Review No Mafia - Perth

Khristina Vasko
We had a long lunch, sat outside looking into the street, shared a bottle of wine and ordered the Roman arancini for starter then the basil pesto pasta and the sausage and celery pasta. Arancini was outstanding, possibly the best I've had, cheesy gooey crispy. Perfect. Pasta was el dente so that was great. Pesto needed a bit of salt but otherwise both were yum. Would try another off the menu next time. Only reason for 4 stars is we think they forgot our food order since we waited 40min - no apology until we paid - seemed to be a one off since other tables were prompt. Would still go back again!!

Packed on a Tuesday night - good sign of great food and warm ambience. The crew are warm, friendly, cheerful and efficient. Service was quick. Food delicious - pasta, prawn and butter w a rocket salad plus a giant piece of yummy tiramisu with the best filtered coffee - absolutely made my evening.

I would give 6 stars if I could. The gnocchi was perfect. They tasted like little pillows of potato that melted in my mouth. The cannolo was very tasty (I took the picture in the middle of eating it because I forgot) as well and I really like that they have the kitchen open later on the weekend. The wait staff were so helpful and kind, they understood that I couldn't chew and relayed that to the kitchen so the meal was cooked perfectly for me. They were also really thoughtful about what I might be able to eat.

Really nice staff, food was pretty good, the menu is quite small, I shared two dishes with my sister and one was beautiful but the other came out cold and very average in taste. I do like that they accommodate dietary requirements. Had a lovely cocktail too. Overall good experience.

Great cocktails and delicious Italian food. Great service too. Fun location and atmosphere in Northbridge!

We called for an early dinner before the Rooftop Cinema nearby. Without a reservation we managed to get a seat right out front, facing the street. The menu is limited in choice but the dishes we had were outstanding. Duck ragu. Oh my word. If I had one dish left in life it would be this. Heaven on a plate. The spaghetti with calamari was excellent and the wines by the glass hit just the right spot. We can't wait to return.

I had higher expectations of this place, it was probably a hit and miss day being Tuesday. Overloaded in kale, but Dry, really thick pasta and sauce was pretty sour. I'd give it a 2nd try one day

I went on a Friday night and booked an early table beforehand and had high expectations as a friend recommended the restaurant. The service staff were very nice and attentive. Unfortunately, my truffle pasta dish was served cold, and my other friends were not so impressed with their different pasta dishes. My arancini and tiramisu were ok. The atmosphere of the restaurant was good but I doubt that I would go again as we all left disappointed with the main pasta dishes.

Nothing to complain about at all. Super friendly and very excitable waitstaff. Love the setup and decor of the newly renovated place opposite hummus club – especially enjoyed sitting outside with full view of the myriad happenings of a re-energised william street.<br/><br/>Ordered a very drinkable pinot to go with entree of beetroot and silky bufala – perfect match. Duck pappardelle was a winner (lots of sage and truffle) and the agnolotti with bolognese sauce was rich and packed with umaminess. <br/><br/>Will be back for sure.<br/><br/><br/>

So Good! small venue but food is very good, and I would visit this place again.<br/>dishes are well seasoned and fresh. its a different spin on Italian food and I appreciate this.

What a hidden gem! Everything, and I mean everything - from the food, to the wine and the excellent customer service; No Mafia has set some high standards for the fellow Perth food/bar community. Highly recommend anyone who fancies some good Italian food in a cozy little gem in the city.

After a "so funny we cried" performance of Senior Moments at the State Theatre we walked up the road for a quick meal at NoMafia. I'd been there for lunch previously and loved it's tapas style Italian. What a very cool viby place with excellent Italian wine and Southern Italian delights. We started with Marinated Octopus & Pumpkin Arancini followed by Gnocchi tomato sugo, cavolo nero, mozzarella (+nduja – spicy Italian spreadable pork salami ). We just had to order some italian crusty bread to "mop"up the amazing sauce left after the devouring of the Gnocchi. Washed down with a campari & soda & a birra moretti.  This little "blink and miss" restaurant/bar is an absolute gem for Perth. Service was excellent and fun. The open kitchen allows for a home cooking vibe and great conversation with the chef. Definitely be back so as to introduce more friends to this little piece of Italy in Northbridge.

Sorry for the horrible photos but we were hungry. <br/>First time here and the wines were nice and affordable. The food was amazing! The cheese and the crispy potatoes especially, although they seemed a bit pricey...

It was my first time going to No Mafia, would be back for sure.<br/>The only issue was that the waitress said she couldnt make an iced mocha which I found very odd, considering having affogato on their menu and they also had chocolate syrup so they could basically mix those together very easily.<br/>Other than that, everything was good. Love the lam shoulder , very tasty.<br/>The bread load was a bit dry, needed butter which they didnt offer.

Came here as part of the Tre Amici deal, which was such a fantastic experience. We had an entree and everything on the plate was delicious, and we had the choice of house red, white, beer or a non alcoholic beverage. The white was really nice. Service was friendly.

I am not usually a fan of gnocchi but the gnocchi here has changed my mind. Beautiful and fluffy. In fact, every dish is flavorful. Good ambience with personal service.

For what it is, this place is a great street-food-style bar. Small snack-sized food like kebabs are cooked on the hotplate in front of you, and you have the choice of full-priced standard drinks or discounted 'house specials'. <br/><br/>A good after-work hangout for conversations with friends or the guy behind the bar. It has a nice casual vibe and is well-located in the middle of Northbridge.

Always busy and I finally understand why. Incredible flavours. How can you improve on bread and olives? I didn’t think you could until now. And the potatoes: taste.like.home. I also had a lovely red wine, a vino d’avola, highly recommend.
Christie
Great tapas restaurant. Staff are so friendly and welcoming. As well as for the food which is not heavy and nice to share around the table. Food is delicious and presented in a suitable manner. Would definitely recommend for friends that want to share a few plates together.

