Review Fortune Five Northbridge - Perth

Wenjie Wang
Came here for dim sum and we were pretty happy with what we had. The food was overall pretty good, would recommend chicken feet, salted egg yolk buns, beef strips and the drinks. Very good value for the price.

This is the perfect yum cha restaurant! Friendly service, plenty of dumpling options, all of the fillings are fresh and served piping hot! We really went to town when ordering but ate everything. I usually stay away from the fried items but because they were fresh, they were easy to eat and not too heavy. Loved it

3.5 - 4 stars Environment: have 2 adjoining shops: right side decorated in traditional Chinese restaurant is larger and darker, and left side is like a bright and clean cafe. I prefer left hand side one for yum cha. Service: shortage of manpower. Have to wait to be seated. Waited longer at right hand side shop, so went to left hand side one. Staff's attitude was ok, gentle and attentive, quick movement. Food served fast. Food: good in taste and portion. Reasonable price. Use loose tea leaves. I tried steamed fish balls, Bean Curd Rolls in Oyster Sauce, Beef Tendon in BBQ sauce. Tendon was very tender. Salted & Pepper Squid Tentacles was made to order, and so crispy.

We visited on Sat for lunch. It was busy but really appreciated the staff, their attitude is excellent. Love all the dim sum and the Chinese tea. Excellent!

We go there not often may be once every 2-3 months, but the great quality of food and friendly service remain the same throughout the years. Another great dinner we enjoyed tonight.
CK C
We enjoyed ourselves tremendously here. Decent prices and good portions. Curried beef tendon at dim sum is superb!
Melissa Lace
One of my top dim sums to go to when I'm craving dumplings. I have tried several restaurants and this is one is a repeat. Good quality food and they sell dim sum at night for those who want it for dinner.
Rosemarie Helmerand
Great food, usually very busy on the weekends. Reasonably priced tasty yum cha. Sorry only took one photo, was too busy eating.
Cameron Nicol
Prob one the best dim sum places in perth and you can tell by the crowd of people waiting to get in on a Sunday arvo if you are in a small group prepare to wait or share a big table in with other people. All the food was fresh and tasty
Ivan Brekalo
This place was bit too loud but food wise it was great.
Barry Western
Best Dim Sum I have had and great value, we try to go once a week. Highly recommend.

Best damn Dim Sum in Perth for a while now...and i've eaten at pretty much 90% of all the other places..near and far. Food is great.. service is great...highly recommended šŸ–’

I love going to this restaurant. I have been going for years and the food is of a consistent high standard. Staff very friendly. I'm also impressed with the standard of wine by the glass ļæ½ļæ½ļæ½

Nice for Friday dinner. Average for Sunday Dim Sum

Yesterday I went there . Fish and fried rice over cook .

It was one of the worst chinese food i have ever had until this day. I couldnā€™t complain more to wait staff because there is nothing they can do anymore. Combination stir fry noodles were the least tastiest chinese noodle i have ever had in any Chinese restaurant in any country. I sent it back because i said it was so dry and tasteless, it came back even worst. Salt pepper soft shell crab did not taste good at all, i do know that it was supposed to be salty but not as salty as making me finish my drink in matter of minutes. Rice flour roll was crispy however what makes rice flour roll really special is the sauce and sauce was very blend , very tasteless. I eat chinese food at least once a week from different restaurants, none of the dish I ordered was my first time trying. Its safe to say that only things i cannot complain about that dinner was mayonnaise and coke zero, because they werenā€™t made by the restaurant.

A big call, but Fortune Five is my favourite Chinese restaurant in Perth. Outstanding dim sum - fresh, delicious quality dishes (squid tentacles and dumplings are all to die for). A la Carte menu is extensive and I have honestly not ever ordered a bad dish - from kway teo and Singapore noodles to Szechuan beef, the food here is always consistently delicious and fresh, and I have been eating and ordering from here for years. Highly recommend.

