Review Authentic Bites Dumpling House - Perth

Nemi Harlem
8 months ago it was nice and the standard quality of dumplings has drop dramatically and is not as morish as before. Usually therre is a long line outside but today there wasn’t (24/1/22) . Totally dissapointed in the Ingredients and consistency has drop and cut back. Maybe a change of chef or we came on the wrong day. Perhaps is due to covid and rise in cost too. I rather eat Diana chan dumplings. We wouldn’t go back.

No doubt, the dumplings and dim sum were sensational - fresh, delicious and packed full of filling. I’d stick to ordering just them next time. I had a bowl of mince on dry noodle and it really did not get my juices flowing - I’d pass on this in the future

Efficient service Tasty food Transported back to Hong Kong with great flavours in the pork and prawn wonton with house made sauce that was a spicy satay and left you wanting more! Excellent value 12 wonton, 6 dumpling and 3 pork buns with 2 drinks for $37. Great lunch for two

Over-hyped and unauthentic Chinese… Found this on multiple blogs and long queue at the front, but reality is you can probably find the same quality perhaps cheaper food in a food court of a random mall. Xiao Long Bao is not soupy and the texture is tough. Pan-fried dumplings are tasteless and not crispy at all. Feels like to me they have such huge demand and they don’t care about the quality anymore.

Certainly one of the best dumpling place in Perth, very popular, if you go there during the peak lunch/dinner time, there may be a long queue, may need to queue for a while, Best to have the Xiao Long Bao there, not take away, have them whie they are just steamed/cooked and juicy.
KARIM Songlin
Highly recommend the dumplings with peanut sauce. Love the cucumber salad too, fresh and appetising. The restaurant also offers free hot tea

You may have to queue, but worth the wait, with out a doubt. $70 for 4ppl, 45 dumplings with drinks, you cant go wrong. Fresh, full of flavour, fast service, A++ would go again, and again.

I used to really love this place, but unfortunately they have changed the way they do their fried dumplings. They used to come out with like a skin on them, in one big piece, but yesterday they came out all separately on a place. The pork and kimchi dumpling have also changed the filling, hardly any kimchi in them. The cucumber salad is still delicious, so is the braised beef soup. The squid tentacles are also delicious. The staff are not very friendly at all, not a smile to be seen, but the service is quick I guess.

Authentique c'est bien la définition de ce restaurant de l'accueil au service et à la fraîcheur des dumpling 🖒 délicieux tout simplement.

Delish warming lunch on a rainy afternoon. Xiao long bao; Boiled pork n kimchi dumplings; Pan fried pork bun; Soft tofu with century egg; Cold crispy cucumber; Steak fried chicken with rice; and Mince on dried noodles. Everything was really really tasty and staff were so helpful and smiley. Lovely.

Great price)) always fun trying all there dumplings on the menu. Not all may be to your liking but if you don't try you will never know!)

I was lucky enough to host my birthday dinner at Authentic Bites yesterday- absolutely delicious food and great service, really accomodating for such a big group! Just go early to avoid the queue! 10/10 would go back

Cheap and Cheerful.....Exceeded expectations. Yummy food. BYO. Could not be faulted. 8 of us turned up and were accommodated. We all went home feeling full and happy. 8 people fed for $125. You can't go wrong.

I came to Authentic Bites and waited in line for 30 mins for the Pork Xiao Long Bao and it did not disappoint! The dumplings were exactly how it should taste - beautifully flavored, juicy and hot. <br/><br/>I also tried the pork and prawn wonton in spice sauce - the wonton dumplings were covered in peanuts which added a nice nutty flavour. The sauce on the dumplings was very unique and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Definitely recommend getting the Chicken Steak on rice - the chicken is crispy, juicy and salty which went perfectly with the rice.<br/><br/>The service is quick and the staff are also pretty friendly. The portion sizes are pretty good and filling. Most of the dishes are priced well. There were some dishes that I thought were a little overpriced like the cucumber salad.

Have been going here for a long time. We love the XLB, panfried dumplings and the boiled ones with spicy sauce. Service is always quick and efficient.

The salted egg custard bun is a must try! 😍 delicious fresh dumplings too

Food was served efficiently within a reasonable amount of time. The soup dumplings we ordered were so so good. I'd come back just for that!! I think their dumplings are rlly good. The wontons could have been better.

If you have an ipad to place orders then make sure to keep a track of the orders. Orders have been forgotten, or mixed up. Had to wait 20mins+ in between each plate served.
Georgia Andrews
Amazing, delicious and authentic Chinese food. By far has the best dumplings I’ve ever had. This restaurant is quickly gaining attention and is becoming busier every week, get in early to avoid waiting 15 plus minutes in line!! Staff are friendly however the food is the best part about this place and in the end that’s all that matters. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys Chinese cuisine.

They don’t sell alcohol

Beautiful food with great prices. Love the Dumpling noodle soup and Chilly dumpling. Serve with free hot tea.<br/>

Possibly one of the best dumplings in Perth<br/>Lining up is guaranteed but worth it<br/>Service is quick and pleasant<br/><br/>The dumplings in the spicy sauce is a MUST<br/>The xiao long baos are delicious also.<br/><br/>Would definitely be back!

It must be very popular that there's always a queue even on a Monday night! Fast and efficient service. Had the hot and sour soup, traditional xiao lung bao, boiled chicken and prawns dumplings, pan fried pork dumplings. Food was good enough for its reasonable price, but I personally think that Little Bao at Cannington tastes better and fresher. Will still dine in here if I'm around the area, but would rather go to Little Bao if I had to choose between the two
Ak
This is my third time but taste of dumplings were getting down. Use to be better than this time.<br/>The menu is also not interesting and many of them are similar...not excited anymore.
The Food Dude
I am not a huge dumpling fan, however if I was this would be one of my all time favourites. Waiting in line was part of the fun and a reflection of the food here being worth the wait. Authentic experience, no alcohol a slight hindrance but just BYO in future. Nice, cheap option out.
Michelle
We come here all of the time and the food is always amazing. The spicy pork and prawn wantons and the soup dumplings are our favorite but everything is good!
Perthfoodie1269
Very very fast service which is great, their ordering system through the iPad is great. Food is priced well and always tasty, my only complaint would be that they seem to always be out of pork buns, even only 30 minutes after opening.

- Steamed Vegetarian Dumplings- Amazing!!! Definitely our personal favourite from the way it’s       served to the way it tastes especially with the chilli oil.<br/><br/>- Pan Fried Vegetarian Dumplings– Although very similar to the steamed dumplings it’s a lot drier and although we still like it, we still prefer the steamed dumplings. <br/>- Vegetarian Dumplings Noodle Soup- Although Simple we still love it. Messy to eat but with the chilli oil, it tastes amazing. <br/>- Chilli oil with soy sauce and vinegar- Left at each table to make ourselves, this is the perfect accompaniment to the dumplings. Personally, we think this is the star of the show, not the dumplings.<br/><br/>Pros:<br/><br/>- The dumplings taste amazing here especially with the all you can have chilli oil.<br/><br/>- Quite cheap for such amazing food!<br/><br/>- Everything is fresh and the service is fast and efficient!!<br/><br/>- The place is crowded and you definitely need to wait which means it’s a popular restaurant.<br/><br/>- There are many vegetarian options- although most of the options have the same fillings.<br/><br/>- It’s easy to order and easy to tell which are the vegetarian dishes unlike many other Chinese<br/><br/>restaurants.<br/><br/>Cons:<br/><br/>- The restaurant doesn’t take reservations and on a Friday night there is always a line outside<br/><br/>which means you need to wait.<br/><br/>- They are very efficient but this means that you get small tables, so it may not be comfortable<br/><br/>seating.<br/><br/>- With the fast efficiency comes fast service, so this is not a restaurant you go to where you can take your time and linger over the meal. They serve quickly and clear things out quickly so although they may not ask you to leave people don’t tend to linger here. <br/>- Not sure if they do gluten free options.<br/><br/>- The parking costs money here and quite a lot since it is in North Bridge.<br/><br/>- Although you get vegetarian options, all the fillings are exactly the same so don’t expect variety.

