Review Perugino's - Perth

What an amazing authentic Italian restaurant. The food is fantastic, and you can tell they take pride in their creations with meats cooked moist and tender, flavours perfectly matched and plentiful daily specials dreamt up by the Italian head chef and executed to leave you with a smile. To end a great meal you should also definitely finish off with choices from the daily dessert trolley. Service is so friendly and the family owned business makes all their customers, especially the regulars, feel very welcome.

Very nice dinner here, food was delicious and the service was great! The wine list seemed to go on forever, and large selection of beers from around the world too, so something for everyone. Not cheap but well worth it!

The warm charm of this beautiful restaurant was delightful. Family owned and operated you could feel the love and passion that goes into the dinners experience and the food! The food was absolutely delicious. The service was outstanding; I adored that the chef came out to greet his diners- a true personal surprise you really don't get from restaurants these days. The time the waiter took to explain the menu and create a friendly atmosphere really made us feel like we were part of family visiting for dinner. Highly recommended!

DO NOT GO HERE!! ⚠️⚠️⚠️‼️‼️‼️ Absolutely disgusting service and horrendous food. The elderly woman put us to shame and made us feel discriminated against - also because we were the only people of colour in the restaurant that night. I went with my family for my birthday (I am vegetarian and quite picky), I was delighted to see that the menu had 2 entree's that I could get instead of a main course, however the rude woman became aggravated and condescending when telling me that I must order a main course. There was only 1 vegetarian option for the main courses and I would not have enjoyed it. She proceeded to tell me that its 'what my body wants' which I found absolutely dumbfounding. She also told us that we shouldn't order salad but order vegetables per person instead. My family received 2 small, sliced vegetables each on their plate but supposedly was worth $8 per person. We spent too long in that restaurant, I wish we had left as soon as that nasty woman denied us basic human needs; the food of our choice. Extremely unpleasant, I urge that nobody ever visits that place.

Good friendly staff the food was bit over priced my chicken I had was good the soup was good the dessert was good Would we go back hmmm mite Saturday night starting to fill up

WARNING: The elder lady owner did very well in showing she's disrespectful, rude and pretentious. Even the chicken was not cooked enough, I asked her to cancel this course please because we felt quite disgusting, but she just brought it back to the kitchen for cooking it again, when she served this recooking dish(the chicken was still a little bit frozen) , she said: "why you wanna cancel, it is cooked well now." This is the worst restaurant I had ever been.

As an Italian going to an Italian restaurant, usually I’m very proud by the quality of the food and the high level of service. Needless to say that tonight made me feel embarrassed to be Italian at this restaurant. All that was delivered was below average food, extremely underwhelming service and a disrespectful owner who has the audacity to treat her guests with absolutely zero respect. From start to finish, the experience at Perugino’s has been extremely disappointing and I’ll be making sure to let all my family and friends know to steer clear.

I think the 1 star review can explain itself Just don’t bother 😂😂😂 There are too many incredible places out there with friendly staff & amazing food & this is NOT one of them. Unless you want to be called a liar & questioned about your choice of food requirements from the chef & then asked for suggestions because he doesn’t know what to make (AFTER calling in advance to confirm they can cater to it) DO NOT go here ! Oh also if you like the corner of a plastic container in your pasta then this is the place to go Not usually one to make 1 star reviews but this place should not be open - not one member of staff looked like they wanted to be there, it actually made me feel bad for being there the entire time I just wanted to leave - don’t waste your money

I now will forever take note of the bad reviews of restaurants having dined at Peruginos. Everything negative that customers on all review sites have said is exactly the experience that we had. Yes the food was lovely but mine went down in lumps and we couldn't wait to get our bill and leave. The female owner is beyond rude. Its almost like she wants you to get up and leave. Chastising us for not ordering an entree, refusing to explain the menu, insulting are intelligence. The list went on and on. I can only feel sorry for her husband/chef who is trying to produce beautiful food whilst his wife is doing her best to put a blight on it. The chairs were rigid and hard and the floors and room temperature cold just like the service we received. I would not eat here again even if I was paid too.

Great Italian food! Very good service, everything simply flowed! We will return soon! Thanks for a great evening.

Very slow and rude service. The foods is lower than average and atmosphere of the place is so boring. AVOID !!!!!!

Have been for the lunch special before. It was ok, so took my wife back. Food was good, except the salad, which was something my mum would make in the 80’s. Ice berg lettuce, tomato, carrot, no dressing. $8. Plants died for that disaster....<br/>When ordering the food, I was tossing up between the lamb and rabbit. The old lady ‘serving’ overheard me ask my wife what she would like to try and demanded that she could not sample my meal. Instead, we would have to come back or pay for a degustation. If I’m paying, I can snort the food through my nose and regurgitate it into her mouth, if I so wish. Upon leaving the devil lady greeted us at the door. When inspecting the bill I asked what the ‘misc food’ for $30 was. Immediately she went into a spin saying we didn’t have to pay for the meal if we didn’t want to. That wasn’t the question.<br/>Sadly, we won’t go back because of her. The place has some early 2000’s charm and the young waiters were nice. Total bill was circa $230 for the two of us. We could eat in most other perth restaurants for that price. Next time we will.

The survivor of West Perth fine dining scene. It survives because the food and family-run service is superb. The mother of the restaurant is quirky and charming. Very good dessert trolley. Service could sometimes be a bit faster.

Prepared from the heart by a xhef with passion... A wiz when it comes to degustation meals. Highly recommend. Giuseppe even visited the group a few times to leave that personal touch....

Do NOT go here! The meal was ok (expensive for what it was) but when the bill came, they had added an extra bottle of sparkling water onto our bill. When we questioned it the extremely rude lady accused us of lying! We were very confused by this as the waiter who had served us also accused us of lying, he couldn’t even look at me when I challenged him on this. We were treated with no respect whatsoever, absolutely disgusting service! They also overcharged us for the entrees, as they were more expensive than the mains. Overall a terrible experience and we will not be returning.

Have dined here several times over the years and I have always maintained that it is still a beautiful restaurant to have a special occasion dinner. Walking into the main dining area you are greeted with an atrium style dining room with a glass skylight roof. Waiters are professionally dressed and it’s definitely a silver service, white tablecloth affair. Menu has hardly changed over the years - we started with the puff pastry with mozzarella and black truffle (very delicious), pasta with seafood in a creamy sauce (very good), gamberi aglio (good), and the pan fried fish of the day (cooked well but nothing special overall). Dessert was a selection of pies, cakes and other offerings on a dessert trolley wheeled to the table (which is great if you are indecisive and like to see exactly what you are getting - desserts were all a bit ordinary though). Definitely on the pricey side, but a nice authentic Italian dining experience nonetheless.

We had a large party of 10, fairly average food but it cost $1400. We had to endure the owner having a screaming match in the middle of service with a waiter, his wife didn’t take our order until we’d been waiting for an hour!! But the worst part, one of our party left their glasses case behind, we called the next day and were told it would be waiting for us by the till. When we returned to pick them up, the owners wife refused to look and then accused me of being difficult!! I was asked to leave, no glasses case and felt very embarrassed. I think this could have been a nice night but the owners are very stressed and not suited to service. We won’t be back.

This place is first class. If it isn’t the best Italian restaurant in Perth someone needs to tell me where is. The food is superb, could stand up in Italy. The service is great. The family are nice people, and make me feel at home. The son knows how to make a customer feel welcome. My favourite entrees are the pastries with Mozzarella and Truffle or the Gnocchi, and if you get the chance to try the beef cheek, take it!!!

