Review Bistro Fleix - Perth

Gilles Robveille
Good quality cuisine. Food is prepared with care and taste. Portions could be a little bit bigger. Bread and a nice little salad propely seasoned with a vinaigrette, shallots and garlic served with the main would be a plus. Removing the crumbs before serving the next dish would be nice.

Really good food, great service, relaxed surroundings. I had the chicken, husband had the Whiting, both good. Great chips! - many thanks.

Food was very good, can recommend the king prawn starter (make sure to get some bread to dip in the remaining oil - fantastic), seared salmon and duck leg. Service was not amazing when we went.

We have been back here twice for our anniversaries and always loved it. Make sure you sign up for the birthday club and you will get main meals free on your birthdays and anniversaries (when another main meal is purchased). So it worked out to be $67 for 2 courses meals for both of us. Some reviews mentioned that portion was small however we found them alright. To the opposite, we found the “entrée/snacks” portion to be quite generous. The $10 beef croquette was a generous 6 pieces decent sized balls. As mentioned by other reviewer, staffs are super attentive and helpful. Thank you Bistro Felix!

A gem of a find in Subi. First time here tonight and we will be returning. Service was above and beyond. Owner Jeremy and his team were all so friendly, we felt incredibly well looked after. Food was delicious. I had the beef fillet, my partner has the fish & chips - both excellent! Looking forward to our next meal here.

This is one of our favourite restaurants, not only in Subi but in Perth. The food is DEVINE and service is always friendly. I must make a special mention to Misty, Anastasia and Retno. There was a rather large group of people at one of the tables who were a bit loud and had maybe one too many. The staff dealt with the customers in a very professional manor (they left happy) and we were thoroughly impressed. would recommend!

Loved the food, wine and service! We booked the private room at the back and it fitted 13 of us comfortably. The food selection is eclectic and there is something for everyone. The drinks list was long and varied and had my favourite St Clair sauv blanc! Highly recommend this lovely restaurant.

Beautiful food and excellent service, what more could you ask

Been coming here for a few years now – look out for the special deals (e.g. birthday, entertainment book, etc) which make it worth the money. <br/><br/>Excellent selection of wines and beautiful seafood are the highlights. Last time I was here we ordered oysters, steak tartare, truffle fries and the duck main course. The duck totally exceeded my expectations with perfectly rendered skin, pink flesh – paired with crispy eggplant croquette and finished with an exquisite jus. Steak tartare was good but the cured egg was a bit hard, and the truffle fries had some but not enough truffle flavour. On the dessert side - crepes Suzette are a sure winner vs. the moelleux which is more like your basic run-of-the-mill chocolate cake...<br/><br/>Overall I like Bistro Felix - it's a charming, laid back wine bar & bistro with good food and a warm vibe.

Cycling group dinner not bad food tasty enough poor service took ages to get drinks and even then wasn’t sure if they got it right looking to us to confirm it was ok, will be be back NOT SURE

Wine eye gouging! Went there the other day for birthday lunch. Ordered a Fat Bastard Pinot Noir from the limited wine list. Charged me $50. The wine is available in bottleshops for $13.99. I know there is a markup on alcohol, but 357%?  That is blatant eye gouging if ever I have seen. Not even  quaffer quality. Why would you do something like that? Shame on you Bistro Felix, you won't get my custom anymore, nor any of our friends will be coming again

We had lunch there on a Saturday. Kids eat free on Saturdays when adults order main dishes but have to pay for it when you use EB discount. We had squid ring, snapper, beef burger and my little daughter had steak. The dishes were a little bland for my liking. The only thing I liked was the cauliflower on snapper dish. Everything tasted ok, it’s not bad but nothing stands out and worth coming back for.

Went there for lunch with my 3.5 y.o son today as I received 1 for 1 birthday offer, when I stepped into the restaurant, the waitress was sitting down with her laptop, she didn’t even stand up and greet me, just tell me where my seat was, so I had to figure out myself which table it was, waiting for 5 minutes, no menu given, she was still sitting there, so I had to go to the counter and get the menu myself and tell her I am ready to order. She asked me whether I am still waiting for someone, I said no, only me and my son, so I ordered 2 dishes from large plates section( the requirement of the birthday deal),she said to me ‘you better finish it’, i was shocked for what she said to us! I would give high rating if the service wasn’t that poor .... <br/>

No better than a pub meal.  Had a two course 'special' before a live performance. Squid entree was just commercial frozen, crumbed squid rings with a bit of chilli & salt sprinkled on top.  Mushroom pie of partner was gluggy. Bread was one slice each from a supermarket bread stick. My sirloin steak was a cold thin slice of meat, overcooked and on a sizzle plate which was itself cold.  A blob of rocket at one end and supermarket straw fries at the other end. My wife's fish was okay but on a gluggy bed of tired mash.  It took at hour to get our main, but most frustrating was watching the meals get cold on the servery counter (no IR lights) whilst the numerous female waiters stood around chatting.  Waiters pleasant but no-one seemed in control. Cook didn't seem to care either.  For $113 it was inferior to an average pub meal.  Can see now why there were so few diners on a Thursday night, despite peak Comedy Festival in vicinity.  When the food is average, and no-one cares at front of house, it will struggle in tough times.

I had terrible food here. The duck leg confit was just dry topped with sauce.  The charcuterie board was really small and expensive. The wine list is mostly by the bottle.

