Hunter and Barrel is one of the restaurants at the new hub in Whitfords Shopping Mall. It occupies quite a large space with an open kitchen and friendly staff. Every time I had previously tried to book, the restaurant was pretty much fully booked, so it was nice to finally get a table. The ‘barrel’ menu is a very impressive wine, beer and spirits list with seasonal specials and tempting cocktails. The ‘hunter’ menu showcases steak, ribs and skewers, with a few sharing ‘feast’ options and several hearty pub fare options like pie, lamb shoulder, and schnitzel. there is a vegetarian skewer options, but this is not really a venue for non-meat eaters. (NB Since this original post, Hunter and Barrel have introduced some more vegetarian friendly menu options).
Extensive drinks menu, good quality meat, attentive staffs and classy atmosphere. We ordered the sharing platter and is absolutely blown away by how good the Portuguese chicken skewers and beef short ribs are. Might be crowded on weekends so be sure to make a reservation to avoid dissapointment.
Went with a group and had the $35 lunch special, excellent food and value. Everyone said they would go back.
Came a here a with a group of good friends. Love the atmosphere here. The service was exceptional and prompt. Last but not least the food was delicious generous portions and very good quality. We enjoyed everything we ordered (Scallops, Squid, Hot cheese dip, Mac and Cheese, mashed potato, Pastry wrapped Lamb shank, Rib eye, Eye fillet and Harissa carrots. The cocktails were delicious too! A great place for dinner especially if you work in the CBD. Close to public transports.