I’ve been here before and liked it. This time round I was put off by mains prices for tapas sizes. The food was incredible to taste and I’m really not here to fault that and neither was the service - right down to the waitress fixing the wobbly table. Portion sizes matter... if they are small then adjust the prices accordingly! One shouldn’t have to purchase two meals at mains prices to be satisfied...
Little Aussie Epicurean
Came along for the tres amici special where for $35 you have 3 courses at 3 Italian venues. Course 1 being starters and wine. The pairing was delicious, seating is a little tight and be prepared that you may be sat very close to other groups. Wait staff were friendly and attentive.

Popped in here after a couple of drinks at the Mechanics. Really relaxed atmosphere, good menu with tasty dishes. We got the chefs special which meant we good a good spread of dishes to share. Staff know the product and wines; really look after you. But expensive for quantity but good quality. Loved the lamb.

I love that this venue showcases a lot of local (WA) spirits, beers, and wines!<br/>The staff are very Italian (read: efficient yet abrupt), the food is authentically Italian. Great cocktails, aperitifs, and spritzers, lovely wine selection (we ended up just ordering the house red which was a gorgeous Margs Shiraz @$42).<br/>My biggest complaint is that it is a touch pricey if you dine as a twosome. We did the chef's selection, and it really should have come with a dessert course, as there was just not quite enough food for $98.<br/>Add two aperitifs to the wine and food, and it comes in at $166 which makes for an expensive meal out if you have to move elsewhere for dessert because you're still hungry. <br/>The food is great though, I just won't take my boyfriend next time!
Perth Foodaholic
No Mafia serves tapas style food and I was super duper hungry and excited to try my first ever Tre Amici experience. We were provided with antipasti and a drink (beer, wine or non alcoholic). The silicon green olives were really plump and delicious (probably the nicest olives I’ve had haha), the bruschetta was very tasty (I love eggplant!) and the house made fritto was very moreish. I could have easily devoured more of each of those three components and wouldn’t mind coming back to try this place again. What a great start to the night.
BKAKA
Food was below average, which is a shame given that the staff were all awesome and the setting and aesthetic of the restaurant are awesome. Had the gnochhi and it was overcooked and mushy, pesto on one of our dishes had a LOT of raw garlic which made it very sharp and difficult to eat. Parmesan custard and cauliflower dish was very salty and not super pleasant.
Carolyn Vlahov
The most delicious tapas I've had in Perth! Awesome, attentive staff & nice range of Italian wines all in a cosy little cafe style eatery!👍gotta be happy with that!
Spooning
Always friendly service. Small but delicious and interesting wine list. Great atmosphere (can get a touch noisy because the place is small and designed along a corridor but I think this adds to the overall atmosphere). Food is rustic, simple and tasty.

Had a lovely lunch here. Delicious food & lovely service. I have several food restrictions and the staff were very accommodating and explained the menu and what changes could be made. I had the pan fried squid & the potato sides. My mum had the gnocchi. We both really enjoyed our meals, flavours were great! I will be back !!
Nicole Tissott
Glad to have ticked this off my list. Not sure if I'll be back purely due to the portion sizes and price of the tapas style menu. It was $90 for 2 people with just 1 alcoholic drink consumed and no dessert. Being charged for bread wasnt ideal but I was willing to accept (I beleive it was from Bread in Common), but then being charged further for an extra suggested serve to soak up leftover sauce was not necessary. My Basil & Aperol Spritz for $13 was strong and tasty but I expected the usual long glass, better presentation and a few more basil leaves. Sounds like a cocktail to me. The 200ml chinotto served in the bottle for $5 was definately a bit rich! I did really like the food though. It was fresh and tasty .We started with White Anchovies ($6.50) and bread ($3 per person). I took full advantage of the complimentery parmesan infused EVOO on the table. Bread was nice but not incredibly fresh tasting. The squid ($24) was cooked perfectly served with spicy crispy pancetta, chickpeas and rocket. My most anticipated plate - the Beef Cheek ($33) melted in my mouth but was lacking something flavour wise. Our waitress was lovely. It was a super quiet night. Cool fit out and enjoyed the background music. My partner left still hungry.

My new go to place when in Perth , friendly attentive service amazing dish's we shared the mushrooms , the sardines , the white anchovies all amazing we also had lamb dish which was a little tuff but I was still in a high from the previous dishes so wasn't bothered

Early Saturday lunch here before a French festival film at the Paradiso. This place is deceptively small from the front, but it keeps going in like a cavern. I sat close to the kitchen. Staff were friendly and greeted me, explained their menu, which is shared Italian, and water. I could not go passed the beef cheeks with polenta, and my waitress suggested some bread to mop up the plate at the end. I went with a Shiraz. Wine serves were on the small side, but the wine was very good. Bread came out and waiter pointed out the parmesan infused oil and rock salt, and offered balsamic. I went with the oil and salt, and wow, that oil was wonderful. What a great idea to have parmesan oil; I asked if the waitress if they sold it, but alas they don’t as yet, maybe down the track. Bread was fresh and nice and crusty. My main came out before I devoured the bread. Nice serving and smelled superb. First bite of the beef and it was one of those special moments where your taste buds do summersaults; absolute magic. So sweet, buttery soft and delicate flavoured. The polenta was excellent too with subtle cheese flavour and beautiful creamy texture. Loved the dish. Friendly service, with knowledgeable staff, and excellent food and wine. Will definitely put this on my return list.

Great food, the beef was so tender, the gnocchi was full of flavour and the antipasto was superb. The best Italian ive had in a long time. Parmeson infused oil omg where do i get some.

We came here for a work lunch during the week. It's a mostly tapas menu with a fairly limited selection of food. We didn't realise before booking and each wanted an individual dish so it was a bit messy to order. Some had two tapas meals each while others tried for one larger meal. We ordered the gnocchi, the salmon, corn and spinach fritters, rocket and Parmesan salad and sardines. Everyone thought the flavours were great, but way too much oil on the salad. The portion sizes were definitely on the small side for the price (for $30 I would expect enough to feel full). On the up-side the service was great and I had the best gin and tonic ever!
Rob Brajkovich
Came here with 5 people and did the Chefs selection, bread and olive oil was great, nice olives, tomato salad was delicious, the gnocchi was very good as were the ribs, meat fell off the bone. The Italian soft drinks a little rich at $6.00 a pop for 185mls...but great good, well timed and with entertainment book $40 a head for about 7 courses.
Louise Michelle
Summary: Great service, average bland food and overpriced.<br/><br/>We were really excited that there are lots of gluten free options as we were dining with a friend who has coeliacs, however every dish except the 3 times cooked potatoes was lacking in flavour/salt. (Particularly the beef cheeks and gnocchi)<br/><br/>2 of us also tried the mafia Americano cocktail and it tasted awful despite the menu specifically saying it was 'extra tasty.'<br/><br/>Would not dine here again.

