Review Saffron Fine Persian Cuisine - Perth

Stephen Murphy
We have never had Persian food before so decided to take the kids tonight. the new management have a real passion about the food and it shows through on the plate. We loved every mouthful of the food they recommended to us. We would definitely recommend and will be going back. Thank you for the experience. Good luck guys.

I am originally from the Eastern states and this place is my new go to for all things Persian. The owner and staff are lovely and more than happy to help or just chat about all things Persian. I personally love their cream cakes, baklava and speciality bread. They also have spices, herbs, healthy loose leaf teas, nuts, interesting drinks, rose water... well anything Persian you could need! I seriously love this place, I feel like I’m traveling somewhere exotic every time I go!

I had my 21st birthday dinner here and it was such a great experience that I came back for numerous other special occasions, as well as just casual dinners. The Lamb Koobideh is my go-to: flavourful and exquisite. The decor is stunning and buffet Fridays are always a lot of fun. The obscure location in a rear lot probably hurts them (quite unfairly). Thankfully, I live nearby so, for me, this is a definite 5 star all around.

Fantastic buffet, reasonable prices and very friendly family style crew. If you want to impress your Australian friends with persian cuisine, this might be your best choice. Chef also is the business owner's wife and she does a fantastic job in my opinion.

Very clean & inviting restaurant. The service was impeccable, friendly. The food was fantastic. Huge portions, absolutely authentic, many choices, all very fresh. And very good value. Plenty for takeaway too. Love love love this place.

We went to Saffron restaurant las Saturday. The service was quite good. The food was well cooked but the flavour of the food did not suit our palates. We were expecting the food to be more spicy (but not hot) than it was.

I ate two days ago in this restaurant. The quality was awful! I didn't expect this low quality of Barg and Koobideh kebab. I have never eaten such bad food in Australia. The price also, for such a poor quality, was way too high. I hope they consider a big change in their service.
Fahim Azharul
Two serves of rice with two skewers of lamb/mutton, one skewers of chicken (really dry), 4 thin pieces of thin bone dry beef and some vegi with tiny amount of salad for $55! Too expensive and taste wise very average and flat. Good customer service though.

Went here because food from previous owners was excellent and service attentive. The buffet food was cold and little left at 730. Service was patchy and not competent. New owner doesn’t seem to understand how to run a restaurant. Disappointing night
I think is good service and good price for Persian food good atmosphere for
Clean and tidy
Not many Persian restaurant in perth
Saffron is good real Persian foood
Highly recommend

Got this through uber eats and it was awful. Rock hard naan bread, wrong food was delivered and there was no rice when the menu said it came with it. The 'trio' of dip was actually just one. Would not recommend

Have been here twice in the last 2 years and have had very different experience in each visit – like north pole n South Pole. First time the food was delicious and tasted authentic. The staff were friendly, attentive, food arrived on time, was cooked to perfection. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was nice. The second time we went there the experience was just not up to the mark, the food was average. The food was well cooked but was lacking flavour. Even the staff were not attentive, took about 45 mins for the food to arrive – so overall not a very good experience. I have tried few Persian restaurants in Perth and in Australia and have to admit that the food tasted bland and lacked flavour – definitely not one of the best Persian restaurants. The rating is based on the overall experience and both the visits.

2nd time here. Nice family run restaurant tucked away in a shopping strip. Food dishes were nicely presented and friendly service. Prices were reasonable. The kebabs were good but the shanks fatty. I ordered the traditional gorme sabsi lamb dish but there was hardly any meat in it and it tasted burnt. The bread and yoghurt sides were very nice

Excellent food and warm hospitality.

We had a great night and enjoyed the food which was well prepared and beautifully presented, with great service. The prices were great for the quality of food, will certainly be going back .A+++++

I'd never experienced persian cuisine before, but we were pleasantly surprised. Ordered a series of dishes on recommendation from waiter. Some grilled meats/curry types. Highlight was the lamb shank for me. Loved the rice too that went with it. The sour berry/pomegranate juice were interesting ones too.
Price wise, unless you are die hard fan of that type cuisine, their friday buffet might be better value imho.

