Review U&i 24h Cafe - Perth

Almost an institution when it comes to Vietnamese food in Northbridge, this restaurant has been around for what seems like forever. Over the years it has been consistent in its offerings which were maybe not the top but still a good average across the many Vietnamese restaurants around. However, on the latest occasion we went, the food was a little less consistent. On one hand they offer some intensely flavourful broths like with the Braised Duck Egg Noodle Soup, but on the other hand the pork chop in the broken rice was quite dry and lacked enough flavour. However, overall it's still a decent place to go for Vietnamese food with a reasonably large dining area. They also currently run a 10% off promotion for takeaways.

Great Vietnamese food! My goto place for Phó in Perth. Tasty not too salty beef broth. Silky soft Hofun noodles. Giant stuffed chicken wings with soft moist fillings. Always satisfied never disappoints.

Went to grab lunch as we felt like some Vietnamese. The pho tai and garlic king prawn were very good but not sure if I am going to try the stir fried veges again... The customer service was very exceptional, will be back to try some other menus soon😋🍤🍲🍜

The best Vietnamese food we've ever had in Australia. Ordered the boneless fried chicken feet, beef vermicelli salad, and pork chop with rice.

Eat where the locals eat. This place has been a Vietnamese food go to for years. Always great service. Never booked ahead but always got a table quickly. Food is great and very well priced.

Good food and fast service. Tried stuffed chicken wings , chicken mince rice with lemon grass and chicken curry with noodles . All the dishes were good. Do not sit opposite to the main door as it gets cold when ever some one opens the door. Will definitely go back

Had beef with lemon grass and rice noodles. It was very delicious! Good prices (11-16$ most of it). But sitting near the door is not a nice atmosphere. Felt the cold wind blowing into the restaurant every time the door opened. Second time we did not sit at the door and the food was again excellent. Prawn dumpling soup, huge portion, $15.50. A friend was also more than happy with a seafood soup.

We ordered "fried rice" and for whatever reason it was with bacon! Why?! Come on - bacon in fried rice?! Seriously??? Stir fry veggies with tofu were all right, but not going to come back

One of my favourite places! I have come here several times and never once have I been disappointed. It doesn't matter whether I come for lunch, dinner or at 2am.. it is always wonderful. No matter how busy i see the place, we always get our meals quickly and they arrive hot, fresh and tasty. I often get the chicken noodle soup with the beef broth, and experiencing similar dishes in other places just simply arent the same standard! Even the freshly squeezed juices they do are to die for. The prices are reasonable aswell, for $12 I am left barely being able to finish my meal due to great portion sizes. All in all i would 110% recommend this place☺

It’s obviously the best Vietnamese cruise restaurant with great food, love the drinks, the atmosphere is good, always great service, this place is amazing and we will definitely come back again!

This place never lets me down. I eat here often and have tried just about everything on the menu. Friendly staff more than happy to have a chat and share a laugh. Well done you guys.

Drinks came out and where very nice, the double entree came and was lacking taste, then the main dish came out and it went completely down after that! Ordered two plates of “pork” Pad Thai. We both had a total of 7 little peices of pork between 2 plates. One of the entree was two creamy chicken and corn soup! All I can say there was no creamy taste but a taste of strong coriander. I told waitress of my concerns and was told would we like free desert I said no, and still had to pay for the two Pad Thai that was close to $55 when we didn’t even eat half each as the flavour and consisticy was lacking! Really drinks and entree should have only been charged. Ended up leaving U&I hungry and headed to McDonalds and took home and watched Netflix. Beware the place may seem up market due to face lift etc, but good quality 2/5 stars. If management would like to msg and arrange a proper Pad Thai on them my close friend and myself would go back so I can change this bad review. So management what will it be?

Just received my meal via UBEREATS. All I can say is, 11/10. Absolutely amazing feed. Will return, and recommend. Thanks guys!

We visited u&i at 3am last night and this place was so amazing with food drinks and serviced. I ordered com tam and other friends order pho that were tasty and delicious with vietnamese flavour. The staffs were always smiling and happy to serve us even thought the cafe was very busy. The organisation is very excellent. Love this place and definitely come back for this with my family. 5 stars and recommending every one should visit this place .

When I bought food from U&I I thought to myself "This has been the best trade deal in the history of trade deals, maybe ever."
Zandalee Tartaglia Anderson
The food was amazing, fresh and was served fast. Great place to wine and dine.

I come here every week, sometimes twice a week! This is my favourite Vietnamese restaurant. However, the reason why I rate it 4 stars is: I am eager to know why this really busy restaurant does not have hand wash soap in the toilet?? Especially when you need to squeeze the lime ~ BTW, the waiters are cute

Great food, great service. Had a large table of 20 people and we were looked after very well. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Hien Nguyen
We love this place, especially after hours when no one else is even open. Fresh, clean and healthy food.

Spectacular 24 hour Vietnamese restaurant that serves Banh mi, milk tea, Vietnamese coffee, pho, and much more... including alcoholic beverages. Although the restaurant is open 24 hours, the little deli section of the restaurant where they make Banh mi sandwiches isn't open 24 hours. Also has good smoothies. Just wish the staff were friendlier.
Karina
The foods are pretty good but a bit pricier than fellow Vietnamese eateries in the area (Northbridge). However being open till late night, which is rare in Perth, it deserves another star.
Ian
The only 24 hr Vietnamese restaurant I know. After a late night out can’t really taste much. Went here for lunch one day and it’s actually not bad sober. Had the pho tai and everything was good. Vietnamese coffee was particularly good
Been here many times before the renovation however today was my first visit since it was renovated. Service was below average today. Pho always is served with a side of garnishing, hoi sin sauce and chilli sauce. I had to ask not once but twice to get them. Didn’t even supply napkins! Didn’t bother to clean the table.

*Rating is a 3.5*
Love that this place is open 24 hours. Clean, spacious and in the heart of Northbridge. We ordered fresh spring rolls which were good, seafood hor fun which was very tasty, satay chicken (nice), and the pho soup (pretty good). No dessert as we were full but we shared an avocado smoothie which was quite delicious & refreshing. Food is a little on the pricier side but that’s to be expected given they are constantly open. Service was polite, menu is extensive and food was of a good standard.

Went for lunch with my mother-in-law to check this place out. Very convenient, with decent prices given the fact that the place is 24/7. Can definitely recommend the serving sizes - my bowl of Pho was HUGE! Given the price, I was very satisfied with my order. I also ordered their 'custard apple' smoothie, which was as advertised (tasted of custard apple and deliciously refreshing), so I walked away very content with my decision to have lunch there. They also sell mocktails, which is great for those who are non-alcohol, and have a wide range of teas and milkshakes to offer as well.
My MIL decided to get a broth soup, and she was impressed with the portion of seafood she was given. She appreciated that jalapeno and chili was served on the side as an option, as she's very particular about the spices she has in her food, and commented that the tea was well-priced. I was a bit confused with the ordering and bill-paying - was it table service? Was it order-at-the-counter? There was a little device on the table where it was implied you pressed a button to get the bill, but the waitress ushered us to the till at the front of the store anyway. I didn't feel like it detracted from the experience, so I'd definitely still go there again. I wasn't blown away by my experience here, but it's the sort of place I'd be happy to frequent due to its cleanliness and sheer amount of options to choose from. I could eat here every night for a week and still have something new to try!

