Review Villa D'este - Perth

Ness Fez
The venue is nice and quaint. I came here on a Groupon deal and found the service to be very very slow and uninterested. Even with the Groupon deal, the price was on the expensive side as side dishes needed to be ordered with mains. The meals all looked appealing when served. My tartare entree was alright and a decent portion size. My lamb main was ok but definitely needed the sides to balance the dish. Unfortunately my dessert was a letdown - the banana bread in my dessert was overcooked and yet served cold. My partner's pudding was rock hard and appeared to have been overcooked in the microwave. I wouldn't choose to come here again.

A++ Absolutely Amazing Get in early as it gets busy Can be a little pricey, but the food is top of its game.

Villa D'Este provides a very pleasant dining experience. The food is excellent. There is a good wine selection. The service is first-rate. It is a classy establishment and popular with business people for those important meal occasions. There is a private dining room that can be booked for small functions. Highly recommended for a classy dining experience.

Superb dining experience, attentive, experienced staff, faultless food. The suggested wines were most enjoyable. Lovely relaxed atmosphere where diners and staff seemed to be having a good night. Highly recommended.

My partner and I had a great dinner with a calm and friendly staff looking after every requirement. The Crepe Suzettes were served with flair ( delicious) and every request heeded with a smile. It was a special dinner for us that was greatly enhanced by good food and pleasant service

We really had an incredible experience at Villa D'Este. I took my girlfriend there for her 21st birthday and Everythig is excellent!! The food was delicious and the service was really incredible especially "Antonio". thanks!! The staff is very knowledgeable and passionate about food. Best dinner I have had in Peth! Highly recommend for a special occasion or more casual.

A great night out with the family. The lamb was moist and delicious :-). I highly recommend the oysters for entree and the martinis are to die for. On a side note, the staff are second to none and the humour and side jokes shared throughout the night made the experience!

Food is ok, not actually good. I came here with a Groupon deal my wife bought. I did get treated like a second class citizen. I cannot recommend waiters with attitudes. Why do Groupon if they're going to treat their customers with contempt? Avoid the Puglia and abbruzzo vino. Both are very average. To be honest, they tasted like heat damaged wines. Will not be back for a long long long time if I can avoid it. And the meal came to $140 even with a voucher. I could eat at much better places and pay less compared to this old yesteryear Italian restaurant.

Italian style restaurant, with traditional & modern dishes. Very friendly professional silver service. Only premium products are used by our multi award winning Chef. Great atmosphere, very comfortable garden surroundings. Perfect place for a business lunch or a special dinner occasion. Take advantage of our private room, which hold up to 14 people or our court yard setting that can be used all year around. Don't forget our daily specials changed daily or the wood fire suckling piglet available every Thursday. Our snails in garlic sauce and the fresh oysters shucked to order. For the final touch, indulge with Villa d'Este creme brûlée or tiramisu, also one of the last places you can find famous 'Crepe Suzette' cooked at the table . Don't forget our signature dishes, Casonsei alla Bergamasca (small parcels of homemade pasta filled with chicken, veal and Parmesan cheese, served with browned butter and fresh sage) or Gamberoni al Diavoletto, sizzling garlic prawns. Amazing grilled steaks

Joint birthday dinner... went on a groupon and we were treated really well by all waitstaff.<br/>Entrees were fabulous and in huge portions...I had gnocci with sausage, spinach and tomato ...perfection.<br/>My main of veal, marrow and polenta was super delicious and the pouring gravy tied everything together... do yourself a favour and get the duck fat potato side! Tried my friend's tagliatelli with ragu and it was sensational too!<br/>Dessert was drool worthy... I got the creme caramel with salted caramel, brittle and banana ice cream... wow!<br/>This place provides robust flavours, handmade pasta perfection and has a refined, yet warm setting.<br/>Thanks so much for making our dinner extra special :)

Probably the best Dinner of my life. Great authentic italian food and impeccable service Vote: 10+.<br/>Thursday night I have had a romantic three course dinner with my partner. What can I said? Probably it has been one of the best dinner of my life. The dinner has been perfect: the atmosphere was unique, the service was impeccable and the food was divine. We have ordered casonsei alla bergamasca (homemade pasta filled with meat): the best dish of the night. The burramandi was cooked perfectly: it melt in our mouth and the dessert was incredible. I have to say that this restaurant is probably the best italian restaurant in Perth. Thanks to the head chef William, to Victor, Luigi and Antonio. Thanks to make our dinner so incredible and special. We will return for sure soon. Thaaanks

We had a wonderful time here tonight. The service was great and the staff were extremely welcoming. The food was delicious and the portions were extremely generous. The linguine was cooked perfectly al dente and the pumpkin soup was particularly spectacular. Will definitely be coming again!

DONT USE SCOOPON IF YOU ARE PLANNING TO DINE HERE.<br/>Was trying to organise a romantic night with my partner but we were on tight budget hence the scoopon.<br/>Once we arrived the waiter asked if we need any sparkling / still water, after saying tap water is fine the waiter just went from a smiley face to a straight face.<br/>After deciding not wanting any drinks on the menu, the service went from a 10 to 5 real quick.<br/>I guess great service is only for people who are not using a coupon.<br/>

Service and food was lovely. Service was very personalized which is a rare thing these days. We had the prawn special and Morton Bay Bugs as entree. My favourite was definitely the bugs! So good and generous serve.<br/>Mains we had the suckling pig and fish of the day. Again amazing quality. Tiramisu was similar to what we had in Italy. Our waiter (Antonio i believe) was attentive but gave us our space. It felt so authentic and homely. Was my first time there but hopefully not the last! Cant wait to go back to try something different next time. <br/>Thank you for making my husband's special night flawless!

Absolutely incredible experience! We felt like we were in Italy. The service was definitely a 5 star! Meals couldn't of been better - full of flavour and very well presented ! I would definitely recommend the potato gnocchi for entree and the beef cheeks for main. VERY delicious food!!

Lovely meal <br/>The best service in Perth - nothing was too hard <br/>Food was tasty- my chicken breast cooked perfectly <br/>Tiramisu was wonderful <br/>Gin n Tonic..top notch <br/><br/>

Great friendly service. Gnocchi and spaghetti was good but pricey menu. If there could be more vegetarian options that would be an improvement.

Before tonight began my partner and i wanted to experience a romantic restaurant in perth so i googled fine dining restaurants and Villa D'Este came up.<br/>Which brings me to tonight (Feb 17th 2017) me and my partner went to this fine dining restaurant (a bit hesitant as the last time we googled and went to a place it was quite bad and for high prices too)<br/>As soon as we walked in two lovely gentlemen from the baby boomers generation tended to us and treated us like we were the only people there. They were very attentive our water glass was never left empty and what can i say service was just Impeccable oh and the food was AMAZING!!!<br/>(See photos) and to complete the night my partner surprised me with an important question which one of the men were happy to catch on camera for us.<br/>Then as we payed the bill they gave me a rose and a box of chocolates and said that my partner had organised it even when he didnt.<br/>Such a lovely restaurant and such a romantic atmosphere WE'LL BE BACK!!<br/>$190... GARLIC BREAD, GNOCCI SML, CLAM PASTA, CRUSTED LAMB, TWO DESSERTS AND 3 BEERS <br/>5 stars!!<br/>

Service is laughable, my wife was given a scoopon for her birthday and when she tried to organise a reservation they refused to honour it, if that's how you treat people trying to become a customer I'd hate to see how you treat patrons in your establishment during a service.<br/>Will go elsewhere and not give this place a second thought.

Thought I'd add my review even though I visited before the change of management some time ago. Visited with a few family members and whoa! was I impressed! I'm usually a bit weary visiting higher-end restaurants due to their 'snob factor', not the case here. The food was to die for. Easily the best pasta I have ever had and the staff were fantastic. Sure, it's nowhere near being inexpensive but I don't eat always thinking about my wallet. Was truely an impeccable dining experience, well done!!