Seriously with a combo like that – food, wine and sequins – what’s not to like! Recently I attended a 5 course wine lunch to get to know Great Southern winery – Brave New Wine (BNW) and Perth small bar – No Mafia just a little bit better. Andries (one part of the husband and wife team behind the BNW label) summed up the day exactly:

3.6rating<br/>Service was excellent <br/>We had:<br/>1) buffalo mozerella (need more salt/dressing) <br/>2) triple cheese with honey and lovely bread from Bread in Common (quite a lovely selection and combo of cheeses) <br/>3) mushroom with truffle oil (need more salt)<br/>4) beef cheeks (need more salt) <br/>5) gnocchi (nice!) <br/>6) bottle of prosecco <br/><br/>Overall - good food but not much of standout (slightly underseasoned) though i really liked the gnocchi dish. <br/>About $180-$190 in total for three people I felt it wasn't very cheap (but we did have a bottle of prosecco)<br/>Will return again on a cool summer night (sitting inside was a little noisy so sitting outside is perfect)
@Foodieguide_lily
The food here is great and staff are friendly but I find it a bit expensive for what you get. The service is a bit inconsistent and depending who serves you sometimes it feels like you are a bother to staff as they are a bit pushy with the ordering and up selling - the mains are quite tasty but the snacks are a bit overpriced. They even charge a surcharge for EFTPOS payments. But the food is enjoyable and they do a deal with Francoforte and Chicho for a 3 course meal for cheap. The quality of the ingredients is really good and the gnocchi is particularly good here, and they have some nice gins too.

Great service, tasty and beautifully prepared food. The Buffalo Mozzarella salad was a standout. The place itself is quite small, and likewise the menu is also quite small. Recommended.

Cold some heating required, stingy wine measures, food ok but nothing special. I won't be going back anytime soon. It seems quite a few restaurants have gone with the 1 inch of wine in the bottom of the glass

Ate here Saturday night and found the food and service excellent! The staff were great and provided swift service without making us feel rushed. The squid and tomato dishes were outstanding, gnocchi was a little bland for my taste.<br/>Will definitely return.

No Mafia is a favourite small bar of ours.  We work for ourselves – and live on the train line – which means we can catch public transport when it suits us. We can commute to Perth, Subiaco, Fremantle – etc – Northbridge is just over the Wellington Street over pass.

OMG I have no words ! Outstanding service <br/>Delicious food - I had the gnocchi which was to die for ! We shared a few different desserts - all delicious ! I can't wait to return ❤️

Loved this tiny tapas restaurant! We had such a great lunch at No Mafia. Brie, Honey & Bread was nice. Zucchini Fritters even though looked a bit unappealing, was super tasty! Seasonal Mushrooms were cooked and seasoned well. Braised Beef Cheek was excellent, meat was soft and delicious. Service was...

Holy moly!! I'd had a bite to eat here years ago shortly after it opened and it must not have been very memorable as I've no idea what I had (or I'm getting old). Hadn't really been fussed about coming back, possibly related to the first visit being on a bust Friday night and it was very cramped and uncomfortable. <br/>So glad I came back. WOW. Service was lovely. Even accommodated my query as to whether they could bring the dishes out one by one, instead of all almost at the same time. We shared the cheese and honey (I've only had this once before, at Hermosa, and almost died in ecstasy), zucchini fritters, seasonal mushrooms and beef cheek. Each and every dish was flavoursome and delicious. The zucchini fritters were so fresh, the beef cheek melted in your mouth, the mushroom dish had many mushrooms! The Bread in Common bread that came with the cheese and honey was fresh and warm and soft and oh so tasty, the only improvement would have been for the brie to be softer. And more of it! <br/>I would definitely come back to try a new menu, or even sooner to try other dishes and desserts. <br/>No Mafia is in the Entertainment Book.

No Mafia is only a short walk further down William Street towards the Perth CBD. Having heard great reports about this place I had no hesitation in being guided by Haaron’s suggestion. When we got there it dawned on me that a lot of tables must have finished a good time before we had ordered our last drinks at Shadow.<br/><br/>Continuing on a wine sandwiched with beer theme we began with a terrific bottle of Montepulciano (which incidentally ruined the poor waitperson’s corkscrew), before finishing with a delicious cleansing Bassendean Stout by Nail Brewery. We needed a wine with some versatility and this worked well with a number of the chef’s selected dishes.<br/><br/>The service here is certainly suited to informal dining. We had a waitperson with the right amount of attentiveness and humour, without going too far. She even allowed us to have the $35 chef’s selection even though it is supposed to be for four or more.
Elsie C
This was a cute little place my friend chose for an evening dinner catch up. Four of us ordered the chefs selection on recommendation from the waiter. And the food came. It was great. And then more came. And more! More than we could all eat. For 35 A head it was well worth it. The zucchini fritters and Mac n cheese were the winners. The only little hiccup was having a booth set up when an extra friend arrived and had no where to squeeze in. That a was a scheduling failure on our part, no fault of the restaurant. Wait staff did their best to accommodate with a chair on the end. It was tricky being a busy and cramped Friday night. Thumbs up overall, lovely food and happy upbeat vibe.
Edward
Long and narrow, it's like an echo chamber, only with simple but very beautiful food and a short, quirky and admirable wine list. A single page menu, a score or less, share plates with a Southern Italian accent, though I do wonder where the triple cooked potatoes fit in. . .<br/><br/>I tried half a dozen plates, each wonderful in their own way. The pictured squid and the spiced sausage both having easy charm and vibrant flavours. The soft brownie comes drowning in chocolate sauce, it's winner. <br/><br/>The wine list is shorter still - though with plenty of new wave vinous interest. Gentle Folks, Unico Zelo - both fashionable sought after small producers from the Adelaide Hills are present. Excellent