Came here with a group of friends after a night out. Seems to be one of the only places open at this time in Northbridge. Anyhow not the best Vietnamese food and not the cheapest either. Ordered the bun bo hue, banh canh, broken rice dish and a stir fry beef dish. Portions were generous and a good place to have supper late dinner since it’s open 24/7
DforDee
Best grilled pork bahn mi (Vietnamese pork roll)! The peanut sauce goes so well with the bread and crispy picked vegetable. I'd definitely go back there for it.

Thank you to the male waiter ( sorry I dont know your name) for your excellent customer service. We came here for round 2 dinner as our 1st dinner was horrible. The food was tasty ( pho ga / pho with beef) and the tropical shake ( durian & avocado) was thick and creamy. Thank you again for making our night a whole lot better. We will be back :)
Carmen
Ambience, setting and service all great! Always order their durian and Avocado tropical shake, always delicious. Pho was so yummy also. We've been back again and again. Keep up the good work!

U&I — definitely one of my go-to place whenever I’m hungry but everything is closed. This 24hour restaurant is located in such a strategic area. They’re currently doing some renovations. But don’t worry! You can still eat as much as you can without getting disturbed! The food is okay. But the fact that they open 24hours makes them people’s fav 😉
Ashleigh Jayne
The restaurant is very nice and clean, well laid out and is very spacious. The staff are very attentive and willing to help accommodate when necessary. Food is well prepared, some dishes can be a bit bland, but others can be full of flavour. Nice menu.
Fatemeh Rezaie
the satay chicken was very nice 2 skewers for $7
but i wish they had a full vegetarian pho.
this pho was vegetarian but had beef broth and also it was the same price as other phos.

so i wish they had pho that was vegetarian with vegetarian broth.
Macchasoufflé
Convenient that this place is open 24 hours. Pho broth was okay, but really stingy on meat. Only one slice of brisket, few pieces of tripe, and a couple of meatballs. Tripe was cooked springy and well though.

Noodles with roast duck was okay as well. Portion of noodles was small, and duck was slightly tough.
LoveToEat?
Noodles were dry and tasteless with rubbery chicken. Fried rice was average. Service was crap. At least it was kind of cheap. Won’t be coming back any time soon.
Sladjana Jocic
Vietnamese food 24/7 why not!? Great atmosphere, seating available inside or outside. The food was quite good but did take a while for it come out even the it didn't look busy
Denise Koh
Very average food, nothing special, but definitely not bad either. I'm not the biggest fan of Vietnamese food and their menu items were just your typical vietnamese flavours and meals, nothing special. Nothing that stands out compared to other Vietnamese restaurants, but if you are craving Vietnamese food and you do enjoy this cuisine, then you may be able to appreciate this place more than I can.
Food And People
Surprisingly great!!

So...why did i say surprisingly? This place has a few signs of being a tacky tacky stop...24 hour; plastic menus with photos..but I'm so pleased I have it a go! From the very warm welcome; nice cocktail list and honest; well priced food with tons of variety - I would absolutely return. For the price point - it gets a 5 star for me.

1 out of 10 worst Vietnamese restaurant charged $7.50 for five tiny squid rings the size of half an oreo. Also the waiter has trouble understanding English. Yes.
Mubeena Maza
A late dinner turned out to be quite amazing!
The service was great! We got our appetisers and entree after 5 minutes of ordering..! The food was very light and tasty.. I enjoyed the balance of their meals with non veg salad and carbs. Good thing is its 24/7!! This is definitely a place to visit again!
Mark
Awsome place to have dinner can't fault it
i have been here heaps of time one of my favorite Vietnamese place to eat my favorite dishes are the noodles soup
Delicious Sweets
Worst customer service ever ! I had the press the bell like 6 times for the waiter to come and take the order.
I had wedges for entree and it was so oily and tasted abit frozen inside , its definitely a packet of frozen market chips. The pho was generous with soup but not so much on the beef and the noodles, portion was quite small and not filling compare to other vietnamese restaurants. Definitely not worth it and the food was disappointing. I don't understand why people rave about this place the only thing to rave about is its 24/7 opening hours and thats about it.

Good affordable food. Easy to find in Northbridge great fusion of Asians foods and the service was fast and helpful. Was a good meal and nice atmosphere. Lulu Jaalyl Kafula

Waking up from the long night before, I only had time for one last breakfast before heading back to Brisbane. Having wandered through Northbridge the night before, I was surprised that none of the places were open for breakfast, that is, until I glanced the massive "24 hr pho" sign at U&I cafe. Intrigued, we headed inside.

Best Pho I've ever had! It's open 24 hours which is plus for me, someone who goes out late at night and in need of a good eat. I love the environment, so bright and clean, the staff are very friendly too.
Takayuki Takahashi
I had a beef noodle for takeaway last night. When I got home, I've found my meal was uncooked. Not sure it's supposed to be like this or not.

Not nice tasting food. Good portion sizes and quick service though. Friendly wait staff. Lots of flies outside at the tables, sticky tables, doesn't feel or look very clean.
Eggsellent
Loved their food! Love love love. Their atmosphere is lovely outside. However their staff are non-attentive and always looked like they hated their job and their customers which ruins the mood a lot
Bottomlesspit
I LOVE U & I. The fact that it is 24hrs is fantastic in itself, especially for Perth. The restaurant is always clean with a welcoming vibe and polite staff. I love the food here as well, always tasty, authentic and well priced for what you get. I always get the Bun Bo Xao. Definitely will keep coming back.
Mr Robot
U&I offers 24 hour service, something that is difficult to find in Perth. Service is good and the restaurant presents itself as clean and welcoming, with an excellent outdoor seating area for those warmer months. Food is decently priced, with a good range. A good place to drop by for those late night/early morning munchies.
Tracy
I've been here heaps of times because it's 24hrs. I'm Vietnamese so I can tell the food is just okay. The service is okay as well.
Today we had a very bad experience with this place. We went there about 10:30am (04/12/2016), the restaurant was so empty that there was no excuse. They made us wait like 15 mins to take our orders. After waiting more 30 mins, the SAME guy asked us if we already take the order. Meanwhile their regular customer came in later than us already had food. We walked out. The thing is right, the staff were too busy chatting and teasing each other and didnt give a damn about customers. I saw other customers sitting outside had to come to the counter to ask to order. Like, seriously, if you dont wanna work, then go home. Give customers some respect!
More information about that staff: he is young, has northern accent, he has an attitude too.
The middle aged guy and prego lady work well, if you come in right on their shift, you're on luck.
Ali Macfarlane
A fantastic Vietnamese restaurant. The food is amazing, good sized helpings, beautifully presented, amazing taste and reasonably priced. Friendly service and overall a wonderful experience.

