Review Royal India Restaurant - Perth

Peter Flanagan
Namaste We had a $99 Groupon deal for 2. 2 entree's, 2 mains, rice, papadums, garlic nann bread and dessert. Plus 1 beer or wine each. Fantastic service, big size servings of beautiful and authentic food. We were offered a "doggy" bad for the left overs. Photos show.... Mixed entree - Tandoori Chicken, Samosa and Onion Bahji Samosas Lamb Korma Lamb Rogan Josh Do yourself a favour and book a table.

Some years ago, when I dined in, a waiter spilled half a bottle of my BYO Cab Merlot all over my guest. It was an accident, I forgave the waiter immediately - but my jaw dropped when they charged me corkage! Fast forward to tonight. I had finally gotten over the above incident and decide to order 1 beef vindaloo, a chicken korma and pulau rice for delivery. What arrived made my jaw drop again. Tiniest containers I have ever seen Indian food come in. They were so ridiculously small I just started laughing. It felt like a practical joke. Then I laughed harder when I saw they were each only 2/3 full. It was literally about 100g of curry in each container at a cost of $24 each. It was about 4 dessert spoonfuls' worth of each curry (we are talking standard, ordinary dishes here). This is not a Michelin restaurant. I wasn't laughing when I started eating. The tiny amount of beef in the tiny vindaloo (there were 6 tiny cubes that fit in 2 dessert spoons) was dry and cardboard-like. The Pulau had no sultanas contrary to what is advertised - just shrivelled peas and horribly crunchy raw carrot in ordinary yellow (turmeric?) rice. Suffice it to say it was very unpleasant to eat and I was left hungry after forking out $60. In short, this is the worst value Indian food I have ever ordered anywhere in the world hands down. In fact I think it is the worst value of any food I have ever ordered anywhere. $60 for a few mouthfuls of mediocre takeaway curry from a suburban Indian restaurant is such a rip off it was offensive. By the end of the meal, it wasn't funny anymore. I felt scammed. Maybe it's nicer when you dine in (you get the benefit of a lovely atmosphere inside when you aren't covered in wine.) But selling takeaway like this is thievery. One star for ripping me off.

I like the decor of this place, it's beautiful. The food is good. The best part is that they are mindful of customer request, they got me saffron rice when had peas in it, which I don't quite like, so they replaced the rice. As per our request they made the food spicy. The staff members are also good and complete professionals.

Favourite Indian in Perth! My husband and I used to live in West Perth so used to go very frequently. We moved about 30 minutes drive away but still try to come every fortnight to month for a delicious meal. Staff are all so welcoming and friendly and the atmosphere is great.

Would not recommend this place to anyone. We went as family to celebrate our anniversary, made reservations. The supervisor who was a rude lady put a trainee to serve us and had no courtesy . Trainee herself was a lovely girl but the supervisor was very rude and mannerless. Just put the napkin in my sons lap with one hand in a very rough manner( to teach the trainee). Maybe we were treated this bad because we were only the Indian family there. Food was also average in quality.

I’m Very disappointed last Friday 19 Nov2021, Me and my friend had dinner and I took away 2 butter chicken. when I got home I opened it and it was all burnt!!! for those who cook, if you know it's burnt, don't give it to the person who bought it.. here we pay not free very bad.. me and my friends will never go back to Royal Indian Restaurant.

One star for the naan and poori. The chicken vindaloo was watery and tasteless. Forget the taste, but diluted and soupy?! Chickpea masala was disintegrating- chalky and gritty! Tasted so old! Even the smell of the curries were so dull and appalling. Recent reviews are showing that this place is not like it used to be. $54 later for just two curries and 4 breads, very disappointing. Staff was friendly.

We had butter chicken for lunch on Friday 25 Feb It was burnt and bitter Terrible food
HR Food
Ambulance in best part name Royal Indian restaurant serves some amazing food like I have some pasta beads and butter chicken naan and thalis
Asha
Reasonably priced indian food. Tasty as well! Located in a prime part of WA. Best dishes- spinach paneer and vegetable curry... Slightly disappointed with their roti- burnt in the inside

Been to this place when I was really craving for the authentic Indian food. As the name says- it was very royal and beautifully designed. The food was decent but not outstanding as I expected. It's too much expensive  as compared to other Indian restaurants here in Perth. <br/>Food- 3/5<br/>Ambiance 4/5

This restaurant has been around for some 30 years so it's obviously doing something right. My father-in-law is a bit of a connoisseur of Indian food and he rated the Royal India food as the best he has had in Perth.

