Review St Michael 6003 - Perth

Sam Gibbings
I've been to many course menus and there are usually a mix of nice things and things that don't quite match our palate. St Michael 6003 provided us with a really wonderful experience and was the first time that we've actually enjoyed every food item that came out. The chefs managed to bring out the best of each ingredient. We aren't big eaters, so we felt very full after the seven courses. Staff were very polite and attentive, and the setting had a relaxed sophisticated vibe to it.

Very lovely dining experience! I went for a friends surprise birthday dinner and the food and atmosphere were fantastic! I enjoyed the 7 course degustation and the staff were quite friendly and helpful.

7 Course Degustation The third coarse, beautifully roasted beetroot, goats cheese ice-cream with parmesan + rocket puree. As you can see it was a really nice presentation. Who would of thought to put all these flavours together, not me but everything just worked nicely together and we both thoroughly enjoyed this dish. My wife chose for the main. A beautiful piece of Barramundi.l with great presentation and the taste was even better. I chose the Duck dish, this had lots of great flavours however it was a touch overdone. Our favorite was the Scallop, Pig's Cheek, Galangal Turmeric + spiced cucumber. This is an amazing dish with flavours bouncing all over your tongue. There was a pre-dessert and a dessert, thoroughly enjoyed both. We will be coming back.

We dined here for a birthday celebration and it was delightful. We dined on a Groupon vouchers, it included the 7 course degustation and 2 glasses of wine. Every course was cooked perfectly and was well seasoned. The standout was the sous vide Margaret River wagyu rump, this course was cooked medium rare and it just melted in the mouth. Each course was perfectly timed, there was no long wait times. Would definitely be back.

A shining light on a struggling Beaufort St dining precinct, St Michael serves up excellent fine dining and service. While the food isn't quite up to the Petite Mort level (they are both co-owned by Todd Stuart, local god-tier chef), it's still a great place to try some great flavour combinations and very well presented dishes.

Was a nice evening except for no parking nearby & if you did get desperate & park on the road the park inspectors were out in full force on a Saturday night at 8pm fining people $95 so it put a damper on what should be a good night out, 3 people from our group had to go & move our cars & park a very long way from the restaurant. Besides that the food was lovely & a nice cosy atmosphere

Dined here with family on Saturday night. Excellent service and delicious food and I look forward to my next visit in the future :)

Fantastic dining experience. The staff and service were exceptional. They were all friendly, efficient and professional. We had the seven-course dinner and the food was amazing. Our favorite dish was the Scallop and Pig's Cheek. Highly recommended.

Booked this place for a good friend’s birthday. Greeted with smiling faces and promptly showed to our seats. We opted for the special $69pp degustation menu. St Micheal’s were very accomodating to all our dietary requirements. Everything we had was delicious. Great service, great food and great company. Definitely coming back again!

Not too much to say about this place other than to say the kitchen knows what they are doing and service one can only dream of (and with a smile). Generous degustation menu with Groupon though well worth it without the deal given the quality and attentive service. It just made it better. Each protein was cooked to perfection. Standout was the scallop and pork cheek. Close second was the roast barramundi (pictured) - can't get much better than a Barra done with love. Thanks so much to the staff and hope to return on next visit to Perth.

Actual rating: 4.5/5<br/><br/>With modern, minimalist decor interspaced with whimsical takes on pre-renaissance religious painting, St. Michael 6003 is a treat for the eyes and the palate, with friendly service to boot.<br/><br/>Ordered two sets of the prix fixe $69pp menu which included:<br/><br/>- oregano bread + butter (delicious, springy bread with the softest flavoured butter)<br/><br/>- tasmanian salmon, fennel, tomato, ginger, yuzu (entree choice 1) <br/>- scallop, pig's cheek, galangal, turmeric, spiced cucumber (entree choice 2)<br/><br/>- duck breast, confit leg, cabbage, cocoa, sherry vinegar (main choice 1) <br/>- ranger valley beef flank, eggplant, miso, peanut (main choice 2)<br/><br/>- milk chocolate, pistachio, citrus, caramel (dessert choice 1)<br/>- trio of cheese, house made lavosh, bits (dessert choice 2)<br/><br/>The menu updates regularly so be on the lookout for new treats! <br/><br/>The duck breast and the milk chocolate desserts were the two clear standout dishes; the former with perfectly rendered skin and beautiful, classic flavour pairings and the latter a genius combination of lemon curd, pistachio, chocolate mousse and cake with perfectly balanced flavour and texture. Top points also to the oregano bread and the house made lavosh.<br/><br/>I like how they are experimenting with the flavours of other cuisines (and maintaining french-level finesse in execution) – the scallop and pig's cheek dish had a strong but balanced thai influence which I enjoyed. The Japanese homage with the beef dish of eggplant and miso was a little off, the flavour combinations were confusing and the beef was tough (though this is expected of even a great quality beef flank). <br/><br/>Great value for money, especially if you have an entertainment book voucher! Will be back on another special occasion to try a new menu of treats...

Now I've been here on 3 occasions so far in 2018 with different people and all (including me) have been impressed with the food, atmosphere and service. The dishes are varied, thoughtful and creative - the same could be said of the wine list. Quality place to take family and friends if you want to impress. I'd definitely go back as I consider it a  "jewel" of a restaurant diagonally opposite the Queens Hotel in Highgate.

A great night out with friends. Good service lots of laughs great food. Moderately priced drinks, food came out very quickly. (20 mins) service was great. Nice menu.

Had an enjoyable experience here last night. The room that houses the restaurant is great, beautiful ambience and very polished! Food was up there but wouldn’t say it’s the best fine dining we’ve had in Perth (our special occasion restaurant used to be Amuse’, still hunting for a replacement). <br/><br/>Staffing/ service was very patchy, what appeared to be the owner/ manager was brilliant and so was another older staff member however the juniors seemed to struggle with fine dining basics such as topping up tables wine glasses/ even pouring a glass of wine when they bring a bottle over and explaining meals when they’re served. Despite this they were all very nice and it was excused because of how friendly they were. <br/><br/>Could be a very good restaurant with some better service and maybe some more effort in their degustation dishes.

Even after about 10 visits, still one of my most favourite restaurants in Perth of all time. The flavours and detail in the food are next level and the service and ambiance is great every time. Will continue to return time and time again! <br/>

We all decided to go for the $95 seven course tasting menu. It was overall ok although we've had better degustations elsewhere. My favourite course was the dessert, and the scallops were good too. <br/><br/>Staff were very friendly however, lacked a bit of attentiveness as they did not seem to come back with the correct number of cutlery at almost each course and had to grab an extra of something and come back. We only had 5 people, wasn't like a massive group.

Nice and cosy place. Great service. Came here for the 7 course tasting menu and it was delicious! Thw scallop dish was the highlight of the dinner. Great combination and balance. Highly recommended.

Service is haphazard, not once did anyone ask to take our order, we always had to chase the staff. The dishes are pretty tasty but nothing to write home about. I think they would do better by focusing on making tasty food rather than making the food look sophisticated.

I've tried a degustation here. All dishes were very tasty, although I feel the flavour combinations wasn't as interesting as many other degustations I have had. The service was good, although it was slow at times with filling up our glasses with water. Nice restaurant interior.