Good Chinese food including entrees and mains. Great service by helpful staff. Exceptional prices. Perfect location. Everyone was happy, even the vego.

This is a great place to eat anytime but we were very happy as they were easily able to feed us before a play at The State Theatre. Really delicious middle Eastern food. Great to share in a group. Setting is casual. Wine perhaps pricey. We will be back.

Popped in for a quick Monday dim sum & Tsing Tao. Was the ā€˜only guai loh in the villageā€™ in a full restaurant. Fast friendly service and excellent dumplings šŸ˜Š
Danny
Best yumcha in Perth. Love their chashu bun. Always delicious and great service. Other favs include their salt pepper squid and prawn dumplings.
Sammie
Delicious dim sum. Rice paper rolls with pork is the best here! Also the chasu bun is a winner as well. Actually most of the dim sum is pretty good. Massive lines on weekends but worth waiting for. Pretty reasonable pricing too.

Here's another dim sum hotspot in Perth! We were actually planning to have an early dim sum in order to avoid big crowd. However, we woke up late on a lazy Sunday, hence, it was already around 12.30PM by the time we arrived Northbridge. Well, we were quite lucky to get a street parking at noon time (free parking on Sundays).

There was a small queue outside the restaurant, and we've only waited for about 15mins to get a table. So that was pretty quick and 15mins wait is nothing given that the food here is AMAZING!

We ordered:
- 2 x Chicken Feet: slightly spicy but for a person who isn't a fan of chilli, I find it quite flavourful and appetizing
- Baked Salted Egg Yolk Bun: Not the best but still tasty (Note: it took me a while to remove the baking paper at the bottom of the bun)
- Pig Intestine Rice flour with Prawn: the rice flour was thin, smooth and silky. Prawns were huge, fresh and springy
- Fried Squid Tentacles: You can tell the tentacles were freshly fried with clean oil. The garlic, spring onions made it more flavourful
- Stewed Beef Tendon: It melted right inside your mouth, they've stewed it real well

YOU MUST COME HERE, trust me!

Good quality dim sum. Usual favourites are prepared with love and care and you taste this in the results. č™¾é„ŗ harĀ gow is one of the best in Perth with a light skin and juicy, sweet filling. 凤ēˆŖ chicken feet, 鲜ē«¹å· bean curd roll and ē‰›č‚š beef tripe also have great flavour.Ā

Service is efficient yet somehow they manage to be rude in English, Mandarin and Canto? But such is the life/trade-off with dim sum. The food is good so will be back soon.
Ken
The service was slow and the food was mediocre. There are a lot of better options in Northbridge. I can not recommend this place and make sure you double check your bill before paying. They tried to overcharge us by almost $10!
Chung & Sarah
Been here couple of times. I have found itā€™s quite busy as many people like dimsim. The foods are okay with acceptable prices. Service in here is also quite quick, you donā€™t have to wait too long for ur foods.
Christine
A very lovely dim sum place but always packed and long queue outside. You can expect up to 40 mins wait sometimes if they are super busy. Food is good here, better than those at Shy John Yagan square. Staff are attentive (but sometimes requiring some prompt, e.g. walking past empty tea pot on the table (lid opened) but walk right past it). BECAREFUL when you pay for your bills though, we were over charged a couple of times, luckily we noticed, no questions asked before the counter staff fixed up our bill.

Stopped here because there was a line so must be good right? It was! Abundance of Yum Cha choices. Carts move round quickly you can barely eat fast enough to order more. First Yum Cha restaurant where we werenā€™t ignored. Iā€™ve been told if youā€™re Australian you tend to get a different service and I have definitely witnessed this in other Asian restaurants. Fortune Five was excellent. Even though thereā€™s a line you donā€™t tend to wait too long. Prices are reasonable too.
Munchk1n
Good service, reliable yumcha, reasonably priced! I bought some take away for the fam who live down south. Also came here for a sit down yum cha - the freshly baked pork buns are delicious! Will definitely return in the future!