I think all the complainers who couldn't have pasta for mains should stick to Siena's in Leederville - Perugino is classic Italian dining, done the traditional way.<br/><br/>We loved the duck ravioli and the gnocchi for starters, and our mains of snapper and slow roasted duck were excellent. The quality of the food is fantastic.<br/><br/>The service is also very personal, which I loved. The chef, hostess and wait staff all seemed genuinely interested in making sure their diners had a good experience. When the whiting dish that I had ordered was out, the chef offered to make the same dish with snapper instead, which was lovely.<br/><br/>We really couldn't fault our experience. It's classic dining done very well. If you want a big bowl of pasta for dinner, go somewhere that actually serves that.<br/>

All the Italian classics and more. Very good variety, the flavours are authentic. A bit expensive, but worth it.<br/>Great for functions, as they have separated rooms.

Used to be better. Whilst I understand the passion the lady has for food, it does not excuse her rudeness. Everything was delicious except that both mains were dry and fairly bland. It is a great dining experience but for the price I was a little disappointed. When i was younger it was more memorable.

The food was good, but not as good as other Italian restaurants in the same price range. The venue and setting was lovely. Wait staff were attentive and knowledgeable. One of the waiters mistakenly brought a bottle of wine to my table, which was completely fine, however, the old lady who came to apologize and take our order commented on his "stupidity" to us, in front of him. She then was very abrasive and forceful about explaining the menu and the order in which we MUST have dishes (she flat out refused to serve a pasta dish as part of mains as it was not aligned with her idea of tradition). Overall, the (just satisfactory) food for the price point and the sheer arrogance of the woman who served us made the place feel pretentious and unwelcoming. Bottom of the list for me when it comes to premium Italian restaurants in Perth.

Booked here for my partners birthday, the focus appeared to be more on service than on food. There was a lot of formal wait staff and a quaint restaurant however that’s where it stops. Although the food wasn’t awful the presentation and menu was overpriced and dated. To start we had prawns and pasta. The pasta was dry, for mains we ordered rabbit and fillet steak. The highlight was the selection of dessert although once again pricey. The rabbit was small serve and very dry while the fillet steak was crumbed deep fried ruining the meat. Over all this place is underwhelming and there are are plenty of other Italians in Perth.

I was excited when I walked into Perugino, the settings were amazing with brilliant decors and ambience.  First impression was this place is as Italian as it can be.  Apart from the lady who took our orders, the service was good.  Like others, we received a sales pitch from the lady that one dish was not enough per person and even came back to tell us to order more after we finished.  The others were brilliant, our glasses were always topped up and plates cleared promptly which made the evening pleasant.

The taste wasn't bad , I've had fish it was quite tasty and their desserts were delicious. Service was fast and good but in the end it was a bit pricey. In my option , it doesn't deserve that price , you can Italian taste better there easily in Perth , atmosphere wasn't that good but for Perth it was more than okay.

Could not fault. Amazing service, food and venue. Could not speak highly enough of the wait staff and chef, who all took time out of their evenings to come around to each table for a friendly chat. <br/>Highly recommend. <br/><br/>
Perthian_foodie
Great food - you can't fault that. Beautiful setting. My only other comment would be that be sure to be certain or firm with your decision because if the owner is your waitress, you will have to order what she tells you! I'm sure it was all with good intentions though.

If only I could give this a lower rating than 1/10! <br/>Went there for my birthday and had the worst dining experience in my life due to the old woman taking orders .<br/>   The woman abruptly stopped my father when he asked what a dish was,  <br/>   I was not allowed to share 2 entrees between my partner and I,<br/>   Told I needed to order a main because 1 was not big enough, <br/>   Told my parents that what they ordered would not be enough even though we insisted it would be and  <br/>   then said that we cannot order more later if we didnt order it now,<br/>   When I asked how much one of the specials were, her response was "is money a problem?"<br/>   After that we never got asked if we wanted pepper where every other table did and they took 20 minutes to<br/>   deliver the bill when others got theirs instantly.<br/><br/>Absolute disgraceful service.  PLEASE AVOID! Unless you want to feel like being treated like a naughty 5 year old child, then this is the place for you!

3.9rating<br/>We had a really good night here, making a birthday celebration quite memorable.<br/><br/>We met the very unique chef and maitre'd at the start of the service and were treated like guests in their home. It's been a while since I dined with a table filled with multiple cutleries and impeccably dressed waiters; I was too shy to ask for tap water!!! <br/><br/>We had the banquet menu - courses were determined by the chef. I didn't get to take all the photos so it wasn't just limited to the photos below. We had a lovely white broccoli stem soup, mozzarella wrapped pastry on a bed of truffle cream (my favorite), garlic crunchy prawns, two pasta entree sizes (I was filled with good wine and food by this time), fish and baby goat. While I don't think the savoury food was outstanding (except the pastry with truffle cream), the service was really memorable. Very decadent, over the top and (it's such an odd description) but I felt like I was a rich and important person. Hehe. Savoury courses :3.6rating<br/><br/>And then the freshly baked birthday cake came in and it was so goood!! It tasted close to a tiramisu but we were told sternly that it "is absolutely NOT a tiramisu, it is a traditional Birthday cake!". We just nodded our head in acceptance and asked for second serves.<br/><br/>Then we demanded the dessert trolley be wheeled in and hence my score of 3.9rating - insane desserts! We had poached pear (the best I have had), the lightest cheesecake slice (creamy cloud texture), melon tart (so so), creme caramel (nice), lemon tart (good), and then I think we had two more desserts but my memory just failed from discomfort of a very full belly. Dessert courses :4.2 rating <br/><br/>Four hours of dining! We stumbled out after a bill of $125 each - not the cheapest but certainly a fun and well worth it meal.

So disappointed. <br/>For years Peruginos has been fantastic. Not now. How is it possible to not get an entree in a main size when requested. The elderly lady working there was so rude and inflexible I couldn't believe it. <br/>Portion sizes were really quite poor and when I mentioned this when paying the oversized bill she was rather indifferent, borderline arrogant. <br/>The wheels unfortunately have fallen off<br/><br/>

<br/><br/>I was so excited to come back here after 10 years and have dinner on NYE with my partners family.<br/>When I was younger for my uncles birthday we came here and it was incredible one of those places you never ever forget. <br/>We pre-booked our table and seating was quick once we arrived which was great! <br/>Because it was NYE the menu was set and it was a degustation menu.<br/>All of the food was brilliant the major let down for us however was 100% the service (terrible) and timing between each meal. We arrived at 630pm and didn't leave until 1150pm as each course had a break in between each other of more than 45 minutes! Our second last dish they forgot about and after brining out desert we had to tell them we still didn't receive our final savoury dish and we had to wait even longer for them to take back the desert and make the dish.<br/>So disappointed as I remember the service here being amazing even if it was so long ago! <br/>Would probably not go back as it isn't cheap either

Amazing food - best gnocchi ever! Very fancy. We went here for a birthday dinner and had a wonderful time. It was a very quiet night which was actually quite nice, as it meant it was only us and a couple of other tables. There are a couple of dining areas which makes for a nice, homely ambience, and before our main meals we were treated with a complimentary mushroom dish. I don't usually like mushrooms but this mushroom was seriously WOW. For mains we ordered the gnocchi, chef special, and duck, all of which were lovely. The gnocchi, though, deserves a special mention as it was probably the best I've ever tasted. For desert we all had a bit of everything (VERY YUM - I recommend the grape cake + cream) and overall were delighted with the service we received. Overall, we had a wonderful time and will definitely be returning for our next special occasion!

Got taken here for lunch, when was only expecting to head out for a sandwich. I guess if you are going to break your commitment to eating healthy and losing weight, it might as well be at a place like this. Haven't been for several years, but the food and service is still top class. Topped off some gnocchi and the fish of the day with some limoncello. Unproductive for the rest of the work day!

