Review Arirang Korean Barbecue Restaurant - Perth

Itai Gurira
Whatever you do get the premium platter!! Value for money, and really delicious!! You get to experience most of the menu. It was such a wonderful experience especially the barbecue part, as a first time for me was a lovely experience. Fresh ingredients, great service.

It’s will make you stinky here cause there’s no range hood. And the meal looks really great and beautiful. But most of it is burned… tasted bitter and salty. The kimchi cake tasted like Takoyaki 🤣 I don’t know why hahaha. The funny thing was when I asked waitress what’s this meal. She just said “umm…I don’t know… maybe you order those?” Sorry? you don’t even know your meal??🤣 The reason I give this restaurant 3 stars is because my friend doesn’t know English much. The waiter was so patiently and friendly explained to him the meal. 😊

We had our first Korean BBQ experience here. The staff were extremely nice and supportive. The food was really delicious and we loved the vibe. Parking could be found in a secure underground carpark closer to the restaurant.

Very friendly staff, good food. Only 3 staff were on the floor running a busy dining time. There is a ground floor and a top floor too to accommodate any number of customers. Clean and safe. A very special mention to all the staff who were very patient and respectful to the customers, making it a great experience.

We got the combination $85 set. Meat was average grill was not hot enough, side dishes were tiny serves & $13 for a 400ml glass of beer that was a quater empty when served. Come on? Won't be coming back & save yourself the disappointment.

Always delicious fresh food and generous portions. The kimchi is delicious! Very friendly and helpful staff when my colleagues and I dine in. Delivery always well packaged, hot and fresh. 5 stars!

Firstly from the outside it looked quite good. However when we entered it was a disappointment to find out that the table cooktop wasn’t to be used at the time. We then ordered the stew and found the broth to be very thin, the flavour was okay but there was no depth to it compared to authentic Korean stews. overall the experience was okay, id say it was decent but not worth the price. 5.5/10. The place also needs a real good clean up and possibly steam clean as the tables and floors were quite greasy with little food scraps on the table. For a better kbbq experience I would go elsewhere

First time for dinner with friends, ordered the premium set menu. Service was quick and for $99 it was a set menu that was plenty for the three of us. Atmosphere is great and definitely would visit again

We ordered the original set menu which included entrees, sides and the meat combo. The staff had only turned on the gas when the meat arrived. The waitress proceeded to place all the meat and vegetables, crowding the grill, on a cold hotplate which stewed our meal. We notified the manager who tried to rectify the situation by turning on and off the gas and fiddling our food on the hotplate. They did not offer any other hotplate or seating, nor did they offer to replace the stewed food. We did not find this was worth $100 and mentioned we would prefer to leave. The manager guided us to the counter to which the full $100 meal was billed and we mentioned we were not paying for a meal we did not eat. He proceeded to deduct the set menu and added each consumed item (which were the entrees), separately at the full price. The manager then asked us “what we thought was an agreeable price to pay”. Definitely will not be returning after this terrible experience.

Always enjoy coming here. Excellent service, kind staff, and the place is run efficiently. In the many times I have dropped by I haven't been disappointed. The food is great and not over priced. Your never left waiting too long for your food to come. The street food platter is a must and chefs best set is a good choice if you want a variety of meats. For those who like to indulge themselves the Heauende Sunrise cocktail is a must!

Was a great meal, such a different experience of so many delishous dishes, and the staff are friendly and very welcoming, great service I recommend anyone going here, you won’t regret it,definate thumbs up

absolutely ridiculous that bar that there London, it's hard to come across a korean bbq joint in England. this place is nothing short of sensational.

Took my wife and kids for a walk and ended up bumping into this place. So glad we did!! The staff were very friendly and the kids loved the food as did the parents 👍Would definitely come here again 👏

Good place and delicious food but the staff is not too friendly and mainly the man at counter acted being very rude and arrogant. Should learn how to show respect and politeness for everybody!

Absolutely loved the food and the service was top quality. Second visit was just as good as the first 😊

Staff were very helpful food was amazing prices were fantastic travelled all the way into the city From woodvale and it was definitely worth the trip 👍🏻

Absolutely charming spot. Went out for my sisters birthday expecting the usual typical little shop and found a wonderfully hosted restaurant with respectful staff and amazingly tasty food :) highly recommending the Korean BBQ sets big thumbs up!

Travelled to the city just to have lunch here with a friend after seeing it pop up on facebook. I really enjoyed the food and cost us under $20 each. Lovely service. I was a little disappointed though. Lifted up the lids of the cooking plates on our table out of curiosity and found it had not been cleaned & around the edge of the tables weren't clean. We were first in when they opened for lunch so no reason why it should be dirty. Not good hygiene practices. reason only given a 3 star rating.

We ordered the $74 for two.. the only good thing I could say was the Lettuce was great

This was our first experience at Korean BBQ. We loved it. The food was fabulous and the service was so friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be back 😊😋👍🏼

Delicious food and friendly service. Highly recommend

Food and ambiance are good. staffs needs to be more friendly/ approachable, most of them are not even smiling and they looked so serious. Lol
Stella Lamonaca
Went there twice , first time the waiter was absolutely amazing and very helpful and polite. Second time I went different waiters and waitresses giving me backchat and being disgustingly rude. The food was always very tasteful and amazing , but some of the crew needs to work on their customer service. They didn’t even finish taking our order and they left , when I asked to continue my order they rolled their eyes and asked if we even bothered to order. Definitely will not be visiting again.