I have been a long time diner at Villa D'Este but since the new owner took over earlier this year it has moved from a 3.5 star to a 5 star restaurant. It starts from the moment you are personally greeted by the Maitre D - Enrico ((who reaks experience and professionalism) , through to the wait staff who made me feel that I was so special! I started with the soup of the day a true traditional Italian clear broth with vegetables then I was attracted to the fish on the menu and went for Red Snapper - lightly grilled with the skin crisp and a delicate lemon sauce - to die for! <br/>The ambiance of the restaurant has been improved since my last visit with freshly painted dining areas and renovated bathrooms - all adding to a more sophisticated experience.<br/>I was amazed by the excellent range of wines and went for a French variety to complement the fish. Finally when I was settling the bill I was presented with a long stemmed rose - now that what a lady likes - highly recommended ML

Very lovely place. The interior has an amazing Italian style layout that makes you feel as if you are there. The staff were lovely and attentative. Happened to be a quieter night but this was nice as I could imagine when it is more full, the noise would carry. The food was amazing, my partner loved the food last time and raved until we came back. She would have liked to have had the Panna cotta on the dessert menu as previously, but only a small detail. Overall very lovely night and we will be back.

The ambience was superb. It was our anniversary and what a lovely place to celebrate. Service was absolutely fantastic. Garlic Bread and snails Casonsei were absolutely delicious. The mains of suckling pork and veal Prataiola was tender and tasty. Desserts were both very enjoyable as was the Irish Coffee. Will definitely be returning.

Hi to all. On Friday 26th February 2016 I had a beautiful meal at Villa D'Este like usual. During the night at Villa D'Este I lost my Tiffany Bracelet. I know that someone at the restaurant that night would have found it either in the Restaurant ,the Toilets or just out side. It is a beautiful Bracelet and it has a lot of sentimental value to me. Please if you did find it please please do return it to me. It would make you a better person. You have no idea what this bracelet means to me.<br/>It can be dropped off at the restaurant or I can pick it up or you can post it to me. I will pay for the postage. Please I beg you to return it.

Under new ownership and management. Fantastic food. Great genuine italian service. Pasta was exceptional and whole cooked piglet sensational. Generous serves. Large selection of tasty desserts. Noisy, however.

Traditional Italian dinning staff were very friendly food was tasty fish was cooked perfect<br/>Pasta my son had was a bit to much oil but was cooked adenta overall very good.<br/>Only downside was we waited and waited for a desert menu and ended up going
ChrissyK
Good old fashioned Italian food. Servings are big. Waiters seem to be run off their feet but are very professional. Food came out quick but waited about an hour to be served at the start.

Have had several business lunches and a dinner at Villa D'Este. The service is always gracious and attentive, occasionally a little too much, and the menu is diverse and tempting.<br/><br/>Worth a try if you have a voucher or deal but otherwise save this one for when you want to show off or impress. You'll certainly remember the bill for a while!
Annette Evans
It seems Villa D’Este has been around almost as long as I have, and that’s a while. In the heart of the West Perth business district, this Italian stalwart keeps chugging along, serving excellent business lunches at a price that will make your heart sing. For $38.80 you can indulge in a three course meal, served by waiters straight from charm school.

Great venue service and food. Got scoopon voucher for 99$ for 2, love it, friendly service, nice selection of choices and wonderful wine recommendation. <br/>It was full house even tho it was mid week. Food was promptly served and all were tasty. Service was delightful and everyone felt happy and full for the price we paid.<br/><br/>wd love to do it again.

Outstanding restaurant. Amazing surrounding, very relaxed atmosphere. <br/>Service and dishes impeccable!

I have just returned home from Villa D'Este and am mortified to read the reviews about the restaurant as I would have to disagree 100% in regards to the comments about the bad service.<br/>We had a voucher in which there was no judgement, the service was the best I have received in Perth in a long time. The serving sizes massive. Our table walked away smiling and full! Thank you wait staff at Villa D'Este!!
Swagman6111
Rudeness beyond comparison. Our evening started well enough, the service from our waiters was good, friendly and attentive. The antipasti was also good. I ordered chicken livers for main, which i was told came with roast potatoes, my wife ordered Barramundi. The chicken livers were good, but alas it didnt come with the promised potato, no big deal. My wife's fish had an odd metalic taste and was powdery in the middle, the consistency of a flour and water paste. She couldnt eat it.<br/>The waiter enquired as to why my wife hadnt eaten her meal, she explained why. The waiter reported this to the manager, Enrico I think she called him. The manager appeared, and without an apology, stated that the fish is fresh and has just been cooked, he then promptly marched off. It was as if he had just lectured a naughty child. His rudeness was incomprehensible.<br/>This place is still trading on its reputation frm 10 years ago, the food is not to standard, prices are very high, and the managers attitude to customers is reprehensible. We will never return!

Literally the worse italian ever!. How salty is the pasta? It feels like I inhaled a large packet of salt!! Worse pasta i have ever eaten in my life. <br/><br/>Roast side potatoes were so dry and hard.. prawns were overcooked..<br/><br/>The service is so bad.. waiters look so grumpy and unhappy! Lighten up.<br/><br/>So true with all the other negative reviews on here and we will never come back here again. <br/><br/>Over priced and very overated!!

This is a desperate restaurant. I wanted to treat my partner for Valentines day so I decided this would be a suitable place as I had not tried it before. I booked the reservation by phone and was greeted by an older Italian man who mentioned the set menu was the best value for money. I asked him how much this was and he said usually 190 per head but today I will give it to you for 170. For some reason he gave me the impression that he was desperate for business and told me that I need to decide right now as it was booking out fast, He followed this up by saying that it was inclusive with wine throughout the meal including both sparkling, white and red. I was happy with this and happy with his very very small discount that he offered. When we arrived there was a couple at the gate staring at their receipt saying "what did they charge us that for?" We thought that was strange and entered the restaurant not to be greeted but to be stared down at without a smile. The service was rubbish, the staff seemed on edge and unhappy, no friendly talk. Never once topped up our water glasses. Had to call them to order more wine that we had to pay extra for which the desperate used carsalesman quoted on the phone was inclusive throughout the meal. Didn't bother me as this meal was about me and my partner not a used carsalesman. Last but not least the bill was 190 per head which the used carsaleman quoted me at 170 thus not including the extra wine so that drove it up more. I did not complain as this would have ruined the meal for my partner. One thing I will add about this restaurant is that it has a vibe about it that is extremely fake, showy almost like they think they have some sort of celeb status or that they have cash.. Which I find funny as they are desperate for business. Make up your mind Vill D'Este are you in the game or not. You can't be both. Don't act flash and be desperate enough to rip people off at the same time.

Expensive and overcooked. My partner decided that we should try Villa D'Este for our 4 year anniversary. From the moment we stepped in the door we were greeted very badly, almost looked down upon. I instantly felt as if we were not wanted in the restaurant. As we were showed to our table the first thing the waiter said with a look of disgust was - so you are here with the voucher i assume? - and we were not. From then on the whole experience was horrible, the waiter said that a type of wine would be too expensive for us - again assuming we were somewhere we could not afford to be and the food sizes were very small for the prices, aswell as the pasta and seafood being tough and chewy. Would not go back or recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Amazing food and couldn't have asked for better service.

Unimpressed. I booked Villa D'Este for a birthday dinner with my family, wanting something a bit special as it was a "big" birthday year. Unfortunately none of us walked away satisfied. First of all if you book a large table, you're required to put down a deposit of $35 a head (which came to $420 for us), which is fine but was not noted on the website anywhere. I booked our table online and then was called up a few days later for my credit card information. The location itself is nice, warm and inviting. For the price we paid for our meals, I would have expected more from both the food and the service. The food was alright - definitely not worth the price point, in my opinion. Perhaps if we'd had warmer (or just better) service, it would have made up for it. The one female waiter we had was wonderful - attentive and efficient. The two male waiters that served us were not great - one was confident to the point of being cocky, and the other would fill up half of the table's wine glasses without asking if they wanted any more. I'm not sure if this is a cultural thing (his Italian accent was very heavy), but it still would have been nice to have the drinks paced out. The bread we ordered as a starter was good, although $47 for three small serves of bruschetta seems a bit steep. The mains took an hour to come out, and only half of the people at the table were really satisfied with their meals. The steaks came with an additional charge of $5 for sauce (it was either that, or the small pot of sauce that came with the kids meals), and there was no extra sauce, just what was on your plate. The mushroom pasta was gluggy and barely warm. We appreciated how willing the host was to make a meal for the children, although $30 for a kids fish and chips again seemed a bit much.<br/><br/>All up, I think this would be an OK restaurant to go to for a couple, or a much smaller party than ours. Definitely not the place to take kids, despite the host being accommodating on the menu options.