Our family's definite go-to place for dim sum. The food is always of a consistent and high quality. The prices are good. Service, occasionally, can be a bit iffy if you're not used to it (we are used to it, so it doesn't faze us) but being a Chinese dim sum restaurant, it's about fast turnaround. A great variety in terms of the dim sum offered. My favourite is the squid tentacles and the chicken feet. All in all, we love it and always leave full, fat, and happy.
Ilovebeansprouts
Dim sum experiences have been consistently good. Recently we decided to try dinner here for a change, and we're so glad we did because we enjoyed dinner more than their dimsum. All our dishes were cooked well and tasted delicious. One of the top favourites of the night- Salted Egg Yolk Prawns. Prawns were fresh and nicely coated with a yummy, golden layer of salted egg yolk batter. Food portions are generous and decently priced. Will be back to try other dishes.
Dumpling Love
Our go-to place for yum cha with fairly consistent quality. The har gow on our last visit were delicious with intact and chewy skin. The egg tart, sadly, was cold and curdled inside and I found the beef tendon to be slightly undercooked (i.e., not that soft gelatinous texture).
B & M
Old fashioned Chinese restaurant with authentic dim sum. Good choice of menu. Decent price and good food. Friendly and fast service.
Only one dish disappointed was " Chinese donuts roll with steamed rice ē‚øäø”" soggy and thick skin rice roll. Overall satisfy. Recommended!
Sharky
Great atmosphere and food for a dim sum place, good varieties of choice avoid the fun cheong tho as it is as thick as tar n sloppy. Staffs are attentive n fast, restaurant is clean enough. Avoid rush hour on weekend as que can be very long
Perth Foodaholic
I friggen love dim sum. Itā€™s one of those things that I could eat all day every day. My partner and I used to really love eating at Dragon Seafood in Northbridge however it closed down. So we found our new favourite place at Silver Seas in Morley. Recently, we had dim sum with my friend from Adelaide (a few of my posts have feature this mysterious ā€˜friend from Adelaideā€™ haha). She chose Fortune Five in Northbridge. Funnily enough, Fortune Five is the same place that Dragon Seafood was situated!
Luke
Some of the very best yum cha I have had !!! Packed with patrons on a Tuesday lunch time with a huge selection, all food was very fresh with generous portion sizes in comparison to other yum cha restaurants !!
Daz Booyah
My new go to Yum cha joint. So glad I found this. Not perfect but definitely the frontrunner in the Perth Yumcha landscape for me. $72 bucks for 3 stuffed faces. We had about 12 bamboos. Love it. Coming back.
Marisa
Best dim sum in Perth, and top it up with genuinely friendly staff. Reasonably priced for an enjoyable brunch!!Egg tarts are to die for!! Takeaways are pretty fun too!
EatingPerth
Normally we don't give any bad reviews but I have to comment on the disgusting behaviour of the cashier when we were queuing to pay. The cashier was throwing change at an elderly lady (around 75 - 80years old!), scolding her in Chinese Mandarin AND making sarcastic comments (in Cantonese) about her WHILE she was standing there. The elderly lady was mumbling something and looked confused. So the cashier scolded her some more.!!! Seriously she was so old, how can your staff treat an elderly person like that?! Whatever the misunderstanding, that customer did NOT warrant such mean and bullying behaviour. Makes us so angry thinking about it. Fortune Five, your staff has done one of the rudest displays we have ever seen. You need to teach them respect and common decency to the elderly, let alone a PAYING customer no matter where they're from or what their age is. We seriously regret not pushing to the front and help the elderly lady out.
FoodFirst
good service considering it a very busy restaurant. The yum cha was really good and they have a widespread of dim sum choices. please allow waiting time to be at least 30 mins on weekends.
Foodie In Paradise
Visited here on the long weekend, very busy place and have to wait quite for a while to get a table. Food was delicious. Great place for dim sum in northbridge.
Sam Wong
Group of thirty five came for dinner after a city tour.