I am a regular customer here and i gotta say its my fave place to hve pho or bun bo hue! I usually go there before or after a nightout in nb or just go whenever im having cravings with my friends or partner. I use to go there once a week and even the manager recognises me! 10/10
MissFoodie
Very convenient place to go after a night out in northbridge and feeling hungry. 👍🏼 food is a 6 or 7 out of 10 some dishes are amazing while some lack flavour or just that little something. Usually quite packed and noisy. Good place to go with friends :) recommend!
Descent service 😊 Thankyou! Will come again

I have come to this beautiful 24-hour venue quite a bit over the last few months. the food and service every time i have gone was a wonderful experience. Pho has the authenticity and fullness that would have expected for the price. The broken rice with the pork chop is one of the best i have had to enjoy in Perth so far. It is also very convenient after a late night out in Northbridge on the weekends too. The cleanliness is very high for a 24-hour venue too.

However, I do have one issue with U&I cafe is the advertising of free WiFi you would have if you were a paying customer, first time was told they were having internet connection problems and that they were trying to fix it ASAP, that's fine. However the second time, about two weeks later rocked up about 10 minutes to midnight, the waitress said WiFi is available after midnight, come 12:30 Internet problems sighted. Every now and then, I come have a dine at this Vietnamese Cafe with friends, and still the WiFi isn't fixed. If there is no WiFi, please don't advertise as having free WiFi access, it's misleading.

Nevertheless, the food standard is quite exemplary for a 24/7 venue.
That Girl Who Travels
Pho here was pretty authentic, though I must say that the portion of beef in the soup was not much at all.

Service was pretty decent and it has a nice family vibe.
InMyFaceHole
Popped in for Friday lunch. Lovely outdoor area to eat on a warm sunny day. Food was tasty - we had the noodle salad bowl. Service friendly.

Walked by a thousand times, stopped in midnight Thursday for some Pho. Happy with my experience. Some good menu choices, room for more variety but enough to satisfy. My wife always chooses the tastiest broth and tonight was no different. To be honest I can’t remember exactly what we had, but it was numbers 27 & 32 on current menu. Flavours were strong enough, I loved the pork liver very much. The fried ice cream was not really good. Our bowls were very full of ingredients and the quail eggs were cooked nicely. Also, I was so very impressed with the cleanliness of the restaurant and bathroom. Years of late night/after hours eating has left me not expecting much in the way of sanitation, but this place was very clean and the staff were clearly on the ball.
Michelle Yvonne
It's ok here - the pho was a gorgeous, flavourful, comforting bowl of goodness. The service was friendly and fast. The starters (we had the fresh pork spring rolls and squid rings) were bland and the portions were small for the price. I'll definitely be back, but only for the pho and not the starters.
Happymuncher
Thank goodness for 24/7 places like this. My pho cravings at 11pm at night was satisfied. Pho is simple but I won't order the combination again because the intestines were a put off.
Kudokun
PERTH doesn't have too much 24/7 restaurant but U&I is one of them and they definitely worth the try. Staffs are very friendly, they are good in interacting with customers and all. The place is quite spacious too (not too far from train station with plenty nearby carpark) allowing great hang-out places be it small or large group.

Prices are decent and the food are not too bad too. They have plenty of choices with the vermicille spring roll and broken rice set to be my favorite. The meat can be a bit hard at times. But overall is still a decent meal.
J Smith
The partner felt like pho when he was sick so I figured to give this place a go since I was in the area. The fresh rolls were fresh enough. Pho was ok. The egg noodles were boring, good thing I got takeaway so I added a couple of sauces at home to give it some flavour. It's like they just added the seafood and noodles without cooking it in any sauce whatsoever. This was the same case for the cashew chicken, there was no sauce to bind the good ingredients. This place was a let down. Venture further down William street for amazing Vietnamese spots and better pho. The only good point is it is 24 hours so at least there's another option for late night eats in the area other than fast food, the moon or Chinese food.
Perth Foodaholic
There are not many restaurants in Perth that are 24 hours except for fast food places such as Fast Eddys and Maccas. I like the idea of a place offering pho at any time of the night or day. Given that Perth doesn’t have many 24 hour places to eat I would love to support places that try. However, the food needs to be nice to be worth it. The service here is not the greatest, often you aren’t able to get the waiter’s attention and when you do manage to get their attention and ask them for something, they forget or take their sweet time getting it for you. I’ve been here a couple of times and I am not impressed. I think the pho here is quite bland and flavourless, although the serving sizes are decent. I have also tried their grilled pork and spring roll rice vermicelli dish which is one of my favourite Vietnamese dishes to order and it was disappointing. I have a friend who goes here on a regular basis and I am not too sure why. I personally think that there are heaps of better Vietnamese restaurants than this place. But each to their own. I’ve order the calamari here once thinking that it would be homemade but it was the store bought kind. The only thing that I really like here is their quail entrée. It’s $8 for one quail which is a little pricey but it is tasty – deep fried with salt, pepper and chillies. Overall it was an average experience and I won’t be rushing back. If other places are open, I would probably opt for them over this.
La Angeles
Very bad service like a rat's ass, waiters/waitresses had no idea what they're doing and not very friendly at all and everything is just 1/10 not recommended.
PerthfectBreakfast
I'm loving 24/7 pho during weather like this. I think they have a reduced menu though when you come in at a ridiculous hour. I swear they had more options before. Had pho and porkchop broken rice, both pretty good.
Carol
Service is slow & and the understanding of English is not the best. Food is fast though and tastes ok. If every other place is closed than this is a place to go.
Food Forever
I have never dined in but I love their selection of ban mi to takeaway. The baguettes always have a nice crunchy texture and the fillings of meat and salad is generously proportioned.
Renato
Who doesn't love a 24-hr restaurant? This is the missing link that Perth needed and it's in the perfect location. The food was generous and tasty without being amazing... but sitting outside people watching is part of the experience.
Baerod
Terrible service, waited 25+ minutes for drinks alone, and server was extremely unhelpful as well. I saw someone putting on their jacket, the same time a waitress holding food was walking past, and their hand touched a noodle dish flicking food off. Waitress continued as nothing happened. Very gross, would not want to be the recipients of that dish. Only positive thing is 24 hours, but I think fast food might be a better option.
Adam
The banh mi here are actually really really good. I'm used to the delicious banh mis we get around the Honeywell Blvd/Beechboro area but this is pretty good as well. The roast pork is a nice touch ;)
Christian Kikis
I waited for 45 minutes for my meal and the waiter came back to me saying they didn't take any of my order when I continuously order my meal again for 3 times and they still said I didn't order anything, when I confirm it to the manager, he said I order it (while I didn't get anything) and forced me to pay for it.
Queen Charlene
I am in love with your baguettes! Keep them coming! Marinaded pork baguette with peanuts is the BEST! I've told all my friends to check you guys out!
Anna Nguyen
A nice place to go to when everything is closed. I always order the rice vermicelli with grilled pork and spring rolls 👍 avocado smoothie is also quite nice.
Irenenyein
The pho is always a hit here! Generous serving of soup with noodles and meat & they also put the mint, lemon wedges, chilli slices & bean sprouts separately so everyone can personalise their pho
George
Not bad for a 24 hour place
Been about 3-4 times after work
Servings are sometimes small and the waiters don't look too happy
But hey still beats Maccas when you're looking for food at 2am
Kiwi FIFO Chef
Popped in here for the third or fourth time, late on a Saturday night just after New Years, when most of the late night Northbridge joints were closing up. My wife, son and I all enjoyed a different version of noodle soup, and the service was fast and friendly as always.
Jenkin Huynh
Horrendous service. Doesn't even serve all the dishes out. Leaves one person without food, not only making him wait, but making him watch other people eat.
Claire Lovegames
This is a nice restaurant, I like vietnamese food. good. I eat here often, and I feel so satisfied. Pho is the way to go!!! Blah blah blah 140 characters

