Review Gogo's - Perth

Alberto Tassone
Definitely the best Indian Restaurant in Perth. We had a four course meal and each course was a reason to write! The chef has a modern approach to Indian Food and is not scared to try new things. A professional chef in a cosy environment at par with some of the top restaurants in Perth. This is not your Indian Curry Cheapo! You need to understand food to appreciate this!

Someone here rightly said this restaurant is a museum of cricketers. Food is less than ordinary Tamil taste and quantity is very small compared to the price they charge, very poor service. There was a handful table of customers in the whole restaurant on Friday and they took more than half hour to serve the Entrée and more than an hour to serve the main course. This restaurant is overrated and don’t deserve it! Papadum served to us was smelling burned oil taste. Naan bread was tasteless and very thin like chapatti. Kabab was dried and tasted like sausage!

I remember this place as being great ten years ago, but the last couple of times it's been really sub standard. Dishes all the same, just meat in gravy, no texture, little distinction in flavour. There are plenty better indian restaurants out there.

A Museum of Cricket! Great place to dine - very hygienic. It is expected from top restaurant that it serves bottled water (it is a normal water bottle ($5) not the French or Italian water that could cost you huge).

Great food & service ! Most interesting cricket memorabilia. A must for lovers of first class Indian cuisine and/or cricket tragics !!!

Amazing experience every time, best service and the absolute best Indian food in Perth. Never have to wait long and am always super satisfied!

It is a culinary tragedy of epic proportions just how badly downhill the quality of the food at Gogo's has become :( Their curries were mouth-watering...butter chicken to die for. We treated ourselves to a take-away during the week and were bitterly disappointed. Both curries were dull and bland, the meat in each was tough, and even the naan was a let-down. Such a shame.

Delicious food and very friendly staff. Good value for money. BYO wine is a bonus

Gogo's is my go to curry place in the mount lawley/ highgate area and the best around here as well. All the staff are friendly and service is quick also. The food is really well priced for the location and is suitable for couples and larger groups. I mean if it's good enough for Tendulkar then it's good enough for me

Average food. Slowish food service. Polite wait staff.

Sadly going downhill fast. Gogo's has been going downhill over the last six months or so. It used to be my favourite Indian restaurant by far... now I will not be going again. The service is just too slow and the serving staff, although still polite and willing, have become merely apologists for the kitchen. The food is still ok but the taste of all the dishes seems to have melded.... chicken, goat, beef all seem to taste the same. So sad.

Wish it was better. We were on our way home on Saturday night and passing through Beaufort Street and had a craving for some butter chicken after a light meal we had already had earlier in the night.
We knew exactly what we wanted and just wanted to share a quick meal... We sat at our tanle for about 15 minutes before being served and the restaurant was not that busy.
When we (2 of us) ordered our butter chicken, rice and plain naan the waitress treated us like we were being cheap because we didnt order anything else.
The food was plain and have had better Indian in Perth although it did fix our craving for the night so our stomachs were satisfied.
When paying for the bill the waitress was rude and again made us feel like it was pointless that we came in to spend $28. Isn't it better than nothing?
I really wish our experience was much more positive as I would have wanted to come back for a proper full meal but the service was unimpressive and has put me off.

Best food on Beaufort. I've been to Gogos so many times over the past ten years and I really can't recommend it enough. The set menu is fantastic and such a great way to share lots of different meals. There is no better meal in this world than Gogo's Lamb Saag!! The staff are lovely and Gogo is a gentleman - will always keep coming back here. You cannot be disappointed at Gogos!!

Lovely. We managed to get a table and have to say don't understand what people are moaning about. We had the Chicken Tikka Masala ( spicey), Beef Chetinaad and the Vindaloo. All of them were so delicious and tasty! The Naan and Garlic Naan are to die for. We plan to head back this weekend with our kids as we have found our favourite Indian restaurant in Perth.

Pathetic portions and over priced. I ordered the gogo's tasting plate thinking we could share the plate between 2. When the plate came out there was 1piece of chicken, 1 prawn, 1 springroll, 1 samosa and 1 beefball and that cost us $14.50. We also ordered the lamb curry. So disappointed food was tasteless and bland!! Worst INDIAN FOOD EVER! NEVER COMING BACK IT WAS A TOTAL RIP OFF!!

-----11 Oct, 2014-----

PATHETIC PORTIONS AND OVER PRICED. The food is small in portions i ordered Gogo's tasting plate expecting it to be a dharing plate. The food came out and there was literally 1 small piece of chicken, 1 springroll, 1 samosa and 1 prawn. All that for $14.50 Not impressed. WAY TOO OVER PRICED

Curry and cricket. I wonder if some of the negative reviews I've just read here are coming from some kind of personal vendetta. We went to Gogo's recently with a group of Indian friends, and found the food varied and delicious, beautifully cooked with interesting layers of flavour and spice - not overpowered by chilli but definitely not underwhelmed either. In fact, more like food you get in India than the over-salted, over-spiced chain meals I think some of these people must favour. The cricket memorabilia adds to the occasion, as does the attentive but unobtrusive service. The charming and unassuming Mr Gogo was happy to have a chat with us afterwards about his experiences with Australian and Indian cricketers, who request his cooking when they come to Perth.