I have been meaning to go to this restaurant for a while because I love trying degustation menus but the restaurant itself looked cozy and beautiful. <br/>I love the intimate, yet almost casual feel of this space. It's a mix of fine dining in the heart of mount lawley so you don't get the stuffy vibe that other fine dining restaurants have. <br/>The food was amazing - I loved all the dishes apart from one that was blue cheese and sorbet, but that's just my person taste.<br/>The staff were absolutely lovely and very helpful. <br/>My only gripe was that they didn't have a list of wines to match the food but they had an appropriate wine list so we just ordered a bottle that we thought would go well - and it did!

Thanks for a great dining experience St. Michael. We were there on a busy Sat night and ordered from the a-la-carte menu. For entree, we shared a Kangaroo Carpaccio and it was unique. For our mains we had the Dorper lamb & the Beef Ribs & Shank. Both dishes were amazing. Portions were not big but the meats were tender and not overcooked(i dont like any red meat over a medium), smoky flavours were evident in both dishes, my jus was nice, dishes were well balanced & the use of elements such as buckwheat for texture kept things interesting, thanks to executive chef Adam Sayles.<br/>Service was good, our waiter was fairly knowledgeable. It was quite an intimate setting. A bigger selection of wine on the menu wouldn't go astray though. We couldn't stay for a long dinner on this occasion but we're very keen to come back to try the degustation menu. Thank you St. Michael, we shall see you again soon.

Excellent food, well balanced menu, good wine selection, impeccable service with detailed descriptions of the dish. We enjoyed seeing carrots cooked in so many ways. The meat was some of the most tender I've had.

Pleasant evening but St Michael 6003 didn't give us that wow factor we were expecting. Yes agreed the ambience is nice, staff efficient and food portions appropriate however the taste and flavour were missing from the food combinations. We chose the three course option which is good value however when we dine out we look for that food experience which is going to give us that pleasant surprise. The food combinations worked well however for instance the dorper lamb didn't have the full flavour I was expecting and was over cooked. The desserts really lacked in taste particularly the chocolate dish the cage portions were dry and certainly didn't melt in ones mouth. It is a shame given the extremely high ratings - we were expecting more.

I have dined here on 3 or 4 occasions now and the food is very good.Solid cooking and the food comes at a great pace . Unfortunately my experience last week was soured by our waitress. She constantly hovered beside our table waiting for us to finish our last few bites on most courses ( literally standing over my shoulder) But what annoyed me the most was that I informed her that my girlfriend hates blue cheese so could we maybe do the cheese course with maybe something else. She proceeded to tell us how small the pieces of cheese were and that my girlfriend would be fine.If you detest something it doesn't matter how small it is.

This place is fantastic, seriously recommend you get in here and just do the 3 course menu. Old school ingredients used in a new way. I actually ate Brussel sprouts and wanted more. The panne cotta with Rhubarb - wow. Sensational presentation top shelf small plates that give you a great taste of everything. Share with your mates....

Amazing meal, we got the 7 course degustation and it was worth every cent. Cauliflower risotto was amazing. Great wine selection and really cute interior. Definitely one for special occasions.
FoodNinja
A pleasant experience - food wise and service wise. A word to the wise, don't sit at the table next to the front window as it is very noisy with the passing traffic. Our dinner party tried out quite a few of the dishes on the $59 prix fixe menu - where you get one entree, one main and one dessert. The servings are not large but don't be deceived - the flavours are quite rich so you may find yourself becoming full despite the serving size. For entree, the quail was nice, but the braised duck and cauliflower risotto are more substantial servings. For main, the beef, lamb and venison were delicious. I can't really say I liked the ocean catch though - the fish is very firm although the octopus accompanying it was tender and tasty. For dessert, we had the chocolate tart (mousse like consistency) with mint sorbet (probably a let down - suggest a raspberry or lemon flavour instead), gingerbread with maple icecream (better choice) and rhubarb with pannacotta.

Amazing experience, we enjoyed every meal, there were really tasty, cooked to perfection, simple ingredients made outstandingly good by an excellent chef

Food alone I would rate St Michael 6003 a 4 or 4.5. The seven course tasting menu was good value at $89 (especially when you have the entertainment card). The quail course with prunes was my favourite, the confit lamb shoulder was another stand out and so was the cheese course of "cashel blue, carrot cake, peach and ganache." Everything worked beautiful together and I don't really like blue cheese. All three I would eatagain/10. Least fave was probably the crispy pork cheek and scallop which was pretty ordinary. <br/><br/>Sadly kitchen was let down by the floor staff. We were told it was one of the staff's first shift but we were served by different people throughout the night. When we made the booking, we advised one guest was gluten intolerant and a pescetarian and we confirmed this again upon arrival. However, whilst we had complimentary bread, she was given complimentary pork crackle which she doesn't eat. We sent it back and another waiter brought out the same pork crackle she can't eat. <br/><br/>The first two guests who arrived first ordered cheeky proseccos without us and they were served in white wine glasses. Then we ordered the same and ours were served in champagne flutes but only 2/3 full. It was not a proper pour like our other friends got. The glass of Muscat blanc I ordered was off but they took it back when I advised them. Throughout the night on more than one occasion we were waiting for cutlery while our dishes sat in front of us.<br/><br/>All in all, I would most definitely return for the food. The manager said he wouldn't scratch out our Entertainment Cards so we could use them again for St Michael so I would like to come back. Service has some serious crinkles that need ironing out. I loved the booths and atmosphere of the place. Great date night place.

So much promise but a let down. <br/>Food is unnecessarily complicated. <br/>The braised duck entree and fish of the day was overly salty. <br/>The carrot cake desert was very poor with only a mouthful of cake!<br/>Service and ambience was good but food is more important.

Came with the wife for my bday having noticed in the entertainment book. Was pleasantly surprised when I booked online and realised the degustation menu was only $69pp from tues-Thurs. Another big plus was the BYO. Love that!<br/><br/>We started with the pork cheek, scallop and chilli was simply exceptional. The dishes didn't drop in standard from there either. Setting was nice, service was attentive and efficient, dishes came out in a timely and consistent order and food was of the highest standard. <br/><br/>Only tiny negative I can think is that even for degustation, the servings are small but for $69pp for 7 dishes you can't really complain. <br/><br/>Sensational dining experience and will definitely be back.

Great midweek 7 course meal, $69pp (normally $89). The quality of the food was superb, I would definitely like to come back again. I was only a little annoyed that the courses began to come out too slowly (it was not that busy) after the 3rd and it dragged on too long, 2hrs and 15 minutes from start to finish, we were getting tired.
Samantha Davis
I love this place the degustation makes you really full which is a plus and their vegemite butter sounds kind of gross but its different and amazing. Great service and nice ambience i would definitely recommend as a fine dining restraunt its very good loved it.
Food_Glorious_Food
Brilliant dining experience. We ordered the full degustation menu and were not disappointed. Flavours were put together almost perfectly, presentation was beautiful and service was attentive but not over the top. At $89 per person for 7 courses this was excellent value especially for a degustation and the quality of the food. Will be heading back again soon.

This was our first time at St Michael 6003 and what an awesome restaurant this is! The food, service and atmosphere is amazing and so reasonably priced! We will definitely be back!!