A truly enjoyable and consistent place is unfortunately lost its sheen after several years of staying on the top. As West Perth residents and regulars there either dine in or takeaway, we stopped going after a changefor worse that was evident for over a year. Hope they get their old taste and quality back. Looking forward.

Visit this place for lunch, found the service was slow (items were slow to arrive) and the food over priced for what was delivered- paid $28 for 4 onion bhajis and 4 small stuffed mushrooms- more than half the plates were just garnish and the taste was just mediocre. Don’t recommend and won’t be returning

After checking all the feedbacks, We went for biryani there and ordered all 3 varieties available on the menu. Though the food served is above average, the waiter who served dint know about the portion sizes. Hence all estimates were useless as the food we ordered felt short by the end. Will give 4 to food and 2 to service. Also no rayta or mirchi Salan with Biryani, which we got to know when we asked for it, so make sure seek details of food while ordering.
Aidan
Great Tasting Authentic Indian Food. We decided to take-away but ordered a chicken combo pack and a large Biryani Rice. Generous portions for take-away and the papadums were very crispy. It is however a shame that it costs extra to dine-in. <br/><br/>Check it out if you are around the area.

Bad service.. kept us waiting for too long for each order. Went with big office group and disappointing food ... Expired deserts were served and on top of it owner / management had no satisfactory response. Overall experience very poor... Have heard a lot of this place in the past but seems lately it's losing its shine
Casey
Ordered goat and eggplant curry with white rice for $48.00 the goat was tender and the eggplant could've been a little bit more spicier but overall worth a visit. Will be back to try more

4 cubes of beef in an oily Korma for 24 bucks ???! Total<br/>Rip off.<br/>First time I've ever had Dahl with kidney beans . Super oily and unpleasant. Waste of time and money . Nearly the worst Indian I've had in Perth
Shivi
Very small portions of food and full of cream. If someone really wants to have Indian food this is not the place . We ordered malai kofta and paneer which was all cut into half and served .. papad was not fresh. I was having a stomach ache even before finishing my food

Organised a farewell lunch. Everyone fancied a curry. Good food at Royal India. Had a vegetarian Thali for lunch. Large portion and can be shared by 2 people. May need to add in an additional naan or rice if sharing a thali. Great tasting food. Perhaps the only decent Indian restaurant in West Perth. Probably my 4th visit on a lunch time here . No complaints.
Courtney
A pleasant place to visit for a social dinner, however I personally found that whilst the food was nice it was on the pricey side ($31 for chicken tikka masala I thought was a bit steep). Wait staff friendly and attentive, however it did get to the point where my friend ans I wished one waiter focused on our table because we had multiple waiters asking us the same questions which dis start to get a tad annoying.

This  restaurant evidently has a good reputation in the Western Suburbs of Perth. I think I read somewhere it was the best in Perth. Our verdict on this is out. Although the food is good it is not the best Indian we have eaten. The service is very efficient, but lacks warmth. My aloo gobi was rather rich for my taste, however it was by no means a bad dish & the spices were spot on. The spinach & potato (saag aloo) was also average. Rice was fluffy & separate & the bread had a nice crunch to it. Liked the fact we were offered complimentary papadams & dips to start
Queen Charlene
Came here last month, not big on curry but love my byriani so I got the lamb byriani and oh my godddd... Everything I knew about byriani is out the window - THIS is now the standard I will measure all future byriani dishes. The perfect blend between flavour, tenderness and aroma. I couldn't fault it and now I'll have to try the curry on my next visit!
D
Awesome food .. Love their Dal Makhni... Good service .. Thanx Karl.. Brilliant service.. Food was reasonable and cost effective.. Would surely come back..
OG
This is still our favourite Indian restaurant :)  Staff were very friendly and attentive as they always seem to be.  I had the 'usual' mixed entrée = yum, and tried their Beef Nawabi for the first time = brilliant!  All this after being served one of the best dry vodka-gin Martini's in Perth.  We'll be back again and again.

Definitely worth the trip! This has been a favorite for years, and it just gets better and better. Great service and great food- the cheese naan and roganjosh are particular favourites. Also, I highly recommend getting the masala chai to end your meal with. We will be back!
David
Reliable. Friendly. Delicious. What more could you want. Royal India has been around since the 80s and since that time it has delivered consistently delicious and authentic indian curries. I love the decor and feel of the place and always look forward to going there.