Ordered take away. Very disappointed. Overpriced and not worth it. No flavour and definitely no value for money. Food is worth the wraps u get after a night out at 4am. Not even worth half of what they charge. Arrived there on a friday at 7.30pm and the restaurant was completely empty and I was immediately worried. Guess the "crowd" spoke for itself!

Delicious food and what a amazing service! Had our 1 year old with us and they entertained him and thought about the little touches. The prices are very good and fair for the beautiful genourous portions. If you never tried persian, this place is a must!! 3rd time here and they are always consistent!

This place is the real deal! Delicious Persian food- very authentic. Highly recommend! Try the lamb baghali polo, gormeh sabzi and the kebab platter.

Not recommended , the kebabs were cold and off , I got sick after eating here. The prices were high, they charges us $12 for yoghurt which was super runny and tasteless , more like milk.
Beautifully decorated restaurant. professional, friendly staff and well presented food. I personally wasn't a fan of the tastes of Persian food although everything was cooked well and all my friends loved their meals. So overall, a really nice restaurant and worth the try.

I would not recommend this restaurant to my worst enemy!
the food was horrible in that the meat was off resulting in too frequent visits to the bathroom
service was unfriendly

My husband and I used a Groupon voucher last night for dinner. Although the restaurant had only a family and another couple the atmosphere was pleasant with background Persian music. The voucher was for a set menu. Shared Mat-o-Khiyar (yoghurt and cucumber dip) and lovely warm bread. The second dish was a platter of boneless chicken breast, steak fillet and minced lam kebab - my husband who normally prefers very well cooked meat was pleasantly surprised and sent compliments to the chef for the beautiful tender and flavoured meats. This was served with a plate of rice each and a lovely fresh salad to share. I must admit too much food for a couple, but you are missing a lovely meal if you do not try the Saffron Persian.

My boyfriend and I were craving Middle Eastern food and found this gem around the corner from us. You wouldn't know from the location but it's delicious! It was a Saturday night and we got the last table. The place with buzzing with such a good atmosphere. Suddenly the waitress lit all the candles and a belly dancer came out to entertain us all. She was fantastic and everyone was laughing and dancing.

The staff were beyond friendly and the meal was reasonably priced with great portions. BYO as well. I will definitely be making another visit

I cannot consider this a persian restaurant. Its called Saffron but they dont use the spice in the food. you cant taset it specially on the so called persian ice cream. Will never go there again and dont recommend it to anyone
Marciadabomb
Inedible. Absolutely disgusting and over priced. We got take away and couldn't eat it when we got home. The tomato was burnt, garnish on the side added nothing to the meal, rice plain and tasteless and the meat smelt like it was rotten even our dog wouldn't eat it.
Don't waste your time or money!!
Harry792
Banquet , we'll sort of. Purchased a Groupon 4 course "banquet" , not sure why but some how a can of coke is included as a course??? But it was !! Ripped off!!!! So evidently 3 course is was was served , even saying that it was really only 2 course ! A sad tomatoe salad really doesn't count, does it?

OMG the food at Saffron is out of this world. And the owners and their staff are so delightful with the most gracious hospitality. We thought we were going out for a feed but.... we had the most amazing FEAST. No room for sweets! We had the lamb shanks with herbed rice, and the dizi stew. They were both divine - unbelievably flavoursome, such an unexpected gastronomic delight. You should try this place - I hope you love it as much as we did. And the atmosphere is so welcoming and peaceful - the family next to us was having such a good time. So easy to enjoy. Can't wait to go again : ) Thank you so much for a delightful meal and experience

Loved it!. Brilliant!! Ignore all the bad reviews - I never leave reviews but I feel this place deserved it! The place has a very authentic feel and food was faultless. Yes it's a lot of rice but it's typical Persian ! Meat was amazing. Great job guys!!
David.pickering85
Fantastic!. Wonderful staff, amazing good. Price is a little high but worth every cent.

We traveled from a far away land - Byford, and it was worth the drive.

BEST KEBAB! best gormeh sabzi!

Thank you for a wonderful valentines day meal.

Dave & Shirrin.