I have been here a few times before and probably due to various sections of the restaurant finding their feet, I have been a little disappointed, especially as I loved jacksons. However, a party of six of us had the tasting menu at the weekend and it was fantastic. All the previous niggles have been worked on and it really is one of the best dining experiences now. I would recommend the tasting menu as amazing value. The cheese course and lamb were sensational. Great service and decor. Very happy! Thank you
Kate
Came to St Michael for the first time last week and I'll be back. This is good value and tasty food with *terrific* service. The portions aren't huge but the three course menu option is terrific value and they have free (delicious) bread with vegemite-infused butter (so much nicer than it sounds). Also can't say enough nice things about the service: we booked on a Thursday night but one friend was held up and got there an hour late. The wait staff were so friendly and didn't make us feel horribly guilty for taking up a table while we waited. As Arnie said: I'll be back.
Taste Sensations
Very pleased to have finally dined here. Great value for money. The menu is very interesting making it hard to make your selection. Everything sounded appealing. It's also nice to be able to choose between 2 menus or a la carte. The cauliflower cheese risotto was delicious and the lamb was outstanding. We'll be back. Thanks Chefs 💋

Brilliant. Just brilliant. Great food. Lovely presentation. Friendly service from young staff who are getting a good training from the maitre D'. Wife and I enjoyed the $59 prix fixe menu which is fantastic value. I struggled to find anything negative. Super place. Super food. Great value. The only improvements I can suggest are some way of absorbing noise in the front room which was a bit noisy due to all the hard surfaces and floors. And the seat backs which were not comfy. But really that's just me being picky and will not stop me from coming again. Highly recommended.

I thought I would focus my next few blogs on some of my degustation experiences in Perth. Last year I took my best friend to St Michaels to celebrate her birthday. We opted for the 7 course tasting menu which was $89 per person. This is slightly cheaper than a few of the degustation restaurants where prices are normally more than $100 per person. The food was nice and I enjoyed my experience. It had a lovely romantic atmosphere and would be a lovely place to a special date night with your significant other. Dishes were well presented and well flavoured – there was nothing to ‘weird’ or adventurous which can be seen as a positive for some. The highlight of the night for me was the lamb shoulder main (which we shared, so we could also try the fish) and surprisingly the blue cheese dish. I am normally not a blue cheese fan but that particular dish won me over and was delicious. I think this place is worth a try if you enjoy fine dining and there is a 25% off the bill voucher available in the Entertainment Book.

Wow wow wow... I cant find anything to complain about St Michael 6003, seriously. Everything was pleasant.. Great service, extraordinary food. I loved my Quail entree, it's so moist. Hubby's scallops was cooked to perfection, just how I liked it (Monika they weren't chewy, just perfect!) My main Confit Lam Shoulder was soooo good. Meat easily pulled, Brussels perfectly cooked and other elements just brought this dish to different level. Hubby's very impressed by his main: Ocean Catch - Salmon. He said it tastes like Tataki because salmon was just lightly cooked. Chilli & Prawn Broth was refreshing. He said it tasted like Thai Tom Yum soup but white colour, hehe.. Last part: desserts! Dark Chocolate Tart was lusciously rich. Mint Sorbet wasn't our favourite but still enjoyable. Carrot Cake got Cashel Blue (Cheese) which kinda overpowered other elements, so better to eat it separately. Peach & Ganache were yumm. Lucky we started early (6pm). By 7pm, all tables were fully occupied (and get a bit noisy). Portions were a bit small for guys, but Hubby didn't complain much because he know they're all high quality food. I hope I can go back to St Michael again soon. Absolutely beautiful, a top notch restaurant!

Came here for the seven course degustation as a midweek treat. Note entertainment voucher cannot be used between Monday to Thursday because the course is already discounted (although you would get more discount by paying full price and getting 25% off). But on the plus side it's free BYO during the weekdays. The food are rich and delicious. The highlight for my partner and I were the quail and the pre dessert dishes. There were only two staff working on the floor when I was there so they did seem pretty busy. Both staff had such a think French accent I had no idea what the dishes were when they explained it to me. Luckily I remembered from the menu. But this is such a minor issue. Overall such a wonderful experience. I think I prefer this degustation over Amuse

Fantastic degustation great value for money and I personally love variety with vegetables was awesome Loved the bread roll with vegemite butter as a starter but if I hadn't the roll would of enjoyed the chocolate mousse with mint sorbet and white chocolate bubbly slice thingy.... More was a little full by the end Classy wine list am a lover of prosseco at lunch was a great choice A must if you like food with a great artistic flair
Lifelovetravelfood
We came here for a special occasion and were not disappointed. The seven course menu was lovely - full of variety and interesting flavour combinations. I loved the Vegemite butter!! I wasn't sure a few courses worked perfectly with their flavour combinations but enjoyed them all the same. <br/><br/>I didn't think I'd be full by the end but I was happy to find I was by the end of our meal. The wine list wasn't bad and prices were fair for Perth in an upmarket restaurant. <br/><br/>Service was good - friendly and not over the top. I'm glad they explained what each dish was every time because I needed reminding before we tucked in. I also think it's great they ask if you have any food allergies without you having to say something. We didn't have any requests but I thought it was great service that they asked. <br/><br/>The restaurant itself is small and intimate without feeling tiny or overcrowded. <br/><br/>I really enjoyed our meal and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to others.

We had the 3 course prix fixe menu. It was delicious and excellent value. The service was impeccable. Ì cant wait to come back and try the 7 courses!

Had the 7 course degustation. The food was excellent. The two people doing service on Tuesday were exceptional. Very personable and attentive. The spacing between each course was perfect. Highly recommend.
Edward
Seven small and pretty plates for $89, the proteins were much stronger than the sweets. A dedicated vegetable dish, or more vegetables on the side and I would have been even happier. Worth a look.

Had such an amazing night and I am so glad that the history of the building has carried on. <br/><br/>When we arrived we were met warmly and seated. Drinks order taken.<br/><br/>We honestly could not fault anything.<br/><br/>We opted for the three course as we were heading out for drinks afterwards and didnt want to be too full. <br/><br/>Such great value, highlight was definitely my man's lamb, very envious. Everything was delicious though.<br/><br/>Staff were attentive but didn't hang around. <br/><br/>All the dishes looked beautiful, beautiful plating. Just looking at all the individual pieces of fruit and vegetables so much time and love has gone into the cute little squares of everything.<br/><br/>I can't wait for a menu change, I will be back!!!<br/>

Took significant other to this place over the weekend.  Parking issues as per normal in this area, so a short hike was required.  <br/>Took the fixed 3 course option as the degustation didn't feel right for a warmish night out.<br/>Let me start by saying the melba toast and buns as complimentary starters were fresh, warm and delicious with the slightly salted (with vegemite) butter.<br/>A winner was a large bowl of crispy pork crackling, with no chewy bits in there (no photo as I was enjoying the eating part too much).  Entrees came out very quickly, and were very well presented.<br/>Mains quickly followed, which gave me the feeling the whole thing was a bit rushed.  Main of Venison medallions was a delight to eat and the partner's 'cornfed beef flank' was tender although understandably more bland.  Both of us picked the dark chocolate tart, and I can honestly say it did lift the night at the end.  The downside was the limited range of the wines available, but then I came for the food, less so the wine.<br/>Would I go back? Probably but maybe on a less busy night perhaps...<br/>Memorable? yes, maybe for the wrong reasons with limited wine options.<br/>Service? excellent manners, dishes came out very quickly (almost too quickly).

