Review Table 78 - Perth

About 2 years ago had a lovely lunch here with yummy food, great service & nice atmosphere so suggested to my office we have a business lunch there today (only 5 people) as it's walking distance and our regular was busy. Waited 40 mins for food which turned out to all be cold, below average and very minimal (we all left hungry) and were very unhappy about paying the high prices before walking down the road to the supermarket for a 2nd course. When we did complain received very poor customer service and were then mostly ignored. Won't be going back, much nicer places for a business lunch in West Perth.

Attended a large party in the Table78 restaurant function room. I had a great time outside as well and the restaurant staff were very attentive and friendly, canapés where really tasty and a good size, will definitely visit this place. Great mediterranean restaurant.

Always a favourite lunch spot with great food and service. I had a group of 8 and we all loved it!!

Had the Korean beef salad, really nice. Plan to go back to try the rabbit dish.

Great food

Basil Fawlty eat your heart out. The experience here was painful: a table of 20 but 70 minutes for entree to arrive with several orders screwed up. No sophistication with content or presentation. Could have come out of a can. Main meal was barely passable: veal with unappealing mushroom sauce and some lettuce greens. Cheeseboard had 'crackers' that were pliable like circles of play dough. This place needs a serious makeover.

Cold restaurant with no atmosphere! Food was shite my 14 year old does a better job! Raw mushrooms in sour cream as a sauce on steak yuck! <br/>Gorden Ramsey needs to visit these guys!!!

This is a very cute restaurant, but it was very cold on a wintery Perth night. Unfortunately, one heater is not really sufficient.<br/><br/>The wine is good, the dessert amazing, but my steak was a little overcooked and chewy.

If it was possible to give a negative rating, I would. Extremely rude customer service, staff standing around doing absolutely nothing. I would never ever return to this establishment.

If you can't cook a steak, especially when the first one has been returned, then you shouldn't be in the kitchen. No wonder you have no patrons on a Saturday night. Terrible experience, won't be going back.

DONT BOTHER. What an absolute waste of money and time. clearly there has been a change in owner because i had heard nothing but good things, and my friend who was a regular was absolutely embarrassed that she had brought us here for a birthday dinner. Firstly we were the ONLY table on a saturday night, which would explain why you would pass the chef on your way to the bathroom who was casually sitting on the couch with his laptop. The women who served us couldn't of cared less that we were appauled at the food. after complaining to her she never left our sight! circling the table until we were finished as if we were going to run off without paying. one of the girls was served a dessert wine that was suggested by the owner as a rose, it was dreadful and the owner refused to exchange the bottle for something else, and might i add they didnt allow for tasting before purchasing as it was by the bottle only so they couldn't give samples. Never seen owners care less about a bad review from a customer. ps don't get the gnocchi unless you like big chunks of canned tomatoes in your pre-bought sauce

Without a doubt the WORST breakfast I have ever had served to me. <br/>Avocado was rotten and hidden under toast and tomato was bad also, very lightly grilled and the bad top placed to the bottom so it couldn't be seen. <br/>Sadly there were no redeeming features. <br/>Avoid this place - there are plenty others to choose from.

Would not recommend. From the deserted front patio to the strange waiter, this was a curious experience. I would NOT recommend Table 78. The waiter was clearly trying, but has no idea about customer service. The food was OK - nothing to write home about. My chicken caesar was huge and my friend's thai beef salad was small and sort of sauce covered. The coffee is undrinkable - do NOT order coffee.

Hidden Cameras?. Had lunch here a couple weeks back with a work colleague and was the most embarrassing experience ever. <br/>Not only did they get my order wrong, no one came to check if everything was okay... WE COULDN'T FIND ANYONE TO CORRECT IT! I asked for the chicken with a side salad if possible. I got a chicken ceaser salad. (at least it was good)<br/>The people at the table next to us also got the wrong food and even at one point were delivered our drinks.We were all joking we must have been on a candid camera show!<br/>Will not be back, save your pennies and time.

Excellent service and great food! <br/>Went in for lunch and was kindly greeted by the waiter and was seated at a table with comfortable cushions. I ordered the chicken sandwich while my friend got the Gnocchi. Both meals came out quickly and were delicious. Will defiantly be coming back!