Unusual circumstances including familiarity with the head waiter etc make it hard to comment on the service.

The food quality is ok, comparable with another nearby restaurant that we went to previous night. The service size is a bit small. Still I prefer this place over all the restaurants in box hill and Doncaster areas in Melbourne.

Funny thing is that when we said we would like to return the next day for yum Cha we were refused.
A prompt positive response of No. don't come. We cannot accomodate all of you. Strange!
Princess Zelda
One of my favorite places for yum cha , the food is really great and generally don't have any complaints. Quick turnaround between plates so you don't have to wait ages for dishes.Really busy over lunch times but plenty of waiters and service really great.
Benedict Uy
Came by for a quick lunch, although we had to wait a bit to get a table. The place was quite busy and bustling and there were lots of different items to choose from. Sister told us that this was the only place to get the salted egg yolk custard bun, which was really nice. One thing I didn't like was that the siu mai was only prawn, normally they are pork and prawn.
Eat For Living
Superb dim sum place to visit. During weekends and holidays, long queuing are expected. One of top 5 dim sum place in perth in consideration of food taste, location, prices and service.

However, most people did not know that comes to dinner, they are served good authentic Chinese food. Their host on duty, Tom's food knowledge are out of the world. Make sure you ask for Tom when ordering your dinner. You must have a try at this restaurant to appreciate the differences to other.
Louise Zheng
Not great pictures, but the food are delicious! Authentic Cantonese cuisine. Service is good! Food served quick! Just yum! Yum! Yum! Must go! Make sure you book when go in a big group!
Shameem
Delicious food and excellent service. I really like the sizzling Japanese tofu with salted fish! As soon as we finished a pot of tea, it was swiftly whisked away and replaced.
Aaron
Great new place in Northbridge for Dim Sum. Dishes were freshly prepared, ingredients were plentiful and service was very efficient. Keep up the good work!!
Chu
Very poor service, we ve been customer here for many years , but the poor customer service today overwhelm us. we wait for 25 mintues for my ticket to called out, and when is up to my number. the guy leading the table said " oh you haven't have all the guests, we will have to serve the next one first." ( which never list anywhere about this rule) . I go to my table, and they ask me to be out and can't serve me the table. When the other guests arrives in about 1 minute, the male staff insisted to bypass us and serve other table first and said to us rudely ask us to leave. The experience is being like KICK out by this staff. Ā Their food is also overprice compare with other restaurant , there is no reason for us to re-visit this restaurant.
Carv_Y
Great quality dim sum dishes, most items that we ordered was great. All the dumplings were tasty as they used good quality produce and they were filled to the brim.Ā

Service was good and quick. Although there was a short line for dim sum on Saturday but we didn't waited for too long and it wasn't chaotic.
Chris
Another one of our favourite yum cha restaurants. Although the range on offer is fairly standard fare, the quality is consistently high and the service is good. Their chilli tripe is awesome.
Dolba
Haven't been here in years and they've clearly changed management. Two lunches in two days and I'm happy to say they're easily one of the best Yum Cha venues in Perth.

Large, fresh, bursting dumplings and the best squid and sticky rice I've had in ages. Proper Lo Mai Gai, they don't skimp on the 'shrooms or the sausage.

Do yourself a favour.....
JP
We ordered several dishes my personal favourite was the black pepper beef it was delicious and the service was great and friendly. Would return again.
Pedro
Some of the friendliest service I've come across, with great food to boot. The deep fried salt & pepper pork ribs are phenomenal, could just eat these all night. Prices are very reasonable, including the drinks. Will be going back for lunch next time in order to try the yum cha.
Ben M
Sunday dim sum delight.
Waited for 40 mins to get a table - but it was SO worth the wait. Food was fresh and tasty and the staff were friendly and attentive. We will get there earlier next time but will definitely be back.
MF
Very good yum cha lunch.
Didn't have to wait too long for a table
The service is efficient, there is a good selection and you can also order off the menu but I never have
It's also very tasty and not too pricey
Juju
The food and service was excellent and at a reasonable cost!
Get a group together and save!
So popular, get in early as this place fills fast!