Love the food. The best persian restaurant in perth,
Best kebab

Great authentic Iranian cuisine with lots of flavour. Had Mixed platter of kebabs on skewer. Chicken, beef and Lamb with saffron rice. Very delicious and quality of meet was superb. Very lean no fat. Will strongly recommend this place!
Omar
Possibly the worst food I've ever ate, the food had zero taste, the mixed meat platter tasted like it had been marinated in lemon dish washing liquid, disgusting & terrible and the price, my goodness god knows where the owner came up the prices from one of the most expensive Arab restaurants, I don't mind paying a lot of money for good food but that was just yuck, I will give credit to the waitress she was sweet & that is all, and btw the restaurant was empty when we went. They need to over look the pricing & put some bloody flavour in the food, it's not rocket science putting some spices on meat.
Billybob
Would not dine here. I will not dine where the owners have no consideration for the disabled. Using someone else's Acrod pass is illegal and very inconsiderate
Marciakara84
Disgusting and disappointing!!!. We decided to try this place as we wanted to try Persian and wish we hadn't bothered!!!!
It was extremely over priced!!! Nearly $70 for 2 meals that we barely ate.
The majority of the meal was Rice which was semi cold and the most bland boring rice we have ever tasted. The beef mince kebab smelt horrible and I had to throw it away as the smell alone nearly put me off my meal.
Addition to the boring rice and horrible smelling sausage kebab was a burnt soggy tomato and pepper as well as some slices of onion a lime wedge and butter pat... The chicken was edible but we had to drown it in aioli so we could actually feel full.
Absolutely disgusted in this place!!! WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!

WORDST Persian Food I HAVE EVER HAD served with BAD SERVICE. THE FOOD:
Firstly let me say the rice which is usually amazing had no salt, no taste and smelt as if cooked days back. it was dry and lacked any flavour. the bread was dry and the meats well kind of OK but certainly the whole dish was not worth the $20 or $25 we paid.
THE SERVICE:
I don't think the waitress who served us knew she had to serve in a restaurant. A glass of water took 20 minutes to deliver and that is after asking another of the wait staff. All waitresses just stood there looking at each other most of the time!

Overall having driven for miles to get there, the trip was unjustified and will not be going back.
RoshSan
The staff was really nice, the portion has huge. My husband was given a massive amount of rice with only two skewer of chicken and in my case I was given a huge piece of lamb shank which was impressive and the dill rice was fabulous howere it stops here. The lamb shank was cold as if just taken out from the fridge and haven't been heated properly. The meat was cold and not pleasant to eat.
Hokhanaki
Loved it. The food, service, ambient and cleanness all great. Had a great day

Iranian Gem. Great atmosphere, large portions and lively entertainment. Interesting to see elements of East meets West Persian culture and the current music scene, as displayed by a large monitor at the stores back. Prepare for loud disco music and gallivanting belly dancers on Fridays. I strongly recommend the twin platter for a full appreciation of the kebabs on offer.
Noonnehere
Tasteless - waste of time and money. - Tasteless food
- Rude staff
- Annoying & very loud Farsi disco music
-Take forever to bring your food
-Not neat at all , the owner brought our food and his hands was in the bowl before bringing it over
-Never go there
Pari Soufi
Amazing place, amazing food and great staff. The food is amazing, the staff are very nice and friendly. Can't wait to go again. Love it.
Aminkhaki_m
Nice Food in Saffron. This restaurant has very nice and succulent food. Never miss it.
Redd Element
- Took a good 30 minutes till one of us went up to the owner at the counter to remind them of our presence at the table.
- Unbearably Loud Persian Disco Music that was totally annoying, unenjoyable and aided in ruining our evening. DJ kept speaking in Farsi so didn't get what he was on about.
- SURPRISE Set Menu ONLY. Didn't appreciate it.
- Waitress forgot about our starters abt brought them out AFTER the mains.
- Had to remind her about our soft drinks as well
- Food was pretty 'old biscuit' and boring and tasteless.

Unless you are Iranian and miss Iran don't come here. They have a Facebook page and post in Persian only and have ignored repeated requests to post updates in English.

Leave this one alone. Don't ever come here.