U & I 24hr Cafe is located where the old Vultures used to be. I have walked past U & I for years and never felt compelled to go in. Yesterday being Christmas day it was one of the few places open so I decided it was time to bite the bullet and go. I am so glad that I did!. U & I has a great set up. The outside area is reminiscent of that of cafes in Bali. Very garden like and very accommodating.
Stacy N
I was in here last week in the dark am hours. I'm not going to lie, the food was not bad. But this place has amongst the rudest, most unprofessional guys working. The staff member that was bald and tried to put on an american accent was our waiter, the way he acted was like he way too good to be working in this restaurant, and my complaints about the missing pho went ignored, because apparently it was my fault that a table of 5 had 4 mains. By the time we recieved the bowl of pho, everyone else had finished entirely, a full 30 minutes later. I have been here many times, and each time i have let the rude staff slide, for the convience of the 24hrs, but this is definitely the last time me and any of my friends come here. If you're going to invest in a nice venue and a nice location, at least invest in some proper staff.
WenJ
Me and my husband are the regulars here.

They Serve good variety of food, quality is consistent. Stuff are very helpful and attentive, without fail every single time.

We always come here for a quick dinner if either of us finish work late.
Cassie
I most recently had the grilled pork banh mi, but I've also tried the rice paper rolls and pho from here. The grilled pork in my banh mi covered in a sauce that tasted a lot like hoisin sauce, and whilst the right amount of sauce gives it more flavour, this one overpowered the whole banh mi so all I could taste was the strong sweetness of the sauce. The bread to filling ratio was good though, and the bread was nicely toasted.

Visiting lately around 1am with group of friends in the weekend. The U&i was amazing and great with Vietnamese Pho. I personally ordered beef noddle soup and spring roll and they were delicious. other my friend ordered some fried rice dishes and noddle dishes to enjoy the late time eating over here. Nothing to complain about the food and drinks. All staffs were very friendly and helpful to offer us the food in U&I even though the cafe was very busy at that time but our food, drinks and service came right on time.
It is very worth it to spend time and money to eat here and this guy is amazing to open 24h/7. will come back again for U&I .
well done Job

My friends and I were out in the city late last night and most restaurants were closed at the time. We decided to try this Vietnamese restaurant for the first time. We all loved the food and we will definitely be coming back. Service, atmosphere, affordable and food was great!
Asus
I regularly come to this restaurant at night on the weekends, the food is quite authentic with true Vietnamese flavours with great prices for the area. What really makes it worth the visit is the customer service, with the friendly faces - interestingly enough they remember my name, but I don't remember theirs, and I've only been there maybe five times!Food: 3.5/5Customer service: 5/5Price: 5/5Definitely worth a visit!

Restaurant has the WORST service ever. Waiter and waitresses are so ignorant and inattentive. Takes the waiter 10 minutes to serve tap water but could serve a table that ordered their drinks after us first.

Food wise, Pho was good but their Mi Xao was just bland and tasteless. Nothing to shout about.

Would never come back again. If you ever want to get your Vietnamese food fixed, head to Tra Vinh. By far the best Vietnamese food in Perth. U&I is just a waste of time, effort & money.
Pris
3.2 rating
It's ok but one of the cheaper feeds after 10pm
If you are sick of bar food and McDonald's.
Food is 3.0 rating on average but certainly made higher because it's open 24hours. It's something to support in Perth!

We ordered broken pork chop rice x2, Vietnamese rolls(2 per portion) and Vietnamese bun with lemongrass beef. All total came to about $44.50 which is cheaper than ordering 3 mains and rice at late night Chinatown ($55 approx on average).

Broken rice was not the best we have had but rice paper rolls were packed tight (didn't fall apart) and lemongrass beef was quite tasty.

Will be back at 3am one day...

Annee Kim
Me and husband went to this Cafe at 2am in the morning (because it is open 24/7). We ordered our favourite dish which is pho. The broth was nice but a bit too oily and the noodles were all stuck together - as if it had been defrosted... I was expecting for a better quality dish presented from this Cafe as a lot of people had recommended me this place... I was really disappointed. The other experiences that we had with this Cafe also been the same.. In my opinion, this Cafe was the worst place I had pho in my life
I Love My Food
Very average Vietnamese restaurant with terrible service!

Went there for a late night Vietnamese fix with a group of friends and we could understand Vietnamese unbeknownst to the staff.

We heard the staff swearing amongst themselves whilst serving us and about us as to why we were eating at such a late time - pretty terrible considering they work in a 24hr restaurant!

The terrible service made the the terrible meal taste even more terrible!

Get new staff. Teach them manners and work on your cooking!

Brian Parker
If you a noodle soup lover then U & I is for you. Vietnamese Pho in every conceivable option. Casual dining and big groups possible. Good quality food at reasonable prices, with acceptable service.

30/08/2015

I'm really disappointed with this places customer service lately, my friends & I have been coming to this place since they have opened & each time in the past the food was great & the service was good as well.

Last night we went here & I asked for hot sauce. The waitress said "yes" & then walked away, 10 minutes later she never came back. I saw her walking around & called her over again then to ask for hot tea & soy sauce & remind her that I had asked if I could have some hot sauce, she then said "yes" again and walked pass an older waiter, pointed at us & told him that we needed service. He then came over and asked me if I needed service and I told him that I had asked the waitress for hot sauce, soy sauce & hot tea. These things should all ready be put out on the table but that wasn't my issue. I can not believe the laziness of some people... She avoided our table all night & then my friend found a quarter of an egg shell in his noodles, he did not care & just ate around it. When I had mentioned it to them I had made it discrete, they decided to be nice to us then & offer us a free meal. We did take the meal but it's really disappointing that it took them to mess up the meal for them to be polite to us? I really like the food here but I don't like the customer service of the girl that work there. I don't care if the sauce isn't put out on the table or if there are egg shells in the food, i'll just eat around it. The only problem was the customer service & being ignored or hand balled to another waiter cause you didn't want to serve us. Overall the food was great but I hope next time the staff are more helpful.

Best Banh Mi in Perth!!!! Soooo good. The ingredients all work together perfectly and are all fresh and tasty. The rolls they use are very traditional and authentic. Really good price as well.

