Review The Lucky Shag Waterfront Bar - Perth

MW Digital Storytelling
We enjoyed lunch and cool drinks here. This was a good place to sit and recover our energy, from walking sightseeing Perth. There’s a breeze from the river that refreshing on a hot day. We planned our day trip around Perth and decided to visit Rottnest Island too. Friendly staff and atmosphere. Clean amenities good location.

This is a great session spot and with enough screens you won't miss the game if you are a sports fan. Food can be hit or miss but the view and the vibe more than makes up for it.
Olga Rukova
As vegan, I would prefer greater variety of vegan options. Had a serve of Nachos - very disappointed. Maybe non-vegan option is delicious, but vegan one was blend. No flavour at all. Staff was friendly, though. Nice place to hang out, but please, bring more vegan options 🥙🧆🌮💚

Perfect stop for drinks and a great feed overlooking the water and South Perth. Great vibe with plenty of beers on tap & a pretty good food selection on offer. Outdoor deck on the water is the popular location but you can also dine inside if you wish.
Chips
Had a steak sandwich which was yum except for the relish that was bitter. Place has a lovely vibe and nice river view. Was a little disappointed when we saw a cockroach 🪳 on the wall. But overall it's a good joint.
Mark Osborne
Great water front restaurant with very tasty meals, views over the river and friendly staff. Nice area for a night out.
Rachel Payne
I went for a bottomless lunch and it was incredible. Staff went above and beyond to make sure we were accommodated for. The cocktail and mocktail menus were extensive and didn't single anyone out for not drinking. You got far more bang for your buck than other venues with similar events

I entered the establishment, lost and afraid, in search of a land where I would feel safe and could acquire a perfectly poured beer. Once I stumbled up to the bar I was greeted by a man whose warm smile caused me to immediately feel as though I was welcomed home. This man proceeded to pour me the most exquisite beer I have ever received. As this occurred he asked me, “sir, you seem troubled. Are you okay?”. I knew this man could see through the mask I have worn for so many years. I replied, “no. The last few months since my wife left me have been difficult to say the least”. The bartender, whilst pouring this exceptional beer, proceeded to listen to my story and gave me comfort and advice which I believe has left me better off as a man. I will never forget this man, the man’s name was John and since our interaction I have never been the same.

Lovely experience. Had a good time with family. Friendly, peaceful and food was just too good. Had beer, fish and chips.. loved it. Can't wait to get back...

This place has room to grow. It already has a brunch of lovely people working for them who are very helpful. I appreciate that they are trialling table service outside and that we have to provide them with our card to start a tab. The food was okay. I thought the Nasi Goreng wasn’t spicy enough and needed slightly more flavour but it was a good attempt. Also thought the serving size was a bit too small for a main dish.

Hadn’t been for a while but last Friday – glorious warm, sunny autumn day – we were wandering back from lunch through the rapidly changing and increasingly impressive Elizabeth Quay and decided to drop in for a quenching ale. Out of the deck at the back, looking over the Swan, gentle breeze, must be one of the best places for a drink in Perth – superb surrounds.
Travis Prue
Rude bouncers and staff.... never visiting again .. worst place in Perth for customer service .... no clue about anything... absolutely appauled by treatment .. you should be ashamed
Clay
The security there are overly gung-ho in refusing punters entry.<br/>Also, a word of caution to anyone considering booking any of their packages. Watch out for the old snatch and grab, as it seems management will jump at any opportunity to pocket some easy coin.<br/>They were more than happy to take our money, refuse an entire group of 15 people entry upon arrival and then on top of that even deny a refund for all the unclaimed food/beverages.<br/>It must be really hard work providing an empty table, at a "walk-in" establishment, with absolutely nothing. Unbelievable.

I’ve been the this bar a few times now - some with Groupons - some without. I love this place for its great atmosphere and music!! Always a great place to go for lunch or a few drinks with a great view! Definitely recommend.
LittleAsianGirl
Came here for a work gathering. We ordered some snacks to share. We had the seafood platter; bag of chips with lime aioli and tomato ketchup; polenta chips; nachos, trio of baked and char grilled bread with labneh and fava; and the backyard barbecue board. Really enjoyed the music and the atmosphere at the rooftop bar.
Ray Bedwell
The pub is ridiculous you can't go in there if you bought wine when on a river cruise even though it was in a bag the place is surrounded by cruise companies that take thousands of people on cruises
Nat
I have always liked this place as the location is superb... I’d always tend to have seafood here but last time I came prob two years ago it was not as good. I believe they have listened to people’s recommendations and it has improved quite a bit since I tried last time. I rarely see a seafood platter with two big pieces of octopus and this one had them, sardines with a citric marinade, 2 battered fish and 1 not fried, squid, chilli mussels, two oysters, prawns... the funny thing is it doesn’t come with chips which is unusual so you would have to order some on the side if you like. We couldn’t finish it all, it was pretty big... I think 3 people not too hungry can share one of these.
Frankie
Great atmosphere on a sunday and 8 years since I had been here last. Was pretty packed but good layout and the food was good. Not brilliant but not bad. Nice place for a beer in the Sun.

I find pub food can go either way half the time. This was a good one - chicken parma was cooked well with a good amount of tasty napolitana sauce and cheese. The waterfront view makes for such a great atmosphere. Nice having drinks after the meal outside.
Bethany Goodall
We must've had a great time because 4 hours went by in a flash! For a wintry public holiday it was pretty packed. The sun came out at just the right time and the fries were crispy and well salted. What more could you ask for?! The pizzas were good, the service was spot on and vibes were perfectly relaxed.
Ross
Great seafood platter and pizza. We would have preferred the burger patties to be more cooked. If you don't ask they're medium rare. Great service and nice to be outside on the river.
Tanisha Hill
Love the lucky shag for the atmosphere and drinks! But holy shit I've never ever had a Thai beef salad like this how horrible the worst I've ever had!!
Williespants
Great venue for a sunny day along the river for drinks, dining and catching up with friends. Drinks are regularly priced here, in comparison to the slightly more expensive bars nearby. Food wise - typical of pubs, decent portion and tastes fine. I had the steak sandwich - shame bacon costs extra to add and steak was a little overdone and dry. Otherwise the caramelised onion was tasty and chips done well. Service was a little lack lustre - a smile would be nice.
Paul Matthews
Awesome first date spot. Out the back on the deck the view and atmosphere are sensational. Prices slightly above normal pub value but sip slow and the view more than makes up for it 👍

Been coming here fairly regularly for the last 8 years since I moved to WA. Great location and generally pretty good customer service. I used to rate the Seafood Platter for 2 it used to be $60 and loaded with chilli muscles, squid, 2 type of fish grilled and battered,  4 x oyster kilpatrik. It was always a staple when my partner and ate there. About a year ago the sea food platter for 2 was changed to $45 and significantly reduced with what was on offer, the most recent was little more than an overpriced deep fried fisher mans basket, only 2 oysters, 5 chilli muscles no salmon and less fish. Dissapointing outcome. Also the price of beer is getting up there. $10.80 for a basic local Swan Draught. I dont mind paying over $10 for a premium or craft beer for a for a basic ale I think its pushing it a bit.