Pork dumpling was uncooked. Told the staff and she told us it "looks" uncooked but it is cooked. Went up with food poisoning after. HOW DISGUSTING AND IRRESPONSIBLE. NEVER GOING BACK
Tania
My FAVOURITE dumpling house in Perth, I am a regular here! Speedy service and the food is simple yet so delicious and packed with flavour. My absolute favourite is the vegetarian dumplings with sweet/sour sauce. I come every week! Thankyou ABDH I love you!!!
QueenLad
The Xiao long baos and dumplings are good by Peeth standard. VEGETARIANS - be prepared that the vegetarian steamed and boiled dumplings are almost the same, so if you're looking for a bit of diversity ensure to order a few side dishes.
Sammie
Lined up for 15 min. Understandable as it’s pretty small. Enjoyed the soup dumplings and the pork gaozi. The braised beef brisket was good. And that fried chicken steak cutlet! Wow! Be prepared to line up but it’s worth it
Food Mania
Xiao lung Bao always my favorite food. I love the soup inside the Bao. It is very juicy and large. Staff is friendly. This shop located below a building inside a food court.

Landed in Perth for the last interstate trip of 2018 with Iron Fist. First stop was dinner before the long day of work tomorrow. Wanting something good, quick and convenient, I opted for Authentic Bites Dumpling House in the CBD. Apparently quite at few people agreed with how good it was, and there was a substantial wait for a table.
JuYeethejoey
We had the pork xiao long bau, spicy pork and prawn dumpling, pan fried pork bun and hot and sour noodle. All were exceptionally delicious except the noodle which wasnt that great. Come early if you would like to avoid the queue.

3.5<br/><br/>Clean, efficient, and one of the better dumpling places in Perth. Of special note is the fact that they haven't crammed as many tables in as possible, leaving me with a comfortable, unrushed feeling.<br/><br/>Ordered the hot and sour soup, prawn and luffa xlb and shu mai, and did not have to wait long before they were brought out.<br/><br/>The soup was well seasoned and had a nice heat to it, though I normally prefer mine a little more sour. The prawns and pork used in the various dumplings were fresh and the dumpling skins had good elasticity - it's a pity I didn't have a companion as I would have loved to try more!

Friend and I were craving dumplings and decided to check this place out based on the high zomato reviews. We had to wait about 15 minutes before we could get in but the queue moved quickly enough and we liked how the tables weren’t cramped together once we got inside. We placed our order on an iPad which was very efficient and we received our meals in no time. The soup and pan fried dumplings did not disappoint 😋 we left super happy and for $12 each, our bank accounts were grateful, too. Will definitely be back if I’m after a quick and simple meal.
GetinmyBelly
Good dumplings but extremely watered down soups and noodles lacking taste and flavour. Would go back for the xiao long Bao and dumplings but not much else.
Nicole Palmer
Great dumplings can’t go wrong with anything<br/>You pick really! Favourites are the xiao Long Bao, spicy wonton and the pan fried dumplings. Side dishes - soups etc are pretty good too.
Jessi67
Nope!....never ever ever ever again.<br/>At the end of the night, while still waiting for food, we watched while one of the kitchen staff walked around the kitchen and into the restaurant with a bloodied tissue stuffed in his nose. Yuck! <br/><br/><br/>
Whynot
A very tasteful place for people who love dumplings like myself! The ordering process is really easy as they give a tablet menu for you to add dishes to your virtual cart and when you’re done, you call the staff over to process your order. I usually order the steamed juicy pork xiao bao(8 pieces) and they never disappoint. I also tried the pork and prawn wonton soup and I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s very flavourless so I suggest you get something else.
Munchk1n
Tried this place for the first time given the good reviews. Price was reasonable for the portion size. The best dishes were- Xiao long bao, fried chicken steak and the noodle soup. The spring rolls were pretty standard, the scallion pancake was a bit disappointing - a bit under cooked and not enough scallions. The plate of Choy sum in oyster was very sandy - so was not washed properly or at all prior to cooking. We ended the night with salted egg yolk custard buns but sadly no salted egg yolk taste at all, just sweet custard. Not bad overall. The service is quick, ordering straight forward on the iPad.

Every time I come here this place has a huge line, I am shanghainese and grew up eating shanghai dumplings so the Shanghai dumplings here aren’t my favourite, I understand a lot of people like it but the dumplings just have an overpowering sesame oil-like fragrant to me that I can’t bring myself to love.<br/>Other dishes are lovely especially the minced pork with rice and flavoured egg, that I love more than the dumplings because it’s so flavourful, however I hope this restaurant gives more minced pork to go with the rice as this dish is so imbalanced with so much rice, I don’t even mind paying more.<br/>

We ordered the hot and sour soup 🥣 and the pork dumplings 🥟 we order this from UBER eats <br/><br/>The hot and sour soup 🥣 was delicious and had the right amount of sour and hot! The mushrooms were lovely <br/><br/>The pork dumplings 🥟 tasted delicious! Amazing with soy sauce and chilli oil! <br/><br/>Can’t wait to try some more food from here ❤️ <br/>

It’s my day off work and my darling was so sweet to bring me here to pamper me. This has been on my list of places to go for my Asian fix. It was a simple and clean place. Chinese tea was self service, which was handy. We ordered the steam vegetarian dumplings, pan fried buns, Chinese broccoli and the spicy wantons. The spicy wantons were the best but they were not spicy enough and on the sweet side. I did not like the chewy texture of the steamed dumplings. Overall, it was inexpensive and filled my tummy. What more can I ask for. 😍

My go-to and absolute-fave. Perfect for catchups with a good friend over good food. My favourite is the boiled dumpling with the peanuts and spicy sauce, the Xiao long baos with luffa and now the salty egg yolk bun(?). Every time I go, I am always leaving happy. Affordable pricing too! I wouldn't recommend going with more than 4 friends otherwise it gets too difficult to find seating. There is usually a line outside the door. But it's definitely worth the wait.
Edward Nguyen
I told her "I'm craving dumplings" and so she took me here.<br/>We order a plate of meat dumplings with some pork steamed buns and some other thing I can't remember. It was alot of food for two people, the weight all total to won ton XD.<br/>Everything was delicious! We even had to wait in a single file line before we could get in. <br/><br/>Also it had a self service tea refiller. I love tea! It brought good memories of Japan.
Georgie
Best dumplings in Perth! Soup dumplings are a must try as well as the pan fried dumplings. Service is very quick and attentive but be prepared to wait in line as it gets quite busy

Amazing food and great prices. We ordered three dishes, and couldn’t fault anything. The flavours were fresh and tasty. We’re looking forward to our next visit.

The dumplings are so good I don't even mind lining up for a table, always spring and fresh with tasty wrappers.<br/>Top favorites are the wontons, pork and crab dumplings and the seaweed soup.<br/>The noodles are tasty too!

I have always liked coming here despite the queue. However lately things has changed dramatically.<br/><br/>Staff attitude- not a single smile, rude, not accommodating. We were in a group of 4 with pram, the shop was empty on a weekday 2pm, we requested to have 2 tables combined since it was empty, they refused and insisted for us to squeeze with the pram. We walked out of the shop immediately. They close at 2.30pm in the afternoon, are you expecting your shop to be filled in 30 minutes?<br/><br/>Food- food was nice. I ordered noodle on one occasion and.. I pulled out a whole strand of nylon string out of my mouth, that was pretty disgusting I kid you not. Although they replaced it, but I kinda lost my appetite already. Second time, ordered fried chicken, chicken was pink and raw. Third time I had spider in my bowl. <br/><br/>So I’m going to take a break from authentic bites for now.
Preaw Haket
I used to love this place and I tell everyone they make the best Xiao long bao in the entire world, but just last week I noticed they weren't the same as before. the last 2 times (out of 3 visits) in the past 3 weeks, the bao skin became slightly thicker than the perfect thickness it used to be, slightly differently wrapped and also the soup filling didn't taste the same. their other dishes also didn't taste as good as they used to be? I hope it's not just my imagination and I understand if there's a new chef in training but hopefully it'll go back to the previous standard soon because I might not return if not :/
Andrew Pasalich
Authentic bites - you are joking right?! What is all the fuss about with the line out the front!! Perth wake up, this food is crap! Stodgy, heavy dough encased dumplings filled with indescribable fillings. An iPad ordering system that is difficult to access when you’re sharing 3 with the whole restaurant. Also ordered the soup. Two minute noodles are better!
Nasty N Tasty
So I’ll start off by saying that $60 can definitely feed 3 sexy hungry people. The chicken steak was delicious (8/10) and the crab xiao long bao was exquisite (10/10). Yummy.<br/><br/>But as always there are some things that ruined my night. Though the chicken steak and crab xiao long bao were excellent, the kimchi dumpling was average at best and the pan fried Pork dumpling was soggy and plain. In addition the toilets were absolutely disgusting, this made me VERY upset. I almost lost my large appetite after visiting the rest rooms.<br/><br/>So my final verdict is yes I would recommend this place but try your best to avoid the restrooms.<br/> -Nasty Annie XOXO