Tasty enough but service needs attention and food is over priced. Purchased a scoopon voucher. We received a phone call on the morning of the booking to confirm, which was great. Once we arrived, we were seated promptly in a room by the manager lady (it's an old house so there are separate rooms / areas) with 4 other tables. Menu's and water were brought out shortly after by waiter #1. Ordered wine. Waited about 15 mins, asked again and wine was brought out by waiter #2. About another 15 mins after, waiter #1 asked if we were ready to order, to which we said yes. He replied 'the manager will take your order soon'. So waited another 10 minutes and the manager man took our entree & main orders. The entree's were a good size and tasty but nothing amazing - over priced at the $26-$30 regular price. Wait time between entree's and mains was about 25 mins. Mains were simple, but tasty. Again, glad we didn't pay the $46-$48 regular price. We joked that service was slow as we may have been in the 'scoopon room'. What really stood out is that over the course of the night, at least 4 different people plus the manager served us, and that there seemed to be some confusion between them. On a table next to us, 2 of the waiters had a a disagreement at the table at a very audible level. Once they left the room they had a bit of an argument, in full view of patrons. As the night went on we had our desserts, which were simple but nice, but the service dwindled to almost nil. We were sitting waiting to get the attention of one waiter to get the bill, which took about 20 mins after they cleared the desert plates. So a 3 course meal for 2 people took a total of over 3 hours. It was quite busy but the wait times were definitely longer than average. When we paid the bill for our extras (wine & sides) we received a dirty look when handing them the scoopon. I do feel that service was compromised because we had a scoopon. I wouldn't buy another one, nor rush back here. Much better Italian, service and value can easily be found elsewhere.

It was lovely. We have been there a number of times and it never fails to impress me. It is a pricey restaurant, but a lot of places in Perth are. We will definitely return.

Not worth a visit.

Excessive, for what?. I don't understand how restaurants like this get away with charging such ridiculous prices for below-average food. I mean, where is the ingredients sourced from? If it was something special then I don't mind forking out the money, however this was anything but special.<br/>1 clam out of 5 was still closed shut, waiter said nothing, chef obviously doesn't care. Medallions of veal - paper thin and overcooked. Serving is so small I could have inhaled it. Gelati - 1 scoop was grainy in texture, the other had a strange consistency like Clag glue. Best part of the meal was the crusty Italian bread at the start.<br/>Service was cold, no smiles, no mentioning the dish when they put it on the table, no asking how our meals were, no topping up of water on the table. And then a 20 minute wait for us to order dessert despite having had the dessert menus open on our table and trying to make eye contact with the only person I could see behind the bar. <br/><br/>Very expensive and very disappointing night. No wonder why they have to keep pumping out vouchers to get customers. Take your hard earned elsewhere.

Good food but let down by unfriendly service and dirty restaurant. Dined here yesterday on a Groupon voucher. When we sat down there was an odd smell (smelt like someone had been sick). I was going to ask to move tables but the staff were pretty unapproachable. When I looked under the table there was old food (this was a 12.30 booking so should have been clean!!) the salt and pepper were also smeared with something gross.. It was my husband's birthday so I didn't want to create a scene. Also I had pre paid for the meal with Groupon. I was also annoyed to see their lunch menu (@ $38 per head) was cheaper that the $99 voucher. Perhaps this should have been made clear when I booked. The manager came to 'explain' our voucher. We both noticed he stank of cigarettes. We also felt we were treated differently once we explained we had a Groupon voucher.<br/>This is a great pity as the food was amazing. The starter and main were perfect. Perhaps the pudding could have been better. <br/>I received a large bill at the end too!! Obviously we expected to pay for drinks, but having to pay for side dishes and bread for the table seemed excessive!! I have had much better meals for my total bill of $220 plus the voucher. Next time I will go elsewhere.
Jean
Dissapointed. Bought 2 coupons and used 1. Dinner was average, my husband ordered a steak and was told it was not in the list so therefore we had to pay full price for it. We also had a glass of wine and sparkling and it cost us $90.00. I think it's a bit pricey. I realised I still have 1 coupon left but found out that it has expired so I rang the restaurant to see if they can allow me to still use the coupon at a discount rate but was abused by the person answering the phone and bluntly said no and hung up on me. I think this people are very greedy and rude I will never go back again.

Very expensive but great quality. It really comes down to what you are prepared to pay. And I think for many the prices would be beyond their tolerance level. However, we were there as a couple with no other family members to pay for and we had a first class meal. Restaurant was busy but not quite full. We were greeted by attentive and polite staff. Our summary of the meal would be first class ingredients excellently prepared and presented. Both the steak and the chicken breast we had for mains were cooked to perfection and the accompanying vegetables were simply succulent. If you are dining on a budget, don't go here. But if you want something special and are prepared to splash out the experience is worth it.

Recently purchased a voucher & gave it to a pensioner couple for a treat . Unfamiliar using vouchers they asked what they could choose , they were told anything on the menu . They chose bread 1 slice each , an entree & steak for main each , also 1 glass of wine & 1 coffee each , no dessert . When leaving they asked how much they had to pay for the wine , their bill was $60 ! Paying for 2 slices of bread , 2 wines & 2 coffees . Maybe they should have read the voucher properly , but I think they could have been given at least the coffee instead of the dessert . Disappointing

Great atmosphere ..... Good.... Great atmosphere .....<br/>Good service <br/>Well presented and tasty food<br/>Very sizeable wine list <br/>It's not cheap however<br/>Was dissappointed they couldn't do the flambé Crepes as we were too early for dinner we were told....

Average. Pros: Nice ambience, romantic setting<br/>Main courses were nice (beef cheeks were delicious)<br/><br/>Cons: <br/>Entree & dessert were average. The gnocchi tasted like an undercooked doughy blueberry muffin. <br/>Overpriced. <br/><br/>Maybe they were having a bad night but for the price we wouldn't go back to try it again.

Extremely impressed Went wi.... Extremely impressed<br/>Went with a scoopon voucher for a three course meal<br/>We were greeted with utmost professionalism and respect and lead to our table. Before placing our orders we were given an appetiser which added a lovely touch<br/>Oysters and squid for entree - very acceptable size portions however and oyster was missing from it's shell - as they had done oyster kilpatrick so well we felt we had to let them know - they were extremely apologetic and brought out 4 more! Very impressed<br/>The mains course was just as good, my partner had the serloin steak and even that was a big enough portion to stop him in his tracks, cooked to perfection.<br/>The barramundi was also cooked perfectly<br/>Dessert topped it off <br/><br/>And we had a bottle of red to go with our meals that went down a treat!<br/>Would definietly return even without the scoopon! It's worth paying the money here for the exceptional quality and service! An excellent example of what fine dining should be.

Visited this restaurant tonight on a Groupon voucher and enjoyed a delicious 3 courses. The time between ordering and each course was a little long most likely I believe because we only had one drink each leaving lots of wait time. Service was pleasant and the food was very nice with lots of delicious choices not limited at all by the voucher but a little limited on the vegetarian options. Would recommend a return visit taking advantage of a voucher deal option as the menu is quite expensive. All in all a lovely experience with an authentic Italian feel.

Went here for dinner last night with a voucher and was amazing! Was a very lovely atmosphere. Service a little bit slow at the start but was quite busy, waiters were very pollite and friendly. Food was delicious had gnochi for entre and my partner had another pasta dish, both were delicious and fresh! For the main I had a steak, was really yummy! Veal was good too but my partner wanted the steak too. both had the warm chocolate pudding which was very yummy and rich. Couldn't fault a dish and great value for 100 dollars!!! No idea why there's some bad reviews very authentic Italian. Wonderful experience.

DO NOT buy a voucher for this place.. We used voucher for this place months and months ago now but thought I would leave a review since I just saw they have more vouchers available on Groupon. <br/>All I can say is don't bother. The staff were extremely rude, food was ok and the portion sizes were very underwhelming. <br/>If you are going to treat your customers with vouchers so poorly, how about do everyone a favour and don't make them available. <br/>Not sure what the problem was but another customer was visibly unhappy and had a few words with one of the staff members.<br/>There is much better Italian in Perth.

