Review Chilli Orange - Perth

Sze Mei NG
Environment: simple and Cozy decorations. Good ambience. Easily park at street. Informal dining setting. No toilet inside the restaurant area? --- 7.4/10 Service: A small bottle of iced tap water is provided when seated. One waitress, Young Kim was on duty. She was polite and served with smiles. Normal waiting time for food. -- 7.7/10 Food: Asian fusions mains and Western desserts. Simple and decent presentation. Price was acceptable. Desserts are good value. - Seared Scallops $22.9/Entree: 4 large scallops were not over cooked. The coconut & brandy sauce was watery. Spoon was provided, but still not scoop the thin sauce easily. Brandy and chilli wasn't over powering in the coconut sauce. --- 7.3/10 Mains: - Soft Shell Crab with Green Papaya and Asian Herb Salad in Fish Sauce dressing, $29: Attractive presentation, 5pcs large soft shell crabs were keep crisp from spicy fish sauce dressing. Not much salad on the bottom but it's ok for this. Well matched. --- 7.8/10 - Duck Breast (choose 1 from 3), Red Curry with Jasmine Rice, $29: Plenty of red curry sauce, like soup. Relatively large amount of carrot and bamboo shoots in the red curry sauce. There are a few broccoli, eggplant and capsicum, and garnish with Thai Basil and chilli. Jasmine rice was ok in texture and portion. Duck breast looked like roasted, likely in good portion, but skin is more than meat. Not rubbery. Red curry was ok. Not very impressive. --- 7/10 Deserts: good value. Three choices $16@. - Ginger Creme Brulee with Almond Cake, Crispy Tuile, Honey Sauce & Honey Cream: start from the sound of crack. Really having ginger flavour. Silky texture. Every elements were very delicious. --- 9.5/10 - Chocolate Lava Cake, with Macadamia Ice cream, Coulis and Chocolate Crumble: the chocolate lava cake in a hot ramekin was runny in the middle. The Outer layer of the cake was sticky to the ramekin. Hot and sweet chocolate lava cake is always good with sour coulis and cool ice cream. Very satisfied with the portion of ice cream. And the texture of ice cream was very smooth without any crushed macadamia. I like the sugar decoration on the top of the ice cteam. Coulis and Chocolate Crumble was very yummy. --- 9.2/10

My dining partner and I had a lovely dinner here tonight. We shared 3 entrees and enjoyed a dessert each (my ginger creme brulee was amazing). Everything was delightful as was the wine. Service was perfect. Best of all was the chilled jazz background music which created a great ambiance. Can't wait to come back and try more of their menu.

Nice little restaurant. Good food, easy to share, the chilli in the name translates to chilli on the plate. Loved the duck pancakes, duck bao buns (so fresh and fluffy!) and pad thai with chicken. Tempura sweet potato was only okay, needed to be cooked a little longer and kind of bland. Tables and chairs were a bit wonky. Service was lovely.

This is one of my favourite restaurants. Food is amazing and fresh. Love the entire menu. Extremely good consistent service. I highly recommend you try. Have introduced many friends to this restaurant and they all have loved the food and have returned. Enjoy!
Helen
Beautiful food and beautiful service. Couldn't fault it. All 10 of us had amazing meals. Very happy. This restaurant was great many years ago, so good to see it's stood the test of time ❤️

Went to Chilli Orange last night for dinner with some friends, it was a fantastic night couldn't fault anything. Service was first rate, food was amazing and the chilled relaxed vibe made it a very enjoyable experience.

Went for a birthday dinner and thought the food and service was impeccable. Glass was never empty, portions were generous and very reasonably priced. San choy bow was especially tasty.

We have been many times and every meal we have had has been amazing, everything is full of flavour and delicious. Can't fault anything. Staff are friendly and polite.

Situated on Angove Street in amongst the buzz of the local bars in North Perth is Chilli Orange – a modern Asian restaurant. It’s a really stylish place, with easy parking (car park next door), romantic candlelit tables, and is obviously a firm favourite with the locals. When we visited, there was a mixture of older and younger clientele, and a comfortable casual atmosphere – it’s the kind of place where the dress code is smart-casual. We ordered a glass each of the Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, a really nice brand called Whitehaven. Very fruity with a lovely clean pineapple and gooseberry finish.

Their food never disappoints. A few of my highlights include the sirloin with the truffle oil, the mushroom tempura as a side dish and the duck red curry. <br/><br/>This place is great for group dining or date night ideas. Casual but you can enjoy good quality food. Do yourself a favour and check this place out ASAP!

*Rating is a 3.5*<br/>Chilli Orange has been up there with some of my favourite Perth restaurants for the last couple of years. My most recent visit was a little disappointing, with mediocre service (one waitress who seemed disinterested), and the exact same dishes on somewhat tired repeat. We ordered the chicken san choy bow (good), the roast duck bao (good), sashimi salmon salad (exceptional), and the mixed tempura (ordinary). Finished with the ginger creme brûlée (usually this is excellent but sadly it didn’t taste as amazing as it has done in the past). The menu has stayed essentially exactly the same over the years (which you can get away with if it’s quite extensive), otherwise it feels repetitive & boring for repeat customers - it would be nice to see some specials or a seasonal menu to mix things up a bit for regular diners. Still a great place to try if you’re a fan of modern Asian fusion style dining.
Harsh But Fair
High price to pay for Thai food but it’s probably worth it for the setting and better service. It’s romantic and the food is great. Have only been once but was impressed with what we ordered.

Hard to go wrong at Chilli Orange.<br/>A very small number of choices on the menu but you really don't need to have it too extensive.<br/>The Seasonal Vegetables and the Seared Duck Breast both delicious.<br/>Wines, either by the glass or bottle are carefully selected and quite affordable for what they are.
Lakmonsta
Casual but fancy dining. Food presentation is divine. The service is just on but I would have expected more of it for the price range of the food. Dishes are quite original, and the desserts are something I would return for.

We went for dinner on Friday 15th Feb. for my birthday. Could not get service. They took our order, brought our wine then promptly ignored us, just like another couple who were there when we arrived. Others arrived after us and got served quickly. After almost an hour, some enquiries about the food, feeble excuses and general air of couldn't really care, we left.

Lovely venue with very friendly staff and a buzzing atmosphere.<br/><br/>Take note - most of the "small share" plates here are huge - almost the size of a large! When they arrived we realised our mistake and asked for some of our mains to be cancelled, which staff were happy to comply with.<br/><br/>Our small shares: sashimi salmon salad, seared rare beef salad, scallops, mixed tempura, salt and pepper squid<br/><br/>The general consensus around the group was that everything was cooked and seasoned very well and beautifully plated. I especially loved the flavours of the sashimi salad.<br/><br/>Our (final) large shares: grilled fish, seared duck breast, crispy pork belly<br/><br/>Pork belly was tender with a super crispy crackling. Grilled fish was the teeniest bit dry but nevertheless tasty. I'm not usually a fan of duck but if it was served to me like this every day I wouldn't complain!<br/><br/>Of particular note, the salads and their dressings accompanying these dishes were delicious. I could not get enough of the green mango and pawpaw that came with the pork and the grilled fish.<br/><br/>As diners, we had a great night at Chilli Orange. The food was amazing and every question and request was met with a friendly smile. We were probably a very painful group to deal with especially for a busy Saturday night - thank you so much for accommodating us!

This is one of my top 3 restaurants in Perth with a great selection of dishes and a nice cosy setting. The pork belly is out of this world and everything we had was simply cooked to perfection.<br/>

Having ordered entree, main and dessert; every dish was absolutely delicious. Chilli Orange has a modern look with a great atmosphere. Service was fantastic. Highly recommend!

What a find! was recommended to us by some friends and will be back very soon. Started with the seared rare beef and roast duck pancakes which were amazing and finished with the swordfish and red curry duck. I hear the chef is so particular with his food and it shows. Table service was so first class and made the night very memorable. Though expensive, if you enjoy the food and the night, worth every cent!
SweetPoison
Well this place is just divine. Amazing food.<br/>Amazing service. Amazing atmosphere. Staff are absolutely lovely and accomodating to menu changes. Food was delicious. What a fabulous restaurant. Bookings recommended.

