Review Kc's Grill And Chill - Perth

Really good food. Friendly service. No split billing. Did not cater well for a "big" (9 people) group. They didn't have the salmon meal which two of our party had planned to order, but were then not able to cater for changes to another meal - because we were a big (9 doesn't seem that big to me) table. I feel that considering they didn't have the only fish option on the menu, they should have been open to making changes on another meal. Also it would have been preferable that the staff let us know at the start that they would not split bill.

The food was really good, very tasty. The service could've been better given the restaurant was fairly quiet. We had to remind staff of our drink order about half hour after we ordered them as the food had been served.

Slow, average, no atmosphere. Impromptu birthday dinner here 28/08/2017 as it was almost the only place open on a Monday night in Victoria Park that wasn’t a pub. Service was so slow, despite there being only 4 tables to wait on. 1 girl was new so didn’t understand all of the menu, but was slow to initiate ordering, didn’t suggest drinks when others in the group arrived and didn’t come to refill drink orders during the sitting. Food arrived and it was average. The fitout of the place was a bit unfinished, the music played in a loop, the same playlist of the reggae that was promoted was maybe 8 songs on repeat. Dessert was overpriced, I had the sweet potato pudding, it was nice but it had obviously been reheated and not cooked at the time, and a measly icy ice-cream was on top. I did not finish it. Based on this experience I would not go back or recommend when there are so many other places to try – just not on a Monday.

Bad and late service
Food did not taste right
It was over priced
Music was too loud. It is not a bloody night club why the volume is so high I did not understand
Not my choice of food
This was a fun little place on a sunday evening to try something new. We shared a few entrees between us to try a variety of Caribbean dishes. The staff were very friendly and attentive. They made the experience a tad more enjoyable than the food. Don't get me wrong, the food was not bad, it just lacked a wow factor. The Caribbean wings had a good proportion of meat on the bone, but I felt that 3 wings for the price was a little on the small side. The fish entree was the best dish. Well proportioned and tasty. The lentil entree tasted a bit average and could have done with more spicy mayo. I may return to try the mains one day!

First timers to Jamaican cuisine and we weren't disappointed!
Entree was tasty (Caribbean sticky & jerk BBQ chicken wings), mains were also enjoyable (Braised Lamb & Jerk Chicken Boucane).
Desert consisted of Sweet Potato Pudding & a Chocolate Chilli Fondant .
Sizes for all was adequate.
Customer service was fantastic.
Very good for a change in cuisine.
There's no reason why we wouldn't be back!
Enjoyed.
An impromptu Friday night dinner brought us to ka'ribbean corner with our 3yo and 6month old. We had been wanting to try this place for a while.
We were interested in their Street food menu so we tried the Jamaican patties, bokit a side of fries and dessert. We found the prices reasonable and thoroughly enjoyed the quality of the food.
The Jamaican patties (similar to a curry puff or empanada) were very tasty with a unique spice/curry mix. They packed a bit of heat which was good. The Bokits were similar to a hamburger, but again with a unique creole twist. The fried bun itself was sooo tasty and actually very light and fluffy to eat. It had beef (brisket I think?) With a spicy creole sauce, lettuce and tomato. The chips were nice and crispy (although my personal preference is for a fatter chip). Then dessert-- a pleasant surprise chili chocolate fondant with allspice ice-cream. Very decadent and cooked just right. I love cloves so the spice ice-cream was the perfect accompaniment.
In addition, the staff were very friendly and helpful.
We look forward to returning to try more Caribbean delights. Thanking you :)
Despite the mixed reviews, we went ahead to try this Caribbean restaurant. Not that I ever eaten or travel to Caribbean but the foods are not to my liking at all. Small portion but big price.

Delicious food! We especially love the sticky wings, the goat curry, the jerk chicken, and dishes are served with a beautiful fragrant coconut rice - yum! Cool tropical coloured funky decor too, and good service.

Terrible. Where can I start. When we asked the waiter where our third dish was, he basically said 'no u didn't order that, I read the order back to u' implying that we lied. Worst service I've ever experienced, food was average at best. Do not go!

Amazing! The restaurant décor was rustic yet classy, and the reggae music just set a mellow mood. The food was sophisticated yet authentic Caribbean in flavour. The menu had offerings for all palates and the service was excellent. Definitely a must visit place

Have been here a few times and the food is always amazing! Last night I had the Bon Bon Piment (lentil fritters) with spicy aoili to start - they were soo flavoursome and a perfect starter. Then had Braised Lamb with Bajan Macarino Pie (a bit like a mac & cheese) which was tender and had a beautiful sauce, then finished with Chocolate Chilli Fondant with home made allspice icecream - faultless! Everything was delicious. My husband had lamb ribs, jerk chicken, then finished with fried plaintain, salted caramel and icecream and also loved it. Highly recommend this place, the food never disappoints and service is friendly. You really should try some of the great flavours coming out of the Ka'ribbean Corner kitchen!!

