Amazing food it's a bar not restaurant so alot of people might make the mistake, and think it's table service, but even though it is a bar the atmosphere is amazing to just have a few drinks with the girls
On a lazy mid afternoon Sunday, I thought I'd drop in and have a glass of wine with a friend and sample a cheeseboard.
Whilst there was a small gathering of 10-12 people scattered about the place, I thought the lone bar staff-member kept things ticking along nicely with dishes and drinks being delivered with military precision.
One thing I'll say about this place is that whilst it has an "intimate" feel about it, it has a large open expanse of a bar, which strangely adds to the atmosphere of this place.
The second thing to say about this place is that the cheese board is very generous and is one of the best places I've had a "quality" cheese board, and believe me I can literally "snort" cheese boards every second day of the week.
Easy access with plenty of parking outside the front door.
A good quiet place to take the wife, girlfriend or both for an intimate (and interesting) meal with a nice glass of red.
I went last Friday for breakfast with a friend. They have a breakfast opening special where coffee is only $1 with any breakfast purchase. We thought that this was fantastic!I couldn't decide between the Dirty Crumpets and bacon & eggs. I decided to be daring and ordered the Dirty crumpets - crumpets with toasted marshmellows, pistashio, butterscotch sauce, creme fresh and bananas. The plate looked sensational when it arrived and I liked the the sauce was in a little jug so that I was in control on this. However, I felt that the dish was a bit of a flop. I am a HUGE fan of Gusto's crumpets, and this sadly is no where near as good as Gusto's. I felt that the flavours weren't quite right.
My friend had the open omlette and she said that it was fantastic. They happily catered for her GF needs.
I always like it here. Hopscotch seems to strike the right balance, super classy fit-out, good for a mellow after-work drink on a Tuesday eve but also develops a livelier atmosphere for Friday and Saturday nights when it's time to shake the week off. Bevvie selection is interesting with some wine and beer varieties I've never come across at other bars, and staff seem like natural genuine people, quick & attentive but never pushy. I've done the Tuesday quiz night a couple times, it's the "optional" silent type where the questions are projected onto a large screen on the back wall, so you can keep your group convo going with no quizmaster barking at you. I'll end by saying that caramel miso pork belly and the fried banana with goats cheese icecream may well change your life!
Been to Hopscotch a few times and every time has been very impressive. The $10 pizzas on a Sunday night are not only good value but taste amazing! The pork belly and sliders are also mouth watering! Highly recommended!
Do yourself a favor and get the pork belly... Wine selection excellent, friendly accommodating staff. $10 pizzas Sundays, and a great atmosphere.. perfect for a casual drink and feed with friends
Gorgeous interiors, friendly staff and a beautiful menu made to share. We shared a weekend special $10 pizza - the Carbonara, Beef Sliders and Pork Belly. The pizza was dinner plate sized, perfect for three. The base was thin and crispy and the toppings were lovely and fresh. Loved the carbonara sauce, it went beautifully with the bacon and cheese. The Sliders were divine. Angus Beef was thick and juicy and high grade. Loved the presentation and addition of a baby pickle for some zest. Pork Belly had a great, Asian inspired flavour but was a tiny bit fatty. Still edible though. Great wine list and beautifully presented desserts too. Highly recommend this spot. We loved it!

Came here for drinks and dinner on an early Thursday night. We ordered some drinks to start at the counter and these came out quickly. We enjoyed the couches whilst planning a future holiday using their free WFI. Planning always gets me hungry so we decided on dinner at a table. We ordered several dishes including the buffalo mozzarella, pork belly, beef sliders and baby beetroot. We enjoyed all the dishes except unfortunately for the pork belly which was a little dry. Nice ambience and I think I would definitely come back here for a drink and some bites to eat.
Friday night dinner for two after a bevvie at the pop up Embargo bar in south Perth. We didn't have a booking so we had to have a seat at the bar. Not bad but not great either. The service was quick though and we had a drink in no time flat. I had a ginger beer and he had a beer. We ordered a few different things, nuts, potato with aoli, beef sliders and the lamb pizza. It was all good and served fast, considering how many people were there. No complaints but not would I say that it was overly special. But give it a go yourself ...
Well
I started to write this mid meal. We started with the House Jerky which was very nice. Followed by the Beef n Bacon Pizza that nearly early it's way back to the chef as it was dry and very crisp. The Salt n Pepper Calamari was nice especially the crisp and fresh salad. The Apple crumble was delicious and was total comfort food on this occasion thus the score was bought upwards for the evening.
