chips and beer for 2 people. We dined in and brought our 8 month son with us. The service was outstanding! They custom made a child's dish based on what our son likes. They allowed us to trade in a beer for a wine instead, no extra cost and we chose whatever wine we wanted. I also had there happy hour beer with is a choice of 3 different beers ($5 for a lager, pale ale and Japanese beer) pay $6 you can make it a pint. The food was really good, I wouldn't say the best I've had but value and quality, most definitely worth it. The server didn't overwhelm us by being at our side the whole time but was around enough to take care of our needs. We are going back to try the 3 course meal (2 for $39) which they told us we can do without using Groupon. I would recommend trying this place out.

Ordered the 40 piece sushi platter and was very pleased, fresh and tasty and good variety. Great service and friendly staff. Hope to be dining there in the near future to try more of the menu.

This is a fairly new restaurant opened within the Great Southern Hotel in Northbridge. The food are a mix of Japanese, Chinese and Western and owners are from Singapore. We ordered Japanese and the food is pretty average for the price.

Not bad with a Groupon voucher. Definitely worth the value! Service was a tad slow given only 1 waitress on a Sat evening. However staff was friendly and approachable. Food was alright for Jap cuisine. Don't mind going back with other offers. Only issue was finding carpark. Cakes were the highlight of the meal!
Carmen
We enjoyed a wonderful Japanese dinner. The food was delicious. Great value for money. The service was amazing and the staff were so accommodating and attentive. Definitely worth a visit.

We bought 40 pieces of sushi for $29 deal. Sushi wasn't the best but they're not too bad. They were cut smaller than usual sushi, must be because of Scoopon deal. Sashimi looked a bit stale, taste wise was still ok. Others were okay. Maybe we shud try dining in next time and see if it's any better.

Bought 2 x 4 coupons from Scoopon for 7 of us. The restaurant is located inside the Great Southern Hotel but not that hard to find because of the clear sign beside the entrance. First of all, the service was FANTASTIC! The owner, Christina, was really friendly and came to talk to us. She was patient when it came to ordering although there was a bit of a confusion. She even offered us free sushi and was happy for us to takeaway because we were really full! We ordered an entree each, 7 mains and a sashimi plate as a main. The portions were adequate and delicious. Soft shell crab was my favourite. Once it came to dessert we quickly realised we couldn't have cake anymore as we were full so we were given the option of having ice cream as an alternative which was not included with the voucher. So we chose the green tea ice cream which was wondeful! We thoroughly enjoyed the food and especially the service, and won't hesitate to come back again.

Got a CHEAP CHEAP voucher from groupon giving us a 'gourmet burger, chips and beer' for $11... Of course went for it! The restaurant is actually inside a hotel which was a bit confusing, but got there eventually :) staff were super lovely, and had no problems being sat with our voucher even though we didn't book. We shared the burger and chips as we had food for later, so then had to order an extra drink which was super cheap anyway! The food came quick. I wouldn't call it a gourmet burger, more of a roadhouse, but for $11 what do you expect?! Looking around the rest of the food seemed nice and your average hotel menu. Ambience was good but need better music (even if I do love a bit of Alison Moyet ;) ). All in all cheap and easy! :)