We had a business dinner here tonight and we were happy that we chose felix. There was a bit of confusion to begin with but it was soon cleared up. <br/><br/>Our meal started with beautiful tapas which the highlight really:)<br/><br/>There was a set menu but everyone seemed happy.<br/><br/>The all French crew were fabulous

With the recent run of sunny winter days we took the opportunity when in Subiaco last week to stop in at Bistro Felix and take up a table on the deck outside – filtered sunlight under shade and a gentle breeze made for a perfect lunchtime setting. The menu offered a range of small and large sharing plates and a selection from these, together with a glass of wine or two from their well put together wine list, completed a very enjoyable lunch.

Lovely restaurant and atmosphere. Friendly professional service. Came for lunch. Well presented and tasty meals. Have been here a number of times over the years and enjoy this restaurant.

2nd time ive dined here. The first time, we had an enjoyable experience with the food albeit there were some issues with the service. We had a table booked but upon arrival(on time), our table had been given away to a bunch of ladies. Not quite sure how that can happen when the table was booked under the name of a male. So we had to wait for another table to become available although it didnt take long.<br/>On this occasion we had the pork belly, cooked well & quite tender. The mushroom tarts were beautiful, my dish of the day. The Duck confit was nice but ive had better & fish of the day was ok. We decided not to try the desserts on this occasion. Service was attentive & we had a cosy booth out the back.

Always great food and service. The atmosphere is fabulous too. Highly recommend for dinner. Have created a lovely al fresco area which is great on warmer nights.

I feel like I must have gone to a different restaurant - the food was so bad. Hamburger and chips isn't very French, although the Spaghettini and Crab was - a lot of french can't cook great pasta.<br/>The night started badly when a glass of prosecco came out in a spumante glass. Quickly followed by a minuscule piece of baguette served very elegantly such that at least you thought the bread was going to be warm, but no such luck.<br/>On to the rather expensive spaghettini. I have never been served such badly cooked pasta in my life. Not only was it so overcooked it  stuck together as a big blob, it was also cold. The crab sauce could have easily been tinned crabmeat as it was so overcooked as well.<br/>To cap the night off, one of our party who had the hamburger and chips spent the rest of the night revisiting it in the bathroom.<br/>Not good, stick to just having a drink here, it might be safer.

I love bistro felix and I'm so happy that it's still open. The French food served here is delicious and traditional. I suggest sticking to seafood here as that is what they do best.

Bistro Felix has been on our to do list for some time pleased we finally made it there. Service attentive and efficient upon arrival. Promptly ordered our selection of dishes - and waited and waited .... whilst the restaurant was busy it wasn't packed and we were a late sitting. We were almost at the point of asking when all our dishes arrived at the same time. Shame given we had ordered the charcuterie board and then some warm dishes - didn't quite work! However, the food didn't disappoint - the blood sausage salami and wild boar meat tasty - could suggest that the wild boar be sliced more thinly. As for the Gnocchi with brown butter, sage, mushroom and feta fabulous tastes, little heavy on the oil. Stand out for me was the <br/>Calves liver, Brussel sprouts, cranberries and toasted almonds - just a shame we only had a sliver of liver!

You know... it wasn't great. It was fine, but it wasn't great. <br/><br/>We ordered a bunch of starters which were nice. Especially the chicken parfait, that was amazing. For mains, I ordered the lamb roast which was cooked fine, but didn't have a great deal of flavour to it. Cocktails were 10/10. <br/><br/>Our waitress, who seemed to be new, was lovely. However, I could hear other staff barking orders at her which just made me feel a bit uncomfortable. I appreciate you have to train new staff, but I didn't terribly like it being in my face. Anyway, all the other staff never smiled and seemed a bit snooty? <br/><br/>So all in all I got a half decent feed, but nothing to brag about.

Went to BF for anniversary dinner. On the website you can join and you get complimentary meal on birthdays and anniversaries when you get a meal from the large plate menu. Is very good deal and highly recommend! Also 4:00 to 6:0 they have happy hour where oysters are $2 and beer is $10 and wine $6 and their special cocktail was $14. He had a dozen oysters, i had the chorizo and olives and baguette ($10..v nice). He had beers, i tried the cocktail special but tbh didn't like it. We asked them if they could make us a caipiroska without sugar which they did and it was amazing and refreshing and icy cold ( think they charged $16). We also hadthe sweet potato crisps which were nice but needed salt. For my free main i went with the burger. It was nice but the bread roll was way way waaaaay too thick. Also was weirdly sweet. He had the fish of the day. The skin was super crunchy but the fish was a bit too moist. It was a nice light meal. We also got the sidenof asparagus w butter which was delish and slightly charred but in the best way. For desert had the apricot cheese cake which was lovely. Service was great and it was a lovely nighy. Also when staff found out it was our anniversary they brought us two chocolates w caramel filling. Turned out if we had told them in advance we would have had sparklers in our cheese cake! So tip...if u got for birthday or anniversary, let them know! tip 2 register for your free meal twice a year... is very good deal!

This restaurant took me by surpise. Walking in i was expecting something like bar food but this place by far exceeded itself into fine dining. The waiters were plesant on arrival and were very friendly. As we sat down and engaged in conversation we looked at the menu and simple enough it was straight forward. Food was very quick to come out. Usually id give a grace of 30mins waiters bought it out in 21mins which was pretty good by my standards. Quality was great and high presentation. Deserts were a lil on the average but presentation was great. So only down falls of the night.. decor needs update bar area good and my damn fries didnt come out but the guys took it off our bill so im happy. Having said that were there for the food and experience of that food so overall great place will be back soon

This is one our most favourite go-to places where we always know the staff are amazing, food delicious and we always feel like it was a fantastic night. The pork belly and beef as usual was just so good!