I was surprised to learn that St Michael 6003 and Jacksons are not connected, because I found the food to be very similar. <br/><br/>Both restaurants take the cake for being my 2 favourite dining experiences of all time. <br/><br/>I will definitely return, perhaps with a group of friends next time. And BYO on Wednesdays?! Who can refuse!<br/><br/>Excellent work guys, loved every minute.

I came here before when it was Jackson's and wasn't over impressed. When I heard there was a new degustation restaurant I googled it and found that it was reasonably priced and it had good reviews.<br/><br/>My friend and I came with no expectations but left our palates extremely satisfied and our bellys full. Honestly the best degustation I've ever had in Perth.<br/><br/>Loved the vegemite infused butter and the fried gnocchi was to die for.<br/><br/>I also loved that because I don't eat pork or red meat they catered my menu for me, other degustation restaurants only give me the vegetables without the red meat or a piece of barramundi against my friends wagu beef (when I still pay the same price).

Being at a loose end due to the bushfire down south, I made a snap decision to have lunch here and I'm glad I did.<br/><br/>We ended up spending a delightful and leisurely two hour lunch partaking the seven course tasting menu along with various nibbles. Each dish was a work of art arranged on an assortment of beautiful plates. Every mouthful was a taste explosion to the extent that fingers were used to scoop drops of sauce and Mr G unashamedly licked his dessert plate clean lol.<br/><br/>Highlights included the "crackle and pop" salt and vinegar pork crackers (best crunchy pig skin and is amazing with beer), the pickled vegetables, the air dried tuna, the lamb shoulder, the cauliflower risotto, the cod (sweet flesh balanced perfectly with the acidity of the tomato lime salsa), the dark chocolate tart (very rich and decadent) and the parsnip, honey and cornflake crunch (that's Mr G's cleaned plate).<br/><br/>Executive chef Adam was very considerate of my dietary needs with regards to Crustacea and nut allergies and lactose intolerance. Pics indicate where elements were changed.<br/><br/>Side note to readers: these are small plates and if you have healthy appetites like us, order additional dishes including the nibbles and side dishes if having the tasting menu.

Absolutely amazing. Such wonderful food, impeccable service, and lovely dining atmosphere. The mint infused ice-cream was phenomenal and something we still remember. Every dish we had was superb, cant wait to go back!

St Michael’s offers patrons a classy understated intimate interior with excellent service and beautifully presented dishes that are delicious. I really enjoyed the fried squid which was super tender,. The house bread with vegemite infused butter surprised on the upside. The pork neck entree was falling apart, delicious, and rich but counteracted by the slightly sour mustard sauce. The octopus could have been more tender, the strong smoky flavour also partnered nicely against the rich pork neck and acidity from the capsicum salad. The venison for mains was just a touch overdone, spongey, though a bit difficult to cut through. The strong earthy flavours were enjoyed by the sweetness from the beetroot jelly and a slight richness from the cream and macadamias. The vanilla panna cotta didn’t carry the intensity of vanilla I was expecting and was rather muted, however the tart rhubarb offset any richness. The masterstroke of the dessert was the slightly sweet but salty crumble which brought all the elements together. The dessert was tasty but could have had a stronger finish. All in all well presented and thought out dishes, just lacking a little oomph and a bit more execution to take the dishes to the next level.

Came here for a birthday dinner, the food was average. Some of the dishes weren't seasoned enough, others lacked flavour and balance. The service is great and the wine list too

Long  table lunches are a beautiful thing. All the more so when it is set up in a dramatic, graffiti lined laneway, tables are adorned with colourful orchids, the menu is a shared affair and the sun is shining. Ok potentially it could be argued that the sun was shining a little too much on this particular Saturday when the temperature gauge cracked through 39, but sun is always going to be better than rain and an abundance of sunshine is becoming quite synonymous with the Beaufort Street Festival. So the scene was set!

This has to be one of Perth's finest restaurants! We had a three course meal. Where to begin! The house made complimentary bread started things off perfectly. The risotto cauliflower dish was divine, and the steak was so tender. Everything was delicious and presented perfectly. What a hidden gem!
Drum_tum_tum
Beautiful restaurant, we had the 7 course degustation and it was excellent. I fell in love with the cauliflower soup, so decadent! I thought there were 2 courses left but there were actually 3 so I ate too much too early.... Really friendly staff and for $89pp I thought it was great value for money, also being in the entertainment book we got a decent discount. We'll be back.

I was searching for a restaurant near the comedy club we<br/>were going to on a Tuesday night.  And St Michael 6003 was one of the<br/>restaurants that came up. When I read that they had something to do with red<br/>cabbage it was a done deal. And we were not let down.  Beautifully set out<br/>restaurant, brilliant staff and amazing food.  It was the perfect night<br/>out. Will return time and time again.

First time to St Michaels tonight and absolutely loved it. Gorgeous decor, fantastic service and staff, beautiful dishes and very reasonably priced! Highly recommend the 3 course option for $59!! Get the cauliflower risotto for entree and the lamb for main - you will not be disappointed!!

The food stood out here at what is now a cosy fine dining experience at the Jackson's restaurant site. The two of us had the $89, 7 course degustation which, for its price, was pretty damn good. <br/><br/>The quail was by far my favourite dish and was cooked amazingly and we were talked through our wine selection at the start to a bottle that was cheaper than what we were willing to fork out, which definitely hit the marker. <br/><br/>I will be back!

Amazing that my review seems to have been removed - negativity not allowed? Three of us found this restaurant to be the worst meal and service we had experienced and we eat out often.
Emily Tan
Had their seven course tasting plates. The food was served at reasonable time and they were simple and nice. The ambiance was good with great staff and service. The appearance of the restaurant wasn't obvious and you might miss it especially at night.
More Than Nourishment
We decided to go for the three course meal which came with the side of complimentary bread. All the dishes were beautifully present and each course came out promptly. The quail was so tender, ocean trout cooked to perfection and the crispy sweet polenta cubes were to die for! Even though dessert is usually my highlight, the savoury dishes were it for me tonight. I was however surprised at how much I enjoyed the parsnip honey and cornflakes.. It had a good balance between sweet and salty. Yum! I would definitely be back again.

My gf and I dined here last night and though our night started off leaving us feeling unattended, we were quickly won over by the delicate dishes placed before us. We opted for the entrée, main, and dessert option and each dish certainly lived up to its standards. The scallops with chicken and quail entrée was cooked perfectly, and for our mains we had the fish and pumpkin totelli which continued to wow us both! Finishing off with dark choc tart and pannacotta, our meal was complete. Additionally, the bottle of Italian wine we had provided that extra bit of heaven to our tastebuds. We both enjoyed our meal very much and the price definitely won us over too - we will be back, with our partners next time!

The air-dried tuna - wow! Superb service too. We went on a weeknight and challenged the staff a bit by ordering cocktails - they did well. Recommended.

The atmosphere had remnants of a surgical Jacksons spread. The menu had glimmers of culinary hope with a blend of innovative combinations such as salted corn flakes with parsnip sponge. We opted for the 7 course spread; the dishes were served in a consistent timely manner and were presented all meticulously and prepared on our request. <br/>We opted for an 8:30 start; which seemed to fit perfectly with the highgate wine first dine later philosophy, however when the restaurants patronage thinned out, so did the service and the diligence st Michael commenced with. $125 a head and we were reasonably satisfied; the only thing really missing was the clincher to rope me back for a second meal.