Went here late Friday night. It's so nice having somewhere to go that's open late and isn't some takeaway joint! Anyway, really cool and trendy interior, very helpful staff, excellent food. We had Gorgonzola and honey to start (who'd have thought that combo would be so delicious?!) then we had the thrice cooked potatoes, lamb and beef. We left SO full and didn't have to fork out a fortune either. Would definitely recommend this place :)
Renato
Had an awesome night as a group of 5 in a booth. Great wine and beautifully cooked, simple food. The roasted peach and prosciutto salad was heavenly and all the dishes were served in portions of 5 - excellent. Affogato delight!<br/>

Visiting No Mafia with moderate expectations, I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered the zucchini fritters, prosciutto salad, sundried tomato gnocchi (special menu) and the panna cotta for dessert. The zucchini fritters were full in flavour, and were coupled well with the blue cheese aioli. The standout dish was the prosciutto salad, which had an amazing array of flavours - you can't go past this dish, one of the most unique and well balanced salads I've experienced. The gnocchi tasted authentic and was delightfully fluffy, but not too much so. Finally, the panna cotta was fairly standard; we ordered it in lieu of availability of the mousse, which would probably be a better option.
SteveCobalt
We stopped in on Friday night looking for a booth for six people, we were in luck and seated inmediately.<br/><br/>I've been here a few times and each time I've been, it's gotten better. Great service, food and atmosphere at a reasonable price, this place knows what's what.<br/><br/>Star dishes were the heirloom tomato and monzarella salad, roast tomato gnocci special and the chilli muscles. Our waiter recommended excellent wines and all six of us just had a bloody good time. <br/><br/>Two of our guests were out if towners and thety loved the experience. Places like this are leading the charge in the renewal of Northbridge.
For The Love Of Food
$5 Happy Hour drinks are fantastic! I am not sure if this is on Fridays only, but that along with the tasting plate for only $15 (which may have been a Happy Hour special as I couldn't see it on the menu) was a great choice for after-work drinks. It also made up for the fact that my companions thought our waiter was a bit grumpy. What we thought was $5 cocktails off their menu was actually only a choice of one white wine, red wine, beer or Aperol and soda, but still not complaining! They did have the wrong wine price on our bill, but was rectified without issue.<br/><br/>It is a very nice ambience with dimmed lighting after dark, a vintage movie projected silently on the back wall and mostly nice staff. Will return for more Happy Hour drinks and to try some more food next time!
The Round Eye
My wifes new favourite but i haven't had many dishes. The prosciutto with grilled peach is terrific and the zucchini fritters were tasty. Probably getting 4.5 when i try more of the menu.
Mathew Quinn
Great place, we rolled in after a disappointing experience at a different restaurant, to great service, drinks and food.<br/><br/>The triple-cooked potatoes are a must-try .. the dipping sauce is amazing and the potatoes are so crispy, yet soft on the inside. I think it takes a skilled chef to produce a simple dish to perfection.
TeaganClaire
The first time after it had just opened we went I didn't quite get it and to be honest left a little hungry for the size of the bill. Having said that we gave them another go before a Fringe show about a month ago - so good! Great Italian eats, fantastic wine list, excellent service.
Troy Mortleman
What a top place this is!! We were warmly greeted and entertained by a delightful lady we presumed was the owner. She sat us on the bar and explained to us the dishes coming over the pass - we only came for a drink and a dessert and ended up having much more! The proccuito and peach salad was excellent - great combo. The pannacotta desert was also excellent and went beautifully with the Italian Old Fashioned cocktail. Will definitely return here!!
Dan The Man
Love, love, love this long narrow cafe set at the end of the busy Northbridge cafe district. Traditional Italian meets clever, modern cuisine and boy have they got it right. The staff were knowledgeable and friendly and walked us through the menu with a smile. The food was amazing and the bar a nice touch. Well done No Mafia!!!
Steve B
Just brilliant. I love this place. It doesn't try to be something it's not and the staff are so engaging and friendly. You get what you expect, which is a fun dining experience in a noisy upbeat setting and the staff, though run off their feet, really care about your enjoyment of the place. Thank you and we'll done!

Thursday 28th January Lunch<br/><br/>Fancied a bite to eat but not a full lunch. The menu here is small but the food all tastes fantastic. I hadn't been for a while as it was closed over the holiday period but I chose the sardines and some cheese. The waitress was helpful and friendly and I love the iceblocks in the gin and tonics!!
Brett Young
Delicious food, great wine list and quirky, confident service. This place has a great atmosphere and a great idea. Make sure you get the spreadable spicy salami on something, and a cannoli! Only down side is the price of some of the charcuterie, but it did have an interesting flavour, so I guess you get what you pay for.
Donovan De Souza
There is so much to like about No Mafia - it's a place that is at once very fun and disarmingly casual, and yet there is a seriousness and attention to detail on display that shows they are serious contenders in the increasingly busy New Northbridge scene. We enjoyed all the dishes we ordered, and the small but well considered wine list shows even casual restaurants can make an interesting and highly suitable list if they put in the effort. For me, its probably a bit of a step below our Italian favourites like La Sosta and La Scarpetta, but they do what they do with great aplomb. With excellent service and a cool open kitchen that makes you feel like your over for dinner at a very cheffy friend's home, No Mafia is definitely worth checking out.
Chantelle Hiley
We had an enjoyable night here with friends seated in the booth. Our waiter was Italian himself and very friendly. Because we were buying a bottle of wine, he let us taste too. Yummy food good service.
J Smith
Hmm..if you're just nibbly and want a nice glass of wine then try this place. We were a group of 6 wanting to try a new place. Most of the items prosciutto, bread, cheese, croquettes, meatballs were good. Nothing that stood out that I'd come back for. We ordered quite a bit but at the end of the day the boys were still hungry, my partner got take out after the dinner. Service was knowledgable and attentive though.
Vink
The flavours are divine. The sizes are a bit small, so need to order a few different things to try. The price isn't exactly cheap, but we got the happy hour drinks for $5 each. The service was very friendly, knowledgable and efficient. Restaurant design and decor was nice too :)
World Diner
We have tried this place before and thought we would give it another go on the way to Next to Normal at Heath Ledger. Fortunately (being only 6.30) we could take the last seats, and were served very promptly by a pleasant waiter. She said she would make sure we were not delayed. We ordered the thrice cooked potatoes, delicious, and the Sicilian Steak Sandwich, also delicious (see photo).<br/>The staff was very friendly, and we overheard them offering suggestions to patrons who were asking about other venues to continue their Friday night.<br/>Food was nicely served, in good time and we did not feel rushed.<br/>Staff 5/5   Food 4.5