Had a very enjoyable night a few weeks back, food was beautiful, service was first class and the wine was even better.  I was very hungry and almost licked the plate.  Will be back for sure

I read some reviews before coming, which were mostly negative, and I couldn't disagree more. From the moment we walked in the service was 5 star. The food was beyond delicious. The atmosphere was a little subdued, but relaxed, and personally I prefer that to tunes being so blasted so loud that you can't even hear each other. I would recommend to anyone seeking a romantic date, or upscale evening. <br/>

Coming here at 2pm, after a 3km cross country race, I was pretty hungry😉 So I ordered the confit duck leg with mash potato👍🏻 the mash potato was creamy and smooth but the duck leg was dry😞💘
Mimifama
The mains were excellent. I had the confit duck while hubby ordered the eye fillet which was so tender. The disappointment was the shoestring fries which were undercooked and soggy.

Awesome place! Beautiful staff, especially mrs Orianna! Takes care of us whenever we go, friendly, professional and just the best! A must go place in Subi!

@chali we enjoyed the best food ever. Gotta love the French and will continue to come back. The service was awesome as well and can't wait to try the wines 😋😋

Absolutely disgusted by how down hill this place has gone. I went years ago a few times and it was one of the best in town. Now, the service is unconsidered, too pushy at times, disinterested at others. The only smile I almost got was when I was rude enough to say no thanks to some tap water. The waitresses were uncoordinated too, conflicted with one another. Apparently, having a job is a bad thing these days. They would have enjoyed a poke in the eye with a mushy buttered baby carrot more!<br/><br/>The food was ok, maybe a three star. But even that was all messed up. One main arriving with the starter, steak over cooked (but tasty to be fair).<br/><br/>Nobody asked how the meal was, probably because the answer would be tiresome and inevitable.<br/><br/>This is most definitely one to avoid at all costs.

Brunch on the weekend was a reasonably pleasant affair. The Aperol Spritzes were lively and pretty good value at $8. The eggs with crab and asparagus were yummy. The waitress was okay to begin with but then disappeared. We would have ordered more food and drinks but no-one ever came back to our table. Not sure if the staff need more training or just need staff who aren't lazy.

Decided to try a night out in Subi as we hadn’t been for a while and also wanted to try Bistro Felix as it had been some time since we’d dined there too.<br/><br/>Subi was really quiet for a Saturday night, as we got out of the cab on corner of Hay Street we walked up Rokeby Road and we literally saw no one. <br/>As we approached the restaurant we expected to hear a bit of banter or at least some music but no…<br/>The atmosphere as soon as we entered was very sombre, it was quite busy but if there was any music playing you couldn’t hear it.<br/><br/>We had a table of 6 and all had entrees and mains 2 of us had dessert. I cant speak for the others but we had Carpaccio and sashimi, the Carpaccio was really tender but unfortunately had not one ounce of flavour, there was no dressing on it so it was boring, the sashimi was quite thick and a bit chewy but otherwise ok. <br/><br/>For mains we had the duck leg confit, both of ours were extremely overcooked and really dry, not very tasty so the entire dish was not very enjoyable.<br/><br/>The service also had a lot to be desired, I don’t think any of the staff cracked a smile the whole evening. <br/><br/>The red plastic chairs really don’t look right either; they would be more suited to a café! <br/><br/>So all up, not a great experience and we can quite honestly say we wont go back, there are so many great places to choose from so Bistro Felix wouldn’t get a look in!
The Current Munchie
Having been there for years, this is probably my 5th visit to this place, and I would say that they have definitely improved over the years, and have found themselves in a niche of being a great provider of good wine, and rather decent food. This time though... I was left a little underwhelmed unfortunately.

Bistro Felix was once a really lovely place to have a meal. It is no longer. If you are looking for overcooked seafood, reaheated food, bearnaise too peppery to eat - perhaps I should give the chef my recipe (Bocuse). Well you will find it here. Such a shame. And wine is very overpriced to top it all of. I was looking forward to having dinner here again after a while away but will not be returning in a hurry.

Been there twice, the food is excellent and the service is great.  Orianna would have to be one of the best waitresses I have come across. I would definitely go again.  Love it.

Usually I rate Bistro Felix 4/5 for standard and cuisine.  However a birthday club (wife) booking I made was rejected because it was a Saturday and the small print does say no birthday club bookings on Saturday.  Nevertheless, the booking was accepted although it is not clear if the person receiving the booking understood it was a birthday club booking and not a booking for a birthday.  So there was grounds for confusion on both sides.Once we were refused birthday club booking we said we would try somewhere else.  Surprisingly there was no attempt at a compromise.  Fortunately that gave us an opportunity to try Bistro de Artiste down the road on Hay St and enjoyed true French cuisine experience. The wait staff were attentive (and French) as much as they could as the restaurant was quite full.  Love the food experience and wines.  We'll be going back.  Thanks Bistro Felix for your in-flexibility.

Bistro Felix is on our list of places to revisit, though it is not always consistent in quality or service. This time, for lunch, it was pretty good. The restaurant was quite full but service did not suffer. The wait staff were attentive, friendly and efficient. The food and drinks came out in good time - not too quick, not too slow. Love their wine list (though like many Perth restaurants, it is overpriced). The menu is designed for sharing and that worked out well for us.  We shared: Beef Croquettes, Rabbit Rillettes, Gruyère Cheese Tart and Duck Leg Confit. In general, the food was good. Well prepared and presented and good flavours. One exception was the pastry crust on the Gruyère tart, which was burnt. I'm a bit surprised they even served it in that condition. I guess we could have sent it back but the filling was great so we ploughed on. My wife thought the duck confit was a bit on the dry side but I was OK with it.  They had a featured French red wine by the glass, Château Laroche Joubert Merlot Cab Sauv, which neither of us liked (I suspect it was corked, but again I didn't send it back; maybe I should have), but I can recommend the Two Paddocks (owned by Sam Neill, the actor) Picnic Pinot Noir - lovely wine. We weren't happy when my wife's sparkling wine was served in a coupe glass. Very retro and very bad. Everyone knows you DO NOT serve sparkling wine in a coupe, even if it isn't champagne. It just ruins the wine. But we didn't let it spoil our enjoyment. It was very pleasant sitting near the open front window with a slight breeze coming in. The atmosphere was very conducive to a relaxing afternoon.