I love this place. The food is devine. Be prepared for some small portions however! I had the quail and the lamb, absolutely mouthwatering. My friend had the scallops and venison. I tasted the venison and it was incredible. We both had a panna cotta with rhubarb ice cream each, delicious. Service was fantastic too. Keep up the good work St Michaels! I will be back :)

The food was divine, with excellent service to match with a clearly knowledgable wait staff. We were given an excellent wine recommendation which complemented the food perfectly. The atmosphere is intimate but warm, perfect for a romantic evening or special occasion. The parsnip dessert was to die for. Will definitely return!

The masterminds behind St Michaels, Scott O’Sullivan of Red Cabbage and Tod Stuart of Petite Mort, converted the former Jacksons space into a restaurant offering a more casual dining experience. The new look casual eatery was named after Scott O’Sullivan’s father who passed away a few years ago and whom O’Sullivan believes will be looking after him on this new venture.

We had dinner here on Saturday night and it was superb. Wonderful food and excellent service. A special mention to our waiter Dave who was fabulous and helped us to make some savvy food and wine decisions; each mouthful was sensational and the wine was well worth the price. I even tried one of the Stickies (I generally hate desert wine but the suggested one was incredible.....just ask Dave) We will be returning soon.

Beautiful food. Absolutely loved this place. The food is sublime and the service is just as good. You definitely get what you pay for in quality if not quantity.

Hard to live up to the former occupants, Jacksons but St Michael's seemed to do it. We went for a Beaufort street lane way dinner and loved it. The staff were polite and very accommodating and the food was well thought out and a little more up market than the usual suspects on Beaufort Street. Perfect for an anniversary dinner or special occasion.

Hold the boat! Mt lawley has a new winner. Forget the dirty hipsters sitting at Mary street or the Mexicans that have migrated to beauforts street, the cool slick place that st Michaels is, finally adds some class back into Mt Lawley.<br/><br/>The food creative and fantastic.  The service.... I have not had better in Perth. Their new menu  is great $59 for 3 courses.<br/><br/>Well done St Michael's you are a step above the rest  of Beaufort street.

We had a booth for four in the back section which was lovely. Wait staff were fantastic and very jovial. The prices were very fair and he wine list matched the meals well.<br/><br/>All in all a really enjoyable venue.

Expecations Exceeded!. Beautiful comfortable chairs. Calm, peaceful atmosphere. We had the seven course tasting menu and were blown away by every single one. The service was attentive - don't be afraid to say "pardon" if your French accent-deciphering is not great - but not intrusive. The wines were lovely. If you have a la carte my advice is don't even try to imagine what the dish will be like - they defy description, in the best possible way.

Good, but I don't Think I'll Be Back .... Mother's Day ... everywhere I tried to get a reservation, they were all booked out - except One!<br/><br/>St Michael 6003 has a lot to live up to, replacing Jacksons - one of my very all time favourites! But, I went in with an open mind, and hey, I got to spend a bit of time with my two sons on Mother's Day! Such a pity though, that where there were only 5 or 6 tables occupied (including ours) for a dinner service, leaving more than two-thirds of the restaurant empty, so why, oh why, did they put the three of us on 2 separate small round tables, leaving one of my sons, practically sitting on his own - awkward! One of the standard rectangular tables for 4, would have been much more appreciated!<br/><br/>The service was pretty good, but as it was a set menu, I wish I could have had the menu left on the table, as even though a couple of the waiters gave us a run down of the dishes on serving, it was rather difficult to understand their very heavy accents. Sometimes, we absolutely had no idea of what we were eating. Admittedly, the dishes we ordered were all so artistically put together, although small, but very tasty. The only dish that I absolutely did not like, was the weird cornflake crunch ... YUK! and it also did not look that good either - sorry guys, maybe leave that invention off future menus.<br/><br/>Only one other comment: the atmosphere is missing something here ... we sat right next to a beautiful stained glass window, but the interior of the restaurant itself did nothing to excite me - the lighting is not right, and maybe a bit of background music would have been nice. With so many restaurants available to choose from, good food itself, is just not enough for me anymore - the ambience of the restaurant and the way my family and friends enjoy the night together can make or break the votes to return.

Every plate a wonderful surprise!. Unexpected, last-minute dinner with friends turned into one of the best dining experiences since Print Hall last year. Outstanding, individual dishes from the Chefs Choice 7 course degustation. A wonderful night and excellent value. Service was efficient and unobtrusive and each dish was explained. Stand-outs were Cauliflower Risotto, Scallops, Lamb Shoulder and Salmon main courses but each course was discussed and savoured. Highly recommended.

Wow, Fantastic. Absolutely sensational meal there last week. The food was superbly cooked and delicious. The service was fantastic. Very reasonably priced.<br/>All up a great lunch, I would highly recommend St Michael 6003 to anyone.

Wow! Just finished a three course mothers day menu. Seafood was cooked to perfection and the parsnip dessert was interestingly delic! Even the red wine we chose was fab (Langedoc). <br/>As far as $$$ resturants go, don't miss this one. I reckon it's worth it.

--June 2016 --<br/>St Michaels deserves to be trending right now. It has improved immensely since last year! We had the sliced beef tonight. Outstanding. Beautifully done with delicious sauce. Overall service was really good and engaging. Well done guys. Would have had dessert if we didn't end up w-a-i-t-i-n-g :(<br/>---------------------<br/><br/>-- May 2015 --<br/>All good but..... Well, far being it for me to be the gastronomical expert. ...<br/>The food was really good. I must concur wirh other reviewers. No complaints from either of us.<br/>Buuuut... the place suffers from my pet hate... after serving the food, the finish lacks big time and makes a pleasant evening into an irritation. So typical of Perth establishments and a resl pity!<br/>We waited a full 30 minutes for waitstaff to take our dessert order. .. and then the Camomile tea came in a coffee cup. .. oh guys!! Cmon... get this right! !!<br/>And then we waited and waited for the bill. . Which eventually came.<br/>Result. . We will likely go back but will decline the desert and coffee. So just a quick in and out in future. Could be better. .
Aj
Delicious!. Yummy<br/>had the 7 course dinner menu... $89 per person...food was delicious and very generous servings all up.<br/>friendly service too!<br/>would recommend :)

Our first real 'group' booking, and a test run for the Perth Food Underground dinners , a group of 12 PFB'ers hit up St Michael 6003 in Highgate.  Big food. Tiny plates. Big table. Not-tiny bill. Given the size of our group, while the team at St Michael's were happy to take our booking we were required to pre-order our meals and pay a $200 deposit before we sat down.  I can understand the reasoning behind this, but that doesn't mean I have to like it. St Michael's comes across as quite a fancy restaurant, and asking us to put down a deposit before we sit down cheapens the experience.  Well, to be precise, it demonstrates their fairly cheap evaluation of us, which in turn cheapens our experience with them.   As to the pre-order thing, well, if you haven't been to St Michael's before (and you haven't had the privilege of reading this review) you are probably going to get the pre-order thing wrong.  St Michael's do a 3 dish special and a 7 dish special and, given we were a table of 12 and had to pre-order ahead of time, it wasn't altogether surprising that most people went with the 3 dish special. But, even though St Michael describes itself as a ' small plates venue ', it's very difficult to appreciate exactly  how  small these plates really are. What that means is, if you (naturally) assume that the 3 dish special should translate into a starter, main and dessert, you're going to be sorely disappointed.  And hungry. And perhaps, if you're at all like me, also a little underdressed.  What's more, although we were allowed to order extra desserts on the night, it wasn't possible to order any extra savory plates.  This means that if you're going to pre-order your meals you should absolutely go with a mix of the savory dishes (sorry, vegetarians, from memory there are only one or two of those anyways).  Otherwise you will be left watching longingly as half your table make their way into their third savory dish, and still hungry after you finish off your dessert.  Food The