We had a lovely meal. We over ordered with 4 dishes, garlic naan and rice. Which was fine as we were able to take it away. The meat dishes chicken masala, beef nawabi, lamb korma were all tasty and perfectly spiced (we asked for it not to be more than med hot). All dishes were superb with fresh garlic naan the only mediocre dish was the palak paneer(shame coz it's my favourite dish). Good service. Overall great food but still quite pricey as it came to $135 (4 dishes, rice, 2 naan and a glass of wine). I'd recommend it if you want a nice Indian meal in a nice setting and not too fussed with the price then it's a safe choice.
Mtman
Ordered the Lamb Madras and naan bread for take away one evening. Th food was flavourful and good portion sizes were good.<br/><br/>Would strongly recommend.
On_trend
Had the lunch meat thali. Expensive at $22.50 With small serves of rice and naan. Way too salty too across all curries. Service was fine. Money better spent at a food hall next time.
Emily
Fantastic! Fair price for fabulous quality food and service in a locely setting. Staff were super attentive but not pushy. The staff overheard it was my friend birthday and surprised her with a dessert with happy birthday written on it!! <br/>5/5, really enjoyable!!
FoodieKitten
Still the best Indian fare in Perth! Thali option offered during lunch was great with combination of 4 curries + raita + dessert! Although the price was slightly steep but quality was delivered
Sierra
Had a lovely dinner with my father here a while back. The service was fast and friendly but not overbearing, and our two curries and sides were absolutely delicious! I would have loved to have tried more of their offerings, but with just two of us we couldn't try such a range as you can when you have a large group. I can't remember the exact prices but we did feel it was on the higher side, but that we had had value for our money. <br/><br/>My overall impression was that we felt very welcomed, and well looked after. Will definitely be back.

I love this place. First dined here 20+ years ago when my now-husband took me there on a date to impress. We still love it and take our 3 kids there whenever we can. <br/>Went there last weekend on the spur of the moment. The staff are lovely, particularly Kal who has a thing for faces and remembers us each time (big customer service points!).<br/>Food is divine with great choice of gluten-free - we ordered beef vindaloo, beef korma, potato aloo and vege jalfrezi + peshwari and plain naan + raita. Everything superb. Nothing to complain about. (I personally prefer the peshwari naan at Madras House as it's sweeter and has cherries but that's just my preference and there's nothing wrong with Royal India's version).<br/>Not many restaurants in Perth enjoy a life of >20yrs so obviously Royal India knows its stuff. Always very excited to return.<br/>

The Perth Tax?. Visited with a couple of work colleagues for dinner, plenty of parking and tables to choose from since the place was empty other than one other table of two. <br/><br/>The service was professional and attentive and the meals were all excellent despite the small portions but at $30 per main you'd expect that as a minimum , the same meal in my local Indian in Melbourne which is almost as good would have cost $12 bucks and would have been twice the size. <br/><br/>Good but at these prices it would be an occasional treat rather than a regular visit or you could just move to Melbourne.
Takas Rocks
Good Indian cuisine.. As a large consumer of Indian cuisine, Royal India definitely ranks in the top 3 Indian restaurants in Perth. A fantastic selection of curries and the goat curry in particular, is one of my favourites. I also enjoy a good Naan and whilst I haven't tried their whole range, their keema naan is pretty good. Just a little spicier and it would be awesome. Good quality food, reasonably priced. There's room to increase the portion size but still a great meal.
Shell_ritchie101
Just beautiful.. I have been here a couple of times now. The service and the food is amazing. Love it.
Kris48barton
Great dinner. Very happy was planning on another then it was booked out royal india was not booked out and was very easy to sort a table amazingly good service great food and friendly staff and very good prices , i will eat here again and will tell others to also ..
Vid
Pricey, less quantity, lacks the distinct Indian flavour.

