Good place in the city for a decent pint

If youre coelaic - do not eat here. The manager said his sister is coeliac and recommended their bangers and mash as a safe choice. It was not safe. Below is what I wrote directly after visiting and gave the pub 3 stars. Now it's down to 1 for poisoning me. Eating out as a celiac is always tricky, luckily the manager on when I went has a sister who is also coeliac. This meant he knew what I could eat safely - bangers and mash! Delicious! It was a slightly disappointing wait time though. 50 minute wait when there was only one other table order before us. They were a chef down, so it's understandable, but only told us that when the final meal was brought out, a full 10 minutes after the other 2 dishes arrived. We were given a free round of drinks for the wait - appreciate that, thanks guys. All in all it was a fine lunch, nothing fancy, I won't be coming back though.

Great staff great atmosphere. Really nice place as a one off or as a local. It’s very cosy with a lot of character and right in the city. It’s definitely a must visit.

Good pub food, even on the weekend. In addition to their normal menu, they have daily specials. American Express cards are accepted.

Awesome food and beer, but no table service as this is normal in Perth, helpful cashier

Reminds me of the bar from Cheers 😁 Great little place for drinks 🥂, haven't tried the food but what we saw looked good. Prices really reasonable & staff were friendly too. Will grab a bite to eat next time we visit!

Went here with a friend for lunch. Quick service. The guys were friendly and smiley and the food was fine. The cocktails were good. Ambience wise it's a pub, darkish and comfy which was nice and no super loud music. I could actually hear my friend talk. We'll definitely be back.

This underground restaurant and pub is great for its $15 changing lunch specials. Everyone at my table was happy with their steak & chips, pulled beef cheek irish stew, 43 below burger (massive!), fish n chips, barramundi & lentils... but my mini burgers was a let down. Besides getting my meal 10 minutes after everyone else... the wagyu beef slider was ok but lacked sauce, had to add it myself. And the pulled pork slider sounded great but it was sooooo dry it was actually inedible! Im giving them a generous score coz the rest of my table was happy and the prices are reasonable... hard to find in perth!

Pretty casual pub restaurant - didn't really expect much from this place actually. However, the service was fast and friendly. I had their signature burger with fries. The patty was nice and juicy, good flavouring in the mince and the bun was brioche - which was a good touch to fancy up the burger a bit. My friends also enjoyed their meals - not too bad for a simple lunch over drinks.

Great place to come to on a Friday night if you don't want to face the crowds at every other city bar! They have moscato on the menu which is becoming annoyingly elusive these days!

4e Below. What can I say, you’re a hidden gem in the undergrowth of a neglected street of a neglected city.

And when I say undergrowth, I mean it, literally. Namely, due to your basement location, but also because you are more elusive than Mat Coleman since 2008. I never knew about that guy...

Your special on a Tuesday is a curry and beer. This week it was one of my favourites: a green curry. For all accounts, it was well enjoyed.

You also have a large sausage. In fact, when you flopped out 2 of those babies on the plate, it looked real scrumptious. Apparently it was.

The décor is that of Cheers bar meets Paddy’s bar. Quite homely. It says “come with friends, or cum on friends. Everyone is welcome. Even watto.”

There were no di*kheads playing ridiculously loud acoustic numbers, rather a background playlist that drowned out the awkwardness when the waitress noticed Beau staring at her ladybits.

Suggestions: spend more on advertising. If people actually know you exist, they might increase your patronage to a more-deserved 10+

We want the name changed back to ALHAMBRA.
Sounds so much better and even though it's the name from the past, it sounds like a great 'now' name !!
A L H A M B R A ✔️
Famished
Not too shabby. This venue is quiet and relaxed, appealing to those whom wish to escape the hustle and bustle of other city based establishments.

I visited with work colleagues for Christmas drinks and nibbles. We were served platters consisting of party pies, quiches, crumbed fish, samosas, spring rolls and bread with dips. Basic, yet more than edible. It was a quiet Wednesday evening and service was accommodating. Decor is a little outdated, which may explain the lack of popularity. I found it to be pleasant and clean, however.

The menu was nothing special so we ended up with fish and chips. Both were oilier than I would have preferred but tasted good and the salad was quite respectable too. I know it was a Wednesday night but I was surprised to find that we were the only table in the dining area. I hope it is busier for them on other nights but at least it meant fast service for us.

One night in Perth on business, this place provided a good night. With Stella and a pizza for $20 and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, it reminded me of home (England)

Laid back spot. Good lunches (excellent selection) in a cavernous get away from the madding crowd atmosphere. Good service and fair range of wines.

Great place to escape the heat!. When it is 4o degrees above - the best place to escape to is 43 Below
Beer is always cold and the food is great - love the specials
Great service :)

Not what I expected. Went to 43 Below after finding it on the net. I was disappointed in the Parma + pint, half size to everywhere else!
Their credit card swiper didn't work, so had to pay with cash. We were told it was our cards (we tried three). As soon as we left we tried our cards in the nearest ATM - they worked.
The food was nothing special anyway... don't bother!

Quiet, Friendly. I work in the city, and thus require a comfy bolt-hole to drown my myriad of sorrows in. 43 is absolutly perfect for this (at least monday to thursday). Nice thick carpets and wood on the walls to absorb the noise, friendly barstaff, music at a reasonable conversational level. This place has quickly become my most regular spot to escape the horde. Food-wise it isn't going to lead a revolution or win any awards but what do you expect, it's a pub people. Food is decent portions, decent price, decent quality. The jalepeno poppers on the tapas menu are ace by the way, definatly recommend

After work beers at best. I went there for a relaxing dinner with a girl expecting some class and style. Instead was greated with workmen in high vis and tvs full volume.
Could luckily kind of escape to the dining area. It was admittedly late but the meals werent great. Duck salad was tasteless and pasta small portion.

Cocktails were nicely made however..

Just about everything in the pub looks quite aged, which can work quite well in some cases but in this case it didn't. Being one floor below street level means there is very little natural light which doesn't do much to help the ageing look of the place.
For $28, I was happy with my choice and enjoyed the variety and the chance to sample “dude food”. The standout item was the mini burgers which were delicious. I enjoyed the chicken wings and char grilled sausage, but the dish could have benefitted with a slight increase in flavour in the chicken wings and skewered lamb. The squid also needed more cooking and slightly more seasoning. Nonetheless, it was a generous serving which satisfied my appetite and got the tick of approval from me on the “dude food” front. Notice no vegetables or salad – all meat. Definitely suited to men.
