Food - amazing!

Sourdough bread is to die for.

Entrees, although a touch small, were presented well and tasted delicious. (Quail and kingfish)

Wonderful to have a proper cacio pepe!! Closest I’ve had to Rome. Carcioncini was sooooooo good!

Mains - the lamb is probably the best I’ve tasted in a long time. Porchetta was also delicious.

Service was a tad disjointed at times but apart from that the kitchen ran so smoothly and our food experience was second to none.

Highly recommend

Have been twice. Good authentic food. Lovely venue. Saw Guy Grossi walk past but he didn’t acknowledge any diners. A nod would’ve been nice. Anyway will return again.

Pasta was very fresh! We love the breakfast buffet here as it’s filled up with Italian delicacies as opposed to intl/american foods

I celebrated my 42nd birthday at Garum.
They had prepared a special Birthday card, handwritten by someone in the team to thank me for choosing Garum for my birthday, which I thought was a nice touch.
The dining room is beautiful. Very high ceiling. It looks like an old church has been converted into this immense dining space. The high ceiling effect made it a little noisy at times.
The waiting staff was great. My waitress acknowledged it was my birthday and thanked me again. She was very knowledgeable about the menu. She was from Argentina, so we discussed her favourite dishes on the menu.
The menu reminded me of being in Rome. Their signature dish is Cacio e Pepe!
I had 1/2 dozen oysters as an entrée. It was served with a dill and shallots vinaigrette which tasted divine. I’m sure they could have taken the peeps out of the lemon... that sort of lack of attention to detail in a fine dining restaurant is a big mistake.
For main, I ordered the rabbit. OMG! That was beautiful. It was served in an olive and onion broth, just like my grandmother would have done it. Fabulous!
For dessert, I treated myself to the Tiramisu. Very nice. Well portioned, fluffy mascarpone, savoiardi soaked in coffee just the right amount. Perfect!
As you can tell, I had a great time.

After being seated by the host we waiting about 15 mins before we asked a waiter walking past to give us a menu. To begin we were given house bread with a lovely oil and spinach dip - a rather different approach to most restaurants. The kingfish crudo was lovey and fresh and perfectly balanced. The carcioncini was nice however I thought lacked a punch of flavour to make you want more and more. The local fish with capers was well cooked and seasoned. The service thankfully picked up with a lovely waiter providing recommendations and good service. All in all a nice dinner but just lacking that wow factor to make me rush back.

Stunning space and beautifully decorated, great atmosphere with very friendly staff.
Had a chaotic feel with staff all running around frantically.
Food was lovely and well presented, maybe a touch over priced. We were left waiting for 20 minutes to receive our drinks.

Walking into Garum you are greeted with a grand, spacious interior with beautiful high ceilings & a feeling that you may have been transported to a restaurant in Melbourne. Friendly staff promptly greeted & seated us and we opted to try their 3 course ‘Love Italy’ menu. Started with the Vitello tonnato entree (ok), followed by Snapper on pearl couscous (delicious), and ending with a chocolate & hazelnut torte (very nice). Hot, house made bread was included as well as a glass of wine and coffee/tea - good value at $49 (do not expect big portions however). Good overall dining experience, will definitely be back to try their a la carte menu.

Garum is a beautiful venue and the staff are incredible.  The evening started off really well with 2 flawless entrees. I highly recommend the Octopus and the Scallop. Unfortunately the evening took a dive when my Carbonara arrived. Perhaps it was a poor ordering choice on my behalf but it was definitely underwhelming and lacked seasoning. To finish we had the semifreddo which I didn't enjoy as much as I did the chocolate mousse which was an accompaniment. Overall I did enjoy my experience and everyone went above and beyond to make my birthday a special one.

Amazing ambience and the freshness within the pasta and the sauces are my highlights. Bit on the pricier side for the portion sizes, but the quality, presentation, service and ambience justify the extra costs.

Whilst the venue is beautiful, the service is amazing, the food is delicious, the part where this Garum doesnt get 5 stars is the portions. While I appreciate that this is a fine dining restraunt I think maube 15-20% more pasta needs to be added in order to not feel insulted when the food arrives. I've been here twice and i was upset the second time with ordering the most expensive pasta which is the crab meat raviolis and only having 5 pieces. My boyfriend ordered this and he is a 95kg man who just seemed really disappointed to recieve such a tiny meal.

The Roman-style cooking here is a nice take on Italian cuisine, and what I particularly like is that they highlight Western Australian produce while keeping true to their recipes and techniques.

Our first shared entree – fresh figs with cured meat and parmesan was a real treat. It’s the simple things in life that can often pack a punch, and I could have happily eaten this all day. Salty, sweet and just a little sour.

It was in good company with the quaglia, which is quail with honey, garum, fennel, currants and pine nuts ($22.00). I’ve had this dish before at Garum, and it really is a must order in my opinion. Cooked perfectly, with the centre of the bird rosy, it was bang full of flavour and had a really satisfying char on the skin.