Ordered the original set but was a little disappointed. The dumplings and honey chicken was average, didn’t really enjoy the flavours. The sides - Eg. pickled vege and Kimchi tasted a little soggy and not very fresh. The beef and pork had a really nice marinade and cooked really well on the grill. Although, the grill was not hot enough at times and boiled the meat in places. The chicken marinade was good but the pieces were to big and thick which took too long to cook. Would only order beef and pork next time rather than getting a whole ‘set’.

A very good restaurant, the food was quite delicious, especially the dessert! The staff was kind and offered to assist with the bbq food, also giving us advice on how to properly and evenly cook it. The restaurant decor is also very pleasing. Unfortunately, the price was a tad on the high side, but all in all, I would definitely recommend this.

🍲 We happened upon Arirang while looking for a spot in the city for lunch. As soon as we walked in to the establishment our mouths started watering (oh, the yummy smells) and a busy place had to mean the food couldn’t be too bad. We were acknowledged quickly and a table was promptly cleared and cleaned for us so we could sit down. Lunch menus and ordering followed and food and drinks arrived shortly after.
(Lunch) menu was a range of meats with rice - we took a stab in the dark and ordered via a guess. Very yummy food.
🍷Bar inside of you fancy a beer, wine or spirit with your meal. We stuck with a soft drink each that came in big glasses with lots of ice.
💵 We ordered Bibimap upgrades each for $12.50 +$3, great value, we couldn’t quite finish our meals. Very happy with our delicious meals.
🙋🏻‍♀️Service was good. Staff were courteous and we even had a waitress explain how the bibimap and condiments “worked”, which I appreciated.
🍃 Very dark inside (we were at back of restaurant) and menu was hard to read because of the lighting. Decor was a little daggy and the bar area looked tired.
👨‍👩‍👦‍👦 Bring a sandwich for the little ones unless they like rice or “adventurous” food.
🚘 Right in the city so park where you can and walk, or train in and walk 10 mins.
👍🏻 Overall, we enjoyed our food. Would come back again.

I've never ever had bad tasting Korean food so obviously the food here was tasty. However, I went with 2 other friends and we spent $90! Which is so expensive. We weren't even full afterwards. If you've never been to any other Korean restaurants, the food here would be really good but I've been to quite a few and this place definitely does not make the top 5 ( the sides were small and limited)
Maryyyqn
Food was the only thing decent here, service was ok maybe because I wasn’t expecting much for Perth. Ambience of this place needs work. First Korean bbq I went to with no proper ventilation
Kayla Marie Richter
Fantastic and delicious food! the service is okay, happens to be the odd occasion of bad service. the drinks menu is always exciting... Little sad they give such little kimchi haha.
Authenticity
Thai shrimp paste in Seafood Tofu soup. $19 a pop could do with more than one shrimp. The side dishes had been left out for sometime. The point is for customer service.

what a nice restaurant. you must try korean bbq on your table yourself. tab beer and wine.... or BYO wine.

smell is nice...taste is better...
Alex Strickland
First time trying Korean BBQ, and I was really impressed. Food tasted amazing (even though we cooked it ourselves)! I especially would recommend the Korean dumplings and the honey popcorn chicken. The bulgogi beef was our favourite meat out of the three we tried, but the chicken and pork were also very tasty.

The service was also awesome! The servers regularly replaced our cooking plate when the sauce from the meat got too burnt on the bottom, and were very friendly.

We all left feeling very satisfied (and stuffed!) We will definitely be returning.
Phil
Probably the best Korean BBQ I've had in a long time. Can't fault anything from my meal - highly recommended! Fried chicken was a particular highlight.

Updated review 21/10/18. We went there last weekend for dinner. Ordered the Original Package. It starts with honey chicken (amazing and soooo much better than the typical honey chicken that you get in Chinese restaurants) and vegetable dumplings. So yum! Then you get chicken, beef and chili pork (my favorite), which we chose to cook ourselves. The only disappointment was that the waiter put EVERYTHING on the bbq at once, so it took ages to cook. The beef was very stringy, which is probably because it stewed rather than grilled. Still a great experience. Next time I go I’ll just tell them not to put everything on the grill..

3/9/17 Awesome food and the best service. We had our first Korean BBQ experience here today and loved it!! Not only was the food delicious but the wait staff were so friendly and helpful. We got the mixed grill for the adults and honey soy chicken for our son. Absolutely amazing!! Can't wait to go back!!
Te Paea-Mei Ririnui-Hennings
Great food, been here quite a few times and the food has always been tasty, pricey, but very tasty. Service and wait staff can be very poor with awkwardly long waiting times to place your order. Also, please stop staring at me while I eat.
Bonnie Hondros
The food was lovely. Its always fun to experience cooking your own foods on the coals. The flavour and marinades on the meats where also delicious. We also ordered dumplings and honey chicken. The food came relatively quickly and the staff where extremely friendly, always coming to check how we where and if we needed assistance with the hot plate.
My only criticism is the seating felt a bit uncomfortable and we where assigned a table which was a bit isolated. Overall a really fun night.

