Review Sedap Place - Perth

Food is tasty and authentic. Moderately priced. Unfortunately so authentic we both had a bout of gastro afterwards. They really need to fix their new ordering system: 6 sticks of satay shouldn't take an hour to deliver to the table. If they solve their service issues we'll be back regularly.

Cute place with very accommodating and friendly servers. The food was tasty and authentic. Wait time wasn't too long. Would definitely come back

Really tasty comfort food! Mee Goreng was tasty, fried chicken was full of tasty spices and flavours although unfortunately it was served cold. Beef rendang was nice and tender and had some good flavours, but tasted like it was missing an ingredient. Roti canai was okay, mostly crispy bits and not a lot of soft bits. Tap water was lukewarm, but air conditioning was fine. No lunch specials unfortunately. No surcharge for containers!

Our first time dining out for 2022 and this place is still as tasty (probably a bit more tastier) then the last time. Which is good for a restaurant as the food is consistent. Everything we had from the satay chicken, Nasi Lemak, chicken skin, kwetiao, fried rice even the ice kacang was pretty tasty. This place is known for their teh tarik tower and you can’t go without ordering one if you came in a group. Happy and satisfied after finishing our meal here. 5 ⭐️

I wish could’ve found this place earlier 🤥. The FOOD is absolutely delicious and serving size is great. This is our regular restaurant now and gonna try every single dish on the menu. I would definitely recommend to try once if you haven’t and you will be coming again and again to try other dishes 🥰

Really surprised this isn’t ranked higher? One of the best Char Kway Teows I’ve had outside of Malaysia - The spicy is really spicy the normal isn’t so medium spice is probably the best. The curry chicken is melt in your mouth. The beef rendang is likewise soft with a kick to it. And the fried chicken is even better than I’ve had in Malaysia. Also they do ice Bandung with jelly. Legit flavors of Malaysia. Fresh roti and excellent dips.

Went here for the first time on Saturday for my birthday. Really enjoyed it. To our surprise some friends were on the table next to us. Staff were great. And food was excellent.

The noodles were great and yummy. But the cup for my drink was dirty and stain you could remove by hand 🤚🏻 so it must of been unwashed or something. asked for a replace drink. The chicken satay was nice too but some parts was chewy so im not sure how well it was cooked. 6/10 but will be back

Beautiful spicy malaysian lunch with excellent service (world.s friendliest smile from the door host)... Had the rotai cannai...rotis were perfectly crispy and fluffy; the accompanying lentil side could do with a lil more salt. Also had the shared rice dish with beef rendang (perfect), sambal squid (wowwww), chicken curry (nice but chicken a lil dry) and fried chicken (dry). The pickle and sambal with the rice was delicious. The teh tarik was yummy...tasted different to other ones I've had in KL and Perth...this one tasted more like an indian masala chai. Overall a really great meal...will def return.

This was a tough rating to give. If I was rating on the food alone Sedap Place would have easily received a 5 star rating from me. I was so excited to come check out this authentic Malaysian restaurant in my local area. We were a table of four and we ordered two Nasi Lemak 2 share plates and a couple of roti's on the side. We could not fault the flavours, absolutely delicious and great portion sizes. Really took me back to my childhood days of eating authentic Nasi Lemak for Sunday breakfast, But that's where it ended unfortunately. I am not sure if it was because you guys were extremely busy (as there was a line coming out the door) we were never once offered any tap water, we were asked 6 times in the first few minutes of being there if we were ready to order which made us feel a bit pressured to decide so quickly. I almost got the feeling like it was like a 'get the orders as fast as you can, get the food out as fast as you can and turn the table over' 'just get people in and out' we were also advised that we had 5 minutes left at our table before the next reservation was due to be seated - this would have been completely acceptable if at the time of me booking I was advised that the table reservation I had made had a time limit. We took a little longer then 5 minutes to leave as we still had a our glasses half full and we were constantly stared at with the look of 'please hurry up and leave' which was a little bit uncomfortable. The disappointing thing about this was just behind us was an entire table being occupied by kids of what looked to be employees children playing on iPads and not eating a meal. So to cap it all off, I will probably order from Sedap Place again because the food is Devine 5 out of 5 but may just order as take away to enjoy at home.

We didn't taste the food that good or something amaze us when first visit. The food was ordinary, a bit blunt I might say, we was expecting above ordinary as like others say and plus the way we were waiting for booking make us expecting more than just ordinary. The fact, we found nothing special and a bit disappointing with the sitting and booking system, felt like rushing to eat our meal and also too tight and only small space between our table and next table, no privacy.

Absolutely brilliant food, friendly service, just needed a little prompting re extra plates, cutlery etc. Toddler friendly and dog friendly (outside of course) - provided crayons for the little one and were very nice. Husband asked to go back today for the special chicken dish. The Roti was also do die for. Will be a regular now!

Came here tonight with my partner. We were approached straight away and seated within a few minutes when a table became free. Staff were all lovely and the food was super yummy, and quick! The vegetarian dishes are vegan if not cooked with the optional egg Can't wait to come back and try the Maggi Goreng!

We came here on a Saturday night with our beloved fams. Beautiful place, beautiful service & scrumptious food. The staff was exceptionally friendly & we didn't have to wait long for our dinner. Highly recommended & definitely will come back again. The name of the restaurant truly speaks for itself....SEDAP

We cannot truly bring in the full Asian spice game in this part of the world. Or can we? I guess we can. There is the clientele's palate the restaurant is aiming for, while not forgetting its true Asian roots. That is the point of having an Asian restaurant outside of its territory. Food does stand on its own, for those new to Asian cuisine. The decor and ambience is welcoming. The service rendered, top notch. Thank you. Will spread the good word of mouth, but of course. Try them out!

Appreciate the place was busy and flat out, but plenty of staff on by the looks of things. We waited 15mins after being sat down for someone to take our order, despite me asking staff a couple of times that were ready to order. Nothing major but better comms and duty management needed, especially as the place was starting to empty. Overall great food but as above needs some service improvements. Also ran out of roti, which being a public holiday could have had better planned for stock, specifically came here for the Roti!

A neighbourhood gem which serves authentic Malaysian cuisine, I ordered char kuey teow & teh tarik ice which complemented each other well. The ambience is casual; great for get-togethers, and the restaurant has a baby changing table so don't you worry, parents! I'm so glad this place is a stone's throw away from home. Two thumbs up, Sedap Place!

Had the Curry Laksa and Nasi Lemak Rendang last night. Most probably one of the most comforting meal we've had in a long long time. It was tasty, yummy and they don't skimp on the spices, which is a plus point in my books. We ordered Maggi Goreng to take away as well and although it was yummy, we thoght that the takeaway portions were too small for the price we paid. Even so, we will still definitely be back to try out the rest of the menu!
Michael Cassidy
Food not that crash hot as expected, few of the dishes we ordered were lacking of key ingredients. I seriously think that the chef should try out and taste the cooking before serving the dish to customers. After all you serving to mainly Asian that comes to this restaurant so the taste must be reasonably ok as we all know what we order should taste like.
Su-en Chow
Very authentic dishes with great service. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is keen on tasting some truly Malaysian delights!
Tiffany Su
The Roti Canai is really really really really good and the mamak mee goreng was on point! Service can definitely be improved, would be great once they get a good process/system going.

Went for dinner at Sedap Place, service was good, awesome food! They serve flavorful maggi goreng and nasi lemak that I felt it was even better than some places I had in Malaysia. Love the idea of Milo ice tower! Real authentic malaysian food!

Have been dying to try the food at this place but sadly it didn't meet my expectations. We did a takeaway today and I was really disappointed. The sambal for the nasi lemak and sambal sotong was nothing but spicy and it had this tinge of bitterness. Not too sure whether this is normal. Rendang was bland. No taste of spices. My son was very sad to find the fried chicken very dry and it had hair all over the skin. Really sorry to say we won't be ordering again.

Check this place out - nasi lemak is the best in Perth. Book early to avoid waiting in the queue - its very popular so get there early.
More Than Nourishment
It was a full house on a Sunday night. This resulted in the service being very slow. We had flag the staff down a couple of times to order and there was even a mix up with our food. They were gracious enough to fix it up complimentary.
Nasi lemak with beef randang was delicious. Beef was very tender and full of flavour. What made it was the sambal. The matabak was a let down with the beef version being a bit drier than the chicken. Overall enjoyed the meal and left very full!