Watery tasteless Indian food!!! I live on Beaufort street- tried Gogos once years ago and hated it but decided to give it one more chance. YUK!!!!! Serialist can get better indian curry from a soup can. Not Indian food(I am indian) and not crn close. Also staff were very abrupt when picking up order. YUK YUK YUK!!!!!

Had dinner here a few nights ago. This is by far the worst Indian food I've ever tasted in my life. The dishes are disgusting and overpriced. Don't bother and just go to 2 Fat Indians instead. Friendly service but I don't tip for a grand total $88 dollars for two dishes and pashmiri naan with jelly in it. Disgraceful!

And the award for worst indian food goes to...!. This place is not only the waste of your money, but it is also waste of your precious time and mood. I went with few friends to this place for dinner on Friday night and all I got for mains was a spiced dessert (this was one of the main dish veg curries - it was so sweet that i actually thought they confused my order with someone else's dessert, and i ordered this dish medium, after confirming that this dish isnt sweet with the waitress) and a bland chicken dish (we ordered Hot, but all we could taste was salt and curry leaves in the dish). When I told the manager (or maybe the owner), he started justifying of how their chilies were not hot enough and the nuts in the other dish made the dish sweet. Now, what i dont get is - when i asked for a hot dish and a non sweet dish - what part of my sentence did they not understand? On the other hand, this waitress came in and said that she found the food very spicy - she said she tried the food in the kitchen - trying to prove as if we are incapable to taste the flavours of the food in the first place. Anyway we ended up not eating the food at all and paying the full bill amount. No courtesy what so ever to apologise. I asked for an itemised bill after the payment and they gave me the paper on which the order was taken on the table. So much for a good friday dinner!

Nightmare for indian food lovers-arrogant and ignorant management. If you like genuine indian dishes, this is not the one. We ordered 2 dishes- madras chicken (hot) and veg kofta and both were as bland as a canned soup. No one came in to get our thoughts on food during 15 mins after service so I got up to counter to give my feedback
The main guy with a MO (manager or owner) came in to know our views and after giving our feedback. He started arguing with us and the waitress joined in with the argument. This was all but adding to our disappointment and embarrassment. finally the manager decided to replace our dishes. After no service for 20 minutes we decided to walk away.
The manager showed no courtesy and very greedily charged us for the meal ($100+), which I paid without questioning. Disappointing service and no standard for quality or pride.

Good night and food. Had been at Go Gos about two years ago and food was great and lot of punters there. We went with another couple on Friday just gone and there was hardly anyone there. The food was really great and service quite OK but it is a bit expensive - $185 for 4 of us without wine.

Birthday Disappointment. I took my husband to Gogos on Thursday night for a special birthday dinner with friends. Service was slow, taking over 15min to order our drinks and then another 20min to take our food order. Having arrived at 7pm, we didnt get our mains until 8.30pm. Food was average and for the price you would expect more. Very disappointed. Next time we will be sticking to our local tried and true!!!
Food 2 Run
Was a fan last time I came and came back after sister who's big on Indian wanted to eat at gogo's. Wow can't justify the price for serves really $$$ and good good but not super...will stick to my local...

Convenient and meet expectations. We have dined here several times, usually as a main only just before a show. It is not in my top 3 indian restaurants in Perth but it is acceptable food, if at a somewhat high price, delivered in a friendly manner.
Food For Thought..
Cricket Museum or Restaurant ?. After hearing how great this place is, I couldn't wait to try it. After all, the Indian cricket team eat here when visiting Perth, so it must be good right ? Not so. We found the food pretty substandard compared to other Indian restaurants we have tried. Small serving sizes that leave you feeling hungry, rude and unfriendly staff that couldn't care less, and dull tasteless food. This review might seem harsh, but for the prices they are charging, I expected a lot more. If they put enough love into their food as they do with their cricket memorabilia, this could be a great place.
Joyce Leong
Very overpriced for average quality and portions - but think of it as a ticket entry to the museum of endless cricket paraphernalia. Eat in during cricket season, and you'll sight cricket celebrities (I'm referring to cricket board bigwigs, not Warnie), or take your picture beside Sachin's framed gear. Otherwise 2 fat Indians down the street is way better.
Sean
Go for the cricket rather than the food. This is the joint that Sachin Tendulkar apparently frequents when he’s in town so he can have Gogos’ famous lamb chops. Likewise every other international cricketer going. This connection with cricket is Gogo’s gimmick. Every piece of wall space is taken up with cricket memorabilia: endless numbers of signed white plates; bats; balls; uniforms; photos of cricketers; photos of cricketers enjoying Gogo’s curry; photos of cricketers drinking beer with the chef; all framed and behind glass. At my table I was positioned just underneath Sachin’s one day uniform, with a pair of his (grotty and unwashed) socks part of the diorama just behind me. From the opposite wall Gilly grinned inanely at me from behind a set of stumps next to an article that explained Why He Had To Quit. Across the way was a shirt signed by Punter, nearby one of the Don’s bats. Cricket it seems is inescapable in the place, and cricketers it seems love it. But the question is, do international cricketers know anything about quality Indian food? I mean Shane Warne took a case of beans with him to India didn’t he, and his moniker is on more than one of the bats and shirts encased in glass on the walls. So does Warnie know a good curry when he sees one?