Never again.. Took my wife for dinner last night and we both regreted it. Tiny portions, very expensive prices and average service. We had to ask for the free Pappadum to get it cold. $16 for an entree of 3 pieces!! Tiny Lam dish for $28.50 and a bowl of rice for two is $14.50. Food must have been prepared and microwaved. The manager or owner was talking on his mobile out the front for most of the time instead of managing. We were in and out in less than an hour and will never go back again. The Cove on canning HWY or Agni in Innaloo are much better. Give it a miss, really.
Omnivore
Still a quality Indian restaurant. We have been visiting this place infrequently for many years (back in the days when there were very few Indian restaurants in Perth). This was probably our first visit for a couple of years with a group of family and friends. The place had been given a bit of a facelift add we were greeted by very friendly staff (Carl was the standout). Menu had plenty of choices and we were all sharing, so it was easy to pick out a range of dishes to suit all tastes. Everything was tasty and arrived promptly. Portions were adequate (there was still food left over when we finished). Certainly the prices are on the high side, but so are many places in Perth. Taking the drinks out of the calculation, this was around $40 each for starter, main, rice and breads - acceptable to us for a good quality meal.

Great food. Great service.. Went to dinner on a thursday night with a friend. service was quick efficient and friendly without impeding our dining experience. The staff were attentive and lovely to interact with :)<br/><br/>food as always was delicious, have been going here for years and will be for years to come hopefully! <br/><br/>thanks guys !
Foodfare
The sort of restaurant you vist once. ... because the food is so over-priced you wouldn't go back again. When food appears at the table less than 5 minutes after ordering you know it's going to be ordinary and probably microwaved. $14 for a serving of plain rice is ridiculous even by Perth standards. Kidney beans in the dhal - really! The beef dish at $28 had a half dozen pieces of hard stewing steak in a sauce that tasted like it had been poured from a jar. Nice surroundings - terrible food.
Robert-duval70
Love the food. Fantastic food ,and really great service ,wish is rare in Perth <br/>only one problem a little bit too pricey.....
Rich
Great food, wonderful service but, Jesus Christ, what an over-priced and expensive meal. Like everywhere in Perth, far too expensive for what it is. Drop your prices 30%, and then I'd feel happier.
Gavin
Gone :-(. Have been an avid fan of this restaurant since 1994 - only ever order the chicken vindaloo and berwa kulcha. <br/><br/>for me this curry WAS teh best in the world. <br/><br/>but the last 3 times i visited the whole taste has changed. new chef? no, they say. find it hard to believe.<br/><br/>the last time the vindaloo was AWEFUL !!! salty, gluggy and lacking the zing that defined it.<br/><br/>i do not think i can eat here again. <br/><br/>my world has collapsed....
Howie
Reasonably priced two of us ate for $136. However they must be trying to cut costs as I ordered there signature dish of goat curry and received mainly goat bones and very little meat. Curry was terrible. Rice average. Don't bother!
FatCat
Nice enough. Could have cranked up the air-conditioning a notch as it was a hot and sticky day but overall good for a quick lunch. The a la carte menu looked pretty pricey but the thali was enjoyable - standard fare but good enough value for money. A naan stuffed with potato, coriander and chilli was spot on - light and finger licking good. Service was unobtrusive and efficient.
Colette
Best Indian in Perth. Have dined in Royal India many times and always enjoy their fantastic food and great service.
Ian Hudgell
Wow!. I don't trust many of these bad reviews. The Royal India is a professionally run restaurant. Great food, hard working knowledgeable friendly staff. The guy who owns it has been in the industry for 25 years and knows what he is doing. The food is fresh and tasty. I have been a regular customer for years and never had a bad experience apart from drunks who make life hard for the staff and have had to be asked to leave...probably the same people who write bad reviews.