Top prices not matched by service!. We booked Villa D'este for a very special occasion, a table for 6 people on Thursday 17 April. <br/>We arrived just after 7pm, got greeted with a lot of Italian flamboyancy and the drinks waiter was at the ready before we had a chance to take our coats of .... Although he was our table appointed drinks waiter (I do not believe he was a sommelier) he did not advise us on any of the wines - (possibly in part due to his apparent limited English) and did not ask anyone to taste the wine before pouring it. He would constantly lean over one guest to fill up another guest's glass. Our glass was not even 1/4 empty before he came to refill, without asking if we would like a top up. We were kept waiting at least 45mins before another waiter came to take our order! Clearly the idea was to sell more wine, but with 2 ''skippers'' this was an unsuccessful effort ... rather, it resulted in 6 extremely hungry guests by the time our mains arrived at 8:45! (We did not order entrees, only bread & nibbles). The 6 meals arrived at longish intervals and the waiter could not remember who had ordered what, and there was a fair bit of ''musical plates'' going on, which was another let down for a restaurant of this standing. <br/>By the time our deserts came it was 10 o'clock, then we ordered some coffees, which came around 10:30, at the same time as the waiters noisily started to clear tables around us, removing table cloths, packing up chairs: a hint it was time for us to leave? Clearly, we are not regulars at this restaurant and really felt we got second rate treatment. While the food was delicious and the restaurant's interior is truly Mediterranean and welcoming, none of us will ever go back. We left very disappointed and a bit embarrassed, as it was not us footing the bill, but our overseas visitors who had asked us to ''pick a really nice restaurant''!

Fancy. Went to Villa D'Este 13/05/14 for my sisters birthday with a voucher for a 3 course meal.<br/>we really enjoyed ourselves.<br/>we got to chose what ever we wanted from the menu.<br/>the food was yummy and filling.<br/>my favourite was the desert choco pudding and ice cream.<br/>the service was good, we really enjoyed that the waiters were Italian. <br/>I would def recommened this place.

Awful customer service at the phone. Great food and ambiance.. The restaurant is lovely and the food can be exquisite. <br/>however, we received incredibly poor and even rude service when we enquired about the voucher and table booking by phone. such behaviour left a horribly sour taste in our mouths despite the nice food, and we won't go back in a hurry.

Dining Experience at Villa D'Este Restaurant. My husband and I dined at Villa D'Este Restaurant on 3 April at lunchtime and we had a Scoopon voucher for a three course meal for two people for $99.00 and this proved to be exceptional value for money at a top end restaurant. This was a wonderful dining experience with top quality food and excellent service by professional Italian waiters. We could choose anything on the menu except for two items and nothing was compromised because we had a Scoopon voucher. Highly recommended.

Gimme that Gnocchi!. My boyfriend and I went to Villa D'Este with a $99 voucher. You can order anything from the menu except for some of the shellfish dishes. This wasn't a problem because there were lots of other yummy options. Service was lovely and no different for us with a voucher than other diners in the restaurants. Though it was a Tuesday night so they weren't too busy anyway.<br/><br/>For entree I ordered the gnocchi and my boyfriend ordered the linguini vongolle. I thought his pasta was a bit salty but he loved it. My gnocchi was just amazing. Perfect texture and beautiful sauce. I would come back just for that gnocchi. I still think about it weeks later and I get cravings for it. <br/><br/>For mains I ordered twice cooked duck in orange sauce and my boyrfriend ordered scallopini. We were both happy with our mains... but the gnocchi was definitely my favourite. Overall lovely experience.

Always a favourite ! My husband & I look forward to dining here on special occasions. We love the elegance of the establishment, the ambience and the charming old school service no one else in Perth seems to provide. Now about the food... The bread to start is fresh and crusty. The clams are my all time fav entree, for main the barramundi is heavenly and dessert is walnut tart every time! A glass of wine washes it all down nicely or my usual order of pompellmo which is refreshingly good!! We use deal vouchers to dine and that makes for a memorable evening all round. Highly recommend the experience! Dress up and enjoy an unforgettable meal

Lovely experience with voucher. We came with great company, armed with the voucher deal -1 main , 1 entree, 1 dessert each for two people for $99. <br/><br/>The service was lovely,.This is really old school sort of service , the one where there is a lot of respect for customers (voucher or no voucher) and has great pride and knowledge food they serve. <br/><br/>The food we had was lovely - steak and quail mains; carpaccio, oysters, escargots and seafood pasta as entrees; chocolate pudding and Pannacotta as desserts. <br/><br/>The main I ordered which was the duck confit with orange sauce was very, very dry and slightly burnt. The other downside was also the walnut tart dessert which was not to our taste. <br/><br/>All in all it was a lovely night with great service and good food. The voucher was great value. I would not dine for the full price though.

Beautiful ambience, beautiful and friendly people who do not expect anything in return and all are fair. When I say fair, I actually bought a prepaid meal where I get an entrée, main and a dessert. I asked for a bruschetta to be my entrée and the waiter asked if I was sure as it's value is not the same as of it being a typical entrée. That's really sweet. To top that off, my mum had tea afterwards on top of our prepaid meal and they did not charge us although I told them to calculate the bill and add ten to tip but they politely refused to take any money. Genuine people loved the kind manager, Christopher I think took our order and I'll never forget Frédérico our brilliant waiter who very subtly and perfectly kept an eye on us. <br/><br/>Ok for the food. The bruschetta was okay, the bread was a bit tough but my mum had the oysters and they were brilliant. We had the chicken main oh my god, I'm not exaggerating, I died and went to heaven whilst it lasted. It was absolutely fab! I almost wiped off the gravy with my fingers as it was massively delicious but held myself back (fine dining and all that)<br/><br/>Dessert couldn't have been better. Ahhhh, the ambience, setting, staff, food, Kind gestures, better than my birthday I'd say, love it! =)<br/><br/>It is a tad bit pricey for the portions but I'd say go for the lunch or set menus, more than half the price :-)

A-ok. Came here with a voucher for a 3 course meal. quiet setting with professional staff. had the beef carpaccio, garlic snails, braised beef cheeks, stuffed quail, tiramisu and walnut tart. the servings are quite large, very nicely infused flavors, but a bit salty for me. we couldn't finish it all, but the waiter was very nice to allow me to take the food home for the dogs.

Went for a aniversary dinner lastnight with hubby. We had our deal voucher and the waitress made us feel as if we didn't. He kindly suggested the pork belly. We both ordered as I main and it was to die for especially with the fig. For the main my partner ordered the duck and I ordered the pasta, both were good. Desert tiramisu was amazing but the rich chocolate cake was dry very dry do not get. Service amazing except for one of the waiters spilling the bottle on me which the manager apologised and gave me a free drink. All in all very professional and would only go again with the voucher as it was really expensive. Great night though thanks villa deste

Waste of Time. Booked table using this website which was confirmed by email - was then contacted by phone an hour later and told there was a mix-up and my booking was cancelled! - well at least they contacted me!

I have been a fan of this restaurant for years but after my experience in sat night I won't be rushing bank. We waited for drinks service, then when ordering had to ask what the specials were, then when ordering I was told there was no fish ( would have been good to know when being told the specials) we poured our own wine. When our mains came my partner waited more than ten mins for his potatoes ( 2 small marble sized pots) and thd roasted vegetables ( bowl of green beans) when I queried the wait and poor self room and quantity of sides the waiter could not speak English. Hope they pick up game because this was a favourite of mine for years.

Never again!. Dined with 3 friends. Food not great, main was overcooked tough rabbit.... Followed by the worst example of unprofessional service I have ever seen. The waiter accidently clipped the desert menu on a glass of red wine, which spiraled through the air covering the head and white shirt of my friend opposite me. The waiter initially ran off returning a minute later to accuse me of tipping the glass over then proceeded to go around the resturant asking the other patrons to confirm his version of the story! He was so intent on finding a witness we actually had to ask for a clean napkin to soak up the split wine and request a change of table. Later when my friends complained to the manager he just laughed and said we should drink the wine not throw it at each other. :(

The entre and main were good, but very expensive. There are lots of other places in Perth with great food and a better atmosphere. The dessert was ok. We had a scoupon so the dinner was pretty good value, but would have been very disappointed if we had paid full price. This place is definitely overpriced.