We have had two great experiences in this small, intimate restaurant. The duck bao is worth going for alone! Really good quality ingredients and the soft shell crab is memorable.
Hannahk1992
We ordered through Uber eats and oh my days! I have a world of goodness in my belly :) The food was fresh, flavoursome and full of flavour... lucky I was home to lick the plate! Thanks Chilli Orange
FineDiners
Delicious food here, everything was very tasty. The only thing which was annoying was that the bun of the baos were all spilt on the folding edge before even touching it, so you couldn't eat them properly. The more you lifted them, the more it spilt and everything was falling out, ended up having to use a fork too. It took away the experience of eating a bao, if you get what I mean :p. <br/><br/>Loved my cocktail, enjoyed the desserts.<br/><br/>The overall meal was very satisfying. Nice, dim atmosphere too.
Katherine Loh
Really nice fusion food in a delightful cosy ambience. <br/><br/>The Red Duck Curry was quite spicy (chilli hot) just the way I like it. I thought the curry could be a bit thicker in texture though, however the quality of the duck was superb! Tender with every bite!<br/><br/>Scollops on Button Mushroom in coconut sauce was prepared to perfection. Interesting combination, I probably would order again personally, but it was well presented and prepared. <br/><br/>Soft Shell Crab tempura with wasabi was a visual delight however the taste was pretty average. <br/><br/>Overall the experience was good. Probably not a WOW! to get us back here in a hurry, but probably worth trying once. <br/><br/>Price is what you'd expect for a fine dining restaurant.
SinCity
Really great experience at Chilli Orange tonight, great service and tasty food. We decided to order 5 entrees between the two of us and it was a decent amount of food (we are big eaters). We got the salt & pepper squid, sashimi salad, lamb cutlets, roast duck boas and tempura soft shell crab. The stand outs were the crab and boas, leaving just the salad under standards. With a little less ginger and larger sashimi pieces the salad would be perfect. Overall will definitely be back for $16 cocktails and a great meal.

A nice place with a reasonable selection available.  I had a couple of seafood dishes that missed the mark a little ....didn't feel too fresh but edible none the less<br/>My partner really enjoyed the deserts so there is a good way to end a night<br/>Worth a look if you are in the area and  feel like a little Asian fair with a bit more attention to detail<br/>iIt is a bit on the high priced side so bear that in mind before you get surprised.
I Love Food
I thought the customer service was very nice, they catered our every needs. The food was extremely delicious and there was a great atmosphere

This place makes the best espresso martinis! The oysters had amazingly delicious toppings. The food was great. Nothing to fault about food or drinks but didn't like the lounge seats. Had to yell across the table to talk to my friend.
Foodieperth
Excellent Thai food... we were seated promptly after having a booking for 6:30pm, and we ordered the MSA tenderloin, the duck baos and the pork belly tacos. The tenderlion was amazing, it also came with sweet potato tempura which was nicely battered. The steak was perfectly cooked and was drowned in that amazing teriyaki sauce.<br/><br/>The duck baos were so soft and the duck was moist and perfectly tender. The vegetables and garnishes packed a punch off flavour to the dish. The pork belly tacos were delicious! The only fault was the tortilla was slighty chewy, but it had a nice flavour. An excellent meal. We will be back and highly recommended.

Quiet restaurant with nice lighting, great service. Very creative, fresh food. The desserts were really good, Enjoyed fresh salmon cooked to perfection. I'll definitely be back!
Take Me To Foodie Heaven
A few weeks ago, I caught up with Anna and Lyvia (@savourthemomentperth), Christina (@sprinklingofspice) and Lily (@foodieguide_lily) for dinner at Chilli Orange. Chilli Orange is an institution for modern Asian cuisine located along Angove Street in North Perth. To start off our foodie feast, we had the seared scallop and mushroom, drizzled with brandy and coconut cream with a touch of chilli ($19). With a slight sweet flavour, the scallops were seared to perfection with a soft and chewy texture complementing well with the earthy flavours of the mushroom. There’s also a lovely combination of creamy coconut flavours and a hint of spice in this dish.

Went here with husband and some friends a few nights ago.<br/>Great meals - excellent value - nice atmosphere. Highly recommend

Asian / Modern Australian fusion. On Angove Street's entertainment strip. <br/>Their food is at a high standard, flavours reflect the fusion style, servings generous, and service prompt.<br/>Deserts are delicious and served beautifully so treat yourself and leave room.<br/>Prices a little high E 18, M to42, D 16. But Wines OK.<br/>The downside for me was the excessive noise, albeit a peak time of Friday night, but about 30% of the patrons "found it necessary" to converse at shouting level. The size and decor doesn't bode well for acoustics!<br/>Last quibble is unusually small serving size for desert wine and fortifieds at only 30mls with Australian and World standard being 60mls. So we didn't bother.<br/>Overall this is a gem of a restaurant, definitely worth going, perhaps at an off peak time.

I've been here twice for dinner now, the first time the service was great, the food came out promptly and the device was wonderful. The second time I came with another set of friends we had received the opposite. The entrees and Akins did not arrive together as they had on my first visit. We waited more than 45 minutes as they had made errors on our order. We walked out very unhappy and I have not been back since.

Yum yum and more yum.....that is all. Apparently not, need 140 characters.<br/>Great wine list not overly expensive either, Next time i will byo

Took my sister out for dinner last night to Chili Orange on her recommendation. Nice modern casual place, we were greeted by the manageress who showed us our tables. In discussion with the friendly waiter we decided to go with four entrees to share, leaving room for dessert. We went with roast duck on pancakes with hoi sin dipping sauce; sashimi salmon salad with green paw paw, carrot, red onion, ginger and radish tossed in apricot and plum sauce, crushed peanut and sesame oil; seared rare beef tenderloin served with tatsoi, tossed with chilli orange and black bean sauce dressing; and salt and pepper squid served with sweet chilli sauce. <br/><br/>The dishes came out on a good timing; just as we finished one dish out came the next dish. The duck was crispy and nice fresh flavours. The sashimi salmon was a delight with great tropical flavours in the salad; I loved the sauce too. The beef was a hit, so tender with a nice dressing. The squid was cooked perfectly and the sauce was a good match. Overall, perfect portions and both of us were starting to be full. We decided to share, the green tea crème caramel with black sesame tuile and vanilla ice-cream, and when we took our first bit of the caramel, I think we both regretted we didn’t order our own dish. It was so delicious, and our waiter informed us that only 7 are made each night. Do you self a favour, make sure you order it when you order dinner so you don’t miss out. <br/><br/>Nice place to go for a casual, relaxed dinner with wonderful food. Definitely will come back to try the other dishes.

Chilli Orange is in a class of its own - Anthony is a fantastic chief and we have often enjoyed his food plus Kim is a super hostess. We simply love eating there

On recommendation from a friend we went with friends for a catch up. The menu was small for food but extensive for drinks but we all found enough choice. Starters selected were Scallops with mushrooms, Salt & Pepper Squid, Sashimi salad and Soft Shell Crabs. Mains were Steak served with Sweet Potatoes, Lamb Fillets, Duck Curry and Scallop. All of which were of a good portion and tasted great. Service was efficient and attentive without being over the top. Price was fair for the evening. One small complaint was that the noise level made conversation difficult, but it was Saturday and the place was packed!! Would we go again. Oh Yes!!
PerthfectBreakfast
I've been here a few times and the food is consistently good! Every Tuesday they do a $45 five course degustation but its the same menu every Tuesday. You get ALOT of food for $45. There is no dessert included but we opted for desserts which were $16 each. I ordered the chocolate lava cake which required a 15min wait. Half hour later, no lava cake. When it finally came out there was no gooey molten Centre which was disappointing so it was taken off the bill as I didn't want to wait for another one. <br/><br/>I liked all the dego dishes - faves being the Peking duck pancakes, crispy skin pork belly with apple and the seared beef salad. Least fave was the soft shell crab as batter was a bit thick. All flavours beautifully balanced. Great, attentive service throughout the night.<br/><br/>Other dishes I would recommend are the sashimi salmon salad and the battered prawns drizzled in mayo and served with lychees.