... the Pho is decent, certainly not anywhere near the best in town but undoubtedly better than the dodgy donner kebab you’d most likely otherwise be eating. On the plus side, they make great freshly squeezed juices and smoothies and the banana, pineapple and mango number that I had was huge, tangily delicious and a very reasonable $5. If you’re in the mood for something stronger the alcoholic drinks are also reasonably priced too. They did forget our drink order, but at the end of the day it’s a place where you can get decent, reasonably priced food and drinks at any hour of the day or night, so in my book that makes it a total winner. Something that U&I can both enjoy (and you thought you were going to get a pun-free entry! Ha! You should know better than that by

Bad service, got the menu wrong many times. Food was average, ate with friends said their food was uncooked.

Poor & slow service.. I decided to try out "u & i" restaurant perth. And it has top my worse restaurant experience in Perth and maybe even Australia. The staff wasn't very welcoming and friendly. Didn't even seem they wanted to be there in the first place. And even ordering a beer and wine took them nearly 45 mins. I thought they were on the way to Mexico to pick up a fresh batch for me. And yes there weren't even busy at all. As for the food. It wasn't traditional asian taste. Felt like I was eating a soaked oil sponged cake. Do not recommend anyone.

Lovely Compact, Taste, Street Food Meal (Bahn Mi) and Great Value. I was looking for a another restaurant which happened to be closed so I stumbled upon the street side sandwich bar (not the sit down cafe) and was immediately drawn to the different bahn mi varieties on offer. I chose the pork with the optional chilli and waited a few minutes while it was freshly prepared. Walking back, I munched on it. Pretty good bread roll but nothing like the baguettes at Le Vietnam, this bahn mi was packed with ingredients. The tender pork was like slow cooked brisket, tender and falling apart. A lovely pate, carrots, and coriander, plus the chillies for some kick, and this was a compact, tasty, street food meal and great value at just $6.50.

Good All-Around Night, Might Try Something Else Next Time. I was here last night for a friend's birthday, and being a fan of Vietnamese food, I was looking forward to good food and company alike. We got there at around quarter past 6, most guests would arrive over the next half an hour or so, there were around 50 of us in total.

Service was good, considering how many of us their were, they had to bring out our drinks and meals alike in batches, but very good, no meals were sent to the wrong person (as far as I know) given how there was not just our large group, but the place was rather full (it was Chinese New Year and the Fringe Festival).

When it came to ordering, there was SO much choice! I decided to go for the duck set meal, which came with miso soup, rice and salad. Salad was some onion/carrot, tomato and cucumber, the rice was a bit sticky, but cooked fine, miso soup was nice and hot, and the duck was tasty enough, although a bit hard to get off the bones, some of which were tiny. I don't have duck too often, so I don't have much to compare it to. Drinks were nice and cold

I'd give the food (at least what I had) 3 stars, but the service (partiuclarly how busy it was), choice (everyone seemed to enjoy their food) and the fact that it's 24 hours puts it up another star. I would definitely come back, but perhaps try another dish (two of my friends had the Mongolian Beef, and that did look pretty appetising!)

Really loved it. We didn't plan on eating here but we were walking by and it looked quite nice so we dropped in for dinner. i'm so glad we did as we all really loved it. There were 4 of us so we shared a couple of entrees and had 1 main each with some sides, everything that came out was gorgeous, really fresh, nice presentation and piping hot. every dish was a very generous size, one of the sides was kailan with oyster sauce, i have never had such a large portion as a side dish before, needless to say i ate most of it as it was gorgeous.

After reading some other reviews i guess to be 100% honest, the food did come out at slightly different times and yes the drinks delivery was very slow but it wasn't a major problem. The staff were all also very friendly and helpful so i can't agree with the other reviewers that said the service was terrible as ours wasn't. Maybe we were lucky, who knows but e will definitely be returning here for sure.

Poor service. The sercice at this restaurant is usually good but on busy days with a full restaurant the service is extremely poor. When it was busy we waited 10min to be seated, an hour for out meals which we had to remind them of our order. Disappointing
Spoon
Not great service, waited for drinks some they forgot, removed our utensils holder before entrees never to bring it back, food was lacking some love and freshness that Vietnamese usually has, 20 minute wait to pay the bill topped it off as a no return.
Nic
Horrible, horrible, horribleeeeeeeeeee customer service!!! Waited half an hour for drinks, no ice bucket for the white wine, waited for over an hourrrrrrr for a very VERY average meal.... Will never return to this establishment and am so appalled by the horrible service, I mean I know this is Perth but wow - this place has just taken the cake
Pennae
Went in a group of 5 - the food was better than the drinks, which were all a bit average. Not the place for cocktails! But for reasonable Vietnamese dishes at OK prices and no waiting around for a table? Win.
Roo
Nah. I've had a lot of Viet food as I'm Viet myself and this is terrible. Everything is so basic and unflavorsome. You can get Viet food around Perth for this price and it is fresher and of higher quality. The only thing it has going for them is the fact that it is 24/7 which you can probably imagine why the food tastes bad too. They have a great concept with indoor and outdoor seating reminiscent of the Vietnam cafes they just need to step up their food game. But I'm guessing if you are drunk and it's 2am you're not really looking for flavour. Eh not for me though

Best Late Nite Place in Perth. Perth after 10pm is a no go zone for diners. You have Billy Lees, Moon Cafe or U&I Pho. U&I is my choice for a good late nite meal. And by late night I mean you come in two or three in the morning and the quality of the meal is a s good as at lunchtime or earlier, with full menu and drinks. This is better than busy Billy Lees, or noisy Moon.
Joy
Lifesaver :). The fact that this place is a 24 hr cafe is beyond epic! You can get food anytime of the day and luckily so as I wanted a fast but delicious dinner at 10pm and U&I certainly satisfied my hunger! Ordered "pho ga" and durian shake. Their durian shake is literally the best drink EVER!!!!!! So so so good and their broth for pho ga was epic, so much chicken breast as well. Overall just a lovely place to go if you have no idea where you want to eat when you're at northbridge :)

Thanks U&I for being my lifesaver!

Good enough... I ordered the mixed beef noodles ($12) after an earlier breakfast that left me still hungry. Lots of noodles and fresh vegetables, but the portion of meat was too little. I find the soup not robust enough too. Well, cannot complain much for the price, the location and 24 hours!
Lolo
Unbelievable Viet Noodles. We have purchased the our deal coupon for 2. Exciting to go there.

I won't say this is good but the portion was big. We ordered beef combination noodle soup and stir fry beef with rice noodles. I only can said Not NOODLE soup, which is like beef combination soup, less noodles . Also, the soup base was pure light. Stir fry beef with rice noodles was same, less noodles extra beef.

We were thinking do we order the noodles soup???

Service was good and nice. Good place for take away because you can add more noodle when at home.

The food here was pretty good, however the service was absolutely horrible. Had to ask three times from different waiters to get some water..