Spicy won tons and the xiao long bao 👏🏼 The only two dishes you need to order! Great value. Line is a bit long but turnover is really quick if you're in a small group.
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!
This place was a busy but the food was lacking flavour. <br/><br/>The shallot pancake was more like a pasty.<br/><br/>My friend fair the beef noodles was lacking cleaver. <br/><br/>I had boiled dumplings, they where nice but lacking flavour. <br/><br/>Spring rolls where the highlight of the night !!!!
Ashleigh Jayne
This restaurant offers some of the most amazing and tasty dumplings in all of WA. Their vegetables are crisp and fresh with a lot of flavour. They offer fast service with take away orders as well.
Travel & Nosh
Do yourself a favor and come and checkout the dumplings! Love the dumplings in spicy sauce, best I’ve had in Perth! ❤️ braised beef rice and seaweed also a winner :)
Tonto
Loved it here.<br/><br/>Food: Awesome and tasty. I had 6 steamed pork and kimchi dumplings and the seaweed salad. Both were fantastic.<br/><br/>Price: $13.50 for both and most importantly I was very full. The complimentory all you can drink tea is a plus also<br/><br/>Service: Cannot fault it.<br/><br/>Ambiance: Simple, clean and comfy.<br/><br/>Return factor: Without a doubt.<br/><br/>Well done, more places should follow suit
Malaysianinperth
The food was amazing! Ordered through ipad system. Food was served fairly quick. Dumplings were bloody delicious!! But not the noodles it was tasteless. Waitress was “unhappy” Overall I’d come back for dumplings again.
Shoey Kay
To be honest I don’t see what all the fuss is about. A lot of the dumplings are quite bland (pork steamed dumplings, chicken and prawn dumplings, Shang hai dumplings) but the spicy pork wontons are nice (though not spicy at all), the pan fried pork dumplings are good, and the beef roll was my favourite.<br/>The food comes out fairly quickly once you order (done on an iPad with pictures which is good for seeing what you’ll get if you’re unfamiliar with dim sum food), the staff are meh but no worse than anywhere else. The pricing was fairly reasonable. I liked the fact that you could order a large or small serve of most dumpling dishes on the menu.
Lunarcry
This place usually has long queues outside but we managed to get in immediately at 1.30pm on a weekend. It was useful being to order ourselves on an iPad with the menu having photos of the dishes too. Pretty good food. Definitely would come back whenever I have a dumpling craving.
Erin
After reading the reviews that say that people line up out the door we were relieved that it only took us 2 minutes to get a table on a Saturday night. The iPad ordering system is great and easy to use, food came out quickly and the dumplings were bloody delicious. Cheap, good food!
Steph Renshaw
I luuuuuurve authentic bites dumpling house. Me and my partner come here almost every week and constantly crave it. The dumplings are delicious and good value, especially the veg dumplings. Soup broth is a bit bland but soy sauce solves that easily, otherwise it is one of my favourite places to eat in Perth!
Mariya
Our new favourite! Amazing dumplings, thin pastry, a lot of variety and fast service. Every dish we ordered tasted amazing. Loved porn and kimchi friend dumplings as well as dumplings in spice sauce! Omg I will be back again and again!
David Melville
Great variety of food and friendly staff. We took our two primary school children for lunch and they loved it. The kimchi and pork fried dumplings were delicious. We will be back.<br/>
FreeEagle
The food here was very good before, however the food quality here has dropped significantly because the chefs has reduced the actual time required to deep-fried & pan-fried. I understand there‘s a queue waiting but if the food quality continues to drop, I am pretty certain that I won't be in that queue anymore.
Katherine
Freshly made delicious dumplings, I recommend and would visit again. Reasonably priced and generous serves. Service could be better (tea, water, bowls provided) instead of self serve but staff were friendly but not overly helpful. We didn't have a wait but be mindful there sometimes can be a line.
More Than Nourishment
After reading past reviews, I expected to wait in line and it wasn't wrong when we arrived. We came on a sunny Saturday around midday. There were two families in front of us and we waited around 10-15min which wasn't too bad. When we got inside, it was quite warm and the tables were close together (close enough to hear their conversation clearly). We promptly ordered using their iPad system which I liked as you could see photos of what you were ordering and the total bill. Food came out steaming hot not long after. We shared the braised beef noodle. The beef was tender and broth was full of flavour. As for the dumplings, I preferred the pan fried over the steamed ones. My favourite was the Kim chi and pork ones although I would be happy with any of the flavours. The dumplings were juicy and freshly made (you can see them making it through the clear window in the restaurant). I was impressed and would come back.
Bruna Canto
I will most definitely come back!<br/><br/>The place lack a little bit in the good looking environment area and if you don't get there early enough you're likely to face a line, but that just shows how good they are. <br/>I love ordering in their iPads so there is no mistake and you can see properly what you're choosing. The prices are very fair, great staff and also delivers through UberEATS.
Demetria Yong
Get in early! The restaurant opens at 5.30 and there is usually a line outside waiting for tables by 5.45! The food is really good especially the pork and prawn wantons in spicy sauce, and also the braised beef noodles! Free tea and water. Food comes out quite quickly too.
Eero
We got here around 5.35 and several tables were already filled. By 5.45 there were already people waiting outside. <br/><br/>We got fried chicken steak with rice, pan fried prawn and chicken dumplings, steamed prawn and chicken dumplings and chives and egg pancake. The menu was an ipad which is interesting and easy to use because of the pictures. You choose what you want and the server will enter their code after to send the order to kitchen. You also get a small print out of the order (very handy for review purposes)<br/><br/>Everything was fairly tasty, nothing bad to say about it but probably not special enough to warrant a revisit from us
DforDee
nice atmosphere with friendly / helpful staff. The kimchi pork steamed dumplings were well seasoned and very tasty. The crab & pork xiaolong dumplings were a tad overpowering as if too much seasoning was added to bring out the crab flavour. The crab meat wasn't as fresh as I hoped but it wasn't...
Asian Tounge
City Allendale square store is a nightmare, disorganised and forgetting orders. Couldn't even track the orders when asked. Wasted an hour and left with an empty stomach. Shut the store if you can't get the basics right. Worst lunch experience in a long time. Pathetic.
Sam
Ordered through uber-eats one night and the food was really awful. Tasteless and bland. If you want good Chinese, try Miss Chows in Claremont.<br/>
Ooo
I like the steam dumplings, especially the veg ones. So juicy and yummy, full of goodness . Pahlallalalallalalalallalalallalalallalalallalallal