Not worth it. Alarm bells went off in my head when I was the only table on a Friday night with people. The salt and pepper squid for entree was terrible. There's no flavour, it's swimming in oil and the batter was falling off the overcooked squid. The main was alright but the serving sizes were inconsistent. I ordered the barramundi fillet with a few other people and some of them have huge fillets and some of them have really thin fillets. The steak was all overcooked. The whipped cream that was served with the chocolate tart had already curdled and is just one step away from being churned to butter. Had lots of mosquitoes and the room got really stuffy. And like the serving size inconsistency, some got really big slices and some got such a thin slice it's ridiculous. The coffee was watery and terrible too. Wouldn't go back there if I had to pay for it. That being said, the lady that served us was really polite and nice.

What (awful) experiences! I.... What (awful) experiences!<br/>In my long years of dining out, I have NEVER had such an experience - not once, but twice!<br/>Like many others (too many, apparently) we had breakfast vouchers - one for 2 people, the other for 4 people. We used the one for 2 people first, perhaps 3 months ago. From the moment we arrived at the (empty) resto it was apparent that the lady in attendance (later found out she was the manager) was having a 'bad day' - decidedly unfriendly and not disguising at all how she felt about 'those voucher people' - how they only came for a cheap feed & wouldn't come back anyway etc. Given her abhorrent attitude it's no surprise that no-one comes back!<br/>We seriously thought about giving away our 4 person voucher, but couldn't think of anyone we disliked enough to give it to. So instead we went back yesterday morning with three of our friends - surely she would have left by now, she was so obviously unhappy working there. But no... we were blessed to be unwelcomed by the same grumpy unfriendly 'manager'! Resto was empty again (how surprising?!) & she was clearly annoyed at having to open up for pesky 'voucher diners'.<br/>The food - OK but unfortunately tainted once again by her distasteful behaviour, which overwhelmed any positives in the experience. <br/>Our overseas guests were aghast and we had to reassure them that EVERYWHERE else in Perth had more friendly service. They thought they were on Candid Camera, or in a remake of Fawlty Towers!<br/>Glad we don't have a third voucher and, yes, we are going to be two more of those despicable 'voucher diners' who NEVER come back!

Breakfast very average. Apparently owners have changed. I had breakfast here using a living social voucher and it was very disappointing. Ordered the Big Breakfast.The hash browns were deep fried packet hash browns, I asked for Rye toast and they forgot and brought out sourdough...there was hardly any Vego option. The tomatoes and spinach in my meal were tasteless. I asked for my eggs to be well done and they came out runny. <br/>Dissapointing when you pay for something that you can do better at home...

My partner and I had our wedding reception here and our family and friends still rave about the food even after all this time. Staff were very attentive to all our guests requests and the atmosphere was just brilliant. Table 78 is the perfect spot for a large function or even a quiet lunch.... Thumbs up

Breakfast. We had the big brekky breakfast. Big portions and good value for money. The bacon was overly salty otherwise it was good. We were served quickly and the waitress was friendly and courteous. Don't recommend coffee as it was very bitter.

Blue swimmer crab. It was just pasta and garlic - for the price I was expecting crab hunks not just bits - u couldn't even taste the crab. Very disappointed

Good service and good food! <br/>I bought a our deal brekkie deal for this restaurant and was not disappointed at all! I was uncertain about trusting our deal offers because it seemed too good to be true. But I am glad I did! The staff was super friendly eventhgh we arrived 5mins before the breakfast menu ended she was not angry at all but super friendly. <br/><br/>The environment was really homie and artistic. The food was surprisingly really good too! The serve was huge! I couldn't finish one big brekkie myself and everything was cooked to perfection. The coffee was spectacular too!<br/><br/>Will defs be making a return to this little cafe by the corner :)

FANTASTIC EVENING. My fiance and i have been to Table 78 twice now and loved both times we have been the food came out promptly the service was fantastic and i love how the menu changes. The building has great character and the staff are friendly. We loved this restaraunt so much we booked it as our venue for our wedding reception. We were very happy customers.