I wasn’t aware of Sedap Place until it came up on an Entertainment Book email, so I checked out the menu, it sounded good and we decided to give it a go. It’s on the main strip of Albany Highway among many other Asian restaurants. The menu is fairly typical Malaysian with favourites like laksa, nasi lemak, char kway teow, roti canai, and nasi goreng. I chose a lemon ice to drink, and we started with some spring rolls.
Fatima Moosa De Gois
Curry laksa was the bomb! Only thing is it didn’t have enough chicken. Only two small pieces. Roti Cenai was delicious, soft and flaky! Chicken curry nasi lemak spot on! Awesome Malaysian food! Definitely go back again!
ClydeyP
Really enjoyed the laksa and the Kuey teow! Good authentic food!! Defs dining here again

Had dinner there on a Saturday night. The food was a bit expensive but the taste was not bad.
The sambal, chicken rendang and meehoon siam was pleasant.
What really put me off was the service. Maybe it was a busy night and maybe all four waiters were a bit flustered.

We were seated outside, which was very hard to get the waiters’ attention.

We ordered the A&w root beer float, they then came back to us to say they didn’t had any ice cream that night so suggested we have just the A&w root beer, without offering the menu again, and she seemed abrupt

We asked for water and the waitress didn’t look very happy with that (don’t know why), but she didn’t come back with it anyway

All in all I think the waiters could be a bit more attentive
Jac
Went there today (Monday) at 1:30pm with a friend, not very busy. Ordered soon after arriving. Received first drink at 2pm, first meal at 2:15 and was told it was a meal we did not order and it went back to the kitchen to be confirmed, meal came back but was missing wontons. Waitress offered to have the dish redone or to have wontons on the side. My friend’s meal came 15 mins later but was missing curry chicken and had to be sent back as well. Second drink (peanut frappe which was very nice) came after I had finished my food. Waitress apologised multiple times saying they were understaffed. We got a 10% discount for the wait and inconvenience which we appreciated.

Busy little place. Wow the spicy heat in the food is above what we can take. The squid, marak chicken, samba prawns were all gunpowderrry.
Thank goodness for the ice kacang, iced durian and iced chendol. Real waterfalls for a burning tummy after all that lovely spicy food. You have to do a bit of self service to get things going. Be proactive Also try the char Kway Teow.
MJ Amerito
We are vegetarian - tried the laksa; was soooo salty, could barely get few a through mouthfuls; barely any veg, no spice - just salty coconut soup. Worst laksa I’ve ever had. The char kway teow also had no flavour - just tasted like burnt vegetables. The maggi Goreng was ok but not great. Wouldn’t go back!!

Excellent food, service and decent servings. Best Ice Kacang in town. Mee Rebus and mee goreng sotong was on limited time special. Loved it! Well done Sedap.
Jase
Once was a great place w great tasty food now half the menu is not available , waiters have no idea about what they are selling , others who order after you seem to get their food first , tiny portions, nothing looks like the photos on the menu , eg; all the yummy garnish is totally missing, I left hungry upset and wishing I went further down the road , never again what a shame
Liam Tay Kearney
So impressed by the roti canai/roti telur. Tasted just like being back in SG/Malaysia - pillowy, buttery, clearly prepared by hand...easily best I have had in Perth. Mee goreng mamak was also packed with flavour. Only downside is the rather expensive price.
KG
Lovely food, full of flavour, it took awhile but other than that service was good. The milo tower was absolutely amazing and everyone loved it.
Derek Mar
Was told wait be about 20 minutes. They took my number down so that they could give me a call when next table was free. I never got that call so guess they don't value my custom.

Our family want for dinner at your place and waited for over 40 mins for food to arrived. At the end we just walk out. I am sorry but if your staffs can’t understand plain English when taking orders , they need to be train professionally. Absolutely disgusted with service. Sorry will never be returning to your crap service restaurant.
Panda
Average at best. Teh tarik was way overrated as usual. Nothing special about the food here. Have had better nasi lemak and murtabak elsewhere.
Zizzy
Had the Char kway teow coupled with the Mamak fried chicken. CKT had strong wok infused flavours "wok hei" just the way I liked it and the chicken was infused with a mixture of spices. I had not tasted this flavour before and the experience is very new to me. It felt like the spices was making sweet love with my taste buds. The chicken came late and they insisted to take it out of the bill which was totally unnecessary but much appreciated. I would be back for more!

10/10 service & amazing food at a fair price, 2nd time here and will be back.

Good portion sizes and accurate taste.

Make sure you get a te tarik tower to wash it down!
Tried the recent hype - Assam Laksa which was 3.5/5. In Perth standard, their taste was good, but portion on a smaller scale. Ordered their durian ice kachang which was exceptionally good and value for money hence 4 star.

The aircond is not efficient. Very hot and stuffy restaurant. A lot of flies hovering around the tables. One wait staff needs better PR skills but the other one is bubbly and happy. The laksa is tasty, although the chicken pieces were over cooked. The nasi lemak is OK. Ucha is not.... Not sure what it was. A bit on the expensive side compared to other Malaysian eateries. They charge the 10% public holiday surcharge.

I went to the sedap place for lunch and ordered the beef rendang. It was so authentic!!! Very delicious! It’s a bit pricy, but the ambiance and food quality is great
Red Bean
Lovely place with a bustling crowd. Went specifically to check out their laksa. Nice but nothing mind-blowing and had more of a “curry mee” feel than a laksa. Iced milo was super sweet (not in a good way though). Fried buns with anchovy sambal were yummy. Will return to try other things on the menu but would definitely pass on both the curry laksa and iced milo.
Chung & Sarah
Went for a weekend lunch with the wife.

Really enjoyed the nasi lemak, but couldn't say the laksa was at the same level.

The broth of the laksa was a touch on the thick side but what was more disappointing was that it lacked the seasoning and flavour i was expecting.

Portions were generous, ambience was pleasant also.

I would go back for the the nasi lemak and maybe to try something new.

Clean, spacious, modern interior, friendly staff, and oh such divine food! We decided to get one of each lunch sets (drink and dessert).

We chose the side dishes: curry chicken, beef rendang, and mamak fried chicken. These sides well complemented the nasi lemak. All the meats come boneless, and the chicken pieces were thigh meat.

Their curry sauce was smooth, creamy, not too spicy but more as a "gravy". The fried chicken was super juicy, crispy on the outside, and super flavoursome! Their beef rendang was served cold, but the flavour was still so good! You can actually see and taste kaffir lime leaves in there. The beef was tender too.

The nasi lemak composed of sambal, peanuts, anchovies, egg, acar, and some cucumber - all elements were executed well. The sambal was really aromatic and flavoursome, with a perfect hint of sweetness. It complemented every other element well.

The laksa was served with fish cakes, tofu, and bean sprout. You can really taste the rich creaminess of the coconut, together with the spicy and flavoursome curry taste. It was probably one of the best laksa I've tried here in Perth!

Sago gulamelaka was a warm dessert. The sago was thoroughly coated in the palm sugar syrup so every spoon full was packed with flavour! The sago pudding was also in a pool of coconut milk which really brings everything together.

Can't complain with the the tarik.

The lunch set really makes everything so worth it, and my partner and I were extremely full afterwards! Definitely will be back!

Nice place to have Malaysian street food must try fried bun with chicken curry and laksa, attentive services and friendly staff, for nasi lemak with rendang not really enjoy coz beef rendang very spicy like burn all over my mouth but still I will comeback again 😃
Food Mania
Nice authentic Malaysia foods. service is good. I have been there to eat a few times. A bit pricy compare to some Malaysia restaurant. Overall, it is great to try out.

Came here for lunch on a weekday. Got the nasi lemak to share, roti telur and ice kacang. Full disclosure, I’ve spent a few years in Singapore and am fussy with this cuisine as I love it so much, my palate might be a bit different to the Malaysian style nasi lemak.

Nasi lemak fed 4 of us easily. Rice was coconut fragrant, perfectly seasoned. A winner. The accompanying fried anchovies, peanuts and cucumber were perfect too. The Sambal chilli could have been sweeter, it was quite acidic and not what we were used to with nasi lemak. We got the fried chicken, curry chicken, sambal squid and rendang to go with the meal. Would recommend the fried chicken and rendang (get two of each) - wonderful renditions of each dish. Again the sambal squid was acidic and not that nice, and while i appreciated the chicken curry it was a bit bland to be honest.

The roti telur was flat bread with egg, nice and crispy and very good. The accompanying dhal was scrumptious. The curry was a bit bland and watery again.
The ice kacang was yummy, worthwhile getting it to finish.

