Review Fitzgerald Seafood Restaurant - Perth

Adrian M
It's a solid local Chinese restaurant that offers a mix of Cantonese and South East Asian Cantonese food. The menu is extensive and they even have live seafood you can choose from the tank if you enjoy that option. I've been here a few times mainly for dinner and the food is humble yet flavours are delicious, and this is backed up by the type of customers they regularly bring in. The location avails itself of plenty of nearby street parking, and there's indoor dining and takeaway options available. Service isn't going to win any awards but it's efficient.

West Australian Christmas Day. Delicious Singapore chilli crab and golden fried mantou buns. Place filled up with locals in the know. Will be back

Their food is reliably delicious. Succulent pepper lamb and the salted squid in batter is 11 out of 10! Rich Man's rice is light and delicate and flavoursome. Decor is basic, older restaurant.

Went there once , food tasted bad too much ginger in it, staff not at all friendly. I think the waiter’s name was Mandy she’s not polite.

The food was really good. Limited dishes, but that made what dishes they do have very good. Most of the food was typical Chinese not western style Chinese. Seating was very limited, probably limited to about 40 seats.

Great food, good service not a fancy restaurant in a quiet park of the city. There parking on the street out the front. Not expensive

The lobster noodle and salt and pepper squid were to die for. Do not judge the shop by the look, the food is of quality.

Very friendly staff and the foods is amazing. Highly recommended

Freshly made dishes. Lots of choice from their menu. Enjoyed their honey chicken, sweet sour pork, sambal kang kung, jellyfish and chicken salad and fried ice cream. Good local spot for us. Will be returning.

Went here about five years ago and came home feeling so sick that I sank about two litres of water to flush my system out. Food was so oily and salty. Nothing authentic about it. Just your classic western Chinese slop really.

Good Chinese food at reasonable prices. Lovely steamed glutinous rice topped with prawns, olive pork - Bellesimo. Violin tofu was vivaldilicious. There was stir fried beef with Kai lan, fried Patagonia tooth fish & a steamed perch - former was crunchylicious and the other chewlicious. Good to come back. The ambiance is not quite a Romeo & Juliet setting. More of a bear grill eat and rough it for the evening.

This has come to be our favourite Chinese eatery in Perth. It's not flashy or pretentious but the food is down-home great and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. We like the home-made tofu with enoki mushrooms and the chilli pepper spare ribs. The standard Cantonese dishes such as chicken fried rice with salt fish are great value for money. The takeaway service is also excellent - invariably with a big bag of shrimp chips, and we have never had to wait. For a restaurant of this class it's also very economical - I was amazed to get a bill for just over $80 for dinner for four people witha doggy-bag of stuff to take home (did they miscalculate?). The clientele is also great value for people-watching, with big families, retired people groups and just Aussie types of all ethnicity having a great time. It's not licenced, but who cares?

Small unpretentious restaurant that I've never noticed before on my many drives down Fitzgerald St.
Staff are very friendly and more than happy to make adjustments for dietary requirements. Food was brought out fairly quickly, very decent portions, and had good flavour - even my picky mama approved!

Fitzgerald is a Chinese seafood restaurant in North Perth. The restaurant features a simple interior with huge water tanks at its corners and sides and a dusty dining room with screeching chairs.

My mates and I were attracted by the “live” seafood waddling in the tanks and ordered a live lobster with ginger and lobster and flat egg noodles. The live lobster was delicious - any live seafood in Australia is a rare commodity. The lobster meat was springy and sweet. However, the egg noodles was overcooked and was mushy and soggy. More should be done 😃

Very disappointing, the take-away Szechuan beef dish was @ 85% roughly diced onion and capsicum with about 6 small portions of beef . The special fried rice was far from special, very bland with little to distinguish it from the boiled rice at a third of the price. The décor was last updated when Menzies was in government and the service was lacklustre to say the least. Perth has some of the best Asian dinning experiences available, unfortunately Fitzgerald Seafood restaurant is not one of them, best avoided.

