Review Bob's Bar - Perth

James Arvanitakis
On top of Print Hall you will find Bob’s Bar... a tribute to the Australian Prime Minister, Bob Hawke. This simple little bar sits on the roof, has a nice collection beers, simple bar food (you have to try the pork belly) and friendly, chilled and nice staff! Just had a quiet beer here but enjoyed watching the colour of the city change as the sun set. This is a fun place... would recommend a visit!

Cool little spot with a great concept and great location. Serving sizes from the bar menu are also extremely generous! Only downside I would give it is that it gets pretty windy up there

Bob's is a great spot. Just be warned that it can be windy. If it is too much upstairs try one of the of bars down stairs.

Had a great weekend in perth.. friendly staff, good beer & pizza :) sure would be back next time ^^

Great location and a couple of taps that are always rotating beers. Gets very busy on a Friday night but in general its quite comfortable numbers-wise. Keep in mind it's a rooftop bar so if it's hot, cold, windy or wet it can be uncomfortable.

Stopped in for a quick drink before dinner. Good selection of beers, delicious cocktails and friendly, efficient staff. It's a lovely little spot to enjoy a bevvy.

Recently caught up with friends for drinks at Bob's and had a great night. The cocktails are amazing and the food was pretty good too.

Great place for a quick drink and snacks, it's great to share even amongst 3 people, the flavours were all pleasant, only thing I can fault is the chips were a little to salty, the atmosphere is great they have a live dj and it's outside on the rooftop Would definitely go back.

Lured by the $10 beer and burger deal, we were incredibly let down by this venue. We came as a small group and couldn't get a straight answer out of the confused waitress as to what the deal options were. As it turns out the deal was not for a burger at all but a roast beef roll which was terrible. The bread was nice but the beef was gristly, undercooked and chewy - I loathe wasting food and tried really hard to eat it but failed, and I very rarely do that. My friend took one bite and returned it to the counter without a word. My other friend got a Bob's Box which I wasn't told about when asking for a burger, so she got a slider which wasn't great either but certainly looked edible compared to mine. The fries were nice but the mac and cheese was a tiny fried square with no taste at all and I have no idea where the "Creole" on the menu was.<br/><br/>The staff were OK but not particularly friendly. It was rainy that day and even with the curtains down we got rained all over despite being undercover. My friends had to sit with their umbrellas on their backs and the water pooled up under the table and soaked my bag. There were few wines available by the glass and it wasn't a great experience so we left disappointed.

Great views overlooking the city, with a fantastic atmosphere. Nice cocktails and very good service. It is a great starter to any night out on the town.

Decided to venture up to Bobs Bar before dinner at Apple Dailys and was surprised that at 645 on a Saturday this place was dead. What a great, vibrant spot in the city the cocktails were amazing and the food looked good also, such a chilled out atmosphere and environment and the staff were helpful. Will defiantly be back!!

I held my 30th at Bob's Bar and my parents and I were completely disappointed at the lack of service and hospitality.<br/><br/>As a private event with food and beverages, the bar staff were serving people in our area that were not wearing wrist bands. This was due to their lack of foresight to check the list they had requested from me and provide all attendees with a band prior to entering.<br/><br/>We had to ask several times for the food to be brought out, with only pretzels being offered from 6.30pm to 8pm. This meant people were drinking a lot without food in their stomach, with obvious consequences. A few people left at 8.30pm without food which is unacceptable.<br/><br/>The bar refused to pay off the remainder of the agreed amount of the bill prior to the event, telling us we must leave a credit card at the bar. After a few hours of drinking, you could tell they had planned this so my parents would let them keep charging to the card after the designated amount was finished.<br/><br/>Not only were there frustrations on the night, but in providing feedback to the bar I never heard anything back or even received a written apology. <br/>I have no problems when issues occur; however, the poor customer service post-event is appalling. I would never go back out of principle.

Rethink your dresscode policy, it's nearly 2017. Many modern denim brands use intentional rips, tears and/or distressing as part of an overall design aesthetic. This shouldn't automatically disqualify an individual from entering the premise, especially considering much higher-end establishments in the immediate area do not have such outdated policies.

Worst Bar and Shite Service in Perth! & they still have check to charge the earth for there Drinks!! Put a real Damper on our great night out. They had No Orange juice and the staff had no idea how to make a cocktail or even what they were when we asked for there Tikiti Boo special!!! It took 25mins to come out and tasted absolutely Shite. We left after half a drink. DEFINETLY wortg missing this place 👎👎
LittleGirlBigFood
Omg the cocktails up here are epic. Flowers and all. The food is fast and delicious. A great place for a lunch function. Slightly windy in the afternoon

My type of bar open roof, views of the city ,nice atmosphere ,funky music and reasonable priced drinks , happy for the pints of mountain goat, this bar I would surely visit again and recommend to friends, when entering skip the expensive high maintenance sister print hall and come visit Friendly Bob's bar !!!

