Review The Globe - Perth

Alice Rosario
The grill steak was cooked perfectly, both as medium rare, and was perfect leather for my well-done friend. Steak sandwich was fantastic, pink on the inside and melting in my mouth. Chips are crispy and gorgeous. Compliments to the chef. The live music and volume level was not too loud, and not too quiet. Fantastic level. Definitely a great place to go!

Thank you Eliza for an incredible bottomless brunch experience. Your customer service is top level and you made us feel so welcome.

What a gorgeous venue. There was nothing better than sitting in the Beer Garden with a glass of red on a chilly winters day and watching the world go by. We decided to stay for lunch and were so glad we did as the food was delicious. The music played by the live band definitely added to the ambience, all of this was then topped off with excellent service and friendly staff, Will and Ellis went above and beyond. Definitely a winner, I will be back.

The Globe was phenomenal. We received a warm greeting from the female guards who received us with bright smiles. The live entertainment boomed through the front courtyard pleasantly with acoustic renditions of crowd favourites. The footy was on TV front and centre which is always a must for me. My brother and I ordered beers from a very decent selection on tap, went to our reserved seating and ordered from their menu directly from our phones. Super convenient! Wishing to try a number of items, we ordered the chilli fried maple chicken, the sesame crusted cauliflowers with hummus, 300g porterhouse steak with fries and baby gem salad, and a sticky date pudding to top it off. All of the food was incredible. The steak and chicken was juicy, the fries crispy, and the pudding sweet and satisfying. Service from Darcy was excellent as he was efficient and knowledgeable, with a sunny disposition which brightened an otherwise dreary and wet day.

Held an event here. Staff were very helpful and responsive in the weeks leading up to the event. Food quality is high and bartenders take their time to explain the options available. Would highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a place to host an event!

Good food, great service. Live music regularly. Awesome place to hang out at.

Had a fantastic time here with a group of friends for dinner. The food was delicious and even though they were busy, it came out in good time. The staff were extremely polite and friendly. I will definitely return. Probably next weekend. Thanks The Globe for a great night

Second work celebration. Relaxing roomy atmosphere. Service was excellent with a happy smile. Food was delicious, a bit later than others but worth the wait. Great place for a small celebration and very private from the main bars.

Great location. Relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff. Resonably priced but felt the menu was a bit limited. The meal did take a little while and the chips were a bit over cooked for my liking but my burger was very tasty and the other 3 meals my friends ordered looked great and were also very tasty.

We went for a meal and drink before going to watch Cat Stevens last night. Because of increased security checks at Perth Arena we were told to arrive early. We thought we had ample time but after 40 minutes there was no sign of our meal. It was just fish and chips.... a bar meal.... nothing fancy. People around us who arrived after us were being served. Went to ask at bar and the nice lady behind the bar said she would go and check in kitchen. Another couple next to us were also waiting for light snacks and they ordered before us! 10 minutes later the barmaid brought our meal and offered a drink as an apology. The waitstaff said that different chefs cook different meals, but that didn’t help us. We were unable to eat/drink everything as we were rushing to get to the concert we had paid a lot of money for. The staff were polite, and it wasn’t their fault but I think it would be helpful if customers were given some idea of how long meals will take when ordering so that they can decide whether or not to eat there. Unlike a restaurant where you pay after eating, this pub like many others take your money when ordering, so you have no choice about cancelling meal as you will lose money. The Facebook page for Globe actually advertises ‘Quick meals before Cat Stevens cincert’ Such a shame this wasn’t correct for us.

I had the pleasure of holding my 21st/ engagement party in a private function bar at the Globe. The staff were absolutely brilliant, Tania was a breeze to work with and the whole experience was wonderfull. I can’t recommend high enough. Thank you all!

Beautiful venue, hired lane bar for 21st. Great food selections, awesome service! All the staff were lovely, Tanya was easy to work with and Andrew got the party going. Will highly recommend!

Bar Manager Aggressive and Rude - several drinks for a few people celebrating end of year. Ordered food and it arrived with all steaks over cooked rather than medium rare as requested. Asked for help from the bar and was confronted by an aggressive and angry bar manager who argued and refused to help in any way. He was amazingly ride to the point he put his face into our faces and angrily told us the food is "perfect 100%". NEVER EVER GOING BACK! Dont dare question the food here or bar manager from hell will want to start a fight with you. DISGUSTING! SHAME ON YOU
Some Like It Hot
Had the fish, chips and salad. Food was nice enough. Service friendly and I like the venue. Not sure if this is connected but we were sat in the corner around the plants and there were a lot of little flies buzzing around us when we were eating. Bit off putting for me.

we have come here a few sundays now and have their steak special, which comes with chips, salad and a beer or wine! hasn't let us down yet, the food is always beautiful and has a great vibe on a sunday arvo!