I've been dining in this place for at least 4 times for lunch. Having a toddler in a stroller this place serves the space! I've always have someone passed by the entrance to help me move our stroller up to the steps. Made my day! (The only downside, they don't have a ramp). And staffs are very friendly too.

Of course, I'm happy with their lunch special menu. Very generous portion, you can even share the dish and add an extra plain rice. Had beef short ribs last week and yum! Couldn't be more happy with the portion and the price I've paid. Oh they accept Amex, another thumbs up. Lol

Ordered takeaway Bulgogi , fried honey chicken and chilli beef. All bland and poor quality. Bulgogi lacked sauce and was very dry. Honey chicken was okay but a felt a little mushy towards the end as did the chilli beef.
Haha Kim
As usaul we have received fantastic service tonight.
Great meals and good location with my best friends.
I will try something diffrent menu next time.

Great food, fast service and nice enough atmosphere. Price was a little on the steep side, however nothing over the top for Perth. BBQ Beef and Chicken were well cooked and very enjoyable.
Reynaldo
Good food, good experience, but a bit expensive.

We ordered the bulgogi beef, the 3 layer pork belly, and kimchi stew which costed us $75. The best thing with this place is you can request them to cook for you incase you don't want the trouble. Both the beef and pork belly were good, however the kimchi stew is too small for 20 dollar.

Both meat came with side dishes. Wrap the meat inside the lettuce, add the kimchi and sauces, and you are ready to go!

We were invited by Michael Kocken, the new Director of Marketing of Arirang Korean BBQ. The restaurant was holding a new menu tasting which involved a lot of cheese in it. Arirang has been around since I was in junior high school which was in 1999. Back then it was one of the most expensive restaurants in town especially because I was still living on a student budget. This was one thing that I brought up to Michael's attention. He said Arirang used to be expensive but not anymore since other restaurants increased their price.

We had a huge booking so were seated upstairs, biggest gripe would be it gets extremely smoky from the barbeque, they need a better ventilation system. I got the street food platter - tasty and had a nice variety. The fire chicken cheese is exactly what you sign up for. Friends were unhappy with the barbeque at $48 pp, priced much lower in other places. I guess with the convenient location they can get away with it.
Cherry Yu
I love the one in morley instead the one in city. the food was great and fast, expecially the bibimbap, I love the taste! The one in morley charge good price for the bibimbap

Really enjoyed our experience at this place. Food was delicious, and at a reasonable price for Korean food in Perth. It was quite busy when we went, but staff was very friendly and attentive, whilst food came extremely quick. I went with a medium sized group and they all shared the same view. Would definitely come again!

I was particularly fond of the KBBQ 3-layered Pork Belly and my all time favourite Kimcheese Fried Rice *Drool*.
Kylie-Bre
I love the Kim Chi stew at the food court locations so decided to take my husband to try the full menu at the restaurant in Barrack St and was not disappointed. We ordered the street food platter, bbq meat mix and the Kim Chi Stew and it was all amazing. The Soju Pear cocktail was delicious also. Service was a little slow but it was busy so we weren't too bothered. Hard to pick a favourite out of all the dishes we tried and there was plenty more on the menu that looked equally tasty. Overall a very pleasing dinner, prices were good and we are definitely planning on heading back next time we are in the City.

We have been coming here for many years, a great family owned business. Staff are always very helpful to use the barbecue, very comfortable atmosphere great for a family dinner. Meats were delicious and we especially like the Fried honey chicken and the pork belly.
Kudokun
DECENT korean restaurant in the heart of CBD surrounded by a number of desserts place just next door. Price is good, they even have the daily lunch menu and the daily special lunch menu (1 item at a reduced price just for that particular day).

I tried the honey chicken bbq with rice (add $3 and you get assorted korean side dishes and miso soup which is quite worth-it if you are into those). The honey chicken bbq with rice was on special that day at $9.90 which is a bargain. The meat is soft for some, but relatively hard for few bits here and there, but they are very generous with the sauce making the overall taste good.

Downside is the serving time which is a bit slow which is not ideal for a quick lunch break during office hours. Although perhaps that is a good sign that they cook their meat fresh!

Love the place, the food and the staff, love the BBQ it's fun and enjoyable, myself and my partner come here often , we go home very happy .

We came here for dinner 1 night and it probably was our last visit. The venue was nice with a warm atmosphere, service was good and attentive but the food was way too over-priced. $20 for a simple bibimbap you can get elsewhere for $11/$12? It tasted good but definitely not worth the price tag.
Elsie C
Love the bibmbap and sitting by the window to do some lunch time people watching! I've been here many times and the food is always tasty and fresh. The ambiance of the venue is pleasant warm lighting and staff have always been friendly.