The Lucky Shag is pretty iconic in Perth.  It's got to have one of the best views for a drinking hole, situated on the Swan River.  have come down to the Shag for a fair few drinking sessions over the years and have always had a good time.  Finding a table can always be a pain, so probably best to avoid peak times. The food is your typical 'pub food', so don't go expecting a gourmet spread.
Renato
There are few better places to have a sneaky Friday lunch than the shag. Good pub food by the river - glorious. Handsome bar staff too... with real diamond earrings 😘
Jess Grady
Love this pub, always a great place for a drink and catch up. Can sometimes be difficult to get a seat as it's always busy but I think that is a good sign of a popular place. Summers out on the deck are awesome. Great spot to take ppl visiting Perth too and they always have the footy on!
Suzie Lee
Swan River views<br/>The outdoor area of The Lucky Shag is a great spot for a beer, food and views of the Swan River.  They have a great selection of beers on tap and the food is good (although I thought my nasi goreng was too oily).
DianaW
Great spot to sit & relax with a drink as you can watch the passing tourist parade as well as cop that Swan River ambiance.. The food is pub food  such as pizza & fish & chips, so like I said have that drink first!!
Stuninho
Good location and vibe! The food was ok and well presented. The bar service was friendly enough with a decent array of drinks to choose from.
Mo Loves Chilli
Great location food not that great <br/>Fish & chips were small fish not nice. Nasi goreng was tiny and not very traditional.<br/>Good to bring some out of towners
Vee Kee
Lovely water front bar with reasonably good food. The seafood platter have shrunk in portion over the years but it's still tasty enough. Relaxing place as well.
Avie
Took my mum who was visiting from over east here to sit in front of the swan. Lovely location, just took so long for the food like really long! Pizza was yummy and exactly what we ordered. Staff were friendly.
Ems A Foodie
This pub is great for what it is. But wear Wedges ladies, the decking makes for some uncomfortable walking if you are in a stiletto! <br/><br/>The foods not great, but it comes quickly and it tastes good. The drink variety is good, few on the tap options, and they do stock Drambuie (thank goodness!) <br/><br/>The ribs are good and generous serving, the seafood platter is deep fried and great with a pint of beer or cider. I love the view, I love the casual vibe, and its a great place to start your night.

On a balmy autumn evening I cannot think of a better way to wind down. Glass of Margaret River SSB, a platter to share, live music and fantastic service.
Coby Burns
The lucky shag is good if you want to watch sport there chips and nuggets are good but if you want a nice and quiet meal don't go there the service is pretty bad but for me that was only one waitress!!
Jimbob
After waiting 40 minutes for our food, I went to the bar to get a nice wine to accompany. I was one of two punters waiting and 2 bar staff high 5d each other and had a chat. When finally served was told it's a $15 minimum on pay pass and buying 2 pkts of chips would round it up. 1st and last time customer.
James Symonds
My favourite summer haunt in Perth. The beers on tap are a nice selection. The service however can be a bit distant and unfriendly. The seafood they serve though I find very good value for money.
Joanna
Nice food, if not slightly overpriced. you need more shade available in the summer!!! You would get more business. The tables are fixed and can't drag them into the shade!!
Mick
I ate the chips and then this was the size of the parmy that was left. Way too small.<br/>Admittedly, I probably got the runt of the litter and it was a busy day. The other two parmys came out of decent size.<br/>We did wait an hour for the food after ordering which wasn't ideal.<br/>Still a great location of course.

Once again Perth has no idea re service terrible bar service and starts with the manager who clearly has no idea when it comes to servicing clients. Bar staff care not and apparently customer is always wrong. Life ban for not so lucky shag
Dpizzy
Nice food good atmosphere and great view. Nice for a Sunday lunch and to have a couple drinks. It's also on the river front so lots to look at.
BitCoin Shaman
Chill area. Great service. Friendly staff. Good selection of food, wine and beers (24 beers on tap). Nice view. Good food. Definitely recommend.

I went today with my boyfriend to eat at this restaurant but we have been asked to leave as my boyfriend he's wearing his working uniform. Disgusting, was just 2 peoples in the bar and we are not allowed to eat, stupid rules. We went to Miss Maud to have dinner and nobody cares how you are dress up. We will not going to Lucky Shag again. Shame.
Laureli16
I come here a lot to watch the dolphins. Awesome venue. Food is average pub fare - nothing outstanding-mainly deep fried. But for traditional pub fare it's not too bad- a little on the pricey side but that's Perth. Great spot for a drink in the sunshine.
Grendel
Price for value this places sells the view - and very little else. A pleasant enough outlook (better once Lizzy Quay works are completed) but the food is just fairly standard, and thus an expensive option. Beer options are limited and could be expanded!<br/> Will be interesting place to watch develop as the area is revitalized as it has the potential to be great.
Nat
I invited my best friend for lunch at the lucky shag last weekend. I had very high expectations as I love going there for drinks by had never had food before. We ordered a sea food plate and when it came to the table ugh what a disappointment you can even count the amount of chips that are on the plate and don't even have to move anything so we had to order more chips aside... 2 oysters not that great, 2 pieces of fish, a few mussels average... I would not recommend to go there for a meal... For drinks it's a great place...
Perth Local
Aggresive security staff - stay away. A party of about six of us baby boomers went to the Lucky Shag for a few drinks and a meal. The table next to was full of young British tourists having a good time when one of the security staff tore strips off one of the girls for standing on the bench seat to get back to her seat. The security staff member was really aggressive and the poor girl was clearly shaken. It was an embarrassing display of aggression, the security thug was clearly on some sort of power trip. We complained to the manager but we are not confident she will take any action. We won't be going back.