Situated at 495 - 497 Wellington St ,The Globe Hotel is a pleasant place for easy casual drinking and dining . It has recently undergone an extensive renovation and has kept many aspects of its heritage ie timber floors & stained glass windows .There is also a large outdoor area. The Bar Menu is quite good and their homemade sausage rolls are wonderful .They have an extensive beer, wine & cocktail list . The Bar staff are friendly and helpful . The coffee here is very average and I would not recommend it .
if you like a "buzzy , upbeat " atmosphere , this is the place for you.

I'm torn whether to like or dislike this place. It's a great, vibrant haunt for cheeky Friday drinks and my workplace had the Christmas do in their private lounge, quite successfully. But.

Whatever you do, do not order the chicken burger. It's the most disgusting piece I've ever paid for: apparently cheap frozen thigh pieces rolled in crumbs, deep fried and slapped inside an average bun, ~ $18. Nope.

Worst service I’ve ever experienced. The staff were absolutely horrible. Probably the worst place I’ve been to. They are fortunate given their location that they get people through the door.

Whether it’s after work drinks, weekday lunchtime escape or deliberate outing, I’ve always enjoyed the food, drinks and vibe here. The bar snacks are my favourite, with the cold cuts platter a winner for me. Drink faves: espresso martinis and G&Ts...

Globe bartenders , please stop with the “Educate, babysit, & judging of your customers” Nonsense! , a bartenders job is to make drinks...do us all a favour; stow the attitude, and do your job!

Maybe you should focus on giving your customers an experience they won’t forget!

Terrible service. Staff are so rude. Drinks overpriced...don't bother go somewhere else.

Recently visited the Globe for my work's EOFY Lunch. The team at Globe were really great. The service was quick and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the cocktails were perfect. Couldn't rate The Globe more highly. Definitely would recommend.

Great establishment in the heart of Perth to grab some local craft beers. Can't say anything for the food, because I didn't have any here. Restaurant also has a nice and upscale atmosphere, in addition to outdoor & indoor seating.

So this bar sells only 2 variations of pints on draught Tiger beer, and Heineken. The remainder of draught beers come as schooners or middy, why you may ask? Well i did and got the response thats how it is, we only sell pints in the branded glasses. I asked why they cant just buy pint glasses and got the response thats how it is. I asked to see the manager and got told he was busy, not i will send him over.
The bar is ok gets pretty busy but when you charge as much for a schooner as you do for a pint i will be drinking elsewhere. Another example of rip off Perth.

I enjoyed a delicious lunch here today in a reasonably large group. I went for the cauliflower, apple, walnut and lentil salad and it was absolutely delicious. It's described as a 'something light' on the menu, but as you can see from the photo, the portion sizes are huge. Everyone really enjoyed their meals (spanakopita and roast veg salad; pork roll; steak etc ect) and the service was really good. This pub has a great atmosphere too.
Michael
Ordered the lamb shoulder which came out looking pretty good. Was cooked great and the egg plant it came with was creamy and delicious.

The lamb, despite looking great was completely tasteless. It may have been under seasoned or maybe a little bit too fatty. Improve the quality of the lamb and this would be a 3.5 or 4.
LittleAsianGirl
Decided to try this place instead of our usual place. Lovely service here. The food though was average for me. I did like the field mushrooms but the other dishes could be better. Maybe next time we will try the bigger dishes.
LittleGirlBigFood
The staff here are absolutely delightful. As is the mulled wine. These two aspects were the highlight. The decor followed closely. The food could have been tweaked a bit but you can't have it all..

Convenient hidden city catch up.The area outside would be great for summer but its a litte cold and wet at the moment.Mulled wine is super delicious and perfect winter. Menu is not over complicated for what it is..burgers sausage rolls and meal/drink specials. P

The Globe is a gorgeous place in the heart of the city for a drink and a catchup. We came here on a cold winters day and it was so warm and comfy inside. They also have an enclosed outdoor area with heaters which is cool. I loved all the greenery everywhere, it gives a very fresh feel. Staff were so friendly too. I look forward to coming back!
Truth Be Told Australia
Been eager to try this place out . Went here on Sunday late afternoon . Tried sitting in 3 locations outside under the heaters but we got wet in all 3 😩😂. They really need some sort of shutters ..Moved inside eventually, this place was so quiet it was scary .. Great location , notice a few deros in the pub and hanging around outside and that made it no so comfortable, sadly ..I had the fish taco,s and they were not nice at all, my partner had the steak special with a beer and he really enjoyed it .
Vee Kee
We ordered 5 scotch fillets and only the well done one was cooked as requested. The other two rares and two medium rares were over cooked. Having said that it was still very tender, the mash and mushroom goes very well with it. Everyone finished their meal. It was a good meal.