No Mafia has been on my go-to list for awhile now and we finally decided to check it out one weekday night. Heard a few good things about it so we were pretty excited to try it out. <br/><br/>What we ordered - <br/>Triple cooked potatoes - Crispy + the seasoning was great but it all came off the potatoes and was at the bottom of the bowl...<br/><br/>Charred Eggplant - Eggplant was pretty undercooked, could've been nice dish as the flavours worked well.<br/><br/>Squid - probably one of the better dishes we had..<br/><br/>Sicilian Steak - Steak was charred way too much, too cooked through and there were chunks of salt on most of the pieces...told one of the waitresses but she just dissapeared after that..it was literally a struggle to eat<br/><br/>Pannacotta - it was extremely watery and wasn't set at all...<br/><br/>Service started off decent but towards the end of the night when I curiously asked if the pannacotta was meant to be this watery, one of the guys responded pretty rudely with "I don't know, I dont work in the kitchen I just serve, if you want to know just go ask that guy over there" pointing to the chef and walked away...not sure what went on there as it wasn't a busy night at all..<br/><br/>safe to say that I won't be back anytime soon.........food didn't really make the cut but at least have some decent customer service guys..

Another fantastic edition to the wave of small bars popping up all over Perth. Food was simple, quality Italian. All the dishes let the fresh ingredients shine through, keeping a minimalist approach to sauces and toppings. A standout example of this was the mixed spinach and home made ricotta - very creamy, sweet ricotta showcased by a simple salad.<br/><br/>Wine selection was quite good (a small mixture of Italian and Australian wines), but the service was even better. The waiter thoroughly knew his selection, was able to identify rough wine and food pairings, and was also able to guide both myself and my friend to a wine we would enjoy. We were well attended to, and were not left wanting.<br/><br/>Prices were ok for tapas, though a little on the pricey side. All serving sizes for the dishes we selected were the expected small share plate quantity. <br/><br/>I'm really looking forward to coming back!

No mafia, sure, and no customers either in this pretentious, hipster joint. This could be due to the fact that nobody will get fed here unless they have a substantial amount of money in their wallet. My pork with pistachio sauce pictured tasted okay, but 8 bite sized strips are far from being worth $23. Make it a meal with salad and potato instead so people won't feel ripped off. Salad is cheap. So are potatoes. I did end up getting potato on the side, which cost $7.50. It also took an extremely long time to arrive despite being the only person in the place- about 30 mins.<br/><br/>The good points? The guy running the place was nice and friendly. And I think he turned the music down a notch before the stereo system cracked.

A great experience from start to Finish! Lovely wines and tasty food, must try the meatballs!! <br/>Viva Italia!! Will be back as soon as we get another night off!

went with a big group (for this small place) but got to try just about everythign on the menu.<br/>for the price, a bit dissapointed...especially in terms of  portions.<br/>flavours were ok, some a bit too weird for my palatte.<br/>didnt hate it thou and had a good time. some interesting drinks there<br/><br/>great staff service and friendlyness.
Carolyn Field
Certainly some of the friendliest staff in a wine bar we have come across in a long time.  No attitude!!!  Food was so good - share plates - ideal before the theatre.  Tonight the stand outs were the specials of mushrooms with olives and the chef's special pumpkin dish (like mother used to make) with the crunchy almond topping.  Sauce on the prawns was to die for and we loved the white bait.  Great wine list too.  Definitely be a favourite before the show in future.

What a great discovery.<br/>Excellent service.  Food was fantastic. <br/>Love the selection of deli meats. <br/>The Pork loin was exceptional.<br/>We felt some items were overpriced for the size of the serve however were still happy with the overall bill as we had great service and an enjoyable night.<br/> Great venue and I would highly recommend.

Such an awesome little wine bar with food that brings me back to my gorgeous trip through Sicily visiting Family. Gorgeous flavours and executed in such a trendy way.. A real modern twist on Southern Italian food!

Nice little place tucked away. Food was delicious, squid with stuffed risotto was a bit average, but the rest was amazing. Great friendly service, great drink selection

Unfortunately the price of this experience ($100 for two people and two drinks) completely outweighed the tastiness. Yeah the produce was fresh and the flavours pretty good, but I couldn't get past $7 for a few slices of prosciutto. And having to pay for bread on an Italian inspired menu is sacrilege! If I paid $50 for what was - one piece of mozzarella, bread, prosciutto, 4 x baby squid tubes, a leg of chicken and 3 x kale leaves - then I'd probably go back.