Went to the Lucky Shag last night with a birthday group after disembarking from a river cruise for the birthday girl. The bar was almost empty and the bouncers has a pure god complex happening. We were not intoxicated, but dressed in nautical theme costumes from the evening. The bouncer was arrogant and proceeded to quiz is on how much we had been drinking, wanted everyone to take off their costume hats, check ID's and were still reluctant to let us in, when they finally did we were so disgusted by the way we had been spoken to and treated we decided to leave anyway....won't be coming here again.
Chuck McComb
Great spot but the door staff are knobs ... Not worth it, stay away at all cost!
RaMsaY
Disappointed and disgusted. We had a 30th birthday group at this place we were treated like drunken teens even though we were behaved and we were doing nothing wrong the host spent a lot of money on food and drinks prepaid to our arrival there just because some of seemed a little drunk even though we had people there that were looking after the group like weres the trust and respect that we choose a place for a birthday group party and it definitely seemed like we were picked on even by security drinks were cut off even the birthday girl had a couple of birthday drinks to celebrate her 30th and she was cut off even though she was fine and not making any trouble disgusted how we were treated by staff here

Best quinoa salad ever. Try it!

Beer is cold. Pumpkin pizza.... Beer is cold.<br/>Pumpkin pizza was ok.<br/>Chicken Parmigianas were among the worst we'd ever had.
Facebook User
Parmagiana. Beautiful dish. One of the best parmas I have ever had in WA.
Maree
Never again!! Used to be favorite city pub till today. Chicken parmigiana arrived with no chips, all chicken parmi's come with chips!! It's un Australian not to have chips. When I questioned the waitress she replied rudely it's changed you want them you pay for them, manager was just as rude and said the same thing, so much for customer service. The meal itself was no where near the standard that it normally is, the thin chicken breast was dry and tasteless, even the "so called salad" has changed from being delicious to a couple of hastily placed lettuce leaves covered in some sauce. No where near the usual standard for this establishment. The on tap cider has changed and is now a sour tasting drink instead of the yummy somersby previously served and the house white was bitter. Such a pity you have dropped your standards when it comes to product and friendly service
Nick Fudge
Menu changes and portion sizes are disappointing. I used to go to the Lucky Shag regularly as I lived walking distance and thought we'd treat a friend to lunch there who was visiting from out of town. We had 3 different mains including the burger with egg and bacon and for $26, I'd expect to be wowed beyond belief but it was somewhat disappointing and the side of chips that came with it was the smallest I've ever received in my dining out history, there was 8 chips in total served in what was a small stainless steel gravy jug! Seriously guys, if you are going to charge $26 bucks for a burger and chips, ramp up the size of the chips! The Chicken Parmigana which normally hangs over the side of the plate was again, one of the smallest I have had in my lifes' history and the calamari that used to come with a decent sized salad now comes on its own with a salad garnish! Quality wise, I would rate the food as ok....I still love the venue and will come back for drinks but think I will be eating elsewhere beforehand!
Owen
Couldn't eat dinner here because they have a 'no boardies' policy. What a joke of a restaurant.
Madhug1713
Very Disappointment bz of the Food. I would love Lucky Shag Fish and Chips and all the foods but we ordered Fish and Chips,Calamari and Chicken Drumstick <br/>on Sunday Nov.30th Eve .............Oh my God Fish and Chips all so OILY? and then Calamari and Chicken taste ? <br/>Please dont excuse for the Renovation and the Kitchen helper not enough all.Sorry to say.

Four of us went to the lucky shag last night (20/11) and what a disappointment it was. We are regulars but have not been for about 4 weeks. One of the group complained and was offered a refund which she accepted. At the end of the visit, we told the person who collected our plates that we were not happy with our meals and the manager spoke to us. Apparently they are cooking from a shipping container while a new kitchen is being built.<br/><br/>Suggest everyone should avoid this place until the new kitchen is finished being built
Shaun
Lost its cool. Food and service went from great to rubbish, not sure what changed but it's a shame. Worst burger I've ever had, the guy next to me had one bite of his and pushed it away. No one cared to ask if there was anything wrong. Such a great location I hope they turn it around.

Bouncer- power tripping sexist pig. Today I headed to the lucky shag on our way back from a lovely lunch with my grandparents in south perth. As such I was dressed nicely and came armed with my id out and ready to go (being a 21 year old female it's easier and saves time to be prepared rather than rummage through your bag at the door) and as expected the bouncer signalled that he needed my id. he then noted that I had a paper wrist band on my arm from Oktoberfest yesterday that I had simply forgotten to take off yesterday. He then told me I wasn't allowed in with said wristband... Thinking he was joking I laughed and joked back asking if he had some scissors so I could cut it off.<br/> However unexpectedly he turned quite sour and replied that he did not but that I wouldn't be allowed into the establishment until I removed it, not sure if he was joking at this point I laughed again and showed him the the paper band doesn't tear. He responded again this time even more serious and somewhat aggressively stating that I should use my teeth, and that if I didn't do so he simply wouldn't let me in. I am not a dog and I'm sorry but I am not so desperate to enter your bar that I will degrade myself in front of my family and friends! I can guarantee that the same would not be expected of a male customer. We were all stunned as it just seemed a joke and whats more it was degrading, embarrassing and discriminatory.<br/>Even if a paper band on my wrist was due reason to deny me entry to your bar (which it certainly isn't) there was no reason to be derogatory, rude, aggressive and sexist! Today you lost the business of 5 well mannered, well dressed and polite customers, all we wanted was a quiet drink on the way home from a lovely lunch. I can guarantee that I will never go to the lucky shag again and I certainly would not recommend it to my friends

Where did the food go??. Lucky Shag was always been a lunch time favourite, until they ripped out a few pages of their menu! So many favourite dishes gone, and with no new items replacing them. Choice has disappeared and so has my desire to return. Really disappointing.
Andreaeaston1
Down sized menu.. Down sized quality... I have eaten the The Lucky Shag dozens of times over the last few years, but will not eat there again. It's a great place for drinks in the sun on a warm afternoon but the menu has recently been reduced so there is less than half of what was available on the old menu, and the quality of the food has been poor the last two times I was there (Tues 23/09 and Sat 13/09). Tonight I had the squid which was dry, tasteless and left me still hungry.
Food 2 Run
Good spot, good food and service.. Boys over from Melb and enjoyed it.. Nice cold beers...be back again..good to get of the boat from Rottnest and straight into this place...
Andres Rome
Awful! Is a place for drinks! No more! They dont even have enough menus! I was sharing with the table next to me. Food late cold and wrooonggg! Hate it with all of me!
Tex
So bad. It's such a shame this is the only river front bar on the river. waited ages for my risotto and the rice was still raw. only ate it because I'd waited so long and was starving and couldn't be bothered waiting another hour for more food.
Jessica
Rushed service. Most expensive terrible meal anywhere. Came with a group of friends. Had the stuffed chicken breast with asparagus and cous cous. My skin on the chicken wasn't cooked well and was limp and chewy, the stuffed breast had NO stuffing in it. I ordered a side of vegetables and didn't ever get them. My cous cous was band and tasteless and the asparagus was raw. Very disappointing for over $30.