Came here for the breakfast launch and was very impressed with the food! Although we've never had carribean cuisine, this definitely set standards high. We were the first people in...(thought we'd get there nice and early for a 7am feed) and to our surprise no one came in even an hour after we left. Being the first breakfast launch (and on a Sunday), I gathered most people are still snuggled up in a warm bed.

We ordered the jerk chicken with apple slaw and red velvet waffles, pulled beef on onion/tomato grits with poached egg and smoked mushroom hush puppies with guacamole and creole salsa. Added a carribean tropical juice which had a cinnamon stick and aniseed for added flavour and garnish. YUM YUM YUM!! Seriously guys...you HAVE to atleast try this place. The meat was moist, smokey and seasoned perfectly. I've had my fair share of pulled beef and most have been too salty but these guys know their meat! Honestly, probably considered a "heavy" breakfast but if you're into big wholesome breakfasts and real food, you HAVE TO come here. Only constructive criticism I have is to change the bowl for the hush puppies to something flat like a plate- makes it easier to dig into 😃

Great little hidden gem in Victoria Park...OH and they have loyalty cards- BEST THING EVER!

Keep up the great food guys and looking forward to dining with you again very soon!

First time trying carribean food, so I was pretty excited. I ordered the lamb, however I was a bit disappointed as there was more bone than actual meat. However I may consider trying something else next time.

Incredible food. Straight fire.
Hats off to the wait staff also - great people

These guys are on to a good thing and I hope more people can experience the fantastic food.

Reviewing a restaurant as in scientific methodology you need a benchmark, the Ka’ribbean Corner obliges fittingly. Absolutely the worst food I have eaten in Australia, that includes roadhouses in the outback at 2am in the morning, dodgy kebab shops, lock-up, grimy Asian takeaway food, sandwiches with curled up crusts from servo’s etc., yes the ‘Ka’ribbean Corner’ beats all those down to claim the crown. A hideous extravaganza of overcooked nee burnt tasteless deep fired everything, not a hint of any Caribbean flavor, in fact any flavor, served cold for that extra special touch.

Began well with a tasting trio of infused rums ($15), descended into Dante’s Inferno when the food arrived. Hot wings turned out to be, well cold actually, tasted of old oil (probably salvaged from the bilge of some West Indian steamer), burnt and truly truly hideous. A poor backstreet KFC copy made by a meth addict with social rejection issues. Second course was a Chicken Jerk, cold as per normal, and tasteless. All in all $32 dollars, probably the most pointless waste of money, second only to the Helicopter I bought, which never really flew, and recently gave to the grandson of the neighbor.

“food that stops you in your tracks and makes you smile” from the website, well I am not SMILING.

I absolutely loved this place! From the traditional decorations and uplifting French Caribbean music to the colourfully dressed and very friendly owner, I think we need more places like this!
It would be a great place for a big group/party.
The food was fantastic! Every dish we had, had a unique flavour to it. The salmon was so soft and flavoursome, the lamb fell off the bone and I don't know how to explain the Salt Fish Accras because it was a flavour I've never tried before, but they were delicious and perfectly fried with a unique peanut sauce.

First time we went the chicken was overcooked and had way to much char which made it hard to enjoy. Decded we would give it another try and went to the the all you can eat chicken wings night. Stood outside for 25 min before being seated. Once sated we waited another 20 min before getting a serving of wings. We tasted 4 of the 5 flavors of wings and were very dissapointed with all of them. All basically tasted the same, all tasted bland with no real flavour.

ate here last night. got 2 hercules meals to try a few different things and were completely full (were debating whether to get another side or do the all you can eat...). really happy with every dish (jerk chicken, kc lamb, beef stew, sausage) and the sides. keen to come back here and try the wings and burgers!

Ordered via UberEATS, am regret the choice. My portion of prawn curry had 5 prawns in it, and no spice. The jerk chicken had very little chilli in it, and proportionally far too much cinnamon. The meals were not good.

Love everything about this place! Ruddy ( the owner) is super friendly and his food is amazing! We come here for dinner often and also buy his new KC fit meals which are awesome

What a lovely place!!

If anyone is looking for an excellent restaurant and a change from the usual cuisine, then ka'ribbean is the place to go!
for $39 you can get an all you can eat that is just amazing. A beautiful array of foods were dished out, the staff explained that we could either choose which foods we wanted to try or the chefs would just send out plates. I had said I wanted to try the Jerk chick and Curry goat (both excellent), and then other than that for the staff to please bring out whatever they felt like. Which they did!! dish after dish! from salt fish to hot wings to fried beads to coconut rice the list goes on and they were all just amazing! all very different in flavor but all equally lovely.
I would also add that instead of making the food too spicy, what the chefs has done is made them mineral on spicy heat, but they have their in house hot sauce on the table, which is just an excellent idea! so everyone can have their food to their liking. I like my food on the milder side of spice, where as my husband prefers it spicy, so we could both easily enjoy the food exactly how we wanted it.