We decided on this restaurant as part of our exploration of Perth's growing range of international cuisine. Reading so e of the previous reviews can set ones opinions but generally we take these with a grain of salt - and just as well. Saffron Fine Persian Cuisine was a fantastic discovery, delicious food and the service was reserved but exceedingly pleasant and responsive.

To find such a palace of deliciousness in the suburbs is a true treat.

We very much enjoyed our meal and the tea and sweets to finish off at the end was perfect.

Highly recommend.
Carmen Schöffel
Mrs Carmen. We went there tonight with 12 people.
I can only say, that the food and service was very good. A pleasant clean place, with friendly waiters.
The lamb shank was to die for. All in all a good experience. We will be back!
Sam.K
Delectable. Lovely food, very good prices, friendly service, must try the roast eggplant dip, and the various kebabbed meats and grilled vegetables, all excellent! strongly recommend!

Tasty Buffet. Went to this place just over a week ago with my wife. It has recently converted to a buffet (at $35 per person). I thought it was really good value for the price and the quality of food. The buffet includes Persian Kebab (chicken and mince), proper rice, several casseroles and the usual sides. Really enjoyed it - and the staff were very friendly. Will definitely go back.
Sana
I foumd the food overpriced & not that tasty....seriously $8 for a small bowl of salad...? Food wasnt that nice, kebabs were bland. The music entertainment was so loud that i couldnt talk to my accomplice. Wouldnt go back again

Just give me the hour of my life back. Arriving at the ungodly hour of 6pm on a Saturday night (withouts kids for a change) we were greeted outside the front door by a lurking man talking loudly on his mobile while smoking. Apprently he was the boss - not a good start and showed us to our table We were guided by the overly freindly staff as to our order and went with the lamb shanks and a chicken dish. The lamb shanks were well cooked but lacking in any flavour. The chicken was the same. The rice and naan were ok and quickly became the feature of the meal. Although there we only two tables with a total of four patrons there were over 6 staff on the floor. Apparently it was a good opportunity for the cutlery to be dumped on a nearby table and sorted. Staff never left us alone. After paying the overpriced bill we went to the pizza shop out front and filled up. We don't have the opportunity to get out that often sdo I don't want my money back - just the hour of my life spent at this restaurant!
Gaz
Dissapointing. I've read the revues and thought that i'd take my family for a meal.Mistake.
The $8 olives were lovely, however the kebabs were bland and the rice watery.
For $164 for 5 people I felt it completely overpriced and would not recommend this restaurant or go back.

Great food !! Must try!!! We have tried this place couple times .. No disappointed

Recommended restaurant. We loved their food specially baghali polo (lamb shank). Kashk-e-bademjoon was lovely too. I highly recommend this restaurant for people who are looking for and used to Persian food. You get huge portion of meal for your money. Meat is properly cooked and tastes well. Rise smells divine and nice. I loved it and go back as soon as I can. People working there are polite and nice.

Novelty Persian restaurant - Great Food. We decided to check out Saffron Fine Persian tonight in spite of the recent bad reviews. It looks like a family owned restaurant, possibly could do with a hired help on a Friday. But the food was delicious. The grills were perfect, the roasted eggplant was fantastic and we had never tasted olives the way they had been prepared before. The mains could do with the choice of a mixed vegetable platter and maybe something with a bit of gravy, the grills can be a bit dry with the rice. The saffron and pistachio ice cream was a generous serve and very tasty. Even the saffron tea was refreshing. Will visit again.

