Review Cafe La Tay - Perth

Dean Buck
The best chicken burger and chips I've ever had. Staff are friendly, however I think most of them are backpackers etc, so English isn't always perfect. I go there every week, they know me, treat me well, and I've never had a bad meal. Can't ask for more than that.

Coffee and ambience is great. Friendly staff and make your choice to either sit in or out. Fresh food made daily.

The food is average, coffee is good but it's weird it's a dry cleaner too. <br/><br/>I also don't like the cash only places that have an atm with a 2.5 $ fee - I never carry cash

Spicy Thai Chicken Salad. Yummy!!

Ranjit and crew serve up great coffee and delicious food with a smile. There is a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction and this is a favourite haunt for many loyal customers. I especially recommend the yummy savoury muffins which are toasted to perfection with a generous spread of butter. Go try for yourself.

Good little coffee shop and great staff...

Delicious lunchbox specials. I come here pretty much exclusively for the lunchbox specials - really tasty and authentic Thai and Malaysian curries where you can actually see the lemongrass, and there are actual vegetables as well! The servings are generous and the price is pretty good - $8.50 for curry and rice. Delicious. Also, I've always had excellent service. Just sayin.

Love this cafe. Im a regular coustomer at the cafe la tay , and to the lady complaining about the sandwich price ,I was right behind her waiting to put through my lunch order , First of all the prices are clearly written on the menu board so she should've checked the price before she decide to order ,second she needs to understand that the everything made to order requires more labour using fresh ingredients, plus the serving size is at the cafe la tay is very filling , In regards to the owner attitutde , It was her who was extremley loud and behaving like a uneducated person , as we can all tell by looking at her review using words like POS, so before you point fingers at someone else ,listen to yourself first , oh n I recommend next time she should go to macdonlads n buy herself a happy meal, might help her with attitude that stinks... Cafe la tay is beautiful cafe with a great service and food with VERY reasonable price...

Love my local spot. I saw the review below and was appalled at the way people write to a owner and business. I come here every week, and I absolutely love it. It's fairly priced and the staff are so wonderful, I feel right at home. I get my fix of delicious coffee and food and am never disappointed. I would definitely recommend it to any one of my friends. <br/><br/>As for those rude reviews below, haven't you heard the saying:<br/>"If you don't have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all"

Pathetic service, over priced food ($8.50 for a ham and cheese sandwich because it's 'made to order') oh and the owner talks at you like you're a p.o.s don't bother when there are plenty of other places within a 5 minute walk!

What's Customer Service?. Horrible customer service and horrible in general. Waited 25 minutes for a simple sandwich to be made, whilst my friend had already been served her food from the cabinet at the front. Other people had sat down at the cafe and been served ahead of our table. They must have forgotten to make the sandwich. Not only that, when the sandwich finally came out, the order had been taken down incorrectly. The manager came over and did offer a refund so at least that was a positive.

Cosy & rustic. What a gem this little cafe is. I love the rustic decor and the comfy chairs. Yesterday I had the spicy mee goreng which was lovely and the coffee was excellent. Lovely friendly staff too. I walk past here each day and they have menu boards out on the pavement with different daily specials, usually Asian type. On a blustery cold day it was just lovely to sit by the fire for a while. I will keep coming back.

It's difficult to say what makes this cafe so ordinary. It could be the second rate produce, or the uninspiring coffee, or the cheap cutlery or the general feeling that your inconveniencing the staff by being there. In any case it's not bad but it is by no means great...it really could be a lot better with very little effort.

Turkey club sandwich was old and awful. Nice chips. Rude service.

Lovely set up!. The blistering heat in Perth really gives me the munchies. I chose just the right place to dine with this one (rarely happens). Ample space and a beautiful set up! Kudos to the thought put in! the variety in the menu really screams out a taste of the diversity that comes together in Perth! definitely a place to come to with your friends!

Definitely coming back!. The steak sandwich i had was absolutely brilliant! Succulent and Juicy just the way Daddy likes them :-) My daughter had herself a chicken burger and it was nothing but smiles from then on. Cheeky wink to lovely lady working the cash register! (I'm divorced)

We really love this venue, very friendly hostess, good food and reasonable prices. Cosy couches around the fire in cooler months and cute garden with shady trees. Love it, give it a try.

Woeful coffee. Substandard and expensive food.

Cafe food with a Malaysian twist. I've had breakfast an lunch here a few times. The inside of the cafe is much nicer than your typical small cafe (there's even a fireplace), and there are tables and chairs outside for when the weather is warmer. <br/><br/>They offer a selection of sandwiches, wraps and frittatas, as well as other hot dishes and curries. I've always gone for one of the specials (they seem to offer the same specials all the time) the $13.90 Nasi Lemak. It comes with small deep fried fish (anchovies?), a small piece of battered fried fish with a spicy red sauce, a piece of fried chicken, coconut rice, wilted spinach, egg, and sliced tomato and cucumber (it's a good selection). <br/><br/>I've also had their blueberry banana bread, but I would advise against getting it toasted (it ends up overcooked and contaminated by other flavours). The macadamia slice was also nice, but very sweet.<br/><br/>Coffee is ok and the service is reasonable though they do seem to get a little overwhelmed at lunch. <br/><br/>They are only open weekdays, from 6:30 to 4:30, and breakfast is served till 11:00. In the afternoon I think they also serve alcohol (the sign on the window says something like 'coffee, food, wine').

If you like your satay flavorsome matched with a slightly spicy yet extremely rich peanut sauce, this is kick ass. Deceiving satay felt hard to dismember using utensils but fell off the skewer effortlessly when bitten of the stick.