Went here tonight, food was ok but to be honest thought it was pretty over priced for what it was. We had the salmon, shared a salad and a glass of wine and it was $100... Flavours were ok... Not mind blowing for the price unfortunately :(

I  had quail as an entree, this  had  some  5 spice on  and  was  not  that memorable. Had 6 oysters with a  small dish of  a not  very  interesting "asian" sauce. My partner ordered Swordfish, this  was tasty and  not overcooked, but quite small servings  . Sides  were , as  usual overpriced , steamed broccoli and  cauliflower for $10. $13 for a  few  pieces of  asparagus  with cream/garlic. Noisy and  congested later on. Service  was good, had   two nice  glasses of  wine, but  will  not  go  back. I think  the  term "Asian Fusion" is used to crank  up  the  price  of asian style  food  that  is  often better done  at a traditional asian place.

The food was of an very high standard and was absolutely delicious. It was a busy Saturday evening and the service was a little bit slower as it filled up. But all in all it was a wonderful dining experience, I highly recommend it.

Came here for a birthday dinner. The food was delicious and we'll presented. Service was fast and attentive and we were really happy about that. Definitely worth a visit to sample their dishes.

I have been meaning to come here for such a long time. My friend that I came with has been 7 times! I definitely plan on coming back again and again. A beautiful little venue, great decor and atmosphere. Service was perfect; timely, attentive and discreet. Each dish was divine (4 entrees and 2 desserts). We didn't order any mains but the ones we saw come out of the kitchen looked amazing. The only downside would probably be that the mains were a little over priced for their size. $3-5 dollars cheaper would have been ideal. Be sure to make a booking as the small venue was full in no time. A definite must see.

After calling and making a booking on Monday we were shocked to find that when our party of four arrived on Saturday to find that our booking hadn't been taken properly and even after showing them my call data, we were still fronted with unaccommodating staff unwilling to recognise their mistake, all we got told was "oh that's a shame"! Thanks for nothing chilli orange! The old laundry across the road was overwhelmingly accommodating, great food, great service, 4 stars. Thanks for a great night 'The Old Laundry'.
Ben Jackson
Took 45 mins for entree's<br/>30 mins for a cocktail and beer. Two of the beers on the menu they don't have? <br/>Good food but a bit over priced. <br/>Good atmosphere <br/>Poor service <br/>

Great evening. So much great food to choose from. Ended up sharing 4 entrees between 2. Soft shell crab excellent. Reasonable wine list and great service. Little crowded and noisy but great vibe.
Foodie R.
Nice little Asian fusion restaurant on Angove st. we ordered 2 entrees and 2 mains for 2 of us. Portion is just about right, I like the pork belly with apple, very refreshing. Service is good, but $110 for two without drink is a bit pricy
Aburi Salmon Nigiri 5eva
The service was good. My watermelon cocktail was really good, it was more like a slushie, but it had multiple flavours! At first I tasted watermelon, then orange, then it tasted like lollies. We ordered the pork belly with kimchi, which was amazing, the rare beef tenderloin, which was also amazing, the duck bao, which was really good, and the duck pancakes, which were kinda disappointing in that the duck was kinda dry, you had to add lots of sauce for it to taste good. The decor of the restaurant was cool, and it was dimly lit creating a romantic atmosphere (until a huge group of people came in and made it loud and unromantic). I definitely would come back again, the food was so good.
Jan Campbell
Wow! Great meal, lovely flavours and personal<br/>Service. Went there with little time to spare before going to a WAAPA show. Kim made sure we had everything we needed, helped with menu selection and served us promptly. Seared squid and crispy pork belly. - yum! Curry and MSA fillet - perfect. Good sized portions and well presented. Thank you. <br/>
Vanessa
We went here last weekend and the food is amazing! With a slight twist on some Asian favourites. There is an extended selection for entrees and they are well priced and good sized servings. Not much of a choice in mains and smaller servings for the price. In entrees we tried the duck pancakes, crispy sliced pork belly and salt and pepper squid. Mains we had the salmon with crab croquettes and duck salad. Definitely one of the best restaurants we've been to in a while!
Natashya Cox
Love the food, didn't love the service. 8 of us went last weekend to Chiili Orange. Had heard great reports. The food easy really good. Pork belly, tempura soft shell crab and beef salad were all great. 5 out of 8 of our table had duck mains, and raved about them. I had the teriyaki salmon which was good, the croquettes with it were different but really good. Even though prices are a little bit high, that could have been forgiven, if the service was great. It wasn't. We had to keep waving our waiter and asking him for menus/take our order/drinks etc. It was a shame, as even though the restaurant was full there were 4/5 front of house team on the floor. Our group are all in our 40's and 50's and worked in similar customer service jobs at school (Coles etc) and Uni ( waiting tables etc) and would not have kept our jobs if we didn't do our utmost to give customers what they were paying for...maybe we are now well and truly showing our age!!

4th time... not a charm. We have eaten here 4 times now, as it is very local for us. Generally the quality increased on every occasion, barring this one.<br/><br/>My partner had the salmon. It was overcooked and a little dry. I had the beef fillet, which was good, but the accompanying tempura vegetables did not have the "love" in the cooking that we had experienced before.<br/><br/>At the end of the meal, when the waitress (owner's daughter) asked our opinion we responded with the above and were met with "that's a shame". We also offered our critique to the owner herself when we paid the bill and were told "I'll tell the chef". There was no offer of any comped item - eg our dessert (which was very nice), or even coffees etc.<br/><br/>I worked in restaurants when I was a student, I was ALWAYS told by the management that if a customer had a genuine complaint, that some form of "sweetener" should be offered.<br/><br/>We were disappointed and felt let down by our convenient local restaurant.<br/><br/>In the food world you can guarantee two things: If a customer has a great experience, likely they will tell their friends. But, if a customer has a bad experience, you can guarantee that they will tell EVERYONE ! That is why, it is good business to keep an existing (and repeat) customer happy, than constantly try to rebuild your reputation and get new ones.<br/><br/>We were disappointed with that reaction from the owner and have not been back since - this was 2 months ago now.

Along the increasingly popular Angove St strip sits Chilli Orange, coolly beckoning with its Asian fusion menu, its funky wavy wooden ceiling and its Tuesday night $45 degustation offer. That of course is what tempted me and a group of companions a few weeks ago.

Likes: duck and scallop salad, spicy red duck curry, chocolate lava cake; Value for money: ehh average, honestly the prices are a bit steep; Overall: special occasion restaurant, tasty Asian fusion food to share, bit pricey

Too long to wait. We dined at this restaurant last night, just a table for two. It took 50 minutes for our food to arrive. We asked if they had anything snack like to nibble on but nothing. It was too long to wait for food. When the food arrived it was nice but not spectacular. This place is overpriced.

Something different. We had a family outing there a couple of times<br/>we ordered seared rare beef with salad my daughter is crazy for rare steak which she like<br/>tempura king prawn is really crunchy which is better than some Japanese food outlet<br/>teriyaki salmon with avocado salsa(I would personally prefer without corn)<br/>crispy pork belly is all time favourite<br/>I like grilled lamb cutlet <br/>macadamia ice cream seemed kids favourite.<br/>staffs are good and good beverage range.

Great menu, excellent food, friendly efficient staff and good ambiance. Perfect evening.

Beautiful food!!. Have been to this delightful restaurant a few times now.<br/>The food is always fresh and tasty. <br/>This time I had the crispy duck pancakes for entree. They were delicious and a very good size too. For main I had the salmon which was cooked to perfection. Again a very good size meal.<br/>The service is top notch too and the drink menu is extensive.<br/>Cant fault this place.<br/>Absolutely love it!!!

