Review Lawley's Bakery Cafe - Perth

Love love love this place! Such a cosy little place for a coffee/cake/pastry/lunch! I came in on a rainy day and it was so nice to curl up on the comfy couch and read my book for a bit 🙂 friendly service without overdoing it. Delish pastries and coffee.

Called in for coffee and tea on a Saturday morning. Decided to have the coffee and cake special which included strawberry cheesecake. Marvellous cheesecake. Helpful staff. Lovely indoor venue with interesting artwork. Parking allowed outside in the street for 1 hour.

i've never been here but as soon as i walked in everyone was so nice!!! i couldn't choose what i wanted because everything looked so good so i got basically everything without it costing an arm and a leg and it was all delicious !!! the coffee was incredible too. i love it here i will definitely come back <3

I experienced ableist hate when the manager yelled at me for being disabled. I have complained to the owners and yelled back at the manager a nasty name. The owners have sided with their nasty manager and banned me from buying art from their walls and shop. I had been frequenting this Cafe for over a decade. I will contact the artist directly to but the art but I would strongly recommend giving this place a wide berth. Especially if you are disabled and don't like being yelled at to get out of the store because of your disability aid.

Arrived at 1255 with partner and in-laws to get a take out bite only to be told the kitchen was shut so they weren’t ‘toasting anything’ So the majority of foods on offer in the display cabinet were unable to be purchased 🤨 Flies buzzing around the cakes and scrolls display (inside the window) Stale pear and raspberry bread. Much disappointment!

Good feed, decent price, all the things you would expect from a bakery on the menu plus some mean quesadilla. Nice vibe dining in and the staff were polite and courteous.

This is godsent as it is one of the few cafes and bakeries in Fremantle to open early in the morning on a weekend. The chicken and vegetable pie and latte was decent and memorable. Didn't get to try the rest but they sure look tempting!

I love this Cafe the cheesecake here is defiently my favourite, they have such great varieties and are absolutely great with customer service very kind, and I've also heard great things about there coffee and tea.

Asked for a ham and cheese sandwich toasted.
Firstly the bread was stale, secondly the waitress at the till explained at 3.10pm the kitchen was clean so I couldn't get it toasted even though there was 50 minutes until closing time. Very unsatisfactory first experience, will not return.

Asked for a no mushroom lunchtime food suggestions and was sold a fritatta with lots of chopped up mushrooms which i didnt realise until halfway back to kwinana. Girl behind counter was disinterested and I was ill requiring medication to halt an allergic reaction. She also at the time put no serviette or fork in takeaway bag. This could have been very dangerous!!

Disappointed all-round really. I expected more after having been to one of the other Lawleys several years ago, or has the standard slipped in all their cafes? I had a sultana bun and a pot of tea. The tea was good, not teabags, but the bun was quite doughy and caused me digestive upsets for the rest of the day. The cafe itself didn't have that nice fresh, alive feeling. Staff were ok, but it felt like they were just going through the motions.

Walked into this bakery today for a coffee and a cake. Service was ok, coffee was good. Cake was dry. Not a bad place great location, but it was dirty. Cutlery in buckets on the table facing up- finger marks everywhere so unhygienic. Grubby chairs, tables. Walls and windows really dirty. Needs a really good clean.

I don't understand the crappy reviews on this zomato thing so I thought i'd write one.
Best Sausage rolls in town and good bread.
Pull your head in people this place is great.
Opens early too so you can surf leighton, get a sossy, and make it to work easily.

I'm not one for chains and franchises however whilst on the lookout for Christmas croissants I couldn't walk past the sign outside that seemed written for me - 6 mini croissants reduced to $8. I will update the review once I've actually eaten one however based on the freo decor (although I think the light shades might actually be unique even to freo...) and the friendly service, cleanliness and food offerings, I can see no reason for anything less than a 4. Large inside seating area and outdoor seating available too, I'm not convinced I'd ever try the indoor menu bit based on the impending croissant tasting, I may return for more takeaways.

I find a vanilla slice - even the standard rubbery supermarket ones - hard to resist. The slices at Lawley's were not too bad - both cream and custard and a good thick layer of sticky sweet icing.

There seems to be a Lawley's on every street corner nowadays. It's never my first choice for a good cake, but I could think of worse things to do than sitting in a comfy armchair on a sunny Freo afternoon licking cream and custard from my fingers!

Almond croissant is yummy. Actually it is just like those in a French patisserie. I'm a fan. The bread is fab too.

This place was sadly chaotic & dysfunctional on Saturday. It started off well having lots of tables available and a very extensive and well priced menu, but it all went down hill once we got up to order. The staff taking orders were new and still learning, and some couldn't understand English properly (changing the type of toast). They took orders from all over the place with no apparent system in place. Our food came out staggered and not as ordered. 1 egg yolk hard, toast served on a separate plate later by a stressed out kitchen hand it seemed - which just ruined the outing with my parents. They lost part of our order and were apologetic - but by this time part of our table was over it and wanted to cancel and get their money back. On a good note, the pancakes (once arrived) with blueberry and icecream were very delicious. It was also very stuffy inside which escalated the frustration of 'waiting'.. It looks like poor management to me.

The day the original Wild Poppy closed was a very sad day for me; it was my favourite place to have brekkie on the weekend. Now that it has changed to Lawley’s the remnants of the Poppy are still evident in the colourful armchairs, the random pictures and the crochet lamp shades. I still feel at home here!

The front counter and the menu have all changed to remind you that this is something new. Beautiful display cabinets of freshly made lunches, breads, cakes and little sweet things to take home, or to tempt you for a coffee. The brekkie menu is basic, run of the mill, old school or whatever you want to name it. I ordered the bacon and eggs on toast and a long Mac topped up.

I sat down inside, grabbed a paper, and before I finished reading page one, coffee was there. It was hot, and because I started the morning very late, my head was begging me for caffeine. I was praying it would fix my withdrawals, it did that for sure. So strong and very delicious flavours, I was pleasantly surprised. Well done! Before I knew it my brekkie had arrived, was nicely presented with crispy bacon, perfectly poached eggs, and two slices of their freshly made bread. I do love their bread; have never been disappointed. Taste and flavor all spot on; I could not fault it.

So while the Old Poppy looks are there, the menu is different. And I have to say if you are after no messed up brekkie then this is your place. Lovely place to relax in an armchair inside or outside; come enjoy the relaxed Freo.