The good food is more than offset than the shocking manners and unpleasant attitude of the old woman who runs the place. We were also ripped off by being charged $54 for 3 cheese balls that we didn't actually ask for, but were supplied "compliments of the chef".<br/><br/>Attend at your own risk, if you want a very unpleasant evening - worst service in Perth<br/>

I took my partner to this restaurant for our anniversary. The food was very nice but we were constantly interrupted by more than 4 waiters about our food and drinks. It would have made the experience more satisfying if we had one waiter who served us all night to stop confusion. A waiter gave us complimentary veal before our meals came out. Later on some boiled vegetables/ sides were served to us despite not ordering them. We assumed they were complimentary. When paying for the meals we noticed the sides were included on the bill. We told the waiter we didn't order the sides and were removed from the bill before paying. It didn't feel like a mistake but an attempt to obtain more money. CHECK YOUR BILL!!

Been many times and both the food and service have always been excellent. My go-to fine dining Italian. Love it. And the set price lunch menu is great value too.

What a fantastic gem of a restaurant. A warm welcome followed by excellent service, great food and an extensive wine list with Italian and Australian to choose from.

Perugino was the setting for a recent birthday dinner with a few friends. JS has dined at Perugino many times and loves it. We’d read several intriguing comments about how the proprietor of Perugino has upset patrons with her brusque manner, but she was the perfect hostess and our experience was positive from start to finish. We loved the glass domed ceiling which gave the room a feeling of expansiveness, the single stem roses on the tables, and the tall potted leafy plants.

We came to Peruginos with some friends - it was fantastic, family run and friendly warm service. The food was fine dining Italian - and the setting was lovely, the restaurant spans across a number of rooms, making dining feel quite intimate. A great place to eat for a special occasion.
For The Love Of Food
What an Amazing experience! The 3 of us and my bub went during their lunch service on a busy Friday. The service, staff (especially owners) and of course food was lovely and faultless. For s fine dining restaurant I found it child friendly and family orientated. It was not an issue at all. 3 of us We ordered a mix of entree pastas. My bro is s to regular and his recommendations were top notch! Pastas were beautiful. Seasoning, taste and quantity was perfect. Some fine dining restaurants serve that as a main but not here. For the mains were all ordered the capretto! It was amazing. Now with what I've seen at Italian restaurants who serve capretto is that u get primarily bones or the meat is quite chewy. Again, not here. It melted in your mouth and with minimal bone. In fact I didn't et any whilst My bro just got the little shank bone. No complaints there. They even serve a piece of skin on the plate for the skin lovers. Veges were great too and moreish! Oven roasted Potatoes and broccoli and aubergine. Yes they were heavily oiled for my liking but they were again well cooked and tasted great. Dessert trolley was good. A variety of cakes never fails. Wine was enjoyed by e other diners also. Great selection of multicultural wines available. Keep up the good work. Can't wait to return!

An 8 out of 10. First time eating here. A group of four of us sampled a variety of dishes. <br/><br/>Positives: Elegant atmosphere, prompt and courteous seating to a properly set table, attentive service to our table all throughout the evening. Food was well prepared and they accommodated our requests for substitutes. The arincini ball as a starter was nice, but very tiny and almost pointless. The gnocchi was melt-in-your-mouth along with our substituted gorgonzola sauce, which was beautifully rich and creamy but not overly so (wanted to lick the plate but restrained myself). Rib-eye was nicely cooked, generous portion, salads and vegetables were just right. Wine was lovely. Owner stopped and chatted with our group, which was very pleasant. Coffees served well, tasted good. <br/><br/>Negatives: Water server hastily poured water at table, causing a waterfall effect. Vegetables are served by waiters learning old school technique of fork/spoon-in-one-hand-as-tong technique (awkward and ill-effective as he splashed sauce on table nearly hitting our guest's chest, although did apologize nicely); crumbed lamb a disappointment, accompanying figs way too sugary for a main and didn't taste well with the lamb; fig tart for dessert also way too densely sweet, tiramisu spooned out of a lasagna dish clumsily onto a dessert plate and no taste of Marsala wine. Also, no background music so a little awkward trying to not overhear other's conversations. Some elegant, soft playing Italian music or even just classical would suit nicely. <br/><br/>Worth another visit.

Beautiful Night. My partner and I have been wanting to have dinner here for a while now and we finally went last night. The food was gorgeous, particularly the first course special of wild boar pasta and the slow roasted duck with rosemary and saffron sauce from the second course menu. Cheese trolley ... say no more, the gorgonzola was robust and punchy, just what you want. There is also an impressive wine list including some half bottle options which is great. We thought the food was well priced with more mains in the $30s than $40s. Also a very impressive Italian craft beer selection. We had a beautiful night :)

NOTHING COULD MAKE UP FOR THIS!!!!!!. I thought it would be a nice idea to take my dad out for dinner seeing as it was his birthday. We were taken to our seats and we took at least 10 minutes to order. We would have taken maybe 20 if the rude lady didn't take away our menus because it has been way too long! the food was absolutely over priced especially for how much was on the plate. I asked to speak to the owner and she pulled back our seats, while we were sitting on them then, said 'GET UP NOW!' she grabbed our arms and pushed us out the door Definitely not going back ever again. we ended up going to Mcdonald's for his birthday nothing was open.<br/>NOT HAPPY!!!

No food can make up for the woman host. The chef's wife needs an attitude adjustment.<br/>Do not go to this restaurant.

100/10!!! We had the lunch special of three courses for $55! <br/><br/>Delicious duck ragu gnocchi as a starter which was the perfect portion. And the gnocchi wasn't heavy and over bearing like good old Siennas (not that I'm too good for Siennas!) <br/><br/>Roast duck for mains - words cannot describe the perfection that was this dish! The duck literally melted in my mouth and the skin was crispy and delicious <br/><br/> The dessert trolley had gorgeous offerings, I'll try the profiteroles next time I think! <br/><br/>Wait staff were top class, so personable and friendly. The venue itself is so classic and stunning, in a great location<br/><br/>A hidden gem!

Pickyme. Had lunch recently.<br/>Venue and ambience very pleasant (but atrium windows might be cleaned!!!).<br/>Service was excellent. <br/>Food excellent except for one dish of a weird mixture of calamari and other stuff. . <br/>Food prices are very reasonable for such a restaurant. <br/>Excellent wine is offered but only for the very wealthy it seems!!!!

A fine example of an authentic and truly classy Italian restaurant.. Perugino is simply the best Italian restaurant in Perth and perhaps even Australia, In the past few years i'm not even sure i have experienced a restaurant in Italy or anywhere in the South / South East of Europe that provides the classic, classy and truly authentic Italian food, exquisite wine, service and atmosphere that my wife and I have experienced here on numerous occasions.<br/><br/>The Ospitalita Italiana seal recognises those that uphold the country's traditions to a standard that makes them worthy of being ambassadors of the Italian culture, The Italian Government has awarded its prestigious quality seal to very few restaurants outside of Italy and Perugino is one of those restaurants. They consistently meet and exceed the standards, expectations and definition of true fine dining.<br/><br/>If you are seeking to enjoy an elegant evening and wish to dine in true Italian fashion then you need look no further.

EXTREMELY RUDE, TINY portions, RIP-OFF prices. This beautiful looking restaurant is ruined by the rude lady that works there, we paid $50 for the smallest potion of veg I have EVER seen for 6 people, the portions were smaller than starters and cost more than twice an average main. When I questioned the $50 veg, my head was nearly taken clean off! <br/>When I put a piece of bread on my main plate it was snatched from under me and I was advised that that was not how it should be eaten and the vegetarian with us was refused his main dish and given what she wanted. <br/><br/>Totally unacceptable behaviour!
Mystery Diner
Classy. Went there for lunch on a Friday.<br/>Setting: Opened a big door and there was a table on the right - like a "reception" table. We were led into a corridor and then a big bright roundish room with sunken roof. The place is quite classy. <br/>Atmosphere: Formal. Basically white overall with fine cutlery.<br/>Service: Staff were very professional and formal and polite.<br/>Food: We had the 3-course set lunch menu. Entree: Salmone Marinato Al Sedano Bianco<br/>(Fresh Tasmanian Salmon cured with salt and served in a bed of lettuce, olive oil, lemon juice and celery) It was like salmon sashimi on a bed of salad. The salmon was very fresh and I enjoyed it (except I squeezed too much lemon juice into it). Main: Anatra in Porchetta (Domestic duck roasted in the oven with rosemary, bay leaf and garlic) The duck was really nice and moist. Dessert: There was a trolley full of dessert and the waiter came around and explained every single one of them. There were lots of choices like pouched pear, cheesecake, tart, tiramisu etc. It was good to be able to see the dessert before ordering them. I choose the tiramisu and it came with cream (you can request not to have the cream) and it was good!<br/>Price: I think it is quite reasonable for the quality and service that you get. <br/>Overall: Really like this place, you get treated like a valued customer and the atmosphere will be perfect for a business meeting or a romantic date.