Loved this place. Couldn't fault it. Really fresh, beautifully cooked food, relaxed atmosphere, great service and friendly staff. It's what a restaurant should be like.
ANGRY COFFEE MAN
Great food, but very expensive.. Food was generally nice.<br/><br/>Not a fan of seafood so it was a challenge. I had the fillet of lamb, which for me was just average. However, my grandmother had the thinly sliced beef (or lamb) with chilli, and we swapped dishes as she found it too hot. She didn't like her dish, I didn't like mine...but she absolutely loved my one and I absolutely loved her one. So it was a win win situation.<br/><br/>Service was excellent from the woman who I presume is the owner. Food however is extremely expensive!
Mrs_ox_qtn
Absolutely fantastic. Delicious food and great friendly service. An overall winner and highly recommend.

Wouldn't go back. Went with.... Wouldn't go back.<br/>Went with a group of 8 to try this place. Waited 2hrs for mains to come out...unbelievable. Food is overpriced and very small portions. Ordered the rump steak with truffle oil ($44) was the size of a lemon wedge!!! Dissapointing.<br/>Customer service average.<br/>You decide....
Matt
Unbelievable feed. Will definitely be going back on a regular basis and will recommend this place to a lot of people. Nearly as good as her Pho she used to make, we do miss that awesome Pho.

Delicious food and great service. I came here for a special occasion with a group of 12 friends last Saturday night. <br/>We pretty much ordered everything on the menu and shared it. <br/>The food was delicious and came out quickly. <br/>My 3 favourite entrees were the oysters with soy sauce dressing, roasted duck on pancake and sashimi salmon salad.<br/>The red curry duck was by far my favourite main - it was a sweet curry with bamboo and eggplant, I couldn't get enough of the sauce on my jasmine rice.<br/>I was lucky to try all the desserts, if I had to choose one to recommend, try the chocolate lava cake, very decadent!<br/>The staff were very friendly, attentive and helpful.<br/>It is abit expensive but seeing as we went for a special occassion it was definately worth it!
Sluv
Dined here last night . Food nice if a bit pricey for the portions you get. Not much options on red wine list and I think a lot of places have a lend of you with the prices they charge. Also thought $16 and above for desserts was also expensive. Wooden chairs slippery and uncomfortable. Probably won't be back. There are lots of other places that charge $12 for dessert which is more reasonable.

Loved it! My boyfriend and I love trying out all the little restaurants around perth and we visited here for the first time to other night, and I can definitely say that it will not be the last! The whole atmosphere was warm yet professional and out waitress was ready to help us with anything we needed. My partner mentioned to the waitress that I did not eat one of the elements in the sauce of one of the dishes, and not only did the waitress patiently pursue options for me, but the chef was prepared to tweak a part of the dish to my liking. Very lovely gesture. This meant a lot to me because I am normally too embarrassed to make requests. Food was beautiful and so full of mouth watering flavours and the service was so attentive and hospitable. Thank you Chilli Orange.
Lisa Cunningham
Fabulous. This was a definite 8.5 out of 10! the flavours were perfectly balanced in all our dishes. I had salmon sashimi as an entree and wondered how they made a margin considering the size of the serving and price. Absolutely delicious ! The pork belly was beautiful .. crisp five spice with perfectly fresh salad. faultless.
Terranovaphilip
Out Of This World. Have been to Chilli Orange twice now and had our mind blown on both occassions. First time we went we opted to have a tappas style endulgence from the vast entree list, every dish we had was just faultless. Second time we went there was a group of us and we did it more traditionaly with entree's to share then mains then deserts. It is well worth a try you wont be sorry
Sugar Plum Fairy
Will be back...... Chilli Orange is a must! We shared the Soft Shell crab entree, entree's are a very generous size. I had the Salmon for my main and my partner had the Duck Red Curry - the salmon was great, cooked perfeclty and the little crab and potatoe crouquettes were amazing. My partner LOVED the curry and said the duck was fallign apart it was so tender. We shared the chocolate lava caked with macadamia ice cream....this desset is a must if you love chocolate! The whole menu is great, lots of dishes to choose from, they also have a pretty good wine list compared to most places. Can't wait to go back and try some more dishes!

Fusion Asian North Perth. Had the curry duck and colleague had the salmon - both around $35 eaCH. Then had the ginger creme brulee for desert. The ginger added a nice touch to conventional desert. Deserts were about $16 each. The retaurant was abuzz and full. Have to get the early. The service is fast and efficient. Meals are plated as single serves but we asked if we could share. The staff were happy for this.

Creme Brulee. Service good, food generally very tasty. I had the creme Brulee with ginger, disappointed with this dessert - it was more like plain old custard and not a firm consistency :-(
Kimberley
Outstanding! Thank you!. I've dined at Chilli Orange twice in the last two months, and both times i have been so happy with the outcome.<br/><br/>Now the first time was a Tuesday night and we decided to take the baby. Now at 14 months it is probably not the best place to take her on Friday or Saturday but on that Tuesday the staff were amazing! They kept her company and smiled and played as we quickly got indigestion from feeling guilty from bringing a baby, as others wanted a more intimate dining experience. And with a Tuesday night you could get intimate and quite if we weren't there :)<br/>Now the food was beautiful. Clean, crisp Asian flavours are the primary, we had a few entrees then had desserts which were also simply and lovely.<br/><br/>Next visit was on a busy Friday night. Our group of 5 ordered all but 2 of the entrees and they came out at regular intervals and once again the flavours were amazing and did not disappoint.<br/>We also had dessert and they too did not disappoint. However our friend who had the ginger brûlée said it could have been more gingery however i thought it was gingery enough.<br/><br/>Great drinks list also.<br/><br/>My one complaint from our experiences is that it is very dimly lit, and dining with older ppl we had to get the phones out to put a light on. <br/><br/>Highly recommend this place!!!!!

Good service. Good mains. Disappointing desserts.. My friends and i caught up for dinner here over the weekend. <br/>The restaurant is small which isnt really a problem but we walk in and there is no host desk but instead we were just hovering over diners.. Service was definitely good and efficient and no fault there.. Being a small restaurant it was a tad bit noisy but i guess most places are on a Saturday night.<br/><br/>We had a variety of dishes. <br/>For entree.. the tempura crab, scallops and mushrooms and oysters. The oysters were dfinitely a standout.. fresh and delicious. <br/><br/>For mains we shared the prawn curry, swordfish special, salmon. I particularly liked the swordfish special which came with a green papaya salad. <br/><br/>The desserts unfortunately were disappointing. We had the ginger brulee, green tea creme caramel and lava cake. They all came with vanilla ice cream and the brulee with the ginger was prob the best but still nothing great. <br/><br/>I dont know if it were good enough to be back though.

Outstanding. Best dining e.... Outstanding. <br/>Best dining experience for a long while.

Decor..great. Service..great. Food..fantastic. Succulent duck, perfect scallops, fabulous chargrilled prawns. Ginger creme brulee with coconut sponge..an absolute winner. Thanks. We'll be back.
Vino
Awesome. We ate entree dishes all night for the variety of flavour. 9.5/10. Soft crab was the weakest dish. Duck pancake the best.

Went there for dinner for the first time and was blown away with the amazing good. Entrée, mains and dessert all were a hit! Definitely a top favorite now!

Heard good reviews; went this week; wouldn't rush back. It was "nice".There are so many restaurants in Perth and Chilli Orange doesn't offer anything that a standard restaurant offers. Entrees were good and so to was that presentation. Asparagus wrapped in beef was tasty. Mains were not something I would rush back to. Prices for mains were in high 30s and not justified. Dessert was nice and presented well. If I was to go back I would have a couple of entrees and dessert.

Exceptional Food. I've just had my second visit in a week to Chilli Orange and it is officially my new favourite restaurant. The food is so fresh and tasty, the atmosphere is great and the service is friendly. You would have to go a long way i.e.; Melbourne to find better modern asian cuisine than this. It's a winner.

Hands down the best lamb cutlets ever!! Blown away by the explosion if flavour!! <br/><br/>Will be back very very soon and going to tell the whole world about it!!