ENJOYABLE LUNCH. OK,The weather was perfect,it wasn't crowded and we had a good seat on a Tuesday lunchtime. We had the seafood platter and a bottle of white wine. The food arrived quickly ,it was fresh, and there was more than enough for 2 hungry people. Coupled with pleasant, efficient service we had a very nice experience.<br/> We read that there was a dress code, not today there wasn't!!! Men in shorts, thongs and even a quartet in obvious work gear. It didn't bother us as everyone's behaviour was exemplary.<br/>However,if a dress code is mentioned management should enforce it otherwise customers get confused. If it is just at night please make this clear.

Great place, just not in winter. I have been here a few times in Summer and it was great outside looking over the water. However, I would not recommend this pace in winter. Last night when we went it was pouring with rain. There were 7 of us and we squeezed into a booth, which wasn't ideal, but not a lot of table options inside. Meals came out rather quickly. Four of us ordered the lamb shanks, however the first two that came out were cold, still tasted okay though. When the next two meals came out, they were also cold and were sent back to the kitchen. The hot meals need to be served on warmed plates, especially in winter, as the food goes cold very quickly, or in our case wasn't warm to start with. We offered a round of drinks and an apology from the wait staff. The steak burger looked pretty good. I will wait for the summer before visiting this place again.
Jo
I never write reviews but we had a great experience at the lucky shag last night. Had the seafood platter and the food was so fresh, so delicious and easily fed 2-3 people. We were really impressed. We also joined the quiz night with Ace, and had such a laugh. Even won a bottle of wine. Highly recommend eating here and we will be back.

Saturday afternoon lunch. Very disappointing, 1.20pm Saturday afternoon told that I couldn't order bar food as they were at full capacity for food! Unbelievable. Walked up to the Generous Squire, had a great bar food, good beer and friendly staff. Won't waste my time or money in the Lucky Shag again.
SRC N EJE
Bought a scoopon because it was only $45 for a seafood platter and bottle of wine. We were expecting the platter to be smaller than the usual serve we get but it wasn't, it was the one off the menu! And it tasted absolutely amazing! Just like every time we go there! 2 pieces of battered fish, 1 piece of grilled fish, prawns, lots of salt n pepper squid, octopus, smoked salmon, chillie mussels... Salad... And CHIPS!!<br/>All I can say is wow! 10/10 indeed.. Normal cost is around $58.. Can feed 3 ppl :)

Worst customer service I have ever seen in my life. Came here with a group of friends on ANZAC day, spent $200 + on food. Before placing our order, a waitress brought out 2 plates of food, one of which was something we intended on ordering. We advised the waitress that the meals weren't ours as we hadn't placed our orders. She went back to the kitchen to check and came back and said they had been ordered for our table 10 minutes ago, meaning they were definitely not ours, which again we told her. She said to us, that's ok, just have them anyway. We split them between the table while waiting for our food, which came out a good 20 mins after - the timing you would expect at a pub on a busy day. After waiting 40 mind we had still not received our last meal and asked the waitress to check on it. Another waitress came out to the table and said we had already received our dishes. We explained what had happened only to be accused of lying and spoken to with a huge amount of disrespect. They refused to bring out our other dish even though it had already been paid for. The waitress continued to be rude and condescending, talking over us while we were trying to explain what we had been advised by her colleague. No apology or attempt to listen to our side of the story. She said she would get the manager. A friend got up to speak to the manager and waited around - turns out the girl hadn't asked them to come out like she said she had. We then spoke with the manager for 20 mins who continued to accuse us of lying and refused to bring out our food or refund our money. Eventually they agreed to bring out the food, and we were kept waiting for another half an hour. Absolutely disgusting customer service, incorrect information given to us by staff and attempting to steal from us by not giving us what we had paid for. DO NOT COME HERE.

8 very Happy Customers. I went to the lucky Shag On Sunday the 13th of April with eight friends we used a Groupon Voucher this is the second time I have come to this bar the first time I also used a Groupon Voucher for 4 people. Our seafood platter was awesome and excellent value there was a large variety of seafood not normally seen on other seafood platters chili mussels prawns squid smoked salmon chips salad 3 sauces 2 large fried fish 2 grilled fish and some other stuff all for $45 for 2 people. during the evening we went for the cocktail jugs which were very good value at $32 the staff were friendly and service was good

Lunch review. Came here with a few girlfriends for lunch on a busy Saturday, after reading the reviews on here I expected services to be pretty average at best and some staff were quite rude & short, in particular one male bar staff was getting quite frustrated and inpatient, most staff however were patient, kind and prompt to serve! The food was okay, my girlfriend ordered a caeser salad & asked for the anchovies to be removed, however they weren't which was quite a let down. Cocktails were also good & presentation was well done. Was overall good for a hot Saturday afternoon, just a shame they have rude staff working at such a beautiful place.

Worst Place Ever. Ventured in for a drink one afternoon to enjoy the scenery and rest our feet after a day in town. It took AGES for the bar-staff to finally serve us, despite looking straight at us while talking amongst themselves. The bar-manager seemed more interested in playing up to the bar-girls, who were all enjoying his performance, however our coffee left us less than thrilled: burned and horrible. We watched as the same idiot manager later tried to shoo a sea-gull away from a table by striking it with his hand then proceeded to try to soccer-kick it when it ran around his legs. He grinned at us as though he was being very clever. I'm no fan of marauding sea-gulls, but that's not called for. We left in disgust without drinking our over-priced, bitter coffee and when I tried calling to voice my complaint about Bruce Lee no-one answered. I also emailed my complaint with the same result. Its a pity such a wonderful; location employs such losers, but it's no skin off my nose as we will NEVER return here. Spend your money elsewhere, people.

A love affair ended over-zealously. I'm a real lover of waterside bars and dining, it's so pleasant and relaxing enjoying the views and refreshing air next to a vast natural expanse of lapping waters. <br/>My partner & I (a young internationally experienced and diverse couple in our twenties) have enjoyed this venue on numerous occasions, with a pretty good mid range of quality behind the bar and in the kitchen, as far as a pub goes.<br/><br/>Unfortunately in our experiences with the lucky stag, the door staff/security have let the place down a great deal, on a number of occasions. <br/>There seems to be a lack of discretion (or perhaps perception) in the vetting of patrons entering. The lucky stag need to realise when people enter their premises, they are not entering north korea.<br/>We were given a lot of friction for our effort as a couple to pleasantly enter the rear of the premises from the adjoining pontoons on a Sunday afternoon & ending up leaving after being treated like criminals. (one of numerous police like security vettings we've experienced here unlike any other bar/restaurant,,, begging the question why as self respecting people put ourself through it??)<br/> <br/>Considering I have sat in this pub/bar and observed as a leery brutish pest has pursued my girlfriend right in front of me, I wonder what criteria the door staff are working to when a young woman in her early twenties is pestered by some knuckle head in the early evening (I will add that we basically in the politest way possible explained we were obviously a couple and trying to enjoy each others company for dinner) . <br/>I can only assume that this knuckle head and his pissed bozo mates were allowed in because the door staff felt some sort of affinity with them.<br/> I'll just say that my partner & I had the humour to see the profoundly ridiculous humour in the afor mentioned situation. <br/><br/>We have not been back since despite the appeal of what could be a winning establishment, has offended & made us feel unwelcome. <br/>I used to commend the place. But courtesy and respect are incredibly important as is atmosphere. <br/><br/>Sadly an oppressive authoritarian feel clouding what could be a pleasant and refreshing experience, sitting in a privileged position, on the foreshore of this young city. <br/><br/>Regards, <br/>some of Perth's young professional and multinational community