How did I not know this existed? I pass it every day and only needed to look up!<br/>By the time I'd climbed the three flights of stairs the office BS was forgotten. Ah, fresh air. <br/>Bob's - best rooftop bar in Perth and my favourite spot for an end of week beverage. While other bars are packed to the rafters, and everyone needing to lip read or fake it, this place was busy in a good way. No pretensions, friendly staff and not a tie in sight despite the ultra conservative offices on either side.

Bob's Bar is a pretty cool place. Perched high on a building in the business district of Perth it's rooftop location gives it a sense of space and openness that goes beyond its actual size. It's popular too. If you're a bit shy on four flights of stairs there is a lift around the corner. We dropped by for a pre-dinner drink and found it a great place on a balmy evening with plenty of atmosphere.

I love Bob's Bar! We've been here SO often, almost every time we want a drink in the city we immediately think of Bob's Bar. Such a great atmosphere and always fantastic beers and ciders on tap. An absolute winner of a place, cannot recommend enough!
Georgia Palladino
Great place for a drink in summer and reasonably priced. Fun atmosphere and a few new drinks to try ! Being as pale as I am I appreciate when a rooftop bar has plenty of shade and the mist hose was a definite plus! (we went on a 40 degree day)

Wandering through the city on Saturday looking for a late lunch with the wife. We wanted something in the sun to make the most of the cracking spring weather we were having and decided (rather randomly) to pop up to Bob's Bar. <br/><br/>Well, we certainly got our sun. And we also got a great guy (with beard) behind the bar who was super accommodating, recommending some refreshingly tasty ciders and then giving us a handy rundown of their new menu. We ended up ordering the corn bread with maple butter (yummmmmm), deep fried chicken (we went back and ordered more of this), chorizo and prawn risotto something (good kick of chilli), and then some cinnamon donut style dessert with a rum/vanilla dipping sauce (oh God, this was out of control good). <br/><br/>All of this while kicking back on the rooftop in the CBD as window cleaners abseiled down the highrise building above us. It was the perfect chilled pitstop and would've certainly stayed on for the DJ if we didn't have to return to reality and pick up our toddler from his grandparents!<br/><br/>Thanks for making our arvo, Bob!

We have tried a few times to have a drink at Bobs Bar always seems to attract a large crowd. Venue nice being a roof top bar however it was crowded and noisy. I personally wouldn't classify this as a small bar as it was standing room only. Enjoyed the evening but won't be making it one of our regular spots.

Having been here rain-cum-shine, Bob's is definitely best when the sun is kissing your skin! I guess I'm biased as I've celebrated a birthday here and have fond memories. <br/><br/>Long Island iced teas are a bit of a hit and miss though, depending on who makes it. The food is typical pub grub, nothing to rave on about. <br/><br/>It's a missed opportunity given that it's one of the best rooftop bars in Perth. Granted the view isn't that amazing compared to 1-Altitude in Singapore (the world's tallest rooftop bar) but the vibe of this place is chilled house, perfect on summer evenings :-)
FatCat
What a great place to kick back and enjoy a drink after work - decked out so that even though it's open rooftop it felt intimate but not crowded.  Didn't get around to trying the food although there were some tempting plates and lovely aromas wafting by, so intend to do so next time.

Went here for a rooftop gig a little while ago and was really impressed by their cocktails and tapas menu. Never been before and probably wouldn't of gone unless going to this gig but will be back in the summer!!

Bob's bar is a niche rooftop bar located inside Print Hall on Brookfield Place on St George's Terrace, the area is so beautiful and many places in the area have impressed us so far including Bar Lafayette and The Trustee, so trying out Bob's Bar was on the bucket list! Bob's bar serves a wide range of beers, ciders, cocktails and wines, along with tapas style mexican food.
Noccer
Not a $ restaurant. Terrific food. But this is not a cheap '$' venue, it should be listed as '$$' or '$$$' because portion sizes are tiny. Great beer range.

What all good bars should be!. Went here for drinks with mates. Excellent service, love how they come to you for orders, the food was fantastic for a small bar - great value and great size portions. So often bars neglect to provide good, cheap food, this place nails it. Oh and they make the best sangrias in town! Love it, will be back!
FoodBean
Not cheap but a good place for a late night drink.. Ended up here after our anniversary dinner at Shiro. A great place for an after dinner drink. A bit expensive but the staff are friendly and know their stuff when it comes to mixing cocktails. And the variety of stuff available is excellent. Had a very pleasant hour.