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. The service is slow and they are rude. We asked for a table for two and we were seated (there was one other couple in the restaurant) about 5 minutes later she brought our menus and asked for or drinks. We were deciding on our order when she comes back and says quite rudely "this is a reserved table, you can't sit here, you need to move" we were shocked but were cooperative, and asked where she would prefer us, "not here because this is reserved". Eventually we found a table that was suitable. When we ordered it took 30 mins for our entree to come out (still no drinks) and the presentation was pretty disgusting and it smelt strongly of 'vomit'. The naan bread was nice though. We hadn't finished our entrees when she shoved our main in front of us and took our bread. My chicken was extremely dry and had no seasoning on it. My partners lamb was all fat and the rice had so much dill through it that he thought he was eating a bowl of grass. We didn't stay for dessert. And needed to go to the counter to pay
Ilovefood
Worst dining experience of all time. I eat out at a lot of restaurants, not just the fancy ones, but I appreciate a good hearty meal as much as the next person. This is what I was expecting. What I got was the worst dining experience that I have encountered. It took 20mins to even get glasses for our wine bottles and we had to go up to the counter and ask for water. Another half an hour to place our order. Another 20mins went by and we were then told by the waiters that as the kitchen was too busy they were going to give us all the same meal. We finally received our mains 2hrs after our booking time. Meat was chewy and extremely overcooked. Surely such simple food - rice, meat kebabs could be pushed out quicker (especially when we're all eating the same thing!). Meals were overpriced and they charged us for the meal we got rather than what we ordered - and most of the patrons on our table ordered a cheaper meal than the one we were given, and in addition they tried to overcharge one of the guys at our table - luckily our maths were better than theirs! Terrible. Would not go back.

Could be better. Sevice was good although only 12 people eating.food a bit dissapionting.dips need to be bigger for starters, chicken very dry could not eat it all as it needed some type of sauce to bring it to life.Dizzi had lots of fat and bone than meat , 2 small pieces, its a great shame as i we were looking forward to something very special . 6 out of 10.Hope it improves as it is quite a nice place
Jane Lodge
Wonderful Persian food. The dizzi is fabulous...authentic. Will be returning on a regular basis. Service is good with helpful, smiling family members in attendance. Great find.

Good food but awful service.also over priced.
They dont know anything about customer service , we had to wait ages to get fork etc.
Wont go back.
Mumofonedog
Overpriced. Service was good, but then again we were the only table in the restaurant early saturday night. Decor is as good as it can be, not much you can do with that sort of unit. Food was nice, quite authentic. Size of meal was not huge, except for rice, more rice than anything else.. I had lamb stew which consisted of 2 small cubes of lamb and the rest was beans and sauce, was still hungry when finished. My friends had the chicken and pomegranate, which was also very nice but just a small portion for a main meal. They too left hungry. $18 for such a small serve was a little steep. The music was very loud. Also the staff don't seem to care about customers wanting a quiet meal, making a heap of noice sorting out cutlery. That sort of housekeeping should have been finished before seating customers.
Persian food is a welcome change to Perth/Morley so I hope it does well but we will probably not go back again because of the small meal sizes.
AA24
It was okay. The food was good, but a little too plain and boring for my taste. I think the place is slightly overpriced for its location. I know the area quite well as I live around the corner. If they lower the prices I might come back.
Rob Pintabona
Great flavors basic but friendly service & atmosphere
Alice
Local. Last minute booking on a Wednesday night. The restaurant was quiet but it was quite early (?7pm). I found the service to be prompt and polite. The food was delicious. We had the eggplant dip with naan to start and loved it! We had the share plate for two as the main. The lamb was my favourite and the steak was my partners favourite. The chicken could have used a yoghurt sauce or something to liven it up. Very filling. Decor was understated and the restaurant clean and welcoming. BYO only, I believe. Will definitely be back!
Sam Farhand
Good Kebabs, Awful Service. As typical with all Persian Restaurants, all the focus is on the food but very little on the service. Which is a shame because Persians culturally make the best hosts. Either way, its a great place to eat but don't expect to get exactly what you ordered, or in a timely fashion...

Saffron delights. We dined at Saffron for the first time, on a quiet saturday evening, and were pleasantly surprised by the interesting menu and quality of the food. The decor was simple but nice, the tables spacious and clean, and the service friendly and efficient without being obtrusive.
Not being familiar with Persian cuisine, we tried a few dishes that sounded interesting and appealing, in addition to the more familiar kebabs (meat platter for 2) which seem to be a house staple. We sampled a chicken dish which featured succulently cooked chicken with a delicious pomegranate rice, and a beautifully cooked lamb dish featuring a rich onion/raisin sauce. The mixed plate of chicken, lamb and beef kebabs were cooked well and flavoured with grilled tomatoes, limes and green chilli. All dishes came with rice, which again was beautifully cooked - large fluffy grains, flavoured with spices or saffron, not a gluggy grain in sight.
The food was very low in fat (the meat was very lean) and high in flavour. It was also very well-priced at $18-30 per main. We were all very impressed and will definitely go back. Highly recommended if you want tasty, interesting, well-cooked, high quality food!!!