WALK OUT STARVING WITH AN EMPTY WALLET. 10 of us went for a work function, the service was hideous, several waiters acted as though we were the scum of the Earth. The serving sizes were tiny with a massive price tag, we had to order mains again after completing our mains. The white wine seemed to be out of date/ had an odd taste. I wouldn't recommend Royal India to anyone.
Marcus
Great Food. Very good Indian, a little pricey but the night we went is was top food, top service and overall very enjoyable. Well done, keep it up.
Trishlorenzo
Our opinion. An early evening meal was very disappointing indeed. A glass of wine I ordered was bad, it tasted foul. I questioned if it was the wine I ordered as it tasted so awful and was lied to. The poppadums were stale, the vegetable dish wasn't fresh and Buttered Chicken pieces were burnt on the edges. This meal was grossly overpriced into the bargain. <br/>A glass of wine at $9 a glass should taste like wine!
Lee
High priced for acceptable food. No complaints about the food but I could name at least 10 indian restaurants with similar or better quality food that are cheaper. This is a top end Indian but the food doesn't warrant the prices.
Culkin
Just the best.. For me in top 5 in Perth for service without a doubt. If you were a dreaming of runnning a floor, owning the restaurant or being a waiter then Royal India is a place you should visit. <br/>Simply book, arrive on time and watch as everyone works so incredibly efficiently whilst maintaining smoothness a non rushed approach. <br/>Enjoy your tasty dinner and your free lesson in service and management if thats your game.
Matthew Barker
I have loved the Royal India since the age of 16. I lived in London for 10 years and only the most exclusive Indian restaurants in the great city could compare to the Royal India. My thoughts drifted home. Unforgettable pappadums, mulligatawny soup and lamb vindaloo! A must!
Kristy
LOVE IT. My Favourite Curry house! best pappadums! fantastic service, friendly staff!!
Mummy Picnic
Pleasant service, good Indian food, they're not shy about making it as spicy as you'd like it, kind to children, and their chai masala is a great nightcap. Hubs loved the cosy, warm feeling in his tummy after a super hot curry :D
Pallavi
Amazing food, great service!. Royal India is one of my favorite restaurants serving authentic-Indian food...which is decently priced...I have a tried most of the dishes here and my personal favorites are Lamb rogan josh, chicken tikka masala... on request, they can make any main dish, a bit hot for you...which really makes it absolutely delicious and not to forget, Gulab Jamuns (heavenly!)...!! The ambiance is quite alright...and what I really like is the Bollywood music playing in the background...service is really good and the staff is very polite.
Neville Mcsorley
This restaurant must be the worst indian in Perth. The food was bland with every dish tasting the same. The staff had absolutely no idea on menu selections and to top it all the cost of every dish was overpriced for a sub standard establisment.....how can i starter with three items cost $16.50 is beyond me
Govers
Probably one of the worst places I've been too. Who the hell charges $16 for a Somosa, onion bhaji and one tandoori mushroom the size of my toe.
Horchata
A horrible dining experience. Food was very average, tasteless and cold. Very expensive too. I would have been happy to pay a little more for quality food, but it was far from quality. The most disappointing part was when a waitress dropped a glass of water on my shoulder and it spilt onto my lap. Their reply was "it's only water.." I won't be back, and I definitely won't be recommending this place.
Lori
Wowed By Service. Date night dinner - nice food, great ambiance BUT the service - silver service to a T. Attentive but not too attentive, nothing was too much trouble, a little joke here and there, and friendly smiles abounded. The staff looked genuinely happy, and that made the food all the sweeter. Well done Royal India.
Mystery Diner
Good take-away. I have only got take-aways from Royal India, but have not for once disappointed. I love their beef dishes - they are soo tender & the sauce is so rich. I also like the basmati rice which goes really well with the curry. I have recommended this place to a few friends & they all enjoy it. I can't wait to try their Tahli one day when I have a long lunch break!
For The Love Of Food
Went for lunch today and decided to have my first Thali. To be honest, the vege curry and dahl were far tastier then the chicken Masala and rogan josh. Veges also looked like they came from a frozen packet, which I'm not fussy about. However, when you're at a fine dining establishment, you expect both fresh and high quality ingredients. Unfortunately, I found it oily and chicken a little fatty. To top it off, I ended up with indigestion!!!!! On a positive note, the ambience was nice.
SunnySideUp
Amazing Soup. The best thing about this place is their Mulligatawny soup. I have never tasted a better chicken soup and I make the trek to Royal India just for that. Everything else is overpriced (although delicious) and you can get the same quality meals at Punjab or Chutney Marys
Kraz
What a joke. Got takeaway from there on sunday night.....<br/><br/>The rice was good....BUT IT WAS $13 for a large and small white rice!!!!!<br/><br/>Ordered a butter chicken and chicken tikka masala, both of the dishes chicken was burnt, as in had a lot of black to the chicken and it ruined all the sauce, it actually tasted aweful.<br/><br/>The garlic naan was average at best.<br/><br/>Overall I will never go there again as it is expensive and horrible, far superior indian places in Perth!
Rema Indran
