Review Red Chilli Sichuan Restaurant - Perth

Ordered dry mala pot for dinner and it was delicious! Approximately 30mins waiting time on a Sunday (24/4) night. The restaurant seemed to be short staffed as there were many tables uncleared but kudos to the 2 staffs working at the front for giving the best customer service!

Really great service. Only had 30mins before a fringe world show and they knew exactly what would come out of the kitchen in time for us. Was delicious food and wish we could have stayed longer!
Celine Williams
Very friendly staff. Good ambience. Very flavourful dishes. One of our new favourite places.

We ordered chili fish, chili chicken, fried buns and some cold noodles. The Sichuan chili chicken is a must have. We liked it so much that we ordered the second portion! Food came out very quickly and the waitresses were very attentive.

Quite disappointed this time. Was a really good Szechuan style restaurants before. Order a seafood rice cracker but is a totally disaster. Rice cracker suppose be crsipy but reality is, whole rice cracker is drawn in the sauce and super soft. BBQ fish is quite disappointed as well. Before really good and warm with fire. This time is like in the middle of oil and warm with coal. The other is fine.

Scored an easy Street Park. Authentic Sichuan Chinese restaurant with a large menu & full service bar. Fried rice with egg is flavourful without being overpowering and perfectly compliments the spicy meal. retrieve the chili garlic sliced pork which was delicious with the chinking vinegar, rice wine, a dash of the numbing mala, and spice. The school of fried prawns with chilli was an excellent crowd pleaser. The coriander stir fry beef was also very good. Iodine the service was excellent. The waitress was very attentive. Toilets could do with some improvement. Great Chinese tea.

Picture this: it's a cold rainy winter day and your tongue is feeling a tad bit frisky... Yep, exactly, it's time for hot green tea and a dash of 🌶. The food is brilliant at red chilli, especially if you sorted out your favorites. May I highly recommend the red chilli fish special #35. So good!!!

They have a very good lunch deal so go check it out. The service was a bit slow today despite there werent a lot of customers. The food was very good soup was very average.

We will never ever go there again. Poor service poor food. And they even wanna charge us $200 cleaning fee. Ridiculous!!

This was the worst dining experience ever in my life.

We went as a group last week, the dining room was booked weeks ago, turned out that the table was not well set and not enough chairs.

The room was full of smoke as customers in next room was smoking, and staff did not take right action to stop the smokes. We had a 1.5 year old toddler who was unsettled all night because of the smoke.

The food was not cooked and prepared as the way ordered, and no one came to us to explain.
Some dishes were ordered but never show up and no feedback no explanation till we checked and had to cancel them.

The eggs in one of the dishes were spoiled.

No proper table service provided for the 3 hours duration, all empty plates were on the table and no waiter/waitress ever bother picking them up.

The waitress manner was terrible and sometimes rolled her eyes to us when we asked for assistance.

At the end, we got overcharged bill.

We reached out to the business owner/manager the other day to provide the feedback, got rude and nonsense responses and she blamed us for fake statements.

Never ever come back again!

Would give it negative stars but that's not possible. Food was inauthentic and so bad it ruined my whole day

Foods were very good but our waitress couldn’t speak English. I chose an item from the menu and she said smth tgat I didn’t understand whole shaking her head and pointed smth else to order🤷‍♀️ No clue. So I just said OK. Fortunately food came out very good👍
Nikki
The food is excellent but there is only one staff during the day who understands English. Our order was messed up twice because the server was using an online app to understand what we were ordering. Wish they could employ more staff who can take orders in English.

The restaurant was almost empty when we arrived. I can understand why. we started with the cucumber and chilli chicken and it tasted ok. We ordered dumplings and chilli fish. the dumplings were disgusting with the smallest amount of meat and all flour. The chilli fish was like eating mushed up fish balls and all chilli. We were regulars until today. We won't be back and would not recommend. To make matters worse when we complained to the waitress she just walked away. Gladly took our money even though we hardly touched the dumplings or the chilli fish. Wouldn't surprise me if they served it up to the next stupid person that were unlucky enough to eat at this restaurant. If we could give zero we would. Do yourself a favour and avoid this restaurant. My wife is Chinese and was thoroughly disgusted with both the meal and the attitude of the staff.
DONT GO THERE

Yummmmmm!!!! Delicious and authentic Sichuan food. Some of the dishes were so spicy but it wasn’t painful. And that pain was just right! Nice decor, good for big groups and good service. Enjoyed the menu which had pictures, helpful for ordering. Will be coming again.

