Review The Cutting Board - Perth

Sarah Rezaie
Great breakfast options and quick on the go options .. price is very reasonable too.

Housed in the post apocolyptic wasteland that is east Perth this hipster lunch venue is everything you could want from a hotted up version of the lunch bar of old. Although rustic and auspiciously marketed, the price will leave some scratching their heads at the inconsistencies between similar items. The muffins must be laced with gold at the prices they charge and the paninis were dressed to im-press. Overall a nice lunch experience, but unlikely to be an everyday venue.

Great food but good hygiene isn't always practiced. After employee pushed buttons and handled efpos machine she went to mix a salad with her hands in a bowl without changing the gloves she had on, the machine is filthy too. I have noticed this on a number of occasions, handling efpos machine and not changing gloves afterwards. They should always put fresh ones on or take them off before handling.

Tucked away on Pier Street Perth (not the city side) this is a great place for breakfast. There’s a good selection on the menu and most should find something they like. The staff were friendly and helpful and the place was pretty busy with people ordering coffee. We didn’t have to wait long for our Big Breakfast. It was a huge serving. Everything on the plate was cooked well except the tomatoes which needed a bit longer. The little sausages (chorizo flavour) were delicious. Eggs were cooked perfectly. There’s ticket street parking out front.

I've been to this Cafe several times over the past fortnight. The coffee is consistently good, and the large coffee is truly large. The service is speedy and the food is good. The 'Classic burger' is especially tasty, lots of ketchup & mustard. There is currently 2 specials: I, large coffee & toasted sandwich $10.00 2. Large coffee & muffin $7:50. Both great value options, but the muffins tend to be sold out (I tried ordering twice at 10:30am). That's a small gripe. Worth a visit.

Beautiful breakfast (eggs Benedict with bacon) latte and a beautiful freshly made juice. Friendly vibe, great food, beautifully presented salads etc in the display. My second visit here but, won't be my last 😁
Troy Butler
Delicious coffee and food. Great place to catch up with someone.

Bought a sandwich for lunch in Brookfield Place. Lovely friendly helpful service, generous filling and fresh, fresh, fresh. Reasonable price. I'd rate 5 stars but unfortunately the shredded lettuce was sitting in a bowl of iced water so what went into the sandwich made the bread quite soggy. Not too soggy to eat though.

I have been here a few times for lunch as I work locally. The food is always delicious and fresh. Today I had the chicken schnitzel served with two side salads. Huge portion for only $14.50! It’s great! Friendly and prompt service too!

Service is terrible. People in suits will be served before you no matter how long you have been waiting. People who are pushy are served first and its quite common to be standing waiting for service while staff do other jobs. The only reason they are busy in because they are in a convenient location.
Also overpriced but can look past this if service was actually good.

Looks are deceiving.
The cabinet always looks great but every single time i have been here it has been overpriced and disappointing. the sandwiches have filling sticking out the side to make it look like they are stuffed but nothing is actually inside of the bread. I had a schnitzel foccacia thing and the bread was soggy on the bottom and the schnitzel had gone all soft and the batter had turned to mush. Sauce was only on the outside, literally nothing inside. If it wasn't so expensive i would not be bothered, but for these prices you would expect decent food! Don't bother, there are so many other fantastic lunch cafes nearby.

Have come here a few times and have always left disappointed. Purchased a savoury muffin, which was clearly a sweet batter with a bit of spinach thrown in for good measure - not pleasant at all.

Great range of super tasty food at very reasonable prices. Best thing is that the coffee tastes good even with soy milk. It's not the best coffee in Perth, but it's certainly hits the spot.

I used to come here a bit, i hadn't been back for a while so thought I'd try it again. It used to be amazing food, good burgers and the chips were a lot nicer with rosemary or something sprinkled on them. Today i paid $16 for a burger and chips it was super average. Chips were cold and the burger was nothing special for the price paid. Won't be back.
Duck Tales
Can't believe today was the first time I have been here. Coffee was great but the lunch even better. So much to choose from and all so very fresh. Strange feeling I will be visiting this place more often.

Great lunch spot with plenty of healthy salad options and tasty meats. Nice people and large outdoor area with shade. Schnitzel with salad was excellent!

Love this place 😎 Great selection of food in the cabinets and freshly cooked food off the menu. All high quality and decent prices. We shared a plate of pulled pork and pulled beef, with 2 sides of salad. Not sure what the salad as called but it was yummy. Each was $13.50. Wanted something a bit dessert ish after so got a mixed berry smoothie with frozen yogurt. Pretty good too. A lot of seating available, nice design inside and out 👌🏻

I never learn my lesson. Every time i have bought lunch from here it has always been a regret. Over priced and under cooked. Today i purchased "beef pie with mash". I literally had ONE piece of beef in my pie, potatoes and carrots undercooked, the bottom pastry was nowhere near cooked, still doughy and gooey. I felt sooo sick and still hungry. So disappointed and now i will definitely not be coming back ever again. Yuck.