Went here ordered korean bbq. Bulgogi and the steak (not sure about the name) bulgogi was my fvorite. Rich of flavour. Great customer service too, they always asked about our needs. Great!
Some Like It Hot
Based on my experience only it wasn't good. Ordered the honey chicken, terrible and had to send it back as overdone with burnt taste. Second attempt slightly better but didn't eat it. The japchae with beef was pretty bad. Service was good and my friends appeared to enjoy theirs. I wouldn't go back.
Stu
We had lunch here a few weeks ago and enjoyed it, so went back for dinner last night. I had the dolsot bibimbap, which was very yummy. Unfortunately a couple of our group had the self-cook bbq. They waited over an hour for it to arrive, which is ludicrous as it doesn't even require cooking first. The rest of us had finished eating before theirs even arrived, and then they had to start cooking. The restaurant was only half full so their excuse of being too busy was hard to swallow. Unfortunately it ruined the experience. We probably won't be back.
Alfred
A higher class Korean restaurant which from the name and the decoration you feel some difference. However, the food is not quite outstanding. Service is OK. They have a wine by glass buy one get one free on that night was quite a good deal.
Julie Feng
went there for lunch today. It was the worst lunch I have had. Ordered Korean Ramen, and got instant noodle. The beef tasted like cloth. It says on the menu No MSN added. I was SO thirsty after having that noodle that I drank 3 glasses of water. I paid $10.90 for a bowl of instant noodle. Service was very bad too. Will never go there again !
Izzy Alyce
Went here with my partner for lunch today. Had the lunch specials, honey chicken and beef bibimbap. I was hoping my bibimbap would be better than the one I got in the raine square food court, though sadly it wasn't. The only difference was they gave me some chilli which added to the flavour a bit. I personally have cooked Beef bibimbap (Pete Evans recipe) and I much prefer that version. The ingredients don't taste very fresh, the beef is tough and chewy. It's not nearly as flavoursome or wonderful as the one I've cooked myself. My partners honey chicken was good however, nothing special but decent. They were also quite polite here as far as service goes.
Vanessa
I came here using a groupon voucher, and was excited as I had never eaten at this particular Korean BBQ restaurant. Unfortunately, the upstairs room had little ventilation so the smoke from everyone's hot plates was suffocating and made our eyes water. The portions looked over, but the slices of meat were very thin and by the time we had gone through five different types of meats, we still weren't full.
F4fitfunfoodfly
Unlimited side dishes. Mainly veges eg zucchini, bean sprouts, potatoes in their jackets and Kimchee!. The kitchen can BBQ the food for you and bring it out. We had beef, beef ribs and pork. Rather then cook for ourselves because we were discussing work we got the kitchen to cook all the meats for us.

Went to the city for the Food Markets on Friday night, whilst the smell and atmosphere were amazing and brought back twangs of an Asian holiday, the prices and quality were ridiculous, so much so that we went for a walk and came across Arirang BBQ, the place was pretty busy but they fitted us in, we ordered the mixed meat and mixed seafood BBQ set menus and a pot of green tea.The tea was brought out almost at once, that was very closely followed by our table being setup for the BBQ.The food came out within 10 minutes after the table was set, and it looked amazing. While we cooked we had our Miso, which I have to say, while simple, was outstanding, one of the best we have had anywhere. The food was brilliant, and there is no way we could even try and fault the service, it was very friendly, fast and most welcome.Thank you for saving what would have been an otherwise dismal nightGary

Nice Night out. Staff was friendly and helpful. It was a bit pricey (especially considering the large amount of cheap Korean restaurants just around the corner and even on the same street) but the food was good and way too much :) might be back again one day.

Decided to have some warm Korean food to beat the chill today and ended up at Arirang with some friends. We were seated straight away and had our orders taken about 10 minutes later.

The staff seemed indifferent about having customers in the restaurant, we spent about 5 minutes trying to flag down a wait staff who either refused to look up or look in our direction (this is when all their customers were seated in the same corner of the restaurant).

The food was pretty yum when it arrived but I must admit, I loved the condiments more. The spicy pork was yum and kept sizzling away on the hot plate.