The surrounds are great as a Tapas Bar with some great tunes being played. Staff were smiling and attentive.
The food was outstanding for a small bar, drinks and cocktails were great and the service was prompt and polite!
Will be back for more soon!

If you have been to Hopscotch and enjoyed a fashionable espresso martini, then you’ll know they don’t mess around with below par coffee. Fiori is in the grinder, so of course the coffee is going be great!
Even though you’re having breakfast in a bar, they aren’t licensed to serve alcohol until 10am. So maybe make that champagne breakfast a bit later in the morning or enjoy one of their delicious mocktails. I tried a “passion basil fizz” – passionfruit, lemon, basil, ginger beer; Wonderfully refreshing for a hot summer’s morning.
Great venue, had some lovely wines from the Economaster
But if you pay with your credit card, remember that the business will show on your statement as WOLFBERRY HOLDINGS, and not HOPSCOTCH bar - took me a long tome to figure it out
Venue lovely, wines nice, prices at the high end. Pizzas look yummy and were enjoyed while I had a fennel, mozzarella, citrus salad which was super yummy and refreshing. Coffee was average. Service hit and miss, some over familiarity with some customers and not even a smile for new ones. Been there twice, will go again, but not regularly.
Nice bar that plays the best music! As part of the progressive dinner that we went on this was the last stop. While everyone else in the group was getting alcohol one of us got our usual latté to end the night with a cupcake. While the other one got a dark and stormy!!
Was expecting a hot drink but it was just warm - which was a disappointment. The dark & stormy, was delicious :) and just wanted more! Maybe next time though.
Have to try out the menu next time :)
Great cosy interior design and very friendly staff. Have eaten there 3 times now and the tapas styled food is delicious (though they may need to shake the menu up occasionally as it is not super extensive). Exactly what Angelo Street (and South Perth) was in dire need of.
Went to Hopscotch tonight with some friends from Germany. Food was fantastic and service really good. Love the atmosphere of the place. Great to have such a good bar locally.
Great trendy bar in South Perth..food is always good..loved the tuna loin and service is fantastic..the only improvement should be coffee....

Hopscotch is the newest small bar in South Perth. It opened on Angelo Street just after we left and it was disappointing to miss out an exciting new local. Luckily we’re back and it was our first foodie stop of our visit! Hopscotch has a stylish interior with more space than you expect coming in from the street. There’s raw walls on the left and sleek black on the other. A large modern bar takes up the centre with a self service wine machine adding to the sleek feel. There’s a mix of dishes available. There’s small dishes for sharing as well as pizzas and more substantial bites. We started with some drinks and went for a selection of tastes for the table. We started with a simple bowl of olives, as well as a duck liver pate with a port jelly. The pate was difficult to serve from the jar but was creamy and rich with a crispy bread and just a touch of salt. Unable to resist a good croquette we selected the Jamon croquettes. It was a crispy and light but the Jamon ham flavour could have been stronger. They were a bit more oily than we like, but we loved the bite of aioli. We also went for the hand cut chips served with another aioli. They were wonderfully thick, and served crispy and hot. The seasoning was just perfect and somehow the truffled aioli was better than that served with the croquette. It made a regular bowl of chips something spectacular and we savoured every last bite. We also tried the pork meatballs – a visual delight on the plate. It had a nice chilli warmth, a bite of spring onion and a nice creamy hint. The server had recommended it and we’re very glad we followed this one! Finally, a feta and lamb pizza with a side of broccolini. The pizza was a classic flavour combination that just worked. We loved the salty feta and thin crust. The broccolini was rather bland considering it was supposed to have a chilli hit and was a touch underdone.
The first thing I noticed is their attention to accoustics. They have built a remarkably dead room which makes it ideal for conversation. Well done !!
A reasonable wine selection and we started with the Sileni Pinot which had a medium to strong nose and excellent body. We followed this with a Barwick Shiraz which was nicely oaked and full bodied with good length, both excellent bang for buck. For nibbles we had the chilli prawn pizza which got 3/4 votes and the wedges which could have been better. They made up for this with an excellent coffee. I would be more than happy with this from a dedicated coffee house. All in all a definite venue to try again.
Went here for a Friday night dinner. Wasn't able to get in until 8pm with a booking but we showed up early and were seated within 5 mins. For food we tried the potatoes, the croquettes and the duck liver pate. All were good but the chips were overly salty. I also tried an espresso martini which was very well made but the sprinkling of coffee from the base of the coffee machine put me off a smidge... Was a nice meal but not sure I would go back.