Worth a visit!. Delicious food, great ambiance, charming staff and reasonable price.<br/>Good menu variety, excellent wines and efficient service.<br/>3 courses and wine for 4 people ~$90/head. <br/>Good value I'd say!
Bebe
They don't know how to manage the time of each course. After ordering..entree came after half an hour. Then the main came after finishing the entree roughly about 1 minute. Hmmm.. So we had to tell them we wanted the sweet came not so soon and want all sweet came at the same time. Overall the food was quite substantial but quality nothing to compare with French or Italian restaurants where you pay the same amount of money.

Disappointing. We ate at this restaurant last Friday evening. The entree which we shared - crisp squid was very good and we began to feel that we had found a good restaurant at last.<br/>We then shared 2 main courses: 5 spice Duck with scallops etc, and Salmon with avocado/corn salad. The duck was a sliced breast with perhaps vague hints of 5 spice; this had been had been cooked some time previous to our order. It was cool, dry and uninteresting. The scallops were quite nice. The eggplant in the dish was pleasant. The salmon was a minuscule serve. It was overcooked. The corn was probably either frozen or canned. This seems odd, because there is still plenty of nice fresh corn available. <br/>We left feeling yet again very disappointed. It seems to me that local people are very easily pleased!

Yum. Faced with so many choices 4 of us decided to order from the entrees and share. We started with crab, squid, pork belly and duck pancakes. Then followed up with more soft shelled crab because it was so good, prawns, scallops and a vege side dish. The scallops were let down by the mushrooms - something about the sauce or combination wasn't quite right. We shared a meringue and a lava cake for dessert - again something about the meringue wasn't quite right but the lava cake was awesome. With a bottle of wine and coffee it worked out to be quite reasonable.

AMAZING FOOD AND SERVICE!. Heavenly food, fantastic ambience and fantastic service.<br/><br/>We had the:<br/>Pork belly in apple sauce - Succulent meat with a crispy skin. Amazing contrast to the apple sauce. <br/>Soft shell crab - Yum yum yum. Tasted amazing!<br/>Duck and Scallops - best cooked scallops and duck I've ever had.<br/>Teriyaki salmon - fantastically cooked and great flavours. <br/>Lava cake- chocolate lover's paradise<br/>Ginger creme brulee - unbelievably delicious. Ginger does not overpower. Great flavours. <br/><br/>Service was efficient, professional and very friendly. The waiter's were fantastic, they made great recommendations and were very helpful and efficient.<br/><br/>Will visit again and recommend to our friends.

Ate here last night with a group of friends. I only have one negative, they ran out oysters but didn't tell us until the rest of the entrees had come out leaving one person without. The rest of the food was amazing, the salmon was the best if had in perth, amazing dish. And the chocolate lava cake......wow. Will defenatly be back. <br/>Also very slow on offering water and drinks, again the food makes up for this.
Clelia.brabazon
Delightful!!. Enjoyed a wonderful meal with my party of 8 friends and for once all of us agreed the best meal and comfortable setting we have had in ages. Food amazing , service impeccable and restaurant beautifully decorated. We will definitely be back for more!! Thankyou ( party for 8 under Daniel)

Fabulous Dinner. We had dinner at Chilli Orange on Saturday night (22/02/2014) with friends. The food was divine, the service was attentive but not excessive and the ambiance was fabulous. Will be back again to try out more of the extensive choices on the menu. The wines were superb and their drinks list was wide ranging. Would highly recommend Chilli Orange as a place for couples, a group of friends and even work colleagues. Cannot wait until our next meal there.

Beyond expectations. Having walked by Chilli Orange a couple of times previously, our curiosity was piqued - the establishment looked elegant and welcoming. After we spent an evening there, we eventually walked out really quite satisfied, thank you very much!<br/>The seats, tables, and music (Frank Sinatra and Johnny Cash) were spot on - and the fact that two entire walls are pretty much glass allowed natural light (plus street lights) to create a cool ambience.<br/>The food. The entree list is long and all the choices looked awesome - we had oysters - 6 for $18 is pretty good when you get some places charging $4 an oyster. They were silky special, and served with a dipping sauce (a combo of lemon grass, coriander, chilli and soy). The Lovely had soft shell crabs with delicate wasabi mayonnaise. Good sized servings.<br/>For mains I had 5 spiced duck, scallops, roasted eggplant + lemony oily dressing with red onion and swiss chard. Yummmmm. The Lovely had the swordfish, bok-choy, black olive tapenade. So good.<br/>We shared a ginger creme brulee - with a hot biscuit cake, cream and a curved shard of white chocolate. <br/>The service was good, didn't hover, interested chat when there, and poured a beer on a tilted tray - strong thumbs! <br/>Price - was $150 for the night - included 2 beers at $11 and a water for $10.<br/>I reckon we'll go again...

AMAZING FOOD. Really glad I tried it here, I ordered lots of different things to try off the small menu, everything was AMAZING!!! The desserts were really good!!
Esther
I really loved the food and the service..Try salmon as my boyfriend and I loved it so much~~

SIMPLY SUPERB!. Hands down, one of the best meals that we have enjoyed in many years in Perth. Very pleasant staff, inviting atmosphere and the food was fantastic. Subtle, mouth-watering combinations of Asian-Australian favorites. Good portions justify pricing. <br/><br/>We'll be back... soon
Yen
Food is nice but service was awful. We were not offered drinks often enough. Took us 2hrs to get our main dishes. I don't think I will return there considering that the staff thought it was acceptable as they were short staff. Perhaps they could approach tables and explain their situation rather than let us all sit there wondering where our meals were...
Kate Pearson
Average food. To be oh eat the starters were nice but did not warrant the price. Our mains were very poor with a fatty duck curry and a dry salmon steak we left early feeling let down. Not the delicate Asian flavours we were hoping for and for the price charged it should be better! Go to Itsara in nedlands if you are craving a Super Asian experience
Fred
Great restaurant. The plates are fantastic and tasty. I strongly recommended this restaurant. Not expensive for the quality of the food. Moreover the waiters are helpful and friendly. Good experience.

Merveilleux! Went for din.... Merveilleux!<br/><br/>Went for dinner on a Thursday night with my friend and we were not disappointed. We shared some entrees since all of them are suitable to share and the cuisine really reflects on them. We started with the mush scallops, and the asparagus beef, following up with the duck pancakes. Then we had the grilled prawns and the sashimi salad. The sashimi was out of this world, an amazing mix of flavours. An the deserts where just insane, very well made, presented and tasty. So far a 10 out of 10 in service, food and ambient. Great choice to eat
Francescachis36
So good. Fantastic addition to the North Perth scene. Quality menu that never disappoints.
Katie Davison
Was pretty disappointing.. Very overpriced for what you get. Seafood was fresh and tasty but the flavor combinations didnt quite get there.. We shared 4 entrees and had 2 glasses of wine for just under $90.. Much better options in Perth for the same price!

My very favourite...... Chilli Orange is one of a kind....the staff are very accommodating professional and friendly... My husband and I have eaten there many times.....always leave feeling very satisfied ......... The atmosphere of the restaurant has a classy, eclectic feel ... even Romantic..........I love the decor . As for the food, I cannot fault it..... very clean cuisine.., fresh...creative with out being too fussy.....I love it all.... My husband and I have eaten at Chilli Orange with family and friends since its opening, back in April..... All I can say....where else can we dine....??? then I look forward to our next treat at Chilli Orange.... very soon.

Had a great evening....amazing, modern, fresh, creative food...great portions too. wine and service excellent. small, funky setting.....can you tell I liked it?
Kayudoggie
Poor. Looked nice when we arrived, but the tables are so close together the staff have to lean across to hand you plates and cutlery. Wine list was imaginary - the four wines we tried to order were not available. Wait staff didn't seem to know the food - "let me check with the kitchen" (x2). Food was very average. Red curry prawn, no taste to prawns and eggplant on long service leave! Lava cake - more like warm chocolate custard. Pretty presentation but not worth the price.
Michael
Had to fix an order (steak wasn't well done) and they fixed it with no fuss. The food was excellent and the service was perfect. Love the wasabi mayo.
Hrista
Absolutely amazing food and service, can not fault a thing, loved everything!!