Came here for lunch with my family from holland. Ordered 4 mains and 2 starters and all were fantastic. Service was prompt and staff are friendly. Thanks guys :)
Jodie
Average food and service. Nothing spectacular about it except for the view.
Brett
Adam, you tool, you mention in your childish review that the woman at the front was "possibly racist" then you call the entire place racist? What are you 12 years old? Have you never been refused entry to a place before? You were wearing shorts to a establishment at night - you're mistake. Tool.
Emmy Lou
Been here a few times, good is alright, threw together pretty quickly and not the freshest but you get what u pay for. What I wouldn't be ordering again is a cocktail, the word disgusting would be being nice! It was full of milk and cream and looked like dirty dishwater.. It wasn't even strained properly. When I complained the customer service or lack of was shocking. I was promptly told that that's just how it is. Terrible. Wouldn't bother going back. Staff need some training

Don't waste your time & money going!!! I had recently organized a large event there with 30 friends. The service was disappointing considering the amount of money we had spent there. The management & staff knew we were coming as I had called a day ahead to find out the dress code ahead of time. Not only did the dress code and rules changed on us while we were there, our drinks were cut off at 5pm. There was no need for the way we were treated as we were not intoxicated. If having a good time and celebrating my boyfriend's birthday with 30 friends considered against their policy then I will never go back there. Nor will recommend any friends or clients to go there either!!!!
Sonia
Poorly behaved patrons. Food is good, beer selection is good, location is amazing, staff were nice. The customers however, could do with an attitude adjustment. Very loud and obnoxious, and honestly just plain rude (stuff that wouldn't fly in most other pubs). Maybe we went on a bad day, but they were the reason we left early.

Safe yourself time and money and don't go if you want a meal. Food took ages to arrive in drips and drabs. My food only arrived by the time everyone had already finished their meals. Just a frustrating experience and really not worth it.

Only for the young. God help anyone trying to gain entry who doesnt pass the rigid rules of this bar and whilst rigid also very confusing .....tourists denied entry for flimsy reasons while on entering the bar seeing the same or very much worse standard of dress .The lucky shag is one of perths iconic bars the managment need to address the appaling attitute of there staff you are letting perth down !!

Rude staff. Me and my boyfriend went in to the Lucky Shag Bar of a Monday evening about 7.30pm looking to ORDER FOOD. When we went to order the waitress ( blonde hair, English accent) behind the bar refused to serve us FOOD because I didn't have my passport on me but showed her a UK drivers licence, clearly stating my age of 23. I said to the lady we didn't want alcohol just FOOD, but she still refused and was so rude. So we left, my partner and I will definitely not be returning to this awful bar.

Go to another bar on the jetty. Very disappointed in the Lucky Shag. We're from the U S here on vacation. My husband and I went to the Lucky Shag because we had seen it advertised as a bar on the jetty. As we started walking through the door at 4:50 pm, we were stopped by the "bouncer" who told us my husband's shorts weren't appropriate for the after 4 pm crowd. We tried to get more clarification, but it wasn't forth coming. My husband was wearing a pair of dress golf shorts and an expensive golf shirt. We hung around the doorway for a while to see who was allowed in. We saw a fella in a pair of shorts that looked like a bathing suit and a t-shirt allowed to go in. The next couple of fellas had crumpled cotton shorts and t-shirts. We decided to leave and proceeded to another bar on the jetty, the Riverside. There were were greeted warmly and served without a problem. The Lucky Shag did not score any points with us. Reading other reviewers comments, it looks like this is a trend to keep "certain people" out.

Racist and Pretentious. I was denied entry to the Lucky Shag, though according to the dress code policy on the outside of their bar I was not breaking the dress code. According to the on duty security guard (a young Asian women - not very friendly by the way, and possibly racist as well), I was denied entry because I had shorts that did not adhere to the dress code, though I am not sure because the lady at the door would not tell me exactly what aspect of my shorts that she was denying me entry over.<br/><br/>I am especially disgusted with being denied entry because I attempted to call the restaurant multiple times throughout the day and not once did the Lucky Shag ever answer or return my calls. I also checked the Lucky Shag website for the dress code policy. However, on the Lucky Shag website there is no mention of a dress code policy anywhere on the website. As I walked up to the bar I read the dress code that is written on wall, which mentions "no work boots, no sitewear, footwear to be worn at all times" but nowhere on the board does the Lucky Shag dress code policy mention shorts in the dress code policy. The dress code further states that the management has the right to refuse entry, however I was denied access to speak with the management at the Lucky Shag and have sent several emails and called the business since the incident occurred and I have not heard back from the management yet.<br/><br/>Following the denial of my entry into the Lucky Shag a gentleman with no shoes on was allowed entry right after me. I have multiple witnesses that can corroborate that fact. This is a clear violation of the rules that have been written on the Lucky Shags' "dress code" policy, which leads me to believe that this may have been an racism incident, as all the people that were allowed entry following me were all Caucasian.<br/><br/>I really am disappointed with the superficiality with which the Lucky Shag is run and do not believe it is right for them to get away with treating people in such a manner. This kind of behavior is absolutely appalling and should not be tolerated on any level. <br/><br/>The Lucky Shag in a nutshell: PRETENTIOUS & RACIST, GO ELSEWHERE FOR A GOOD VIEW, BEER AND FOOD.