Overall, would come back for the food but not the service.
M.elisa
Delicious authentic Korean food. Bulgogi pork or beef is one of my favourite dishes and it always reminds me of my tip to south korea when my friends mother prepared this for me. Always happy to dine there. Great service.
Hadrienne Saunders
Came here with a large group for a birthday, we ordered a bunch of starters and and a variety of meats and vegetables to self cook. The food was really nice, the kimchi pancake we had for a starter was lovely and the chicken we cooked on the hotplate combined with the sauces provided was delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive. I agree with other reviewers that this place is a bit on the pricey side compared to other Korean BBQs, but the price wasn't unreasonable. Had a very nice dinner and would come back.
Kelvin Ching
Ordered a seafood soup for two, had mussels, squids, tofu, prawns, bean sprouts, veggies and I thought it's a shame it didn't add any canned meats and tok to furnish the stew. Came with side dishes which I enjoyed the kimchi and cucumbers. Had Mak Ko Li rice wine as well but overall, the experience could have been better in terms of the food taste. Definitely not the best Korean food in town. Prices are high probably due to it being in CBD.
JO
Went here for the Korean BBQ. Meats were delicious and fresh and there were a great variety of sides. However for the quantity we got, the food is very overpriced here. Service was ok but could have been better.
Girecitee
Arirang Korean BBQ. The best Asian food I have eaten on my holiday here in Perth. Not disappointing at all. It was so good I had to leave a tip.
Pandorabiol
Pricy and limited options on menu. With this kind of price, you would expect high quality of food or at least large quantity of food, but neither. We ordered seafood pancake, which was practically spring onion pancake with no sign of seafood. BBQ was so-so, and marinate sauce was not that great (in their word "heavenly"). might as well just go to a cheaper place.
Lauren_kate
Terrific BBQ bulgogi! BBQ your own meat for that extra fun. All their meat are marinated so well, it's excellent! Service staff can be a bit unfriendly and don't speak English well but it's still passable. Been here several times before and will be back again!
Roo
Surprisingly like it. I've heard a lot of bad/average reviews for Arirang but I'm one of the few who really like the food here. First time here I got the samgyupsal (pork belly) thinking we would be grilling it ourselves. It came out already cooked for us. It was tough, sliced WAY too thick and just very hard to eat. That was the worst thing I've ordered but everything else has been delicious. I've only ever ordered the noodle broth dishes and they have all been consistent and flavorful. My mum especially loves the jjampong (spicy seafood) and the mandu (dumpling) noodle one (can't remember the exact name) was my favorite. The thick cut flour noodles are so more-ish. They are so good. I think people should take a look at the noodle-broth dishes instead they're highly underrated.
Joe Handoko
Not bad at all. Haven't been to Arirang for years .. decided to have lunch there last Friday. I have to say that I quite like it. Customer service isn't the best (typical Korean restaurant?) But if you could look past that ...

Ordered the spicy beef rice set .. goodness me ... are beef price really low now? I got this huge serving of it which I almost could not finish (and that's rare for me!). Not because it's too spicy, because it's too much! Taste pretty good too.

Wife ordered Bibimbap .. which she quite enjoyed. We also ordered a seafood pancake, which we think is one of the best we've had.

Overall, I give my experience a 7.5 / 10.
Qcdc
Food is average, price is quite high for what you get.
Irwan
Bad customer service. Asking staff with combination no carrot due to personal diet n alergic, but staff refused to give. been as regular customer for a while, but very upset with the service today. will not come back!!!

Worst Korean BBQ in Perth>>Poor services & too expensive.. Absolutately the worst place to eat Korean food. The food were so expensive that you think you are in a 5 stars restaurant. The staffs were rude and turned off the gas without asking whether you have finished cooking. Value for food.>>zero. I will never to come again.
Ysh50hk
Pricy, not tasty, and poor services.. They really need some changes in their management and products. Even though it's placed in the best spot in perth city, nobody will go at the end of the day if they charge too much on nothing.
Yesica Alfonso
Terrible place to visit. Definitely not its money's worth. The waiters could not communicate well, the food was expensive and of a very lacking of portion and flavour. Everyone left displeased.
Christine Sutherland
These guys must have really lifted their game. I wasn't looking forward to dining at Arirang because of all the negative reviews here on Urbanspoon, and when we got there it turned out the person who booked it had meant to book elsewhere.

We selected the Meat Banquet and were gobsmacked by what turned up on our table.

We were all completely impressed with:

The sheer amount of food: It's not cheap ($39 per head for the banquet) but neither is it in any way expensive for what you get. No way could we finish it.

The quality of the food. Tasty, intriguing, interesting, so much variety especially with all the remarkable little condiment dishes around the main plate, tender, flavour-soaked, beautiful in appearance.

The service: Not fast (dinner time) and we didn't want fast. It was a much-looked-forward to family get together. We booked for 6.30 and left at 9.00, having spent at least an hour over tea/coffee. Very friendly, smiling, helpful. One staff member even chased us down the footpath to deliver a doggie bag one of us left behind. Really nice people.

One complaint: The $7 per bottle corkage fee is pretty outrageous.

We all agreed we would love to dine there again, and since my husband was missing from this event, we'll certainly go back together so he can experience it also.

Convenient to get to: Perth traffic is pretty abominable these days and it was really nice to be able to take the train, hopping off at Perth Underground for a pleasant stroll down Murray St Mall and left into Barrack.

Reading through all the negative comments here I find it hard to believe that people have had such bad experiences, or that the restaurant was ever that bad. I can only give it 9.5 out of 10 (deducting half a point for the exhorbitant corkage charge).
FARMERdroo
Pretty good. Tasty
Frank
I thought the restaurant was nice and clean (although the toilets smelt like 1 week old rotting seafood.... not sure if toilets or storage area next to it!)

The food isn't bad although the cuts of meat aren't what I would expect given the cost. It's probably a sad indication on the quality of Korean restaurants that this one is the best of a bad lot.

I gave it a "like" purely because it is nice decor, the fact that the sets that come with the food are actually half decent... and I've never had a problem with service.
John Lee
Thumbs down.. Years ago I first came here and o rated them 5 out of 10.