Cute little classy restaurant! Good food and amazing desserts! :)
Micho
Lovely flavours and consistent throughout the courses. Scallop and duck dish is one of a kind. Only got a nibble so definitely coming back for more. . All to myself this time.

Good Vibe. These guys know what they are doing. Liked the menu. However, the desserts were THE BEST PART of this restaurant experience. Save room for one.

Very surprised. Very attentive staff with a sense of humour, a touch of class and very professional. 6 Diners ordering an array of dishes across the menu and impressed by the look, smell and taste of each and every dish. <br/><br/>Each plate had the look and feel of a 5 star restaurant but with a decent size serving that didn't see you feeling like you needed a Whopper on the way home.<br/><br/>Well done guys - Keep up the good work.
Tess
Great restaurant, very friendly and attentive staff. We shared a number of entrée dishes and loved almost everything. Not cheap but reasonably priced.<br/>Hit: the crispy pork belly (amazing!), pawn tempura, roast duck pancake and lamb chops<br/>Miss: the seared beef and calamari were good but not a must
Megstar
Enjoyed dinner there on 3 August 2013 - food was interesting, tasty and made with high quality produce. The staff were friendly and service standard was high. It cost us $180 for a family of 4 and so it isn't a cheap restaurant - quality doesn't come cheap though. We had a mix of entrees and enjoyed them all and my main was the red curry prawns - it was superb!! My wife had the scallop and duck salad for main and it was also seriously nice. I recommend this high quality restaurant.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR My .... DO YOURSELF A FAVOUR <br/><br/>My girlfriend and I got a last minute reservation tonight ... it was the best FOOD and SERVICE we ve ever had.<br/><br/>Very reasonable prices for a first class meal. Other Perth restaurants can learn something from here.<br/><br/>We will definitely be back.

Stunning food! We will be back!. Wow! Five outstanding dishes laid before us & they were exceptional in flavour, quality & abundance. The service was detailed & thoughtful. We are looking forward to our next meal here!

Went with two others and non of us can remember the last time we all three so enjoyed our meals. The food was excellent, the service was great and the atmosphere was perfect. I would highly recommend it.
Terrine De Lapin
This restaurant is top notch - a Mod Asian menu which shows the chef knows what he's doing when creating fusion cuisine. The Scallops on Mushrooms & Roast Pork with Apple Garnish are a real delight. Might have the best Tempura Prawns too ... I'm tossing up between here & Kuza.

Love this place !!! Fantast.... Love this place !!!<br/>Fantastic service, wonderful food and great atmosphere. I really enjoyed this place and a delight to order Asian food that's not full of MSG or packed onto a plastic plate. The decor made me feel like I could be back in London or something. I will return for sure - Well done guys
Colin McDonald
Great food and ambience. Service friendly and attentive. Cool decor. Best thing is the food....there were 7 of us at the table and we shared several entrees. All were delicious. And the mains and desserts were enjoyed by all. Thoroughly recommended

A good night out.. Went to Chilli Orange a couple of weeks ago. I could see a lot of pride, effort and care went into every dish we ordered. The quality of produce was high and the end result very good. There was no particular knockout blow or enduring wow factor but it was still a good night. The staff are friendly and very attentive, the restaurant has a nice contemporary vibe.

Lovely Local. Finally came to check out Chilli Orange, as it is just around the corner from home and appeared to be getting fairly good reviews.<br/>Received a friendly return call to confirm my booking and was warmly greeted on arrival. All the staff were relaxed, happy and attentive... the perfect mix. Water (tap/still or sparkling) offered as we were seated and menus / specials provided. We went for the Duck Pancakes and Crispy Pork Belly for entree and the Grilled Swordfish Special and Beef Tenderloin...with a smooth spanish red. Easy conversation and laughs with our waitstaff made us feel like regulars. Food was delish and atmosphere cozy and warm. No pretentious carry on that has become the norm along Beaufort Street, just friendly, passionate people welcoming you to enjoy their good food in their relaxed venue. Good chance I'll be back next week!
Orange
Not so sure. Place was nicely decorated...dim and cozy.<br/><br/>was quite overpriced we find for the portion given and standard.<br/>entrees and mains were okay, not extra ordinary..not worth the money. <br/>mains pretty much came with nothing but just the meat/fish etc. <br/>no sides.<br/><br/>desserts was probably the only thing worth going for. <br/>although at 16$, a lot of other places would probably come on top.
Phillipa Brine
Huge let down!. Overly priced. Average service. Lemonade in my cosmopolitan. And paper napkins for "fine dining".
Caroline Aldous
Firm Favourite. OK, I will admit that we first tried Chilli Orange because I will do anything to avoid Saturday night parking nightmares in Northbridge and Leederville. We spotted this restaurant after experiencing a terrible night at the Rosemount (supposed lounge entertainment), so, decided to try it out a few days later.<br/><br/>Since the first week it opened, Chilli Orange has now become our regular weekly dinner spot after a late work day. The location is a little off the main drag, easy parking, lovely décor and atmosphere, but, most of all, the service is second to none. In this day and age (I know, I'm sounding an old crusty) it is rare that staff bother to remember your name, your drinks and make sure you have your regular table. Chilli Orange staff know the definition of hospitality! It's quite lovely!<br/><br/>After so many weeks we've managed to sample a good deal of the menu, but, perhaps not as much as expected because we keep being drawn back to delicious favourites. The menu is a lovely fusion of fresh ingredients, simply treated with a light Asian slant. I love the duck pancakes or the pork belly for entrée, both are tasty, but, manage to maintain a freshness. The steak with sweet potato or the duck and scallop salad are probably my favourite mains. I have been stuck for a few weeks trying to draw myself away from the soft shell crab and prawn tempura with wasabi mayo - light, but, satisfying. <br/><br/>As far as desserts go, my favourite is the ginger crème brulee with almond cake and honey cream. It's absolutely divine having improved from a slightly too liquid custard the first week. It cracks, it is fluffy and creamy, and the ginger adds just a little kiss of warmth. <br/><br/>Another reviewer mentioned the dishes not coming from the kitchen at the same time for diners at the same table. We did experience this early on - for one night! We asked the next week if they could make sure we dine together and the courses came out together like clockwork. They have obviously listened to their customers and responded rapidly - what more can you ask.<br/><br/>Will be back next week :)
Jayne
Not very impressed im afraid to say. Nice staff but food needs to improve drastically, particularly to justify the prices. Hoping the polite feedback (not criticism) is seriously taken on board. As is, not a place we could recommend.
The Non Existent Diet
Fantastic service & Amazing Desserts. I arrived at Chilli Orange very early – upon their opening time of @5.30pm on a Friday night. I was very keen to try out that place, as I heard whispers that it touted Asian Fusion cuisine - a fact confirmed for me by the waitress upon arrival. The service at Chilli Orange is phenomenal. Our waitress was very friendly, polite and quick to make (good!) recommendations. She also informed me that Chilli Orange was a newbie on the block, being only around for a few weeks. Hence, it has a lot to prove.<br/><br/>I love the interior of Chilli Orange – it is very classy, moody and dimly lit by lamps and candles. At one point our candle goes out and we’re shrouded in darkness, though out waitress is quick to relight it for us. <br/><br/>My three girlfriends and I order a feast – three entrees, three mains and two desserts. For entrees we start off with roasted duck on pancake ($14.90), soft shell crab tempura ($15.90) and crispy pork belly ($16.90). <br/>The roast duck on pancake comes with a sliver of chilli, cucumber, carrot and green shoots with hoisin sauce on the side. It is an almost exact replica of the peaking duck pancake entree you get at Asian stores. The only difference is that the duck skin comes with a substantial amount of meat and isn’t saturated in oil. <br/><br/>The soft shell crab tempura comes in four generous portions and is super-duper hot and crunchy. Yum. I didn’t like the wasabi mayo that came with it (a personal preference), but my friends assured me it was a nice condiment to go with the tempura. <br/><br/>The pork belly was succulent with the trademark crunch of blistered crispy skin – the genius was the addition of green apple and a juicy sauce that lay beneath the pork. The apple was sweet and fresh and went well with the pork belly. <br/><br/>Our mains were the roasted spatchcock ($32.00), grilled swordfish ($36) and the seared local scallops with five spice crispy duck ($38.00). The spatchcock came with a dollop of mustard seeds on it (which I didn’t have), but the spatchcock itself was crisp on the outside with perfectly tendered meat. It lacked a bit of flavour from the expected presence of the five spices, but it came with a pool of soy-sauce infused jus and some well cooked vegetables (two sticks of baby carrot and brocollini). <br/><br/>The grilled swordfish was a very nice dish. The fish itself was a tad on the dry side, missing the translucent flakiness expected but when drenched in the juice of the grapefruit and the sauce it was amazing. The grapefruit added a nice fruitiness to the dish, though it was rather hard to digest because of the rind. The sauce a combination of lemon juice, fish sauce, ginger and sesame oil was very well balanced with subtle flavour - delicious. <br/><br/>The duck was succulent (as per our other dishes) and there were rather generous portions – I counted about seven pieces in our dish along with five scallops. Someone devoured the scallops before I got the chance to try them, but apparently they were good. They were rather buried in the dish by a large amount of leaves from the gourmet salad, but the addition of the eggplant was inventive – it added a creamy nuttiness to the dish. <br/><br/>The desserts were amazing and were a highlight for everyone at the table. The ginger cream brulee with almond cake and honey cream ($16) was good – the crème brulee had the barest hint of ginger and the honey cream had a caramel like consistency and flavour – the almond cake was a tad saturated, losing its natural sweetness in flood of syrup. The green tea crème caramel with black sesame tuille ($16) and vanilla ice cream was my personal favourite. The crème caramel was not overly saccharine, infused with macha green tea flavours reminiscent of Japan - however it was a tad unset, oozing across the plate. The tuille was very pretty, twirling along the length of the plate and suitably crispy. The chocolate lava cake with macadamia ice cream and raspberry coulis came ($16) with a delicious gooey centre, perfect for a cool day. The ice cream was missing the listed macadamias and the spun sugar lattice on top missed the anticipated crunch.<br/><br/>Chilli Orange also sports an extensive wine list and some promising cocktails – the disappointment of the night was not getting our hands on the watermelon madness cocktail, which arrived at our adjacent table. It looked delicious and fruity. <br/><br/>At the end of the dinner, half of us were impressed with Chilli Orange with one side thinking that it was overpriced whilst the other side thought it had some decent food. I was the side of the latter – Chilli Orange has fabulous service, a sophisticated interior, a nice cross between a romantic and casual atmosphere and decent food that fares better than your typical Asian restaurant. The dishes are beautifully presented – a kaleidoscope of different colours. Would be happy to trek here again in the near future! :)