Our migration agent group gets together once a month in Northbridge to discuss casework, and decided last night to cap the evening off with a meal at Fortune Five.
This place apparently serves noteworthy dim sum, but last night it was a la carte dining.Ā

They started off by serving us bowls of broth which was just as well as it took ages for our meal to arrive. We arrived at the restaurant at 7.30 and didn't eat till 8.20. Considering the place was only half full, this was surprising as you generally get fairly quick service in Chinese restaurants.Ā
We were happy to let Egg order the dishes for us, and we ended up with the following:
1. Tooth fish in a claypot with special sauce
2. Pork spare ribs with Peking sauce
3. Crispy skin chicken with vinegar and garlic sauce
4. Braised greens - I think it was kailin.

I enjoyed the chicken with its extra crispy, paper-thin skin and subtly flavouredĀ Ā sauce. Ā I don't like spare ribs at the best of times and wonder how the heck you're supposed to eat them delicately with chopsticks when they're smothered in sauce, so I gave up on this dish very quickly. The other 4 in our group seemed to enjoy them though.
The tooth fish was disappointingly bland, although the sauce was flavourful. I felt that the tasteless fish had been somewhat disguised by batter and thick sauce, and the end result wasn't gratifying.
The greens were beautifully cooked, and I've never been able to duplicate this dish at home. I know some people are indifferent to greens, but I love them and could happily eat a plate of them.

Overall I found the food quality quite ordinary and I wouldn't return there for a la carte dining as I've had far better Chinese food in Perth.
Fooodmachine
I'm Chinese and i love the dim sum here. Always queues on weekends so you know you're onto a winner. Dishes are best when they are fresh and hot out of the kitchen so pay attention! All of their dumplings are full of meat and are well flavoured. One of the best dim sum restaurants in perth.
Emz
They do have dim sum as well. Which I reckon is nice and providers a variety of choices.

Tried dinner there. Great service from an elderly gentleman. Very attentive service.

Portion is generous.

Five Chinese restaurant is not particularly prepossessing either from the street front or inside ā€“ the decor is typically suburban, but with the addition of a tank of fish and lobsters in the window to attract customers. The food is, on the other hand judging by our recent visit, somewhat more pleasant. We dropped by early one evening and at the time were one of only two tables of customers ā€“ by the time we left an hour or two later, that had changed and many tables were full of couples, groups, families out for an early dinner with the kids and generally people having a good time. We were seated quickly, and menus and drinks list brought to the table. Then we waitedā€¦and waitedā€¦the waiter was deep in conversation with someone at the counter, then as that person left knocked over a bowl which broke ā€“ he then spent an inordinate amount of time sweeping it up ā€“ never has such dedication to a simple task been more on display. When eventually he glanced up I was able to catch his eye and over he came to take our order. The drinks list isnā€™t all that bad ā€“ a little better than some restaurants of this cuisine that we have visited but still no doubt a wine reps list. Mainly wines from Three Oceans at Margaret River, but also Devils Lair, Houghtons and interestingly enough Penfolds Bin 389 and Bin 407. A few beers and spirits completed the list. We set our sights on the Three Oceans rosĆ© which is a pleasant enough wine of the sweeter finishing style. The menu is, as is usually the case, pretty large ā€“ encompassing a variety of dishes and ingredients. Starters include spring rolls, won ton, san choy bao, jelly fish in chilli sauce and various soups. The mains emphasise seafood, but also have pork, chicken and beef dishes, and many of vegetable and tofu. We decided on a couple of mains ā€“ king prawns with cashews in a Szechuan chilli sauce and steamed tofu with seafood stuffing. With this we ordered steamed rice and a pot o

Very Disappointing. Waited a long time to get seated. Food was very average. Wouldn't go back here for yum cha.
Carolynne_earnshaw
Dim sum morning. Food was good service hit and miss had to ask for sweets sago ok mango ok
Very busy not very accurate with variety of dishes.