Good food and service in a relaxed atmosphere. The special stir fry is quite nice as was the king prawn with salted egg yolk. The decor is pretty basic looking, but you're going for the food after all. We'd definitely go back for the nice food and friendly service.

This restaurant is located across north Perth plaza.
When I am feeling lazy to cook, I just give them a call and pick them up and my dinner is served.
But last night we decided to have it there.
In term of the place: a touch up would be good.
Service and food: was excellent
So far, they never fail me.
Love it

Very tender beef in the Cantonese fillet steak but it should be called onion with beef and Cantonese sauce, as onion took up most of the dish. The steamed chicken with shallots and ginger was delicious and the fried rice ok, but not amazing.

Still in love with the Shanghai Dumplings here. Constantly recommending to friends and family who want a restaurant that is reasonably priced, has good food and a peaceful atmosphere.

A simple restaurant that does good food.
We frequent a lot for lunch and dinner and dishes are always top notch.
Service is generally quick and portion sizes are decent. good value.

Inedible meal. Apart from getting the order wrong the food had been clearly microwave heated. The fried fish soggy, the vego special friend rice gluggy. It's been a bit hit and miss at this place for years but this took the cake. Won't ever eat here again.

Favourite. Always busy with large tables of families enjoying beautiful presented food.
We have tried many dishes and enjoyed each one. My favourite being the home made tofu
and crispy chicken with vinegar dressing. .
Cheap, cheerful and authentic with friendly staff.

Excellent Singapore Chilli Crab - The mud crab was not in season but we had the snow crab which was full of meat and very tasty. The little fried buns were perfect too. Service was excellent as well.

Lunch. Ordered a main and an entree, the entree never came... The main... Spare ribs with black beans and fried noodles... Fatty lumps on bone, battered and fried. And a few black beans and greasy noodles..

Won't be back.

Ordered some prawns..seemed like we ordered onions... Good service though

Fantastic Fitzgerald. I am a fan of this restaurant and it is a family regular. They have a great variety of dishes, with good service. Portion sizes are also reasonable. Great find!

Always busy ............ Been here a few times over the last couple of years but haven't reviewed yet. Was here Sunday evening with family - 5 of us. Several dishes and I can't remember all of them. Overall usually pretty good. This time I thought the pork ribs in Peking sauce were a little poor on the quality (too much bone and fat - not enough meat) although the sauce was tasty . Salted fish with chicken fried rice was yummy.
Most of the other dishes were seafood which I am not really into - but there wasn't much left afterwards so it must of been ok.
Very attentive staff, as usual.

The restaurant is cosy and the staff is quite friendly. Had a simple meal with my family of 3 and in general it's above satisfactory. The fried chicken with special sauce is scrumptious. However, the vegetables with crab meat sauce was not fantastic.

Excellent food and service. This is by far one of the best local chinese restaurants in North Perth. The food is served fresh and tasty. I would definately recommend it to anyone looking for a great night eating out
Jenny Tu
Great Chinese food with some interesting flavours and menu items such as the pumpkin and eggplant chips. Juicy perfectly cooked crispy chicken. Best of all was the great service that is often missing in a Chinese restaurant.

Only place that my picky vegan sister in law will tolerate. V good service and food especially since hong kong bbq quality has gone done
SQUiD
This place dishes up some seriously tasty Chinese food using quality fresh ingredients not heavily laden with artificial flavours or colours, msg or cornflour. I adore the homemade tofu they serve with enoki mushrooms and bok choy - great blend of flavours and silky smooth tofu. Food never takes long to make it to the table after ordering and you will always get exactly what you order - their consistency needs to be applauded. Staff friendly and attentive (but not overly so) and if not busy stop by the table for a chat (this includes the chef). Simple but comfortable restaurant. Aside from great food and service the location makes it an attractive alternative to Northbridge. Always easy to get a park. Recommended as a great spot for family dinners or casual meal for two.