Don't go. On the back of other Trip Advisor reviews, if you're wearing the wrong shorts, they won't let you in after 4. Just before 4 is OK but not after. And, if you want the toilet on closing but the door is locked, don't try a discreet pee behind a tree or you'll end up in hospital with 29 stitches in your face. Nice one, bouncers.
Michelewishart
Disappointing. Such a disappointment at a venue that has magnificent views. Extremely unfriendly staff especially the "bouncers" who are rude, opinionated and clearly not trained to deal with the public. A manager who could not handle the query as to why one of our party was assessed as having had "too much to drink" thus we needed to leave!! We had placed a food order which the bouncer promptly cancelled?.. Surely you should encourage patrons too eat if you think they have had to much to drink. This being only 1 bottle of campaign between 4 ladies. Our experience and overall impression clearly not a venue where you can relax, enjoy yourself and be happy.
The Hungry Dietitian
Good lunch spot. Enjoyed a sunny lunch sitting outside. Relaxed pub food. Ordered the ploughmans plate and was pretty happy with it apart from the pork pie where the pastry was quite doughy. Prices were very resaonable. It gets very busy on a hot day so try scope out a table before you order or you can sit along the the bench facing the water. All in all a good experience
Luke
Terrible service. Overpriced. Can't wait for more bars in the area!
Prior Melburnian
Decent pub view in the best location on a beautiful summer day! Well priced, bar service a little slow and the tables are nailed down which makes it hard for large groups to be seated comfortably!
Shacks33
Lunch here was great. The inside has really nice wood tables to sit at but we went outside on the decking. The views are amazing and so was the food. The burgers were so tasty and came with these little buckets full of chips and onion rings. They have a great cocktail menu and I can definitely recommend the 'shag by the river'.
Tasteeee
It's a reliable option with great location. Took a work colleague after some quick tapas elsewhere. The Lucky Shag is a reliable option for quick pub grub with awesome views. Seafood basket was a feast that could not be finished. Crunchy batter with juicy seafood inside. Chilli mussels were good but I could have gone for much more heat. Staff friendly but do tend to get busy so a wait at the bar is to be expected. Reasonable choice of wines by the glass and great beer choices. Great place to catch up on your sports with many large LCDs around the venue.

Dude, Where's My Burger?. My work colleagues and I decided on The Lucky Shag for a celebratory lunch following the release of a rather important leather bound publication. At first things went swimmingly well with the orders of fish and chips and individual salads coming to our tables faster than Campese on the wing in '99. We soon however met a snag, (and not a tasty one either), when one of our colleagues' hollow stomach continued to out chime the Bell Tower, first at half past the hour, then the full hour. So where was this burger? Despite checking with the waitstaff several times that the burger was being prepared, before hiring a surf cat to obtain a view into the kitchen from the river itself, we could not see his burger in any form of construction. In the end, there was no resolution and our colleague ended leaving the Shag empty and unfufilled. I however was very happy with my fish and chips and drink. The Lucky Shag, lucky for some, not so lucky for others.

The lucky shag does not shag up to its patrrons. The customer is always right does not sit well wth th Lucky shag restaurant, one of my colleages did not get served for over 1.5 hours and finally the restaurant claimed he had not paid. He had paid and got his drink but they got the tablenumber wrong. He finally got his money refunded. This was after everyone else had eaten. Poor customer service
The Gaz N Laz
4 meals ordered and 4 fabulous meals eaten. The only disappointment was that one meal was almost too early and was nearly eaten by the time the others were to the table
Delish Dish
Busy waterfront bar. Attracting locals and tourists , <br/>Good menu options , not many seafood options . Disappointing as were on the water. Sunday roast was sold out .. <br/>So decided in steak . No option for vegetables . Served on mash with salad . Steak was cooked as I asked . <br/>Enjoyable meal. Over good company

Nachos by the Swan. Every time I come here I never regret it. I usually always get seafood but I tried the nachos this time. Was still good! Amazing view, music and food.
Shasara
Not bad. Don't know if I would rush back for the food. Nice place to have a drink. Seafood platter was ok, loads of chips on it. My partners steak was very good though. 6.5/10

After previously having a lovely experience at TLSWB, we made the decision to celebrate my husbands 38th Birthday there. Great company, food and then what was an enjoyable evening was soon turned sour by the over ego security guards. We were a group of around 15-20 people ranging in she from 25's-60's. We sang Happy Birthday (as one would usually do when celebrating a b'day) only to be told soon after that we would ALL have to leave in 10mins as we were too "rowdy". I'm totally appalled & disgusted as we are not all trouble, and did nothing out of the ordinary - no smashing glasses, climbing on tables, fighting - NOTHING! We were given no warning just told to leave! As you can imagine a considerable amount of money was spent on food & beverages. I have no intention on returning to this establishment any time soon! Very disappointed! Not a happy customer at all!!!
Stephen Williams
I won't be coming here again or recommend it to any one. we spent a lot of money on good and drinks havering a good time celebrating a friends 38th birthday until we sung happy birthday to him and security came over to us and said we were to loud and we have ten minutes to finish our drinks and had to leave. We didn't even get a warning or did management come out and tell us we are unsure off why it is we got asked to leave. Highly disappointed with the outcome and won't return anytime soon

Messes up our order and brought us the wrong thing, then made us pay for it. Literally waited hours for all of the meals to come out. Have never seen worse

Gorgeous views and tasty food. We dined on a Sunday for our daughters 16th birthday lunch. There were 13 of us and we arrived at 11.30am to beat the crowd. As the restaurant is walk in only with no reservations we felt very relieved there were loads of tables to choose from. We chose a huge table with a view of the river and room enough for all of us, 5 children included. <br/>The menu has over 30 choices and lots of variety. We tried the prawn skewers and salad, steak sandwich, chicken burger and chicken vodka. Delicious... An affordable restaurant with mains averaging at $23 and kids menu $12.50. Our group paid individual accounts at the bar which was so much easier than having to work out the money for the group to pay in one hit as a lot of other restaurants do. The girl who served us was lovely and very helpful. <br/>Our meal and drinks arrived so quickly and the servings were very impressive. Our food was very tasty and good value for money. The chefs forgot one of the kids meals, which could have been resolved quicker if the wait staff bringing the last meal had asked if we were waiting on anything else. We were quite impressed with the ambience and it was a great choice for her 16th birthday, after researching for days on urban spoon to find a great value restaurant with water views.. This is it!!! How lovely that when we were singing happy birthday with candles on the cake, the groups around us joined in too. Thank you Lucky Shag for a gorgeous lunch and what a bonus that three dolphins were swimming and playing in the river too. Can't wait to come back to try the other menu choices.
VKee
The 2 person seafood platter is value for money and tasty. Much, much better than the rubbish some outlets in Fremantle or Hillarys serve. Good food, great atmosphere.
Jayne Austin
Great seafood that tastes even better when you're not the one paying for it!
Dalegus
Fabulous Staff and Great Food. We had lunch at The Lucky Shag. All the meals were beautiful and great value. One of the meals required dietary restrictions and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. It was really appreciated.