We came here for dinner on a rainy night and the place was packed. We thought it must be good then. We ordered the xiaolong baos, the steamed dumplings, the pan fried dumplings and fried pork buns. I have been to Shanghai before and eaten at NanXiang which is one of the best xiaolong pao restaurants. I was hoping that this place would have some comparison to it. Sadly, it is far from it. The xiaolong pao skins were a bit thick and the fried pork buns were too big. The pan fried dumplings skins weren't crispy enough and I didn't appreciate that it all came stuck together. It looked good when served but it didn't taste as good as it looked. I have to be a bit more relaxed here as this is Perth and not Shanghai. I would say that as a restaurant here offering these sort of cuisine, it is better than most. My major gripe is actually customer service from one of the staff. She was the cashier tonight and when she came over to our table to check that whatever we have received was what was on the docket, we asked if there was a problem. She didn't say a word and didn't look at us. She looked at the docket and at our table and walked away. Rude is all I can say which is why I gave this place a 2 and a half. I don't like giving a place anything less than 3.5 but I am very particular about customer service as well as the food.
Spicy
Cheap and cheerful. There's often a line outside but it goes pretty fast. Love the panfried veggie dumplings and the beef broth. Definitely a favourite place of ours.
Inauoc2110
Terrible service and tasteless food -- was disappointed as I'd heard good things.<br/>To top it off I received mild food poisoning. I would't recommend eating there.
Zoodle
Delicious dumplings! Each one had a distinctive taste and unlike many dumpling places they don't all taste the same. The real surprise was the pan fried dumplings that come with a sort of thin pancake on top on them (can't remember what they are called on the menu unfortunately). Also recommend the hot and sour soup - perfect for a cold winter's night.
Shane Thorne
It was really nice to find this little gem. <br/>Busy place with yummy food, 100% enjoy it. <br/>People were queuing up outside the restaurant while we were having dinner, that's how you can tell people can always find the great restaurant in the town!!
Anh
Braised beef noodle soup - very delicious. Beef is very tender and melts in your mouth. <br/><br/>Prawn pork wonton noodle soup - soup is quite bland. Wontons were tasty.
宋杨
Good price and definitely best dumpling in town. The staff there are very kind with prompt service. The dumpling are hand made. Highly recommend.
Nicole Tissott
I used Uber Eats with these guys lastnight! Wait was around 40 minutes (which was the initial ETA) and well worth it price AND taste wise. Pork & Prawn Wontons (steamed) with Spice Sauce were amazing and a bargain at $12.50 for 12 pieces. The sauce was mild, enough to get the lips tingly and there was a nice serving of crushed peanuts on top. The chinese broccoli with oyster sauce was a steal at $6 and also super delicious.
Chels Badger
Best place for dumplings In Perth. It's sad that we don't have a dumpling culture in Perth like they do over east but this is the best place for dumplings. It's always packed so make sure to get their early or be willing to wait:
Marc Nardini
Best xiao long Bao in the city. Very authentic as well, delicious kimchi dumplings as well. The ordering process is also very modern and fun.
Katie Shi
I decided to take my parents there after I had good experience at first time. We ordered the crab meat xiao long bao, but the ones they gave us were not. (thanks to my parents to find it out). The first waiter agreed to replace, then the waitress at counter came over and took our food at back. She came back and poke open the food with her nails (paint on her nails) and told us we were wrong. My dad and look into the food and realised the waitress she replaced it at back. Both my parents and I were really angry and lost appetise after seeing waitress touching our food with her nail even though she offered to replace the two she touched with new ones. We decided to leave the restaurant as soon as we can. Not coming back ever again.
Bianca TaTas Maya
Super tasty braised beef noodle soup but please please please wash the Choy sum better. It unfortunately had lots of sand in it.<br/>Apart from that, do try this place.
Riza H
First time I went it was busy with a line on a Saturday. Second time was quieter and services was quick. I like the free tea (self serve ). Dumplings were nice. Good to see they are hand made. iPad ordering system is efficient. 3.7 overall. <br/>
Caroline Swan
I really liked this place from the quirky help yourself to bowls and plates to the ipad menu selection.<br/>We were looking for something light, easy and reasonably priced for a mid week dinner. This hit the spot.<br/>The food is fresh and light the bao were delicious and the star was the chinese brocoli with Oyster sauce. Such a simple dish, this one was more steamed than stir fried so it was not oily or swimming in sauce, the Oyster sauce was salty but balanced well with the earthiness of the Kai Lan. Yum. It's so nice to have eaten your fill and leave satisifed but not over full. For @20 a head.<br/>Our new 'Go to ' for a Tuesday night.

I had read about Authentic Bites Dumpling House in Northbridge, Perth and decided I wanted to give them a go. My thoughts were confirmed when a friend of a friend confirmed it was a great joint. We had to line up outside, maybe ten minutes. As soon as we sat down we out our order in. Pan fried pork buns, pork and prawn chilli wontons, xiao long bao and choy sum in oyster sauce. Had I known it was BYO at the time, I would have definitely taken a bottle in with me too.
Petite Foodie
This restaurant will never goes empty whenever I passed by during lunch or dinner time. Hence, that triggered to give a try on this restaurant. I love their fried dumpling, no doubt, I think delicious-ness of it just on par with “din tai fung”. As well, their steamed dumpling never put us down, it is juicy and flavour. But, for me, the skin of steamed dumpling can be improved a bit , the more thinner, it gonna to be awesome.

This little humble dumpling house has always been a favourite of mine since last year! I've been here more than 10 times, eaten hundreds of dumplings and every single time their food has hit the mark! So what really set Authentic Bites' dumplings apart from the other joints? The fact that everything is hand-made (you can view the process through a window!), the thin-ness of the dumpling skin, the juicy dumpling fillings, the creativity in flavour combinations or all of the above? Guess you gotta pay the place a visit to find out!<br/><br/>Steamed Shanghai pork dumplings: I am obsessed with xiao long bao, I mean I can eat this everyday for the rest of my life and will not get sick of it and it is just so fortunate that I have found the best xiao long bao in Perth here! The skin is so thin and translucent you can see the filling inside. Once you bite into the dumpling the sweet fragrant juice spills out (sometimes all over you), revealing the plump and moist nugget of meat inside. The juice vs meat ratio is just so perfect and the seasoning is just right, there is no way I could ever fault these little pockets of liquid gold! (10/10)<br/><br/>Boiled vegetables dumplings: O M G this gotta be one of my new favourite flavours EVER! I love vegetables but the majority of vegetables dumplings I've had from other places haven't been great. They always managed to make the vegie filling mushy for some reason, but NOT at Authentic Bites! The combination of chives, Chinese cabbage, black fungus and vermicelli was HEAVENLY, I wish I could have had the whole plate to myself! They smelled sooooo good when they arrived and they tasted even better! YUM YUM YUM!!! (10/10)<br/><br/>Steamed kimchi & pork dumplings: ANDDD they did it again! Just when we thought nothing could have topped the vegie dumplings, came out the delicious kimchi & pork dumplings! The spicy crunchy cabbage could not have been more perfect when paired with the mouth-watering pork. The distinctive kimchi also added a pleasant visual effect and we could not have been more pleased! (10/10)<br/><br/>Authentic Bites Dumpling House has never failed to impress me with not only the food quality but also the friendliness of their staff. I could not recommend this place enough for obvious reasons, it's the heart that was put into creating these little nuggets of joy that makes a difference and I always find myself salivating thinking of the next time I would visit again. Can't they just have a loyalty card system already?!?!! 100% would dumpling again, OVER AND OVER AGAIN!

Was a very authentic experience, very happy with the food and service... this place will be a new regular . The xiao long bao was juicy and delicious of there was any criticism it would be that it didnt come with ginger..
Chris
Delicious wonton in chili oil, peanuts and sweet sauce. This is a must for me every time.<br/><br/>Dumplings are all very tasty. Their steamed juicy pork dumplings has a great after taste that I haven't found elsewhere in Perth. <br/><br/>Other favorites are the cucumber salad and the seaweed salad. Delicious and flavoursome. They are pickled just the right amount of time.

Came early at 6 pm and fortunately there was no queue. Pork Xiao long baos were juicy and best eaten hot. The pan fried pork dumplings were really tasty too. Hot and spicy noodles had a strange bitter after taste. Will go back for the dumplings and will try other noodles they have on the menu

Our order went into cyberspace. Free self-service tea, good start. Place order from an Ipad, interesting idea. 30 minutes after ordering no food. Diners who had arrived 15 minutes after us were happily eating.<br/>"we have a problem with our system" - for that read total stuff up. We walked out in disgust, first time ever in a restaurant. If not for the free tea, a zero applies to this place. Not sure what the food was like as we never got any.
KS
A few things: prices creeping up and the dumplings getting smaller, had 8 x juicy dumplings which are so small each and the cost was unreasonable for this. Taste wise ok.

Not a bad place if you're into dumplings. Food is served very quickly and quality is there though I do find that I've had better dumplings at the dim sum restaurants around the area. Good variety is always nice.

Quite impressed of the quality for something that is not fine dining in Perth. Place though small was clean and inviting supplying help yourself water and eating utensils. Staff were relatively pleasant tho a bit slow due to the turn around of clientele not too bad this not such a big deal. I would overlook the slowness as it relates to getting replacement kiddies utensils dropped and food was quite good. Ordered the Xiao Long Bai which had a nice thin skin and none were broken. Flavour was good but the broth was lite and not overly strong, the fact I have with soy sauce and vinegar means it's a no issuer.<br/><br/>The mince pork and noodles was flavoursome as with the noodles soft and silky smoothe with a subtle bite to it. Definately worth a try and a hit with the whole party.<br/><br/>Wonton and noodles was also good but second to the mince pork. Same noodles so that was good. Wontons were ok, not wow like the Hong Kong ones in HK or a little closer stroll, HK BBQ house which I would say probably one of if not the best in Perth.<br/><br/>Chinese broccoli, despite looking quite fresh I won't provide feedback as it is what it is lol.<br/><br/>We are looking at returning for sure as without din Tai fung, where else would you go.

We went here to try the famous dumplings! I was particularly impressed with their efficient service. The best part was you had to make up your entire menu on an iPad that they provide. After that, the staff prints out a receipt and leaves it on your table for the serving staff to tick off every item they bring to your table. The description of every item on menu is brilliant and you won't have any issues communicating with the staff. The only not-so-great part was the food. The chicken soup was too bland and the meat seemed undercooked in parts. I would still recommend this place since I want people to experience their absolutely fantastic service!
Poiter
Great dumplings! The noodles were also very good. As was the friendly and efficient service. Small tables make for a cramped setting, especially if you have kids. Probably not suited to large groups given the small size of the restaurant but perfect spot to soothe your dumpling cravings. Very popular in peak times, so get in early if you dislike queuing.