Too expensive for Indian food!. Very tasty and authentic food but way, way too pricey for Indian food. This is a classic case of price gouging! <br/>The so-called set banquet menus are being charged at $40-$50!!! Set lunch menus are priced between $20-$30. They should be priced between $12 - $20<br/><br/>Because of its location in West Perth and proximity to mining companies, the owner thinks he can charge what we wants.Think again Pali <br/>There are restaurants as good or better for less money. Unless you are on a company expense account or are earning $200,000 or more, don't bother!
Rachel
I ordered take away from here (as it helped reduced the price) but still spent $20 on a regular size take away container. I ordered Chicken Jalfrezi which was really nice and a medium heat. Apart from being slightly pricey it was nice.
Liz
Staff constantly hassling us to buy drinks spoiled my very average over priced meal. Will not return
Hans Garlic
Best Indian in Perth. The food is awesome every time i go. Its expensive but its worth it.
Dut
Very nice food.Love the flavour. Whichever one we pick from the menu tasted good.
Babegirl
One of the best Indian rest in town. We have almost tried all the Indian rest in Perth, Royal Indian is one of the best in out list! Gd service, gd envior, and gd food definitely!! The price we paid absolutely worth the value!
Sandy Presland
Frozen veg?. Loved the meal we just consumed at the Royal India but we were disappointed that the safffron rice was full off rather dried diced carrot and peas which looked like they came straight from the freezer. When I checked about frozen veg status as we paid the bill, it certainly wasn't denied. At $14 a serve I would have expected fresh veg. Better still leave the frozen veg out.
Girl In Pink
Delish Indian dinner. D and I love indian food. We read about Royal India in the papers and decided to give it a try.<br/>We ordered the goat curry (amazing), the spinach and paneer dish, garlic naan and two desserts; gulab jamon and mango kulfi.<br/><br/>All the dishes were fantastic, especially the goat curry. <br/>I'll definately be back again!
Brodie
After 20 years of enjoying Indian food I've finally come across the worst yet! Save ya money and try cook it ya self , you can't do any worse!
Zoodle
Average and over priced. The menu was pretty simple and ordinary. Nice food, but for a pricey restaurant I expected more creative menu or atleast more authentic flavours.
Tash
So Yummy!. Myself and three friends dined at Royal Indian Sunday evening for my birthday, and what a treat it was. We decided upon a banquet - C - which gave you a choice of entree, main and dessert. <br/>We all started with the mixed entree and what a delight it was! The Tandori Chicken was a stand out for me, the flavour was devine with a slight smokey BBQ flavour. YUM!<br/>For mains we chose Butter Chicken, Lamb Roganjosh, Chicken Vindaloo and Beef Korma. Standard dishes with the banquet are rice and Naan. It was all so yummy! I couldn't decide which was the best, everything was so flavoursome. We asked for extra rice and Naan and that wasn't a problem.<br/>Dessert was a choice of three. I had the Mango Kulfi which was nice, but had mango bits in it which I didn't really enjoy. Two other ladies had the Gulab Jamun which was explained to us as Almond Balls, deep fried and dunked in sugar syrup. It all sounded a bit too sweet for me, but the girls loved it.<br/><br/>All in all, the waiter was excellent. Only down side was that water wasn't placed on our table when we arrived and we needed to ask for it.<br/><br/>Will definitely dine at Royal Indian again and taste some of the other delights the menu has on offer.<br/><br/>Can't wait!
Paula
Appalling Service. A team of four of us went here for a business lunch. One of our mains didn't arrive and when it eventually did, after we queried it with the waiter, it was obviously forgotten as the meal that came out clearly had been made in a hurry and was not very tasty at all. We told the staff this only to be advised "well it was very busy in the kitchen and we make mistakes sometimes" and received no discount or apology. To make it even worse, we were actually charged twice for this dish because they treated our prompt for the forgotten meal as if we ordered two, even though we only received one and again they didnt apologise for this error!! Also, the lunch meal included a wine and one of our diners was pregnant however she was not allowed to substitute her wine for a soft drink. Will never eat here again or recommend others to.
Lauren Jane
Not only was the food some of the best Indian I have eaten but the service was some of the best, moat attentive, helpful and friendly service I have experienced in Perth!
Sherocks_27
Ravin! Royal India. My husband and I went to dine at Royal Inda in West Perth after I had read all the glowing reviews on Monday 13/2/12.<br/>We were greeted promptly and warmly by the 1st waiter.<br/>We had 2 wait people on the night who attended to our every needs. Drinks were topped up when our glasses were empty and the female waitress who was absolutley wonderful was able to describe the most suitable wine for our meal. This always helps with a dining out experience when one has excellent wait service-especially in Perth!<br/><br/>The food was really good actually excellent as I find it really hard to find good quality indian food in Perth.<br/>Also I must say the west perth location is great as it was a mixed crowd of local diners, after work people and people dining there from else where.<br/>The thing I liked about the atmosphere is that the interior is tastefully done no tacky decorations and it has a great little front bar, background music playing. Good selection of alcoholic beverages/wine list.<br/>We had mixed entre which was great, goat and lamb and Naam bread.<br/>We had dessert which was mango cheese cake special of the night, very nice. The only let down was the mango liquerer coffee which was unfortunately burnt coffee.<br/>To be honest it's not a cheap eat but we had a lovely mixed of 2 mains, 2 types Naam bread 2 types entre, bottle of red wine, 3 beers, botle of sparkling water , 2 coffees. I highly recommend Royal India and we will be back and taking our friends.