We dined as a group of four last night, Saturday the 18th. Unfortunately, it was one of the worst dining experiences we've had in Perth. I've not ever felt compelled to write a review (be it positive or negative) this however this experience definitely warranted a warning!<br/><br/>We eat out once/twice a week at least, at a variety of restaurants. No Mafia is on the more expensive end (bar obviously fine-dining restaurants) and whilst we're happy to spend a bit for a good meal, at $90/head, we don't feel that this restaurant provided any type of value for money. The food was fine, but certainly nothing special and definitely not justifying the price of each dish - eg $8 for a few slices of meat on some paper, $16 for some cold tomatoes and mozzarella. <br/><br/>The service was also a let down - after finishing our salumi selection, it took us 15 minutes to flag down a waiter to order more food and drinks, and similarly throughout the night, one waiter in particular seemed to look straight past our table. <br/><br/>The toilets were SHOCKING. Certainly not what we expected in a restaurant. I wouldn't even say they were first-world standard and perhaps don't even meet the City of Perth standards. All sorts of human excrement was found in both the ladies and men's toilets and had one of the ladies in our group needed to go to the bathroom alone, they would certainly be taking a massive risk to their safety trying to get past all the druggies out the front of the door. <br/><br/>We tried to express our concerns for the toilets to the waiter who brushed it off and said that it wasn't the restaurant's fault, but their landlords. <br/><br/>And after all this, and having spent what we did, we left hungry and contemplating going elsewhere for some more substantial food! <br/><br/>Having recently eaten at Enriques and Low Key Chow House, we spent similar money, yet had copious amounts of food, plenty of cocktails and unrivalled service. We certainly will never be back to this restaurant.
Eight Seconds Of Food
Great little Italian eatery on the William Street strip focusing on cuisine from Southern Italy. Food is authentic and service is top notch here.<br/><br/>We ordered a bunch of their shared plate dishes - My favourites of the night were the eggplant parmigiana and the procuitto di parma.<br/><br/>Note, the restaurant is quite narrow so it can be tricky fitting large groups inside - We were a group of 5 and managed to just fit snugly into a booth at the back of the restaurant.

Service was excellent, drinks were reasonably priced - a good selection as well, food was good but rather on the expensive side. <br/><br/>Toilets are outside too, and become slightly questionable after dark on the weekends.

I called into No Mafia with a girlfriend after work one Friday night. I'd love to go back with a bigger group to try more! We had 4 share dishes & then the cannoli, oh the cannoli - next time I won't share the cannoli!

If you're looking for the best service in a Perth restaurant then No Mafia takes the cake. I have been here 6 times in the last 2 months and every time the wait staff are on point. It reminds me of Florence when I would sit in little cafes and they would give you those deli style options of meats, breads, cheeses and oils ... the list goes on. I usually ask the wait staff to recommend the food as everything on the menu is pretty good! Wine selection is decent and beers are cheap starting at $6.50!! Until next time ... 8.5/10.

Finally an Italian place in Northbridge that is traditional in the true sense. Not bursting at the seams with pasta! No Mafia is deluxe. Make sure you visit.

No Mafia is great for a night out without loud music, for a catch up with friends over nibbles and interesting drinks. <br/>I love the service here - no pressure and genuinely friendly advice from the staff on what their food and drinks are like. Just for that, I give this place a good rating as it is hard to find places that are not solely interested in up-selling expensive menu items. The cocktails are somewhat an acquired taste, but if you are bold and not afraid to try something new, by all means you should give it a go. Love the variety of spirits on the menu too.

Amazing food. Quick to the table. Service was amazing. Great concept. The Tomato mozzarella salad was excellent really stood out. I will be back

Best customer service I have had in a long time! My partner and I were wandering around casually looking for somewhere for dinner. We stopped to browse the menu and were asked if we needed any help. I explained that I have an intolerance to a number of foods and the lady who served us was fantastically accommodating! <br/><br/>She pointed out various items on the menu that I could eat, and offered for us to sit up at the bar and chat to the chef about the food and what was in what. Such a great experience and amazing food to boot!
PerthFoodieGirls
Such a great place to eat. Love that it's a tapas/share place. Lots of options to choose from if you like meat or if you're a vegetarian. There's food for anyone 😊
Jo
Great concept which hasn't been done before in Northbridge with so much potential, but far too expensive for what you get. We ordered a selection of dishes and a drink each (which by the way the wine pours are incredibly conservative) and the bill came to $115, after which we were still starving. Staff are excellent but they need to review their prices and wine pours if they are going to survive. Won't be going back.

Si Si Si. Popped in early (7ish) on a Friday night on the way to meet peeps elsewhere, thought it'd be a good pre-cursor to the rest of the night. Hadn't been before, and the place was full of energy with a buzzy vibe spilling out onto the street. Pulled up a pew at the end of the bar and let the staff do their thing "just bring us what you're good at" was the brief. Negroni: big ice, good vermouth, perfect. Salumi : simple, fresh, just what Italian should be. Couple of glasses of Italian blanco, fit the bill nicely. In and out in half an hour, looking forward to a full night with the No Mafia crew where we can further explore their menu. Big thumbs up

Great Food and Atmosphere. Wow! My favourite new place in Perth! I travel a lot through Asia and only come to Australia every few months (mainly Perth). This place is fantastic! The food is first class and the service and wine suggestions are top drop! I love the fact that the friendly waitress gave me a wine magazine to read because i was on my own.. The perfect place to dine solo.. Beautiful and friendly staff (including the chefs) See you next time I'm in Perth No Mafia :)

My love of Italian food was just reconfirmed after a visit to No Mafia on Sunday evening. I have walked past No Mafia a few times but never actually gone in. From the street it looks like a casual eatery but upon looking closer at the menu one can see that despite the casualness of the style of service it is very well versed in what is good food and what isn't. The menu read like that of an upmarket restaurant but at reasonable prices. Perfect for Northbridge. The interior of No Mafia was basic but vibrant. The tiling was red and white and made the blue stools really pop. The tables were set nicely with a flower, olive oil and rock salt.  We started with a bottle of Italian red which was delicious. It was good to see a large majority of the wines were Italian. The menu at No Mafia is designed to share so we ordered five things, upon recommendation, to share. First up was the prosciutto di parma ($10). This was a generous mound of the cured meat on a little red and white chequered grease proof paper. The prosciutto was nice but a tad on the dry side. I am used to my prosciutto being a little more moist. The next dish was the white anchovies ($5). This is a seriously good price for the serve we got. I love white anchovies and these were no exception. Delicious and tart from the vinegar they had been cured in. I will definitely be going back for more. The next dish was my favourite. The kingfish crudo with pomegranate, fennel and parsley ($21). Honestly you just can't go wrong with raw kingfish in my book. It is such a nice, firm fish. I was pleased to see a generous serve of the kingfish as well! The pomegranate and fennel on the side complimented it nicely and it was a dish I could have eaten all on my own! Sticking with the seafood theme we choose the swordfish next. Seared swordfish loin, beach banana, broccoli and lemon ($21).  The swordfish was soft and melted the mouth. I wasnt sure what beach banana was but apparently it is a legume that is native to Albany WA.