Ten years later, they're still the same in standard.
Deimante.krinickaite
I liked it. Me and my partner ordered beef bulgogi sets and they were wonderful! And not overpriced at all. 13.90 for a set. I think it's very reasonable.
Eatingspoons
Very average and expensive. It's not worth going here unless you have no other option for food. The service is really bad and slow. The food is overpriced and very average. We ended up here because we couldn't get a table elsewhere.
DG
I actually liked the food but it is so overpriced and as everyone else mentioned - terrible customer service.
Clayton Barrington
Great value lunch sets!!! Very tasty! Can't wait to try dinner here!!
Food_Whisperer
The food and service was terrible considering the high price for the meal. I ordered the bimbimbap and a selection of meats for the barbeque. Although the bimbimbap was pretty average the down side was the meats. We specifically ordered the meats so we can cook it ourselves, but the waitress was confused and thought we wanted it precooked. So after we recieved the wrong order we kindly asked if we could exchange it for item that we actually wanted. However the waitress consistently urged that we should accept it and offered us free drinks. We declined and asked for the exchange. The waitress then asked the chef for the exchange and he said no because he had already cooked it. After some discussion we finally recieved the correct order. But as we recieved it, we were ignored for the rest of our stay there. No one came and took our empty dishes away or refilled our water. Additionally the pork belly which we ordered had no flavour whatsoever. Poor customer service and below average food. Do not recommend.

Arirang - An Abomination of God. Arirang - 1/10, barely worth a spit on.
I have tried most of the Korean BBQ restaurants in Perth. When I came here, I was open palm slapped by how bad it was..
Condiments x 4 the size of 50 cent coins, extra? $5 please sir!
Meat - Barely edible, fatty, chewy, thin slices of cardboard.
Service, was good actually, but he could see the broken man in my eyes and it hurt him.
I calmly told the manager I would have to review his restaurant negatively for this evenings meal. He said nothing, and handed me my receipt. BIG MISTAKE
Shaun
Good quality food, even able to get your Kimchi with a little extra zing just the way it should be.
Serene Teo
Customer service was really terrible. The worst attitude you would expect from a waitress. This is what that happened. Me and two other friends decided to try out this restaurant despite it having quite a low rating on urbanspoon. The usual thing, we went and sat ourselves down, later on given the menu to browse through. After viewing, my friend ordered a bibimbap since she was the only one who needed her lunch as we already had our meal earlier on. The waitress having taken her order, stunned and said :" a bibimbap?" My friend said yes, one. The waitress were like one?! For the three of you?! Just one?
That was the most humiliating statement ever. Doesn't mean that we didn't have the money to eat, it's just that we've eaten! We were really disgusted by that attitude if hers and boy we decided :" no next time!"

RUDE. Some of the rudest customer service I have ever experienced. Please hire new waitresses if you are expecting people to pay this amount for their meal. Much better Korean food down the Wellington Street end of Barrack Street (and much cheaper and more cheerful too).

Enjoyable Meal.. This is my third time here as I love korean food. The food I must say is tasty and enjoyable. Service is ok but could be better. Portions are small so order more if you're hungry. I would come more often if it wasn't so pricy.

Came to perth for holidays, saw a reataurant fill with people, went in to realise the Snoty staff, tasteless food, staff lack ability to explain things, paid for over priced side dishes that is tastess and the kim chi is full of garlic taste, generally tasteless food, and probably the first and last time i will pay for side dishes, i have never seen any korean restaurant that requires customers to pay for the side dishes.

Don't go if you're in a hurry!. I went to Arirang for lunch with a friend. It was a Friday lunch time, and they were reasonably busy (we were seated upstairs, which hasn't been open the previous two times I've been). There seemed to be plenty of staff on, however. To cut a long story short, it was almost an hour after we sat down that my meal finally arrived, and a good 10 minutes after my friend's meal did - surely a little co-ordination is possible??? This was not what I needed after making the mistake of taking the bus in to get there (another horror story).
The food was fine when it finally did arrive (I had spicy pork and rice). The waitresses were a bit snooty as well, so in all it added up to pretty poor service.

Overpriced, arrogant staff, tasteless food. Will never be going back here again. We were sweating like animals due to the heat from the open-grill tables, and the smoke was awful - it almost tipped off my partner's asthma. The service was terrible - I had to ask for my glass to be filled over ten times. Both myself and my partner left feeling ill. Very disappointed.

Expensive Barbeque. Two friends and I went to this restraunt. it was my first time at trying Korean and it nearly was my last! I am willing to try new foods and new cultures. I thought barbequing your own food is a restraunt was odd but what the hey! but to be charged $70 a head for cooking our own meal is below the belt!! i would hate to think what they would charge if they were to cook it for us and it was not that great either. better to have a barbeque in the backyard its cheaper! Would not go back again!!