Sedap place is a bit pricey but there’s good food here. Service could be improved (empty dishes were left on the table way too long) but there’s a nice vibe and tasty food. Value wise it’s better than Nasi Lemak Korner. Give it a go.
Perth Critic
We ordered the char koay teow, nasi lemak with crispy chicken rendang and the beef rendang nasi lemak burger. All the food taste nice especially the ckt, except that the crispy chicken rendang in the nasi lemak was super salty! Also, they advertised 10% off discount on 31 Aug to celebrate Malaysia's National Day for their Merdeka special menu, for the nasi lemak and nasi lemak burger but only $1.44 off per item when each one cost $15.90. Don't say 10% discount then, just say we won't charge gst.

Was very excited to go to this place being an authentic Malaysian store but I was heavily disappointed. The place was very crampt and I struggled to eat my meal without hunching my body or spilling my soup dish. I had ordered Wanton curry mee, satay chicken and chendol drink. The wanton curry mee was completely out, the soup was too bland and had very minimal spice which I expected from such a famous soup dish. The satay was the worst from my meal; it had no authentic Malaysian taste to it and was again very bland. The chendol was the last part of my drink and was a little better; it had a pleasant taste but had very little jelly and was too sweet in some parts of the drink. Overall was very dissapointed with my meal today and expected more.
Ap
We had the Vegetable Spring Rolls, Mamak Goreng, Slow Cooked Beef Rendang and Char Koay Teow. Food was hot, fresh, spicy and delicious! Portion size was well beyond that expected, especially for the reasonable price! The restaurant was a bit busy, with group bookings taking up the entire restaurant on a Saturday night, so we were forced to sit outside in the cold, but honestly it was well worth it.
Zhang Justin
Went for the lunch, order the lunch special and laksa. Staffs are friendly And helpful. Food is average but a bit salty. Price is bit expensive, probably pay for the atmosphere. Won’t consider going back again
Matty Boi
Awesome little funky place which is very well priced and good quality of food. Best to go with a. Few people to try a few different dishes but the roti was really light and beef randeng was perfect flavoured will go back again. All this food with the entertainment voucher for 66 bucks you can’t go wrong.
Gnetss
The food was delicious! The Char Kuey Teow had enough “wok power” and that charred taste. The 2 good 2 share nasi lemak is enough for even 4 person! and the Cendol drink is a must try!! Good food, good service!
Dee
Dined over the weekend, ordered the beef rendang, char kway teow, vegetarian me goreng and roti. The food was good, only downside was the beef rendang came out spicy hot and it didn’t state that on the menu. The bit that disappointed me the most was that the staff approached our table when we just finished our meals and said they needed the table ASAP as they have people waiting. If you only have a specific amount of time for the booking this should be stated to the customer at the time of making the booking which it wasn’t. For this reason I won’t be returning.
Yaser.remidh
Shocking service disappointing for the past times, long wait to sit take the order and for the food to arrive, rude and arrogant staff......
Eunice
Wonderful experience dining in on a Sunday afternoon with 10 of my other friends! Their teh tarik is on a very sweet side, but I love it. I had the dry noodle with prawn wanton and chicken slices. Love it! Attentive staff and efficient service. Would come back again to use our entertainment book voucher.

I have been here a few times and I always have enjoyable meal. They have great range of food and equally satisfying beverages and dessert to accompany your meal!

Their nasi lemak is really great - with plenty of dishes to choose from! Taste is authentic and yummy. One time they have the rare nasi lemak burger (will post the photo later - because zomato only allow 10 at a time), and it is really good too! They have prata, they have mee goreng, they have curry, man so much to choose from! Their teh tarik (milk tea) is a must regardless of what you are having!

The only downside is the waiting time is a bit long, especially when you look at the attractive food the table next to you are having.
Rckwu
Busy restaurant run my Malaysian Malays. Good nasi lemak and laksa. Desserts not as good. Chendol was tasteless. Service was efficient and good.

Kei
This was my second time here. Had the maggi goreng and roti canai as well as the ice kacang topped off with durian ice cream. They do pretty authentic Malaysian food, better than the likes of Paparich and Nasi Lemak Korner.
Nazira Ziyana
A great place for all ages with great taste of Malaysian foods for sure. While you’re at it, try the curry laksa, nasi lemak, and share the teh tarik tower drink with your peeps. Gotta love this place. Curing my homesick 😂
Bottomlesspit
My friend and I went here for dinner on a week night as it was recommended. The menu was a little overwhelming for us as we had not ordered Malaysian out before so it was quite foreign to us. The waiter was very helpful, happily answering any questions we had about the tens on the menu.

We went for the beef rendang, a combination noodle and the classic roti. The rendang was incredible. So moorish and exploding with flavour. All of the different condiments that came with it each added a great flavour experience. The noodles were delicious and I loved the roti.

I would come back here again!
Reuben Black
Had the Mee Goreng and Nasi Lemak here and was quite impressed. The portion size wasn't too big but it tasted great. Of course had Teh Tarik to accompany it, which was lovely and refreshing on the hot day.

Came here for dinner and the place was packed when we got there. We ordered Nasi Lemak with fried chicken, traditional curry laksa, prawn noodle and deep fried chicken skin. Nasi Lemak wasn't too bad, fried chicken was juicy and it was served with sambal and archar which was spicy and flavoursome. Deep fried chicken skin was very soggy when we got it. Have had better ones at other places. Prawn noodle was a little disappointing. Probably got diluted and can barely taste the prawn broth. Also got their Teh Tarik which was not bad as it wasn't too sweet
Foodie
Been there quite a number of times. Tried most of the items on the menu and tonight I tried something different - Meehoon Siam...it was certainly very different to the typical mee siam I'm familiar with! It tasted more like Singaporean Meehoon with a hint of sourness to it. I wouldn't say I'm a fan of it though...My favourite is still their laksa! :)
Perthfoodie
nice presentation for food.Nasi lemak was looking beautiful and was delicious. food came fair quickly as soon as we ordered. staff were frindly and helpful. maggie goreng was perfect and had so much favours
Food_Glorious_Food
Came for dinner mid week. Place was surprisingly full as it was after 8:30pm (late for Perth!) but we were promptly seated. Menu layout was a little confusing at first glance, but between the 3 of us we settled on seafood curry laksa (pretty good),vegetarian mee goreng (nice) seafood koay teow (a little bland) & the roti with dahl (nice). The food was pleasant enough although nothing to rave about flavour wise, the service was efficient & the place was clean with a generally good feel. If you’re craving a casual Malay style meal with a funkier atmosphere, it’s worth a visit.
Treesaregreen
Wide variety in the the menu selection. We ordered the prawn wonton noodles (wontons were fantastic though I would have liked more of the dark sauce through the noodles) and curry laksa (very flavourful and thick). Would come back to try other things on the menu.

I have been resisting the temptation to eat lunch out for the past few days since Christmas. After trying to eating clean, I had enough of poached eggs and avocado and decided to give myself a treat at Sedap Place. I looked up Instagram and the Nasi Lemak photos made me crave rice, which I had been avoiding. I persuaded my darling to go to Sedap Place. It was clean and the service was fast and friendly. I enjoyed the fried chicken Nasi Lemak, especially the achar and wished there were more. Even the forever picky darling praised the curry chicken. It was indeed Sedap! I will try the roti canai and Char Kway Teow next time.
Frankie
Food was quick and I had the chicken curry laksa. Was very disappointed in the chicken content. 2 pieces of chicken was pretty lame. The sauce was nice and spicy and plenty of noodles. The fish cake and tofu was ok. Hopefully some one was lucky enough to get more chicken in that dish
EpicuriousLady
Went for lunch and the place was pretty busy for a weekday, but there was still a few empty tables available for an impromptu lunch. Had the egg noodles in soy with steamed chicken and prawn dumplings, and the three layer tea. The noodles came with appropriate portions of chicken and steamed Asian green vegetables, and a few prawn dumplings in a broth. The soy based sauce for the noodles was a little sweet and the broth the prawn dumplings also tasted sweet. It was still tasty. The three layer tea was refreshing. Decor is casual providing a relaxing atmosphere for a meal and staff were friendly.

2nd time coming here... love the environment, not too packed and noisy..
3 Layer Tea: best in town so far. Taste just like what I get back in my hometown.
Traditional Ice Kacang: love it, just the taste I like them. The other syrup didn’t overrule the sweetness from the corn.
Prawn Mee: Spicy is good, but taste of prawn not strong at all, and only has 2 pieces of prawn in the dish.
Tangy Sambal Squid Nasi Lemak: Sambal Squid taste a bit weird to me this time.
Roti Telur: roti is good, curry and sauce that came with it were having a weird taste. Not sure how elaborate on that.