Great little bar !!. We had such a great time at Bob's bar,, a great place for a cheeky drink and catch up with friends. Friendly waitstaff who looked after our friend who just got engaged with a bottle of champas!
Scottriely1983
Excellent service. I've been here many times after work, always received good service and drinks... the food as alright at best, but the drinks, service and atmosphere make up for it
Bec White
Lovely venue and I like the Asian themed food but some tasty chips would not go astray!
Shaun
Place and atmosphere - decent enough<br/>But the true quality of the bar is in the drinks available and pricing.<br/>NEVER ORDER ANYTHING TO SHARE.<br/>Reason: went for the punch for 4 people $85. (For one is $15) you would expect about 2 drinks each... But no they serve you 3 and 1/4 drinks. (Bar staff pour the drinks)<br/>So we are looking at the 1/4 drink asking WTF... Manager comes around after discussing with wait staff and bar staff the course of action. So he brings up the maths of the millilitres. Apparently we cashed in on cider but less alcohol... Problem is... It still doesn't add up. We could've purchased 6 singles and had more cider, more alcohol.<br/>Thing is why would they challenge us when clearly the manager wasn't even sure wtf was going on. <br/>Pretty damn disappointed, would never go back, they must be relying on drunk groups not noticing the sleight of hand rip off.<br/>On the upside the manager did fix up the one drink that had next to nothing in it and brought us a small cider to top up our disappointing predicament.

Nice, Relaxed, Chilled. Great snack/daytime meeting place

Overpriced but Great Location. Its a shame that the management dont realize that not all of perth are wealthy or working on the mines!!! This placed is overpriced and customer service is somewhat lacking also. I go here after work most Thursday nights for a drink after work but bad service, overpriced food and drinks and an over flirtatious security guard called George I think have made us choose another venue to visit. Shame because this place had the potential to be awesome.

Bob Hawke in Fact!. A rooftop terrace named after Australia's third-longest serving Prime Minister, Bob Hawke. This bar sits at the top level of the Print Hall building above the Apple Daily Bar and Eating House, off St Georges Terrace. The drink selection is decent and the atmosphere is pretty cool and trendy.<br/><br/>This place is a refreshing and welcome addition to the bar scene in Perth and adds a more classy alternative to another particular rooftop bar that offers stunning views ... of Target.<br/><br/>The service here is pretty decent and the drinks were all reasonably priced and quite tasty. I will be back in future for certain. Definitely a cool place to check out if you haven't already.

Nice venue, but...... We've been here twice now, the first time during opening week when there were a few IT glitches which had the staff flapping. This time we had a child free afternoon and a need to be in the CBD for a few errands, so we thought we'd pop in for a drink and nibbles.<br/>At first we accidentally sat in the smoking area, and no staff came anywhere near us so OH went to the bar for drinks, then we were noticed by a waiter, ordered a hot dog, anchovy/tomato toast and potato bravas, and moved ourselves to a newly vacated table in the non-smoking area! The potato dish arrived first, after 10 mins, not bad, it then took 15 mins for the other 2 dishes to be prepared and they then sat on the side for 5 mins until OH went and helped himself to them!! At this point there were 7 staff on and less than 25 customers. We finished our beers, and managed to attract someone's attention and ordered a bottle of sangria, we were then sat for 20 minutes without a drink waiting for it to arrive, we were assured on e that it was just being prepared and so were expecting something quite spectacular.....we got 2 wine glasses with 4 slices of mixed fruit, ice cubes and a straw and the waitress popped the cap off the bottle at the table.....why did this take so long? We ordered a second round from a girl who had just started her shift and in half an hour managed to do nothing and were treated to a filthy look, and she moved to an area of the bar where there weren't any pesky customers while the one girl who was working bought our drinks far more promptly than the last lot.<br/>On the whole it is a great venue, lovely atmosphere, nice food (the anchovies were particularly good), but very small portions for the money and the service is absolutely appalling. So we won't be going back anytime soon.

Great for drinks..... We loved the drinks on a hot Sunday afternoon after shopping. Bob's is a nice place to spend time.<br/><br/>but the food prices - $8.50 for a thin little sausage in bun about the size of a scone.!!!! Bunnings do it better. Bob Hawke would be shocked that the workers are being taken subjected to such outrageous treatment from the ruling classes.<br/><br/>Seriously, Bob’s is a fantastic location, lovely fitout, great staff and cold, cold drinks but eat before you go there and you’ll have a great time.

Great inner city bar. What a great bar and the perfect end to our Australia Day, after watching the fireworks we were after a relaxed casual atmosphere and that is what we found at Bobs bar! Great service and drinks, good sparkling/champagne menu. Finally a place where you can have a drink in a comfortable environment. Good job! A place we can bring our international visitors :)

Great ambience, service and drinks. Spent a Sunday here, was meant to be a drink but the outdoor spot, not too many people and great drink selection (helped by the great waiter) made us stay for the rest of the evening.