Well four of us had an evening at Gogos to find out. We sampled a good spread of the menu and based on what we had, the evidence would suggest that maybe he does, but maybe he also doesn’t. Because there was good and bad. For entrée we shared Tandoori and Vegetarian tasting plates, and Cheese Kurkuries (deep fried spring rolls filled with cheese). For main we had the fabled lamb chops, fish cooked in banana leaves, vegetable kofta, dahl, paratha and roti, paneer with spinach, raita and pickles (and rice of course). The first thing I always go for at an Indian restaurant is the dahl – if they can’t do this they will struggle with the rest. And it wasn’t great, pureed, gluggy, lacking either flavour or consistency. The chops were a bit chewy and didn’t have the flavour wallop I expected. The kofta was bland, I’ve had better paratha and roti, and the spinach paneer was pretty boring. All of the above was over-salted. The fish however was fabulous, as was everything that came out of the tandoor oven and two of the three pickles got the thumbs up. But it wasn’t enough. Serves were small and expensive for what you got - $20 for four vegetarian koftas in curry sauce is bloody steep. Service was adequate by Indian restaurant standards.

But it was nothing special and with the exception of the stuff that came out of the tandoor, there was nothing I couldn’t have made at home to the same standard for cheaper. It was basic, middle of the road curry. He might cater for the Australian cricket team when they’re in town, but it’s not enough to convince me to go back. If you’re a cricket fan it’s worth a visit for the memorabilia, but as a restaurant it doesn’t live up to the standard I would expect based on the prices they are charging.

Great indian. Fantasic food, attentive and friendly staff. I thought the wine list was good, with plenty of options across the scale of price, althoufh we only really looked at reds... we shared chicken malai kabab tandoori to start which was amazing, just a hint of spice and the freshness of the lime balnced it beautifully. I would highly recommend it. I had the goat rogan josh and it was also very flavorsome with plenty of meat. it was a tuesday night when we ate and the restaurant was quiet so my only suggestion to the owner would be to add some music to break up the sounds of people carrying on, the street and add some atmosphere. aside from that a great meal and ill be back
Alan Godecke
Famous lamb chops were cold and covered in gluggy gravy. Very poor offerings from a once great place!
Elyce_arch
Miss. Chicken korma and butter chicken was very spicy and tasted different to any other I have had. Definitely would not recommend.
Paula Fane
Fantastic service owner very pleasant and getting stuck in with clearing tables.
We started with the tandoori platter which was all delicious,my partner had the chicken tikka which he said was probably one of the best he's had, my goat was melt in the mouth tender, the naan was amazing the best I've ever had. The biryani rice was a perfect match.
This place definitely not over priced for the quality food will be back and will bring friends

GREAT FOOD, GREAT SERVICE, REASONABLE PRICES.. We went as a small group on a recent Saturday Night. From the very start the attentive service began, including the "boss" being involved. Typically, we would have had individual dishes & shared. However, the "boss" suggested he could make up a small banquet to suit our desires. Wowee!!! good stuff. The dishes were spicy(but not too hot), just what we needed. A great night out, will be back. Oh, and the "Little Master" knows what he is talking about!!!
Hannah Rogers
Fantastic food the best Indian I have had in a long time, the chilli calamari was nice. Was a bit shocked by the $10 corkage fee but I'll be back again.
Paulie Panda
Certainly not the best Indian in Perth but nice enough. Decor was a bit rickety but staff were pleasant and attentive. Good wine list. Food was the usual Indian fodder but pleasant tasting. Only problem was there wasn't enough of it. Ordered 4 dishes plus rice & naan for 5 people, but we all went a bit hungry. Inexpensive though. Would go back but just order more!
Mick
Redemption!. Gave these guys a bad review yesterday about take out. They called today with a free meal. The owner seems to aim to please but the staff last night didn't seem to care. Thanks anyhow Mr Madras even if your handshake was one of the most passive aggressive I've ever had. Lol. Must have read my review. Thanks urban spoon!
Mick
Over priced and super small portions. Given these guys way more than one chance. 17.50 for takeaway butter chicken with five small pieces of chicken. Crappest crap ever.
Andrew Rowell
Best in Perth. After a cold, wet rugby match on Saturday night, a mate and I went to GoGo's to warm ourselves up.

The food and service were both excellent. The lamb chops were so tender as was the goat curry.

Highly recommended!
Cheryl Fletcher
Good on you Gogo Govardhan, you are doing a terrific job, I am sure W.A. Cricketers won't let you down, well done.
Kimberly
Nice place. Great food but they dont like you sharing th banquet if you buy it. Not even a little bit on naan. But overall 10/10

Nono's. No. No.

Terrible food. Badly served. Excessively priced.

Any questions?