What you see is what you get!. I personally really like this place but don't get me wrong, its no fine dining or exquisite flavors.. its pub food in a great location!!<br/><br/>If you go here expecting a big reasonably priced pub lunch/ dinner then I think you'll be very happy! Service isn't amazing but again its a pub not a restaurant, it's certainly not terrible.<br/><br/>I'm a big fan of the fish and chips here, the serving is huge and they do really good aoili for the chips :) nothing better than a big plate of fish and chips and a cider overlooking the river with a few friends on a sat or sun arvo :)
EmLuvsFood
Rude Bouncers. I WAS a regular here, usually for lunch with friends on a Saturday or Sunday as the views are lovely and food is decent pub food. However, I came here a bit later one Sunday maybe about 6-6.30pm to meet friends who were visiting from Melbourne and they had bouncers on the door. I walked up to the door and one of them said to me "you look like you've had too much to drink". I WAS STONE COLD SOBER (not to mention it was a Sunday arvo, not your usual night for going on a bender). i told him I hadnt had one single drink and I had just driven there! and i showed him my car keys and he was like :O "you just DROVE here!". i was SO offended but my friends were already inside so I continued to try and convince them to let me in. It would have been rather embarrassing having to call them and say I couldnt get in. The other bouncer eventually said I could go in "as long as I take it easy on the drinking". For the rest of the evening the security staff would walk past our table and i felt like i was being watched, i felt like saying to them "SEE, IM DRINKING COKE BECAUSE IM DRIVING!!!".<br/>Im still not sure what made them think I had been drinking (in hindsight i should have asked). I am now too embarrassed to go back.

This place use to be one of our favs, now the location is the only thing that remains positive. <br/>The menu has changed for the worse, the food portions in comparison to price are terrible. The salads use to be amazing, now its just lettuce on bread... Fish & Chips is a tiny basket of chips with a below average tasting piece of fish not to mention you are expected to eat it without a plate... Pick up your game Lucky Shag, clearly someone in management is being a scrooge mcgee... 👎🏼

Disappointed. I was there the other day with a group of about 15 people, we all spent a ridiculous amount of money. We were there for about 5 hours, no one drunk excessively, plenty of water was drunk and food was consumed but the staff seemed to think we'd all had too much drink and proceeded to tell us so (I personally don't drink at all). They were rude and nasty talking about the group continuously. The food was not good enough to make up for their stupidity. Seriously a group of 15 all buying drinks and food (no one was drunk or excessively loud) and you choose to warn us about our alcohol consumption and plot when to throw us out, great business strategy. None of us will be returning and we will all be telling our friends to do the same. Well done lucky shag!

Dining by the Water. I really enjoy dining right on the water and when it comes to that kind of atmosphere, Lucky Shag beats every bar and resteraunt hands down. I enjoy a cold beer while looking at the water, it makes me thirstier and the salty calamari makes me thirstier still. The establish I am sure have cottoned on to that. I love the mini burgers they are not only a good idea but tasty as well. The Chicken Parmy is also good as well. I do not care for the chilli mussels but the octopus salad is great. All round I did like the meals but you have to go before knock off because ther is where the quality drops. I understand it can get busy there but the staff believe that good service only exists in tennis and as for the bouncers...GUYS LOSE THE ATTITUDE! A good resteraunt but not on dinner shift and a major purging of staff is needed! But apart from that NICE PLACE!
Amanda Flynn
Nice view. What a fantastic view, a little shame that the rail is at eye level so you can't see south perth but you are right on the water which is always a winner with me. We had the mini burgers tasting plate. Fair price, chips were good but the burgers were average. The blt was literally bacon lettuce tomato in a roll- no sauce at all, the chicken burger had no sauce/mayo and the beef burger had a tiny bit of relish. After watching MKR I kept thinking of Manu's "where's the sauce?" They were dry, wouldn't have them again and wouldn't recommend them
Dave T
Rude, rude staff!! This tainted our whole experience. Food is ordinary and beer is expensive as well. Will not be back. Plenty of other places in Perth who make you feel welcome.
Cj
Bouncers blow. Lucky shag is great during the day. At night the place employs some middle eastern security who seem to think that they own the place. Twenty questions before you can get in and some disgusting comments to the girls who were entering made me think twice. For a place with a lot of potential the management let them selve down by employing security who really are tossers. Get some people who actually invite you in to the place. It's not hard.
Suz
What can i say .... Our squid was chewy and our wedges were burnt burnt burnt .. Tortellini wasn't cooked ! <br/>Major disappointment
Adrian B
Battered fish and chips should be called batter and chips.
Aaron Williams
Burnt wedges replaced with more burnt wedges... Harrumph

JULY 2017<br/>The shag is a bit hit and miss with food. Chicken Parmi ($26) a win, Beef Cheeks ($30) a fail. The cheeks one of the most expensive dishes was served on a small entree looking plate! It also tasted very salty. See pics. This pub is awesome though for drinks!!! <br/><br/>JAN 2014<br/>Awesome seafood platter for 2! Lovely bbq'd prawn skewers, delish chilli mussels, lemon pepper calamari, grilled and battered fish, cold chilli marinated octopus, smoked salmon and salad, and of course plenty of chips. We couldn't finish it! There was also a side serving of 3 different sauces.
Patrick Hardie
Dubious pie. Beware, the Beef and Guinness pie is not what you and I may commonly know and love as a pie. It is more of a cobbler i.e. stew in a dish with a puff pastry on top. I have been caught out by this in a few places. Maybe I'm fussy with pies but to me it shoud be the classic enclosed 2-crust.<br/><br/>That said, it was nice and I ate it.
Marty
It's a pub on the water. What you see is what you get. A little silly that they have a doorman walking around enforcing the unnecessary dress code, but otherwise the atmosphere is good and who can complain about that view!
Rooboy
Most possibly the worst pub I've been too. Best location in an idealic spot but service and management don't exist. Food, if u can call it that is basic and too salty. Wait 20 minutes fir a drink and expect the drunk next to you to throw up on your feet. Also apparently have a history of cameras in the girls toilets. Don't here u less u want to eat salty spew and want to wait a millennium for a drink.
Les
Overhyped. Been four tim.... Overhyped. <br/><br/>Been four times. Food is average. Drinks are reasonably priced for perth. Accessible bathroom door never works. Great view but smokers are treated like lepors. Overall I actively avoid it for these reasons. But hey, I'm happy it's busy. Keeps the bogans from the better places.
Skye
Mood Lifting. After a really bad afternoon at the races, my friends and I headed to the Lucky Shag with the hopes of enjoying the rest of our Melbourne Cup outing . We were greeted by very well dressed security at the door ( I mean, how often do you see security in full suits!). The English doorman there was polite and welcoming which really lifted our mood. Atmosphere was great, beautiful venue on the water. Will definitely return for drinks with friends, but will have to give the food a miss..wasnt happy with the food :(
Girl
Bitter. Would be great if it wasn't being run by such an arsehole.
Ell
I wasn't happy with the service<br/>I was waiting at the bar for at least 40 min to be ignored<br/>So I just walked out with my group of friends, of whom where standing with me at the front of te bar in plain sight no attention given to me what so ever
A Milton
Best salad ever. Now im not normally just a salad kind of person, however the lemon pepper prawn salad was amazing, massive sizing and wonderful flavours. The food didn't take long to come and right by the water on a Summers day... A must try for anyone.