Severely overpriced!. Let me first say I'm a long way from being a cheapskate when it comes to food. I'm more than happy to pay for something a bit special, but a bit special this wasn't.<br/><br/>$38 for a scallop and duck salad which consisted of 6 small scallops (admittedly well cooked), a few pieces of rubbery duck (definitely not crispy), some supermarket variety mesclun mix, red onion, a few cherry tomatoes and a nondescript dressing.<br/><br/>$34 for a red prawn curry? (8 standard size very overcooked prawns, a very standard red curry sauce and some eggplant).<br/><br/>Entrees were of the same ilk. Nothing wrong with the food per se but it's no better than your local takeaway and nowhere near as good as some of the more inventive asian restaurants in the area such as Kitsch or Ria which are considerably cheaper.<br/><br/>Total bill for 2 entrees, 2 mains and a standard sav blanc (which had "Property of Qantas" stickers all over it) $150 which they then added a credit card surcharge on top of. It's fine to charge these prices but you have to have something exciting up your sleeve and deliver on something special.<br/><br/>So disappointing, this area is crying out for some restaurants that are open during the evening (evidence by the fact it was packed) but we couldn't help but feel like we'd been seriously ripped off.

Back for sure. Thursday May 16 Dinner<br/><br/>Love the option of ordering as you go<br/>Love the huge list of small plates available to share<br/>Love the intimate ambience<br/>Love the delicious clean flavours of the food<br/>Love the ample parking around the area<br/><br/>Loathe the toilets being outside<br/>Loathe the lack of wait staff communication - resulting to mixing sparkling warer with tap water several times<br/><br/>Must try the pork belly, duck pancakes, beef salad, red curry mussels and definitely the sashimi salmon salad
Franky
Fantastic experience. Great Thursday dinner. Delicious food, perfect service and great wine. Nice decor, relaxing but modern. Really enjoyed our evening.

Mixed Feelings. Dined here for the first time tonight and overall it was pretty good. I left with a few niggling doubts though.<br/><br/>Pros:<br/>Entree's were great, plenty of choice and packed with flavour, Pork Belly and Duck pancakes were great.<br/>Chocolate Lava cake for dessert was good too.<br/><br/>Cons:<br/>Mains were a bit of a let down and seem something of an after thought. So much effort seems to have gone into the entrees and not the over priced mains (approx $34 for a red curry!).<br/>Service was a little sketchy but I'm sure this will improve.<br/>CREDIT CARD surcharge - why? I just feel a little annoyed when I see I have to pay a surcharge at the end of a meal. It leaves a bad taste in the mouth. After charging $30 plus for a red curry I feel it's a cheek to charge a cc surcharge!<br/><br/>I like this place but as I said a few niggling doubts.
Hayley M
Very overpriced i thought for what we were served - very small portions. Decor is lovely, service was quite slow & they forgot our drinks & had to be reminded. Nice place but we will be unlikely to return :(
Aimee
Loved it. Amazing food, lovely ambience, great service, wicked desserts, what's not to love?

Average food overshadowed by glitzy decor. Decor: Brilliant, draws you in, then again it is North Perth and thats how its done. Appears to have an concise list of wine and spirits.<br/><br/>Service: Polite staff, nothing to fault.<br/><br/>Food: Entree - ordered Duck with pancake: Three flour based rice paper rolls unfolded on a plate with a miniscule piece of duck in each. Sauce was a basic peanut sauce we are all familiar with. $12<br/><br/>Main course: #1. Beef Tenderloin with fried sweet potato, brocolli, fried wantons incased with mushroom. Presentation was flawless, MKR worthy. The taste: Beef was cooked well as asked, aesthetically pleasing as a piece of steak from Rock Pool. Taste wise it needed more flavour perhaps simply better seasoning. Sweet potato was nice, the brocolli was simply steamed and had no flavour, clearly the odd item on the plate. The wontons with mushroom were more on the tasteless side and required you to dip into the soya/teriyaki sauce that was provided. $36<br/><br/>#2. Swordfish with grapefruit, cucumber, mint and onion. Presentation wise not as pleasing as the Beef Tenderloins with the Swordfish being placed on top of slices of grapefruit and the rest of the ingredients swimming in the juice of the grapefruit. The taste: Swordfish was cooked well, no addition to the flavour of the fish however. Portion of the fish was okay. Grapefruit is sour naturally however the mint overpowered the taste of the ingredients. $36<br/><br/>Price: Your paying for realestate (North Perth), decor and meal presentation. Presentation of meals seems to be the theme of most restaurants in Perth following in the foot steps of Melbourne and thats fine, its part of the experience. Add taste into the mix and the price becomes justifiable.

A must Restaurant for food lovers. This is a gem of a restaurant a hidden star which once the word gets out it will be hard to get a table. Food is sensational and the quality is 5 star. I would not hesitate to go back. This is now my regular dining spot. Thanks Chilli Orange for an amazing experience.

Fab food. After driving through Angove Street about 4 weeks ago, our eyes were drawn to a new warmly lit new restaurant - Chilli Orange. Next evening we went with no booking. Very welcoming by both staff and ambience.<br/>Excellent for a romantic dinner and great for friend/family also. Colour scheme and general décor was relaxing. Drink menu was good for choice, quality and price. <br/>Cocktails were amazing - best mojito I have had outside of Australia. Diverse menu, but noted the choice of main courses was limited. We ordered 3 entree's to share. They were ginormous. The main course was also a good size. So ask your waiter so you don't over order. The soft shell crab and scallops were cooked to "purrfection". Memorable experience to be highly recommended. Will become one of our favourites. Thank you Chilli Orange.