Wow. Well I am glad people are reading my reviews and this is a must the egg plant parmigiana was perfect..try it you will love it...
HeyKitty
Great food, wine and service. Only complaint is the price. Really expensive for the small portions.
Tegan_summerville2341
Great food and service. Had dinner here last night with my friend, probably the best service i have ever had in Perth! Great wine recommendations and even suggested somewhere to go for a drink afterwards. You must try the sardines!
Innit
Great food and location. 100ml glasses are misleading and dissapointing

We will be back. Dined here with special friends. Food was amazing. So tasty & the flavour was spot on. Service was very good. <br/>Would like to see a few more drink selections. Hubby is a Bourban man and sadly no Bourban. Not many spirits too select from.<br/>A litle more generous on the quantity of champagne in the glass would have been appreciated.<br/><br/>Overall the food did outway the negs so defintely be back again.<br/>Suzie Kane

From the owners of the Precinct in East Victoria Park , comes No Mafia, a narrow Italian themed restaurant at the south end of William Street.  A party of four popped in to get dinner after seeing one of the shows at the Fringe Festival (yes, the review is a little late).   As it turns out we didn't get served any dinner, but we still all still left feeling positive vibes for the place.
Queen Of Bad Timing
The parmigiana is just beautiful, stunning really. Crunchy on the top and well formed on the inside with grilled eggplant, cherry tomatoes and that moorish parmesan cream.

Can't believe they can charge 23 dollar for 6 slices of thin and small meat. Very small portion. If you are looking for a nice place with great food n wine around that area, probably it's better idea to go to Bivouac across the road. You're welcome
Hamish The Opinionated
My current go to place at city end of William St. Great attentive service, interesting wine list, food does the job. Love the people watching at the front bench table.
The Hungry Caterpillar
Tapas: overpriced food in small proportions. Call me old fashioned, but I like to have enough food served on my plate to satisfy my hunger. If you're hungry, go to the spaghetti bar around the corner or IsDonburi. Oh, and the waitor's are really up themselves considering they're waitor's. Just saying.

Post show dinner. Went with my son after a festival show . Great finish to our night out . Food was delicious - fresh and flavorsome . Service was friendly and efficient - most unusual in Perth . Lovely atmosphere . Will be going back very soon !!

Awesome food and service every time! Have been 5 times now since it opened and it's always hit the spot! I can't believe I've lived this long without Aperol!! Yum yum yum!

Great food and service. I've been here twice since it opened. Food is simple, relatively healthy, and delicious. I've added it to my rotation of regular restaurants.<br/><br/>Favourite dishes are the parma prosciutto, mozzarella cheese, triple cooked potatoes and seared kingfish.
Danny
Great tasting food, attentive staff and nice vibe. Not the run of the mill tapas. Damien the chef sure knows his flavour combinations. The seasonal mushroom dish is sublime. Hope it stays on the menu

Like it, but food is a little disappointing.. So I went here a few weeks ago for a few drinks, while waiting for a table at Bivouac, and really liked it. Attentive service, nice laid back atmosphere, great location for Fringe Festival venues. I was keen to go back and try the food, as learned they were gluten free friendly, so did so this evening. Unfortunately the food is bland. We ordered the swordfish and the pork and neither were exciting, just okay.

Loved it all. We managed to get a seat at the bar on a busy Saturday night. Cosy, but great view of the kitchen and staff working their butts off. Service a bit slow, but friendly and informative. Loved the sardines and the white anchovies, the mushrooms were delicious and the eggplant parma good. Bar staff suggested i add orange to my (boring) tonic water - yum, thanks! In summary - great vibe, great food and really good prices too - 3 antipasti and 2 mains, 1 alcoholic bev and 1 non alc was $79. We left full and satisfied - thanks! Will definitely be back.

UPDATE #2 (June 2016):  I've been to No Mafia a couple of times since my first so-so review and each time I think I like it a little more. My husband and I popped in for a quick dinner and drink before the theatre last night and had a tasty meal for $78 (including 3 glasses of wine). Would recommend the triple cooked chips and the bread with pecorino and honey a tasty starter. The gnoochi was nice but not amazing. My husband loved his anchovies (with bread on the side). It's not somewhere to go for a long and leisurely meal but for a drink and a bit to eat I really like it.<br/><br/>FIRST REVIEW: Liked it, didn't love it. I was excited to try out No Mafia, which might explain why I felt a little disappointed by what was a perfectly nice meal. The conditions at the tables beside the bar are fairly cosy but comfortable enough and service was quick and mostly good. My biggest disappointment was simply that the tomato salad and the asparagus salad were a little on the boring side. They were *fine* but no more than that. The bread was terrific, as you'd hope given it's from Freo's Bread in Common. The triple cooked potatoes were also fantastic and my husband tells me the white anchovies were brilliant. I'd go back for a glass of wine and another round of potatoes but probably not for the intimate meal I'd hoped for.<br/><br/>UPDATE #1: I recently returned to No Mafia for a lazy Sunday lunch. Maybe it was just that my expectations were lowered or maybe they'd found their feet a bit more but I had such a delightful time I thought it was worth updating my review. A friend and I shared a couple of the salads with some bread and it was all delicious. Service was helpful with our wine choices and it was a really perfect lunching spot. I certainly plan to return and will give dinner another crack as well.

Nice. Good food, good staff. Just a nice place to eat and drink in general.

So much to love. Dined here on Tuesday night and could not fault the place, one of my favorite dining experiences in a long while. Let's start with their awesome wine selection. They absolutely know their wines and offered tastings of their recommendations so we could choose our favourite, love!. The food was incredible -excellent produce, prepared beautifully. It's the little touches like the flame grilled flavour on the pork loin, local Bread in Common sourdough and the amazing house made mozzarella.. Do yourself a favour and hit up this place before the crowds start flocking in for Fringe!