Something a little different. Nice atmosphere, menu choice adequate , food 7 out of 10. Apple tarte dessert was particularly nice as presented in a different way with lots of Apple. Service, stilted. Arrival of food poorly timed in that side dish of vegetables whilst delicious and worth the wait did not arrive until 3/4 of the meal was consumed, Coffee had to be sent back as was very burnt and bitter. Went on gold card voucher , certainly wouldn't return to pay full price.

Tasty Main Course - Nice Drinks - Poor Desert. The flounder and goat cheese tart were both very tasty. You need to order side dishes to accompany your main dish as it doesn't come with any potatoes/rice/etc or veg. The wine selection is good but on the pricey side. The desert we had was a disappointment. It was advertised as a Peach and Thyme Crumble with Almond Crème Pâtissière but that it was not. It came out as some almond crème patissière with some peach and biscuit pieces put on top. Not what I was expecting for $16. Although the almond crème patissière was tasty, it wasn't a crumble. I don't eat out to eat something I could make at home.

Great service, bad set menu. Went for valentine's dinner for set menu. The manager was exceptional updating us throughout about the table, bar tenders knew there cocktails and provide great service!<br/><br/>We attended the set menu which had minimal choice, no option entree - the starter was put together like a finger food unrefined version of what we are used to at bistro felix, our mains were over cooked and seemed they were reheated more like pub food that was used to cope with the amount of customers, the macaroon dessert was over the top and oversized.<br/><br/>It is a pity that the menu was such a let down, as the service was good from the manager and bar tender knowledge was great. The other staff members were friendly but didn't have a good understanding of hospitality etiquette in table settings and reaching across other guests- Would not go back again for a set menu.
Mikaim01
Great service, terrible owner. Was absolutely disgusted the other day when we heard the owner yelling at his staff, we had received fantastic service, the owner inappropriately yelled at his staff for all of us to hear, he was irrational and vulgar, we felt so sorry for the staff, we will not be going there again, dear owner you have lost our respect and regular business
Oliver
Good food once we sussed out the menu.. Went to Bistro Felix for my 1 year anniversary with my wife.<br/><br/>We had a great seat at the front near the open windows on to the street.<br/><br/>Wine was a little bit on the pricey side but good, the menu was a bit disjointed but once it was explained to us by the lady serving us we were happy with what we ordered.<br/><br/>Loved the pappardelle but could have been a larger serving.<br/><br/>An enjoyable meal overall and we will be back.
Bruce4realty
Absolutely fabulous. My wife and I went for dinner at Felix on Friday night. I ordered a steak ( which was very tasty and cooked just the way I liked it) and my wife ordered the flounder. My wife started to eat the flounder and found that it was not to her liking as she was used to the flounder we have in NZ. The waitress asked how the meal was and when my wife said she found the flavour strange they offered her a choice of another main free of charge. She then ordered the pasta which was delicious. The maître de then came over to discuss the meal and talked about ways that she and the chef could improve the presentation and taste of the flounder. <br/>What we found refreshing was that it wasn't all about the restaurant but it was about how we as the customers could enjoy our experience at the restaurant. A refreshing change when most of the other restaurants in town are racking up their prices and don't really give a fig about their customers. I would give this restaurant 10 out of 10.
Jennifer1558
Excellent. I have been to bistro Felix 3 times in the last couple of months and I have very much enjoyed the experience. Last week we were there for dinner, we were welcomed on arrival and seated in a lovely quiet booth and had a great waitress serving us. We shared entrees of bbq langoustine and some asparagus which were delicious. The main courses were perfectly cooked, roast chicken cooked 'sous vide' was so tender and a fabulous rack of lamb, also delicious. There is a vast wine list with some very good wines and although the desserts were tempting, we didn't have any. Highly recommended.

New menu underwhelming. We've been to this restaurant many times but on a recent visit we were very underwhelmed by the new menu. The last thing Perth needs is more sharing plates/tapas. Bistro Felix was one of the only places in Subiaco where you used to be able to get an entree and a main. Also this restaurant has always been tight with portion sizes. They simply aren't generous enough to do share plates. Gone are the lovely slow cooked specials like boeuf bourguignon and other French classics like the French onion soup and tarte tatin have also disappeared. The free bread to start with has also gone. I ordered the tuna sashimi (the clue was that is was in the section called "small bites"). Small bite more like - there must have been 20g of tuna - I could have put it all on one fork. And so much lime juice that it was more like ceviche than sashimi. My partner ordered the scallops which were beautifully cooked if plain. Main course was an $80 piece of Scotch fillet to share. For this price at least offer chateaubriand which would be 600g of meat rather than 400g of meat and 200g of fat. No sides included for that price either and when they say the chips are enough to share, they're not. We struggled for service and the wine didn't arrive until after we'd finished the entrees (sorry, small bites). We will be back, but not until after they change the menu back to classic bistro fare. It's such a shame as the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and has always been pricey but good.