They are a BYO, but they also have a selection of drinks at the bar, this place is all about ease and relaxing and enjoying your meal, which is exactly what I did :)

For two an amazing all-you-can-eat for $39ea - I don't think there is any where in Perth that can say they have this.

This place is just lovely and I highly recommend it, I'll be going back again soon I am sure!

OMG! Awesome food I will recommend it to everyone. For $39 you can eat everything they have, as much as you want. If you are vegetarian you can find a lot for you as well.

The food at Ka’ribbean Corner was definitely packed with different flavours originating from Africa, Europe, India and Asia regions, along with Ruddy’s home town of Guadeloupe. If there’s one woman who influenced the former aircraft engineer’s style of cooking, it would be his grandmother and the homage to her can be found in the Ka’ribbean Corner’s logo.

We started with delicious array of entrée such as Trinidad Double (flatbread with curry chickpeas), Fire Chicken Wings, Honey & Paprika Wings and Sweet Potato Accras (fritter). Ruddy also provided us with the creole, ginger & lemon and peanut sauce on the side but time and time again I chose the K’C Chili sauce that gave a hot kick for the food.

For our main, we had seven different dishes on our table! My personal favourite was the K’C braised lamb which was superbly tender and marinated well in sweet sauce. This dish came with delicious black bean rice.

Received an invitation from Ruddy the owner of Karibbean Corner for us and a few other foodies to try his food.

It was such a feast that we had. We had flatbreads with chickpeas, fire wings, honey/paprika wings & sweet potato accras for entreé.

For mains we had goat curry, KC lamb (so delicious), jerk chicken, KC chicken and fish.

The mango sorbet was the standout for desserts. Was a great night trying a new cuisine of food :)

Let me say first of all, that we need to support people like Rudy. We need a more diversified food culture in Perth.
I went to this little unassuming place when it was still at Leonard St, and will definitely see them soon at Food Foundry, which has only recently opened, but the memories of this place were strong enough to warrant me to keep an ear to the ground as to when they will be coming back.

My friends and I tried and shared the following:

-Jerk-Boucane chicken

-K’C chicken
-K’C lamb

-Callalou rice
-Coconut rice and peas

Let me say that very rarely would I be able to try jerk chicken, and when I did, oh boy. Tender chicken with awesome bits of caramelization from the marinade that he uses just want you to order a second helping. Seriously, if it weren't portioned appropriately, I would go through 10 pieces on my own. Seriously delicious stuff. The rest of the meats were awesome and moist (you'll see little pools of oils and juices from the meat on your plate that you'll want to mix with your rice), but this was the most memorable.

Now getting to the rice. I'm sure it was the coconut rice and peas (I might be getting mixed up as I was with friends who were taking me to the airport, had a lot to chat about before I left so I couldn't keep my mind on task).

In absence of a better analogy or comparable dish, have you ever had Singaporean Chicken Rice? If you had a good one, the rice is good enough to eat on its own. Moist and full of flavour from the chicken. Or even Nasi Lemak, with the richness of the coconut milk cooked into the rice to make it more wholesome and filling. This was what the coconut and pea rice was like. I could eat it on its own. I was amazed to have this type of sumptuous rice to have with my proteins.

We finished off the night with a coconut sorbet and a cake that he had on a specials menu at the time. I preferred the sorbet as it was more of a refreshing finish to a hot day and a rich meal.

Rudy is an exceptional host as well. Very enthusiastic about his food, he is a fun dude and loves feedback on his dishes and will make sure you have an enjoyable time.

Highly recommend. Food was really good, fast, cheap and tasted really authentic. We tried all meals and didn't have a bad word to say about any.

The accents are pretty good too.

Carribean pop up.. This carribean pop up situated on Leonard Street is a friendly new addition to the Victoria Park dining scene.

Some Mauritian friends of mine posted up about this business on Facebook a few days before the opening so I did have the inside word so to speak.

I had the pleasure of trying the Caribbean chicken madras meal with fries, sweet potato with cinnamon and ginger and lemon sauce matched with a serve of Caribbean cocktail juice (nonalcoholic as they don't have a liquor license at this pop up).

The chicken was cooked to perfection, falling off the bone and had plenty of Caribbean flavours. Add the ginger and lemon sauce and some of the "extra hot" sauce for a bit of kick and this was the complete meal.

I wrapped my dining experience off with a serve of coconut sorbet and I must say, I wanted more.

Very friendly and genuine people, a warm and accommodating venue and great background tunes to set the scene. Rudy the boss is very approachable and more than happy to explain the menu and have a chat. There is however no Eftpos machine at the moment so only cash for now - you have been warned.

I took a serve of Fish A L Ocean home as a takeaway (yes they do takeaway) for Susan. They were accomdating enough to make sure it was cooked fresh for when I left. Now that is service with a smile. I snuck a bite and it tasted decent too.

Come down and support what looks like a promising start up.