Looked like an interesting genuine Chinese restaurant. Seated quickly, no booking. Orders taken within 5 minutes. Intriguing menu. No food or drink arrived next 40 minutes. Others served after arriving after us. Left after complaining. No sensible explanation.
Luis Cardim
Good tasty food but NOWHERE near as hot as i was expecting which was a let down as thats what you'd expect coming to a sichuan restaurant. Overall tasty food.
Lydia Li
A very popular Chinese restaurant so you need to go earlier, otherwise you have to wait at least 20mins (during dinner time). Most food are spicy so be prepared.

Completely destroyed Chinese cuisine's 4,000 years of history. Had a deep fried fish that was so stale we could taste the stink. Woolies sells better roasted chicken and duck's so dry it's a fire hazard. The dessert pictured was the last straw... only the brave dared to give it a shot.

Very authentic Sichuan Chinese restaurant, good location with easy parking around. Very busy restaurant normally packed with customers
would like to go back again

Great restaurant with nice foods! Me and my finally really enjoyed the seafoods! Planning to have dinner with friends here! Highly recommended.

I've been privileged enough to go around Australia and visit all the red chilli restaurants during my gap year holiday. Their shredded pork with garlic sauce is no doubt one of the best Sichuan cuisine they make. Red chilli and its franchisees is by for the only store that does no sell the dumb down version. It is made with all the ingredients, therefore it's just like the one you would get in when you visit Sichuan. I recommend you to Go to your local Red chilli to try this mouth watering goodness. You'll definitely enjoy its. 5.3.2017

A friend took us to this place for yum Cha, it turned out to be another Chinese restaurant now, still keep the yum Cha thing , but add up more Sichuan cuisines which is surprisingly good, the asparagus lettuce is must- try !!! So refreshing!

Oh my that was good! Great service with lovely waiters and waitresses. The greatest food in Perth My absolute favourite! I could eat here everyday without a doubt.
Nick Huang
Highly recommendable place for Chinese food. Excellent dishes are served with a variety of szechuan flavours and spices. The service is also very good.

Try the hot pot fish It goes perfectly with spicy dishes.

Red chilli restaurant always makes me feel at home no matter where i am. I have been to Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne, and have tried most of red chilli restaurants. They all impressed me!
Fooodisluxury
Just like what we had in Canberra. The company tried to keep the shops within a certain standard.! IT was very good and we ordered the dried hop pot again, and it was still very lovely. Nailed it!
Emily Chan
We ordered some things called cured pork. I thought it was something like bacon but it was totally different! They dis that in their own farm which is amazing!!! I will try some more next time
Kaka
When I was traveling around china, one thing impressed me a lot is the spice Sichuan chef uses. It was horriable at first but later on I started to like it! This place just meet my needs
Alex Wang
Every time to wait for a long time, it makes me very uncomfortable, but the food is really delicious ah! Every week to eat once, because the food here is really too much of my temptation!
Songqi Yang
i traveled to west australia only to find out in such outback place, we could have this authentic sichuan food. it is such luxury! the dry hot pot was very good as well
Ally Lin
nice foods here, its opposite to the park , and easy find the parking。
they do have lots of choice 。。。。。
that's nice sichuan foods in the perth。。。
😍😍😍😍😍

I've been to this restaurant more times than I can remember, with groups from 2 to over a dozen. It was a novelty when it opened; since then there have been other upscale chinese restaurants, but only red chili is worth the price. The wait can be crazy so get there early.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

By now the menu is familiar like an old friend. With family & friends I've eaten pretty much every item. If you don't get the Xiao Long Bao, what are you doing here?
Get them!