Had very tasty vegetarian noodles service very attentive and good no five rating as water glasses received were dirty and had to be returned twice otherwise everything very good
Thekittaysmeow
At first, the prices seem rather steep for a bowl of laksa.. it was ~$16, but the serves are actually quite big, i had three big chicken thigh fillets in my bowl and a mass of noodles! The food itself was not bad, but i have definitely had better laksa. probably wouldnt go back again as there are better places to get laksa such as spencer village around the co4ner
C
The food here is good, but not outstanding. Tried their nasi lemak with fried chicken. The chicken was crispy and the spices on the chicken were strong but delicious. The sambal was really tasty, but the coconut rice was not fragrant enough. The mee goreang mamak was delicious, but it would have been better if it was more spicy. The serving size is larger than most places and prices are reasonable.

After hearing a lot of buzz about this place; finally had a chance to visit “Sedap Place”. The waitress recommended “Sedap curry laksa valcano”- it was an alright dish, nothing special about it tbh. I also ordered the “Vegetarian Maggie Goreng”- which was really good ( probably the best comparing to the other Malaysian places I’ve tried ). I also tried the “Char Koay Teow”- this would be my favourite. I just loved the way they infused the flavour.

The service was great and the food came really quick tbh. The staff were friendly and the ambience was quiet nice.

Unfortunately, it’s not standing out comparing to other Malaysian places. It’s quite similar to “Papa rich” concerning the menu and the price points as well.

I was craving curry laksa and roti so bad so went to this little restaurant for lunch on Sunday. Past by this place a few times and every time there were people waiting outside! Luckily we went early cos this restaurant sure fills up quickly, there were already people waiting outside when we finished! I had volcano curry laksa, roti planta, roti kaya and rose syrup Bandung. Absolutely loved everything! Laksa was rich in flavour and the roti was so yummy! Only thing i didn't like was that my drink was not as sweet as I expected it to be. I guess the less sugar the healthier!
Kiki
Food presentation looks perfect neatly arranged with the ingredients piled on top.
Taste was not authentic at all and did not satisfy my craving for real Malaysian local food like Mee Goreng Mamak and Laksa.
Felt disappointed as menu was deceiving will not return again!

Finally we made it here and it was quite good. The waitress recommended their chicken curry laksa as the restaurant's best seller, it was an alright dish but slightly lack of the curry taste that I'm after and also it was not spicy.
The char kuey teow on the other hand was absolutely an amazing dish, love it and would definitely come back just to eat that. Teh Tarik was good. Reasonable price and friendly plus efficient service.

eat some meals inside and take away a whole bottle of milk tea. told them no ice! it was supposed to be 8cups but i just got 6! ! highly not recommend to all my friends!
Mango The Froot
A little restaurant tucked in the middle of east Victoria park that seems to never slow down. This establishment offers Malaysian cuisine at a price fairly similar to pappa rich in that you are paying a premium price compared to your typical Asian restaurants. My verdict? Surprisingly average.

Mee goreng was tasty. Kuey teow was also okay but I sometimes find this dish to be a little too salty. As for the nasi lemak 2 share, starting with the rice, it is unfortunately not coconutty enough and you can't really smell it when they serve it in front of you like it would in Malaysia. This means it is not 'lemak' (creamy/fatty) enough. The sides are are all just ok but they aren't the most authentic-tasting ones. Fried chicken in particular was really dry and lacks the proper Malay fried chicken taste.

Laksa was ???? as it tastes like eating curry mee because it doesn't have that fish taste, but had an enormous amount of noodles, which is good, BUT if you have too much noodles it will end up soaking the soup which makes it weird halfway through eating it. The prawn mee was a miss, as the prawn flavours of the broth weren't very strong, and frankly, very salty. Roti is great as it is nice and fluffy. Drinks were a hit and miss as some were too sweet and others bitter.

For a place that tries to be premium, food is really average at best, service is rushed, a time limit is imposed to eat, tables are awkwardly too close to each other (no privacy), and very loud as it is small. Not my go-to place to eat if you're planning to pay double the price for an Asian eatery. Modern, yes. Authentic? No.

Great ambience and friendly service. The Nasi lemak was tasty and my husband found the sambal amazing. We also had the volcano laksa which promised cockles but unfortunately there were none. I was then informed by the waiting staff that they haven't been able to obtain cockles recently, and it has been replaced with prawns. I feel somewhat cheated, and suggest that perhaps the menu be altered or customers informed at time of ordering for the lack of ingredients promised on the menu. We also had the roti canai to share which was dry, non flaky and hard... a bit disappointed overall.

Ordered the nasi lemak for 2, but this dish can definitely be shared among 3 small eaters. Overall not bad although rice could be more coconuty and fragrant. The sambal chilli could be spicier and less sweet. The sambal sotong was over cooked and tough which is a pity since that is usually my favourite dish to go with nasi lemak. Curry chicken was really tasty and fried chicken was crispy and juicy. Service was good!

Modern and clean restaurant. Fairly extensive menu. Ordered the volcano laksa but the waiter forgot to tell us they had run out of one of the main ingredients of the dish. They quickly rectified this by letting us take the dish home (takeaway) and order an alternate meal. Nasi lemak was good, rice could have been a bit more coconutty but the rendang was good. Felt quick full and heavy after the meal but to be expected with oily Malaysian food from anywhere.

Finally made it along to Sedap and the first visit was a definite winner! We had the Nasi Lemak, with Macha Curry Chicken, Tangy Sambal Sotong, Beef Rendang, and Mamak fried chicken. (See photo), and I honestly couldn't fault any part of it. The squid was tender and spicy. the chicken curry was really tasty, the fried chicken was amazing, and I'm not usually that big into Rendang but this was one of the best I've had. We also couldn't get enough of the sambal. Really good! The meal could comfortably have satisfied 3 people, but the 2 of us powered through because it was so good. Can't wait to go back and try more. The table next to us had a good looking Mee dish, and the curry laksa volcano sounds good too. I saw a plate of Roti go past that looked a little disappointing (it appeared dense and not flaky) so I probably won't be in a hurry to try that. That's the one negative I have to say and it's not even based on something I tried myself. Service was just fine, and the restaurant itself has a nicely designed interior. Honestly I'm very surprised at the low overall rating it has here at the moment. I wonder if they struggled initially with how busy it was in the first months after opening? Definite thumbs up from me.

Wanted to check what the hype was all about so decided to come here on a busy weekend.

FOOD:
This place easily has the worst laksa in Perth. The waitress recommended this as a best seller, and so we ordered it. The laksa does not carry that certain flavour that laksa is meant to have. It simply tasted like curry mee. There is nothing in it's broth to make it a laksa, and I would know this as I am Malaysian. There was also too much noodles in it, and by the time you get through half of it, you're already sick of it as the noodles get weirdly soggy. Also what's up with the prawns ? Tasted not fresh and definitely from frozen.

We also ordered the prawn mee. The flavours were just OK but was not rich enough. Could get better elsewhere. And also, only three prawns in this. They have the nerve to call this prawn mee and served three frozen prawns ?

Lucky for us the roti held the meal together. It was perhaps the highlight of our lunch. Nice and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.

DRINKS:

We had teh tarik, which was just average. It didn't even have anything to it that made it look like it was pulled (tarik). We also ordered the 3 layer tea which was too sweet.

SERVICE:
The staffs appear to constantly want to clear our plates even though we weren't done. We felt pressured to finish our meal. It seems like they wanted to turn the tables real quickly to make as much money as possible. I don't agree with the quantity over quality attitude that they have here. They also forgot our water.

OVERALL:

I don't get what the hype is. You could easily get cheaper eats around Perth for tastier and better value. The place is often crowded and you're squeezed between others which makes it awkward and uncomfortable. Would not recommend and if you do want to check it out, just come one time and that's it.

Just another Malaysian who lovesss Malaysian food - hence high expectations yes? Firstly, the trending nasi lemak burger (fried chicken) was sooo good - the sauce man idk how you do it but the combination just works; and the bun (not the charcoal) was so soft oml it got me hyped I can't lie + sambal was lit too. The rendang however was pretty disappointing but that's okay. The roti canai wasn't up-to-par I'm sorry guys but it was pretty hard and not as chewy as I expect it to be. The teh tarik wasn't 'tarik' so maybe you could make it more authentic please?😅

Overall, I wouldn't mind coming back. The food was good and the service was great!

