Review Thai Bean - Perth

extremely poor service.. was told would be a 20min wait, but 1hour later was asking how much longer. no courtesy from staff, but even an explanation as to why the order was over 45mins late.. they just laughed it off. what a joke won't ever be ordering from this "restaurant" again

Went there on Sunday night and ordered the chicken fried rice, came home and felt really sick. Was up all night vomiting didn't even sleep. I remember walking back to my room from the toilet and collapsing on the floor due to being so sick and weak. This continued through to monday. Ive never been so ill in all my life.

We have been here for the third time tonight, 1st time was great, 2nd ok. Just been again tonight, the service was terrible, the dishes all come out at different times, I had finished mine before the wife's had even left the kitchen, tried to tell them what had happened, all I got was sorry. Sorry is no good, we all want to eat together. Never again.

I ordered tom yum soup and thai fried rice for take away. The fried rice was blend and few slice of meat, few veggies. It was not worth for $13.9 I'm afraid. Tom Yum was good though.

Very delicious and fresh thai food. Tastes authetic too! The resturant is nicely done up with some paintings, trendy plates and cutlery etc. Great for a date or a family dinner. Lots of parking outside.

Always beautiful food with great flavour, reasonable prices and lovely staff. We love visiting here to eat in or grab a quick takeaway.

The best Asian restaurant North of Perth, Food is amazing and so cost effective to have a range of dishes, Staff are just wonderful and efficient, recommend book in advance to avoid not getting a table as always very busy which isn't a bad thing and they do takeaway if you don't wish to dine in, great location next to bottle shop for BYO. Overall Thai bean is perfect

Love love love the food here. I literally can’t fault any dish I’ve had and I’ve had many a meal here.

Terrible Thai food. I ordered a Pad Thai, Honey Chicken and Fried Rice. The Pad Thai smelt like it was rotten and there was nothing in it but noodles. The fried rice had frozen vegetables tossed in it and the honey chicken was very dry.
Not impressed with the food at all!

Always wonderful food and great service. We have been coming here for over a year now, tried most of the menu and still are yet to be disappointed. would recommend to anyone seeking an authentic thai experience!!

After moving from Sydney where a Thai restaurant is on every street corner, I was sad that there was limited choice in the Northern Suburbs of Perth.

Tried Thai Bean last night after reading some of the reviews and I must say my partner and I agreed this was one of the best Thai places we have tried. They made me a dish that is not on the menu that I can see (Penang chicken curry) and it was absolutely delicious, no overpowering fish sauce or peanuts for days.

I definitely recommend this place - ordering over the phone was easy, food was actually ready at the time they said it would be and the lady at the counter was pleasant. We are definitely going to go back.

Had a dreadful Pad Thai from Thai Bean or should I say "Thai Has-Been". The first time we went after their name change, it was great... But that was the only time and the food started to get progressively worse on subsequent visits. Tonight's effort topped it off. The noodles were all clumped together, there were no peanuts, lemon taste, in fact it was basically flavourless. Sorry but I can't see them lasting long if they keep this standard up, especially with the amount of competition around.

Really good flavoured Thai food. We particularly enjoyed the stir fry with ginger. The restaurant seems to be employing some of the young locals and they are inexperienced but very helpful and friendly. In some of the reviews below people do like to whinge about nothing. If you want a local Thai restaurant with great flavours this is for you.

Beautiful flavoured Thai food. Went to the Thai Bean last night for dinner, this place has been many different restaurants including a Thai previously. The food was beautiful, fresh, authentic and no corkage charges. Really enjoyed it. despite some of the previous feedback, I found the waitresses really helpful and polite, I think some people want champagne on beer prices - you can't please everyone but we were really pleased and will definitely be back. The best Thai I have had in Perth

Enjoyable evening at the Thai Bean, Shirbob. Cannot agree with some of the negative reviews about this restaurant. We have spent two evening in the last two weeks dining at the Thai Bean and found the food to be excellent and the service very good. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Thai Bean to anyone who enjoyed the flavours of Thailand. We will certainly return in the future.

Great Food - Poor Service. We visited here some time ago but it looks like it's had a refit and a new owner. I took my wife there last night for her birthday.

The food was excellent but the place is let down by really poor waiting staff who either don't know what they are doing or don't care. A bit of both I think. They are young girls who don't seem to have any interest in what they are doing. Don't welcome you, don't ask how your food is, don't check if you need anything, don't' say goodbye.