Hostess lets it down. Went here a few months back. I prefer vegetarian but will eat prawns. Nothing on mains for that. Asked the hostess if I could pay double for a main size veggie risotto for my main. She refused and just said "no, take something else". She wouldn't busge in that and got angry. I didn't want the fish on the mains. So asked if I could just have the starter of deep fried prawns/fish in light batter as the main, and pay double for a main size. She kindly allowed me to do that. But I wanted the rissotto. No chips, or potatoes can be ordered, so it wasn't an adequate meal. So I had the starter rissotto followed by the main as prawns. When I wanted the prawns as a starter and the risotto as a main. My husband thought she was very rude to me in her tone of voice. He said he will never go back there again and he hasn't budged on that. If you like meat and fish and not a veggie I think the food looks good. Stay away if you are a veggie, you are left in no doubt you will not be accommodated. It's a shame as they are pushing out a market of people would eat there.

The food is some of the best I've ever had in Perth... But I'm not sure it's enough to outweigh the service which is a real shame. It's a beautiful, small and romantic restaurant with divine food. <br/><br/>Perugino is a high-class restaurant, it's not going to cost $20 for a main....... If you don't want to pay decent money, maybe you'd feel more comfortable at Pizza Hut or Sizzlers because dinner here will definitely cost you over $100 for two. (But well worth it if you want authentic Italian for dinner)

Worst hostess EVER!. Oh my goodness, I'm so very glad to have read these comments about the hostess (chefs wife). I thought maybe I was the only one?! We visited this place 2yrs ago for my birthday & will never return. The food was fab but it was actually not my first choice - as the cow wouldn't allow me to order what I wanted to order! i wanted to order a pasta as an entree & a risotto as my main but she told me "You can't have carbohydrates after carbohydrates" in the bitchiest tone ever. She was horrible for the rest of the evening & I just wish we left earlier. Never again!

This isn't the best Italian resturant in perth!. Seven of our friends went for a birthday dinner.Upon being seated and looking at the maze of wine glasses on the table, we then had to wait almost 15 minutes to even. jget some water let alone order any drinks. After finally getting the waiters attention we got water and ordered wine.Overall I thought the food was only average, the wine list extensive and expensive and probably the only highlight was the colourful character who charmed us with the desert trolley, I wouldn't bother going again.
Chenyilim_xoxo
Don't go here- WORST customer service + average food. I went with my girl friends and we had wanted pasta as mains so we could have room for dessert.<br/>The rude grey haired lady owner stood there for about 10 minutes or more, heavily insisting that pasta was an entree on the menu and would not be enough. We said that if we were still hungry like she said we would then we could order more. She objected.<br/>She was judging us as if we did not have enough money to afford it. The look she gave us and her behaviour was utterly despicable, I can't even describe it accurately. <br/>She kept shaking her head and was extremely impatient with us, speaking to us in a very rude manner. It was to the extent that other tables in the small space in the restaurant had turned to look at what was going on. It was very humiliating.<br/>Food is very average and in small portions for the cost.<br/>Will NEVER come back again.<br/>Do not make the mistake I did, you will regret it.

Business Lunch. Great value. I had a business lunch with a couple of mates and it was excellent. <br/>The lunch menu was good value at about $50 for 3 courses..<br/>Excellent service from Francesco?, who we found out later was the son of the owner / chef..<br/>Wine prices are about right for this class of restaurant. Did not see and any female staff but a lady took my phone booking the day before and she was very charming. Restaurant was 75% full and we had terrific service from all wait staff .<br/> Would go back in a blink !

Expensive with average food quality and very small portions.Terrible. Meals are ridiculously small, and very average. Definitely not gourmet. Meals are ridiculously expensive and each portion ridiculously small. Which would be OK if the mouthfuls were delicious but alas no.<br/>Aside from the fact that they told me on the phone they would cater to food allergies and then when we get there they say no we cant (very rudely) then, when I say that I was told they have do cater for allergies, I'm rudely told Oh I suppose we can do something. The Maitre d' was rude and unhelpful.<br/>All our coffees were all froth, and I do mean all froth. Dad ordered a flat white. when has that ever been all froth. Of course we sent it back and got another one.<br/>What a spoiler for my Dads 70th birthday.

Overwhelmingly abysmal. It all started out well with a pleasant welcome but slowly deteriated to a quite average and distasteful experience. My partner and I stopped by for a light dinner, and when it became apparent that we would not be ordering mains, were quickly shafted by the waiters for even the simplest of requests. This was no busy period, but apparently providing butter with the bread after 20 minutes is too much to handle.<br/><br/>After providing us with the wrong wine selection, and another 30 minute wait for the first course, we also noticed that the online menu was around 20% cheaper than the in-house prices. Not a deciding factor, but something which is so simple to get right. <br/><br/>The hostess was particularly hostile to us after we confirmed we would not be ordering mains, and did not utter a word when taking our order or even upon paying the bill. Absolutely shocking display of snobbery and an obvious discrimination because we were not spending handfuls of money on what looked like uninspired recycled rubber mixed with a bit of pasta. <br/><br/>A lack of care was shown to us throughout the experience, and to receive the bill charging us $8 for mineral water we didn't order was the final straw - will not be returning.

Truly horrible woman running this restaurant - never been so insulted and embarrassed!. My partner and I wanted a nice italian meal for a birthday treat, so after googling italian restaurants in Perth, Perugino came up. In a hurry, I just looked at the overall rating, saw of photo of the restaurant and thought "It must be nice." Very foolish!!! <br/><br/>We arrived and ordered our drinks and started to look through the menu. I asked a waiter if I was interpreting the menu correctly - there were no pasta dishes on the main menu. You could only order pasta to start and the second course options were full of rabbit, veal, duck, beef cheek etc.<br/><br/>After pondering over the menu for about 10minutes, a grey haired woman who appeared to be the boss (I'm assuming owner) came to take our order. I asked if it was possible to have pasta as a main and she said no. Then I said "Oh ok, I'm not sure what I want then as we were both really set on pasta, but let me quickly choose something else.” <br/><br/>She immediately started to lecture me about how stupid it was to think that pasta was a main. That it was “like having an anaesthetic after an operation.” When I explained that I wasn’t taking objection to their style of menu, she continued to get more and more angry, telling us that she didn’t understand why we couldn’t just simply pick something else. Then, the best bit is that out of nowhere she just said “leave now. Just get out.”<br/><br/>My jaw near hit the ground. I was totally speechless. <br/><br/>At no stage were we being rude. All we did was mention that we had initially planned to have a pasta dish. Even when she was having a go at me, I still was trying to be nice. I wish I hadn’t bothered. I’ve never been spoken to like that in my life and if that’s her idea of customer service, she doesn’t deserve the business.<br/><br/>As we walked out, she followed us saying “Where are you going to go now” adding that she couldn’t understand why we couldn’t just adopt to her menu. Apparently people need to learn to how to “appreciate” her menu. <br/><br/>Once again, in disbelief, I didn’t manage to say much other than the fact that we’ll never set foot over that restaurant door again!!