Went for a much anticipated first visit for lunch - what a disappointment. Staff were very rude - interrupted us constantly mid-sentence rather than waiting politely for us to acknowledge them. No sooner had the last portion of my entrée gone into my mouth than our plates were whisked away. The waitresses spoke loudly to each other as they cleared our table. There was no warmth in the restaurant it was very regimental and vey rushed and unrelaxing. As for the food - chicken parfait was nice needed more of the sweet sauce. Duck was a disappointment - tough with rubbery skin. Accompanying mushrooms were just horrible - again needed more sauce. Had difficulty paying $16 for the pain d'epices - waitress advised was a poached pear - was so not poached. Friends had raved about their last visit but they were also disappointed. Never again.

Over priced and boring. I was really looking forward to my visit.....but! food was very disappointing. I dont think that italian pork sausage with fennel suggests slices of salami with gherkins. We ordered 4 tapas dishes which they refused to bring out together because the table was too small. $82 was expensive for four small dishes...maybe we were unlucky.
Sunnyoz
Boring...!!!!. Rude Service the worse in Perth, French cuisine but wasn't French, l think you should spend time in France before you called yourself French Restaurant, is an Insult To The French.<br/>No Flavour, Presentation really Bad, we will not come Back......

Very dissapointed with Bistro Felix last night. On our suggestion a table of six of us booked. Myself and my husband had been a year previously and really enjoyed it. This time was a different story. We were truly embarrassed at having recommended this place to the other two couples in our company.<br/>The steak tartare did not taste as it should, the goats cheese soufflé lacked flavour, the pork belly and my chicken was very underwhelming. On the upside the service was good as was the wine.<br/>I did not see the owner present last night and the restaurant was not very busy given that there was a docker match taking place in Patersons that same night. With the prices they charge the quality of food was unacceptable. <br/>We won't be back !

Sad ending to a great holiday for my wife and I. Having had this restaurant recommended we were looking forward to a good experience. Our initial waitress was wonderful and then it went down from there. Pasta dry and seafood overcooked, serving of wines was like being in a scene from Game of Thrones and apparently it is ok to interrupt conversation continuely by leaning across the table to collect plates etc. Expensive and underwhelming! Surely Perth has better to offer as our breakfast experience the next day was wonderful.

Great staff and food. Went to Bistro Felix for the first time tonight.<br/>The staff here were very attentive, and the food came out quickly, and was great. I had the lamb shank special, which was delicious, and the red wine jus was to die for. My friend had the duck breast and said it was delicious and well cooked. The highlight of the night by far was the chocolate soufflé for 2, which was definitely worth the wait. Would definitely go again.

Booked Saturday night for a family get together. Disappointed - chairs extremely uncomfortable, after 5 minutes the waitress hounded us to order our meals, when I informed her that we had just sat down & we'd like to order drinks she said "ok then what do you want?", (my cocktail took 20 minutes to arrive), she was back in 2 minutes asking for our order again, my mother & in-law felt pressured & ordered, I hadn't fully read through the menu (which is ridiculously laid out & is more like a cafe menu (cheap & laminated). The food was very AVERAGE, small portions, no accompaniments, my 15 y/o son ordered the spinach & ricotta flan & commented that he was glad McDonalds was on the way home. My 73 y/o mum-in-law had the same dish & agreed!<br/>All up extremely disappointed, if we weren't rushed we would have ordered entree & mains & some of us desserts.<br/>Not an experience I'll be repeating!

Very disappointed. Bistro Felix used to be one of my reliable favourites but not anymore. The menus look cheap and the food did not deliver. My entree of frisée with lardons was nice but the vinegrette lacked, well, vinegar. My main was cold, largely due to being served on a cold plate so my saffron tagliatelle was in a cold clump. The prawns were tasty but somewhat fluffy due to being over cooked. Nice pipis though. Desserts were good as was the service. I will not be returning any time soon.

Amazing all round. Amazing amazing.<br/>Service is awesome, the food is fresh, French and beautiful. I would go here again and again if I could afford it! Have been twice now and both times have been utterly impressed with everything. My favourite is the steak tartare. Try it. But allow a few hundred bucks for a decent dinner out with wine. Take your entertainment card.

Impressed. I dined at Bistro Felix last night for the first time. I arrived around 9.30pm but was still accommodated. I had scallop for entree which was cooked perfectly and was very tender and juicy. <br/>I had the duck breast for main and I have to say it to was cooked perfectly, medium, moist breast meat with crispy skin. Just how duck should be cooked. Presentation was beautiful but unfortunately I forgot to take photos before I started to enjoy my meal.<br/>I also managed desert which was out of this world. <br/>The service was fantastic and all staff were very attentive. My dining experience was one of the best I have had in a long time. I will definitely be returning.

5 years running.... Have been going to Bistro Felix for about 5 years now as a "go to" fine(ish) dining experience in a casual setting. At our latest visit I must say we were shocked by the change in decor and the basic menu. They have replaced the white table cloths with cheap veneer wood tables and the chairs are now odd red plastic (uncomfortable) "works of art" which would be better suited to a funky outdoor cafe.<br/>Staff: Our waitress was very attentive, though slightly pushy when we arrived, to the point we thought they were trying to rush us out (this was amended later when we specifically stated that we didn't want to be rushed). Overall quite good.<br/>Food: Had the quail and a souffle to start, both of which were quite good (quail could have done with a bit more colour as the skin was a bit rubbery, but was perfectly cooked inside and the sauce was fantastic). We both had the beef bourguignon for mains. The meat was perfectly cooked but I felt like yelling out "where's the sauce" when it arrived. The meat (piles of it) was sticky, falling apart and lovely but with no liquid at all it didn't really fit the bill of a beef bourguignon (as there was no sauce at all) and was on the whole a bit too rich. Desert was the spice cake with rum and raisin ice cream to share. Was ok, but the ice cream was very alcoholic.<br/>Overall: total bill for 2.5 courses and a bottle of wine ($50) was roughly $180. As a rule of thumb, if I can cook it at home for cheaper (and better) I am not going to pay to sit on plastic chairs to have it cooked for me.