Oh where to begin... the slow cooked pork roll came as a take-away style burger. The buns were cold and pointless, same goes for the meat itself.
The fries were seriously over-salted. The beetroot dip with sourdough was.. not worth its price to say the least.
Haven't had something this disappointing in a while... :)

When you have a green juice for the first time in forever and you fall in love with them thanks to Globe cafe! So thank you, this has made me try every other green juice!

Black Cat
A positive dining experience...Good food (and good range), a modern twist on classic pub foods, good value for money, good service, relaxed atmosphere, unpretentious...happy diner! Though I came for a sit-down meal, this is also a good venue for drinks.

The Globe opened back in January in the vibrant 140 precinct in the city and although I got to sample some of their bar food with a drink before a Fringe show in February, I was hanging out to go back for dinner in the Eatery. The Globe comprises of a Bar, Lane and Eatery in a beautiful building that was built in the 1880s during the gold rush and has certainly had a few different lives since then.
The main bar has a large alfresco area, perfect for our glorious long summers and is generally heaving over the weekend, with a DJ busting out the tunes. The laneway bar at the back of the building is a bit quieter with more of a chilled, intimate vibe and where we decided to have a pre dinner drink.
The cocktail menu is varied, unique, experimental, and got my attention. So while the girls took a while to make a decision on a cocktail, the boys started with a beer. We eventually decided on the W&J and the Batik. The bar staff here take their craft seriously, with the garnishes and ingredients made in house from scratch. The cocktails arrived and I was excited, so often you find the same standard creations on a menu but I felt here it was an art form with creativity the key.
The Round Eye
Stopped in for a couple of beers and tried the pulled pork roll with apple, slaw, chilli jam and fries. Was delicious and simple roll but done well. Good enough to intrigue me into trying mire.

... From there to here where we had a few bubbles (I have sparkly white and he had a beer) with home made sausage rolls and fries. The contrast in just 10 short minutes ... The service was ok, the atmosphere fine for a late evening drink and then we were off again ...

We had a drink in the bar which was quite a nice start to the night. It was a busy night due to Fringe Festival, but the staff said they could fit us at the bar section in the restaurant. The food was not good, husband had chicken with little on the plate to feed a child & I had fish that combination crust was not tasty. Never going back again. Wine selection is decent though.

Had a night out with some friends at the globe at the eatery. Walking through the bar and lane, it is an impressive dining venue and a great addition to the CBD.
The Eatery is tucked away in a more secluded part of the venue, and the atmosphere is somewhat more subdued. We had great service and everyone at the table enjoyed their mains. I had the lamb breast and it was a decent size serve of well cooked (and tender) lamb. The sides were also impressive- particularly the cauliflower dish. The beverage list was also extensive. Will definitely be making a return trip in the near future.
Perth Munchkin
“We’re going to have a ball tonight – let’s have a ball! Down at the Globe!” I sung this Big Audio Dynamite classic in my head on the way to dinner recently at one of the CBD’s newer additions, The Globe. Situated in the vibrant 140 Perth complex on William Street, The Globe is a larger venue than I had expected. Split into a cocktail bar, alfresco and bar section with a stylish eatery there are options available depending on your preferred eating and drinking mood.
Foodie Cravings
The Globe Bar and Eatery is the latest Perth bar / restaurant to join 140 and I think architecturally they’ve done a great job. The venue has three distinct areas, the bar, laneway and eatery, each of which has its own vibe and atmosphere. We started the night in the Laneway section with some cocktails. I haven’t had many cocktails aside from at resorts and beach clubs in Bali, but you could really tell that these weren’t the run of the mill mojitos and martinis – the mixologists here take their cocktails seriously. Every ingredient went well together and it really gave me that feeling of a perfectly crafted dish but in the form of an alcoholic concoction.
Chasing That Food High
Amazing food & great service. The only thing I didn't like (hence a rating of 4) was the lack of atmosphere but would still return nonetheless as the food is that good!
Sybarite
Wow. So I wasn't expecting quite this level of amazingness! All 3 dishes blew me away. The flank steak is divine and I would struggle to look past it on future visits (yes I will most definitely be back). The lamb melts in your mouth. The cauliflower dish is beautifully presented and super tasty. Service is outstanding. As mentioned by my dining partner who also entered via the bar, we were personally escorted to the eatery rather than simply pointed in the right direction; a very nice touch that made an impact. Our waitress was super friendly whilst not being intrusive. Granted we were the only people dining. I do hope business picks up for them soon! I imagine their bar area gets busy especially on a Friday after work as it looks like a great spot, especially their outdoor area. Personally I think they shouldn't have frosted their windows, not just yet anyway, which might encourage more walk in business. Understanding Wellington Street is not a pretty sight at the moment so once you're in, it's perfect.