Decent quality food and good variety. Have gone twice and had differing experiences, first went for lunch on a weekend (no set lunch available) and the chilli beef was very good with a bonus that they offered to grill it for us instead of do it yourself, second time ordered bulgogi beef for weekday set lunch and felt the food was already a bit cold as if it had been sitting around for some time. I prefer Arirang's outlet at the Raine Square food court. Haven't tried the cook you own over the grill as Bulgogi Bbq on Hay Street is our usual bbq spot

Disappointing. Took advantage of the Eat Drink Perth voucher to try out Arirang. We ordered the seafood banquet and the meta banquet to share. it wasn't really much of a banquet. The entree was one small dish per banquet but both were very tasty. The same can't be said for the mains. We took the option of the chef cooking as it was late and we didn't fancy a smoky end to the evening. The meat was overall very bland not helped much by the condiments. The seafood was also disappointing. There were 3 prawns that had been barbecued but had no flavour- well not a pleasant one. There were 3 or 4 mussels that were jsut like they had been steamed in the shell so no flavour whatsoever. There was a generous portion of chilli seafood bu tthis was not very nice. It was very hot, which is not a problem - I like hot. But it jsut wasn't a tasty dish and the seafood - squid? was tough and chewy. Again - not an impressive serving for the $39.50 each platter.
the staff were pleasant and attentive but language is an issue. They forgot my dinner date's beer so we had to chase up. With the use of the voucher, we saved on the priceof drinks so it off-set the disappointment of lack of flavour somewhat. But wouldn't be in a rush to go back

Not the best option. I had high expectations considering its very nice decor and presentation but after booking a birthday here and also lunch (once) I was disappointed. The birthday dinner was BBQ, the meat was bland and there wasn't much either. I left the place smelling like charcoal (I have never smelt this bad after a korean BBQ ever)....better ventilation ?
I came back a few months later for a dinner with the loved one thinking that maybe second time round would do it for me.
I ordered bulgogi beef which was okay, although still quite average for its price.
Service is okay, but this was not enough to convince me to come back.
To be honest, I would recommend Tong86 or Dae Geum Jang (Northbridge).

Give it a miss. We decided to try something different in Perth and so we picked Korean BBQ. The waiter was on no help what so ever and kept disappearing. He didn't explain what the process was and the meat we cooked on the grill was bland even with all the condiments. It was pretty priced to. No going back.

Disappointed, high cost for low value. We always try out new places each week. Gave this place the benefit of the doubt as the review were mixed.

Bad move. Its expensive for what you get. Only one waiter could speak English and he was a rude man. The rest didn't understand a word of English!

The food was tastey but LOW quality meat, fatty and old. The vegis were ok...

Following this my girlfriend and I both have stomach issues today.

AVOID

If you have ever tried Korean food before DO NOT COME HERE!!! I have eaten in atleast 4-5 different Korean restaurants in Perth and this was probably the most flavourless Terrible restaurant I have ever been to they don't even supply soap in the bathrooms go down the road to Took Bae Kee 2 its Amazing there and so much cheaper. Btw the Kim chi at Arirang is Foul.
Freo Foodie
Hit and Miss. The food was lovely and the sides were delicious however the lack of any form of bread was a bit disappointing. My friends and i agreed that it was missing that to bulk it up a bit.
The service was ok.
I ordered a french martini and what i got was pure vodka with a dash of chambord. it tasted revolting. i had to order a pineapple juice and mix it myself until it was drinkable.

Been here for three times and enjoy it very much! The service is excellet and friendly. Order for korean bbq set, really good and tasty. The size of the portion have been reduce though since the first time I came here. And a bit pricey. Will definetely and always come back!
Miss Piggy
Only nice if you order more expensive items. The lunch specials are quite disappointing, but you get what you pay for.
For dinner we had the banquet, and that was very satisfying! They also provide the option of cooking it for you or DIY at the table.

So Not Worth It. Went to the restaurant for the first time, for $25 you can get 5 side dishes, bowl of rice and a set of meat to barbeque which I chose chicken. When the food came, the portions were so small, I could finish the 5 side dishes with one bite each, bowl of rice was so small and they only gave around 5 pieces of chicken... The marinated chicken didn't taste like it was marinated at all... My friend ordered kimchi hotpot, the portion was so small as well and cost around $20. Didn't even feel full afterwards and had to go for Mcdonald's. Definitely won't be coming back for the price they charge, might as well pay a few more dollars for a korean bbq buffet
RK
Its different to the Korean BBQ I know and love. Not very flavorful, didn't eenjoy im time nor the food at all and shame of all shames... ended up going across to Maccas straight after
Sawylie
Not bad.... Had the Dolsot Bibimbap @ $18. Veg, beef, (or chicken), steamed rice served hot in a stone bowl topped with a fried egg, chilli & sesame oil sauce. Mix it all up....yum. Came with kimchi and miso soup.

BAD BAD BAD!. I have had my share of authentic Korean BBQs and this is the most disappointing experience ALL-TIME.

The food was not filling. I was charged for refills of the small side-serves that need to go with the meal (e.g. kim chi) because what was given to us was not enough to compliment the large platter that we ordered. Terrible service from staff who had done too much Karaoke the night before or something. Heads in the clouds. Not worth the money. We ended up buying a proper meal elsewhere after spending $100 on a 'light meal' for 2 people. Don't do it to yourselves!
Dave
Food was good. The service was ok, but slight language difficulty.
Jon
Very good..... Modern and nice restaurant.. very tasty food.
you must try it.
bbq is very nice and fun.

Pricey place and we were both sweating with the BBQ heat. We were using vouchers so it's wasn't too painful.