1. It's BYO. My wife asked for a wine glass and the waitress said no problem and then carried on doing something else and forgot. We had to ask for it a second time.
2. My wifes starter came out and then mine about five minutes later. They didn't say that meals come out as they are prepared so I don't know if this is the policy.
3. We then waited a long time for the main course. Mine came out but then they asked my wife how she wanted hers to be prepared! She had to wait while they cooked hers.
4. Nobody asked he we were enjoying our meals. I presume they don't care.
5. Nobody asked us if we wanted a dessert or coffee. They just plonked the bill onto our table. My pet hate is being left there waiting to pay the bill but we just sat there for 15 minutes while the waitresses stood chatting around the till.

It's a real pity but I didn't see any management there. Why invest in the food and a refit and then hire people who have no interest? Why even open a restaurant at all if you aren't going to be there on a Saturday night to see what's clearly going wrong.

Unimpressed. The restaurant appears to have recently been refurbished and looks quite presentable. However, I found the service to be extremely slow for a simple takeaway order on a seemingly quiet night. I don't mind a bit of a wait for a good meal, however I'd rate the food as some of the least impressive Thai I've had in Perth. I wouldn't recommend and am unlikely to return.

Oh my gosh We read the rat.... Oh my gosh
We read the ratings! Then the reviews and hesitantly went here for takeaway
Please give this place a go I don't think you will regret it!!! The Massaman curry was to die for - in fact I think I am converted!!! May benefit for some ambience / some mode lighting etc but the food was delish!!!!!
Will definitely go back so happy to add another local to my favorites

Welcome return :)). Congratulations to Brian, Joan and the Thai Bean team on the sensational reinvention of a popular local eatery. Most impressed by the new decor and extensive menu of authentic Asian dishes which were ordered and served with polite professionalism and cooked to perfection. As Arnie famously said “I’ll be beck”.
TDS

Unorganised & rude staff!!!!. I called to make an order to pick up. When I called they said it would be an hour (a saturday night and valentines day i accepted), however half an hour later they called to say my order was ready and waiting on the side. When I told them I could not get there for another half an hour as they said the reply was that it would be 'sitting on the side waiting'. I questioned this and asked to speak to a manager. Apparently there was not one so I asked to speak to someone in charge. While they were getting someone a member of staff, presumably the young girl that had answered the phone said and I quote "HAHAHAHA good luck she sounds like a right bitch". I had not been rude I simply wanted to ask about the food sitting on the side as this was giving me cause for concern. The staff on the phone were apologetic but not very helpful at all and for there not to be a manager on one of the busiest nights of the year I find very surprising!! The manager called me the following day to apologise, and despite being offered a free meal we will not be returning to this restaurant. It is a shame as the place has so much potential.

From the Owner. I would like to thank all patrons that have commented about my new restaurant
As you can appreciate we have only been operating 8 weeks so we can only improve by your comments below
You would have noticed my staff are all very young, in my companies I am continually employing young people to give them an opportunity, your comments have been passed on to the staff members and some were deeply upset
With these comments Thai Bean has made the decision to get external training to assist these young adults

We thank you for all your feedback
Brian and the staff at Thai Bean

Thumps up. Great food & good service. Well worth a visit

Great food poor service. The food is very fresh and tasty however evening was let down by lack of service. The waitress forgot about our drinks, didnt take our order properly and had 1 meal completely forgotten about and 1 meal wrong so both had to be made when the rest of us were eating and all meals came out atleast 5 minutes apart. Dissapointing as the place has so much potential.

Good food nice decor terrible service. Went on a Wednesday night. Relatively quiet night in the resturaunt. Got seated quickly. Waited 25 minutes for our order to be taken. In that time priority seemed to be given to taking telephone orders for food and cleaning tables. A couple came in 15 minutes after us, sat at the table beside us and had there order taken first. My wife's food came first. I waited...and waited...after 10 minutes my meal had not arrived. Had to ask where my meal was. Token apology from surly waitress. Not good enough. Good food and nice decor being let down by poor wait staff.

Terrible food and terrible service. Staff were unhelpful, knew nothing about the menu and took forever to attend to us. Waited close to 40minutes for our food to come out which was dull and boring. A mild curry was overloaded with chilli to make up for lack of flavour. Very uninspiring meal. Will not be returning.

I love this place! Have been going for years. Best Thai in northern suburbs. Great chef, great new set up inside. I have never had any problems here. Their Green Curry Chicken is delicious!

Shame. Been going here for years . Tonight was the first time under New management apparently the same chef .I order the same food I always get . They said ready in 25 mins for there apparently no one took my order ???? How strange who did I speak too . Any mistakes get made . They offered to make it there and then any 20 mins with no compensation . The staff didn't give a toss about anything . To top it off I got home to have my mild curry which was boiling hot !!! Typical