Pretty Good, But...... Although I voted "I Like It", there are a few fundamental issues I found with this restaurant. The Entree's can be a little expensive for what you get, although the ones we ordered were tasty (had the Vegetarian Tasting Plate & Vege Samosa's). Also, there was very little sauces on the entree plates, making the food a little dry once we ran out.
For mains, the Vege Kofta tasted quite salty....more so than it should have been, leaving us feeling a little off afterwards. The naan was thin and had no substance to it.
Apart from that, the rest was yummy and fresh and the service was quite friendly. Plenty of space inside also if you have a large group to fit in. Overall, if you had to go there - you probably won't be disappointed, and its pretty casual/laid back (read - you don't need to be wearing a $1500 outfit and $3000 watch to fit in, like some of the restaurants along the strip!). Word.
Yvonne
Very disappointing, food was reheated and not fresh,as you slice your meat the inside was cold and blend. From the entrée,stale papadums, worse tasting plate, tasted off, cold chicken from freezer, poor presentation with dead brown salad, Mains we're even worse with dry tasteless Chops, apparently Chefs special and the Goat Rogan Gosh tasted like canned soup with some reheated frozen chicken in it!FEEL RIPPED OFF,SO DISAPPOINTING.We used to be regulars couple of years ago and their standard has really dropped, from service to food:(
Ge'inmabelle
Don't bother ordering the tasting plate, what an utterly outrageous rip off. $14 for 1 prawn, 1 samosa, 20 grams of chicken and 2 tiny nuggets of meat. $10 corkage per bottle. Meals were ok but needless to say, we're not rushing back...
Kathy Reid
Best Indian restaurant in perth? No, but better than most. Food delicious, service was great, bill as expected. Ignore the bad reviews, there are few restaurants in perth that have mastered the art of consistency, but these guys are trying hard!
Chris
WAY WAY OVERPRICED AND OVER- RATED. $17.50 for a morsel of home brand coles chiken (whole $7.00). Are they having a lend? Going thirds I got sauce and rice...A Joke. Australians have been ripped off for years by Indian 'quality over quantity"rubbish and Gogos is the worst offender. I can knock up an excellent butter/tikka/madras vindalloo lamb/beef/chicken sauce for sqaut in 10 minutes. Time to avoid these joints that fill you up with bread and rice. Rubbish. Never going back. Gurkhas down the road is one hundred times as good and half the price
Prestons Disciple
Visited this place 2 yrs back. Were impressed by the cricket pics of Gogo & cricketers.
Service was worst... Found the waiter/owner very rude. Food was terrible. I don't know why on earth Indian cricketers eat here! Definitely better Indian restaurants in Perth. Will not go back!
Amelie
Superb meal!. Really enjoyed our meal on the weekend at Gogo's. It is definitely the best indian restaurant in town..food was delicious..service was terrific..thank you to the chefs and staff for a wonderful time at Gogo's.
Klmyay
Veggie Kofta dumplings were divine!
Mick
By far the best Indian cuisine in Perth. Not cheap, but well worth it. Great to have the man Gogo there to give you advice on what to order. Been several times and never disappointed. Friend attentive staff and very helpful & accommodating with families with kids/prams etc.
Pris
Mixed feelings.... I heard rave reviews about the melt in your mouth lamb cutlets. I came here a long time ago to have pure vegetarian food and it was good but pricey.

It's true they just give you a bottle of water and papadums you said you dont want and then it comes out in the bill. Happened to us but we shrugged it off.