Wish I'd gone with the previous reviewer. Visited on a Monday evening, maybe that is the real staffs evening off!<br/>Service was deplorable. We sat for 35 minutes before I hailed a waiter and asked 'Could we please have a drink' to which I was rudely told ... Well, that is what I am here for! Disgusting and not something expected of an establishment of this calibre.<br/>My partner had the mixed seafood grill which was delicious, I wish I had too as the Veal Medallions were thin, overcooked and rubbery. We were also given vegetables we didn't order and which we thought were complimentary, only to have them whipped off of our table a few minutes later and then they gave them to the person who had ordered them! <br/>Dessert was Ok but the whole evening was spoilt by the poor service.

This place has been around a long time, the menu probably hasn't changed and it doesn't need to. All three courses were amazing. The service was top class. It is expensive, so for special nights only. Not for anyone looking for new and hip, very old style. I love it.

This is a fabulous restaurant. Admittedly also an expensive restaurant, but the service is good, and the food is great. We had a very enjoyable dinner, thank you!

Lost in a time warp. Villa D'Este is so last century it should be in a museum. OK food? Not really. Boring, predictable, everything smothered in sauces, nothing that jumped out at me. This is Italian food that I ate in the 1980's.<br/><br/>Hey, wake up you guys. This is how the dinosaurs died. They didn't adapt. This is a new world of fresh, inventive food and letting the flavours speak for themselves. Instead, what we were served tonight was Perth-boring.<br/><br/>Get out of your comfort zone and give me something I would walk over broken glass to go back for. Not same-old, same-old. <br/><br/>Sorry, but you didn't cut the mustard. Unless you revamp a very stuffy menu, I for one won't be back.

Scoopon voucher - 3 course meal for two for $99. Totally worth it !!<br/><br/>Excellent food, great service. Despite the other reviews we didnt feel any less important with the voucher. Lucky we have the voucher. Without it wouldnt be as worth it because its really pricey. Food was great but I think definitely overpriced without the voucher. Go buy the voucher!!!<br/><br/>Snails - smell amazing when it arrived on the table. Snails were lovely but small leaving me wanting more. Could eat whole bowl of it<br/><br/>Beef cheeks - Ohh really melts in the mouth. But needed some roast veggies to cut down the richness of if<br/><br/>Choc pudding - Ahmazing. Butterscotch to die for. Could use one or two more tablespoon of sauce. Barely any sauce in the last bites of the pudding. <br/><br/>Would definitely comeback only with the voucher.

I was a bit worried about going for dinner to celebrate our wedding anniversary using Scoopon vouchers but it ends up being a great experience. The service was fine even after we brought blurred printed vouchers they were happy to just taking the numbers from our mobile. The decoration and atmosphere are very pleasant and relaxing. The served us water in the cups and we weren't charged for them (I think they only charge you if you ask for a bottle) and they kept refilling our cups all night. When we ordered entries and main my husband order something that wasn't included in the promo selection and they informed him and suggested a similar dish that he could have instead. The entries were great, I ordered one of the pasta dishes (something del mare with seafood) and it was delicious. My husband's entry was good but he founded it small (he always does) so he accompanied it with garlic bread. Main was ok. I had coniglio (rabbit) for the very first time and quite enjoyed it although it came with chestnuts which were a bit overpowered with alcohol, good if you like alcohol but I don't so I skipped those ones. My husband's main was a steak dish and had no sides but I shared mines as I was full and it would had taken too long to order something else, surprisingly he didn't complain about the size. Desserts were delicious and very well presented. At the end there were no surprises with our bill we only paid $30odd for two beers, lemon lime & bitters and two portions of garlic bread. I would go again although I think is overpriced

REVIEW FOR VOUCHERS PEOPLE. If you have a voucher BEWARE!!! don't order any vegies or bread and don't let them plonk water on your table thinking it is INCULUED , ALL OF THE OBOVE ARE EXTRA!!!!!! the water will add an extra 10 dollars to your bill, and the vegies and bread which you automatically think are included cost a fortune as well. The wine we order for 18 dollars at Dan Murphys cost $45.00 which I don't really mind as most restaurants add heaps more to the wine anyway, BUT my husband had two beers so the total bill came to around $120.00 so include our voucher made a total of $220.00 so we really DIDNT SAVE A THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but the food was beautiful, well worth it if you don't mind the bill at the end. :)

Amazing food and service. Best Italian we have had in Perth.<br/>Recommend the chocolate pudding, simply stunning!

Just OK. Pros: The Restaurants Décor, Atmosphere & Dessert.<br/><br/>Cons: Overpriced Menu & Overcooked Steak.<br/><br/>Overall the food wasn’t bad but by no means was it amazing. My steak was overcooked which ruined the whole dining experience for me, however others at the table enjoyed their meals.<br/><br/>Service was fine.<br/><br/>Not somewhere I would return to but not somewhere I would discourage others from trying.

Ok food, no fault but also nothing special. Had bad service from an Asian waiter, very impatient and do have attitude.
Lvoegoodstuff
Consistently excellent. We've been dining at Villa D'este for over 10 years, this occasion was as expected. Great food and service in a relaxed atmosphere. Loved having the crepes suzette made at my table, this was a first for me. Quality of ingredients always fresh and service impeccable, extensive menu. I wouldn't categorize it as fine dining, it's definitely not a snobby environment it's nice to go somewhere with a relaxed feel that serves beautiful food. Would never say no to another visit here!

Disgustingly exorbitant for the quality you get.. My work colleague and I dined here on Monday (26/08). <br/>We have always been keen to try out the restuarant, given how close to our work it is and also some "claims" of it being a nice restaurant. <br/>When we arrived the waiter took our order, he asked if we would like water "sparkling or still" we ordered still thinking it would be tap water, we also ordered lemon lime and bitters ($5 something each), garlic bread to share $4.80, one special pasta of the day it had some fancy name, and was said to come in a fig sauce and with pork sausage (roughly $28 for entree size) and the Casonsei Alla Bergamasca which is described as small parcels of homemade pasta with chicken and veal and cheese served with brown butter and fresh sage ($33.80 for entree size).<br/>We should have just ordered the garlic bread and then left because when the pasta's came out they were so beyond average, it's almost an outrage they charge as much as they do.<br/>My work colleague complained that her pasta looked more like Asian Hong Kong noodles (which they did), there was no hint nor taste of fig, the pork tasted strange and was rather over powering even given how little there was ontop of the pasta. My parcels looked like bon-bons (not what I had envisioned), the filling was decent enough but the few parcels that were in my bowl were soaked...- okay that's putting it lightly - doused in the burnt butter. It was terribly oily and rich and definitely not what I had expected, I thought it would have been used as a reduction not as a pond to drown the pasta parcels in my bowl.<br/>I couldn't help thinking for $33.80 this was a joke, you would be expecting something pretty damn phenomenal for that price but it was anything but.<br/>When we went up to the counter to use the entertainment book card and saw the receipt we were taken a back, they had charged us just shy of $10 for the bottle of water (that we had not even finished), could not believe it. <br/>For us "still" is "tap" we didn't think we would have been charged for that.<br/>I don't mind paying for food when it is quality, not when it is something that is marked up for no obvious reason whatsoever.<br/>We left truly disappointed and have decided to not dine here again.
Essie Orchard
Overpriced and under serviced. Most of the food was very nice, but the prices ($47-52 mains) are still not justified. $25 bottle of sparkling wine being sold at $53, and I did check the list for something more reasonable. Will never return. Regular patrons must have more money than sense.