Jesso
after having attempted to dine here before with a line out the door waiting, i had high expectations and they were met! had the steamed juicy pork dumplings - delish & refreshing, also the pork and prawn dumplings in spice sauce were my favourite of the day! will be returning soon

Been wanting to try this since they opened. Eventually got here, and it's still attracting a decent queue which was a sign that it's not too bad. Of course we ordered their specialities - pan fried dumpling and the steamed pork dumplings (aka xiao long bao) along with the dried minced pork noodles. The noodles were nice, liked the springy noodles. The xiao long bao wasnt too bad, flavour nice and good size. The pan fried dumplings could've done with a bit more frying and the skin was a bit chewy. Decent meal, but not something I wait in line for.

As someone who has lived in China (Hangzhou, Shanghai) I had pretty low expectations. But this place really surprised me and I've gone back about 4 or 5 times since that first visit. The taste is quite authentic and the offerings are close to what you might find in mainland china.<br/><br/>Some tips, avoid the noodles or other things that might fill you up in the place of dumplings...<br/>The xiao long bao (soup dumplings) are very nice, as are the guo tie (pot stickers) which come in a very large serving size. Shui jiao (boiled dumplings) are also tasty!<br/><br/>Side dishes I like - century egg + silken tofu. Reminds me of days in countryside Taiwan. <br/><br/>Be sure not to go at "normal people" meal times if you want to get a place without queuing up for ages!
TC31
Lucky enough to get a table straight away. Quick service and even better food. Highly recommend the pork buns. Tried a few dumplings we have never heard of and they were also great.
Fat Bastard
Very impressed with XLB but pan fried dumplings so so. Base not thick or crispy enough. Tofu with century egg not too bad either. Glad to have found the place.
Vivian LI
Have been there for a while and today when I was in Northbridge seeing the queue ... I think I should make a review. <br/>My friend and I ordered the pork dumpling and the crab one, I think they don't taste that fresh (not exactly this word, but hard to describe in English.. 不鲜) but if you really want to eat this, because of the limited choice in Perth, you can come here. <br/>The braised beef noodles has 10/10 beef and 5/10 noodles which is not 'elastic' at all (this means bad noodles or bad noodles cooking skills for me) <br/><br/>But I recommend the noodles over the dumplings... maybe? Haha
Reynaldo
Not sure what the raving and queuing are about.<br/><br/>The silken tofu and century egg was alright.<br/>The xiao long bao was ordinary,<br/>The pan fried dumpling was bland.<br/><br/>Weirdly the best dish was the braised beef noodle soup.
Foodieperth
OMG simply the best dumplings ever!! We came here on a Monday evening and it was still packed to the brim. We were seated and ordered the pan fried pork buns and pan fried pork dumplings. The pork buns were so good! They were bursting with flavour and were really moist. The dumplings had so much crispy stuff... it was divine.
HLL84
This is currently my latest dumpling haunt! Been here twice and on both occasions the food was great. The dumplings are authentically juicy, and the xiao cai of pickled cucumber and drunken chicken were done just right. Pricing was really fair too.<br/><br/>Tip: For lunch either get there before 1130, or go after 130 to beat the que.
Natalie Rose Reynolds-Borg
Went out with family for dinner. It has a nice atmosphere with lovely waiters but the food was average and kind of tasteless. For most of the stuff you have to add a lot of sweet chilly sauce but you did get a filling serve of twelve dumplings.

Coming home from site there was a sudden craving for dumplings, so my sister’s suggestion to go to Authentic Bites Dumpling House in Northbridge was timely.  This little shop has queues building up early even before the doors open which I found to be very Melbourne-esque where all popular dumpling houses had long queues.  But hey lets skip the queue talk and get inside.
Mr Robot
Roaming Northbridge on a Tuesday night for a bite didn't leave us with many options, however we stumbled across this place a bit before they closed up. The place is quite small, which would explain the long lines often seen during the weekends. Staff were accommodating and showed us to our seats, took and double checked our orders which was a welcomed change. Dumplings were very juicy and steaming hot, the skin having perfect thickness and did not tear upon handling. The beef brisket noodles is a must try, the meat soft and tender with the perfect amount of seasoning, balanced out by the beautiful broth which was full of flavour.  Definitely one to remember!
Mairyn Blainey
Really average. I was hoping Authentic Bites would be amazing but I was disappointed :( <br/>We had pan fried vegetable dumplings (average), pan fried pork buns (kinda disappointing), vegetable dumpling noodle soups, and chicken & prawn dumpling noodle soups. Both dumpling noodle soups were very plain; with the chicken & prawn dumplings quite sponge-like in texture and having a very dominant prawn flavour. If I went back (I doubt it though), I wouldn't be reordering any of the dishes we tried. <br/>I was surprised how busy it was here! We arrived at 6:30 and scored the last free table. Within minutes of our arrival, a queue had amassed on the footpath. <br/>On the plus side, the prices were very reasonable ($48 for three people) and portions were large. Split billing is available however it's even splitting only e.g. $48 for 3 people is $16 each, instead of "I'll pay for the dumplings soup and the pork buns" and so on.
Lynda Thomas
Excellent value for money and very authentic food, the kimchi dumplings were exceptionally good. the noodles are also great. Brilliant place for groups as the portions are big and great for sharing.
Kim
Delicious! Haven't had dumplings this good in ages! Definitely takes my taste buds back to Asia. Reasonably priced dumplings. Service was fast and polite. Definitely will return for more! Yum!
Lyv To Eat
If you've driven past Newcastle Street in Northbridge at night then you would've seen the mile-long queue outside of Authentic Bites Dumpling. We've always wanted to try it, but just couldn't bear the thought of the queue. So, one particularly cold and rainy Monday night, we drove past and saw there was no queue, so I slammed on the brakes, parked and ran inside.
Foodie In Paradise
There is always a massive queue when ever I walked past this place. Came here today early enough to avoid the line, glad the food live up to expectation. <br/>The pork xiao long bao was very tasty and juicy. The braised beef noodle soup was very good too especially the beef was so tender. The hot and sour soup was nice. The pan fried dumpling taste. <br/>Great cheap eat place in northbridge. Very reasonable price and prompt service.
Elssie
Went here on a Saturday night and as expected, a line was out the door but they turn over tables very efficiently so we were in after about 15mins.<br/><br/>The dumplings were nice and variety good. Surprisingly I'd say it was the pan fried ones that were stand outs for me. Delicious and crispy.<br/><br/>The steamed range, while nice and juicy, probably could do with some improvement as their current folding technique results in the dumpling skin being too thick at the top.<br/><br/>I also wasn't impressed by the fact that ginger in my dipping sauce was going to cost me extra given it is essential to eating dumplings. Sadly they ran out of ginger by 730pm on a Saturday which meant I had no choice but to go without anyway.<br/><br/>Overall good dining experience but could do with some improvements.
Perth Foodaholic
I say this every time I write a food blog on dim sum, but I honestly love dumplings. My absolute favourite dim sum or dumpling place is Din Tai Fung. So far, I’ve been to the one in Taiwan (a few of their locations), Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur (multiples times per trip I might add). Unfortunately they do not have one in Perth so I have been on the hunt for awesome dumplings for a while. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
Mysy
The dumplings were yum - especially the chilli spice one - the mixture of sweet and salty really brought out the flavours. And not to mention the peanut toppings on the top! The shanghai juicy pork dumplings were tasty too (with the skin not too thick like other places I've been too) ** warning for those who've never had this before - it's called juicy dumplings because there is slight broth in the dumpling. So, do be careful when biting into them. <br/><br/>Unfortunately the noodles were a disappointment. Got to agree with other reviewers on this. We had the hot and sour noodle soup and the it was nothing close to a hot and sour soup. In fact, it is probably one of the worst hot and sour soup I've ever had - diluted and tasteless with lack of ingredients. Hopefully the collected feedback will get back to the chef/owner and something done with the noodles/soup. Otherwise, just focus on dumplings and remove the noodle option and you'll do well :D
Cassie
There was a line outside when I went on a Sunday for lunch, but it wasn't too long a wait. Tried the spicy pork dumplings, pork xiao long bao, pan fried kimchi dumplings and noodles in hot and sour soup. My favourite was the spicy dumplings, the sauce over the top had combination of sweet, garlic and slight spicy flavours. Xiao long bao was good, kimchi dumplings nice enough but I preferred the other two. Noodles were fresh and had good texture. Average price of each dish was about $10-$12 so good value for money too.
Big Trev™
There are massive lines at this joint. As a Perth native I don't like lining up for anything. Came one night and got hangry in the line so went elsewhere. Next time we came prepared but still had to wait the better part of 30 minutes. Once inside the food was decent and cheap. The pan fried chicken and prawn dumplings were quite thick and without soup inside, but still tasty. Fried wontons were also good. Not sure the line is worth it for the food inside, but intrigued enough to brave it again.
Elaine Jo
we were lucky didn't wait in que, however, this is the slowest place I've ever been to, we've waited 20mins for three baozi...the meal last more than one hour just for four dishes and half of the time was waiting for your dishes. lack of management in the kichen.
LittleGirlBigFood
Who doesnt like dumplings?! Everyone I know loves them as do I. So what is better than cheap dumplings? Im thinking not that much @@. A friend and I lined up, as is the usual thing here, and waited the anticipated fifteen minutes. Its not often I would bother but for these prices it was a no brainer.
Raleigh Monkies
Excellent food every time.<br/>Pan fried dumplings were amazing, and the tofu with century egg. Shanghai dumplings surely tasted authentic! But the soups are hit and miss. Our seaweed soup seriously tasted like boiled water with seaweed. Definitely stick with the dumplings!<br/>
Dough Nut
After driving past many times at peak times (no parking nearby and busy restaurant) we finally stopped and tried it. Lots of energy from the organised, spotless kitchen. <br/>I liked the dishes we tried. The meat dumplings were flavoursome; other dishes relied on condiments to ramp up flavour. <br/>Great to finally see a dumpling restaurant in Perth.
Bottomlesspit
I'm so disappointed. We came back here after waiting for the cue to die down as we thought it must be good if there is a line. Our pork pan fried buns were nice and not too doughy, however, both of our soups were beyond bland they tasted like boiling water with plain noodles. The chow sum wasn't far behind. They're pan fried dumpling looked really tasty, maybe we should have gotten them... The service was friendly though I would not return. We literally had to do a Hungry Jack's run on the way back to get a salty hit :(
Dotty Queen
My girlfriend and I decided to go try this place out since we felt like Asian food.<br/><br/>We ordered the carb and pork xiao long bao, spicy dumpling and a dumpling noodle. The carb and pork xiao long bao hit the spot. <br/><br/>The spicy dumpling and the dumpling noodle soup was just average. <br/><br/>I would return to have the crab and pork xiao long bao. <br/><br/>The spicy dumpling have some sort of sweet sauce on it made it not spicy at all. I wasn’t too impressed with the sweet sauce that they drilzzle on the dish. <br/><br/>The dumpling noodle soup was so blend, it wasn’t salty or spicy in any way that we need to add our own seasoning of soy sauce and chilli to it to add a bit of flavours to it. <br/><br/>I would say the food was mediocre. Only dish I liked was the crab and pork xiao long bao. <br/><br/>I am not too sure would return and try other dishes that they have.