Food (butter chicken was so tomato-eh, palak paneer was bright green so not overcooked but very bland) ranged from good-average but not the best we've had, including the lamb I found was a little dry though soft. Service was good and food came out on time. Pricey.
Sam
Extremely over priced and bad service. From beginning to end it was bad. We were asked if we wanted papadums, we said no, they brought them to us anyway and said they were complimentary and then charged us for them at the end of the night. Bottled water was placed on the table on sitting down, poured in our glasses without asking us, only to be charged for this also. The lady working the front desk was extremely rude as was, I can only assume, the owner. He was aggressive when we questioned the bill. The portions were extremely small and took a very long time to come out. The food was very average.
Rosie Marks
My husband and I had been wanting to visit gogos for some time, and finally visited last night. What an utter disappointment! For the price you pay the servings are extremely small, they automatically bring you papadams and you only find out you have been charged for them when the bill comes, same with the bottled water that's automatically placed on your table before you are seated (also charged - never asked if we wanted tap or bottled). Food took some time to get to the table also. All in all, wouldn't recommend going to gogos as there are many other much better Indian restaurants in Perth.
ANGRY COFFEE MAN
I don't get it.. Horrifically slow service on a night when it isn't even busy, and the curry is extremely average?
Caffeind
Yum!. Great flavours, good service, nice wine list and the chili calamari (entree) is to die for.
Shreyas Sreenivasan
Service dropping with every visit. No complaints about the food - every time we have been here with family, friends, work mates numerous times over the last few years.
Off late looks the service is dropping with every visit. Unfortunately the good food was overtaken by Rude service & arrogant attitude by the order taking ladies who clearly seem to missed the whole point of good customer service. Please do not offer the Banquet if you cannot deliver the order in time & change this attitude of yours else its good bye Gogo's!!!
Eclectic Diner
I don't like the way they sneak the water onto your bill by automatically serving bottled. We asked for tap instead which was fine but still got charged on the bill which they had to amend. Very overpriced and the atmosphere was like a dining hall. Tables were all shoved into a room where I could hardly hear my partner speak. The food was very good, I highly reccomend the lamb cutlets, however given the overall experience there are nicer Indian resteraunts with equally tasty food in Perth.
SunnySideUp
Overpriced rubbish. The WORST Indian restaurant I've been to in Perth. Overpriced, portions were tiny and my curry tasted like it came from a jar! Never going there again!!!
Aims84
Great food, service and atmosphere!. My partner suggested Gogo's after hearing several recommendations & I decided to book for a catch up dinner with our friends on a Saturday night despite the dis-heartening reviews on urban spoon.
As soon as we arrived we were shown to our table & asked if we'd like drinks, as we were still deciding the waitress left but returned promptly a few mins later, service throughout the evening was very attentive with waitresses topping up our wine & recommending dishes etc, food was excellent & servings were ample, went with the banquets as there was 6 of us. Honestly not a bad word to say about the place, I liked the way there are seperate rooms, made it feel quite cosy & a bit more private. Would recommend to anyone for a great evening :)
Dave
Portions are small and the butter chicken has this weird smoky taste to it, not my cup of tea. But not the worst.6/10
Fun Size
Food: moderate, nothing special
Service: adequate, but hard to tell as it was a very slow Monday night
Price: disproportionately high to the serving sizes and quality. Only place I've seen that charge for papadums and naan bread was expensive and not that great
Will I go back? No
Hippokathy88
There are much better Indian places out there. My friend and I came here for dinner last night and she convinced me that it was a good Indian place. I didn't like the fact that they didn't offer tap water and just handed you a bottle of water straight away. Also this was the first Indian place that I've been to that actually charges for papadums. I've been to countless Indian restaurants and papadums have always been complimentary. The butter chicken I ordered had a good flavour but wasn't the best. My friend seemed to enjoy the vegie korma that she ordered. The food was way over-priced and even though the service was fast, it wasn't worth the price. I'd rather go to 2 Fat Indians tbh and they're already not even that great.
Vinz
Satisfactory. Decided to pay a visit due to the palpable hype it had received, particularly due to it's guests of note(Sachin Tendulkar). Tried the lamb chops and was relatively disappointed, although the lamb was of very good taste, the yellowy coating was far too decadent and ostentatious for my liking. Apart from that, everything was delightful, curries and breads were of good texture. Definitely warrants at least one meal! 6/10
Babegirl
WORSE SERVICE & CHEATED & RIPPED OFF. Doing take away is fine, but if you go for dine in, you will be CHEATED & RIPPED OFF!!!
FIRST , it's WRONG to give you bottle water without telling you that world be charged for $ 3.50 and if you didn't look at your receipt they would simply charge for the water even you did not even touch it!! SECOND, the amount of the food is totally not equal the price you paid, we order fish dish, probably only 3 small piece of fillet on the small curry bowl, same as the other chic curry, probably only 2-3 pieces more than fish dish!!! THIRD, the staff are all erogant even manager, too! The waitress has no interested at all to tell you what is gd about the dish and very unattensive !!! There are plenty of gd Indian restaurant ard, this is the WORSE I've been to!! NEVER AGAIN, GOGO...AWAY!!!!!
Sin
Local takeaway? Never again. At $27 for a chicken korma and rice with a roti that came in a small round take away container, I won't be returning. Chicken was chewie, flavours bland. Can definitely do better..
Nikki Rajakaruna
Very tasty but a bit cheeky..... I have been waiting to visit Gogo's for some time after hearing good things from many people. We went last night. The sevice was very good (it was early in the evening), loved the food- except the black daal (v. bland).- the lamb chetinaad was amazing (!!) as was our entree- chicken in banana leaf- spicy, smokey, delicious!

What I didn't like so much was the fact that you are provided with a bottle of water as soon as you sit down. I assumed that this was at no charge given that it has not been requested but this is not the case. And now this might seem a bit picky but they also charge for paddadums and condiments. Most Indian restaurants that I have visited provide this as a nice added extra, a welcome to the restaurant as you settle down to look through the menu. I think $3.50 for a serve for 5 pappadums and $5 for the condiments is a bit steep, especially when you are paying over $20 for a main curry... Stupidly, we asked for another serve of paddadums as our entree was taking quite a while to come out and got slapped with another $3.50... I know it's only a small thing but it's the small/simple things that make all the difference.
Currymuncher
Crap Service. Horrible service , uninterested , forgetful , food was ok servings small, especially fish dishes lucky to get three mouthfuls OF FISH per dish ! NO JOKE !!! Commented to waitresses about service and serving size and they just laughed , NEVER AGAIN GOGO !!!!!
Bexdaglan
I have been here a couple of times when we have not booked somewhere else as you can normally get a table without booking. The staff never seem very happy to be there our waitress on saturday looked really miserable but she was helpful and asked the chef if could make one of the dishes vegan for me. The portions are small which is unusual for an indian!! The food is average, no where near the same standard as some of the other Indians but ok if your looking for a casual quick bite to eat. I wouldn`t book here for a special occassion or romantic dinner as its very hectic and crowded.
Pandahunter
Incredible flavours and texture. Heard a lot about this place from practically everyone, so ate there last night.

