Review Paddy Field Chinese Restaurant - Perth

Stephen Pestana
I have been a regular visitor to one of Perth's best dim sum places in Northbridge. I now have a genuine alternative. This is a great place with terrific service: friendly and efficient which is not something you often get at Dim Sum places. The choice whist not very wide is nonetheless very good and certainly tasty. Will be coming back.

Pathetic. Their stir fried vegetables includes only lettuce and mains come before entreè. Zero stars.

Had a groupon there for dinner for 2. Food was very good would definitely recommend.

By Perth standards I think this place is great. At the same price as most places, the quality and freshness is better. The staff are also much friendlier and more helpful although sometimes there is a little trouble explaining or asking things which isn't unusual. Some of the dishes are a touch different to what you'd expect - for example I got the yam deep fried dumplings which usually have pork but these were vego. Still really nice though and I liked everything I had here. Definitely worth a try. For vegetarians they also have an impressive dumpling menu which is very rare!! The freshess and flavours are great!

It was hard to rate this place. The service and staff was all over the shop. Total disorganization! Food would be brought out from the kitchen and then just sit on the bench. We had to ask for all sauces which annoys me as the dumplings sit there getting cold while you wait. Now the food. The prawn and core Andre dumplings were delicious but the pork ribs with black beans were not good. A nothing flavor and tough meat. The beef rice flour roll was delicious and the egg tart was probably the best I had ever had. Not sure I will be back. Bad service is a total turn off for me!

Food sounded and smelt good until they brought us the wrong dish and instead of an apology at our request for the correct dish a debate about our order ensued and after much reluctance and somewhat attitude they replaced it. The replaced dish was good, steamed fish. The tofu and vegetables was average. The service- puts them on the list of places I won't return.

Brought a living social voucher to dine here which was great value. We dinned last night and really enjoyed the food and the service provided by staff. Went on our way home and later during the night mightnight came down with symptoms of food poisoning which lasted well into today. Unfortunately I won't be going back and will not be recommending this place to friends or family.

very bad experience-worst Chinese food along with awful service--ordered seasonal vegetables and got boiled lettuce --i will not recommend to go there --food in food court is better

Bought a Living Social voucher. Paid $40 for $80 credit. I would be more than happy to return and pay full price without the voucher. The service was a cut above most chinese restaurants in Northbridge. We had cloth napkins placed on our laps, wobbly table fixed, rice scooped for us, tea pots promptly filled and they even prepared and wrapped ALL our Peking duck pancakes for us.

We ordered chill pepper whitebait, shredded chicken and jelly fish in spicy sauce and half a Peking duck with noodles and fried icecreams to finish. Loved it all and highly recommend

LOCATED sightly away from the heart of Northbridge Chinatown food area, Paddy Field offers delicious chinese cuisine with dim sum equally good with its peers. This gives another good alternative especially since this place is less crowded (perhaps due to it being new or a bit further). Nonetheless, food here is decent, service is good. I have to emphasis on the service being good as it is not common for chinese restaurant to offer such a great service: puring you tea/water, asking how are you, quick response and all.

Spacing is nice and the place is nicely decorated too creating a more fancy ambiance compared to the usual tightly packed chinese restaurant. The only downside is perhaps the portion is slightly small which gives problem when you come in large group (10 or more) - you may need to order more.
Asian's Taste
This place was recently open. It's a good addition of dim sum's place in Northbridge.
Every thing in this place was nice except egg tart wasn't soft as I expected compare to other dim sum's restaurant.
And I'll keep hunting for the best dumpling in perth😌 with thin skin😁

Went to this place by coincidence coz the other place we wanted to go was so crowded and long queue. It turned out to be a great find. We went for dimsum. Service was good unlike usual dimsum service where the waitress was quite loud and rude, food was good, price wise a tad bit more expensive than our usual dim sum place. But parking easier to find, less waiting time and one thing I was pleasantly surprised for was the fried squid. I was sceptical at first cos it looked paler than the usual fried squid we had but oh it taste good and crunchy and not oily. Me and friends decided that this place can be our new dimsum place.

I've tried their dim sim 4 times in the last 3 months. I think the shop is new so not many people know about them. It's clean, feel comfortable. Most of the dim sim is fresh and tasty.

I had one bad experience with the pan-fried chicken bun (Shengjian Bao). It was overloaded with a bag of black pepper. . (may be adding black pepper to fix the over due chicken meat or cooking accident?) I complained to the manager. She said she knows about it and told the Cook. Then she walked away without doing anything about it.

Overall, okay to try, enjoy family dim sim in the weekend.

Food - good dim sim but their cooking is not consistent.
Service - average.

This place has changed hands a number of times since it first opened, and it's really good now. We've been back a number of times and have found their decent range of yum cha dishes to be consistently well made and appealling. Giving an extra point for the great service and for being the only yum cha joint in Perth that asks you how your meals were at the end :)

This is a really great dim sum experience. It has all of the dishes you could ask for. All beautifully cooked and big. Pricing is great. Service is super. Love this place.

Pleasantly surprised by the change of ownership here. The restaurant had received a minor makeover (table cloths and a shuffle around) - we sat down and within minutes our table was covered in delectable Dim Sum delights.
Salt & Pepper Squid, Spicy Chicken, Prawn & Pork Siu Mai, Pork Steam Buns, Prawn & Coriander dumplings, BBQ Pork and Coriander Rice Flour rolls.. so much food and all super fresh and tasty. All for the bargain basement price of $48! Delicious! We'll be back!

My sister and I regularly frequent this restaurant, previously known as Cafe Delight but this weekend when we arrived, it was the same but different. The table configuration has been moved around a lot and the staff looked unfamiliar to us. We noticed they've redone the menu and they now use table cloths. Nothing major but we initially didn't realise the change in ownership/name. Now instead of ordering off the menu, the restaurant is run as a more traditional dim sum eatery with a trolley being pushed around and staff coming up to offer food from trays.

Ordered all our usual eats; sticky rice (now 2 in a serve), pork buns, prawn and coriander dumplings, kai lan, the century egg porridge and the juicy pork dumplings. The food was nice but it wasn't piping hot which was a bit disappointing. The porridge was lukewarm and the dumpling skin had started to toughen up. Only the rice was hot and full of chicken, mushrooms and sausage which was delicious and the pork bun was also really fresh and stuffed with hot roasted pork.

The service was good but a bit too much for our liking. There was someone at our table every 5 minutes offering food, checking the pot for water, taking away empty steam containers or re-filling up the teapot. All well and good when you're waiting for a food choices but a bit annoying as it was constant while we were eating.

It was nice but not sure if I'll head back here so soon. I might try out some others in Northbridge next time just to see what else is out there.