Love this place! We always have the sets that you cook yourself, it's fun and it's a great clean meal, you can be full but don't feel fat, great food!!

Poor dining experience.. Most staff were not approachable. We waited for a dish for more than half an hour.

Arirang the worst ever in my life. The worst disgusting food and service in my entire life.i went there today and sooooooodossapointed with food nd service.will not go backand guys please do no try soooooo horrible tasteeeeeee.disgusting low cheap grade meats

Expensive, poor service. A group of 50 of us went there for lunch. The waitresses looked stunned and wandered around with platters of food without putting them on the tables. The poor vegetarians got a small entree and some slices of onion, tomato, pumpkin and carrot for $29.50 - not OK!! My hair stinks of smoke - at least I feel like I've been camping in the bush! I don't think you can get away with this sort of food and service any longer. I won't be returning. - nor will the other 49!

Really nice food. Waitress very helpful as it was our first time using the BBQ. Highly recommended. Good value.

A great all-round experience. Cooking the meal on the in-table hot plate was enjoyable and the meat and seafood was tasty and tender. Good value as well.

Arirang. Authentic Korean BBQ restaurant. The food was great, after so long I didn't the Korean bbq, this place was a great place. I was given a voucher to use and it was really good value for money. We had combination mean and seafood on the bbq as well as entree.

Money well worth spent.

Not Bad. Food is Good, Service average.

Had a scoop, without one its overpriced, rather go to Tong.

Novelty value-good food. For some reason I get a certain novelty value in cooking the meal myself in a restaurant. Lets face it, in all bbq, the time is all taken in the preparation. I really enjoyed the experience!

The variety of meats used in the sets were well marinated, along with an extensive amount of vegetables to go with the meats. And yes...I would go there again.

Great tasting lunch. The lunch at Arirang is phenomenal. At $13.95 I ordered the soy chicken set. It is as filling as it is healthy. Great taste and service. One of the best places to eat out for lunch!

Nothing nice to say

Average quality that is compensated by the hip layout of the restaurant though somewhat lacking in authenticity. But let's face it, the food is the deciding factor and this place failed to deliver. 5.75/10

The staff were excellent considering we arrived only an hour before closing time. The entrees were tasty, the bulgogi meat dish was tender though there was an overdose of vegetables. I enjoyed my meal and would recommend trying it once, but i wouldn't go back.

Expensive average food. There are better Korean BBQ places out there, you may as well pay that little bit extra for all-you-can-eat at Seoul.
Regular Diner
Dined alone, I went for the chef cooked BBQ which was tip top more food than one could eat, all very tasty over all very impressed service was prompt and very friendly, not a bad word to say

Arrirang in Spring '10. Aritiang has a really modern feel to it. Very trendy decor and friendly staff. the food is a little more pricey than other Korean restaurants as it mainly caters to the businees sector. I enjoyed the food. I would go again. especially if I want to treat a friend to lunch.

Great bibimbap. I recommend this restaurant to so many people, it has a really nice barbeque setup in the middle of each table that you can use if you buy at least two set meals to cook your meat.

However the reason I recommend it is the Dolsot Beef bibimbap it has to be my favorite dish . rice, vegetables and beef and a egg in a sizzling hot stone bowl cooking away as you eat. It really is a great experience, they also provide plenty of sides with each dish kimchi and miso soup.

The staff are always prompt and the food has always been of a high quality.

At the suggestion of my lunch buddy, we had lunch at Arirang today, eagerly weaving through the afternoon city crowds the Perth CBD with a hungry anticipation of rice and kimchi. If it's one thing I share with my lunch buddy, it's our love

It is a great place for you to get your families and friends together for a transitional Korean BBQ experience. They serve good range of wines and beers. However, the side dishes (kimchi, bean sprout & etc) are usually refillable without additional charges in all the Korean restaurants I have been to but it was not the case for this one. Additional $4 is requested for each refill (4 very small side dishes). Address 93 Barrack Street, Perth 6000 Tel (08) 92254855 Photos

...what do you have on a cold day like this? Hot and spicy Korean ramen, of course!!! A unanimous decision which was made in less than 5 minutes. And we were in luck as Arirang has just recently started to offer ramen on their menu. Mmm... I know it looks like a 'gourment' version of Nong Shim packet noodles but it tasted so good - there must be some secret ingredient as the Nong Shim noodles that I make do not taste as delicious! The best bit, there's an egg hidden underneath all those noodles! Served with a side of kimchi, this hot and spicy ramen costed $8. It really hits the spot during a cold day! Arirang 93 Barrack Street, Perth WA 6000 www.arirang.com.au

An enjoyable meal, a mini banquet. Lots of variety and I can see why the honey chicken soy is a favourite on the menu. You won’t leave feeling hungry and there is enough variety to keep your taste-buds interested. I was a bit concerned at how long our meals took to reach us. All in all a nice modern clean setting to have some simple Korean food that is quite tasty and won’t hurt the back pocket.

So my first proper Korean food experience was in Perth a couple of months ago. We couldn't help but notice the vast amount of Korean restaurants scattered over Perth so we decided to try one for lunch towards the end of our trip. Each table has a Korean B