To me, indian food should never be so goddam expensive in general. It's incredible how stupid most people are to think curry is an expensive commodity - like steel and lead.

No...idiots.

So looking at the menu and these prices were very reasonable, and I must say I would have happily paid double for the quality alone.
Rob Pintabona
Had the banquet, wow great option. Got to try the eggplant and the chicken tikka
Graeme Stuart Lilley
That was without a doubt the best Beef Vinaloo I have ever had, awesome service and sensational food and the wine list is very reasonable too, 10 out of 10!!!
David Lillico
Excellent. Great food, good service, helpfull staff, and cricket memorabilia everywhere. We will be back.(you have to try the lamb chops!)

Dont GO but if you are the following tips. Dont go to this resturant. I have been a number of times, as a result of going with the group decision, each time i have been disapointed. Last night was a fantastic night thanks to good quality friends, had this been a more formal affair, such as a birthday, business dinner etc. the night would have been a disaster.

We booked for 8pm for 10 people, with no appology we were left in a que with other people that had booked. Finally seated at 8:45pm, eight table settings- no problems make ten people sit in the space for eight. There was no offer of drinks or food during the wait period, no friendly face to advise us of when we would be seated. Once seated waited until 9:15pm to be served, which only occured because we hailed a waiter.

Food - The serves are small ( we went with the banquet, however i do eat a lot). I found the food to be of servicable quality, it meet but did not exceed my expectations, similar quality indian food can be found elsewhere cheeper.

Alright so if you have read all the bad reviews and are still going to this resturant here are my tips.

1. Book and make it clear the type of table you require (e.g inside not in walkway near a window)
2. when booking make it clear you expect to be seated immediatly
3. ask them to take the bottled water back when they give it to you without asking and open it for you - read below
4. Make it clear when ordering the banquet that you are a large eater and is there any capcity for extra plates without cost should you still be hungry. (they provided extra curry and rice for us, still hungry)
5. Acept $10 corkage on each bottle of wine (this is a complete ripoff but if you go here this is what they charge)
6. only go in a large group - this place is loud and crowded.

On a final few notes. Love the cricket stuff but the rest of the furniture is worse than that found in a food hall. Our table of four joined singular tables were all at different heights, for the price I expect linen well set out plates etc - this place is food hall poorly set out table not clothes no glamour just WA Salvage quality tables. As for the water, I directly observed a waitress pouring bottled water left over from other customers into one bottled water putting the lid back on and putting on the shelf in the kitchen. To be fair I dont know the purpose of this behaviour but i do find it concerning.

In short great friends make a good evening but go go's doesn't not.

Excellent Service & Food. I haven't been to this restaurant in many years and was surprised to drop in unexpectedly with an overseas friend on a public holiday when everything else was closed.

The restaurant was amazingly clean and fresh, the staff were incredibly professional and groomed and the food was superb!

Yes, it's a little on the pricey side for Indian food; but I was so impressed, I just had to add a little review to say how good this restaurant really is. Great ambience as well.

Best Indian Restaurant in town!. We were a group of 8 friends booked in for a friday night. We had the banquet and i must say it was the best thing we did. The range of appetisers and mains served were absolutely amazing. It included nan breads, rice, sides and accompaniments. Highly Recommended!!!

Plasantly surprised. After reading all the bad reviews this place had, I was a little reluctant to go, but I was convinced by a persuasive friend and I was glad I went. The food was delicious and we didn't have to wait all that long for it. The service while not the best around was efficient and friendly enough. It is a little pricey for Indian food but I thought it was well worth it and would recommend it to anyone. However, we were there on a Thur so it wasn't all that busy, I can imagine how some tables might be neglected on a busy weekend coz the table we were sitting in for example was completely out of the way, and would have been hard to attract their attention if they didn't come around so often.

Worst food EVER!. We went to this place on Saturday 18/2/12
Worst food ever, small portions, plain, tasteless food and the service wow!
The prices the restaurant charge are ridiculous, if they think $25 dollars is an acceptable amount to charge for a Fish curry in a plate no bigger than my hand with 2 bits of fish they have rocks in their head (oh and you have to buy the rice in addition!!)
The waiters were rude, un-attentive and we were afraid to ask for a bottle of water in case it was too much trouble! (This was after they put a large bottle of Evian water on our table and charged us for it!)
We did however and then subsequently needed to ask another 5 times because it never arrived.
At the end we were hit with a $300 bill for 5 people, when we questioned them about the 3rd bowl of rice ,they argued with us and the waiter insisted she put on our table (which they did NOT!) coincidentally they cleared our table before we even walked 1 meter to get to the register.
We couldn't get out of there fast enough.
I can't say anything good about this place. Word of advice, don't get caught up with the fact "famous" Indian cricket players dine there... this place is not an enjoyable restaurant to eat at and the food is nothing more than a can of Pataks warmed up and slapped in the smallest plate available. This is 2 hours of my life and $300 dollars I will never get back .... Don't waste your time... go to Nandos which is just across the road from this place, you will get better food and service!
Go Go's in a definite NO GO!