Nice Bistro, Good service. Nice bistro... Service was great attentive yet not intrusive, been here a few times and on the whole it has been very good, menu has changed recently, food was ok but not the best, I had the duck which was tough and over cooked, but these things happen some times... Overall not too bad, especially if you use the entertainment card.

Amazing food! Great wine list, and you have to try the desserts! Bistro Felix is one of few restaurants that ticks all the boxes. Will definitely be back and recommend to others.

Not bad. Didn't have a problem with the service. Don't order the steak cooked anything longer than rare. The chef wont do it. Handy for me, I wouldn't make a special effort to go.

Oh lala. Dinner on wednesday 4th june. where to start? entrees of scallops, quail and goats cheese soufflé, delicious and on discussion hard to pick a favourite! mains... The duck and seafood tagliatelle..... with sides of asparagus and french beans, just wonderful. <br/>we decided on a share desert of the chocolate souffle ( which allowing for the 20-30 minute cooking time) let dinner settle beautifully. Desert was a treat, just right for sharing, amazing. <br/>the staff and service was attentive. . we will be back for more, thank you
Jenny Bean
The soufflé is amazing! Great friendly staff.

Great Friday lunch. Went here last Friday for lunch. Three of us all had the scallops for entrée - they were very fresh and plump and well flavoured. To of us had the fish of day which was Atlantic salmon, which we thought was cooked to perfection, and really well complimented by the sauce. The other guest had the duck which he raved about. The restaurant is lovely and open looking over Rokeby Road. Service and staff were faultless. Lunch for 3 including sparkling waters and a drink each came to under $200 which I think represented very good value for the standard of food and service

Its a nice restaurant and thats about it. ...nothing special to write about. Customer service is average too.

Had an enjoyable meal here last night. Scallops for my entree - delicious and tomato salad for him - also delicious. Chateaubriand for 2 as a main was brilliant. Sommaliers choice Pinot Noir - highly recommend. Negatives - service was a let down. We had to wait 45 mins between entree and main and weren't offered more wine even though our glasses were empty for over half an hour. Would try again for the ambiance and quality food.

Great Restaurant - Fantastic Service. This restaurant impressed my wife and I at a recent dinner. We ordered and enjoyed the Quail and Steak Tartare (almost main size) entrees and and the Beef Fillet (Very well cooked to rare and delicious) and Confit Duck mains. Apart from the food, we also thought the decor and ambience of the restaurant was perfect for a date night. we'll be back as the wife was eyeing off the seafood pasta at the next table and i'd love a second serving of the beef fillet. The great service also must be mentioned as the staff are very professional and made the evening even more enjoyable.

Food Heaven. When you first walk in, you notice the dimmed lighting and the European wine bar wall art, you immediately feel a little classy. <br/>Please wait to be seated, well no waiting was involved, service was so lovely here.<br/><br/>And the food, my god the food was just delicious. The goats cheese souffle was so soft and flavoursome. The scallops were perfectly cooked, so fresh and plump and sweet. The beef fillet to share was ordered for mains. It's really just meat and two veg, but something so simple, cooked so perfectly really makes your night. We were pretty full by dessert, so we ordered chocolate and mango mousse combination to share. The presentation was so beautiful. Amazing flavours and textures. <br/><br/>Bistro Felix is not exactly light on the wallet, but you get what you pay for. I would definitely go back, and I definitely recommend the place.

DISSAPOINTED. Had Bistro Felix on my list of new resturants in Perth but was dissapointed. Reasons (1) crammed table arrangement, (2) difficult to comprehend menu layout, (3) paying $45 for steak, chips, sauce and lettuce is OK providing it's cooked exactly as ordered, and (4) our waitress seemed to lack training in proper order taking. Expect better overall experience for fine dining. Keep it simple guys if you want 40 years of longevity like your competiton across Rockeby Road.
Jess
Service was attentive. Food was quite nice although limited menu, especially when pregnant, & both meals I wanted were for 2 people. 2% credit card surcharge on all cards is not acceptable. Overall 'nice' but not memorable, I won't rush back.

Honest Opinion. This place is overpriced for what you get. For example a small piece of eye fillet for $45 with a handful of chips on the side..seriously with a professional kitchen and chef's that are probably earning over 100k?!<br/><br/>Service on our night was excellent. Food was presented well but was slightly under seasoned. Scallops were spot on though. A small slice of baguette with butter at the start is a very nice edition. Cheese Soufflee entree was delightfully tasting but the pork rillette was a let down - stringy and an overbearing green taste.<br/><br/>Desserts were pretty good. Very pretty and precise. But again $14-16.<br/><br/>Limited wine menu and beers all bottled. My advice would be to reduce the number of beers and get a good tap.<br/><br/>Too many better places to go in Perth than come here again.<br/><br/>Staff were very polite.

Meh. For the price of most of the dishes I expect for a little bit better quality than what I've received. My wife and I have been about 3 times now, mostly just for the dessert chocolate souffle. If people are willing to spend the amount of money it costs to go here, then I'd suggest trying Rockpool or Nobu first. All that being said, the food is still quite nice and I've never had an unpleasant meal, it's just expensive.