Visited this place last Saturday for lunch. We were welcomed with a smile and seated immediately. Staff were considerate and also offered a high chair for the bub.
Ordered roti canai with egg and onion. Too many onions spoilt the roti...
For mains ordered the Ipoh Koay Teow soup with Prawn Wontons. Only 3 prawn wontons in a bland tasteless soup with noodles and sprouts. Lacked flavour and quantity.
Also ordered the traditional Nasi Lemak with curry chicken which was the highlight of the lunch. The quantity was sufficient, price was reasonble, curry chicken and sambal were delicious. Flushed it down with a Milo Dinosaur.
Overall, good customer service by the wait staff with hit and miss food quality.
Will return to try char kway teow and laksa which looked good on the adjacent table.
Neewei94
the food are awesome I like their fried chicken, it really taste good and their maggie goreng, teh tarik, roti canai are very delicious!!!!!

Back from my holidays abroad my Asian glands were lacking their vital vitamins. Craving a noodle or rice dish full of flavour I was recommended to try Sedap Place.
The Nasi Lemak is a food challenge in itself boasting a generous mountain of rice with sides of cucumber, sambal, ikan bilis, pickles and outside was 2 extremely tasty chicken dishes. Quite the challenge for 2 big eaters but a nice share for 3. The staff were very friendly regardless of how busy they were. Would definitely come back again.

These guys do one mean nasi lemak. They aren't trying to reinvent the wheel. Just good old fashioned Malaysian cuisine. Brings me back to my younger days making business trips in KL all those years ago...

Rocked up at Monday 6pm and luckily managed to get in easily without a reservation. Lovely setup, good service. Curry laksa 'gravy' was too thick for our liking. Roti canai itself was fully authentic but lacked the mamak-ness in the dhal. We also ordered the nasi lemak with beef rendang. Rendang was too coconuty and overall curry lacked depth. However the coconut rice and sambal was excellent.

Extra brownie points for the staff/venue for customising some of dishes to be vegan friendly!

Overall, average food for the price. Unlikely to return but still worth a shot.

Service was disappointing. Had asked for a glass of water 4 times. Table was not set had to request cutlery from staff. Food however was amazing. The Laksa was sensational!
Rob
Went for lunch on a busy day. Food reasonably authentic Malaysian although servings a bit on the small side. They ask to clear your dishes 1 millisecond after you have had your last mouthful i.e they want you out and the next lot in. Bad service and most annoying, motto seems to be "we want you in, we want your money and we want you out as fast as possible".

Verdict: So-so, can be better
Ordered: Volcano Laksa, Fried Chicken Nasi Lemak, Mee goreng, Three layer tea
Will I revisit again? : sorry, no
Have heard friends raving to try this place so we finally visited on a Saturday lunch. Service was quick & friendly. Somewhat cramped as the next table is quite near.
Food are well plated up, no doubts. But the taste lacked flavors. Very mild coconut taste in the Nasi, ikan bilis slightly burnt and the chicken came cold. The chilli was good tho. Laksa was ok but I started growing tired eating half of it, this shouldn't happen for laksa. Mee goreng was normal.

Overall: normal food, nothing exceptional, abit pricey for the type of food quality.

Upon the recommendation of others, we dined at Sedap Place. Making a reservation was easy enough.

Upon arrival at our reserved time, at 6pm on a Saturday night, we were told that we had to leave our table in 90 mins.

We found the service a little rushed, as we were asked continually if we were ready to order.

The food was prompt, and delicious. We had to ask during our meal, if the remainder of our order was coming out. Also some of the staff, didn't even know what was on the menu...

I think with time, and more training, the staff can hopefully improve.

But we will be returning, if only for the amazing food.
EHVT
It's too Romantic and too dark, not enough lighting plus black colour menu, really hard to read. unlike other people comment, food comes fast, less than 5 mins after we ordered. Taste is not good, laksa tastes like package ones, and mohoon Siam and kwey Theo taste the same

Nice and cozy place.Great service.quick serve. We randomly found this place and decided to give a try.It doesn't disappoint us. It is crowed even on Monday. Friendly staffs. Teh O is one of my favourites. Will definitely come back again.

I was there on Friday last week. I had a simple meal of Roti Canai. It is a dish that is very easy to mess up with the bread being stodgy or crisp. This roti was one of the best I have had. The accompaniments were tasty and full of flavour. The restaurant was spotless, the staff were exceptional and all in all a great dining experience. I have tagged it as a place we are going back to. The fact that there were a number of Malaysian/Indonesian/South East Asian diners there is also testament to the quality of the food and the dining experience.

Sedap Place is OK. The best "plus" is the price. It's just so reasonable. I was going to say "cheap". But maybe I shouldn't be telling them that. I can't remember the last time I came away from a meal with 7 people where we averaged less than $15 a head. OK we only had mains and roti. But there was plenty of food. And it was reasonably tasty and very quick to come to the table. On the downside, it was all a bit samey. Similar Malaysian flavours throughout But without any real clarity or lift or freshness. And I have to say I prefer a fresher cleaner Thai style laksa with some aromatics or coriander to cut it through, rather than what for me was a gluggy heavy curry style broth. Nevertheless if you want a good fast feed at a cheap price then you'll be happy.
CafeCruiser
I've eaten here three times with family and overall found the food quality and service to be quite good. The nasi lemak with chicken curry was the best of what I ate - the sambal had a good intensity of chilli and the curry had a well rounded flavour. The laksa was also quite enjoyable, decently spicy. The restaurant is a bit cramped and I wouldn't come here at a peak period - we have been placed far too close to other tables for comfort where the conversations become intrusive to each other. I also wouldn't recommend the beef rendang and whilst the sambal squid was tasty, the serve was insufficient. I'd sooner come here than papa rich at least on a quiet day.

The foods and ambience were good! We enjoyed our stay here. Friendly staff and fast service. Booked table for a time and was advised to come early by walk in if required early and ended up waiting extra time beyond the booking time.

food is good but service is very slow...ambience is not good... the crowd in a small place with to much of noise will not leave you to enjoy the yummy food that is been served. Service takes a long while and I got extremely hungry waiting for a long time within the smell around.. not sure if it's worth the wait for a laksa.. Better to take away and enjoy the food at your own pace...

I really liked it here 😊
It was very busy but to me that is always a good thing ! I absolutely loved the drinks however they can be quite sickly sweet , the food was beautiful but spicy ! So be carful when ordering if you cannot handle spice. I will be back here again 😃 the man who served us was very kind and efficient !
Didn't have to wait too long for food considering how busy it was ! Thankyou sedap place for your amazing food 👍🏾

Friendly staff that made the dinning experiences wonderful, especially when you have a 2 year old. Ordered the Nasi Lemak with Ayam Goreng with was pretty good for Perth standard. The star of the dish had to be the sambal. The sambal has a good kick to it which remind me of what i used to have back home. Had the ice Ying Yang (Coffee and Teh) and it was nice and thick. (Similar to Ya Kun in Singapore) ... Will definitely return to try the other dish soon.
Cost ~ 15 - 25 per pax

Went here for the first time early on a Saturday night without a booking with the husband. They told us went we arrived that the table we were at was booked in an hours time so we needed to be out by then, which wasn't an issue for us. Husband had the maggi goreng, said it was "ok". I had the nasi lemak with curry chicken, was delish! Husband kept picking at mine, pretty sure he had food envy. Also got the roti to share, was a good mix of soft and crispy. Will definitely be back

Had the vegetarian laksa and meegoreng, both were full of flavour, made with fresh produce and in generous servings. The restaurant is clean and well presented and the staff are friendly.
Ltp1112
Quite busy on a Friday. Staff were pretty forgetful as we didnt get cutlery and menu until 5 mins of being seated (we were in a queue for about 20 mins) and then another 10 mins for ordering. Despite the long wait, food came out pretty quickly. We had roti, beef rendang and laksa (with chicken) to share between two people (approx $30). Very filling and had plenty of leftovers. It's not the the tastiest Maylasian (curry quite oily and roti bit dry) in Perth but the ambience definitely makes it a great place to catch up with friends/family.

The food that i like the most are mie mamak and paratha. The staffs are friendly and helpful. The place is quite nice. Love their teh tarik tower. It's very unique. Best one!