A most dissappointing experience. A very rude and unfriendly lady co-owner, very poor service, dishes were sub-standard compared to previous experience, a pub meal would have been better, abysmal portion of crème caramel, ice cold bread as if it had just been defrosted. AND we are of Italian decent so we know what to expect especially for paying almost $350 for 3 people. Maybe it's time for the owners to retire. We will most definitely NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. A disgrace to the Italian cuisine and the hospitality industry.

No compliants. After reading all the reviews I'm a bit shocked, as we had a lovely evening on the night of my birthday last Thursday. when we arrived we were seated quickly, although with no menus, but didn't take long till one of the other waiters noticed this and handed us the menus and we ordered sparkling water. we went thru the menu with lots of umms and ooohs and yums! then we were greeted by an older lady assuming the one that a few of the reviews are talking about, she was very lovely to us, weather she has seen the reviews and has had an attitude adjustment, I'm not sure, but she was helpful too.<br/><br/> so we ordered our entrees, myself the crumbed garlic prawns, and my partner some chicken and veal pasta dish, then we ordered our mains, which we both ordered the same being the crumbed beef fillet, she was a bit concerned that I would not like it because the meat comes out med-rare and a bit bloody, to me, that's great, I love my steak to be like that, then she was concerned that the crumbed beef fillet would be to heavy because my partner was having the pasta and I the crumbed garlic prawns, and suggested we get the shared dish of the beef fillet cooked in rosemary and olive oil, more plain but traditional, and to be honest I actually do like my steak plain, so we agreed on that, and to me I found that very helpful of her.<br/><br/> We didn't have to wait for our entrees for long, but I loved the prawns, my partner isn't a fan of them but he really enjoyed it too, they were melt in your mouth delish! our main was great too, I cant fault it, they cooked a beautiful piece of meat perfectly. I wanted more! dessert was the traditional "cakes on a trolley' and all hand made. <br/>The lil old lady was great, its such a shame that all the past recent reviewers had a bad experience. I love my food and I am picky with it too, and I couldn't fault anything with our meal. the meat itself was far better then a top end restaurant that we have eaten at twice at the crown that everyone raves about, meh! anyway so from experience, try it for yourself, don't be turned off by a few bad reviews, as from I have learnt, no one leaves good reviews anymore and when they do have a bad experience they will tell the world about it.

Terrible service from lady owner. By far the rudest women we have met. Telling us we can't order what we want and not giving my husband a side dish of what he wanted because apparently 7 year olds ask for that only! Bring him broccoli and carrots instead??!! when he asked were his mash was she Answered get over it! What happened to trying to do the right thing by customers! Will never go back and will make sure no one i knows returns either! Get her out of there she's ruining the place!!!!

Unfortunately our experience was ruined by the extreme rudeness of the old lady who took our payment. I imagine she is the manager of the restaurant. When we went to pay she ignored us for a few minutes before putting our receipt in front of my husband. He asked her why we were charged $8 for tap water and an argument ensued over the fact the waiters apparently gave us still water instead of tap. She was extremely rude and we will never go back. The food was great, but not outstanding, the waiters were fantastic and the device from them outstanding. A shame one person ruined our whole experience, and to me a real scam yo get extra money out of people as she just blames lack of communication and understanding on the customers part due to the fact everyone there speaks with a very heavy accent. Very sneaky

Awful restaurant, won't be returning. We finally got around to going to Perugino's on Valentine's Day this year after they were closed for Christmas when we wanted to go for our anniversary in January (I'm really puzzled in general about this weird thing restaurants have for closing over what one would think are peak holiday periods that people like to dine out). Let me be straight to the point now when I say NEVER AGAIN. <br/><br/>I don't enjoy paying so much for what could at best be called highly average Italian and to sit in a stylistically tired looking restaurant with ZERO ambience (seriously how hard is it to put the tiniest bit of space between tables and put on some background music so diners can actually talk quietly between themselves without every word being heard by the entire restaurant?). <br/><br/>As we were dining for Valentine's Day there was a set menu and even then when everything could be pre-prepared for the number of expected parties the service was painfully slow and the seven TINY courses took THREE HOURS to serve; we were starving when we'd had no more than half a dozen mouthfuls of food by close to 9pm. <br/><br/>Worst of all though was the incredibly rude and overbearing wife of the owner who flat out refused to omit mushrooms from my dish unless I was allergic despite the fact that she admitted they COULD be left out but said I shouldn't be fussy and should eat them because she thought it was better with them (I detest mushrooms and don't eat them in any form and certainly didn't start miraculously enjoying them on this night either). Then when one of the desserts was sent back half finished (because frankly it wasn't that nice and by that stage we were fairly fed up and keen to leave) and she sent it back to the table and tried to force us to eat the rest. <br/><br/>I've never had such appalling service while paying such a premium for the "privilege"; one of the worst restaurants I've been to.
Jules
This was the worst birthday party ever! The birthday cake no one ordered cost $230 and we had to suc that up! The gnocchi was awful and would have been better used to glue wall tiles! Frozen scallops! And a rack of cat! It was awful! $44 for two champagnes and could get butter for the bread thrown at us... Mbe if we begged and crawled over broken glass. Vegetable plate was $68! DONT DO IT! Friends left before the main and paid for taxi's for a really rotten expensive night out- TERRIBLE!
Smiths Review
Great Service Authentic Food. The crumbed steak on a mushroom base was delicious, my partner had the salmon. We had our 19 month old very energetic, loud and inquisitive daughter with us and in true italian fashion the wait staff were fine and would often stop and talk to and entertain her. The fellow diners were great too (or so we hope). <br/>The experience was great and we would highly recommend this restaurant.

Great Italian food. We came for my mother-in-law's birthday and had a great time at this cosy restaurant hidden in West Perth. The food was done in the classic Italian style (no pasta mains here). The only complaint was the wait between courses, but as there were six of us and the place was packed, it was to be expected.<br/><br/>Of course, songs can be written about the dessert trolley. Try the Creme Caramel or Tiramisu, it is truly fantastic!

My wife is vegetarian and we just had a great experience at Perugino. We have a sick baby at PMH and only had a short time for lunch. They made every effort to accommodate us. When we mentioned vegetarian they were very happy to alter the menu and offer suitable alternatives. The food was delicious and the service was excellent.

WORST Humiliation Ever for the Family. Based on the reviews on Trip Adviser I decided to take my wife on her birthday on 17 Oct 2013 to dinner at Perugino with my two teenage daughters. My wife is a vegetarian. <br/>We were very warmly greeted by a young waitress and seated. The ambiance was nice though atmosphere a bit formal and stiff. We browsed through the menu only to find that the choices for vegetarians were extremely limited.<br/>The elderly lady who we later discovered happens to be wife of the Chef and the owner Giuseppe came to take our orders. She was supercilious right from the word go. Of very limited vegetarian choices nothing could really interest my wife and we were taking some time. The lady suddenly snapped and shut the menu on my wife’s face saying that vegetarians should be flexible and we should in fact have gone to a vegetarian restaurant rather than coming to an Italian restaurant. We could not believe what we just heard and decided to leave. I politely asked her why she was being so rude with us.<br/>She escorted our family to the door and we could not have in wildest dream imagined what happened next. She stood in the lobby and pointed her hand towards the door saying “Now I am being rude-OUT”, repeating it twice. <br/>All of us went numb with feeling of shock mixed with rage not able to believe this was actually happening to us that too in a restaurant that prides itself on being a premium Italian restaurant.<br/>We walked out of the door still not able to fully comprehend the reason for this complete humiliation. Outside the restaurant we were speechless for minutes trying to make sense of what we just went through. <br/>We went to another restaurant where we were treated with warmth and respect that is due to guests and had very fulfilling meal. However despite trying hard we were not able to get over the sheer humiliation we had faced.<br/>We decided to go back to the restaurant to see the owner and seek an apology from the lady. We left our daughters in the car as they were badly shaken by the experience. <br/>We met Giuseppe the owner who heard us very patiently and appeared anguished but completely helpless in asking her overbearing wife to apologise to guests whom she had so badly humiliated as if they were a bunch of beggars. We asked him what we did to deserve such humiliation and crass behavior but he had no answer. <br/>This to date has been the worst ever experience that we as a family have ever faced in our lives that too on the special day of my wife’s birthday.<br/>If it happened with us it could happen with anyone. If you are a self-respecting person you shall STAY AWAY from Perugino.
Out And About
Simply amazing service from the very moment we stepped in - truly commendable staff who made us feel very special. Food was great and Perugino's 26-page wine list was impressive. We were well and truly full when the desert cart came around but we just could not resist the mouth watering delicacies of sorts that were staring back at us from the cart. We know that we will return to this place time and time again in the future. Well done Perugino!