Good Food... but don't expect great service. - Like the food.... been greatly improved since they opened.
- Love the fact I can come down at 1am and not have greasy chinese or Mac Ds
- Service could be more improved.... need to wave them down a few times before the come over to the table.
- Sometimes they forget our drinks & meals.... many times I have to watch my friends finish their food before they brought mine out (Yes, I have to remind them) Maybe it's late at night and they're lacking sleep lol

But bad service can be forgiven - food and opening times make up for it =P

Nice food , very peaceful and relaxed atmosphere . great for catch up with friends or simply working on your laptop as they have free wifi .
Reasonably priced . Love there outdoor dining area .

These guys started making banh mi Viet rolls... And please stop! $6.50 for a thin French baguette.. It might be traditional but I didn't like it at all.

Never been here before but walked by a few times. Appearance is nothing fantastic but we were looking for some Vietnamese food & decided to try. Initially difficult to get any attention to find us a table but eventually got waitress's attention. Starters were 2 soups & 2 satays. Did not arrive at same time but all were excellent quality. Ordered 4 mains + noodles to share and timing was much better. All dishes were excellent quality (particularly shaking beef) and generous portions. We will return

Great, but can be inconsistent. This place is a great idea and very convenient. Very nice restaurant and I've always been lucky with great service.

I've had some excellent phở here, one of my favourite soups in town along with Viet Long in Newpark, Girrawheen. The pork chop and broken rice was also very good and it's great to have a beer menu along with it.

It's wonderful to have a place like this open 24 hrs here in WA, I'm always happy to have it as a genuine "go-to" option.

I do feel however, that on some nights, the food is not as good as other nights. Possibly the kitchen struggles a bit when it's busy?

Otherwise, it's one of my favourite spots in town.

The reason we can't have nice things.... The bad reviews on this page are further evidence of the reason why Perth sucks and will continue to suck. If it's good it's too expensive, if it's cheap it's not good enough. I've had some good and bad meals here, but the bad ones have always been when I've got a bit too adventurous and gone out of my comfort zone. And at twelve bucks a throw, who cares? U & I are generally awesome, open all the time, serve pretty damn good booze selections and still do wedges and things for your embarrassing white-trash friends. So you can pick it apart and then moan about how Perth is boring and nothing is open late, or you can accept it for what it is and enjoy it.
RenaeB85
Lots of bad reviews that I wasn't aware of prior to stumbling upon this place. But this place is epic. We had the spring rolls, salt and pepper chicken (watch out for the chilli as they're super liberal) beef and black bean and a generous serve of steamed rice to share.
An amazing feed after 11pm and we were sober so I feel as though this a legit review. Great place!
Amaterasu
I dont understand of all these bad reviews, might be a bad luck for them, but seriously, my first time when i went there, i wasn't even expecting a proper standard quality food or even dining area/service, but WHOA. Total mind blowing! Food was amazing, service was exellent, and dining area is polished clean! Impressive.

Good food and location. Vietnamese food in Northbridge is hardly a ground-breaking concept, but U & I has done a good job at creating a new atmosphere and of course their main draw - it's open 24 hours. If it's not too hot or cold, I highly recommend sitting outside (people watching in Northbridge on a weekend-night is surely going to be entertaining!) When it's very busy the staff are stretched a bit thin, but I found them all to be very friendly. I'm no expert on Vietnamese food but I thought everything was tasty and fresh.

Edit Nov 2015 - after visiting somewhat regularly (at least twice a month), U & I has possibly the most inconsistent service I've encountered. On a weekday it's great, but they still haven't figured out it's busier on the weekend. Last time I was there was on a Saturday night, it was about 80% full and they had maybe 4 staff working. We were initially ignored, and they completely forgot to bring an item. I probably won't be returning.

Above average pho, at all hours. But poor and inattentive service, and a really unclean and disgusting dining area, which is in serious need if an overhaul.
Logam Punyanitya
Good pho tai, good service, love the fact that its open all the time..

Just had lunch with gf, shared a beef stew and added a baguette roll, also had entree of fresh roll and che dessert.. meal was tasty, roll was so fresh and baked on premises, had to commend the chef.. lunch total was $25, very impressed!

The food gave me the runs for one entire
day following our meal. Thanks for the colonic irrigation. The food did not make
this experience worthwhile.

Fresh. Love this place. The staff are very friendly and the food is authentic. Well priced aswell! Definitely go back numerous times.

Great food - huge difference from when it first opened - soups are great as are all dishes with the quail and soft shell crab real stand outs. Reasonably priced drinks and big serves of good quality food. Hope people who tried it early on try it again because big change. And-- it's 24h!

Great Pho. My friend and I are on a quest to find the best Pho in Perth. We decided to check this place out. To be honest my expectations were not high. To our pleasant surprise, it was one of the best Phos we've tasted so far in our hunt, and we must have tried at least 6 - 7 place before that. For us, the 1st test was the broth which had to be rich in flavour but still light. Tick. It was flavourful and not oily. Secondly it is the rice noodle. The texture has to be smooth and springy, not soggy and limp. Tick. Last but not least, a generous serving of beef. Tick. Service is good too which was also another pleasant surprise.

Dinner Sat 19 Oct. Had dinner last night . Spicy Beef Pho and my partner had $18 set menu dinner.

Both of us barely talked during dinner as we were to busy both eating the yummy food.

Great value, great flavours! Nice interior! Friendly staff.
Will be back!
Jay Cee (Stripey)
Great value and atmosphere, left an object at my table and one of the waiters came running to me to give it back, Awesome

Very happy with the place. Good food, good value, friendly and efficient service, staff were very efficient. The place is nice and at a good location. The best thing is that it's open 24 hours. Will definitely be going back!

Worth a try. Monday public holiday, restaurant hopping in Northbridge, decided to pop in to have a taste of the stuffed chicken wings and broken rice. Food was ok, a bit pricier than every other Viet joint but that's to be expected from somewhere that's open 24hr. Service was a bit slow, however I would come back here to chill in the (rather relaxing) alfresco area when I feel like some Viet food without being cramped into a noisy, bustling restaurant.
Msasa Tree
Great location. Well priced & good choice menu. Excellent service

Always disappoints. Every time I have come here the food has been bad. And the only reason why I keep coming back here is because the people I'm with want to go there and there's not much else open at 3:00 AM.

Every time I've had the pho ($12) the broth tastes of nothing but water and the che 3 colour ($5) is a tiny portion compared to other Vietnamese restaurants for the same price and significantly of less taste and quality. Also, they don't sell rice dishes at night (my friend was unable to order com tam) on Friday's and Saturday's even though technically it was now Sunday seeing as it was 3:00 AM.

The service is always average. Last night the waiter took 3/4 of our menus away (we were a table of 11) and never returned them because they were running out of menus for other tables. And one person at our tables waited for chillies for so long that by the time they waitress finally bought them to the table his food had gone cold (mind you it wasn't busy and it was clear that she had forgotten).

I would have rather just gotten a kebab.
GavyGav Bellinger
Like! Should re name 2pho hour! ;-)

Good value. Service was a little slow but for $15 my chicken curry was amazing. Coffee also very good and overall very satisfied with my dining experience. Will be sure to return.