Very impressed.. We have been here twice and both times the dishes have exceeded our expectations. The plates are small but enough for two people to share so you can have a try of each dish (we got 7 dishes in total, 2 being desserts, for the night and were very satisfied).<br/><br/>On both occasions the restaurant was surprisingly quiet (which we liked). All the dishes were beautiful and we couldn't fault any of them. The service was great and the food came out in good timing. <br/><br/>Will defiantly go back and recommend.

Great evening at St Michael. I took my girlfriend on a date on Sunday evening and everything was perfect, great service, our waiter was also the manager, John. He was profesional, funny, very helpful and passionate with what he does. The food was just as good as I heard, loved all three dishes and John helped with the matching wine selection. Overall I really recommend this restaurant, nice cosy atmosphere, great food and staff!!

Gastronomic Delight. My partner took me to St Michaels on Saturday night for my birthday. Wow.. what a revelation the menu is superb, the roast shoulder lamb was the best I have eaten ever..anywhere..We had a 3 plate each (shared) degustation for $49. All of the dishes were unique and delicious. The service was fantastic and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the whole night cost us $160 with wine. We have eaten at most of the best resturants in Perth and for that matter some fine resturants in Europe.. They could all learn a thing or two from St Michaels.. we'll be back!

Best Kept Secret on Beaufort St. Had a meal here 21/2/2015. We had the tasting menu for two people ($178.00) 7 courses of brilliantly prepared food. Very surprised we were able to get a table with 10 minutes notice on a Saturday night??? Restaurant was 3/4 full which was also surprising. Food was nothing less than perfect, we have not had anything as good on Beaufort Street in a very long time. Now all they need to do is fix the service which was ok but certainly did not match the quality of the food. Wine list was ok 7/10, hubby tells me the beer list needs some work. Venue looks 3/4 renovated with a few obvious incomplete projects, guess like everyone budgets blow out. None the less we will be back for sure.

Faultless. Had a beautiful dinner last night for my Brothers Birthday. There were five of us and everyone thoroughly enjoyed every dish. The service was fantastic. Lovely atmosphere. I was very surprised there weren't more people, though we started early, about 6.30. It's hard to pick a favourite. But I had the salmon, pastrami and sauerkraut steamed buns, delicious, wish I'd had 2. The broccoli with orecchini and pecorino was superb, loved the scallops, so tender and tasty, and the lamb shoulder with mint and goats curd was cooked to perfection. I tasted the dark chocolate tart with the mint sorbet, I should have ordered one. Would have liked to have lingered longer, but everyone had things to do and places to go. (Fringe Festival). Thanks guys for a great night, and price's were very reasonable even though the dishes were small, it was very satisfying and I left feeling very full and happy.

High Expectations Met...easily!. Came here with a couple of friends on the weekend for my birthday treat. The past reviews have been very promising and we were definitely not disappointed. We decided on the 7 course degustation and a lovely bottle of red and were wowed each time a course arrived. The Chef made the relevant adjustments to accomodate the pregnant diner and she enjoyed her experience as much as we did. The atmosphere is great although it can get a little loud, but this will obviously depend on what the other guests are like on the night. It is in no way a stuffy, pretentious degustation restaurant. It is tastefully decorated (love the big open window at the front) and the staff friendly and professional. We all agreed that $89pp for a 7 course degustation experience was great value for money. The food is divine here. Oh and the bread is free too which was a nice bonus! Great work guys...compliments to the Chef and all the staff! us 3 foodies left St Michael 6003 very full and happy and we will be speading the word! I would also love to see what is on offer during brunch....soon!

Amazing. This place is sensational. A refreshing change on the Perth eating scene. Everything on our table was fabulous. A must do!

One of the best!. Surprised my wife with an early Valentines Day / birthday day dinner thanks to a child free night. This was one the best degustation meals we have ever eaten and the service was brilliant. The food showed fantastic attention to detail seldom seen in other restaurants. Could not fault anything except that we should have ordered a taxi so we could enjoy a couple more wines with the meal!<br/>Fantastic restaurant and awesome value for money definitely going back

Better than Robuchon. I just returned from Paris where I paid $700 for a meal at L'Atelier by Joel Robuchon. Went to Beaufort street for something different and said "not french". (So sick of cheese!). The menu at St Michael looks Spanish with a shared plate theme and fresh looking ingredients, so I was surprised when the maitre'd was from Paris and extremely friendly.<br/><br/>If Robuchon thinks he does relaxed fine dining well he needs to learn from St Michael's. Much much better service and very similar quality and presentation of the food. The total for 2 was just over $100. The only person who would think Robuchon was worth the $600 difference is clearly out of touch.<br/><br/>I was surprised the place wasn't packed. If it was in Paris you wouldn't be able to get in. Perhaps we don't appreciate what we have in Perth. Anyway I'll personally keep them in business just so I can get more of that ocean trout and the parsnip ice cream. Magnificent yet subtle flavours and perfectly executed.
Pink_Tulips
Had dinner here on a quiet Sunday night. Service was friendly and the food was sensational.<br/>Whilst the roast chicken skin could have been a bit crispier, standout dishes were the sunchokes, smoked tuna, parsnip dessert!<br/>Can't wait to return again!

Absolutely sensational. 10/10. Between my wife and I we tried the Artichokes, the Pumpkin, the Trout, the Quail, the Lamb Shoulder and the Pork Belly.... and the Parsnip ice cream - and they were all absolutely fantastic. One of those meals/ dining experiences that really leave you buzzing.<br/><br/>We were there on a Thursday and it was fairly quiet, but the service was perfect as well.<br/><br/>Highly recommended.
Bree
We had the degustation and were not disappointed. Each dish was delicious and although looked tiny we were quite full by the end. Stand out dishes were pumpkin and orrechiette, scallops and the pear and blue cheese. The complimentary bread was also fresh and crusty and the lovely Vegemite whipped butter was surprisingly good. They have done a great job

Exraordinarily Good!. Superb meal and excellent service sums up our experience last night. We had 3 dish menu being weeknight and early starts workwise next morning...will be back for full menu soon! Nice touch "Happy Birthday" on my sweets plate. The Fruit Salad and Icecream an amazing dish and never had such tender Shoulder of Lamb, which melted in your mouth. Thankyou!

Rarely do I write reviews. I'll keep it short and sweet. Amazing! Great value, fantastic service. Perfect atmosphere and the food was amazeballs! My ultimate new local fav for sure!