Did not match expectations.. Our son took us to perugino's 2 weeks ago, very disappointing, first course creamy filling with truffles, flavour to die for, but my pastry was way undercooked only a little over an inch onn one end had started to brown the rest was undercooked, I didn't mind the prawn dish but son said his prawns were tough( I am not a lover of prawns so to me they were just prawns) none of the other dishes would have sent me into raptures the pasta dish was a no no,and the beef cheek tasted good but was very very inconsistant in the servings, grandsons piece was so small it was literally one mouthful, same with grand daughters partner, grand daughter and I the only two ladies at the table got the biggest portions. The Chef needs to watch Master Chef to see how servings need to be served ,all the same size.<br/>Would not star this restaurant very high, I have been to much better restaurants for a fraction of the price.

Lucy g. In italy people dont cry about eating pasta. Most italian food has flour. If you cant accept this then stick to eating overpriced rice crackers and keep your 21st century made up diseases aka psychological disorders st home

Bit over prized. We were 4 friends who went for the dinner , ordered few different things , food was not extra ordinary but no complaints , but too over prized and the portions were small

Fabulous Function. Having a post-elopement wedding dinner was a challenge, and we initially picked Perugino as it was one of the few restaurants with a private dining room that would seat 30. But WOW!!<br/><br/>The 7-course-menu (plus croqembouche 'wedding cake') tailored by owner-chef Giuseppe was INCREDIBLE. Every guest commented on how much they loved it. Of note, the vegetarian at the table called the next day to re-iterate his satisfaction, being used to being an after thought on a set menu, he enjoyed each and every course that was presented (as did our gluten free contingent).<br/><br/>The room was lovely, the staff and service was excellent from booking, to choosing the menu, to the end of the night, and the bride was presented a bouquet in a personal, thoughtful touch.<br/><br/>The puff pastry filled with mozzarella and black truffle might be my favourite dish, ever. Next time, I'll be happy with 7 of those!<br/><br/>Thank you for making our celebration so wonderful :-)

First visit. We had dinner at Perugino on 13 July.<br/>I had heard people extol the virtues of this restaurant for some time.<br/>Have to say I was bitterly disappointed. I found the service fawning and over familiar with a bossy maitre de who had too much say in peoples' choice of menu item. I felt sure she was selling off particular food. The vegetables accompanying the food were just small pieces of a variety of steamed vegetables which had no relationship to the meat. The crumbed lamb rack rather than rare was raw.<br/>Chocolate tart was bland and poorly made and oddly topped with random pinenuts.<br/>Costing $800 I think this meal was very disappointing and I have no idea what other people mean when they say the food is good.

Very Let Down. We were excited to finally dine at Perugino's and went on a weekend night for my birthday. I really don't know what the food was like because two hours into our visit, we still did not have the mains that we had ordered. The service left much to be desired, with no waiter assigned to our table, so we had to wave people down as they scurried by. One person for water, one person for wine, one person to take the order, and yet another to serve what little food we got. We obviously were not a priority. The table of 18 in the adjoining room was! We felt very let down, as we had heard such great things about Perugino's. All smoke and no fire.
Masterchef
Excellent authentic Italian fare, all dishes were very yummy but my favourite was the homemade spaghetti & delectable homemade desserts! Small morsels somewhat deceiving to the eye, as we struggled through the last few courses. <br/>Hats off to the owner/chef!!!!!! The hostess was somewhat rude actually but overall the lovely Italian waiters, fine food & company drowned out her unusual sense of humour :)<br/>Would most definitely return!
Kenny
Why?. Why does the chef have to come out of the kitchen to 'educate' you that Italians don't eat pasta as a main meal and that it is an entree only. <br/>And then, despite your polite assertions that you would like pasta as a main and not an entree, why would he refuse to meet a customers simple request? Why is this place still running, when so many people like me have put a line through it, never to return?

Restaurant with the worst service in perth

I went here for a Friday night catch up with a friend. We were seated in the bar area with a couple of g&t's to start, then shown to our table for a fabulous dinner. Service was great, food was so delicious, the dessert trolley was to die for. Price wasn't too bad for a 3 course meal with wine and coffee, will be going back again. Service and atmosphere were lovely.

Very good food and wine, lovely decor, well located, professional waiters, should be a favourite. But no.<br/>Too hard to accept the rude arrogance of the woman who runs it.
Yum
Interesting but delicious set menu. I came here for dinner with my boyfriend for a delayed Valentine's Day meal and we really loved it. We ordered the 5 course set menu which is a secret menu that the chef prepares on the night. Somehow we ended up with 7 courses plus dessert and bread, so it was very good value but we were both completely stuffed by the time the unexpected 6th and 7th courses came out. We both absolutely loved the two pasta dishes (gnocchi ragu and pumpkin tortellini), the two fish courses and the baby goat course. My only fault was that I had asked for no seafood apart from fish, so while my boyfriend got some garlic prawns, I was given a plate of plain asparagus with a tiny side salad, which I thought was unfair, and not a dish that should be served in a fine dining restaurant such as this. But the service was amazing, and the gnocchi ragu was one of the best dishes I've ever had. My boyfriend loved every single course he had. We would definitely like to return here!