The real indian dinning experience. Great service, environment, food was the best Indian food I've ever had. I was used to Indian restaurants that had ok food, ok environment and crappy service and I didn't expect anything but the usual from this one but fortunately it surprised me :) Bet cheese naan, best lamb korma and best butter chicken. Will definitely be back.
Sophia
Fantastic food, everything was so rich, fresh and flavoursome. I will definitely be back.
Missylady
The paneer jalfrezi is amazing here!

Hard place to beat. I always think the second time you go to a restaurant and its as good that the mark of a good restaurant and for me this is a place i would recommend again .<br/>the food is excellant friendley service please to help you (goes a long way in my book)even the owner shakes your hand now there something the aussies dont do,<br/>i wide range of food on the menu even specils (goat mmm) the wines are good selection nothing i could realy say i didnt like about the place <br/>9/10 i feel the aussies could learn alot from this restaurant

Great Restaurant. I had given up eating at Indian restaurants in Perth a few years ago as they were all so bad. However, Royal India changed all this. The food was excellent the goat curry was amazing with great flavours that seemed to continuously unfold throughout the meal Will definitely be back to visit soon
Uncle Jesse
Fantasic. I have been coming to Royal India for a very long time, i think it would be close to 20 years and have always had a great meal. I would say it's one the best Indian restaurants in Perth but it is probably a bit more expensive than youre average Indian. All the dishes are fantastic especially the Vindaloo, and yes if you want it very hot, they will fix you up. You will have steam coming out of youre mouth, nose, ears and arse for hours afterwards. Would definetly recommend this place if youre a curry muncher like me.

Tasty chicken. My colleagues and i went here on monday for a friends bday and we were happy. The service was pleasant and effiecient. together we shared garlic naans, onion naan, roti and pilau. curries were chicken masala (the best), beef vindaloo, lamb rogan josh, malai kofta, paneer curry and goan fish curry. <br/>The most disappointing was the goan fish curry, just poor quality fish used.<br/>Other than that good all around

So few places open for lunch on a Monday, but this is one of the best at any time. Great food & the hand made breads are superb.

Excellent. I have been here a few times and it has always been excellent.<br/><br/>I can recommend the butter chicken, vege korma, chicken masala and lamb rogan josh.<br/><br/>I usually get take away, and have always received a generous portion with a good meat/sauce ratio (not like other places that drown 2 bits of chicken in sauce).<br/><br/>I have also eaten in a few times and the service has been fab, the lassi's are delicious and the lunch time Thali is a must have.

Great service. Very tasty food. Very nice atmosphere. Recommend it to anyone.

Have dined here about six times for dinner. The food and service are consistently above average.

Awesome butter chicken. Arrived on a Friday night without a booking and were seated quickly. Ordered garlic naan, butter chicken and rogan josh-all delicious. The noise level in the restaurant is a bit much but the food was delicious.

The best Indian in Perth - in fact, the only one where I haven't walked out thinking I could cook better at home with a jar of Patak's. Good service. But if you told a chef in India how much these guys charge, they'd either pass out or book a flight to Perth as of yesterday

Best Indian in Perth. My wife and I love it so much we've visited literally hundreds of times!<br/><br/>It's not a cheap Indian restaurant but you definitely get what you pay for. Often when we've been away & tried Indian overseas, one of us will comment something like "Yeah ... but it's not Royal India" then we'll have to visit Royal India when we get back to enjoy some good Indian again!<br/><br/>If you haven't tried Indian here, you should because you're missing out on the best Indian food in Perth!