Fire lanterns!. Went on a Sunday evening after a concert. Great atmosphere (especially with the fire lanterns) and food. Meal portions were a decent size for price and staff were friendly. Recommend it for sure!
Kevin
Went mondaynight , wasn't busy and got completely ignored by a blond bar girl with bad attitude. Shame actually coz I love this place , great views and food!!! Will come back but hopefully this girl realises she works in a service industry!!!!!!!
Darren
Food is "ok" service is disgusting. Worst bar I have ever been to, which is a shame considering the location. Can not recommend this place and will definately not be coming back!
Jacsta
Nice atmosphere. Nice pub grub. But the rude and arrogant bar staff wreck the whole ambience. We asked for a menu and got told to go looking for one. Later we asked for a salt shaker and got told to go look for one. They asked for our money and were lucky they didn't get told to go look for some.
Melanie MacDougall
Disappointment about being disappointed. The first disappointment is we couldn't get in.<br/>Attempted entry at 9:50pm on a Saturday evening to be told by door staff that they were in "lockdown"!! We asked what this meant and they said were closing. Seriously at 9:50pm on a Saturday night.<br/>Second disappointment is that they did not reflect this on their website therefor wasting our time and parking money.<br/>Won't be returning here.<br/>Staff's attitudes were pretty poor also.
Lou Lou
Ticked all the right boxes!. Great food - Check<br/>Good Selection of beer and cider - Check<br/>Friendly staff - Check<br/>Beautiful location - Check<br/>I was very impressed by everything at this place and to say most places on the water charge you ridiculous prices The Shag does not, also has a really good kids menu!
Rich
Pretty average. Not enough bar staff Processed ham on the ploughman's. Stuffed mushrooms were nice. Steak over cooked in the steak sandwich. You also pay extra for the location. There are better places than this to go.
Killer Aesthetic
Good Food. Good Atmoshpere. Great Location on the riverside.
Liz B
Beautiful venue, friendly staff and great menu varierty. Expected higher pricetag for such a location. Only downfall was food arrived cold.
Dave
Food - good. Beer - good. Policy to remove hats whilst sitting in the outdoor area after 4pm is stupid. The venue is a pub - don't pretend you are a fancy place.
Danielle Wood
Damn thats good chicken!. Best Shniztel in town, sometimes does take a while to get the food out but the view is pretty good for the wait and food has always been large portions and yummy! Deff one of my favourites for a good pub feed
Deb Mac1
Seafood platter and great location. Loved eating here on a Saturday night. Was too cool a night for alfresco dining but with the heaters there we were fine. We ordered a seafood platter for 2 which was pretty reasonably priced and had lots of chips, 2 large pieces of battered fish, 2 med pieces of grilled fish, a decent serve of salt and pepper squid, a small cereal bowl sized chilli mussels, 2 prawn skewers and a handful of cooked prawns (required shelling). My partner was upset there were no oysters, and it was so-so but good for the price and the location was superb.
Mztiff
Awesome steak and steak sandwich. If you're looking for well done pub food then this is the place you have to try. I ordered the 400g rump with mash, side salad and mushroom sauce. My meal was smothered in a beautiful rich sauce with lots of mushrooms which I thoroughly enjoyed. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the mash was well seasoned and very smooth. My partner and friend both ordered the steak sandwich and both were really pleased with their choice. Nice piece of meat on a decent sized roll with a good amount of filling and crunchy chips.<br/><br/>They also sell Rekorderlig! Will definitely be back here soon.
SQUiD
Shagadelic!. Took the ferry over from South Perth for a quiet meal and a couple of beers at the Lucky Shag last night.<br/><br/>Firstly, best idea ever - newly installed built-in heaters under the umbrellas. Perfect for this sometimes windy location. We wouldve sat inside if it hadn't been for the heaters! <br/><br/>The place itself is well-kept and has plenty of seating out on the deck so everyone can enjoy the great views. Females will be pleased to know you won't be finding a grubby bathroom at this place. Men fear not, I have been advised you can still follow the match when you go off to do your business - tv screens in front of the urinals. <br/><br/>Staff were friendly and efficient. The menu has plenty of options (vegetarian and gluten-free friendly) with a good handful of mains under $20. We had the campagnola pizza - delicious goats cheese pumpkin pizza. Overall a rather pleasant evening.<br/><br/>Cheers Lucky Shag, we'll be back on the weekend :D
Roberto Iannolo
Great chicken burgers and service
Food Junkie
They have set the location well nothing better than having a nice cold pint on a warm summers day the breeze comes right of the river. Can get a little cool in the winter so wrap up. As for the food the chilling mussels are great so is there tasting plate in fact I've never had a bad meal here yet. Keep up the good work
Scottyb
Food was average. They don't refrigerate their kegs so all beer on tap tasted off. Staff said, "that's how it's supposed to taste." WRONG! Great atmosphere and live music but don't go for the food/beer.

A nice little surprise on the waterfront. Great value for the money, great location. Generally good pub fair, and well be back for a confirmation. Food 6.5/10 service 6/10 decor 6/10
Spoonmaster
If you go at the right time and take it for what it is this place will exceed your expectations. A good range of beers, food is ok, but location on the river is it's main draw card. On a clear warmish autumn evening looking back at the city it's hard to knock the place...
Edward Pencil
I love and hate this place, it seems like it's been undergoing a reno for years which sucks but it was the 1st place we had a meal in Perth so it'll always be kinda special;)
Luce And Scott
I wouldn't recommended going here during the winter as seating indoors was limited. Also if you want to stay in the venue after 4:30 pm, and you are male, you are not allowed to wear sleeveless tops or thongs (flip flops). We were interrupted by a member of staff who told us we must leave before then as Scott was not dressed accordingly. Beats me what the difference between when we arrived and after 4:30 but we were ready to leave anyway so we weren't too fussed.
Shaun
Apart from losing my order which didn’t impress me, I was less impressed with a salty patty that didn’t taste that great and a lack of sauce in the burger. Another unlucky experience at the Lucky Shag.