A great night. We were in saffron restaurant last week we really enjoyed the foods and service was fantastic . first we get eggplant for starter with fresh bread it was very delicious after that we got Darbari for main it was the best food we've had .
Peterjohn
The BEST restaurant. We went there on saturday night there were lots of customers .The food was amazing and very tasty and we had a great night also the service was very good and friendly

Went for lunch with a friend and we were the only one's there, despite that we received pathetic service. The menu had mentioned vegetarian substitutes were available but they were not serving those dishes! Placed an order for drinks and that was forgotten! Once we finished the mains we had to call the waitress, instead of her coming to us. When she did come, she brought the bill wirhout asking us whether we wanted to order anything else!! We actually wanted to order dessert as well! Food though was not bad but am never going there again and dont recommend it to any1!
Steve
Not the Best. I can only presume something has changed here. The Saffron was recommended by two different people so last night we gave it a try. The place was not really full but the atmosphere was good and so was the service, but the food was very ordinary at best. We had read the reviews of mouth-watering food and were really looking forward to something great but all four of us were disappointed in the food served to us. Then at 9.00pm on a Saturday night when we were the only table still occupied the owners made it quite obvious they waiting for us to leave, which made us feel very uncomfortable. Maybe it was just an off night, but we will not be returning anytime soon.
Christina Fernandes
Went there a month ago for take away...would never go back! The eggplant tasted of lamb fat; the chicken in the chicken, pomegranate and walnut dish was non existent and the naan dry and hard. And expensive considering the quality and size.
Sarah
Not bad for the taste buds. I like the fit out, service was pleasurable and the kebabs tasting better than fast food joints. A bit pricey for me but cant expect an 8 dollar kebab from here its more of a dine in style place.
Pete
Great Night. Went their Saturday night with my daughters on their recommendation. Really enjoyed it. For entrees we had the naan bread we were also given a side dish of fresh mint leaves, brine-soaked walnuts and almonds, and a small rectangle of feta cheese. This was followed by lamb kebabs for me which were delicious on a bed of rice and I also ordered the cucmber dip .The girls had the chicken Zereshk Polow it was also delcious melt in your mouth. The service was friendly and prompt despite a large party arriving there to dine. Added bonus was the belly dancer.
Wazza
Reasonable but dissapointing. Service very slow. At least 15 minutes to get a menu. Menu consisted of two pages with very little choice. Kebabs and half a dozen specials. We chose the olive appetiser with lavas bread. I was unfamiliar with the dish and honestly I hate olives but this dish was awesome. Very salty but good. Mains took at leastban hour to arrive. I ordered lamb shanks with dill and broad bean rice and my wife ordered a chicken dish. The lamb fell apart on the fork and tasted nice but not spectacular. The rice tasted 'stale' for want of a better word and I couldn't finish it once I exhausted the yoghurt to mix it with. My wifes chicken tasted good and the rice with barberries was bright and tangy.
On the bright side the decor was fairly nice and one of the staff was friendly. We saw the belly dancer and my wife found that amusing. We may have chosen the wrong dishes as everyone else seemed to really enjoy their meals which were mostly kebabs.
Overall 6 out of 10

Must Try!!. I loved this food! Had resturant to ourselves at 5.30pm! Loved fitted out resturant with excellent service!!! had dips and marinated olives for entree-huge serves that we couldnt finish! and this was between the two of us! Our mains were also huge-hubby had the mixed kebabs-they were divine! So fresh, spicy and tender! Cant remember name of my dish but it was a spicy marinated chicken dish werved with rice with some sort of dried berry thru it. Also served with salsa/raita! YummmY!
Will def be back!! Excellent prices too! Just shame I was too full to try desserts! Looks a great place for a function or large group!

Took me to the Middle East!. Tried Saffron Fine Persian tonight. The food was great - we ordered takeaway but will go back to try the dine in experience. Flavours were so different and therefore refreshing and nice to find something different as a local. Reasonably priced and the staff were very helpful over the phone. Apparently it's under new management but the previous chef has bought it out so reviews should continue to be good.
Rp
Awesome food.Friendly staff and a belly dancer while you r enjoyin ur dinner:).will definitely come back to this place.
Songy Knox
Pretty authentic. Friendly staff. Not over the top. Will be back for more.