Good indian food... Great cricket memorabilia.. Food - quite good...had the banquet with an almost ndless supply of dishes. The lamb chops were fantastic!!!!
Service- good.. Thanks to previous revie on urbanspoon I was aware of the mineral water that gets plonked on the table without asking if you'd prefer to pay for mineral water or prefer free tap water.
Atmosphere- great if you are a cricket lover... Gogo's restaurant should be in the tourist guides as a place for all tourist's with a love of the game to enjoy a piece of cricket history over a good curry.
Overall I'd give the place a 7.5 out of 10... Just be weary of parking on a Saturday night... It took us 20 minutes to find a parking at least 700mts away!

Not good. We got vegetarian food tonight, it was way overpriced and really bad quality.
I love Indian food, I cook it at home but this place is really bad.
I can't believe they can charge the money for what they give you, people in Perth need to wake up to being ripped off.
Try two fat Indians or Bollywood, they are a little bettter.

After a group of 5 of us sat down in our reserved table, one of our guests couldn't make it so they wanted to move us to a small table at the front as they said they could fit more people on our table. Even after us telling them we would prefer to stay they, try still insisted. After we all got up, they then said we could stay. Really annoying! We placed our order and then they advised it would be more economical to have the banquet, which after we worked it out, would have cost us $20pp more! The wine we chose wasnt available, however we werent told of this until 30 minutes after ordering. We then waited 50 minutes for our very small meal portions, which didn't have a very authentic taste.

No Go's. Under direction from a couple that perceive themselves as "Curry Buff's" I have sampled Gogos wares a number of times over the past few months. Sadly he has fallen short on all expeditions. Flavors are fresh however the size of portions lacking. Whilst I would not normally use this as a factor in a rating a restaurant, one doesn't like feeling ripped off after having eaten (or at any point for that matter) Getting 4 pieces of fatty beef in a vindaloo hardly warrants the $18 price tag!

Worst restaurant ever. Service was awful. the owner of the restaurant have so much attitude. He don't know how to treat a customer. food was expensive and wasn't good at all. Not much vegetarian restaurant. Restaurant standard is low.

Excellent food and service, ordered the banquet ($45) and it was great value. Two lots of mixed starters, chose your mains and they will top them up as much as you like. Quantities were good but we just had to go a second round of the famous lamb chops. Highly recommended.

Never Again!. This was the worst indian food I have ever eaten. I never write reviews but was so disappointed by the food that I had to write one. We had takeaway, the meal sizes were tiny & not cheap. The way they served the naan bread was pretty slack - half wrapped in brown paper, dry & very cold.

Very disappointing!
Nikki
Gogo no-go! This was probably the stingiest Indian restaurant I have ever been to. Went with my partner and dad, ordered butter chicken, fish curry and lamb, very small serves, the fish curry had 3 small pieces only and the rest was sauce. Service was slow and the naan bread was very thin. It felt like they were abusing their famous reputation given to them by the cricket teams by being stingy and tight with servings and quality of their food. We definitely wont be back, and won't trust sportsmen with their restaurant recommendations!

No go gogo. Took my 13 year old for her birthday along with the family.total of 12 people. We were shoved on small tables and given bottled water which my mother in law opened, we had asked for tap water. Service was terrible, Gave us our menus and returned about 2 minutes later to see if we were ready to order. Came back 5 minutes later to take our order standing over us while we tried to discuss our various foods. would I go back...no way. lots of better indian food around too. not cheap and not nice

Sen-sational! This place was the best curry I have ever tasted. Sure beats the pants off that bollywood spice we tried two days earlier. are still sweating out the curry from that shanty
Yyhp
Worse than curry from the bottle! I rather have pataks! Was tasteless and watered down. Had the Chicken Korma which was tough chewy overcooked. The Goan Fish curry tasted like a tomato fish dish. Worst indian food ive ever eaten and ive had a lot of indian food in my lifetime! Super slow service too. Took over 30 mins for our dishes to arrive. Will never go back there again! Go to Bollywood in Innaloo and Two Fat Indians instead!
Lavin Nandwani
Absolutely pathetic customer service. Ordered rogan gosh, lamb was tough and chewy. She offered a replacement and at the time of the bill, I got charged for both. Apart from that even the other meals were sub standard. "DO NOT GO". OVERPRICED AND TASTELESS.