Absolutely perfect... Each course was better than the last. The steak frites was incredible & the chocolate fondant with blueberry sorbet was heavenly! The service was wonderful too- just the right balance of attentiveness! I will definitely be back!

Pleasant. Been here a couple of times, was very nice both times, will be back sometime or another! thanks :)

We went for dinner about a week ago. Great service, lovely meal. All 4 of us were happy with our meals. The chicken, fish and steak were delish!

Good food, service and staff very average. I had dinner at Bistro Felix on Saturday evening, 14th December and found the dining experience to be average.<br/>There was a good selection of food and beverages, and everything came out in a timely manner.<br/>However, some staff couldn't understand english when i was ordering a simple drink, but this particular waitress had the biggest smile on his face.<br/>The other waitresse's seemed to not want to be there and her overall attitude in providing good customer service was extremely poor.<br/><br/>I think Bistro Felix could do a lot better with better staff moral. Cheer up the staff and it would make for a better dining experience for your customers.

Had lunch here today for my birthday.Dissapointed.Ordered the chateaubriand for two, medium.Came rare. Was sent back for more cooking.Still some of it was rare. The waiter explained their medium was a point more rare than most places what the???

Another fantastic meal! My fillet for mains was honestly the best steak I have had for a very long time. The service was perfeft, cocktails were delicious. Could not fault it!
Davo1963
Never again. It was all ok, but my partner and i made a big mistake in ordering steaks. You would have thought they bought them in a cheap supermarket, bland, tasteless and tough. Totally spoilt our night<br/><br/>Of course the waiter was all apologetic, but by then its too late. It looks like other customers have had the same issue before looking at the tripadvisor reviews, but nothing has been done. You have to presume they are making too much money and they just don't care.
Rhonda
The worst experience. My work colleagues and I had lunch at Bistro Felix few weeks back We chose the petite lunch. The steak was the worst I have ever tasted. Tough as old boots. Chips were drenched in oil. Food tasteless. Although the staff was very nice will never go there again.

Namyaf. Dined at Bistro Felix last night and all four of us were disappointed, although the entrees were really good and the waiter friendly and helpful the main courses were limited, overpriced and for scotch fillet a little tough. Beware of the really overpriced wine gone are the days of not feeling ripped off, wont be returning
Rach
Lovely!. I had a really pleasant dining experience with a group of friends, the waiter was extremely friendly and kind, and the food didn't fall short of the standards i was expecting! ( :
Joe
Liked it... Went there for my partner's bday and had the angus and fish of the day for mains. The steak was cooked beautifully and salmon too. the only downside was they could probably put more side dish for the salmon, it was just a fillet wrapped in paperbag with tiny amount of vegies in it.<br/><br/>for entree we had the squid and pork belly which was yummy..<br/>will be back :)
Andrew
Great Food. I always enjoy going to Bistro Felix as the food is delightful and the service is good too! Will be back in the near future!

Great service, delicious food, relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

This is one of our favourite restaurants. Food is consistently delicious and their fixed price 2 or 3 course menu is a very good deal. Pork belly entree is yummy and desserts never fail in the taste department. Only grumble is that alcoholic beverages are waaaay too expensive.

I have now used Bistro Felix on two occasions for business dinners and both times were wonderful meals with good service. I have had both the Duck Confit and a Steak with a red wine reduction and both were excellent. In both cases my guests were thrilled with the meals.
Epicuriouskat
Loved it! Had dinner on a Friday night, we had the beef cheek and lamb rack with a side of broccolini. All the food was delicious, the service was impeccable and the wine was perfectly matched.

Amazing Harvey beef, great service, would recommend. I will be returning.

Lovely Ambience & Amazing Food and Service. Vsited Bistro Felix last night after making a late dinner reservation. We waited at the bar for a couple of minutes but were attended to promptly by their friendly waitstaff. The booths that my partner and I were escorted to was comfy and very romantic for our date night. The service was impeccable with complementary bread and salted butter. The wines matched well with our meals too. The food....where do I start. It was perfect, start to end we were both impressed. We both ordered the beef fillet with a side of broccoli and confit potatoes, it is well worth every dime. We had no room for dessert but the wafting smell of the double chocolate souffle for two will be on the agenda for our next visit. Definitely one of my favourite restaurants in Perth.
Anita
Sloooow service. We stuck it out here because we got a nice seat by the window - but we needed the view because the service was so painfully slow. It took 15 minutes to get hold of a menu, another 10 mins to get a drink and we were in the restaurant over an 45 mins before we saw any bread to nibble on. No good reason for it - they were half full (even thought they were 'fully booked' when we made our reservation... yeah right). <br/><br/>The food was good - we got an entree each (apparently they 'ran out' of frittes that accompanied my husbands mussels, but the next table got some 5 mins later), and my salmon was nice. We shared the pork plate and as good as it was there was far too much... there is only so much solid meat 2 people can eat without anything to break it up. <br/><br/>Since we had been there for 3 hours and were only at mains we didn't bother waiting for the dessert menu... and after our plates weren't cleared 15 mins after finishing we walked up to the desk to pay.... goodness knows how long it would have been to get the bill - we probably would still be sitting there!<br/><br/>Edit: 13 May 2013 - Additional Comments by OP<br/><br/>To 'Pierre-Elie' (who has added a response to my comments as a review above), I have not told one word of a lie in this review. It is my opinion based on my experience in your restaurant. The share plate of pork was $65 and I can guarantee that you DID serve it because I ate it. Calling me a liar is offensive and not a good representation of your business. For shame.