Good God! This place! Small and usually have to queue up, but it's worth it! Dumplings with spicy sauce! The pan fried dumplings and the xiao long bao. Best fumplings in Perth? Hands down. Good God! Good eats!!!
Wee Tong Dustin Sim
Amazing dumplings!! I don't even think you can easily find dumplings this delicious in China. I went there for 3 days in a row after trying it for the first time. I regret nothing.
Matchamadeinheaven
Awesome awesome take away food!!!! Pork dumplings were fresh as anything and tastes like pork crackling left to simmer in the juices of the most delectable tasty broth! Extremely tender and tasted hand made with love. None of that hard flowery texture :) we also got the braised beef with rice. Very good value portion with silverbeet, rice and a great sauce!!! Highly recommend for takeaway. Place was packed at 9pm!! Can't wait to try it dine in :) <br/>
Shawn
Best dumpling house in perth so far! The Xiao Long Bao's doesn't break (good pastry). The fried pork buns are our favourite, followed by the boiled dumplings. Didn't really like the fried dumplings as it was too oily and not crispy enough. But apart from that, excellent.
Asianfoodie
Tried this place after a friend highly recommended it being better than Din Tai Fung. Line was long but the staffs were really quick and efficient, took our orders while we're in line and got it almost immediately when we sat down - which was great! Xiao long Bao and the pan fried dumplings were good. Minced pork noodle was a let down though. Def coming back to try more.<br/><br/>P/S edit: came back for more and tried their steam wonton in spicy sauce, favorite dish out of all. This has become one of my favorite places to come for dumplings. Don't even mind waiting!
Casey
Great place for fresh hand made dumplings. I live down the road and see lines always out the front and can see why now. Its open kitchen window allows you to view into the preparation of the food. Prices are reasonable, but if you're going with a big group get in early or plan to wait because the restaurant is small. Ordered the pork and prawn spicy wontons must try!
The Don
Good quality dumplings that are really cheap. Even the steamed vegetarian dumplings were really nice, lots of flavour and quite big. Had to wait about twenty minutes for a table, so next time I would come earlier.
Philip Rechter Jr.
Been here a couple of times now and this is a must for all you dumpling lovers! The dumplings are fresh, extremely flavoursome and cooked to perfection! Oh and the prices are spot on! Don't let the lines put you off, they generally move very quickly.. And with the lines this place gets you know you're in for a treat!
LittleAsianGirl
Tried this place with a friend today. We came at about 6.30pm and the place was full and there was a queue. We waited about 30 minutes for a table. We ordered the pork xiao long bao, pork and crab xiao long bao, chicken steak and the pork spare ribs and noodle soup. Everything we ordered was delicious. The xiao long bao was so juicy and tasty, the noodles soup was simple and wasn't overloaded with salt, the pork spare ribs that came with the noodle soup was juicy and crispy and flavourful. Definitely coming back for more.
Take Me To Foodie Heaven
New to the Northbridge food scene is Authentic Bites Dumpling House. As the name of the restaurant suggests, Authentic Bites specialises in dumplings and is Perth’s first dumpling house. When we arrived at Authentic Bites before 12pm, there was already a queue ahead but it did not take too long to land a table for us.
Hungerpains
Fairly average food. Very bland flavours. Service is terrible if you can call it service. It's basically self service. Considering all the staff they have on. It's appalling.
Nailsem
This place is great. The pan fried chicken & prawn dumplings and the crispy cucumber salad were are picks but really any of the 5 dishes were great!<br/>Will be back to try some other dishes for sure
Truth Be Told Australia
We have been driving past this restaurant a lot of late and notice the line outside and have always wanted to try it . First thought was it is very clean and spacious inside, staff are very organised too. We had wonton noodle soup, the wonton we're wonderfully fresh as was the noodles but broth was a little disappointing as not much depth ! That was honestly the only downfall for me. The pan fried dumplings were unreal ! Moist , hot and meaty . We will come back here for sure. Presentation and cleanness of this place is 5/5 👍🏻
Foodie_addictee
Came here on early Friday night and we're in luck to beat the queue 15 mins later after we were seated. The waitress seems to seat us in hurry and ask for the order pretty much as soon as she gave us the menu. I can understand due to the popularity of this restaurant. So we kind of rushed our pick without thinking too much. Crab & pork shanghai dumpling, pork & kimchee noodle soup and lastly pan-fried pork dumpling. Food came slower than the service, which means they take time to cook it to perfection. Food came piping hot and it was delighted, especially on a cold night. This is comfort food. Should've come earlier if I knew it'll be this good. The -.5 rating is due to the rushed service which made us feel like we have to get out of the place quicker so they can cater for more customers. Will have to come here during odd hours to avoid this.. 🙁

The waiters don't really speak very good English but we ended up with delightful food!😏 we ended up with juicy dumplings, fried dumpling and marinated cucumber with century egg (century egg is not made with horse dung) surprisingly huge plates that filled us up.you have to wait very long in the queue recommended if u go 10:30-11:00<br/><br/><br/><br/>Coming back again soon<br/><br/><br/>Baby munchkin,

The only place in Perth (so far) where you can get some legit xiao long bao ( soup dumplings ) ☺️ We may not have Din Tai Fung, but we have authentic bites dumpling!!<br/><br/>original and the crab roe dumplings🙌🏻<br/>(Prawn was... Eh 😕) <br/>fried chicken steak and fried pork ribs🙌🏻<br/>Pan fried...
Foodilicious
Came here on a Friday night, line was quite long but it moved quickly. Appreciated the waitresses taking our order whilst we were in the line - efficiency at its best! Meaning we wouldn't have to wait long for food once seated. Overall we loved the dumplings! Crab & pork xiao long baos were the highlight.. So juicy and flavoursome. Spicy pork wantons were great too. Also had the chicken & pork pan fried dumplings which were yum. Only recommendation is if they could offer smaller servings of dumplings as they came in 8 or 12 and I only came with my partner so we would have loved to try more different types. Will definitely be back here to try other dishes! Definitely recommend it!