All That Is Wrong With Indian Food In Perth. We visited GoGo's for the first and only time two years ago, and from the most recent of reviews , nothing has changed. This restaurant is an extreme example of all that is wrong with Indian dining in Perth, and it's continued patronage speaks volumes about the poor standards that we are willing to accept. We brought a group of 12 and you guessed it, GoGo's staff were dead keen for us to take up the suggested banquet. Only problem was that the banquet seemed to be very high in breads and other fillers, and very low in actual dishes. When we decided that 7 small dishes between 12 people was not such a great deal, ordering a dish each seemed a much better option. Unfortunately, GoGo himself decided to take our order and make it very clear that this was a very difficult order to handle. His annoyance was clearly visible at our temerity in ordering what we actually wanted. But after all of that, the food came out quickly and even with the ridiculous byo surcharge, it worked out cheaper than the banquet which contained almost half the number of mains. The food itself; average and minuscule in portions. If you want great tasting, great value Indian food, try the brilliant Bengal Curry House in Freo.

Overpriced... Extremely average.

Lovely. Order lamb, prwan, chicken and naan.
All the dishes tasted really good.
It tasted like authentic south indian dished.
Would recommend.

Been a regular for some time now. Good Butter Chicken and I like how Gogo's adds to the Mt Lawley scene

Not as good as before. I went there for a dinner with friends a couple of weeks ago. Something has changed in the kitchen. While the food was good, it isn't great like before. The eggplant curry and the paneer makanwala were the highlights of the night. The usually excellent lamb chops were undercooked, the tikka chicken was a bit bland.
I found the service to be fine, waiters were helpful in giving suggestions and attentive during the night making sure we had enough drinks. Our food came out pretty quickly, despite it being a busy friday night.
I'm not complaining it was bad, but its lost its claim to be the best Indian in Perth
Mr Franklin
No go Gogo. Worse indian ever.....
stale foods.. took a long time, overly casual service and it wasn't the best food i've had. ( compares to take away shops)
and definitely overpriced for what you get.

Banquet for big eaters only. I was a little apprehensive after reading the last few reviews but went for the banquet anyway because the kids had been looking forward to it. I must say the food was good and if you're really hungry, or big eaters as my boys were, the banquet's pretty good value for $45 as it allows you to top up your mains as many times as you can eat. The mains on their own though, at about $25 each and for what you got (eight small to medium sized prawns in the prawn masala and same number of beef cubes in the beef vindaloo), were way overpriced. Then again, the boys must have had the equivalent of four mains each in top-ups. That's $100 worth for $45. Even with the overpricing, that was a good deal. What I didn't like was that you must order banquet for all in the party or not at all. So, while the boys had value for money, the girls, with the exception of my oldest, did not. Will I go again? Sure, if the mood and the company's right.

Bottled Irritation. Would you pay a cover charge just to get a table in a restaurant? To me that sounds like the sort of reverse-psychology marketing scam that might even work on the cool and trendy Mt Lawley strip. I'm talking about plain old water here BTW. As you enter Gogo's, your host for the evening places an expensive bottle of the stuff on the table along with the menus -- whether you want it or not. That's kinda pushy IMHO. Surely manners dictate that you are at least asked whether you want the stuff?

To be fair, the quality of the food is reasonably high, but then so are the prices -- and the portions aren't exactly gargantuan. In contrast, the winelist is a travesty of the cheap and nasty kind. Bubbles aside, there were only a couple of whites that stood any chance of competing with spicy food. Unfortunately, the Gewurztraminer I chose turned out to be of the chemical-laden headache-inducing kind. Well, at least there was plenty of water to wash it down with... right?
Kirsten
Great. We love this place, if we feel like indian we pretty well always end up here and have never been disappointed. The tasting plate for entree is amazing!
Happy Eater
Over billing. We paid $60 a head for a banquet meal. The food was satisfactory and there was no excess of food as described by other reviewers. We had only 1 bottle of wine and stuck to water as we were all driving. The restaurant was cold so we all kept our coats on. Service was so so. I think we shall be trying other places in the future

Seriously, what is the fuss all about?. Sometime since I have been here - their are far too many great restaurants to need to try this one again.
Features:
> Good food. Not gob smackingly write-home-to-tell-the-folks-about-it delicious, but modestly tasty fare that will satisfy most. Certainly far better Indian around town.
> That's - of course - if you can get your mains served at the same time ... planning in this restaurant is ordinary to sat the least - my main arrived 30 minutes before my wife's!
> Getting a drink proved more difficult than the freo dockers winning a granny - we asked 4 times for a coke which was never delivered, and our table was pretty much ignored the whole night.
> The bill? Well let's just say that as far as value for money goes, this would be in my bottom 10% of restaurants I have been to.

Go-go to Gogos!!. We gathered at Gogos in March for a birthday dinner, with a largish group of about 12.

Service was slow, on the other hand, the food was excellent. We went with the banquet option and were provided with lashings of food that was tasy, tasty, tasty!!

I would definitely recommend Gogos if you're a fan of Indian food, just don't expect awesome service.

Great & authentic indian food. Delicious! enjoyed our meal thoroughly and thought the service was adequate, the dishes reasonably priced & well above par for indian in perth. will be returning soon!

Fantastic Naan. I came here awhile back and recall their garlic naan as the tastiest I've had.
Steve
Best indian in perth. Hands down best indian - get the tandoori lamb chops if you are stopping by. They have an all you can eat menu too, I think you need 6 people but for $40 each its worth it.