Sit at the bar and take it all in! We went without a booking so bar seats were all that was available. It's a beautiful bar, great lighting, easy listening music just the right volume. Friendly staff, eager to serve you and talk through the food and drinks menu. Extensive wine and scotch menu, I had THE BEST espresso martini ever! Croquettes were perfect, mozzarella pizza was delish with the most tasty base (definitely no crusts left on the plate) the pork meatballs were way too salty and texturally off for our likings but we didn't mind because the rest was so good. Mainly larger groups eating, recommend booking. We will return for the hot buttered rum cocktail and sailor jerry pudding.
Arrived with out a booking and was told there's no way you will get a table by the guy behind the bar. Although magically we did. He was slightly rude and u inviting. However, don't let that put you off the table staff are delightful and the food is so delicious! Well worth a visit!
I am refusing to let this back pain rule my life. When I originally injured it ten years ago, the pain overwhelmed me and I was terrified that I would never get back to my previous level of activity. This time round I am better prepared for the ride and thankfully my pain has been easier to control. It was my mother-in-law’s birthday a few weeks ago and it was at a point that I was still maxed out on my pain killers and mostly housebound. I was determined not to be beaten by this fact and agreed to join them for a lunch outing to celebrate.
Brought the family and friends here for Sunday lunch. Great food and attentive, friendly service. Chicken wings and pork belly are definitely the best in Perth! Will be back for sure.
Great location and a very cosy atmosphere. Came down with a mate and the staff were quick onto us. We're beer geeks and there was an excellent array to try out. If you're in the area, I'd recommend it!
Great food that came out quickly. Pork very was the best I've had. Even though it was very busy, you could still hear people at your table with not much trouble. Only negative was the put a 12 person booking on a small bar table, which would normally take 6. Luckily only 10 of us ended up coming.
To die for!!! The lamb is a must have! Well done Hipscotch. Nice to finally have a decent place in Angelo at! Just be prepared you may have to wait a little while for a table so get there early if today can!
Trendy, tasty food, great variety of drinks & quick, professional service!. Absolutely LOVE this place! Been here 5 times already & every time it amazes me how I can get served so quickly when the place is packed & busy. The PIZZA is definitely a winner, the lamb pizza is my favourite, could eat this one everyday. Blown away with the variety of wines & beers available. Price is within range for area & venue & the service was faultless. The guys know what they're doing here. Great for meeting people, taking a date & pre drinks/food before heading out later on. I'LL BE BACK FOR SURE!!!!
Classy place. I have been here twice this week. The bar staff made us long island iced teas which weren't on the menu but were yum yum yum. Pork belly is great...and what is that miso gel with it? So good. Wings r yum. Jamon serrano is yum. Cant fault this place
Finally a small bar in South Perth!. Despite opposition from kill joys, this bar has opened in South Perth and not a moment too soon. Had the mushroom blue cheese pizza and spicy chicken wings, both good choices. The place is surprisingly comfortable and cosy. We entered at the bar's full capacity and yet the atmosphere was intimate and service attentive. Looking forward to spending some nights here.
What an amazing experience, the venue is fantastic, the service second to none and the food was fabulous. I highly recommend this place and will definitely return there.
Great spot - really feels like a local hangout for the community, which is a nice change. Wish there was a bit of music in the background to add some ambience that's all.
This place is fantastic. First time here and will be coming back again.
Alex is so friendly and smiley. Food is fantastic. Would highly recommend the sticky date pudding.
They've done the "industrial aesthetic" perfectly, with proper accents of warmth with the exposed metal and brickwork. The atmosphere is cosy with all black roof and muted walls, with a beautiful plant-feature wall, yet well lit. Music is the perfect volume; enough to fill the gaps but you don't have to talk loudly to hear each other.
Perfect for large groups as they have lots of seating, and also perfect for a quick coffee or cocktail in their comfy, low chairs around coffee tables.
Top Class!
Perfect for any occasion
Friendly and courteous staff
Reasonable prices $$
Good menu and variety of drinks. Try one of their cocktails, they are a must.
Worth the visit, but book on a Wednesday night, it's their quiz night.
A quaint little bar hidden away in South Perth, which may not look like much, but really delivers. Not only are the food and happy our specials something to look forward to, but the staff are always incredibly easy to deal with. Never had a bad experience!
Pretty cool little place, there are a number of weekly specials including drinks and a Happy Hour, pizzas are also tasty. The bar has decent beers on tap and a good cocktail list. The free quiz night is worth attending, pretty casual and unintimidating.
Nice hipster bar with good range of share plates, craft beers and cocktails on offer.
Short winelust is well priced.
Worth a visit