Delightful!. Cams to eat here the other week. Is now one of my fav places to eat! Excellent Italian tapas, top quality, service with a smile and enthusiam, so so good!! And the drinks menu? Awesome! Homemade Limoncello and wine from Mt Etna Italy. If ur a fine food and wine kinda person then u must go here!

Fantastic authentic italian food, Amazing service (which is so rare for perth!!) a MUST eat at in Northbridge!!!!

Beautiful food lovely service. The food was excellent very simple and tasty and the wait staff were very friendly and helpful. Only negative was our food arrived in dribs and drabs would have preferred some of the dishes to be served at the same time and 2 of the items we ordered didn't arrive at all. hopefully this is just teething problems and it will all be sorted out soon.

So glad to have them. Sunday December 14 Early Dinner<br/><br/>Love the booths at the back<br/>Love the knowledgeable staff<br/>Love the range of cocktail concoctions they have<br/>Love the tasty food they serve<br/>Love the freshness vibe of the place<br/>Loathe the toilets being around the back of an alley way next to the bar, need a key and is not attached to it!<br/><br/>So glad it has taken the spot of its predecessor ! Definite great addition to Perth!

Delicious food!. When I went to No Mafia, I felt to be back to my homeland...Sicily! Mainly thanks because of your special cuisine! The food was amazing with simple ingredients but full of flavours! Plus the staff were really lovely and able to recommend the perfect wine with the appropriate dish. <br/>To conclude, I'm looking forward to come back again and definitely recommend to other people! :-)

Great little bar. Stumbled upon this place on Friday and had an amazing time. Very authentic and fresh Italian good, and a wine list to<br/>Blow ones socks off!

Ripping little spot. Som.... Ripping little spot. <br/><br/>Something for everyone on the menu. Loved the little italian larger- can't remember the name. It's in a can! The pork it's delicious! <br/><br/>Has a nice tight buzz. Well done.

WOW!!. Went tonight with my girlfriend for out date night. Sat at the kitchen, it was pretty cool to see the chefs cooking!! We had a couple of cocktails to start off with. I had a "godfather oldfashioned" IT was delicious and my gf had a nectarine bellini. We went for the staffs recommendations. Ate sardines (well my gf ate most of them), mortadells WHICH WAS LIKE ONLK 5 BUX!! Then went for the Pork Loin, Potatoes and Mushrooms. Pork was my fav, super tender! Can't wait to come back for dessert!

Great new addition to Northbridge. Love this little place! I've been 3 times already and every time has been amazing! Great food, service and LOVE the wine list

Vego friendly. Love this new little place. heaps of vegetarian options. the mushrooms is to die for. not forgetting its eggplant parmigiana and triple cooked potato may be the best ones in town. will def be back!

Amazing food, great service. I was a little hesitant at first having seen the prices on the menu - and it's still not somewhere I would go for a hearty meal. But it's great if you're sharing with friends, the cost isn't too bad. <br/><br/>The service is wonderful, very friendly and welcoming, they're happy to explain the unusual menu. If you like Frangelico you HAVE to try their limoncello cocktail, it's out of this world. <br/><br/>Highly recommended! A welcome addition to Northbridge, much better than the Jus Burgers that was there before!

The service at No Mafia was exceptionally quick and very friendly. Prices are a bit steep for the amount of food, but this seems to be the standard in Perth these days. No Mafia is not a place where you would linger unless you were lucky enough to get one of the booths at the back. Most of the seating is backless stools and you wouldn’t be too comfy sitting here for hours. If I’m paying high prices for a meal, I want all the comforts that go with that meal. I don’t know what it is with so many eateries these days where the only seating is stools. Rigor backtus anyone?

Occupying the space that formerly housed Jus Burgers, the team behind Vic Park’s “The Precinct”, the first thing one notices about this small space is the motto “no pizza, no pasta”.

Focusing on southern Italian cuisine with handpicked Italian and local wines, the food bypasses serving stodgy pastas and bread in favour of fresh and nearly entirely gluten free share plates...

No Mafia. Possibly the narrowest little restaurant in Northbridge, but despite its slight size it is definitely packing a punch in the food stakes. Taking inspiration from the recipes and ethos of Southern Italy, No Mafia takes a modern approach to traditional Italian Cuisine with a focus on using the best and freshest local products. The food is simple and born from the ingredients with a sophisticated by the glass wine list, featuring the best of Southern Italy and Western Australia. No Mafia promises to offer a relaxed, yet sophisticated addition to the Northbridge dining scene. No Mafia / No Fuss I went to my first ever Fringe Festival show on Sunday. I’m not a particularly arty person, I see my blog as my creative outlet, but last year I saw Stratosfunk at The Laneway Lounge’s first birthday party. I just loved them, so booked in to see their ‘Tell Mama, The Etta James Story’ show at Fringe. Beforehand GG and I met up with Mrs M for a bite at No Mafia. Mr M was meant to be there too but was at the Scorchers game, fair enough really because those lads were having a solid season and it was the semi-final. We were seated in one of the booths at the back, which was fairly spacious for our group of three. Given we had limited time we swiftly perused the menu, with the ladies ordering a glass of prosecco (glera) nv, borgo Molino, treviso, veneto, ($8) while GG kept things local with a glass of the cabernet sauvignon 05, glenmore, margaret river($13). On the food front there were many tasty options on the menu and in quick fire succession we ordered some of the bread in common sourdough ($4 pp), chilli pancetta ($10 per 75grams), beef carpaccio, anchovies, pickled mushroom, parmesan ($4.50 pp), baby tomatoes, mozzarella, provincial granola, aged balsamic ($18), triple cooked potatoes, chili, rosemary, garlic ($12) and an eggplant parmigiana, basil pesto, parmesan cream ($20) . It sounded ambitious and I knew Mrs M had had a late lunch, but I knew GG and I were both pr

The bresoala was presented on a paper typical of a deli. I’m not too fussed about the lack of the dish not being served on a plate, I like the simplicity, but they did provided a plate and said to drizzle a bit of olive oil as traditionally enjoyed. The slices are super thin. They’re translucent! The first slice tasted nice, lovely flavour, I could keep on eating this any day. After a handful of slices, I did drizzle a bit of olive oil which really brings out the flavour. Simple, interesting, yum.