Just over the railway from McIver station across from the Telstra building is The Cutting. It serves breakfast, lunch and drinks (yes of the alcoholic variety)! We are partial to a lunch here. You can pick from the selection of meats (pulled pork, pulled beef, schnitzel, fish... etc) plus a side salad or two for around $13. You usually get a huge serving. There are also cook-to-order food like burgers as well as premade rolls. We love coming here!

Great for lunches that make me think of New York lunch bars. Makes a mean schnitzel with standard salad options. Always super busy so it must be good.
Professor Piehead
Excellent food with slightly crappy service, the pulled pork roll was great but could have used some coleslaw or salad to break up the pulled porkness a little.

A great lunch spot if you have the time and patience to check it out

Food good but rude staff. I order burger and was nice. Girl who gave me food plate was not nice. Please get new staff who is as nice as your food.

Regards,

清颐康

S. Ching

I really like this place. So much to choose from I never know what to get and it is very busy during lunch hours. So would recommend for a nice visit to got before or after lunch rush!

WOW what a selection of mouth watering food.... You defiantly need to get there early to get the best choice. From everything meat to a great salad and veggie selection. The pulled pork burger with slaw was a huge hit.

Really wanted to enjoy this place, but a staff member with a shockingly horrible, rude and despicable manner for zero reasoning means we won't be heading back.

Nice lunch. Lovely lunch and coffee shop

Great selection:). I go here most days for lunch and I havnt a bad thing to say about the place, fresh food , great atmosphere.Always a different selection of mouthwatering dishes everyday and quick service with a smile :) :):)

Not fresh. It was great at the beginning but quality has dropped significantly. Food is usually greasy (even salads are full of oil).
Once I got a israeli couscous and veggie salad and it wasn't fresh, took apart the veggies and ate the couscous as I didn't have time to go back to return it... then I got wraps a few times, they were ok. Today I got a shredded chicken wrap... the chicken was nearly rotten (smelled very funny), went back to the place and returned it. I think I won't buy food from this place never again! Pricey and not fresh!

Dirty plates. I went there for the first time with my work colleagues on the 19/12/14 for lunch and had the vegetable dish .it looked very good but as I was handed the plate the underside of it was greecy and gritty .I looked at the top of the plate and you could Cleary see it hadn't been washed properly . I got my work mates to check there's as well and they were the same . .never again totally revolted

Quick Takeaway lunchy. Expensive dried out paella with some very large pieces of sausage and nothing else - tasteless. Pumpkin and olive penne - no pumpkin and one olive. Not impressed.

I would come again!. I usually don't have lunch out, but have been here three times. Have not been disappointed.
I liked the food, serving size was good and a nice place.
Easy to choose what to eat as it's displayed right infront of you.
I would come here again!

Hidden Gem. I love this place. I read the other comments of people waiting but I go there nearly everyday and never wait more than 5 minutes. During peak times it's very busy but they have so many people working behind the counter that the services is always fast and friendly. The salads are ALWAYS fresh and there is always a variation to keen it new. The meat selection is always delicious and I love missing and matching. I am a big foodie so trust me when I say the food is great. The atmosphere is modern and hip. I'm not a coffee fan but everyone from my office likes the coffee there.
Pushka
Poor Service for Average Food. Best way to explain this place is that the juice just really isn't worth the squeeze. A sandwich and a drink can easily exceed 13 dollars and the service is, most of the times, laughable. Do yourself a favour and walk to the City for lunch

Recently visited The Cutting Board whilst in Perth managing a conference... a quick bite to eat for lunch with my colleague. MOST IMPRESSED! Not only does this funky cafe offer variety in food but atmosphere! This place is perfect for everyone - boozy lunch with colleagues & friends, client meetings, quick & easy take away food or even just for a delicious coffee before work! We ended up coming back with our clients & rest of the team to celebrate a successful conference and I would like to thank the team at The Cutting Board for being so accommodating & for your great service. Bring The Cutting Board to Sydney I say!

Dropping standards. Food OK but service can be woeful at times. Long waits, poor customer service and disorganised. Used to be a lot better.

Standard has dropped. My first visit to CB from Sydney was amazing. Great sized portions in food, quick service and excellent quality. Upon my visit 6 months later, CB has lost its generosity and value for money.

In comparison to 6 months ago - having ordered the exact same thing - schnitzel sizes were significantly smaller (115pm) is not that late a visit for lunch and for there only to be small pieces left - and next to me was a customer who ordered a stew. The package was filled with rice, and the server added the stew cautiously. When the guy asked to have a few more pieces of meat on there, she looked bemused and asked her colleage "This mas has asked for more meat, and I put exactly 6 pieces on, shouldn't that be enough?" Her colleague had sense enough to tell her to add more. It's quite obvious that the instructions from management are to give customers less.
Big mistake.
Shame, really. It had good value once.

PS. The falafel portions are hardly portions. I should have asked for a salad roll.