THE BEST SO FAR!!i am Italian and quite fussy with food expecialy Italian food. I've tried few places in Perth and mostly I 've been disappointed. When I go out x dinner and decide to spend money I hope to have something that I can't cook myself, with a decent service and a good quality ingredients. Very rare in Perth. This restaurant is not cheap but so far 5* to concern food, service, atmosphere, knowledge. Well done. I will go back and I suggest to everyone who like simple the best. Rabbit with chestnut and pannacotta with creme caramel mmmmmmm. Never tasted something more perfect!!!!
Food Safari
Expensive but where's the service?. Dined here on Friday night for special occasion. Our booking was at 630pm but we arrived at 615. Door was shut and couldn't get in. The lights were on and tables were set but we can't see anyone around. Rang their number and said they are not open until 630pm and they are not ready. Never been to a restaurant where you get a reception like that. There were 3 of us and whilst we used a voucher, our guest ordered a la carte. Sparkling water was $10!! His entree was $29 and total bill came close to $80. Happy to pay but we expected at least some service. Many a times we had to grab a waiter. Maybe it's because we had a voucher. Waiters were snobbish. Didn't even get a "How's your meal? Is everything OK?" Should have gone to Divido at Mt Hawthorne or Perugino down the road.

Top food. This is the second time we have been here and loved the food and atmosphere today however the service was poor after we ordered our wine we had to ask for it after around 20 minutes . after we had finished our mains we ordered our desserts they also took over 20 mins the food though is superb and we will go back soon<br/><br/><br/>-----24 May, 2013-----<br/><br/>Bellissimo. My husband took me here for our anniversary. We both had an amazing meal. Entrees of clams with linguine and baby squid in white wine, followed by rabbit with chestnuts and wood fired quail. Let me stop there for a sec it was amazing. We finished with walnut tart and tiramusu. What can we say but go there the whole experience was divine!!!!!

Delicious meal tonight, with excellent service. Generous serves. Felt very welcome and well looked after.

Upclass Italian. Villa D'Este is one of those restaurants that you go to for a nice evening out, knowing that it will be at least $100/head for two courses and bottle of wine. I had the roast rabbit, my partner had the twice roast duck and both were fantastic. The service was good, but I was quite surprised by the lack of female wait staff! <br/><br/>The food was good, the atmosphere was fantastic and we will return.

It's OK,but overpriced T.... It's OK,but overpriced <br/><br/>This place is ok, but overpriced. Everything has extra charged, water, bread, butter....etc.<br/><br/>There are better restaurants with more reasonable prices.
Mrqaman
Noisy, overpriced, under delivered. Was taken there for my birthday, what a horrible place to go to. It was exceptionally noisy, the decor doesn't have anything to absorb the roar from so few customers. The prices are more than double the fare from the kitchen, rather plain food to tell the truth. The wait staff had the Gaul to actually sing at the table! I almost walked out at that point. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. They should do Perth a favour and close the doors for good.
Ann
It's ok food but to be good restaurant they need to cut prices by 50%<br/>otherwise it's way too expensive for average food<br/>can't say personnel were friendly either<br/><br/>don't recommend
Stella Lin
Noisy!! The noise made me totally lost my appetite..not a place for a romantic date for sure....<br/>If you want to have a little chat dinner, don't bother to come when it's busy as well......<br/>We paid $150 for a bad experience....hmmm not worth it!
Foodie
We went last night (Friday) and I was absolutely shocked at the poor food. We ordered Bruscetta which was average at best and then I had the seafood pasta, the seafood was overcooked the pasta was from a packet and there was no flavor even my partner turned my nose up at it. When the waiter asked why I didn't eat much unsaid because it was just ok and didn't enjoy it, he gave me a disgusting look as if I had personally offended me. Head to siennas as that's the standed of food served at apparently a fine dining restaurant. Keep up with Perth with establishments like Galileo etc poor execution is no longer an option
Dining With Child
Very expensive , but amazing food and service and very romantic

Better than expected. My husband and I dined at this restaurant on Saturday night. I was a bit skeptical of a great dining experience, due to reading the varied reviews on this website.<br/>We arrived at 6.15pm to locked gates, no chance on entering the restaurant prior to their opening time of 6.30pm.<br/>We were seated immediately, with drinks menu, but had to wait for the food menu. We decided quickly on our order, but had to ask a waiter to take our order.<br/>For entree I had the Moreton Bay Bugs, not a lot of flavour, even though they were literally swimming in sauce. My hubby had the ravioli, which was delicious, the filling melted in your mouth.<br/>For main I had the barramundi - which was beautifully cooked, the sauce was mushroom, and the flavour was lovely if not a little overpowering. My hubby had the wood fired Capretto, and could not rave highly enough about how delicious it was. <br/>The staff were attentive throughout our meal, even though the restaurant got quite busy. <br/>The decor and music were fine, not sure why people would complain about this.<br/>We didnt have dessert, as we were faily full from our meal, and nothing really appealed to me personally.<br/>All in all, we enjoyed our night out and would rate this a 7 out of 10.
Funkygran
OVERPRICED. Mains of $48.80 then extra for vegetables?!?! $10 for bottle of mineral water?<br/>This place should be out of business. Return customers must have more<br/>money than sense. Disgraceful.

Top service and amazing food. You won't find many places like this in Perth. We had an OurDeal voucher and we absolutely loved our fine dining experience at Villa D'Este . The service was impeccable and food is absolutely Devine! Will definetly go back!

Meh. Good food and service but def overpriced in my opinion

A Very Special Find. Villa D’Este is a real treat. The wait- staff make you feel like you are the only diners in the restaurant. The setting is so romantic, I really did not want to leave!<br/><br/>Food is delicious, service is flawless and wine amazing. Would recommend this place again and again.

Voucher for us. We also attended last night using a voucher. We were impressed in fact ate too much. Food was excellent if not a little rich, thought wine list was $$$$ but we managed to find a good kiwi one to our liking. Staff top rate. If i could change anything it would be the background music! yuck. <br/>We got to eat at a nice place ,parked outside front door, experience good service and will be back when we save a few more dollars.

Villa D'Este is fantastic. We went to Villa D'Este with a small group of 5 and ordered from "A la Carte Menu". <br/>Each dish was incredible!!! They were different and special. <br/>The wine was equally amazing. The service was brilliant and the manager had impeccable wine knowledge. Couldn't fault this restaurant which is a must visit in Perth. Being from Adelaide we were blown away by the food which is on par with some of Adelaide's best restaurants.
Kirsty M
I love this place!! The food is always amazing, well seasoned, filling, sophisticated and they offer the ultimate experience of Fine Dining! It's a large menu yet very easy to chose, which is always a good sign. <br/>The staff are extremely friendly and capable. I've taken friends there and people are always pleasantly surprised, for a restaurant away from the main roads, they are doing a much better job than most in the area! <br/>This place is a must if you haven't been before!!!
Juleslovesfood
Best Italian food in Perth. I know it's a little pricey but for a special treat it is worth it to expereince the quality of the food they have on offer.
Alfred
Classic Italian. Not feel excellent while on the phone confirming the bookings and during greetings when arrival. Anyway, the service was still good and wait persons are all very friendly. Excellent decoration and settings both indoor and outdoor. During my visit it's a bit noisy because of a big party with 3 big tables (over 30+ pax). Should be a romantic place. Food are over par however the wine menu may be enhanced to compromise the good food.
Rosie
Wonderful experience. It had been an estimated 5-6 years since we had dined at Villa D'Este, and the high standard of food and service has not altered an ounce!<br/><br/>We made a booking for 2 on a Saturday night, and from the moment we walked through the door, we were greeted with smiles and professional service. The waiters are very attentive - we received menus, our drinks and the evening's specials straight away.<br/><br/>We shared the asparagus and mushrooms for entree, my husband was delighted with the beef cheeks for main, as was I with the homemade tagliolini with beef ragu. We both loved our desserts (tiramisu and duet of pannacotta and creme caramel).<br/><br/>The restaurant decor has not changed over the years, but the atmosphere was warm and very Italian. We paid the bill using our Entertainment card, and despite previous reviews, did not have any trouble using the discount.<br/><br/>We enjoyed every course, the lovely service and will most certainly return.
Boat Yellow Pages
By far the best Italian Restaurant in Town. I can't understand why some of you would bash this restaurant when you use try to use your coupons on busy nights. If you understand how the coupon system works you will know that no restaurants in their right minds would except more than 5 (if not less) coupons per day as they still need to serve their regular and walk in customers. <br/><br/>Me and my partner went there for lunch and coffee and I was greeted by a very polite and well mannered staff. After we got escorted to our table we quickly checked out the menu (we were starving) and we were both stunned by the range of food this cosy restaurant has to offer.<br/><br/>The food came out within 15 minutes and we have to say that the taste and presentation were amazing.<br/><br/>Will go back again tonight.
Amy M
One of the best Italian Restaurants in Perth. As soon as my husband and I walked into Villa D'Este we felt like at home. The greeting we received was warm and inviting and quickly shown to our table where we were offered starter drinks. I couldn"t believe a restaurant of that size could offer such a wide variety of dishes, everything sounded amazing as well as having at least 10 different specials to choose from. We ended up having Casonsei with Butter and Sage and beautiful sizzling (even as they arrived) prawns for entrees followed by an amazing Double Roasted Duck that tasted just like it did when I visited Italy and my husband had the Osso Buco which just fell apart in the bowl. To finsih we both had the Crepes Suzette which they did at the table, something we had never seen before in a Peth restaurant. Our evening was wonderful, the food exceptional and the service impeccable. No one minds spending money in a restaurant when everything is this good.