Here is great xiao long baw seller in Perth. I'm really enjoy it!!! Great value!!!<br/>Always busy and have to wait a bit but I will return again.

I'm not a mean person and don't wanna make a wave. Heard from a kitchen hand who worked for them before. They use unfresh meat and tons of msg, purely not good.<br/>I tried myself. Not good.
BS
Long queues all the time meant we had to give it a try. Traditional Xiaolongbao filling was flavoursome and juicy but let down by a skin that was too thick. Beef noodle soup was good. Chilli dumplings needed to be soaked in a chilli broth as they were to dry otherwise<br/>
.ji.sama
lovely little dumpling joint, we drive by the place on newcastle street every time and there's always a que. finally decided to give it a shot and was not disappointed. plump, juicy dumplings and xiao long baos!! also tried the brisket noodles and fried chicken rice, everything was delicious! service was prompt and friendly too, can't wait to come back for another go.
Lulu's Opinion
Love this little place. Dumplings are yum. The description in English is not very detailed and could do with more explanation. But overall, it was a delicious and economical visit'
Amber McGillicutty
This is our favourite date night place! I cannot get enough of the pan fried dumplings, steamed on one side and crispy on the other, I have burned my tongue many times in my impatience to get them in me!<br/>The kitchen has a window where you can view them being made and the staff are friendly.<br/>Have also had the braised beef which was divine, so tender and the broth was so comforting and tasty.<br/>Free tea on tap and with the food so cheap, you cannot go wrong. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, even if you do have to line up, it's worth the wait.<br/>
Lady Laksa
This place is freaking awesome. Finally xiao long bao in Perth that doesn't break before it gets to my mouth! Great dumplings, also had their beef brisket noodles (perfect comfort food) and cucumber salad. Not sure Din Tai Fung but getting closer. Usually a queue here, be prepared to wait.
Tani
The best Xiao Long Bao in Perth that I've tried. Beef noodle soup was slightly bland, pan fried dumpling was ok. Will definitely be back to try other items. Really value for money!
Asian's Taste
We came here and tried their <br/>Fried spare ribs noodle soup, Xiao Long Bao(pork), and fried dumpling.<br/>Everything was nice and definitely recommend this place to everyone.<br/><br/>Note to the owner: <br/>If you are able to serve the fried spare ribs on separate plate,<br/> it would be perfect (instead in the noodle soup).<br/>The meat become soggy 😉

Last Sunday we made a trip to Authentic Bites Dumpling House on Newcastle St and based on the name you can tell that this restaurant was very confident in declaring the authenticity of their dumpling. We were waiting for about half an hour before they had a table ready for us because there were 7 people in our group. Don't fret because the line moved really quick for a group of 2 or 3 people.<br/><br/>We ordered all three different flavours of XLB, every flavour was really delicious. My favourite is still the original pork meat XLB and the flavour was retained really well inside the dumpling.
Billylamb
This place had a line longer than tuck shop across the road! Rare sight for this part of town. Waited a while for our table but there's menus stuck to the window for you to look at while you wait. I feel the waitresses could work a bit faster at clearing and setting the tables to get customers in faster. Juicy crab and pork xiao long baos were really good. Lots of soup inside the dumpling. Pan fried pork dumplings were also good but the xiao long baos were the star. Bean curd stick salad was refreshing. Would like to try the noodles next time!
Anna
Love the dumplings here but not sure if it has msg. Sometimes I react to msg and I seemed to have a reaction here. The boiled dumplings are nice if you don't want something too oily. Xiao long bao is amazing.
Jason Tay
Best you can get in Perth and as close to dintaifung or the crystals outlets. Fried dumplings, chilli wontons was my favourite. The boiled dumplings wasn't as good as the fried options but still pretty good.
Liv
Delicious dumplings are hard to come by in Perth! Authentic Bites ticked many boxes - amazing xiao long bao, and great panfried dumplings - but the best dish of the night was the steamed pork dumplings that came with spicy sauce and peanut sauce drizzled over the top. Still dreaming about those!
Kekesugarball
The juicy steamed dumplings (xiao long bao) are really authentic, with the fine touch of shredded ginger and Zhengjiang vinegar. Service is quick, but lack of attention to details. However for such reasonable prices, there really isn't much to demand. <br/><br/>One thing to recommend is to order the pork dumplings with ginger. The flavour is guaranteed to be elevated to a new level. <br/><br/>And for those who are eating juicy steamed dumplings for the first time, make sure you do not just bite into the dumpling in your first bite, but rather bite and suckle at the same time. Try drink the juice first if you can manage this skill, like the way locals do.
Sandy
it was ok, was expecting a bit more due to the waiting line out front. The menu is nice and simple. We ordered a few dishes and only one really dissapointed us. The noodle soup was very bland, just like water, adding chilli oil helped. For the price, it's worth the money as it's quite big portions and nice dumplings. The dumplings itself was average. Overall if you want value for money this is a great place to eat, though fair warning if you get the noodle soups it can be pretty bland.
Perth Food Review By SW
Definitely the best xiaolongbaos in Perth and I'm content with these until Din Tai Fung gets here. <br/><br/>The pork soup dumplings (Xiao Long baos 8pcs $11.50) were juicy, flavoursome and overall skin was thin enough though the top part was still a tad too thick and could be improved.<br/><br/>We also ordered the Braised beef noodle soup ($12.50) and the fried pork ribs rice ($12). The braised beef was tender and noodles were tasty, though the soup base was not sweet or flavoursome enough (they need to add more meat!). Fried pork ribs rice came with two slabs of pork ribs, minced pork, braised egg, choy sum and rice. We were satisfied with our meals and will be back for the xiaolongbaos and to try more items.
OnePointFive
Heard good reviews about ABDH, we took PiL here for lunch. Didn't want to wait long, we arrived at 11.40 (they open at 12pm) and some people already queued before us. Pork Xiao Long Bao was juicy and tasty. Steamed Pork Dumplings got generous amount of feeling. Fried Chicken Steak with Rice was super crunchy and huge, also came with Soy Sauce Egg & Choy Sum. Choy Sum with Oyster Sauce, standard. Unfortunately the Vegetable Pan Fried Dumplings was a let down, bland & tasteless. Maybe we should have ordered something else pan fried, next time. Nothing to brag about the service, adequate. I liked the modern interior, simple and clean. I would definitely go back for their Xiao Long Bao!
Queen Of Bad Timing
Inside is small and cosy, with limited seating. Staff move quickly and efficiently, bustling about with steaming plates of dumplings and noodles. I was fascinated to watch the owner behind the glass with her helpers hand forming xiao long bao and pork buns to pan fry. They’re definitely generous with the amount of filling they include – and I was pleased to see that there was more meat than other ingredients which is a rarity quite often.

Authentic Bites Dumplings House might be the answer to my dumpling prayers. Say hello to Perth’s best hand-made xiaolongbao, yay!!<br/> <br/><br/>This no-frills restaurant is only recognisable by the line of savvy dumpling-lovers. Every table was filled with Asians, which is a really good sign. The chef used to work at Din Tai Fung, a super popular chain of xiaolongbao restaurants (including an outlet in Sydney and loads in Hong Kong) and most of the other kitchen staff are also from Taiwan...

Best dumplings in perth for sure. The only place at the moment that does them on the spot and so well. Overshines all other Northbridge dim sum restaurant

Best dumplings I have had in perth!!!

Absolutely tasty fried ribs rice, generous portion as well. The fried pork wonton was absolutely delicious accompanied with the great peanut chili oil sauce. <br/>Definitely coming back. <br/>Down side will be its quite a small place so need to wait awhile to be seated, and it's a bit slow with the servings. Otherwise it's all good.

Have been waiting for a good dumpling place in Perth. Finally!!<br/>Very nice xiao long bao!Thin skin and tasty soup.<br/>Beef noodle soup is so good, beef is so tender and soup is flavoursome.<br/>Even the vegetarian dumpling is tasty. We had to queue for a bit but it's not too long.<br/>Would come back for more...