We live here!. My work colleagues and I are always at The Cutting Board! I decided to try The Beef Burger from the new burger menu yesterday. Wow! The most amazing burger I have ever tasted in my life. I couldn't help myself and decided to get another one today :) I truly recommend The Cutting Board. If you want good coffee, unbelievable food and great service, then this is the place you need to go to and experience. You will not be disappointed. Thanks to all the team at The Cutting Board. You guys are amazing! Cheers Em

The best choice for a busy day!. Forget about Maccas or Hungry Jacks. in a tight schedule day you don't want to spend your precious 30 min lunch break with a "meal" you will regret the rest of your day... TCB surprised me greatly last week with a new burger menu that is not only delicious and quick but has the special "you don't know what" that just made my day!
The only down side is that now you can't find the previous burgers that were amazing as well I wish they could keep both menus.

American food where, the Ruben sandwich, pfft dried out corn beef most likely been out on the bench all day. Turn over of staff is crazy. Coffee has gone down hill in the past few months. Shame Mikey the barista left, knew our coffees and had time 2 chat when he had time. Shame this was a great place, but just lacks that vibe it once had.

Global chef. I think most of the negative reviews on here are from chumps. Too expensive, burning under glazing hot heat lights pffft

You need to get a life and a sense of how hard it is to run a high turnover lunch establishment. Im a chef travelled the globe opened 30 cafes and fed 1000's of people in multiple large casino eateries, olympics, expos, concert halls, F1, atlantis, fed the king and ruler of dubai and abu dhabi and I keep coming back to the cutting board and have never had a bad meal.

Prices are very reasonable, food may sit under a heat light but wake up you get a plate in less than a minute.

I dont know the owner and I dont have any interest but know when someone has a wholesome good food offering. Well done to the

Improve your service!. I went for lunch at the Cutting Board with high expectations, but left disappointed. At a group lunch the key disappointment was the service. While my friends who selected to take advantage of the deli style selections had their food in no time, the rest of us who chose to order off the menu had a long wait ahead of us. Unfortunately when my steak sandwich finally arrived it was patchy at best. When you have steak that thin, why ask how you like it?. Medium rare was medium to well done at best. An open steak sandwich may be trendy; but a thin, overdone piece of steak on a slice of toast doesn't wow in 2014. I'm not sure if the Cutting Board deserves a second chance given the wide range of alternatives in Northbridge - disappointing!

Dissatisfied. After reading varies reviews and blogs on the cutting board I was salivating at the prospect of a juicy pulled pork roll.

I was under the impression it was reasonable pricing, and large servings. I was unpleasantly lead down the garden path.

The pulled pork roll was small by standards in café’s in the surrounding vicinity, the same size as a six-inch sub from subway, the width being narrow. Yes the pork was juicy and tender, with no added flavour what-so-ever, quiet bland, but for the distinct burnt flavour to the meat, but even the gravy couldn’t mask the acrid taste.

All this for the bargain price of $9.50????? . If the quality was there and the taste I would happily pay $9.50, but the standard was not, the menu is overpriced, In the future I will be frequenting the other eateries.

Delicious and Good Value. Awesome variety of food, and all so tasty! Its easy to tell everything is fresh. Not open for dinner, its very much a lunch bar. Have been here a few times now and still love it.
Veggie Rach
Veggie rach. Requested a soy chai latte and was given a normal latte, which is pretty poor given I said the order twice. partner has a diary allergy so glad i sipped the drink first. poor form...staff need to stop filling the cabinet and listen to the customer..this could have ended very badly. wont be back again

The Cutting Board. I found this restaurant quite unique in its own way. The food is fresh and service is exceptionally quick and there is great variety available. Their corporate menu is overpriced by East Perth standards but this may be because their servings are rather large and who picks up nowadays.

Overall I'd rate them a 4/5.

Pulled Pork deliciousness!!. The Cutting Board is located in a new building across from McIver Trainstation. Pulled pork or beef rolls + chips = $13.50 and Pulled pork/beef with a choice of any 2 salads/vegies = $11.50 - both were utterly delicious. The serving size is not as generous as the one in Brooksfield Place but still reasonable. Friends have tried the cheeseburger = $10 which was I was told was also fantastic. They also do breakfast, coffees and beer/ciders.
Queen Of Bad Timing
Situated on Pier Street in Northbridge, the Cutting Board is the second of this new chain with the other sitting in the ever busy St George's Terrace. It's a gorgeous layout, with a bright airy feel, windows lining the walls, wooden space combined with metal giving it that industrial warehouse type feel.

I’ve enjoyed my recent visits to The Cutting Board Eathouse where there’s plenty of different items on the menu to appeal to a broad range of tastes. They’re excellent value, the setting is lovely, and it’s refreshing to enjoy friendly service too. It’s an ideal lunch time spot that isn’t heavy on the wallet.

From this humble sandwich, we all agreed that things are better when made fresh from the kitchen, not things cooked prior and left out to dry.