Fine dining this is NOT. I was given a voucher for this eatery by a friend who highly reccommended it, and this is probably where it all went wrong. Apparently if you intend to surrender a voucher in exchange for part payment of your meal, you will be treated as a second rate diner.<br/>Upon arrival the maitre d barely looked up to greet us, when we announced we had a voucher to use he practically sneered at us, we were left standing there for almost 5 minutes before we were shown to our table, it was a further 10 minutes before we were brought any menus or offerred any water.<br/>It took almost 15 minutes to attract the attention of a waiter so we could ask what our voucher entitled us to, and then no one came to take our order for another 15 mins. We are 45 minutes into our dining experience and have been served only tap water, which was barely chilled.<br/>I ordered baby squid as an entree which was super tough (possibly defrosted) and still had its cartilage in, my friend ordered the asparagus, which had she paid the menu price for equated to >$5 per spear, seriously.<br/>When our main meals came, the waiter put them down in front of the wrong person, despite asking us, and us telling him whose was whose. Then we we asked him to switch the plates because they were too hot for us to touch, he 'huffed' at as indignantly.<br/>My fillet steak was overcooked, when I ask for rare, I don't expect to see any grey parts of meat, and it should be bloody. It was not. My friend's meal was burnt. The only edible part of her meal was the potatoes, which were suprisingly nice, though small.<br/>Over all, if you enjoy second rate food and being treated like you have leprosey while you dine out, this is the place for you ! I've always thought that the point of vouchers was to allow you to try places and encourage your repeat business, but I guessnot all places feel that way !!

How a Restaurant should be?. Coming from Europe to live in the beautiful and sunny Perth years ago I experienced a vacuum, a void in the good top end Restaurants. Few and far between a multitude of Cafe' and self-proclaimed European food venues. Surely Villa D'Este impress me from the first time I walked in: a classic elegant deco that reminded me of a villa on the foreshore of the Lake of Como with a professional, elegant service, with food and wine to surprise me and my guest every time. For work and private reasons I have been allover Perth for lunch and dinners. However, Villa D'Este Restaurant hovers above the others venues as a shine and bright star: never fail and never disappointing!! Food is superb, wine selection is massive and if you go for business lunch is also surprising reasonable priced. If you chose "A la Carte Menu" then you will experience the Top End Restaurant at his best!!
Alfonso
First class one of the best. This restaurant is still one of the best fine dining restaurants in Australia<br/> I frequently dine across Austraia both for business and socially and find that this restaurant has maintained a standard that few restaurants can match . For me it is important to know that a high standard will always prevail and with a larger than usual menu selection it is fist class<br/>love it and have continued to dine there at least every 4 to 6 weeks both with clients and socially
Emil
Overpriced, no pizza no Cezar salad 75$ per person for nothing didn't drink wine!Never ever again
Todd
Rudest staff in Perth. I eat out a lot at various places, both at the upper end of the scale as well as the mid range keel but this place has the worst service an rudest staff of any restaurant I have vet been to. The service is averagely slow and when you ring up to make a booking they speak to you as if they are doing you a favour. I never mind paying top prices for good food and service but this place has neither. The absolute finality to us dining at the 2nd rate restaurant was when we bought a voucher and then it turned out they were closed during a third of the vouchers availability dates. Then I tried to call to see how to redeem it and they were extremely rude and condescending. Save yourself some money and go to a mid priced restaurant like Il Ciao where you get good food and good service
Helen
This restaurant is elegant and the food is well prepared. If you appreciate the subtleness of quality you will enjoy the experience.
Kawa750
Very very disappointing. I was expect more, the service was rustic and rude, the atmosphere was good but the food not so excellent how must be in a restaurant like that and with this price.<br/>2 pax $250 with a bottle of red wine of 59$ and just one entre one main share, and dessert as well.<br/>I'm sorry but I didn't enjoyed and there are better Italian restaurant in Perth, with the price or less.
Reb
Old favorite. Surprised by many of the bad reviews for this restaurant as I find it consistently great. <br/>Highlights are the steaks, fresh pasta and grilled mushrooms. <br/>Dated decor, unfortunately, but staff were certainly friendly when I've attended business functions and dinners with family.<br/>Miss the old Campo Di Fiori and this is the next best thing.<br/>You can pay the same at a pretentious modern Australian restaurant like The Aviary and walk out hungry or worse, feeling sick, so this is good value for those seeking traditional Italian fare.<br/>Been going there for years and will be back.

Rude Rude Rude. So lets make a booking using the Jump on it voucher at what used to be a top eatery.<br/>Ring and guess what they are closed for xmas to 18/1, not an issue lets use their on line engine and book for 23/1.<br/>REceived confirmation via auto response, then phone call 17/1 to confirm advise yes and advise using a voucher, we will get back to you, nothing so ring to confirm, no not abvailable for a voucher, but I alrady have a booking so must be available.<br/><br/>Long conversations and rude brickwall attitude, explain we are the client. answer "not interested" asked if they read urban spoon reviews which are not good response' Not interested if they do not like do not come"<br/><br/>Well here is another client that will not and I hope other do likewise and stay away

Best service in perth and great food! I Would highly recommend D'Este for those occasions worth spending a little extra.

Disappointed with the food. Disappointed with the service. This is no longer the fine dining establishment it used to be.

Disappointed. I am disappointed with the food , maybe because it is the food I ordered, I did not enjoy a tasty experience from the antipasti or the veal w peppercorn n cream ..but I quit like the panna cotta w berry compote, overall,it might be too expensive for the average taste food there<br/>Maybe I am disappointed because of my initial high expectations lol

Just Don't Go There. Villa D'este used to be one of our favourite restaurants, but alas I will never go there again! It was a special occasion (my birthday) so we thought we would go again as we have always enjoyed their service and cuisine in the past. I might have put down our bad experience as an unfortunate 'off' night had not their behaviour been so unbelievably rude and arrogant. Their so called 'signature dish' - twice cooked duck was so overcooked it was tasteless and chewy & inedible. When a very lovely waitress noticed that I was not eating and had pushed my plate away, she asked me if there was something wrong. She promptly went and asked the head waiter to come to our table. He insisted there was nothing wrong with the dish and stormed off to the kitchen. He then waited until my husband had left the table momentarily, and returned to our table again to insult me. On our way out I very quietly mentioned to the manager behind the counter that I found their attitude unforgiveable, he became quite nasty, finally walked away from us with a loud comment that "we don't want people like you in our restaurant!! unbelievable!! We have eaten in restaurants all over the world from New York to Italy, London to Seattle, Scotland to Los Angeles as well as across Australia over the last 40 years, but we have never been subjected to such nasty arrogance.

De-lish. Went to Villa D'Este finally after hearing great reviews & was extremely satisfied! The entree, main & dessert was all exceptional! The service was great & same with the atmosphere. <br/>Although expensive but def worth a try...would recommend

Not worth the price! Dissapointed. The duck was overcooked, too dry tough to chew. The quail tasted funny and my husband could not eat it. I tasted it and needed to spit it out on the napkin.<br/><br/>The gnocchi was okay.<br/>Tiramisu was good.<br/>Service was okay.<br/><br/>Will not be going back.

SO disappointing. I was surprised about the reviews below because a number of people I have spoken to, agree that this is a restaurant riding on its past reputation only- it is not to be recommended.<br/>We found it very expensive (on a par with Star Anise when it was still going), the food was mediocre (my panfried blue groper was more like two small pieces of stewed fish with half a potato... for $50!), the staff were great... for the first 10mins.. then not to be seen (poured our own wine) and the manager walked around with such a look on his face - as if he REALLY did not want to be there. Won't be spending our money there again.