Tea is very bitter and has a 'siap' after taste. Food tastes ordinary. Very expensive for what you get. Lots of better choices south of river. Will not return.
Jo
Have been dying to try the food at this place but sadly it didn't meet my expectations. We did a takeaway today and I was really disappointed. The sambal for the nasi lemak and sambal sotong was nothing but spicy and it had this tinge of bitterness. Not too sure whether this is normal. Rendang was bland. No taste of spices. My son was very sad to find the fried chicken very dry and it had hair all over the skin. Really sorry to say we won't be ordering again.
The Coffee Devotee
We went for a visit on a busy Ramadan night so we were very glad we booked ahead. There was a line out the door. The Mee Goreng Mamak was excellent: spicy and full of flavour. Drinks were very sweet. Service was good, interior is quite appealing and everything was reasonably priced. Will definitely return again.

First time at Sedap - it's actually not bad!
Had the Char Kuay Teow and Ipoh Kuay Teow soup with chicken slices.
CKT - tasty, generous. A bit too wet = not Penang style. There is "wok hei" and piping hot when served.
KTS - beautiful prawn shell soup. Numerous chicken and fish cake pieces. Too much noodles = soggy ++
Teh Tarik "not too sweet" was to expectation!
Nice atmosphere, fast service. Spacious and pleasant environment. Weird rock music in the background?
Happy. Will come back with friends to try the feast platters!

First time and really really enjoyed our meal, we got the share plate between three people and the char koey teow very very nice!! The beef rendang was delish! Would recommend:)

From the moment we arrived at this restaurant, it was clear to see that the restaurant was constantly busy. We were craving for some Asian fix and manage to get a spot at this restaurant. There are many tables inside the restaurant however there are two tables that are available for outdoor sitting.

Food served here is really authentic. We order our dishes and everything tastes it exactly how it would taste in Asia. The only surprise was the price for these dishes. These dishes are comparable to your local Chinese Asian restaurant, while the price difference is quite a bit full stop dishes ranged from $6 to $18. These dishes could easily be ordered from your local restaurant for prices lower than this.

The environment itself is nice and cosy. However if you were to come as a couple you might be sitting very close to another couple. The table we were sitting at was a little bit wobbly. No biggie but for a shop that has recently just opened you would assume that tables and chairs would be in good working order still.

Service was friendly. Only problem is that it takes quite a bit of effort to get their attention to make your order. We were offered service for our order to be taken when in 10 minutes of sitting down. However we were still looking at the menu and asked for a few more minutes to look at the menu. It was not until 10 minutes later and multiple attempts of catching their attention comma that we finally got our order taken. This may have been the lack of staff that are available to wait on tables.

Definitely will be back. Can't wait to try Teh Tarik Tower.
Nina Mohd Sani
Food was reasonably priced and lots of variety on their menu. Disappointing thing was the restaurant was full so we had to sit outside so I missed out the really nice interior and 2 pages of the drink section from the menu wasn't available which was a shame because I craved one of their smoothies so instead I got the honey lemon ice tea - tasted good but nothing exciting. The food was exceptionally delicious especially the mee siam. With the vegetarian char kway teow, too much bean sprouts and definitely not enough noodles. Will I come back? Maybe.

One place that never seems to slow down is Sedap Place. Everytime I've passed this place there seems to be a crowd trying to get in. So, one day Miss A and I planned ahead and made reservations to try this place. We've heard a lot of feedback about this place, what dishes were popular and what were not so popular. So we chose two of the most talked about dishes. The roti telur bawang and the nasi lemak.
Ilovebeansprouts
First experience here was great that it made us come back with friends. But the recent experiences aren't as great as the first one. The 1st time we came, we had the Nasi Lemak with Beef Rendang and Volcano Laksa. Both tasted great. With nice flavours and aroma coming through the coconut rice and tender beef, we were very pleased. Love the plating as well. Volcano Laksa was flavourful with thick coconut milk. Another winner- Roti Planta.

Recently, we tried the other side dishes to the Nasi Lemak. Curry Chicken tastes alright, but Sambal Squid really miss the mark. Sambal is too watery and squid texture is a little off; doesn't taste fresh. The squid dish also wasn't heated through well and evenly enough. Fried Chicken is a little dry and would have been better if it is crispy. Only highlight of the Nasi Lemak that has been consistent is the Beef Rendang.

Traditional Laksa isn't as good as the Volcano Laksa. Laksa soup is too light and diluted, hence the rich taste that laksas should have is lost.

Drinks wise, we enjoy the Teh Tarik, 3 Layer Tea and Yin Yong.

Staff and service have been great; friendly and welcoming. However, being underwhelmed by the food with most recent experiences, not sure if we'd be back to try them again soon, especially if you have to pay a premium price.

Amazing food, service was so genuine and quick. Such a friendly service team and food was very satisfying very traditional with a great price to match. I would recommend the roti with your meal.

New joint on the Vic Park strip...read the reviews and decided to try the place out....didn't even get to the food but have enough to say about this

Had a booking for 5:15...arrived at 5:28...was told that there is a booking after us at 6:15...when I asked so basically you want us to finish our meal in 45minsand leave ...staff advises I can get the food out fast...you can have the table but if we don't have another table for people after you we can't help...so have your meal in 45mins if you are lucky there might be spare table to move otherwise you will have to move out I.e leave...not sure if the staff knows anything about or to be precise have heard the word customer service..

Needless to say won't be trying this place out ever again...luckily perth has far better malay options..

Been wanting to try this joint out for a while after hearing glowing reviews from couple of friends. We ordered the Nasi lemak 2 sedap 2 share and an Ipoh Koay Teow Soup for lunch. The Nasi lemak came with 4 sides and we had the slow cooked beef rendang, Mamak fried chicken and sambal squid. The presentation was clean, modern and superb. The sauce tasted authentic and the beef rendang was one of the best I have ever tried. The fried chicken was a bit of a let down unfortunately being on the dry side. The soup from the noodle was tasty and not too heavy. Overall a very positive experience and prices were reasonable too, and great service with a smile!
JoJo
I would rate 0 for service. Tried to call to make booking for 4 ppl and been told that plenty of table available so just walk in. Reach the place within 20mins only told that we have to wait another 20mins as most tables already had ppl walking in and some were already reserved. What kind of poor system is that!? The staff mentioned that's why we recommend online booking. Who would know as first time customer that they only prefer online booking? That's just ridiculous. If customer called to book you suppose to take the booking request! Don't tell customers plenty of table of available just walk in and only later tell different story. This place need to learn how to manage their restaurant better! Not happy!

20 min wait for a table and another 20 min for the food, can't really complain for a Friday night. Nice deco with somewhat a modern kopitiam feel. Had the beef rendang nasi lemak, the dish was well balanced with different condiments on the plate. The standouts for me are the well fragranced rice and the beef rendang itself, flavoursome and a decent sized serve. The sambal chilli is a tad too spicy for my liking, and kinda bland, which is the only small criticism I have. The roasted peanuts, ikan bilis, cucumber and boiled egg are stock standard and can't go wrong, the pickled carrot is however quite a pleasant addition to provide a bit of sweetness which gives the dish a different element. Overall, it might be pricey compared to others, but it met my expectation. Oh, and the service was great too!

We were hesitant to visit this place after having read other reviews here. To our surprise, we were greeted warmly by friendly staff. Orders were quickly taken and we received our food in good time. Our son was even offered drawing crayons and their needs were well spotted and attended to in great detail. My hubby really enjoyed his mee goreng and my sons and I were impressed with the roti telor. Supervisor Jay was super friendly and checked with us if our expectations were met. We rate this place 5 star without any qualms.
Been here a couple of times. Love the food here! its really hard to get real authentic malaysian food in perth but this place really hits the spot like what you can get back home. Love their roti - crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. Nasi lemak and mee goreng are awesome. They even have teh tarik tower! omg!! We always order that when im out with my girls. Though they still havent offer other dishes that im still craving. T_T (the boss there is very friendly and always ask for feedback, he said he will look at adding more of my cravings. yay!!) Service here is great too! But one thing I dislike is that they get busy at night. Might be a wait if i just walked in without doing bookings. Hard to do so when you have a sudden crave... so make sure you book online!

Terrible service, waited for 45mins and then checked with the waitperson that took our order, only to find out that the kitchen didn't get our order.

If you wish to take your chance with his restaurant, make sure you hound the waitpersons until you get your meal!!!

Excellent customer service and food. Took the beef rendang which was packed with all the required flavour. However one disappointing fact was that the food seemed to be a tad bit cold.

Before you walk in you already can smell the curry, so we must walk in and try.
Modern Authentic Malay food in Vic Park. Very busy with good friendly service.
Teh Tarik and White Coffee was smooth and silky.
Nasi Sambal Sotong was ok not the best.
Roti Cheese with curry chicken was Not bad.