Pretty average. Not as good as we expected for a pretty pricy restaurant.<br/>Service was extremely slow and never friendly as the waiters seemed very rushed. We sat down at 7.30 and left at 10.40 despite only having starters and mains, no dessert or coffee. We had to keep asking the waiters to fill up our water glasses as there was no jug on the table.<br/>Starters were good, nicely presented and tasty. <br/>Mains were average - the lady owner said the eye fillet flamed in brandy (chateaubriande) was absolutely fabulous and couldn't recommend it highly enough but the 2 who had it said it was quite good but nothing more. The duck was a bit overlooked and dry. The veal was very good, tender and tasty.<br/>3 of us ordered vegetables but the waiter just served all the vegetables without asking and ran out after serving 4 people. I said "where are my vegetables?" And he replied only 3 had ordered! So another serve of vegetables had to be cooked and I was near the end of the veal when they arrived. I would recommend putting the vegetables on the table so we can serve ourselves, likewise a water jug.<br/>We are unlikely to go back.
Love Eating Out
Beautiful evening out. Friends of ours spoilt us by taking us to Perugino for a five course dinner.<br/>The restaurant and decor is beautiful.<br/>The waiters were very attentive, but not too overbearing.<br/>We enjoyed 5 different courses chosen by the chef and they were all delicious. The servings were not huge, but just the right size to ensure we could make it through all courses.<br/>Our favourite was the first course. Very simple Puff pastry with cheese and truffle cream sauce - absolutely delicious.<br/>We then had a choice from the dessert trolley. The creme caramel and the poached pears were outstanding.<br/>Overall 9.5 out of 10.
Wino
Fabulous food matched by an impressive wine list and prompt service! Hard to pick a favorite dish for the evening out of the meals the four of us ate. The nights specials of stuffed artichoke and the lobster ravioli were highlights.
Lucyg
Worst restuarant experience in my life. Interestingly my previous review has been removed!! I have coeliac disease and to cut a long story short even though we checked the restaurant could deal with this before we booked when we arrived the waitress ( and also owner) was so offended by my request we were treated like criminals to the point that when we complained about this treatment ( in calm, polite voices) the waitress threw us out and threatened to call the police!! <br/>this restaurant has no interest in providing a service to customers, I can not imagine how they managed to receive the accolades they have in the past. Usually I can eat risotto in a good restaurant but I was informed on this night that the risotto was thickened with FLOUR, And this is supposed to be Perth's premier Italian Restaurant!!! I don't think so.
Rob
DISGUSTED!!!!!!!. I have never written a review before but our treatment was so appalling I cant even put it all in words. We went to this restaurant a few nights ago with a group of friends. The service on walking through the door was lovely but that soon changed when it was time take our order. We were told in an extremely stern and rude manner like we were 5 yr olds that we were not allowed to get a variety of entrees and share between us. The lady (soon to find out that she is the chefs wife) persuaded us in a forceful manner to getting the degustation menu and that we could pick and choose what we wanted. On allowing us to do this we decided to go with this option and told her the selections that we would like in this degustation sitting. After the third sitting came out we still had not eaten anything that we had requested. I then questioned the lady as to why and she out rightly denied that that was not the case and we were to eat whatever the chef cooked for us. She then walked off in middle of conversation later returning with the chef. On relaying this to the chef he politely said no problem. The lady then returns to finish her augment with us and then turning to one of our guests telling her that her husband is pissing her off!!!!!! On leaving I noticed that at the beginning of the night the lady only took my jacket from my chair to hang up. When it was returned to me at my table the waiter held it up so that I could put it straight on so that I wouldn't notice the terrible STAINED FOOD ALL OVER THE BACK OF MY JACKET until I got home! Obviously this deceitful, rude lady along with some of her staff has NO RESPECT for anyone. I will NOT be returning and would NOT recommend u don't put yourself through an unpleasant evening!!!!!!!!!
Vh
No respect!. We went to Perugino's for a lovely relaxing weekday lunch and I'm sorry to say that the server's behaviour and attitude was disgusting. Unfortunately for me, I apparently ordered food in the "wrong order", food that she (the server) considered too heavy, and in an order that is "disrespectful to the chef". She promptly snapped "No" when I made my request for my main, and said "you people come in here thinking you know what you are talking about and you have no idea".....well let me say this to you in response....you made me feel humiliated and treated me with absolutely no respect. If you don't know how to respect a customer's wishes when they are frequenting your restaurant and let them eat the food that they choose to, perhaps YOU shouldn't be there!
Dora
Food was great.....shame about the rest. With Perugino being highly recommended I came with great expectations.<br/><br/>There wasn't enough menus at an 8pm sitting, really??<br/>The restaurant was so loud I couldn't hear the waiter even though he was leaning in to shout the specials at us<br/>Service was ok <br/>Food was great but marred by the atmosphere
Andrew
Fantastico!. Came here with people from work. Very welcoming. Chef suggested a tasting plate of several entrees which proved to be outstanding. My main, Filetto In Crosta, which is Eye fillet of beef, double crumbed, pan fried medium rare, and served with porcini mushrooms was delicious. The service was impeccable and the general atmosphere and surroundings were very pleasant. Thanks for a great night.

This place is pretty special. You know you are going somewhere fancy when you have four different types of glasses in front of you and seven different types of cutlery! Had a seven course degustation and each course was tasty and fresh. Highlight of the night was the gnocchi with mushrooms that just burst with flavour and the gnocchi was so smooth it melted in your mouth. The main dish of beef was well cooked but perhaps lacked wow factor. The semifreddo dessert served with fresh mango coulis, semifreddo and vanilla cream was amazing. I was so full by this point, but just had to finish this dessert! Overall definitely an amazing fine dining experience.

Their food is exquisite, every single meal every single visit they have impressed with such well prepared and delicate meals. As the place is family owned and ran the extra care and effort put into each dish is apparent. Cheese, black truffle puff pastry, pretty much all pastas, duck and twice crumbed beef are beautiful. No matter how full we are at the end of the meal we can't seem to say no to the dessert cart. Pecan pie is great! Love this place, always a safe choice for a lovely meal.

Worst restaurant ever. Upon arriving at this Restaurant we were warmly greeted then sat down at a table. We were given menus and advised of the specials. One we had settled on our choices of a risotto and pasta plus a salad we advised the waitress of our choices. She then TOLD us that we could not have these choices as these were entrees not main courses. She said that they will never do pasta or risottos as main courses as they were traditional Italian. We advised that this is what we want we are the customer. She then escorted us out of the restaurant. Never go there if you want a pasta or risotto for dinner. You will be forced to eat a huge main course!

We visited Perugino recently we were TOTALLY disgusted with the treatment we received! Out wait person (who we believe is the owner) repeatedly insulted and bullied us e.g. Telling us the order that we were ALLOWED to have our dinner served, we were refused parmesan cheese with a pasta dish on the basis of it not ''going well'' with the food and we were not allowed our steak cooked as we wished. The attitude of the waitress was also abismal! She asked us if we would like to go outside and have a fight as well as complaining about being in the restaurant buisness for 30 years- telling us it was like a prizon sentence. For a below mediocre restaurant, they really do have a false sense of their standing.

Once the best in Perth...now it's just good.. This place seems to be showing it's age a bit...<br/><br/>Starting with the service, it's up and down. When we arrived, we were greeted and told to wait, no reason given however, and they were'nt packed. 10 mins later we were seated, the service from here on was efficient but impersonal.<br/><br/>The food had some nice touches, but nothing stood out. I guess it's because I've been there on several occasions in the past and it was high level, made with love. I think that's what this place is lacking, love, both in the kitchen and on the floor. They need some new motivation maybe...The filled pasta was the standout, flavoursome and al dente. The capretto was braised too long and lacked freshness.

Not Amazing but good. I went to perugino last week with my bf and i must say it was a bit all over the place. Firstly we were made to stand awhile inthe front to get to our table when we were the only ones. The service was efficient but not pleasant. We had the tortelloni with parmaham and mushroom cream sauce which was amazing. then the main course my bf had the steak and me the veal medallion which were both bland. for dessert the trolley was amazing and we shared the tiramisu, apple tart and creme caramel. The apple tart was amazing.<br/>to conclude, amazing entree and dessert, average service and mains.. so i am not sure whether i would return
CB
Disappointed. We were excited about going to Perugino for a group dinner. We were not given menu's to look at, just one wine list. Our booking was at 7.30, at 9.10 our first course came out. This was after the lady waitress "announced" somewhat that we should have the degustation (there really was no choice and this should have been advised at the time of booking) but there was no menu for this so we actually could not see what was on it. When we asked if we could have the gnocchi on it, she replied "NO!" and was very insistent on this point, in fact, she was plain rude. She then proceeded to insult one of our group members after asking whether anyone was allergic to any food, to which one member said yes, no pasta. She then replied she is allergic to silly people. Now, I'm sorry but I didn't think it was custom to insult the patrons..... <br/><br/>Following that, although some dishes were quite nice and fresh, others tasted bland, and were overcooked. For instance, the first dish was a mozzarella and black truffle puff pastry twist. The pastry wasn't cooked properly, and there was absolutely no taste of truffle. The other disappointing dish was the 3 french cutlet lamb rack , it tasted as though it had been cooked hours beforehand and was so overcooked that there was absolutely no pink to it, it was deathly grey, and I prefer my lamb cooked with minimal pink and still found this inedible!<br/><br/>Then the chef came out and said he would actually do the gnocchi for us with pork belly. Although we could taste the saltiness of the pork belly, it was cut in tiny minuscule pieces that you couldn't easily find it to taste on its own. Further, although the deserts were nice, the only option was to have creme with them and there was no caramel sauce for the creme caramel.<br/><br/>On the upside, the wine was superb, the water bill came in at $160 for still water which is outrageous! 4 glasses of noble one sticky were $138, and while it was nice, they should be ashamed of charging that much! Overall though, great wine list and drinks service, the champagne and wine were well worth the price. <br/><br/>The drinks service was great, until one member asked for a cognac to which the reply was no, the bottle was empty. A professional response would have been "sorry, that bottle is finished however, I will bring you the drinks list so you can choose another....", the food service was extremely slow (didn't finish the last course until 12.15am!!! and there weren't that many dishes) and the attitude of the lady waitress was really disappointing, rude and insulting. I think she forgets that without patrons, she would be out of a job! <br/><br/>Our bill came to just under 3k and while some members were still hungry, I was full (even after not eating the lamb) but overall, I think the dishes were small and overpriced and as a result they have lost us as future patrons.