Tasty meals but slow service. This is my return trip to saffron. The food was just as good but the meals took alot of time to come out once again. I think they have not enough staff on as it is a very family business. another thing is that the zereshk polo rice accompaniment had almonds the first time and now it didnt have it anymore. Other than that its still good value for money and the food is tasty
Jack
Nice experience. It's definitively a good place to have a persian food experience. Even if the service is not that good and even if I was disapointed by the barg (lamb skewer). But my favorite persian dish Gormeh Sabsi was perfect and I recommend anyone to try this stew. Real persian style fantastic rice: light and fluffy, I can eat a pound of this rice (actually they should make a bigger serve).
But better keep some room for the surprising and delicious desserts. i don't remember the names but we tried three of them, all differents and very fine cuisine!

Decided to give Saffron a try for a last minute dinner on Sat night, since we were in the area. It was about 20 mins before our order was taken but our food came out quickly afterwards. The eggplant dip was nice and so was the tomato and cucumber salad, but the main kebab dishes were disappointing. Maybe I just don't appreciate the Persian flavor profile, but I found the spice mix really unusual and the overall flavour quite bland. At 8.30 they cranked up the music and a belly dancer came out and danced around the restaurant for quite a while. I know some people like that kind of thing, but I found it tacky and couldn't wait to get out of there. After we left I reread all the fantastic reviews that had convinced us to try Saffron and noticed almost all of the reviewers have only ever left 1 review. Hmmm.

First time here, and I certainly won't be the last. We had the saffron platter for 2 and it wad quite frankly divine. I give this place 4 thumbs up NOMNOMNOM

First impressions ,a bit dead when we arrived for our 7 pm booking ,but guess that's a bit early for a sat night .soon filled up , very cheerful and helpful guys at the counter. Decor a lil bit of a let down but not awful ,you can see they are trying. A big piece of unleavened bread along with a small cheese plate of mint and one small cube of fetta - all complementary , but unfortunately weren't informed how to go about eating it but muddled through regardless. Helpful wait staff , food arrived promptly. Looked fantastic, our waitress mixed up an order but it turned out all right. Some of the best Persian food we have tasted in Perth. Except for the chicken it was a but too dry They even have a beautiful belly dancer , only thing was she insisted people dance with her which made me a little uncomfortable as was just looking for a peaceful dinner. Therefore finished dinner and skipped dessert earlier than intended but I'm sure most other patrons enjoyed it. All in all a surprisingly good night out. Will be returning for the kobbideh mince kebab ,beautiful!

Fantastic food and great community atmosphere. Being the daughter of an accomplished Persian mother cook, I was sure I was in for a disappointment when I visited Saffron. After all, no one makes food as well as mum does, do they?

I'm pleased to say that the food stacked up very well compared to my mother's, and we really enjoyed our meal. Francis, the owner, is a lovely man who really cares about the enjoyment his customers take from their meal. The service is still patchy, but it's not rude or indifferent, which for Perth is something of an achievement.

The decor and atmosphere is fairly unique, and the location itself probably isn't ideal by the Saffron team have done what they can to make it their own. The atmosphere and noise probably isn't helped by the high, unrecessed ceilings, but there's not much that can be done about that. It's also a little bit too brightly lit for my tastes, but the giant chandelier looks nice regardless.

For a table of five, we shared the meat platter for four (a bargain at ~$130 and could easily have fed six) and a selection of traditional Persian stews with flat bread. All were delicious, and the meat was just amazing - no fat, no sinew, just tender, juicy meat. Don't miss the saffron ice cream - it's a real winner.

Don't expect fine dining or white gloved service. Accept this place for what it is - a wonderful example of Persian homestyle cooking - and you'll really enjoy yourself.