Tough Tofu!. This restaurant must have deteriorated drastically since some of the rave reviews were written!
My partner and I ordered the vegetable curry, probably not the best choice in a Vietnamese restaurant but a difficult dish to do badly I would have thought!
Besides the flavour being very 'thin' the (previously) deep fried tofu in the dish was as tough as old boots!.....couldn't cut it or chew it!
We put this fact to the waitress and she immediately took it to be replaced.
When the dish arrived the tofu was exactly the same!
Discussion at bill paying time was totally unsatisfactory! When we suggested that it was unfair to charge for such an inedible dish, there was no apology or admission of fault.

Rice porridge with Chicken. I love their Chao Ga (Chicken rice porridge) especially when you get it with those long oily pastry things (really good, don't know what their name is though).
I like the presentation of their various Che as well. Don't eat the pho and such, it's not that great. I only ever come to eat the rice porridge and have some dessert.

Had dinner here tonight. Great food. Friendly and professional staff. Excellent price. Wonderful location. Will visit again for sure.

Best ever. Just had my wifes bday party at this restaurant and had the best night. Great food, great ambience and friendly staff.

I will never eat here again EVER!. We came here one night because my Dad wated to try something new (we normally ALWAYS go to Saigon at 101 James St).

We were VERY disappointed with U & I.

The service at U&I was VERY slow. Our steamed rice turned up 30 MINUTES BEFORE our mains arrived! So it was cold and awful.

The rice paper rolls were not made to order and tasted bland. The sauce was bland, no chilli.

The decor is nice, but it's all cheap stuff that will age soon.

Do not eat here unless it's 3am in the morning and you are desperate. But even then, why not go to Uncle Billy's in China Town instead.
Chicken Teriyaki Boy
Cracking pho!. They serve beer, pho and are open 24hrs a day. what's more to say? i back this joint wholeheartedly.

Excellent place to eat. We stayed in Perth for 5 nights and ate at the U&I Café 3 times. The food is fresh and simply superb, the servings are large, the menu is extensive and the price is really moderate. Finally, the staff were just great. Highly recommended.

DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!. Went to "U & I" last night and I was surprised at the amount of waiters/waitress there was yet we didn't get a menu until 20min's later, then when we ordered it took them 45min for the food to come out, one of my girls ordered "Pho Dac Biet" and it came out with the normal "Pho" and it did not taste like it at all, My other girl ordered rice with pork and fried ice cream as a dessert yet the fried ice cream came out before her meal?

Then when we asked them nicely if they can put the fried ice cream on hold the waitress gave us a dirty looked and sighed as she stormed off.

Money is spent better else where, would not recommend.
Hippokathy88
Really bad pho. It was the 3rd time that I had pho here and I think the quality is just going down. My boyfriend ordered Banh Canh and he's got the soup for Hu Tieu, they just put Banh Canh noodles in there. If you're Vietnamese you should know the soups for the 2 dishes are completely different, you can't just put a different type of noodles in there and make it a different dish. I ordered a Pho Dac Biet (Combination Beef Noodles Soup) and in my bowl there were beef balls, beef tripes and... sliced pork? The soup had no flavour and the broth wasn't even fragrant like the other times. When I complained the staff was very apologetic and said she would have a word with the chef. They still charged me full price tho? But whatever it wasn't worth the argument.

Average I had high hopes for this place. It was my first time yesterday night and the restaurant was really pretty. I ordered pho and like most pho it's delicious. So while I was waiting with my mum our pho was ready but the waitresses are so damn annoying our table was 14 and she kept saying this is order 19 I said no its table 14 but she said I meant on the menu but who cares give us our damn food. I had my pho the meatballs tasted so bland there was barely rice noodles it was half noodles half onion. I'm thinking discusting gross ewwww its joke. But the soup was good. Mostly I hated the hovering waitresses walking up and down to us saying this is order number this that, like shut the hell up I don't care I just want my food.

Not Terrible... But it wasn't really that great. The service was on the ball, the atmosphere nice, but if the food doesn't tick the boxes I'm not happy. My bun bo hue was just lacklustre. The main issues were the soup, which didn't have any depth of flavour and the pork and beef were tough and full of gristle.

My friend enjoyed her Mi Xao and the spring rolls were reasonable. I'll probably give it another chance, because I love the 24 hour pho promise, but I won't be hurrying back.
Lilly
Meatball and beef soup. This place reminded me of a restaraunt in Europe, maybe its the outdoor setting and tv's. The pho I got was OK, should have got it without the meatballs. The service was fine. Would recommend for a cheap and nasty feed. Wasn't amazing but wasn't so bad either!

Great food, best value and lovely staff. And 24 hour... Will definitely be back!

Food passable only when intoxicated.. Had a bowl of pho there one saturday night after a night out on the town and it was really quite poor..but being mildly drunk and hungry, it served. Wouldn't go there otherwise.

Great night!. Having an awesome night with my colleagues at U&I!

Great service with fun and friendly staffs here. Food is ok with the price though the stock in the hot pot stock is a bit salty

Great drinks and I definitely fall in love with the Malibu & Midori here. Will definitely come back again with my friends

Perth needs more 24hr eateries, so I was eager to try this place. My wife, a couple of friends and I came down on a Tuesday evening and was surprised and excited to see it was fairly bustling in the Restuarant. After ordering our mains and drinks, there was a 40 minute wait before we saw our food! When the food did arrive my $12 bowl of Pho looked like it was a kids meal, a bit of noodles submerged in what looked to be 1/4 bowl of soup! Now being vietnamese myself I'm often quite critical of Vietnamese food however this was probably the worst pho I've had in Perth, bland and totally not worth the $12. Then there was the drinks debacle, we checked on our drinks at least four times, and every time we got the response it was coming. We had finished our meals and waited 10 minutes before we received our drinks. My custard apple shake was terrible, it tasted like a spoonful of custard apple with lots of water and ice, bland and undrinkable. We left U&i shaking our heads, disappointed and still hungry! I don't think I will be back here anytime soon, I would urge anyone wanting good quality Viet food to venture up the road to Lido or Tra vinh, where fantastic food and service is always consistent! Lift your game U@i otherwise you won't be around long.

Good price but bad service. PROS
1. fast service
2. friendly staff
3. good price
4. great serving size

CONS
1. the worst thing is when the entrees main meal AND dessert comes out all at the same time (Sometimes the main meal before the entree)
2. not enough table space
3. kitchen door was open, so could see different people walking in to 'taste test the food...not really sure whether the people are workers or not (no uniform)
4. terrible desserts...who uses pear and orange in a vietnamese dessert....i would have used lychee, jackfruit, pawpaw, mango, dragon fruit...etc
Jaymes Brown
Really, really bad service. One main came 5 minutes after ordering, then the entree 45 mins later. Still waiting for my main.