Service was fine but food was below average and overpriced. We were served overcooked dhufish which could not be eaten. The waiter apologised for the very expensive rubber and still charged us...you decide...

Fantastic evening. We had a great meal last night. Great food, great wine and great company. So happy with the free appetizer - some sort of lamb parcel (not sure what it would be called) - very tasty and I LOVE free food! The delicous bread was also complementary - I had to control myself to not scoff the lot! We both started with pasta dishes. Mine was crayfish ravioli with a prawn and tomato sauce- delicious. OH had Paffutelli Al Salmone - Half moon shaped pasta filled with a mixture of prawns, scallops and Dhufish, served in a smoked salmon and cream sauce. Very good. For main I chose a special - crumbed lamb rack with a fig?? (too much wine). This was tasty but was missing (here I'm channeling MKR) a sauce! The crumbs wer nicely flavoured but a bit too oily for me. The lanb was beautifully cooked. OH had Quaglie Al Crostone - Partially de boned marinated quails, charcoal grilled then pan-fried with a reduction sauce and served on croutons. Really lovely, tender quail and an amazing sauce. We were a little disappointed buy the side serve of veges - $7.50 each for a few small morsels. The service was professional (so rare in Perth) and the wine list is amazing. We were too full for dessert. We are keen to go back and will do so soon. Fine dining done well is just so delicious we've decided to dine this way every week... or two... not cheap... but a fantastic dinner!
Trust Me
Take me back please. Don't you love it when your served by the same waiter and same owner as you did 5 years ago. <br/><br/>This is a favourite restaurant of mine and even when I experience dining here I can't find a fault in food and/or service.<br/><br/>It's such a warm feeling dining here and the waiters make you feel comfortable in the way you want to dine and/or how you want to dine with that person you've brought.<br/><br/>The food is authentic and ladies...there is a desert trolley.<br/><br/>I can't fault this restaurant but to only recommend :-D<br/><br/>I've had this dish twice and its absolutely devine, the beef melts in your mouth - Filetto All'Aceto Balsamico (For two People) @ $ 75.00. "The chateaubriand cut of baby beef fillet charcoal grilled medium rare and flamed with aged balsamic vinegar and extra virgin olive oil".

Disappointed. I really, really wanted to like this restaurant after hearing many good things about it over the years. We dined here on Friday night with friends. There were only a few other patrons in the restaurant, which I thought was quite unusual for a Friday night and given the reputation. While the food wasn't awful, myself and my fellow diners were quite disappointed. It was average at best and I really must say I can cook better Italian food myself. It had a very 80's/90's feel to the place and while it may have once been a very popular restaurant, I'm afraid it just didn't do anything for us. <br/><br/>Despite the disappointment in the food, service and wine list was excellent.

Flawless except ............. Last night I was treated to dinner at Perugino. My last time there was many years ago, when I found it superb.<br/>The only glitch, was when the owner 'refused' to allow me to order risotto as an entree/main. I'm not a huge eater and I do take exception to being told what I am going to eat when I am the patron. There was no budging her. Then later she came back to labour the point, explaining that you could never have it after an entree as it would upset your stomach. Well as I was, 'forced' to have the risotto as an entree, I really did not enjoy my main as I was so full and bloated. Not to mention I think the owners refusal may have turned my stomach somewhat.<br/>Having said that, last night was not too different, from my previous visit. Italian is not my first choice. However the meals were excellent. Original, fresh, a true balance of flavours with a simple presentation. The Risotto was the best I have had. The service staff were totally professional, the best I have seen in Perth, efficient, knowledgeable and friendly without being obtrusive.<br/>Food and service, top marks !

Complimenti!. The 3 course set lunch is great value. I count on Perugino for consistently delicious food in an elegant setting. A sophisticated restaurant which is great for special occasions.

Best Italian In Perth?. Excellent. In my opinion this is the best Italian restaurant in Perth. The menu is quite big and varied, covering everything from meat to fish to poultry to seafood and salads. Not to mention the pasta, some of the best in this city. The gnocchi is close to the best I have had in my life, perfectly cooked and with an ideal consistency. Meats are all juicy and tender, with generous portions.<br/><br/>Well deserving of their many chef hats.

A Perth classic. The best rissoto I've ever had (I suspect because it's made when ordered). Great for a special night.

Great food and wine. We had a fabulous night with our friends. We really like the desert trolley with the homemade treats.

Pretty fabulous food, especially the entrée lobster ravioli. Décor a little too fussy for me.

It has an authentic Italian feel from the moment you step into the venue, terracotta tiles and European inspired artwork cover the walls. When you walk through the entrance the first thing you notice is the bar with a small sitting area, small groups of chairs in which you're invited to have a drink before your meal. It's one of my favourite things about coming here because you feel completely relaxed, like they are in no hurry to get you out of there.

I’ve been to Perugino previously around 10 years ago. I do recall the interior which they have a sun room where the sun shines through it. It still hasn’t changed after the 10 years. It was a nice warmish day.

If you want to cook like an Italian, then you need to learn from the best in the business – makes sense, right? Giuseppe Pagliaricci (Perugino) and Egidio Squillace (Event Style) Six Italian chefs are each holding an Italian Cooking Master Class between 20 May and 9 September 2013 at the stunning Accento Home showroom in Claremont, Perth. Each chef’s restaurant has earned the Ospitalità Italiana certification awarded by the Italian Government. That means they are proficient with Italian cooking knowledge, have Italian speaking staff available, and use some Italian imported ingredients such as extra virgin olive oil.
Queen Of Bad Timing
I recently was privileged enough to be invited to attend the media launch for the Accento Italian Cooking Master Classes, which is a series of six different cooking classes organised by the Italian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI). This is the second year of these classes, which are held at the Accento Showroom in Claremont and feature chefs from restaurants in Perth such as Perugino, Galileo Buona Cucina, Maurizio, Maretti and the like.

I really love Italian food. The indulgence of fresh pasta, the delight of a proper Italian pizza – generally light on the toppings but big on the taste, lovingly prepared tomato sauces, the rich flavours of osso bucco, delicious anti pasto – from cured meats, arancini, cheeses…. the list of decadent Italian cuisine that I fancy could go on and on…. And I didn’t even start on desserts… gelati, creamy and just that little bit boozy tiramisu – forget about it, it’s all great! So given my high level of appreciation for Italian fare you can imagine how delightful it was to be recently asked along to a preview evening for the six-part Accento Italian Cooking Series, an upcoming series of classes that is being held in conjunction with Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Accento Showroom in Claremont.

If you are chasing a high quality Italian restaurant, then this place is definitely worth a visit. Polished service and delicious food made it right up there in my book. Now if I could just line up another work lunch to head back some time soon I’d be happy! :)

I attended the media launch of the Accento Italian Cooking Master Class organised by Accento and ICCI. The food on display was delicious. In a 6 part series starting with Giuseppe Pagliaricci of Perugino Restaurant on May 20th, 6 acclaimed Italian chefs will teach you the ins and outs of preparing delicious Italian food accompanied by Italian wines. The classes are held at the Accento showrooms in Claremont and organised by the Italian Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

The overall experience at Perugino despite its fairly tasty food is one that has left us rather indifferent, and I would probably not return for a while.