It was fantastic :). I have been to Saffron restaurant for several times. I think they are doing as a 5star restaurant and they are trying to give the best service and food to the customers. I have always left there satisfied and happily. I was reading Akbar's comment and I did not find it true and fair. First: in saffron restaurant I have never seen anybody playing keyboard. They just play really nice music clips on their screen. Second: they do not have any salad that is $7. Their Shirazi salad is $8 and House salad is $14.
I think Akbar's comment is about another restaurant or place.
Thank you Saffron for giving such a nice service.

Great Night Out!!!. If your looking for a restaurant with flavor is food & atmosphere, i highly recommend Saffron Fine Persian Cuisine. After hearing positive feedback from work colleges in the area & reading about the restaurant in "Sunday Times" i decided to check it out for myself. Knew it was BYO so brought along a bottle of Red & White Wine :) Right away i felt a warm to the place & coming from an ethnic background, i loved the noise level being its something i'm use to growing up, especially on Saturday night. i went with my partner & our friends & ordered the works pretty much (appetizer, mains, & desert). We started by ordering a Kashk-e-Badmjan which our server told us was a Eggplant dip & Trio of Must which is 3 different type of yogurt dips which was nice to share.... The server also brought out a starting salad which was for free & bread which i can't say many restaurants do these days which was nice of them. For main's we decided we order a platter for 4 which was just delightful. t was pretty much a collections of different traditional styles of Beef, Lamb & Chicken which was so soft & juicy!!! I hate when meat is over cooked for myself personal cause it does take away alot flavors but i guess you could tell them to cook the meat's morel if you prefer. We didn't even get thru our main cause we decided to save room for desert which was to die for!!! Also just in time for the belly dancer who came out around 8:30pm & was fantastic entertainment which the rest of the restaurant really got into, as she pulled people up for a dance. For desert we order 2 mixes of Persian Ice Cream called Bastani which had a beautiful rich tasted tangy lime kick to it & Falodeh which was like a Icey Sorbet. We had a great & memorable night, & we'll deferentially be back here & recommending it to our friends...i found the list of all the foods on the website www.saffroncuisine.com.au by the way

Enjoyable, affordable and exquisite meals, highly recommended for the non-serious diner.

Bit disappointed. I went here after rave reviews from a colleague. I would not take a vegetarian here! There is only one vegetarian dish available as a main - a vegie stack - and our poor friend was told, when they brought out the mains for us carnivores, that they had 'run out of vegetables'. So she ended up eating eggplant dip as a main. I think that (1) they should have told her that she wouldn't get her meal before bringing everyone else's and (2) they shouldn't have then charged her for the 'substitute' meal, which wasn't a main to begin with. Admittedly, Persian food is generally quite meat-centric, but to run out of vegetables is odd.

The carnivorous mains were nice, but bits of them were cold - I'm guessing they hadn't all been prepared at the same time.

That said, the place has a nice family atmosphere and the bellydancing was fun. The staff were friendly too.

FANTASTIC. Alright, firstly you should not go to Saffron on a Friday or Saturday night if you want a a quiet intimate dinner, if you or one of your party doesn't like too much noise... or if you are shy....

Otherwise GO!! The food is amazing, great serving sizes and very good prices. It was so tasty and cooked to perfection.

The belly dancer is just gorgeous and very entertaining.

The staff are all so welcoming and lovely. So important and rare these days.

Such a great experiance, I can not wait to go back!

Still quiet in April 2011. My understanding is he imported the chef and the bread machine. The food at present is excellent but the restaurant is not busy. It is a little of the beaten track and Perth has a history of Persian cuisine struggling ("Persians" can eat at home and the aussies don't understand it). We are trekking across town most weeks working our way through the menu. The prices are good for the starters/stews but the grills use the proper nice cuts of meat and more what you expect for this standard of food. Hurry in to try things (as they may need to trim the menu) and help keep a good meal option going.

Perfect!!. Went there last night with the family, great new restaurant with a hands on owner. The service was exceptional. The owner himself seated us.

The food was awesome, very authentic. We had the platter for 4 as the mains, it was huge! We struggled to finish it.

Great atmosphere in the restaurant, they have done the place up well. And its BYO!

Thanks guys, will be back

I’m very pleased that this restaurant is brightening up our local area – the food is great, affordable, and the service is friendly. Definitely a good thing to have only ten minutes away!