What else do I order again & again? Pork chop with fried rice, vegetarian delight (sesame salad of hard tofy, fungus, beansprouts etc). The spicy wonton in sichuan pepper sauce are addictive, & go well with the milder vegetarian buns. Wonton noodle soup with spinach sounds simple but is really well done. ood: Amazing food, great service/hospitality!
Waiters are always around to cater for our needs.
Dumplings & noodles taste amazing and fresh!
Full of flavor and the presentations of each dish are always spectacular.
great atmosphere, good restaurant to have your gatherings and dinner.

As I am now a regular at this restaurant, this place has not let me down once.😋😋😋😋😋😋😋
Emily
Amazing spicy food and great service!!!!! Always on the top of my eating list. Chef special fish fillet is a MUST TRY - Hot and spicy !!! Definitely worth for a try.

this restaurant is the first choose for me to eat a dinner with my friends. I like to eat spicy food, and I think it is a good place for me. I think the hot pot beef is very delicious.

A really enjoyable taste of China in a very nice and relaxed atmosphere with high quality food and service. Really worth a visit for a Chinese meal that will excite your taste buds!

It is a truth that the food is very good. Of course, I had to admit that I like spicy food very. As for the service, I think the staffs is very enthusiastic, they always let me feel friendly.
Unvenomous
oppsite to the park of north bridge, used to have my friend Partick as the manager there, but now is a girl named Amy.
their yum cha is average however spicy food are still excellent under their brand name. the chilli crab is awsome!
Yingying Shu
The china style decoration here is impressive and unique.

Service is good.

And I have to mention, Dry Pot is a really interesting cooking way here, we just ordered several kinds of meats and vegetables on the menu—it can be a random combination, and they cooked them together. To my surprise, it tastes awesome!
Jeffery
Cold dishes are good. Desserts are unbelievably tasty. This red chilli restaurant is really special as it has more delicious dishes than other red chilli restaurant.
Dongxu Li
Always tasty and yummy food with fast service and kindly staff! My favourite dish here is the chef special fish fillets, in which the fish is full of the taste of chill and peppers. If you like Chinese food, especially spicy food, you should definitely try this place!
Yu
The foods was amazing here, we ordered Ma Po Toufu, special fish and asparagus lettuce, all dishes were so good, best recommended
The services were good and kindly waiters.
Sam Zhang
I love the Chinese food here. A large variety of nicely spiced dishes that are the right serving for one. The cold dishes are tasty as well.
Rechard Smith
I really like the dry spicy pot here. Mix different foods together and cook them with chilli and chinese pepper. You can have diverse experiences in one dish. That's amazing.
Yvonne
This place is great value for money. As a table of four we ordered two entrees and four dishes. The menu was huge, lots of options. Everything was very tasty, service was friendly
Jeanette
Big improvement! The food is so GOOD! My favourite dimsums -- fresh prawn in rice flour roll, steamed prawn dumplings, sesame ball are SUPER NICE! Definitely be back!!!!
Tina Hu
I went there for dimsum last weekend,I'm surprised they had made a huge progress from few month ago!The food might be the best one I've ever had in Perth, and the waitress was very helpful,I'll recommend my friends to there!

Always yummy. One of the staple spicy Sichuan restaurant to go. Very authentic food. I reckon the service is pretty good and food comes out quickly for the dishes. Yum Cha can be a bit slower than other places, but not bad