Tried to make a booking with the restaurant and experienced a very unpleasant phone call with the owner of the business. He should really learn to listen and maintain proper phone etiquette if he wants to maintain customers.

Pretense is alive and well. To put it briefly, visiting Villa D'Este was an awful experience. We had literally only set foot in the door when we were told by the manager that we had 'created a problem' by bringing a pram without prior arrangement (we didn't make the booking ourselves, but it is not something that has ever been a problem at any other restaurant we have ever been to). From there we were attended to/harrassed by the excessively large and idle waitstaff, who gave off a strong air of superiority, were pushy to the point of rudeness and were unable to accommodate simple requests like bringing our mains and entrees out at the same time so that we could get home before the baby lost his patience. <br/><br/>As far as ambience goes, the noise in the dining room was as loud as being in a light aircraft, the decor was characterised by '80's-era levels of excess and aimed squarely at the nouveau riche, and the music made you feel like you were on hold with an electricity provider.<br/><br/>All of this would have been forgiven had the food been up to scratch. It wasn't. The natural oysters were good, but that doesn't score you any points. For mains I ordered the buckwheat and pancetta pasta and my wife ordered the atlantic salmon pasta. Both were robbed of any subtlety by the excessive use of butter and salt, and the buckwheat in particular was stodgy and clumped together, which is hard to take when you consider that you are paying over $30 for entree sizes. <br/><br/>All I can say is that it is depressing that the market for overpriced, average food in unpleasant surrounds masquerading as fine dining is so strong, or else Villa D'Este wouldn't exist.

Prestige at a price. Highlights<br/>- busy on a Monday night<br/>- sense of dining like royalty<br/>- the wine waiter who "destuffed" the whole place<br/>- seafood entrees which tasted as good as they looked<br/>Lowlights<br/>- a great looking veal cutlet that just wasn't fresh<br/>- the over cooked duck with over reduced sauce<br/>- not having the wine we ordered and then having to struggle through the "equivalent" wine that was suggested<br/>Comment<br/>- for the price you want the chef to have gone shopping that morning and cooked the meal just before its handed to you<br/>Ambience: Beauty (4) the Beast (4.5)<br/>Service: Beauty (4.5) the Beasr (4)<br/>Food: Beauty (3.5) the Beast (3)<br/>Value: Beauty (3.5) the Beast (3)

Lovely experience. We like to eat out and try new restaurants, and Villa D'Este has been on our wish list for a while. As we have no babysitter we always have to take our 11 year old, but he is very well behaved so it isnt a problem as far as far as we are concerned. To date, everwhere we have been has been a dream when it comes to kids, treating Zack like a small adult. Villa D'Este was no exception. Service was top notch, the food was lovely, we had the garlic prawns. grilled fish, Italian sausage with polenta, and the veal, everything was beautifully presented and the silver service was a nice touch. Thank you to all of the staff who helped to make our night such a good one, especially on such a busy night. Pricey, yes, but worth it, as we were celebrating. A 10 out of 10.

Very disappointing. Tried the twice cooked duck and the veal with prosciutto for main. Duck was TERRIBLE (tough, dry, flavourless) while the veal was ok. Neither dish worthy of the $50 price tags. Air dried beef for entre was also nothing special considering the over $30 price tag. <br/><br/>Decor is dated and a little tacky. Service was not great with the attitude of some staff simply rude.<br/><br/>Why pay top dollar for poorly prepared traditional Italian food in a not-so-special environment?

RUDE!. This was a disgrace, we had booked during the day for two for a Saturday night out, We were then told about an online voucher by someone which we purchased.<br/><br/>When we turned up we were told that if we had not told them we had a voucher when we booekd we coudnt use it. What appeared to be the manager and his staff member then had a fight in front of us about whether we were welcome or not..... safe to say we just walked out!!!<br/><br/>I will not go back here

Always good. Had lunch here last week and as always the servcie was sublime and the food totally gorgeous, you won't be disappointed

I love Villa D'Este. My husband and I dine here once every couple of weeks and we are always treated with courtesy and great service. The food is fantastic. The closest to 'authentic' Italian that we've found since visiting Italy. Highly recommended.

Nice food but very expensive. Poor service by our waiter.

Mrs Very Disappointed. Out w friends on 22/1/11 and was expecting a lot from this all time favorite Perth Italian "Fine Dining" restaurant. Well Firstly the service was totally off the mark. Nice mannered waiters but slow to respond w the essentials you expect from fine dining. I ordered the Morton Bay Bug for entree they had no flavor cause they were swimming in cream. And suckling pork for main which was the special for the night, "not special at all" it looked like dog bones on a plate. I didn't know where to start. I can give them credit for desserts, they were classic Italian desserts "tasty". However my tea cup got whisked away before I finished my pot of tea. For $275 per couple, and not much alcohol consumed. Totally overpriced!! Never again.

How can a twice cooked $49 duck be tough and why was the $45 pork belly served without the sauce. I would love to tell you about dessert but after waiting 30 mins for our order to be taken we gave up and left. I love a 5 star silver service resturant where the waiters can get away with a bit of snobery but only when it's earnt, and here it certainly wasn't. First and last time for us.

Catch up with the Times. I have been to this restaurant several times over the years and highly rated it. I visited again recently and was shocked at how they are stuck in the past. Service was great, but the food was basically simple Cafe style food at fine dining prices. IF you want to charge those prices no problem, but give me something that will blow me away. Wouldnt go back
Hungy Hungry Hippo
Over priced. I don't mind what I pay as long as it reflects the food, service and atmosphere. To put it simply, the service was ok, atmosphere was ok, but food was dismal. There is no way it should be so expensive. There are many other top restaurants that far surpass Villa D'este and they are not as expensive. Very disappointed!! It could be great. Perhaps a new head chef could turn the place around.

Sadly, I didn't enjoy my experience. While reminding me of the old Campo D'Fiori in Applecross from 10 years ago, unfortunately the service was unattentive, the Duck way over cooked, dry and tough, the coffee burnt and bitter; I'm dissapointed becasue the memories of Campo we're quite pleasant.

I have been dining at Villa D'Este for a decade and the food is almost always magnificent. The service too is great, but the music is usually unspeakably bad. Go for the home made pasta.

Firstly, let's bring a bit of context into this blog review about a restaurant which had once been one of the 'oldest' and most respectable Italian restaurants in the West Perth neighbourhood. I do recall dinning here more than a decade ago and loving the food and service. Sadly, this time around ... nothing lived up to expectations - except maybe the Chianti Classico. But then, since I had very little to eat, this would be all relative. Additional context, I am a self-claimed foodie and I am particular about my food. I eat out quite a lot and have tried restaurants from street side stalls to high end Michelin starred restaurants here and overseas. Short summary: Food: 1 out of 5 stars Service: 0 out of 5 stars Ambience: 3 out of 5 stars (this is if you exclude food and service, I'm only counting the decor & lighting). Full neko paws DOWN on this restaurant. Don't go there! *** Let me set the scene. This is to for a family dinner to celebrate my mother's birthday. The booking was via D

A number of weeks ago in an attempt to adhere to our wedding budget I had purchased a Spreets coupon for Villa D’Este. It was a very good deal: a three course meal for two for only $99. Quite a few years ago our bank took us out for dinner here. We all had a wonderful meal back then so I figured that this place had some potential to be a much better coupon experience than our previous recent outings.

The food is good traditional Italian fare and with the addition of a rotisserie and wood fired oven, the menu extends to specials like the piglet which is cooked on the rotisserie and finished in the wood fired oven

I heard buffalo mozzarella and was sold. And it was incredible! Quite possibly the hugest portion of cheese I’d ever had in an entree. Filled with tomato salsa, topped with rocket with some slices of proscuitto on the side, then a splash of vinno cotto. Oh the flavour combination, I still smile when I think about it now.

The pronounciation of the second word of this restaurant caused such a fuss amongst us, but not more than having to share a plate of the yummiest gnocchi ever tasted in Perth EVER. In fact there was just so much fuss, fuss over the name, having to share a