Dumplings are just juicy flavour bombs. Jot and sour soup was filled with tasty slivers of fungus and bamboo. The noodles are a bit soft for my liking. It's really great value. Short line at the front which cleared by 8pm.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. There was a queue but we only had to wait 5 minutes. Great dumplings, really enjoyed everything we ordered. Staff were friendly and food arrived quickly. Very well priced for good quality food.

Heard about its opening from a foodie friend so I decided to try it out tonight. Arrived at 6.45pm to find a queue in front of the restaurant. However we only had to wait for 15mins so it was alright. <br/>Service: your typical Chinese restaurant service, prompt but not much personal touch. Don't mind it since they get their jobs done.<br/>Food: the braised beef noodle soup was tasty although the the soup was a bit watery, beef was very tender and flavoursome. Xiaolongbao was pretty awesome! We got the pork with minced crab and roe and I'll certainly be back for more of that! Spicy wonton was a tad bit oily, yummy nonetheless. <br/>Keep up the good work!

You can find really good authentic and fresh dumplings here. I really enjoyed all the dishes we order. It's resemble authentic Taiwanese taste. You need to at least order the beef noodle soup and steam dumpling with chilli and beancurb sauce. Both dishes was the highlight.
Everyone's A Critic
Hit the spot - like taiwanese street food!<br/>So satisfying! Came for late lunch and there was a small line at the front. We were seated after less than 10 minutes and put our order in after 5. This is the second time I've been (I went two days in a row) but mainly because I knew the food was good. Arguably the best XLB (Xiao Long Bao) aka soup dumpling place in Perth. Service? Like Asia fast but no frills but it was still friendly.<br/><br/>Food:<br/>Pickled cucumbers salad - Fresh but slightly on the sweet side for me<br/>Double boiled chicken soup - Soooo comforting and reminds me of something my mum does for us a little oily but not enough to fault it!<br/>Xiao Long Bao - Drooollll ... best I've had in Perth and better than some I've had in Asia<br/>Pan fried prawn and chicken - Slightly oilier today than usual but still crispy and delicious<br/>Braised Pork with rice - Simple but satisfying<br/><br/>All eaten after we had a horrible lunch at Hangout on 20 Preston. This place made Sunday all better. <br/><br/>Price: $45<br/><br/>I have already recommended this place to my dear XLB lovers and can see myself coming back often. Hits the spot for Chinese dumplings and the other dishes are good too! <br/><br/>

After reading great reviews from this place, I definitely needed to check it out. I can tell you it didn't disappoint me at all.<br/><br/>I came for lunch with my mum today in this place. I had to wait outside for 15 mins as the place was already packed with people so it's definitely a good sign that this place must be good. Service was very efficient from the waitresses. They handed out menu cards and took down our orders while we were waiting outside. So I was impressed with that. So as soon as we got in, we had our copy of the order with us and didn't have to look through the menu again. So it's a good system they have here.<br/><br/>We ordered the vegetarian dumplings, fried chicken steak on rice and crispy cucumber salad. Everything tasted delicious and mouth lingering. Me and my mum loved the veg dumplings, as soon as you ate it you know it's freshly made and the flavours of the vegetables mashed inside the dumpling tasted divine in my mouth.<br/><br/>The fried chicken steak on rice which I had was my favourite dish. Crumbed and crispy chicken on rice accompanied with choy sum or bakchoy leaves with a boiled egg and some sort of mince all mixed together tasted extremely delicious. The chicken itself was cooked to perfection. The crispy Cucumber salad tasted good but I didn't like the raw garlic taste it had which was rubbed over the cucumbers. I didn't mind it but it needed a sprinkle of lemon juice to balance the flavour and the acidity of the dish. So that was the only fault I detected. Also there is free tea which you can help yourselfs with. It goes down well after having a good meal. There also general condiments on the side which they have and the chilli sesame oil they give with the dumplings is a great match. It goes very well together.<br/><br/>Overall a pleasant eating experience at this place. I would like to see a bigger place so that more people can be accommodated, but hey its in Northbridge so you have to deal with what you get. So can't complain to much. The staff are lovely and I commend the waitresses for doing an excellent job of multi-tasking which consist of dealing with the waiting crowd outside as well as serving customers and cleaning tables quickly to make sure everything goes smoothly and efficiently.<br/><br/>Finally the prices are very decent here and not overpriced at all. It costed me $29 altogether for the three dishes which were all good. So I highly recommend trying this place and I'll definitely be back again to try the pork dumplings and the noodle soup. Looking forward to it then!

Authentic Bites seems to be popular and I can understand why - it's simple, reasonably priced and although it's not a lengthy menu there are some interesting dishes on it.<br/><br/>It's simply furnished and brightly lit and you can watch dumplings being made through a window into the kitchen.  The pickled cucumber was garlicky, spicy and crunchy - delicious.  We shared a generous serve of pork dumplings in spicy sauce and a simple  pork and rice dish with some kai lan.  You can help yourself to tea. <br/><br/>It's perfect for a quick dinner that won't hurt your wallet and will leave you satisfied.

Finally! The best xiao long bao in Perth. Have been on a quest to find one here, since Din Tai Fung is not available here. And though the top of the xlb is still a little thick, and the broth is not as clear as I'd like it to be, it's still the best in Perth... so far! I wouldn't order the fried tofu again though, nothing special.

Another dumpling place opens in Perth ✌🏻️ They don't only serve dumplings though, include some cold dishes too. The dumplings were ok, not as good as home made though 😋 Probably wouldn't rush back. The place is always very full though ! 👣👣👣👣👣👣

We visited during lunch on a Friday - it was quite busy and we were lucky to get a table.<br/><br/>I ordered the Pork Dumplings Noodle Soup. The meal came within 10 minutes of ordering.<br/><br/>The broth was plain, which I think was intentional - adding soy sauce (provided on all tables) improved the flavour tremendously. The six pork dumplings were very tasty. The veggies in the soup were adequate.<br/><br/>The free hot tea was nice too.<br/><br/>Friendly service and excellent décor - very clean and well decorated. <br/><br/>I liked the window where you can see the cooks making the dumplings and other food. <br/><br/>We'll definitely be back.

Unfortunately I have only have been able to have takeaway from this wonderful new addition to Newcastle street. Very authentic Chinese cuisine and not being sure of what exactly each dish consists of (the menu is in Chinese with an English translation but doesn't explain what each dish is) have only tried the pan fried dumplings, pork buns and pork wonton soup to date (sticking to what I know - ignorant Aussie here) all absolutely beautiful dishes that are flavoursome and filling. You can see the food being prepared and cooked through the viewing window into the kitchen which is really interesting. All the staff there are very friendly too. Can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu. Very reasonably priced and will definitely be back soon!

Had a bit of a wait on a friday night and seemed to be bustling and busy throughout the night! <br/><br/>Shared a vary of dumplings and dishes and we were kept full and happy on a chilly night. Winners were the pork dumplings, pan-fried dumplings and the spicy wontons. <br/><br/>The service was attentive and food was served relatively quick as well. Free tea (self-service) is a plus!

I'm fed up with dumplings. But I have to say this dumpling house definitely impressed me with its authentic taste. The crab and pork xiao long bao definitely worth to try! Real crab meat and meaty stuff!

Highly recommend. All dumplings are hand made. It is just the taste of China. The waitress are very nice. Overall great food and great people.

Best dumplings in Perth and very reasonable prices. The chicken noodle soup was superb. My kids who are fussy eaters also enjoyed the dumplings. We will definitely be back.

4.3rating !!<br/>Best siew long pao(steamed dumpling with soup) in Perth so far! <br/>Pickled crispy cucumber is awesome- sweet sour slightly spicy and crunchier than your average chips<br/>Crab and pork siew long pao was awesome I love this dish! The prawn and Luffa siew long pao was amazing too!<br/>We had beef brisket soup noodle(no photo) that was really good as well. <br/>We had pan fried vegetarian dumplings with the crispy skin from the pan. It was yummy!<br/>Sweet spicy soup with pork dumpling was ok - dumplings were great but spicy sour soup was not flavoursome enough.<br/>Fried tofu was yum ! Yam with honey was ok , I liked it but others at the table didn't. The other dishes like vegetable with oyster sauce is ok , nothing to shout about. <br/>Liquor soaked chicken was tasty. chicken soup with noodle was with a plain broth but chicken was fried perfectly and was very juicy.<br/><br/>Prices are very affordable. <br/>I came here twice in two days. So good to have during cold weather!