Garum, Roman fish sauce made by salting and fermenting fish in small clay jugs or vessels, was used commonly throughout ancient Roman cooking. This Roman osteria is a collaboration between Guy Grossi and The Westin Perth, housed in the historic Hibernian Hall in Perth City’s East End. Our menu, delivered by head chef Mario Di Natale, focuses on both these ancient Roman techniques and modern roman classics in a modern and relaxed environment.

During my annual visit to Perth, I discovered that there was a Guy Grossi restaurant and was keen to make a trip to the Perth CBD to try it out. Garum focuses on Roman-style cooking with handmade pasta and ancient Roman techniques. After we were seated, we were asked whether we wanted tap, still or sparkling water, and provided with the menu for the day. Our waitress was happy to explain the menu to us and was very knowledgeable about each dish. It was actually a really tough choice to decide on what to eat!

We decided to go to Garum to celebrate our wedding anniversary (we were staying at the Westin anyway). Initially we were a little disappointed. While the venue is beautiful it is really noisy and the tables are quite close together, as in you can hear the conversation on the next door table. We spotted some better spaced tables over near the bar (which didn't have anyone at it)  and asked to move there. The staff were really obliging and moved us without any fuss at all. Actually, our waitress was fantastic the whole evening. She really knew the menu and was really attentive with filling our water and wine glasses and checking in to see if we wanted anything.   For entrees we shared the crudo kingfish (as in cold cooked) which was really light and we both loved the combination of lemon and dill. It was a small serve though and we both felt it could have been double in size. We then shared the zucchini flowers which were just delightful.  The zucchini was perfectly tender and the stuffing in the flower creamy and luscious with just a hint of maybe white anchovy and herbs.  The size if this entree was much better but I'd still go back for me.  For mains my partner had the lamb shoulder and I had the slow roasted pork which was the special for the night. Both meals were really tender and full of flavour. We kept swapping bites because we couldn't decide which was the best. We ordered sides of rosemary potatoes (loads of garlic and rosemary, nice and crisp on the outside and soft and tender on the inside) and the cos salad (which is literally just cos lettuce with just the right amount of dressing).  For dessert I had the tiramisu which was seriously the lightest, creamiest tiramisu I've ever had the pleasure of eating.  Could have been a little bit heavier on the coffee maybe but I really love my coffee so that is definitely a personal taste thing.  My partner a pear tart which was deliciously light and moist. He chose that mainly because he wanted to try the olive oil ice-cream which didn't even have a hint of olive oil taste (I'm not sure why we expected it would).  Oh, and the complimentary bread came with a really nice herby ricotta spread and olive oil. It was seriously good bread too.  The wine list is really extensive which is good but we found there weren't anywhere near enough affordable choices by the bottle (the prices were $50 and above).  Having said that there was plenty on offer by the glass and the glass prices were pretty much the same as everywhere in Perth. They could expand their selection of dessert wines though to include some chilled varieties.  Overall we really enjoyed our experience at Garum and would head back there again.

Went to Garum on a Saturday night. Very efficient and friendly service by our waiter. We ordered the pickled ox tongue and the octopus for entree.  The most tender octopus I've ever had in Perth and the ox tongue was amazing, melt in your mouth delicious. The pasta mains were very good and the desserts of Tiramisu (the best we've had in Perth) and the poached peach were fantastic.  Great atmosphere and we could see what was being cooked in the very calm open kitchen. Would definitely come back here, although a little pricey but when we get good food in Perth, it's worth it to go back.

We went here for my birthday, I should say that the entrees were amazing , I tried one artisanal soda and the pork, the pork was very greasy and the potato's very dry. My partner got the steak and was amazing , if I return to this place I'll they the beef or the pasta instead. Prices are very high for the food.

Great place fantastic food accompanied by great service.
The only thing thats missing for this type of place are white cloth‘s on the tables.
That would give it the 5th star for me.

Just had an espresso.
I am a espresso lover. This one just has too much acid. Sorry guys. I know the guys in southern Italy like it like this but I just prefer the northern style ;)

Went to Garum for the first time for a family Christmas Eve celebration. Our party numbered 10 and ordered off a set menu that provided 3 options for each course.
Every dish came out in a timely manner and showed a consistent high level of excellence and authenticity. The wine list offered ample choice to complement the fine food.
We were looked after by friendly staff who were very attentive without being pushy and who were very generous with the delicious bread that is made on the premises. The head waitress in particular was very helpful. She had excellent knowledge of the menu and was able to explain the elements of each dish in great detail.
All these aspects combined to provide us all with a fun night and a very enjoyable dining experience. We will definitely be calling in again.

I had not heard great things about Garum.

Slow service, average food and an air of superiority had been conveyed to me when I told people I’d booked.

I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, the setting is beautiful, the food shows some good skill, but the service lacked initiative.

For example, 4 slices of bread for three people. Or not advising us there are two zucchini flowers when 3 of us are sharing.

We also fell into the age old trap of asking for “a couple more minutes” to select our meal... and then struggling to get a waiter for a further ten minutes.