WOW !. Had a really good dinner here last night. We chose six share plates - scallops, ocean trout, yabbies, pork belly, lamb shoulder and quail. Every one was delicious but the pork belly, scallops and yabbies were outstanding. The Maitre D' was very helpful and took time to explain the dishes to us. Service was quick and we had brought a bottle of Mont Redon 2011 Cotes du Rhone with us and there was no corkage. Going back soon.
Rose
A group of 8 of us went there for the degustation. Really lovely food! Meat and fish beautifully cooked. Half the time I had no idea what I was eating but was pleasantly surprised :-)

Amazing Brunch!!. Had the ocean trout and chorizo option, so gooood. No complaints from the others who were here.

A MUST!. I enjoyed drinks and dinner here for my 30th birthday with my family. Service was really good, food was absolutely amazing, definitely recommend the chefs choice 7 plates - the price is extremely reasonable and food is fantastic. I really cant say enough good things about this place, ill be back! Good for tappas, dinner or drinks - absolutely lovely!

It was a good night. We had the 3 course which was $50 per person. We ordered 6 different dishes to share which was about 70% of the menu.<br/>House bread was nice with a hint of Marmite in the butter. <br/><br/>In general: <br/>-the marron dashi stock and turnips dish was so-so (marron tasted a bit overcooked but the stock was nice). Would have been a great dish if it was cooked perfectly. <br/>-lamb shoulder was good. Recommended. <br/>-scallops were lovely too<br/>-ocean trout was very good. Recommended. <br/>-quail was very tender and juicy.<br/>-chocolate chip coffee dessert was too deconstructed for me. sometimes too much crumbed this and that with bits and blobs all over the plate just feels a bit common these days. That's just my personal preference, though. The flavours were still lovely. <br/><br/>Service was EXCELLENT. One waiter on the ground floor in general (probably a second person on the upper floor) so he was quite busy; yet he was polite and very accommodating.<br/><br/>I already knew it was small plates to share. I had eaten a little before dinner so my appetite was smaller for that night. Two of us ladies who had smaller than average appetites left hunting for supper. I was not hungry but i certainly did not feel full. I think dining at St Michaels could be perfect for a first date so you can dress up nicely and leave dinner without having a bloated belly, perhaps? Just don't come in an expect a large feed , this isn't one of those places =D<br/><br/>I would return, definitely.

Ripped off on Beaufort St Festival of 2014. If the festival serve is an example of their food styles then all I can say the serve is way too small & definitely over-priced..<br/><br/>They charge $10 for two rashers of bacon with a tea spoon of sauerkraut in a small dinner bun.<br/><br/>They misrepresented it as a BBQ pork & sauerkraut in a steamed bun - it was bacon & spiced cabbage (nothing special), an absolute joke & a rip off........ you get better value from McDonalds !!!!!!!!!!!!!!<br/><br/>Stay well away from this place ...............................
Robn
Miniscule Marron. Totally overrated. The serve of marron would have filled half a teaspoon. Looking at some of the reviews makes me think of the king with no clothes
Downunderdale
A totally pretentious restaurant. 3 of us attended, were looked down upon by a condescending waitress, and served, what we called, the biggest wank we have had. We eat out a lot with varied experiences and we would never grace the doors of St Michael again.
Big Trev™
Amazing Food. Great Service.. We had extremely high hopes for St Michael being Red Cabbage regulars. We were not disappointed. Each mouthful was a taste sensation. So skillfully crafted yet not over the top with technique. As Molly says, do yourself a favour and get down.

Yummmmmmmm. Went for dinner last night, we didn't intend to go here, just walked in! The food was absolutely amazing. Each mouthful was so delicious, especially the cheese course. Big thanks to the chef for making such amazing food. We will definitely be back.
NovaSylvana
Delicious. On the expensive side. <br/>The scallops are beautifully presented - but might actually be 1 scallop cut into pieces.<br/>The Chardonnay when we went in August was too green and too cold. Ask for a taste first. <br/>I will go back.

Good and will only get better. Really enjoyed our night here. Set in hip Highgate and very much in tune with local vibe. Easy and fairly relaxed. The venue is very cool - spare decor and great lighting fixtures. Accoustics were not great - none of us could hear a word our waiter was saying and we were certainly shouting at each other for most of the night. The menu at St Michael was accessable yet still offered up some very interesting options to stretch your palate. I am rapidly becoming wary of the food pretentions that seem to be taking over dining in many of the "better" dining venues in this city and St Michael seems to provide a great bridge for that. Small plate which was fun as gave you opportunity for variety without being captive to the whim of the kitchen. We did the $49 for a 3 course menu, added a dessert course and shared a couple of starters and were comfortably full without being gorged. Good value. Standouts were the oft mentioned pork crackles, the lamb dish with the olives - not what you would expect and the wonderfully fresh "fruit salad" without a bit of fruit in sight. Ambivalent about the egg/smoke bacon course - despite good intentions it really did feel out of place in the night dine scene. Minor whinges - no one to greet you at the door means you are standing awkwardly in the entrance, there simply weren't enough waitstaff and some did not appear to have a lot of experience - which is fine as you have to start somewhere but they seemed to lack management/direction from someone more senior to keep the flow smooth, the restaurant was obviously busy and fully booked but the service standard was hit and miss which you shouldn't get in a restaurant of this calibre - waited for 20 minutes for a drinks menu, found it difficult to attract attention for staff - to pay the bill at the end of the night, to ask for clarification on the menu, the menu of the day scrawled on the mirrored wall was incredibly difficult to read - the lighting being ambient and low with all sorts of reflections off the glass. Am sure these are minor teething issues and whilst can mar a great night out are easily rectified. Looking forward to visiting again and seeing how this very interesting place is going to evolve. Thank you.
Mel.thomas-hall
Well Done. How nerve racking it must be to take over a venue ran successfully for more than a decade by Neal Jackson!!!! These guys have pulled it off, the interior has been spruced up and brightened up and looks great (thanks for keeping the skull wallpaper though). The food is amazing, you can either have share plates with your mates or indulge in a series of 7 tasting plates, we went with the tasting plates. When we where asked our preference for the mains of quail of trout the 2 males at our table both joked and requested Lamb Shoulder, and much to our surprise they changed the pre main to lamb shoulder for us, and it was worth it! Every course was beautifully presented and tasted even better. They had a good selection of wines without the excessive price tag and the staff where both friendly, helpful and made you feel welcome...which is rare in Perth! This venue is definitely past it's teething stage and they have done Neal Jackson proud.

Early days yet. A relatively casual setting. Experimental dishes with unusual flavour combinations. Had the 7 degustation. Small servings (a la fine dining). If the service was better, it would be more worth it (it wasn't bad service, just not $90pp service). Pretty noisy from one of the groups there - I think they were a little drunk and a girl started twerking. Hopefully not a usual occurrence and they will know how to manage groups like this better in the future. Noisy due to echo off walls/floor. Still in its early days, but there is lots of potential.
Vicki Preobrazenski
My husband and I had the 7 course degustation. Taste and presentation was awesome. Jonnie our waiter such a delight. Wine list was also great. Had some wines from regions never experienced. Highly recommdnd

I just joined urbanspoon so that I could post a review of this great restaurant.<br/>This was our second visit to St Michael. First visit was the 7 course dego, this time had 3 plates each. Both visits have highlighted the quality food that is turned out. Whilst all dishes were excellent, the lamb belly and the quail were standouts.<br/>The service was excellent and BYO Tuesday made it a relatively cheap night out.