A whole lot of WTF. I'll preface this review by stating that I've "liked" F5. Nonetheless I visited there tonight on the ubiquitous Groupon voucher. Entrees were fine. I ordered they "veal with broccoli" and my partner the spare ribs with Peking sauce. When the dishes arrived mine was introduced as "beef" (picture attached in this review). So I immediately queried whether it was veal, which I was assured it was. When I asked about the lack of the second naming-rights vegetable of the dish (there was only a few snow peas), I was told "maybe they (the chefs?) forgot it. Kinda hard to forget a two name dish..? Also the (probable) beef bled blood on my plate and into my sauce which I've never seen in a stir fried dish before. My partner's dish came out fine, except there was a wooden clothes peg attached to the plate. It stayed there until a third waitress removed it with apologies. Dessert: I ordered the "fruit platter". I got 6 slices of orange on a plate. Very strange experience.
SK
Terrible food, terrible service.. Came in a few nights ago for dinner with a Groupon voucher and was largely disappointed. We waited 45 minutes for ONE entree and had to ask several times for the rest. Then waited another 35 minutes for our mains. Finally the food came out and I bit into the chicken and it seemed to be still raw and pink on the inside. Would not recommend to anyone. Never again.

Recommended. My husband and I used a Groupon voucher on Tuesday night. Even though the voucher stated fixed menu - we were given the choice of all main dishes apart from seafood. There was four choices of entrees so we tried the spring rolls and shanghai pork dumplings. Then we shared sliced beef Szechuan style - a bit too spicy for my husband as there was no shortage of fresh and dried chillies. We also tried the deep fried crispy chicken with vinegar and garlic sauce - sounded bland, but the chicken was lovely and crisp and tender and the sauce complimented the dish very well. My husband never gives feed back to a restaurant but on this occasion he told the staff how much he enjoyed the chicken. We were then offered dessert and had saigo with coconut milk - which was quite delightful. You will miss a good Chinese meal if you do not try this restaurant.
Priyab
Dodgy billing. I always wonder why yum cha restaurants do not issue invoices. Every time I eat at this place my bill seems to be a few dollars more than what I gave worked out but I'm too embarrassed to ask for a breakdown. For those that are pedantic, try asking them how they work out their ridiculously exaggerated bill.
Other than that, the food is good and service is good and prompt so it's always pretty crowded.

Best Dim Sum in town. Food excellent, service good, ambience great, value for money. I like.
OnePointFive
Best Sticky Rice ever! Egg Yolk Bun, Beancurd Rolls, Fried Squid Tentacles, Pork Chives Dumpling, Chicken Feet, BBQ Pork Bun were good. The only let down were Rice Flour with Chinese Doughnut (a.k.a Ca Liong) were cold and Egg Tart still nicer at Look Fook. Will come back for sure!
Anitafed74
Delicious. Went there on a sat night as a walk in off the street late at night. They welcomed us with warm smiles and enthusiasm. We were eating our entree within 10 minutes of entering the restaurant. The food was wonderful and the service was without fault. As visitors to the west we were very impressed. Thanks to Tom and all the team.
Aneta Anthony
Good food and service The best I ever had in Perth. Thank you Tom and your crew.
Ed
Wow...food great..service sucked. Have come here a few times and food is always good. But tonight the staff spent a good hour fighting. Raised the issue to no avail. Staff fully focused on fighting. Contemplated leaving without payment as sometimes thats the only way to get attention.