I enjoy the environment and services in the restaurant .. Nasi lemak is okay, just that the fried chicken is a bit too dry for me. They also serve a special huge nasi lemak for sharing (can feed 2-3 hungry bellies according to their menu)
Michele
Went for lunch midweek and ordered the kaya roti, a side of the chicken curry, and a teh tarik. Service and seating was pretty quick and decent but the food was somewhat middling.

The roti was very thin even for a dessert roti, almost like a crepe. The curry was extremely watery, and the boneless chicken used seemed to lack flavour and the potatoes were waterlogged as though both were added at the end of cooking or to top up the bottom of a pot of sauce. Nothing to comment on the teh tarik, pretty similar to everywhere else.

Prices are the same sort of range as Papa Rich, so a bit steep for this kind of food, but if those were my only two options, I'd go to Papa Rich instead.

We came here last Saturday around 11.30am and waited 45 minutes to get a table. The service is extremely slow, to get the attention of a waitperson for drinks or an order took at least 3 attempts. I ordered the char kway teo while hubby ordered maggi goreng with a side of fried chicken. 2 other people at the table ordered roti canai and mi goreng. The food had arrived within a reasonable time except for hubby's maggi goreng which arrived 20 minutes later after everyone else's meal went cold. The food is average, nothing exceptional. The total bill came to just shy of $100. Probably wouldn't bother coming back.

We went here on a saturday night. It was packed full of people the food came out quick.

The prawn noodle soup and laksa were authentic and nice but the rendang was sour it tasted like it had tomato paste inside of it.

The price is quite steep for noodles and rice compared to other restaurants and food courts.

Well, news was out there was a hot new Malaysian pad pumping out some sweet feeds.

The standout star was the dhal accompanying the roti canai, the star anise really shone through and picked up the flaky and airy bread.

We had the nasi lemak with beef rendang and chicken curry because let's be honest, you just can't do one! The coconut rice was rad, super fragrant with lemongrass and pandan, ikan billis superbly crunchy and the peanuts toasted just right.

The rendang was pull apart with a nice thick sauce, the my only beef was that it had lost some of that fresh heady aroma.
The curry laksa was piping hot and packed full of treats, it had that sauce that told you everything was gravy.
The place has a great vibe, bang for your buck and sweet tunes.
I had the Prawn mee noodle soup and my friend had the Laksa. My prawn mee was the saltiest dish I have ever tried and tasted disgusting. My friend tried it and thought the same. I even had to ask for the Sambal side that was pictured in the menu. The prawns tasted like they were frozen imported type not WA prawns like Noodle Forum uses. Over all the prices are very very expensive especially when compared to Ten tens lunch menu. They even charge extra for Chicken in the Laksa. I won't be back!

As a new place, it was a pretty long wait time for a table for 2 (45mins). So, anticipation of a good dining experience was high. Service was friendly, place was a little cramped - could've spaced out the tables better. We ordered their signature dishes - Mamak Fried Chicken Nasi Lemak and Curry Chicken Laksa. Along with the Honey Teh Tarik and 3 Layer Kopi. The teh tarik was quite nice with the honey fragrance, but the kopi was not nice with the gula melaka that overpowered the drink. The laksa was diluted and didn't have the strong curry punch. The nasi Lemak was ok - acar was good, sambal so-so, fried chicken well flavoured and tender, but the rice could've been slightly more flavoured. Definitely want to go try some other dishes on the menu, but not worth the wait - so maybe when the hype dies down.

Flavorful food, great ambience and friendly staff! We had the maggi goreng, nasi lemak and roti - truly authentic Msian taste. For those who is not familiar with Msian food, we love our food flavorful. Strongly recommend this place if you are looking for authentic Msian food. 👍

I will only summarised what i think of this place. Ordered volcano curry laksa.
Environment : Cosy but noisy
Food : Too dry and thick
Price : Ripped off
Service : Friendly but slow
Will not dine in again and will not recommend any of my family members or friends. Total disappointment.

Went there with my boyfriend and we have laksa to share because the price is very expensive. Not really nice, not spicy enough and abit too thick and dry. Only nice is the place but won't be back.

We had the nasi lemak 2 share, and found it to be ok... The menu mentioned that otak-otak was included (as it was the main reason we wanted the nasi lemak 2 share), but when the dish arrived, it was missing. We pointed it out to our waitress, and the waitress mentioned that it will be included in the future. She also assured us that there are extra portions of eggs and side dishes to compensate for the missing otak-otak. We looked at the pictures of the menu and found that the side dishes were the same amount of portions.

Overall we enjoyed the meal, the decor looked great, ambience was lively, and staff were friendly. We felt it would have been better if the menu gets updated to mention what is currently included in the nasi lemak 2 share dish and what is not available for the time being.

Went for lunch and ordered mamak mee goreng, Nasi lemak with rendang, char koay tiaw and roti with egg and onions. The food were delicious just like the name of the restaurant Sedap Place. Mee goreng was the best I tasted in Perth! The char koay tiaw is yummy with the " wok hei" Nasi lemak authentic and the rendang tender and flavoursome. Love the crispy roti which is freshly made in the kitchen. To complete my dining experience I enjoyed the Teh tarik which reminded me of the Teh tarik from the mamak stall back in my hometown. I will definitely return and highly recommended this place.
Eat For Living
Not a bad ambience and location with plenty of parking along the street. The staffs are friendly with big smiling faces. The food however are little far fetch. We ordered prawn noodles and curry noodles. The broth in both dishes are so far away from original taste with several important ingredients missing. Pricey place dine. Very much rooms to improve.

Me first time write review. New to zomato. Next time I will write more. Place very nice I like it but food not good. My friend said he also don't like the char keow tiew. Funny burn taste. I had some noddle cannot remember what is it call.Drink teh tarik and very sweet not nice. Price also not cheap. Sorry but we won't come back and waste time and money.

Ordered the nasi lemak with the fried chicken and it was SO GOOD! All the flavours were there and it was just awesome. The only thing was their volcano laksa which wasn't as satisfying as we thought it would be but the staff was very nice about it and overall, we had a good experience. Would totally recommend coming here to try out their nasi lemak!

A friend recommended the Nasi lemak. Not as good as I expected. For the price I pay for I expect better food. Environment good, nice place but slightly packed. Busy and food came slow.

Food, ambience and service are all 5 stars! We had the Nasi Lemak rendang, laksa, Mee goreng, nasi lemak (chicken), Prawn Mee, roti Telur and roti without telur, Teh Tarik. Found ALL dishes to be authentic, full of flavour, generous portions and everything was delicious! Service was surprisingly fast despite the restaurant being full, staff were attentive and polite.

Unbeknownst to the staff, we brought a family friend who was diagnosed with cancer and just started chemo for 6 months this week (means no eating out for next 6 months). She chose Sedap Place as the last place she wanted to indulge in before chemo started and was delighted with the food, the great service and the whole experience.

We also celebrated her birthday with a surprise cake and it was so nice when the lights were dimmed, the birthday song came on and the staff presented her with the lit birthday cake. The staff also surprised us with a plate of complimentary crispy crepe dessert- completely unexpected! Everything about our dining experience was perfect- thank you Sedap Place for your amazing service despite not knowing what your patrons may be going through.

Highly recommended!

Prawn mee was nothing like the picture. Bland and tasteless and way way way overpriced. I normally dont write bad reviews but this place holds the worst restaurant in perth for me. Do not come here for this worthless foul tasting noodle. I know what i wrote may seem harsh, but my tastebuds dont lie. Do not come.

We didnt book a table, thinking it we arrived early enough we'll surely get a table. We arrived at 11.15am, all inside tables were already occupied, only one table outside left, phew... Overall dining experience was good. Wanted something spicy, I ordered their Volcano Curry Laksa. Flavours were there, BUT not not not spicy at all, just like normal curry laksa *disappointed*. Ordered Roti Telur for our daughter, it's really really good, crispier than PR and I loved the condiment with potatoes. Hubby had Char Kway Teow. It's good, just how it should be. Teh Tarik wasnt too sweet like some places. I didnt look at the price when ordering. The bill came and I was quite surprised that Volcano Curry Laksa costs $19 (wow) and Char Kway Teow $14. Food were good but they definitely charge premium price. Service was efficient. If I can request one thing, please provide serviettes on table or at least give us some when deliver cutleries instead of using our own. What if people dont bring tissues in their bags?