Not authentic and expensive. Our beef noodle soup tasted like normal Campbell's beef stock

Sunday afternoon my partner and I stumble across this joint. To our surprise we really liked it, outdoor dining was very pleasant.
BYO $2 per bottle.
Very reasonable pricing.
Tasty food.
However, poor service w very little English spoken. We will be returning

I understand that you guys just opened for a week. Best food I've had in the area. I'll come back soon with all my friend. That is the best you can do. Good service and good food.
David Tran
For a new business you would hope that the service is of a high standard. Food took over 30 mins for dishes that would normally take 10-15 minutes. No tea or water was offered. Drinks arrived towards the end of the meal. Rubies cloud desert drink had a giant lump of mung bean. Sorry, U & I never again

WHAT THE PHO...?. Seriously, there were so many elements that went wrong in our dishes that I don't know where to start.

Apart from an entree salad, my gf ordered a bowl of Pho while I ordered Bun Bo Hue. Since the restaurant advertised itself as "24hrs Pho", we were expecting delicious soup and high quality dining experience. Unfortunately, our dishes fell short by miles.

The entree was a complete joke. Firstly, it arrived after our mains. We initially wanted to cancel it from our order but the waitress insisted on serving it to our table and it eventually made it. Looking at the salad, my first response was," Bloody hell, 15 bucks for something that I could have made better by myself at home?!!" The salad lacked dressing, texture and presentation. Steering far from the traditional Vietnamese salad, Iceberg lettuce was used instead of cabbage. There was nothing positive to talk about in this dish. Let's just say we could have gone without it.

The main highlight, Pho. The soup smelled great when it arrived at our table, we were excited about digging into it. In Vietnamese culture, adding mint, bean sprout, thai basil, chillis and lemon to the soup help enhance the flavour and texture of the meal. Surprisingly, the soup was near tasteless even after the addition.

As a connoisseur of Bun bo hue, I was truly disappointed....no, I should say disgusted by the dish. The soup tasted as though it came out from powdered stock cubes. The pork slices and slices of Cha lua were tasteless. In fact, what I received were mostly sinews and off cuts. It was definitely not what I was expecting from a nicely furnished and recently opened restaurant. At an Urbanspoon rating of 61%, I should not have visited this restaurant.

No offense to the user whose in laws were impressed with their food, I was really surprised by your comment. In fact, it was your comment that inspired us to give it a try. We know that particular spot has housed numerous terrible restaurants in the past and I have to say "U & I Cafe" still has not broken the curse. For all Urbanspoon users, I advise you not to waste your time and money on this restaurant. I love Viet food and I crave authenticity however, "U & I" has definitely lost my vote.
Caz Parker
Great coffee too!. I was impressed with the helpful staff when I ordered a coffee and realised I had no cash, they waived the $20 minimum EFTPOS so I could pay for my coffee (I obviously really needed that coffee!). The coffee was really good too.I'd go back just for the coffee.

The cafe is very big with plenty of indoor and outdoor options, shady tables outdoors or comfy alfresco casual settings in the open and nice upholstered seating indoors. I ended up going back for lunch and enjoyed a Vietnamese pork and prawn salad which was very tasty and fresh. Prices are very reasonable.
Lydia
U & I Cafe. This new cafe has only been open for 3 days and i have already been there twice!!!! their Vietnamese food is the best I've had in Perth and that's coming from a really fussy eater! Love it there and will definitely be back for some more, Num Num :)))
Sam Daly
Unexpectedly nice and authentic. Tried this place with the in-laws (who are Vietnamese and tough critics) and we were impressed. It is a 24hour Pho place that is the next attempt to make fist of a location that has housed some terrible restaurants over the years (think Vultures, Bell Tower cafe). I had a nice Pho Tai, authentic and fresh ingredients. I will be back and it seems will be the business most likely to succeed in this location.
Amanda Le
Nice atmosphere. The food is really good and good prices too. Will definitely be coming back here

I got hooked on U&I for the first couple of weeks of its opening. I literally visited the place 8 times in a short period of time ...to a point of "facial recognition" by the owner and staff there...

I have been past U&I Pho 24 a couple of times and I’ve always wanted to go in and try their Pho. I wasn’t disappointed. I tried the Mi Do Bien Kho along with Fresh Spring Rolls and Stuffed Chicken Wings. When they appeared I couldn’t wait to tuck in. The Pho was great...
Late one Friday night we cycled into Northbridge and discovered this 24 hour restaurant, U & I Cafe. I ordered an icey Vietnamese dessert and DD went with a beer. The service was excellent and it was a nice place to have a refreshment at an odd hour, particularly it was perfect not to be in a club or bar. U&I Cafe have a full menu including alcoholic drinks and coffee. The alfresco area is spacious and has a glass barrier which is handy with the amount of people that pass by, those cocoon looking chairs are also very comfortable. I really hope that U&I Cafe has some success as it can be very difficult being a 24 hour eatery, you cater for such a diverse amount of people. 24 hour places are often dark and rather seedy but U&I Cafe is very welcoming, the decor is neutral and warm. Minor Information Open 24 hours in Northbridge BYO Wine Only Gluten dishes available All day breakfast is served for $18.00 Location 45 Francis Street Northbridge Urbanspoon Reviews

...you can enjoy your morning coffee, Vietnamese style, drip filtered with a generous slug of super-sweet creamy condensed milk. You can have it over ice (which is listed on the menu), or hot – as we attempted to ask for. Luckily our patient waitress was totally on board with my inability to describe what I wanted that early in the mo

Winter is the perfect time for soup. Whether it be chicken and vegetables, maybe tomato or pumpkin or something slightly more exotic like the rich spicy flavours of a laksa, the noodley goodness of a ramen or as the case was for me on a recent Wednesday evening a Vietnamese pho. Phở is a Vietnamese noodle soup consisting of broth, linguine-shaped rice-noodles, a few herbs, and meat. My friend, Miss P, and I catch up every few weeks and it appears that Northbridge has become our chosen destination. Fairly central and options a plenty. Our last catch up had been at Guzman y Gomez , but it was as we left there that we decided that we’d give the relatively new 24 hour pho place, U&I Café a go. Miss P had been previously and gave it positive reviews, so I was keen to head along and give it a try. The first thing that struck me on arrival was the sheer size of the place. U&I is situated where Vultures once was and it is a massive restaurant. They have a large outdoor eating area ,before
Foodie Cravings
Not a fan. I was served someone else's pho which I thought was mine until I was asked "have you had it yet" when I said no it got taken away to another table (mind you I did poke it with my chopsticks so the meat would cook). burger boy also had his dry noodle dish served with soup and the staff member looked like he was hoping I would say we would have it when I told him the order was incorrect. The last straw was when I squeezed an already squeezed lemon. The pho was ok, apple custard tropical milkshake tasted just like milk and although it was just $36 I won't be rushing back.
The Food Pornographer
We enjoyed our food and will probably return at some stage to try the Day Menu, though we won't be rushing. I'm thrilled that we've now got 24-hour Vietnamese food in Northbridge, but frankly, it will take more than the lure of an all-hours kitchen to make the most of that great location. At lunch and dinner time when all the neighbouring dining options are available (including Phong Vinh and Viet Hoa not so far up the road) and the most punters are out and about looking for a feed, U & I will need to do better if they are to compete.
