Review The Shoe - Perth

The whole place is well designed, especially the additional sections. Great for people of all ages, except many food stores in the eatery area and some of the shops are closed.

There is no business staying open, a lot of anti social behaviour. The Shoe Bar is the best thing about Yagan Square

It's a unique new clean well designed area with great sculpture and design. Well worth a look. Also mobility & disabled friendly

Amazing night out for New Years! Thank you Perth

This place is beautiful at night. On the upper level you will be able to see the busy night life below. Lots of foods and drinks stores to tried out. They all pretty amazing. 10/10 will always come back.

Was invited to a private function at this venue. Food was great and they had a wide variety of drinks to select from. The private room is quite spacious with enough room for roughly 100 pax and has its own joined bar. Great experience.

I liked it because I visited it with my toddler and on the top level there is a children's playground, which has nice rubbery surface and decent views of the buildings surrounding the area. On the ground floor there are a couple of restaurants which seemed like good places to try out, they were quite busy. There is a big "PERTH" sign which lights up at night, so makes for a good souvenir photo. All in all, it was good as a casual visit but there can be so much more to it. Also, there is no parking available nearby unless you get lucky in one of the nearby streets, so that's a big inconvenience as well.

Great location to hang out although it is quite confusing to navigate if you're new to the area. We don't go into the city much and were quite lost trying to find an entry into a restaurant for our first night out with our toddlers. Otherwisw great place to hang out and picnic.

Hubby and I ventured out last night for our anniversary dinner and ended up here. Was certainly a nice place to sit and watch the world go by.We sat downstairs outside with a nice breeze blowing. Hubby had a tap beer and I had a glass of Pink Moscato.
We decided not to share an entree as everything was in 4's and we didn't want to not be able to eat our mainsHubby ordered the bangers and mash and I ordered the Salt and Pepper Squid (I think it was). There were 2 bangers and they were huge. Hubby's only gripe was not enough gravy (in fact it was a little stream over the top). The caramelized onion relish was the best he has ever had.Mine was light and nice. Squid was cooked good. Only issue was I ordered slaw and got side garden salad. Not a big deal but nevertheless it told me the staff weren't really paying attention.Good basic pub food and we would go back to eat trying something different.
The only downside was that there were guys on skateboards going up and down and this was really annoying. However this is not the restaurants fault.

The Shoe Bar and Café spreads over two levels of the Yagan Square development– on the ground it has a pleasant outlook onto the promenade between Wellington and Roe Streets, while upstairs there are views down to the Market Hall with its myriad food outlets and from the al fresco balcony area at front, the promenade. Two menus operate with the downstairs more of a breakfast and quick lunch and coffee place while upstairs more options are on offer.

Honest servings of good old fashioned pub feeds. Great location to enjoy a bevvie on your lunch break, after work or before a show. Don’t try to be anything other than what they are. Staff friendly which is a bonus. Menu built to share unless you are really craving a parmi to yourself haha

We decided to go to The Shoe in Yagan square to celebrate one of our girlfriend's birthday. This location is very good right on top of the train line. Which is easy to commute for people who take the train.
We ordered a selection of food and wine.
The wings, bread and hummus dip, arancini balls, sweet potato fries, deep fried squid. As for mains, we ordered the fish and chips, steak with onion rings and fries and pizza.
The food quality is really good. We had a good time chatting the wait staff is very friendly.

Recently I've been considering Accessibility in my reviews, so this place gets 4 stars from me. Has wheelchair-friendly ground floor tables and a bar, and an elevator to an upper floor where there is a second bar, flatscreen TVs showing the football, bird's eye view of Yagan Square LED screen and the crosswalk, and the Mess Hall food court below. Unfortunately bathrooms are on the upper floor - so if the elevator isn't working that would be an issue. For now, the elevator enables access to bathrooms, and they're advertised to have an Accessible stall. I couldn't check on the day (someone was in there!) but it looked much roomier than the other stalls, so a definite plus if you have a bulky mobility aids.

The tap-beer prices are standard for the CBD, and the pizza I ordered was freshly made with a handmade base. I went at peak lunch-time on a Saturday, and while service was a little slow on the ground floor the food was cooked quickly and tasted fresh. The upstairs dining room wasn't too noisy despite the activity and the sports being played on the screens, so I could still have a good conversation with my friend. I personally enjoyed the convenient location, but it wasn't individually outstanding for a pub in Perth.
Quiet Please
The music is TOO LOUD. Food was ok. Music volume destroyed every opportunity to have civilized adult conversations - despite 80s music that adults would appreciate.

The negatives - Not even 4yrs of boarding school could prepare me for how bad this meal was. It was already cold by the time it got to the table. Not appetizing at all. Difficult to complain as it’s not table service & I was by myself makes no it hard to head back to the bar without losing my seat.

The positive- great location, good atmosphere & a great balcony. Also has good selection of drinks available.

I’d return for a drink but wouldn’t eat here again.
