Amazing food it's a bar not restaurant so alot of people might make the mistake, and think it's table service, but even though it is a bar the atmosphere is amazing to just have a few drinks with the girls
On a lazy mid afternoon Sunday, I thought I'd drop in and have a glass of wine with a friend and sample a cheeseboard.
Whilst there was a small gathering of 10-12 people scattered about the place, I thought the lone bar staff-member kept things ticking along nicely with dishes and drinks being delivered with military precision.
One thing I'll say about this place is that whilst it has an "intimate" feel about it, it has a large open expanse of a bar, which strangely adds to the atmosphere of this place.
The second thing to say about this place is that the cheese board is very generous and is one of the best places I've had a "quality" cheese board, and believe me I can literally "snort" cheese boards every second day of the week.
Easy access with plenty of parking outside the front door.
A good quiet place to take the wife, girlfriend or both for an intimate (and interesting) meal with a nice glass of red.
I went last Friday for breakfast with a friend. They have a breakfast opening special where coffee is only $1 with any breakfast purchase. We thought that this was fantastic!I couldn't decide between the Dirty Crumpets and bacon & eggs. I decided to be daring and ordered the Dirty crumpets - crumpets with toasted marshmellows, pistashio, butterscotch sauce, creme fresh and bananas. The plate looked sensational when it arrived and I liked the the sauce was in a little jug so that I was in control on this. However, I felt that the dish was a bit of a flop. I am a HUGE fan of Gusto's crumpets, and this sadly is no where near as good as Gusto's. I felt that the flavours weren't quite right.
My friend had the open omlette and she said that it was fantastic. They happily catered for her GF needs.
I always like it here. Hopscotch seems to strike the right balance, super classy fit-out, good for a mellow after-work drink on a Tuesday eve but also develops a livelier atmosphere for Friday and Saturday nights when it's time to shake the week off. Bevvie selection is interesting with some wine and beer varieties I've never come across at other bars, and staff seem like natural genuine people, quick & attentive but never pushy. I've done the Tuesday quiz night a couple times, it's the "optional" silent type where the questions are projected onto a large screen on the back wall, so you can keep your group convo going with no quizmaster barking at you. I'll end by saying that caramel miso pork belly and the fried banana with goats cheese icecream may well change your life!
Been to Hopscotch a few times and every time has been very impressive. The $10 pizzas on a Sunday night are not only good value but taste amazing! The pork belly and sliders are also mouth watering! Highly recommended!
Do yourself a favor and get the pork belly... Wine selection excellent, friendly accommodating staff. $10 pizzas Sundays, and a great atmosphere.. perfect for a casual drink and feed with friends
Gorgeous interiors, friendly staff and a beautiful menu made to share. We shared a weekend special $10 pizza - the Carbonara, Beef Sliders and Pork Belly. The pizza was dinner plate sized, perfect for three. The base was thin and crispy and the toppings were lovely and fresh. Loved the carbonara sauce, it went beautifully with the bacon and cheese. The Sliders were divine. Angus Beef was thick and juicy and high grade. Loved the presentation and addition of a baby pickle for some zest. Pork Belly had a great, Asian inspired flavour but was a tiny bit fatty. Still edible though. Great wine list and beautifully presented desserts too. Highly recommend this spot. We loved it!
Hop Scotch
Came here for drinks and dinner on an early Thursday night. We ordered some drinks to start at the counter and these came out quickly. We enjoyed the couches whilst planning a future holiday using their free WFI. Planning always gets me hungry so we decided on dinner at a table. We ordered several dishes including the buffalo mozzarella, pork belly, beef sliders and baby beetroot. We enjoyed all the dishes except unfortunately for the pork belly which was a little dry. Nice ambience and I think I would definitely come back here for a drink and some bites to eat.
Friday night dinner for two after a bevvie at the pop up Embargo bar in south Perth. We didn't have a booking so we had to have a seat at the bar. Not bad but not great either. The service was quick though and we had a drink in no time flat. I had a ginger beer and he had a beer. We ordered a few different things, nuts, potato with aoli, beef sliders and the lamb pizza. It was all good and served fast, considering how many people were there. No complaints but not would I say that it was overly special. But give it a go yourself ...
Well
I started to write this mid meal. We started with the House Jerky which was very nice. Followed by the Beef n Bacon Pizza that nearly early it's way back to the chef as it was dry and very crisp. The Salt n Pepper Calamari was nice especially the crisp and fresh salad. The Apple crumble was delicious and was total comfort food on this occasion thus the score was bought upwards for the evening.
The surrounds are great as a Tapas Bar with some great tunes being played. Staff were smiling and attentive.
What an amazing experience, the venue is fantastic, the service second to none and the food was fabulous. I highly recommend this place and will definitely return there.
Great spot - really feels like a local hangout for the community, which is a nice change. Wish there was a bit of music in the background to add some ambience that's all.
This place is fantastic. First time here and will be coming back again.
Alex is so friendly and smiley. Food is fantastic. Would highly recommend the sticky date pudding.
They've done the "industrial aesthetic" perfectly, with proper accents of warmth with the exposed metal and brickwork. The atmosphere is cosy with all black roof and muted walls, with a beautiful plant-feature wall, yet well lit. Music is the perfect volume; enough to fill the gaps but you don't have to talk loudly to hear each other.
Perfect for large groups as they have lots of seating, and also perfect for a quick coffee or cocktail in their comfy, low chairs around coffee tables.
Top Class!
Perfect for any occasion
Friendly and courteous staff
Reasonable prices $$
Good menu and variety of drinks. Try one of their cocktails, they are a must.
Worth the visit, but book on a Wednesday night, it's their quiz night.
A quaint little bar hidden away in South Perth, which may not look like much, but really delivers. Not only are the food and happy our specials something to look forward to, but the staff are always incredibly easy to deal with. Never had a bad experience!
Pretty cool little place, there are a number of weekly specials including drinks and a Happy Hour, pizzas are also tasty. The bar has decent beers on tap and a good cocktail list. The free quiz night is worth attending, pretty casual and unintimidating.
Nice hipster bar with good range of share plates, craft beers and cocktails on offer.
Short winelust is well priced.
Worth a visit