Came here on a Friday night and their Nasi lemak is absolutely divine 👌🏼. Bear in mind that although it says on the menu that it's for two to share, the portion is really big and could feed about 4. We also had the roti canai mamak , curry noodle volcano and the teh tarik tower. Contrary to nasi lemak, we felt that the curry noodle is a disappointment. Not sure if it's just us but there's a chemical after taste for the noodle. Our guess is that the yellow noodles wasn't properly cooked, but again, we could be wrong. Other than that, the service is great. Staffs were very friendly and prompt.

We managed to sneak in a table at lunch time if not we might be queuing for some time. Tables are hard to get for bigger groups. Service is not bad, manager in store was friendly and quick to the job. There was one waitress who's not very attentive. Service was a bit slow. Waited quite a while for the food. Laksa is pretty good. Would be my fave in town for the time being. Mee goreng was so so. Roti Canai was abit oily to my liking. Think fellow competitors do better Canai. Will be back to try Nasi lemak and definitely the laksa again.

We ordered the nasi lemak rendang (good!), nasi lemak fried chicken (tasty but too salty), roti pratha (good!), milo dinosaur (good!) and 3 layer tea (too sweet for me but my sister likes it). Service was a little slow but the food came out quite quickly. It's not a pram friendly place and there's high chairs available if you're bring the kids.

3.4 rating
It was a nice experience, it was packed even on a weekday so we booked a table and got seated.

The takeaway menu had small bites such as nyonya otak otak which was not available to main diners. I hope this is made available to diners in future.

By 7.30 the sambal cockles were sold out! 4 of us ordered curry laksa with curry chicken (not bad-the comment here was it was slightly watered down but I tasted it and liked it), char kuey teow (not bad too, there is wok flavour) and sambal cockles would have been a good addition here, prawn noodle (this was my dish -it was ok though to those who like rice vermicelli please make sure you ask for it because mine was all yellow thick noodles), mee Siam (I liked the taste of it but the general comments were it was not "Siam" enough. For me I thought the wok flavour was there and it's a different take to different mee Siam which is usually reddish in colour, this one was brown looking).

Over all , service was slightly slow because of the full house but very polite & most importantly, extremely open to feedback. Will return for the sambal cockles.

(I was so hungry I stuffed my face and forgot to take proper pictures again)

My favourite was the mee mamak goreng! Overall price reasonable and affordable. Good food portions. I tried a few dishes, they're all pretty good. Nasi lemak was really good too though belacan could be more spicy(just my own preference). Nice place to dine in. Friendly staff. Will come again to try other dishes.

Came on a busy week night end of last week and we were seated in less than 30 minutes. The staffs were very friendly and it made our waiting time passed really quickly. We asked what are their signature dishes and the staffs happily told us all. So we decided to try their signature dishes, nasi lemak to share (with mamak fried chicken, matcha curry chicken, sambal squid and beef rendang). We also ordered their char koay teow and volcano curry laksa. The char koay teow was tasty but a little wet (I like mine dry). The volcano curry laksa needs a bit more spice and oomph to it but the taste is definitely there. The nasi lemak which is our favourite was yummy and we like their sambal, curry chicken and beef rendang. We all agreed that the beef rendang was our highlight for the night! The fried chicken is a little bit bland as perhaps they have not marinade it long enough to get the flavour through the chicken pieces. For our drink, we ordered the tower teh tarik which is very authentic Malaysian! I can truly taste that it is not one of those packaged teh tarik. So we were very happy with this too. I think we will come back for the nasi lemak again next time!

SEDAP (YUMMY)!! This is it. One of the best Roti I've had in Perth. Although it was very busy and slightly on the slow side, it was worth the wait.

The Roti was cooked to perfection. Not too crispy and not too oily. I had the Roti Telur (Egg) and it was savoury but sweet. The bread texture was fluffy and crispy at the edges. The Dahl was very nice. Tastes like it was made on the day as the chick peas was still solid and not kept overnight.

The Kuey Teow was another winner. Although slightly salty it was pleasing and on point. It was charred enough to give a sweet flavour and also seasoned well to have an authentic flavour.

For drinks I ordered the three layer tea which brings me back to the days in Brunei. The pandan sugar was exactly as expected and I think this will be my new Malaysian fix for weekends.

Overall a solid 4.5/5 for me, only 0.5 I didn't give was the time taken for drinks to come. Keep up the good food team!

Second visit 7/5/17
Revisited Sedap a week later and was amazed again, I'd honour my 0.5 score for Sedap only because things had changed since my last visit. Drinks came out fast and the food was amazing (once again!). It was during a peak time and the staff did well in managing the busy period.

This time I ordered the Nasi Lemak with fried chicken. This was truly a Malaysian delight. The condiments to the dish was just enough. The chicken was marinated very well and tasted very "mamak" like. Overall, my experience has changed and I'm giving it a 5/5!

Sedap place is the current talk in town and it did not disappoint. We ordered nasi lemak with beef rendang and spicy chicken and I have to admit this is probably the best beef rendang in town, the beef is tender and full of flavour. The chilli sauce is the bomb! Do remember to make a booking if you decide to try this place out.
LittleAsianGirl
Tried this place today. We ordered the Nasi Lemak 2 Sedap 2 share with the sambal squid, mamak fried chicken, macha curry chicken and the rendang beef. The nasi lemak was actually not bad. The rice had good form and the sambal tasty though it could be spicier. We also ordered the mamak mee goreng, mee hoon goreng, vegetarian mee hoon siam, char kuay teow and the roti canai mamak. The roti canai was really nice, not enough curry/sambal though. The mee hoon siam wasn't spicy or tangy enough for me. The rest of the dishes were ok. We also ordered the teh tarik and the teh c. It was really sweet for us we had to ask for some hot water to dilute it a little. But the flavours were there. We mostly enjoyed the food here. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Would come back and try some of their other dishes.

Oh my! char kuey teow is the best! It has wok flavour that most places don't! Authentic flavours that brings me one step closer to hometown. Definitely be back very soon!!!!!
Most authentic Malaysian Teh Tarik that I can find here. Would definitely return again to try the other food. Good ambiance and amazing service.

A great addition to the Vic Park scene as there's not much choices for Malaysian food on that strip. Must try is the Nasi Lemak with beef rendang - full of flavour and the sambal is something unique. Serving size could be improved for the Ipoh kway teow as it's quite small compared to similar restaurants. Also some teething issues with wait staff not familiar with the menu but am sure this will improve with time.

We were excited to try this place, as we heard so many good reviews about it. However....
The place was packed, so the service was not very attentive; food took a while too arrive (+/- 20 minutes)
We ordered curry laksa with macha curry chicken and char kway teow.
The laksa was nice, very tasty, and very generous in serving; but we were disappointed with the kway teow because the serving was really small (esp for a $13.90 dish), which we were surprised at, as other tables got a generous serving of it. In terms of taste, we found that the kway teow's flavour was uneven (some parts was tasty, some had no taste at all, while other parts had bitter burnt taste). I am not sure if we will come back.
Life Is Sharing
We were so excited for seeing their opening as we like Malaysia food.
But at the end we were all disappointed as food were not nice as expected! Salty and lack of flavor for all of our 4 dishes.
Just like another Papa Rich which is a not cheap but so so one.
The only one can talk was the environment was new and clean.
So happy that we've found a place that makes authentic Nasi Lemak! The Rendang was true to its roots and not like other places which tries to pass off normal beef curry as Rendang. We also had the Three Layer tea and Kopi Kau which was also just like how they makes it in Malaysia. Unfortunately the Sambal Cockles were sold out on this occasion but we will be back to try them and the other mouth watering dishes.
Not A Princess Bebe
One of the most authentic Malaysian food joint you can find in Perth. Obviously being a new diner in town, there are still room for improvement. But despite their newbie status, their Nasi Lemak, curry laksa and Prawn mee, oh and all the Rotis are absolutely yummilicious! Try them and you'll see why they have queues in front of their shop everyday. 😊

We tried this place on the second day of opening and we were very pleased by the setup and customer service. Once you enter, it feels like you've entered Malaysia makan place. Clean but authentic tasting. Price was also not as expensive as Papparich. Tastewise was definitely uniquely Malaysia but not used elsewhere. It is hard to explain. For example, the setup of nasi lemak. The combination of sambal and assam sambal with the nyonya achar (pickles) were unique and not used elsewhere in Perth. I am very keen to order the teh si tower but it was late so maybe next time? The service was also good! Please keep up the good work!!

Very delightful, frangrant and authentic nasi lemak, served with a great selections of mains, they even got 'see-hum' sambal! This might just be the best/truly Malaysian nasi lemak you could ever find in WA!