Nice addition to Angove Street. After driving past this restaurant a number of times recently decided to book a table. The restaurant was busy the night we went and the ambience was great. Service was friendly.<br/><br/>Pros<br/>Lovely room with nice decor and vibe.<br/>Friendly and attentive service.<br/><br/>Cons<br/>Limited wine list by the glass. 4 choices and they ran out of 2 while we were there.<br/>Meals did not come out together which was disappointing.<br/>Food came out very fast between courses.<br/>Credit card surcharge.<br/>Bottled sweet chilli sauce with squid.<br/><br/>We enjoyed our meal and will probably go back once they iron out the initial teething problems.
Helen
A truly wonderful experience. Superb food, excellent ambiance. Faultless service. An overall lovely restaurant. Will definitely go back again and again! I ordered the pork belly for entree and duck and scallop for main. Wonderful!

Four of us went to Chili Orange last night for dinner. The restaurant had only been open for a few weeks, and the menu looked interesting and inventive. The wine list was also reasonably extensive for a small restaurant, and featured a number of Argentinian wines.<br/><br/>The quality of the food was reasonable. The dishes had a strong Asian influence, which occasionally translated as being a little sweet. However, on the whole, everyone was happy with their meals and decided we would return.<br/><br/>There were only two obvious negatives during the evening. The first was that four of us were seated at a 1 m2 table that was better suited for two people. We spent the majority of the evening hitting each other with our knees. However, the more overwhelming eyebrow raiser for the evening was being told after we ordered our meals that the meals would be served as they were prepared by the kitchen, rather than being brought out at the same time. The first entree arrived at the table 10 minutes before the next person's entree. There was a similar experience with the main course and the dessert. As far as I am concerned, if every other restaurant in Perth can manage to bring out every person's dish at the same time, there is no reason why this place can't either. It is not a tapas bar where everybody shares.
Novak
What a tip top night! Had a delightful Argentinian wine which worked perfect with what i would say to be a well rounded menu! The chef has some tricks!!! Great service too! A must go. Recommend the scallops!

North Perth Excellence. Congratulations Chilli Orange. We really enjoyed the atmosphere in this welcome addition to the Angove St precinct. Excellent wait staff and a delicious modern Asian menu. Particularly enjoyed the three crispy parcels for entrée. Would be an excellent venue for a romantic evening for two.

Great food, great service. Dinner last night at Chilli Orange was wonderful. We had a window table to enjoy enjoying the light breeze and watch the world go by. The first thing that struck me about Chilli Orange is how friendly everyone was. The staff were really welcoming, polite and efficient.<br/><br/>As for the food – magnificent! I had the red curry prawn dish and it was spectacular. My partner had the steak and loved it. The vegetables were arranged beautifully on the plate and that’s something you normally don’t see. Often they come out as a side.<br/><br/>.....and the best thing of all was the prices were very reasonable.<br/><br/>Well done Chilli Orange, we’ll be back soon

I've been there twice already and the quality food the food is amazing.<br/>The steak with the sweet potato is perfect, the curry mussels are amazing the taste of the sauce is to die for.<br/>Unfortunately I haven't tried the deserts but yet to try more of their food. <br/>I hope to try their deserts next time specially their lava cake.<br/>The pork belly is probably the best thing I've ever tasted. The quantity of the sauce in the pork belly is perfect.

Unfortunately pretty disappointing. Menu excited us so much, but the food was a little bland. Beef fillet lacked any seasoning and the soft shell crab was a bit the same. So much promise that we will go back to give it another go, albeit with lower expectations.

Fusion cuisine. Curry duck? Pan fried salmon seemed more conventional. Restauran can be busy and full so it may not be the place for a romantic dinner.

...for Valentine's Day, the boy and I went to Chilli Orange for their 8 course Degustation. With plenty of seafood on this menu, I didn't mind the price tag of $85 per person. complimentary sparkling or wine was offered when we were settled and their ambience was very comfortable and suitable for a Valentine's Day dinner. We were worried that there would not be enough food, but after the 6 dish, we were starting to feel full, which surprised us both. Dessert was AMAZING. The boy doesn't eat desserts, but he actually enjoyed the chocolate lava cake, and I really liked the Green Tea creme brûlée.  All in all, service was impeccable, food was absolutely amazing, I would love to return for another taste of their regular menu if it was as delicious as their specials.  Chilli Orange 21 Angove St North Perth WA 6006 N

I thoroughly enjoyed the salmon, which was perfectly cooked and the avocado, and corn salad was sensational. I loved how the corn had been char grilled. The breaded prawns were ok, somehow they just did not seem like a good balance to this dish, it may have been because they were crumbed, they would have been nicer just pan-fried.
Queen Of Bad Timing
Situated in the quiet of North Perth, outside of the hectic Northbridge world and next door to Rosemount Hotel, sits a relatively new restaurant which is a cross between modern Australian and Asian cuisines. The inside is gorgeous. Funky chairs wooden chairs with dark curtains. Candlelight and wooden beams across the ceiling and down one wall. It is simple but elegantly beautiful; warm and welcoming.

I’m not entirely sure how I happened upon Chilli Orange. I think I was poking around urbanspoon one day and saw a review for it and noticed that it had some really positive feedback so I booked it in for a Thursday date night for the lovely GG and myself. It really isn’t too far from home and I must have driven past it plenty of times in its last 6 months of operation but just hadn’t noticed it before. We arrived a touch after 6.30pm for our reservation and were given our choice of a few tables. I liked the fit out. Plenty of exposed old wooden beams, a funky collection of standard tables and chairs along with a few feature leather numbers and some interesting lamps, which provided some warm albeit dim lighting. We ordered glasses of wine each and turned our attention to the menu. I suppose you’d describe the food as Asian fusion. It’s split into shared dishes on the first page and then larger mains and desserts on the second. There were just so many things on that first page that we w

The name Chilli Orange was enough to get me curious but after hearing all the raving reviews from my fellow foodie friends I knew I had to try it out so I headed there on Friday night with my friend Nat. I wasn’t sure how busy Chilli Orange gets on a Friday night so I decided to play it safe and booked a table for two as soon as they opened at 5pm. It was a fairly small space but I think for those of you who have dinner early I think you’d be pretty safe in just rocking up – our booking was for 5:30pm and we left by 7:30pm. The menu was great with plenty of entrée and main options. We could have easily picked a bunch of entrees to share but Nat and I have fairly different tastes so we decided to share an entrée, have a main each and share dessert. We shared the Linley Valley free range crispy pork belly entrée garnished with green apple ($16.90)… The crackling was crunchy and the roast pork was tasty – it was even better eaten together with the tangy green apple. I had the grilled teri

Angove Street, North Perth. A long and narrow room, wooden panels and three unmatching lamps on one side, windows and black velvet curtains on the other. The roof is curved and angular, like an inverted park bench with an exposed circular HVAC duct bisecting the roof and the space. Sitting 30-40 it feels like a modern day log cabin. The menu is compact and designed for sharing. A single A5 page of entrees (x14) and another for mains (x6), sides and desserts (x4). The pictured  crispy pork belly with apples is generous for a starter - five or six large pieces of very moist pork with wonderfully crisp and brittle skin ($16.90). Even more generous is the soft shell crab - four tempura crabs with a wasabi mayo for only $15.90. The seared rare beef tenderloin salad with a chilli orange and blackbean dressing is less convincing and overstated. The mains are substantive. $32-$38. I tried the duck and scallop salad which was bold though over dressed. In retrospect I wish I had ordered the more

Chilli Orange serves a modern Asian-inspired cuisine in an intimate restaurant located on Angove Street in North Perth. With timber floors, wooden walls and dark thick drapes as a surrounding, I felt like I was dining in a cabin!