This is by far the worst dimsum restaurant in northbridge. The service is horredous. I know that it is a public holiday and I have expected to pay surcharge. So we waited good 30 mins for our table. Went in there, we ordered chrysanthemum tea, they served us xiang pian. Fine it is still chinese tea. We called for Chilli oil 3 times with 5 minutes break interval because we do not want to be annoying customers. The chilli oil finally made its grand arrival to our table. We only had 1 siew mai. The lady who pushed the trolley around did not make it to our table. All we had was char siew bun, chicken feet, siew mai and prawn dumplings. We were still hungry. We thought we could order what we want from the manager. The manager asked if wanted to normal dishes. I said no I wanted to order dimsum. She asked me does dimsum need to be ordered? So she took my order very unwillingly. We continued our endless wait again. After 10 mins, we decided not to wait anymore. My friend complaint to the cashier/manager that we have been waiting the whole time and the service was bad. Manager got angry looks like he was going to pick a fight. He toned down and said it is public holiday everywhere is the same. Yes we expect u to be busy. But you were clearly under staffed. And you put a sign up saying that you have 10% surcharge. Do we as customers told you we want discount because the service was bad? You as the manager wanted to pick a fight for something that you know you have not done well. You did not apologise. For the entire 1.5 hour in your restaurant we only spent $23.80. It is evident how slow your service is and how much time we wasted. Don't waste your time here, there are dozens of other dim sum places in northbridge more worth your time and money. This restaurant is worth condemning. I would give negative rating if i could.
LittleGirlBigFood
The food here is very fresh. It is yummy and good value. However the service was very slow and one wants fast service when getting dim sum. I will go back though.
Julie
I love their food especially spicy fish soup but we ordered vege dish which didnt come out for more than 50min. We asked some waiter n waitress but didnt helpful at all. Some ppl who came later than us already got thier dish.

Went to Red Chilli this Sunday morning as I remember the Golden Century that used to be there being good for dim sum. Upon entering the restaurant looked nice and updated but was empty and for good reason. Red Chilli is at best terrible. The Char Siew Bau is horrible, it tastes like frozen pre-packaged that has been warmed up. The Shanghai Dumpling were cold and dry. The Fried Squid is cold with no spice. Many common items were missing from the menu and to top it off trying to use the change we received from the restaurant we noticed we only got half a $20 note. Would not recommend at all. While service was decent, I come to eat food at dim sum not a good chat.
Janice
Came here for dim sum lunch... there's potential for improvement, but generally it's lacking in dim sum food quality and presentation compared to the more popular dim sum places. Service is good.
Asian's Taste
When I walked into this restaurant..first impression wow..nice and big space. We even get a big table for 3 people. Unlike any other dim sum place always cramp.
In term of the food:
prawn rice flour roll and Steam Shanghai dumpling-skins was too thick
Squid - nice and crispy but a bit bland
The rest of the food was average
The only thing that stand out was eggs tart-love this one. If they could make the pastry thinner it would be perfect
In term of the service- they are efficient
Ming
Not sure why a Sichuan restaurant is serving dim sum, but we tried it anyway.
Siew mai were rubber bullets, squid tentacles weren't crispy, chee chong fun was a bit thick but not too bad, the beef balls weren't nice (probably the fault of the herb they used) the xiaolongbao and charsiewpau were average. Even with 25% off dim sum, we won't be going back. We would go back to try their Sichuan food, hopefully it's better than their Cantonese food ...

I do like Asian food and since I have tried the food at Northbridge a few times and like the food but THE OWNER OR THE RUNNING MANAGEMENT IS SO DUSCASTING THE WAY THEY TREAT THERE COUSTERMERS !!! I FEEL THEY ARE VERY RACIS TO OTHER NATIONALITY PART CHINES . MORE SO TO THE DARKER SKIN . THERE ARE A FEW ASIAN RESTAUARNTS IN NORTHBRRIDGE THAT I HAVE FOUND TOBE THAT WAY !! I ASK IF ANY ONE HAS SEEN OR HAD FELT THIS WAY ??? I WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THESE OWNERS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF ANTI DESCRIMINTION AND EDUCATE THEM AND MORE !! SO IF YOU ARE TREATED THIS WAY PLEASE LEAVE A COMENT HERE TO PUT A STOP TO THIS .THERE IS NO PLACE IN THIS MODEN SOCIETY FOR THIS KIND OF PRATICE ANY WARE !!!!

Went here tonight with a group of 8. We were just passing by and decided to give it a try. We were all very impressed with the dishes we ordered. The food was fresh, tasty (quite hot and spicy) and nicely presented. At the end of the meal we were served a complimentary platter of watermelon and orange segments which was a very nice gesture and most appreciated. I would definitely return to this restaurant

This is one of my favorite spicy food venue. Sichuan can get very spicy, especially i don't like the numbness on my tongue from the sichuan pepper, so i normally asked them to make it mild if it is possible. i love their fish in the preserved vegetable soup, very big portion and well worth the price.