Lovely lamb. Apart from the duck which was flavoursome but on the dry side, and a short interlude where the staff seemed a bit too preoccupied with a large group to notice that our empty mains plates had been waiting to be cleared for a bit too long, we had a very lovely meal. It's an intimate space with service generally the way I like it - attentive but not intrusive. The goats cheese souffle was truly delicious and I'd go so far as to say that the rack of lamb, with a smoky caponata was the best meal I've had in a long time....sadly it was on the other side of the table but it was a generous enough serve that I managed to sneak a good share. Very good value with the entertainment card. Will be back.

Yummy. In a word it was delicious - I had the gnocchi and it was sooo good! It wasn't on the menu when I went back for lunch so I had the fish dish which was equally yummy. Nice wine list and helpful staff who very attentive. Highlight of the meal was the charming French manager who was very suave indeed!
Bluebagger
Bluebagger. Went last night without a booking, and they squeezed us bot in ans ervice was great, but like othe reviewers said, duck was tough, and ocean trout tastless. Not worth going without E card. However my wife loved the French accents.. :)

Hoped for more. The staff are lovely and very professional but the food is terribly overpriced and portions are small. I had the duck with lentils (when I looked on their website's menu I was going to go for the rabbit but on the actual menu it was changed to pork) which was ok but I was still quite hungry afterwards. Certainly not worth the $40 they charge for it. The wine was by far the best part of the meal.<br/><br/>Sadly Perth seems to have a number of restaurants that charge a lot and offer very little and this is one of them. Definitely a voucher only restaurant.
FoodGloriousFood
Very disappointing and expensive. Waitress did not bring menu until reminded (after about 20 minutes). Main meal of duck was ordinary. Chocolate Souffle dessert was not cooked, needed a straw to drink it so sent back then it appeared on the bill . Started off with one waitress then had two waitresses at our table which added to the confusion. One said it was her first week and it showed. Won't be going back ! Over priced pinot was the best part of the evening. I am completely over paying big bucks in Perth for poor service and even worse food.
Stella
Good service, poor return. The special entree was Anchovies. In a tin, allbeit opened, on wooden board, with three tiny peices of bread, half a roll, oh and a quarter of a lemon. Seventeen dollars. I figure $2 or the tin, 30 cents for the lemon and a 50 cents for the bread. Thats $14.20 for labour. Good margin for owner, large portion of disappointment for customer.<br/>Wife had pate which was lovely. <br/>Beef for main was medium/well cooked but was like cutting a ball of rubber bands. Tasty though.<br/>Wife had chicken in a joux. more like chicken in coloured water that could only pray to be broth.<br/>Friends had a bad experience too, they have posted their comments already. <br/>Staff were good and were as gutted as we were about the poorish food.<br/><br/>I wonder if anywhere in Perth is value for money these days.
Food Review
Great food, great service. We had the meat platter for entree, beef fillet for main & lemon tart for dessert. The food was all lovely. We were there on a packed night & the service was second to none with the timing good between courses. We will be back.

So disappointed...... We re-visited Bistro Felix on the weekend following a fabulous birthday dinner there a year ago...how times have changed and sadly not for the better. While the service was good - the food was terribly disappointing and not what you expect when you are paying quite high prices.<br/><br/>The entrees were fine. For mains our table ordered the duck, 2 x steak and the chicken. We weren't able to cut the duck AT ALL - it has to be sent back - we were told it would fall off the bone. Both steaks (at $44 each) were extremely hard to cut and were tough, while the chicken lacked flavour.<br/><br/>The staff were extremely gracious and very apologetic, and happily replaced the duck however by the time the meal came to the table - the rest of our party had finished their meals. We gave dessert a miss in fear we would be disappointed.<br/><br/>It is such a shame.... and sadly we won't be returning.

Chasing the dollar. Agree with last review. We were also here for v day. Food was great but service terrible. Food came too quick. We almost received a second desert since no one knew were we were up to! Wait staff had to ask kitchen twice what was on set menu. Bill was wrong and took 20 minutes to sort out and same was happening for 2 other tables. <br/><br/>Go back on a slower night. Typical perth.

This place used to be amazing, but mgmt got word and now folk are shuffled through like cattle. Just had valentines day meal there, and the service couldn't have been more impersonal. Don't recommend if you want to remember fondly.

Anniversary Dinner. Great Service, great food. Would love to go again!

Below Par. We used to go to Bistro Felix fairly regularly for dinner - no longer! We were served cocktails, entrees and mains in a record time of 45 mins last night (in case you're wondering this is NOT a good thing in my opinion). <br/><br/>Our entrees arrived approx 3 mins after we ordered them. We were still drinking our cocktails and hadn't had time to order wine. The food was ho-hum a Confit Ocean Trout was pretty boring and lacked seasoning, the oysters were OK. The plates were promptly cleared the moment I put the last oyster in my mouth.<br/><br/>Main course (Sumac crusted lamb which had no sumac crust, my mum cooks a better rack of lamb and rabbit pie, yum) arrived less than 2 mins after our plates were cleared from entree. Again, we hadn't had time to order wine. Sadly our side of Asparagus had obviously been forgotten as it didn't arrive until our mains were completely cold five minutes later and we had asked for it, then as we were finishing our meals another plate of asparagus was brought and taken away when they saw we had it already.<br/><br/>When our main courses arrived so quickly we did ask the waitress why it was so quick and we were told it was because the kitchen was really organised because they weren’t very busy. Well based on the meal we had last night they are about to get quieter! The staff were all less than professional with our waitress spending a good portion of her evening giggling with one of the waiters. I expect more when I am paying $40 a dish!