Lovely food and nice modern restaurant!. I ate here last week, bought a Groupon deal- $39 for 2 entrees, 2 mains, 2 desserts and a wine for 2 people. The guy on the phone couldn't understand me when I called to book in. I made the reservation for 5pm the next day. Got there at 5pm and the sign on the door said they didn't open until 5.30pm. Turns out the guy was new. Didn't wait long for the food and it was delicious!!! not many people in the restaurant so it was nice and quiet. The decor was very nice and modern, and the service was great and friendly! the new old guy was very nice and funny so all was forgiven about the wrong time. Can't wait to come back :)
JH
OK food but BAD service!. Went there with a groupon voucher and food was OK. We were served one entree before one of the mains came. After almost finishing one dish we checked with the waitress about our second entree&second main and apparently they have forgotten our order and came in 10mins after we asked the waitress. There weren't many people in the restaurant and the waiter forgotten to serve drinks. After finished our desserts the waiter came and apologized then ordered our drinks. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!
Peasant From Perth
Best prawn dumplings in Perth (especially when they're piping hot)!! Rather wait inline for an hour than go any where else!

YUM.... Cha :) I have been .... YUM.... Cha :)
I have been coming here for years.... That is all I need to say
Chewie
Service was good. Food supply was plenty. Cocktails expensive. Sexy friendly Chinese waitress's a plus. A lot of blowflies on the mushrooms ewww. Good value, I skipped the mushrooms.

Awesome concept..... Went there today because Hog's Breath and Outback Jacks didn't open till 1130. Gotta say we'll be going there again. What a great way to do lunch.... Yummy food as well.

Steamboat is great value for money, $39 all you can eat and drink including beer, cant go wrong.
Would like to see most things labelled though
Cactus
Had my birthday celebration with a group of close friends last week. The steamboat buffet was an awesome experience. Besides the tight squeeze from having so many people there. There was a constant stream of yummy seafood, and veges, and who can forget unlimited drinks! Special thanks to the manager and staff who organised a cake for me too! Will be back for more eating! =)
Ewen Ong
Great value dim sum in afternoons, with the Shanghai dumplings, Chicken feet, Prawn Flour rolls, squid tentacles and har gow a must have staple.
Steamboat buffet for dinner is great value too with fish, beef, chicken, pork, salmon and a variety of vegetables and desserts to cook at the table. Vegetarians can also enjoy the flavours of the steamboat.
A la carte menu is good too, with the beef brisket a must try.
Hungry Mafuka
Went last week for steam boat, best ive had and at 40$ all u can eat and all the beer u can drink ill definately b back!!!!!
Denise Tan
Good Dim Sum. This is a favourite for us! I prefer to go in the morning as the dim sum is fresher. The har gao is a favourite, plump and juicy. It's also the only place I've come across that has help yourself chilli oil/sauce, which is great (as some places are rather stingy)!
Wisatakuliner
Above average dim sum. Just like it's sister restaurant on the other side of the street, the dim sum is above average and service is efficient.
Giulia Toldo Lake
My husband and I are regulars for steamboat, we love it. We always get excellent customer service, the waiters remember what we like and are happy to help.
Jacques
Was there by accident and really enjoyed their yum cha for lunch. Was quick, simple good food and very inexpensive. Really loved their soft shell crab.
Get In My Belly
Yum cha.. This is my go to place for good, authentic yum cha. You can't go past the salt n pepper squid.
Kathy
Have been waiting for more than 30 minutes... Unhappy!!! Food better be very good!!! Nice decor
Devil's Advocate
Went out for steamboat for dinner. Not too bad. Very filling but the variety of both the food and drinks seemed a bit lacking. The service wasn't too bad overall. Could have been better but I've had a lot worse. Personally not something I'd do regularly because it's a bit out of my price range but as a one off dining experience, it wasn't all that bad. I did like the hot and spicy soup though. Could have been a lot worse than some of the other places out there. This place would probably be best to go to in the heart of winter. Overall, the place was alright. Average. Could be better...could be worse.
Daniel Bahk
Not worth it, better steam boats else where in Perth.
F
Used to be good... Average food, poor service. Asked for a certain dish and wrong dish came out, refused it but one of the managers kept arguing it was our fault even though waiter took down wrong dish and admitted. Will not be going back again.
Mike
Horrible service. Service was horrible, dim sum is average. Dim Sum trolley never come to our table and when it does it's the same dim sum over and over again. No other variety to chose from. We tried to complain to the manager and he would make up some lame excuses. The waitress pussing the trolley is so impatient and not to mention their grumpy face. Overall horrible experience with this restaurant.
Gary Hon
Food was ok but the service extremely terrible !!!asked for steamed dumpling a hour earlier and told us that the dumpling still steaming ,so I just gave up
John
Very busy as always .. Food is average just like all the other dim sum in perth .. Service is pretty bad order and never comes .. Could be better ((
Paul Langstaff
Consistently brilliant. We come here as a family every couple of months for Dim Sum. Quite often we are one of only two or three tables of Europeans. The rest being Chinese which is a good sign. On our most recent visit there were loads of Europeans - the secret may be out! Prawn & Chive Dumplings are a stand out!
Karis Graham
I love this place best dim sum in the city