Excellent quality of food and service, highly recommended.. The title likely says everything you need to know I reckon. I can't say a single bad word about the several times I have eaten here.
The menu has good variety for anyone who is struggling to decide on something to eat. The service is absolutely excellent and I found when you share dishes in groups that the overall cost is always rather cheap for this day and age. I honestly always think the bill must be wrong, but it never is. For me this place simply represents good value for money. I particularly recommend it for large family meals. Booking is recommended, which is a good sign, but they will always try and fit you in.

Hidden gem. This chinese restaurant is a hidden gem tucked away in North Perth away from the hustle and bustle of Northbridge.

We ordered 4 dishes today. The pork ribs, lamb claypot stew, tofu with snow peas and mushrooms and roasted chicken.

The pork ribs were served in a lovely sauce, no obvious lumps or bumps unlike some places which shows the chefs could not be overly bothered to eliminate the corn starch used to thicken it. The pork ribs were also of a nice bite-able size.

Lamb claypot stew was done nicely as well. I would have prefer it to have more spices for the kick but what we got suited the rest of the table and they liked it so that's not too bad.

Tofu, snowpeas and mushrooms. Standard fare as a vegetable dish in a chinese restaurant. Everything was done just nice, snowpeas were still crunchy and mushrooms have loads of time to soak in the sauce.

Roasted chicken. Standard fare, no complaints. Chicken was still nice and moist when served. Skin was still crispy.

Had the standard fare of steamed rice and chinese tea.

The other thing that was a nice touch was the serving of desserts post the meal. In some restaurants, they have forgone this already and if you want desserts, you have to order it.

We were served slices of watermelon and a bowl each of green bean soup. This in my opinion is a nice touch and show that the restaurant appreciates your business.

However, I am not sure whether it was because we were dining with regulars or was it standard fare for everybody.

But nevertheless, if you are looking for good chinese food, hate fighting for parking and absolutely dread having to deal with the denizens of Northbridge, I would recommend this place immediately.

And a final addendum, post desserts, we sat around for about 30 minutes gas bagging and catching up. There was not one single occasion when the wait staff cleared our dishes or top up the tea that we made to feel that since we have eaten our fill already, it's time to vacate their premises.

Great!. We like it so much we eat here nearly every week - and we're not the only ones who do so.

Possibly the best chinese restaurant outside of Northbridge.
Lisa Fini
Not bad. The wasabi prawns were excellent, fillet steak very tender and other dishes fine. Quick efficient service and large servings.

One of the best causal chinese restaurant. The service is good.. very friendly and attentive

food = as the title says.. one of the best Chinese restaurant in Perth... i pretty much like all the dishes I have tried there...

esp love the steamed chicken with vegies... so tender and not overcooked...

and their wonton chicken.. you need to pre-order but omgoodness.. it's good

it's not expensive for the servings they give you (pretty decent serving size, which is always good)

i recommend you to make a booking if you are going on thurs.. coz it's always busy!!!

highly recommended + will return for sure

On nights where we are completely lazy to cook, Fitzgerald Seafood Restaurant is probably our first pick. (Second being Siena's, foodication coming soon)

This was one of the nights that we decided, no cooking, lets eat out. We frequent this place a few too many times which brings me to dishes that we would normally order.

The Hot and Sour soup is a must have, this soup makes its name proud. Pig's Stomach is probably my favourite internal organ, not for everyone, but our entire family loves it. Sweet and Sour pork ribs, slightly different to the ones without bones, but delicious all the same. (My favourite is at James St Kitchen, but as they closed down a while ago, (it is now Meet Fresh) we come here for it instead). Finally, their spinach broth with three types of egg

Overall it was a great and very yummy meal! The waitstaff was very patient in explaining the dishes to me when I asked! I like that. I’m planning to bring my mum here for her birthday dinner next month. Hope to try out a few more of their special dishes!