Best Indian restaurant in Perth. Hands down Royal India is my favourite restaurant and I've dined here dozens of times and will continue to do so without a doubt. <br/><br/>Service is fantastic, staff are always friendly and accommodating and you never need to hail a waiter for drink refills and table clearing; these things are done promptly and unobtrusively lending to a relaxing and highly enjoyable dining experience. The general atmosphere is lovely with the interior being much cozier and more pleasant than other well known Indian restaurants in the city. The recent refurb of the front of the restaurant including the new bar has been highly successful and is a really positive addition. Most importantly though the food is fantastic and never disappoints; my personal favourites are the malai koftas (no where else even compares), paneer tikka and their fabulous kashmiri naan (full of sultanas and nuts instead of just crushed banana or cherry like many others).<br/><br/>Cannot recommend highly enough, it is more expensive than your neighbourhood Indian takeaway but more than worth it.

The only place to have a curry (other than my mum's). I know my curries, and so too does Royal India.<br/><br/>Yes, the prices are high, but worth it for a special treat when you are just salivating for a great curry experience.<br/><br/>Sometimes their pappadums on arrival are a little stale, but that soon gets forgotten when you taste the rest of their dishes. My personal favourite is the chicken vindaloo.<br/><br/>Love the hot plates and rice being served by the waiter - good old fashioned service still goes a long way.<br/><br/>This place just wouldnt be the same without waiter Cal on hand.<br/><br/>It's a must try!

Good food and nice service. Chicken Vindaloo is really good. Bit expensive but overall worth a visit

Royal India is a fantastic Indian restaurant, they have a great new "bar" area now at the front with tables too, I'd be happy to eat there, but when you get into the main restaurant its even better<br/>the food is fantastic & the staff are all very freindly<br/>They have a fantastic tasting plate starter & I like the Chicken Vindaloo ( they can amke it hotter if you ask!!!)<br/><br/>For desert I have Gulab Jamun every time .... I love it<br/>Nice with a coffee..cant beat it

Firey hot. Dined: Nov 2009<br/><br/>Food:<br/>Usually when we dine at indian restaurants we ask for "indian hot" for our curry dishes. The Royal India lived up to that promise with the beef vindaloo being almost impossible hot with the green chillis! Very good! Mango lassi was the right consistency and tasted fresh. The aloo naan bread was also very hot from the green chillis.<br/><br/>Service:<br/>We dined on a weekday, so there weren't many other tables. Service was attentive and courteous. <br/><br/>Atmosphere:<br/>Being a weekday, it was relatively quiet. There was indian music playing in the background and lovely decor on the walls.<br/><br/>Overall:<br/>Will dine there again.

Decent, not great. Good food, but not great and certainly not exciting. Service was good. Overall would rather eat here than Bollywood Innaloo... ANY DAY.

One of the best. Prices are high however they serve top quality food. extremely delicious. Im sure lots of people are willing to pay big bucks for great food. Looking forward to going back there very soon.

Lost it's way a but recently, pretty standard un exciting menu and very overpriced ($28 for a chicken dish that had 5 cubes of meat in...) not up to nine marys standard.
Mr Mean
Best Indian I've come across in Perth and service is top notch.
Drew James
Definitely worth trying.. Great food at a decent price sone of the best Indian I have tasted ever!

Best Indian food in the whole country!
Food Obsession
The food here is still as delicious and the service here is fantastic. Our pre-ordered food was delivered to our table within 5 to 10 minutes of our arrival. And there was plenty of papadums for the table! Even though it's a tad expensive to dine-in, it's definitely worth it. <br/>

So how was it? Pretty good. Naan with Dhal and Raita was great. I’d say the korma was my favourite, a broader range of veggies, basically a stirfry. But they were all nice. Pretty mild. Nothing extravagant or exciting, but reliably good. Heaps of food, way too much for 2 people,
Perth Munchkin
It was all so entirely delicious – the flavours of Indian food are just brilliant! Our only wish had been that we had more naan to finsih all the tasty sauce off. One of life’s simple pleasures is enjoying sauce with naan bread. Good sauce, good bread.

While this place is in West Perth, it's not too far out of the city thanks to the Red CAT buses. One of the guys suggested this as something different and a good choice it was. We had the luncheon special which also came with