St Michael. Love this place. The service was fantastic, food was beautiful. Agree with a previous reviewer- go have hungry jacks if you want to stuff your face! This food was amazing and should be enjoyed slowly. 3 plates were plenty enough each for myself and a friend. Love the vibe the decorations and the service was just friendly and welcoming! Can't wait to go back here.
Perth Guy
This place is fantastic, the best service in Perth and different tasty food. One review on here says the meals are too small. We only had 3 not the 7 meal set menu and were full. If u want to stuff your gob go to hungry jacks down the rd and get some cheap rubbish, this place is much more of a fine dining restaurant. The food was so flavoursome of things u haven't tried. Wine list awesome too. And nice staff which is so rare in Perth. We are coming back and recommend it. Book a table because once it's known u won't get a seat
Frogfromfreo
Beautiful presentation, lovely food but very expensive for what it is! Tiny serves, so tiny every plate is more of an appetiser than the starter size we were promised. I understand that it is a 'concept' guys but you forgot that the original main concept of a restaurant is to feed people and I went home hungry. So stop hiding behind your 'concept' and put more of that lovely food of yours in the plate.

St Michael 6003 is a glorious phoenix, arisen from the ashes of Jackson’s. ... and in that resurrection, the glory of its former incarnation remains. This place could so easily have become another hipster hairdresser or overpriced homewares boutique but instead the spirit of what once was lives on, in the form of the newly-minted St Michael 6003. <br/><br/>It was my girlfriend’s birthday. Being the gentleman that I am, I told her that surely she deserves a night off the pots and pans, and what better way to do that than a quick slap-up at Jackson’s? <br/><br/>My telephone call to make a reservation left me shocked. Jackson’s was no more, and some upstarts had taken over! The very French gentleman on the phone kindly explained the situation, but as a member of our electronic society, I had some research to do first. <br/><br/>So, it turns out that the people who’ve taken over have quite the pedigree, and this new lot are claiming their food is as good as what ol’ Neal used to slap together. Who am I to doubt the word of a Francophile? So off we go, BYO in hand, ready to give these newcomers a go. <br/><br/>Well, let me tell you, we weren’t disappointed. Food was *quality*, and this is coming from someone who thought the famous snow egg wasn’t all it was cracked up to be (FYI Peter, more egg, less snow). These guys put on a seriously delicious selection of plates and for a seriously reasonable price. The scallops were divine, and the balance in the marron was really clever, but they saved the best for last... <br/><br/>The absolute killer dish of the evening was the parsnip, honey and corn flakes. Words fail me, they really do. Both of us took our first mouthful, looked up at the same time, and the simultaneous look of amazement said it all - this was something really special. Guys, I don’t know what you did out the back there, but that was just... I want to eat about a litre of it. I want to come back every day. You guys are getting a Fare Exchange request, I’m just saying. <br/><br/>In short, we haven’t seen a comeback like this since a bloke pushed back a stone some 2,000 years ago. Fantastic work, gentlemen!

Those having dinner at St Michael 6003 have two options – a choice of 3 plates, with each person being able to select their own 3 plates, for $49 plus $12 for each extra plate or the Degustation menu with the Chef’s choices for $89. We went the latter with the wait staff happy to note special dietary requirements (that would be me needing gluten free). Let me just say that the service at St Michael’s is terrific. Attentive without being in your face. Professional but still friendly. Accommodating but no attitude. Gotta like that. And overall the food was fantastic. Some dishes were a bigger hit with some of us more than others, b

These guys don’t take themselves as seriously as a Jacksons or Amusé. They put Vegemite in the whipped butter. Posh cauliflower cheese. A crumble out of caramalised corn flakes. It’s funny, but its good. Really good. The house made cured meats are a highlight. I have to learn how to make corned beef like that. The lamb shoulder tasted so intense it felt like they were cheating. There are a lot of bitter flavours in these dishes, and I am a big fan of that. Radicchio and charred artichoke. Not for the young of palette.
Donovan De Souza
St. Michael then is something very special, as the food we ate on the night is definitely in the same fine dining tradition of Red Cabbage presented with a more casual vibe and a fantastic price point. $61 for 4 courses is excellent value for cooking of this calibre

Culinary magic is bound to happen when the owners of two of Perth’s best restaurants join forces.  St Michael 6003 is the love child of Red Cabbage's Scott & Hazel O'Sullivan and Petite Mort's Todd Stuart with talented chef Adam Sayles in the kitchen. It was the end of an era when Jacksons closed its doors but now newbie St Michael 6003 has taken up residence on Beaufort Street.   St Michael 6003 uses a small plate approach where diners mix and match each dish creating their own degustation.   This was our first experience and it was so good, we went back.      Bread and butter;  Smoked pork hock, piccalilli and parmesan  Roast cauliflower, capers, jalapeño and manchego  Scallops, corn, spinach and shaved squid Marron. mushroom dashi and turnips Honey cured bacon, mustard, charred pickled onions and cumber Lamb belly, mandarin and pickled yabbies  Wagyu rump cap, cherry, oats, seeds and nuts Peanut butter, salted caramel and chocolate  Pumpkin, white chocolate, cheddar crumb, pear sorb
The City Lane
St Michael 6003 is housed in the space formerly occupied by Perth institution Jacksons. Owners Scott O’Sullivan and Tod Stuart have converted the space into something very casual.

The quail breast was pressed between thin slices of Serrano ham and served lightly charred with honey roasted carrots and carrot purée. The quail had a lovely silken velvety texture, I have never eaten quail that delicately tender before.
Perth Munchkin
David Bowie and Freddie Mercury paired up to sing the beautiful duet ‘Under Pressure’… it’s super catchy and epic and it builds beautifully. So in a random link to pressure, talk about the pressure for the crew opening their new venue in the space previously occupied by Jacksons . Oh yes, the space synonymous with a perfectly polished degustation of entirely creative flavours and artistic flair. Under pressure indeed. I waited and wondered who would take such bold steps and look to fill these big shoes. And then it was announced. St Michael was moving in. It was to be the inspired joint venture of the teams from Red Cabbage and Petite Mort . Wowser! Talk about fire power in the kitchen! I love both of these places and have visited each on a few delightful occasions. I couldn’t wait to head along to Beaufort Street and try their out their “small plates” menu. The venue was given a makeover before the doors were swung open and you can tell that in Summer, it is going to have a wonderfull
Foodie Cravings
Mount Lawley’s new kid on the block St Michael’s dessert was out of this world. The puffs of peanut butter, salted caramel and chocolate in a mousse-like texture was amazing – I could have easily had a few more plates of these. Full St Michael blog post is in the making

The carrot slice with the walnuts, pear condiments and blue cheese were exemplary in reinventing the classic blue cheese plate. In saying that, there were a few errors which displeased me..
The Food Pornographer
... a new look and life as St Michael 6003. Chef Adam Sayles has come from Red Cabbage to head up the St Michael kitchen. The menu’s all small plates, appetiser-sized. The food is inventive, artistic and intricate – if you just want to stuff your face, you’ll rip through every course in two minutes and feel outraged – maybe skip St Michael and grab a burrito or burger. For the rest of us, it’s perfect for date night – something a little different, a meal to savour that’s special, but not ridiculously extravagant