Had foodies catch up this arvo with Sybarite. The Globe have few sections: Bar, Eatery & Laneway Lounge. Bar & Eatery area got different ambience but both look great. I picked Eatery mainly because it's got more interesting dishes on menu and ended up loving it's bright interior design.
Unfortunately I didn't get to see the Lounge section.

Based on Inexology recommendation, we picked below dishes to share:
1. PEPPER CRUSTED FLANK STEAK, SWEET CORN, CUCUMBER PICKLE - Highlight of the day! We loved this dish so much. We asked for medium and that's how it's done. Meat was tender. Sweet corn puree was delicious. Cucumber pickle was tangy and refreshing. It's a 10 out of 10 dish for me.
2. POT ROASTED LAMB, AFGHAN YOGHURT, EGGPLANT - Lamb cooked nicely: soft, easy to cut and melts in your mouth. Afghan Yoghurt to compliment the lamb was just right. Eggplant was alright too.
3. ROASTED CAULIFLOWER, COMTE, ALMOND - This is probably something that you can do at home. It's really yummy though.

One more thing worth mention was the service quality. I was escorted by one of the staffs from Bar to Eatery section instead of telling me where to go and let me walk by myself. The girl who served us (Zoe?) was really helpful and friendly. She served with smile and adored my bub. The guy whom I chat to during paying was friendly too. They employ right people with great attitudes for sure.

I just cant wait to go back with Hubby, hopefully soon.

The food in the eatery was the best I had this year. The service was excellent and the staff very helpful.
The cocktails in the lane bar were just amazing.
I am so Happy I stopped by on my way home from work.
I highly recommend this place .
Inexology
The Globe is the latest uber-cool bar and eatery which is located in close proximity to Bambamboo and Ribs & Burgers. They opened their doors for business on the 18th of January 2016 at the site of the original Globe Hotel built during the 1880’s gold rush.

To guarantee quality, all of the garnishes that were used at the Globe were developed in-house such as the rosemary syrup, grapefruit ice cubes, mangosteen foam and the red lotus. The cocktail of my choice was Gradisca (meaning good fun). Gradisca is Vodka Imperiale teamed up with France’s Joseph Cartron Mandarine and Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic Water (made with floral botanicals). What I drank was a very smooth cocktail filled with a refreshing citrusy flavour. The current cocktails are very well priced, between $15-20.
Queen Of Bad Timing
The name “The Globe” elicits familiar echoes from the past; memories of previous venues with the same moniker. Erected in the same location as the original Globe Hotel, the new offering is made of three venues in one, the bar, the eatery and the lane – a small cocktail and wine lounge perfect for after work drinks.

The Eatery did not disappoint, that I am sure of! I have only been here once and ordered the fish carpaccio and lamb for my late lunch. Fish carpaccio was refreshing - the mix of flavours played with my palate! The lamb was cooked perfectly - very tender. I love how the flavours do not overpower each other. I would definitely do back and try the rest on the menu - one visit at a time! Will be going back and have a go of the bar sometime soon!

We had heard this was a great place to eat. We were not disappointed. Starting with Tuna rillettes with seeded lavosh/ Market fish carpaccio, chilli, pistachio and peach, followed by Tasmanian salmon, green tahini, almonds & olives ( best ever )/Pot roasted lamb breast, Afghan yoghurt & eggplant with Roasted cauliflower, comte & almond / Radicchio, pecorino, crouton, green olive & egg as sides. We had dinner here before going to Gillian Welch so we had to eat and run. No time to taste the desserts. This is the first time we had eaten here. The quality of the food and service will ensure we will be back
Billylamb
Ate in the restaurant section of The Globe which was a lot quieter and calm than the pub section. Quite amazing how the atmosphere is so different within the same venue. Entree of chorizo and octopus was delicious - loved the crunchy bits on top. Fish carpaccio was refreshing. The best parts of the meal were the mains. Steak and lamb were both delicious. Lamb could have been a bigger serving for the price but otherwise no complaints. Would happily eat here again. Nice addition to the CBD!