But the reason for our delay is that the menu selection is actually very good. A little bit of culinary knowledge is required to decipher the menu, but the waitress was knowledgeable enough to anticipate and answer our queries.

Good wine list too, although I thought it more cutesy than original to order in according to colour (there is a reason it’s collectively referred to red vs white wine).

Definitely a good corporate lunch venue.

My wife and I and an excellent night here. Beautiful building in an historic part of Perth amongst the Hibernian Place precinct. Service was impeccable. Food was wonderful. All authentic roman cuisine, simple but tasty. No spag bog or pizza here. Excellent drink list with most beer and wine from WA. Dessert and coffee delicious. We'll be back, highly recommended!

Was such a privilege to have dinner at the Garum Voyager Estate collaboration. Greeted with smiles from everyone. Canapes and champagne to start. Absolutely love the cheese arancinis! Everything we had paired well with the wines and they were very accomodating to my food requirements. Love the freshly baked bread they served as appetiser! Definitely coming back for their regular menu!

Beautiful venue and food.
We went on a Sunday night to celebrate our anniversary and staff had kindly written a card for us and was on the table.  The complimentary bread was sooo good we bought a loaf and took it home.  We had the vongole pasta and the pork ragu and both were delicious.
The deserts was also a winner - the panacotta and italian doughnuts.
Would definitely recommend it.

I had to go to that place to find out for myself! A bit posh for my taste and the food concept is a bit different from what I’m usually used to when it comes to Italian food. The food was very good, can’t deny that. However, we were not explained as well as I would have liked to about the food. I was really expecting a good explanation about the food and what to expect since it’s a new restaurant. But we did not get any of that. We ordered polenta and pepperoni as entrees for pepperoni expecting what we know as pepperoni (but it was actually capsicum so we got a bit confused) and for polenta well the usual polenta blocks you normally get. While they were really tasty, we would have liked to be told about it. For the mains, we got the pork ragú pasta and the carbonara. Do not expect to find chunks of any meat in the pasta as you would in any other Italian restaurant. The pasta tastes like pork for instance but there are no pieces of pork in it. Very delicious though. The prosecco was fabulous, too.

Lovely renovated space, high ceilings and modern features which is the new cool of old and new. Had a pleasant lunch and really enjoyed it overall although the service was slow at times as I was in desperate need for drinks to be flowy.
Starters really great, pepperoni (btw which is not meat) was so delicious with the goat cheese and the crunchy bits. Pasta wise you can't go wrong with the Pork ragu. This is the type of pasta that I will have over and over again. Now the Carbonara I was a little "ummmm" about, if you like el dente and salty then this might be your thing.
Great classic negronis and just a comfy old but new space.

Had a beautiful pasta dish with a glass of red. Was a very busy Friday night when we arrived at 9pm. We were seated, but without menus that took around 10 mins to arrive.

Staff were friendly and food was great. I suggest making a booking if you go peak times

Started with the octopus for entree, it was cooked well. The main course was the pasta with clams. Hands down the best pasta I’ve ever had and well worth the price. Then finished with Italian donuts, it was alright. Will come back just for the pasta!

The cacio e pepe pasta I had at Garum was one of the best ones I have tasted. And I am Italian. The pasta was al dente and the sauce very tasty and traditional. A bit too pricey for a pasta dish.
The ambient is beautiful, the kitchen is open but not noisy.
Went back to try to have breakfast, but we were told they do not accept walk-in clients, at least not yet. They should be more clear, about this policy, on their website. I have spotted a long queue of hotel clients waiting to be seated (and I would have not be happy to be one of them, having to wait so long to have breakfast at the hotel I have just spent the night at).

I’m italian and I do recommend this place. Architecture, service and food are amazing! Vongole pasta was delicious, perfect balance of taste. The combination of flavors give to pasta an amazing sea taste even if apparently there is no sauce, that’s how is supposed to be served! Octopus and Tiramisù dishes were a good choice. I will come back!

First, the trail blazing Brookfield Place, a hub of cool eateries and bars arrived in the CBD. Then Perth was positively spoiled with the State Buildings dining precinct. Now, Hibernian Place has opened in the city’s east end. Here, the stunning five star Westin Hotel seems to have sprung up out of nowhere and with it has brought a whole host of trendy restaurants and bars.

Beautiful setting but very intimate with other guests, could hear their conversations more than our own. Food was sensational, a must try! We did get someone else's food at one point and ours kept going to the table next to us; staff probably need to learn the table numbers but cannot fault the food and the lady that took our orders.

We came for dinner on Wednesday evening at 6pm, unfortunately I forgot the waitresses name who took care of us but she was phenomenal, her service was faultless and anything we asked for she rushed off immediately to get for us. We also asked if we could have a sneak peak at the private dining room before we left and she organised it with the manager for us. A really lovely girl and a great worker you have there! Secondly, the food was amazing! Wasn’t a single thing we could fault and we’ll definitely be booking here again for dinner and our private function.