Awesome experience for my kids and very easy on the pocket. Dim sum so Yummy. Just get in early or you'll be waiting outside in a line.

Extremely bad service! Theres people taking order but your food just never came. They just simply don't care.

Excellent dim sum, probably the best in Perth. Gets busy on weekend mornings so best to book and bring lots of friends to ensure a variety of food at excellent value for money.

So-so. Drop in standards for steamboat- used to be good. $39 for steamboat becomes $41 after they charge you for hot tea. There used to be scallops and more variety of shellfish. If it was not the season I do not see the point in bulking it up with cheap meatballs/ mediocre item. Soups = so-so.

Its a shame there's not much choice of steamboat in Perth that would push them to 'up' their game.

Their hot ala carte food and dim sum is not bad though.

Variety of Dim Sims. We went there with a group of 10, three families. The kids liked it and the staff also nice to them. The best thing was there are many selections of dim sims comparing to other places. Beautiful.

Really good steamboat buffet. Love coming here for the steamboat buffet. As an asian, this is something I'd eat at home with family once in awhile.. but at home you can't get broths like the ones here! Such as curry soup and hot n spicy soup.

Have been for a buffet meal here... they have a good range of meats, veggies and seafood which you can help yourself to and cook in a hotpot. Not as upmarket as the sister establishment (Dragon Palace) but still good value considering you also get all-you-can-drink softdrinks, chinese tea, and beer(!) thrown in too.

BUSY busy BuSy. This place is packed full of people on the weekends so you may have to wait a while - the trick is to get in early. Although the place is huge sometimes they open up the second floor (they convert their Karaoke Bar) to accomodate the flow. It's not my favourite up here but you seem to get food quicker so thats a bonus. If you want the real Dim Sum experience I suggest you wait for a table down stairs.

Great!. Owned by the same owners of dragon palace this place is consistently good. The place is abit run down but you dont go to dim sum to admire the furniture.

Recent addtion to James St restaurants. Sea crabs and other seafood oriental style. Traditional stir fries. In Northbridge. Stir fried beef with vegetables Chicken soup Deserts are limited but you can try for red bean soup or coconut sago with fruit. Food seems less oily and salty then other restaurants but this maybe a personal taste thing.
Queen Of Bad Timing
One of my favourite dishes here is the century egg and shredded pork congee. It's warm and comforting and plentiful with an abundance of spring onions and crispy wonton skins. It's like a blanket around my soul. Salty and creamy and just bursting with flavour

Likes: xiaolongbao...very unlikely to return because they caused embarrassment by not honouring the booking for work colleagues

Dragon seafood do a great job with their steamed dumplings. I really like their siu mai in particular ā€“ theyā€™re perfectly bursty with porky goodness.

Food at this new Yum Cha place has really got me wanting to come back. The quality is there and the price is right..

While its younger brother Dragon Palace on Francis Street is known for the posh and glitzy interior, its the older Dragon Seafood that still packs the punch many might have overlooked in search of ambiance.