Nice outlook. Staff could serve<br/>food with a Serviette and something to pick at the food with, or you'll be left oily handed. Could the flavours need fine tuning perhaps? It started sprinkling rain and magically a roof started covering our heads thankfully! Overall not bad.

Great rooftop bar!

Great spot, but don't go if you're hungry. We ordered as a group - the beers were brought out one at a time, rather than all together, and one TINY hotdog was brought out. We then waited over an hour for the rest of our hot dogs to arrive. After asking the waiters on 3 occasions where the rest of our food was we eventually left- with an apologetic waiter telling us on the way out - "these things happen".<br/><br/>I will not be going back.

Wow!. $37 for our tapas selection, beautiful food, and the other half tried a chorizo dog which he loved, fresh prawns, sardines, nice cuttlefish croquette and patatas bravas in a tasty salsa, sitting in the sun, glass of bubbly........on a par with our all time favourite, Andaluz. Oh, and the staff were super nice. Well done, Bobs Bar.

Fantastic for Tapas or light meal. Excellence in service and a magic addition to Perth bar scene.

Still hungry. A colleague and I went to Bob's Bar for lunch today. First of all, it is a lovely space and the staff seemed friendly. However, it costs $8.50 for literally half a cold tomato and two pieces of bread. The half a tomato was also the same size as the $12.50 hot dog. Seriously (see my photo). Taste-wise, it was fine, however, after spending $33.50 (excluding drinks) on effectively two dinner rolls containing a chipolata (there was supposed to be black truffle, but I couldn't taste it), two more pieces of bread and half a tomato, we left hungry and had to stop off on the way back to work to buy more food. Again, the location is really nice (as long as the sun is shining and the wind not blowing too hard) but go some place else to eat first.

Great place to go for little tapas and a drink before dinner or even after.<br/>On top of the roof and nicely protected from the wind.<br/>Overlooking this great little spot of the city.<br/>The tapas are simple, well cooked and tasty.<br/>I did not try the Dogs, but I will next time.<br/>Wine or champagne/sparkling by the glass is very disappointing.<br/>The choice is between a glass at $11.00 and a glass at $30.00.<br/>We had a glass of Pinot Noir and a Red Champagne/Sparling (from France) at $11.00.<br/>My advise is, to stay away from them.<br/>These wines of low quality should be taken off the list.<br/>The service on this Saturday evening 9pm was quite good, although I did not understand why the hot tapas did come before our drinks and our fresh Oysters (which by the way, I believe had some added salt in their water, so it tastes like sea water).<br/>Then we went next door at The Heritage a French brasserie, very good, you almost feel like you are in Paris
Jay Martin
Great venue - someone please teach the bar staff to make a cocktail (they said they didn't know any of the ones we wanted - including martini) and install a system so you get your drinks in less than half an hour and it might be worth going again! House Cocktails also a bit ordinary.

First time at Bob's Bar on a Sat arvo and loved it! Very Melbournesque. Great rooftop setting amongst the city buildings. Tasty tapas food and drinks. Service impeccable, want for nothing!

The last time I went to Bob’s Bar – rooftop in the Brookfield complex – I saw a $50 note snatched from the hands of a friend I was with as he was paying the bill, and sail majestically off in the breeze – pausing briefly, but tantalisingly out of reach, against the window of an adjacent building, then drifting off in the general direction of Subiaco.

Bobs Bar is part of the Brookfield Place development, on St Georges Terrace. It’s found at the top of a newspaper lined staircase, on the Print Hall rooftop. We love a rooftop bar, Perth is perfect for them. There are lots of places to sit and relax amongst the towering skyscrapers. The original neon “West Australian Newspapers” sign is huge and looks amazing when light up at night. There are many nods to the bars roots; printing and its namesake ex-Prime Minister Bob Hawke. Even the bar menu includes the ‘Blanche’ and ‘Hazel’ hotdogs (after his wives!). And there is another neon sign – of Bob’s infamous quote “Any boss who sacks anyone for not turning up today is a bum”, which he said after the historic Australian victory in the 1983 America’s Cup. This was a summer favourite of mine.  It gets very busy; I wasn’t a fan of queuing precariously on the staircase.  It was worth the wait though - Bob’s is the perfect place for a Pimms (or two!) AFTER work!! ‘Nuff said!
The City Lane
Bob's Bar is the rooftop bar above Print Hall and is named after former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke. The drinks are somewhat over-priced as is most of the stuff in this development but that doesn't mean it’s not a great space to have a drink in and catch up with friends.
IMasticate
The drink prices are standard, but the bar food is expensive and the servings are small...Overall: would not return on a student budget