My partner and I, really do LOVE Sichuan food - especially husband and wife. We came there last night and the dishes were nice. We wouldn't try the century eggs again though - expensive and average for our liking. The Sichuan restaurant in Vic Park is top notch in contrast to this place.
Tina Hou
A very authentic Szechuan restaurant. Been there many times. Food are of course very spicy or no sense to go there. So don't go if you couldn't handle it. Service is friendly and on time.

A friend of mine went to this restaurant to celebrate her birthday and have lunch with her partner. She was terribly disappointed with the meal and the service.

Horrible experience. We had a groupon voucher for 6 to this place and all I have to say it's was the worst one compared to other groupon ones I have used ; we had to order more dishes because the one where excepted with the voucher were so chili our ears where so burning to the point everyone kept on sneezing even we asked for milled. $140 on top of the voucher only to realise that with voucher or not the food is not worth it (horrible), the Duck looked nice and golden on the menu yet the one we received was dark brown and so dry to the point it felt as if there was no meet on it
not only that we had to wait and keep asking about the dishes and (one person say coming the other say oh did you order that?)
I was so embarrassed in front of my guest, the voucher cost me $85 which suppose to be worth it $174 plus we added $140
so $314 worth of horrible food, we will never ever go there again
Tamsin.moran
Authentic and delicious. Huge array of dishes that took me right back to Sichuan. The staff were friendly, dishes arrived quickly and the decor is lovely. I can't wait to take my family here for a very tasty, authentic Sichuan banquet. This place deserves a better rating!
Stuartdaisley
Don't bother. Just back from being here.
We had a groupon voucher for this pace and have to say it's the worst one compared to other groupon ones we have been to (comparing to 10 different places).
Don't know if it's because we went there on a deal but the food was horrible you just knew it was cheap ingredients. We just left half way through.
If the food it's the same for everyone i wouldn't bother
Chelle
Really enjoyed our dinner here, great waitress, such a lovey personality! food was nice &tasty. Loved the lamb, tongue &tripe. But the fish was the winner for me, yum flavour massive serve size. Couldn't finish it all between two people!! Deffo coming back!
FoodieKitten
No Dim Sum only Sichuan dishes. The restaurant is no longer serving dim sum on the day, they serve Sichuan dishes during lunch and dinner however they do serve some snack dishes like boiled dumplings, green onion pancakes, spring rolls, taro balls and Cantonese sponge cakes. They do offer a good varieties of Sichuan dishes, we enjoyed the foods and the comfort of the restaurant (with traditional style Chinese fit out) and definitely will return.
Stanley Tan
The food that we normally go for is Singaporean/Malaysian style home-cooked meals...How good the food tastes is the top priority. The first dish we had was literally translated as ‘Husband and Wife Lung Slices’. Besides Stan’s parents, everyone else on the table weren’t huge fans of any type of dishes that involved animal organs and innards. However, to our surprise, we were delighted to find that the dish was rather delicious. The spicy sauce garnished with peanuts and coriander was just enough to cover any unpleasant odour and taste that most animal organs have. So, if you’re not a fan of innards but still adventurous enough, do give this dish a try.
Dumpling Love
I've been to the Red Chilli establishments in Sydney before, but this is the group's first venture in WA so I was pretty interested to see whether (A) it's the same company, and (B) the food is as good. It IS the same company but as of yet, I have only had dimsum there and not the actual meals so I can only comment on the dimsum! Note though, they no longer run dimsum service and serve only traditional Szechuan dishes for lunch and dinner now. The establishment took over Golden Century and to be honest, I was devastated. Golden Century was our go-to place for dimsum...the thought of not getting their egg tarts broke my heart. With no choice, we needed to find a new place, and we chanced upon Red Chilli's dimsum service so decided to give it a go. Clockwise from bottom-left: beancurd skin roll, xiao long bao, char siu bao, prawn & coriander dumplings, scallop & prawn dumplings, har gau, feng jiao. The entire restaurant is decked out in traditional Chinese decor, albeit with some muta

Likes: Shanghai dumplings, decent range...Value for money: cheap but inconsistent food quality
