I’ve been watching the street frontage ( 47 Lake St just opposite Mustang Bar)with interest over the past few months & tonight I went to the ‘soft opening’ to try this new fully licensed Thai place - one who promises Thai food with drink pairings to boot.
Inside has been decked out to give it an old Thai school house feel with timber weatherboard, a tin roof, a smattering of Thai traditional style decorations along with some large Coke Pop Art pieces...a sort of modern classic eclectic mix!
To the food...we had a variety of entrees; house made grilled meatballs on skewers, Ersarn sausages - both delish. Next we had Duck Larb Salad with sticky rice - extremely tasty. I had the Namtok pork noodle soup (choice of noodle type) for main - presentation was elegant but the spoonful of soup taste test sold the dish! I was transported to the streets of Bangkok by the fragrant spicy flavoursome broth - excellent on this wintery stormy night! My dining partner chose the chef’s recommendation of Musamun Beef Rib which came placed looking almost like a prime rib steak with rich nutty sauce by its side and fresh pineapple slices to refresh the palate - just stunning in presentation and more importantly it’s taste! Wow! This will prove a popular dish for sure...
The wait staff were plentiful and attentive, as was the barman and owner, both of whom popped over to ask how the meal was going on a couple of occasions.
Overall, the food and ambiance was relaxed yet elegant and the food beautifully presented and decidedly tasty! Highly recommended!!!
We had a few dietary requirements on the table so we ended up asking the wait staff for recommendations, and all the dishes we ended up ordering which we’ve not ordered before that were the typical Thai dishes we would order were SO delicious!!! Tried something new and loved it! Also such lovely staff!
At first my bf didn't tell me that he would bring me to a Thai restaurant. This was my first visit to a Thai restaurant after being in Perth. I missed Papaya Salad so much and finally I ordered it. I ordered many dishes. The food is delicious and the menu is quite extensive. Some foods can reduce or increase the level of spiciness. The drinks were delicious. I love the Lychee Martini and Thai Iced Tea with Gin.
I recommend that if you come to eat here on Fridays and Saturdays, you should reserve a table 3 days in advance.