Worth it!. I have been reading the reviews for this restaurant, most of them have been positive except for yesterdays so I didn't know what i was getting myself into. My partner and I had a full course meal, entree, lunch and desert. All I can say was my experience was amazing! I don't know what happened yesterday (maybe had a bad day, which happens) but i loved everything about it from the food and atmosphere to the service. Will defiantly recommend this restaurant to all my friends. Thank you for the lovely afternoon.

Below average. Dined here for lunch, and admittedly it was on a scoopon deal, but they still could have tried. Aside from (eventually) taking our order, then delivering our meal, the service was non existent. One of the waitresses looked like, and certainly came across like, she didn't want to be there at all. I noticed another waitress delivering food to the wrong tables, and considering there was not a lot of people dining, I thought this was appalling. You thought they would have tried to 'upsell' us to more drinks, a side dish or even dessert, not that I would have ordered any, as the mains were well below average. My Korean seared beef salad was bordering tasteless, yes I ate it, but I was extremely hungry. My dining partners crab linguini was passable, but nothing to right home about. In short, will not be back. What places like this need to realise is that with so much dining competition around they still need to perform on a 'deal', because if you're anything like me, you'll definitely go back and be prepared to pay full rate on something that's worth it.

Lunch - Terrible!. Terrible, Terrible, Terrible...both Service and Food. Worst food I've had in Perth all year!!<br/>Well I haven't been to this end of town for some many years...and I was looking forward to a catch-up luncheon with my girlfriend (who has just moved to WP for work). So we decided here, as it use to be good...Please don't waste your time nor money.

Very dissapointed. I was really looking forward to dining here. It was my partner's birthday and he was looking forward to ordering the pork belly. And that dish was not available. The menu was very limited! He decided on the meatballs instead as a main. There was only 4 meatballs on the dish! We were very disappointed. My prawn pasta was normal, nothing great. We had ordered fries to share, and even that was a dissapointment! I could get better fries at Maccas or HJ's! They were thin, and the bowl was filled with small tiny crispy bits, instead of proper fries! It said to be served with aioli, instead it came with ketchup. We looked through dessert, and the one we wanted (semifredo) was also not available, and non of the cheese selection either. We made up our minds and left without having any dessert. The staff were friendly, but the quality and sizing of the dish was very disappointing. And the menu was also very limited. I don't think I'll be back again.

Fantastic experience. My friends and I went down for lunch and absolutely loved it! The food was fantastic and the service was wonderful. Being in an heritage listed home made the atmosphere to die for. The chocolate log would have to be one of the best desserts I have had! We absolutely enjoyed our time, we will be coming in again.

Disappointed. I was really looking forward to coming here because of the high rating, but the steak was over done, side dishes were limited, orders were mixed up and the restaurant was full of mosquitoes

Beautiful food, attentive staff. Louder ambient music would make it easier to have private conversations with table guests.

Always a great meal. Love this place and it's always at the top of our list. Staff are always friendly and offer great service. <br/>Food is great for the price you pay (which isn't very expensive at all) and it's always of a high quality and standard.<br/>If you want modern food at a great price, high quality and well presented. Then make the effort to go!<br/>Haven't had a bad meal.

Where is the goats cheese?. Been to Table 78 a couple of times for Lunch and the food is generally very nice...but for a Lunch menu, it is very expensive.<br/>On my most recent visit, I had the pear and goats cheese salad. However the goats cheese only existed in small amounts as a dressing. The menu item should state goats cheese 'dressing'. Quite misleading, and I must say, without much goats cheese a very expensive 'special' price of $20.

Food was great, mixed up or got wrong the cooking of the steaks though. I wanted medium to rare and got medium, my wife wanted medium and got medium rare. The waitress could have done more, did not show any interest when we queried whether we had the right steaks. She should have asked why we were asking. Enjoyable setting, nice food, didn't quiet get that service other reviewers have raved about. I don't like the separate pricing of vegetables to main meal, just give us a whole meal price and let us choose accompaniments, that seems more transparent to me.

Best place to eat in perth. Great service, superb food, fantastic atmosphere. Love it. Pricey but worth it. They serve the best barramundi in Perth

I had lunch today at Table 78 - a very busy restaurant this time of year! I had the Rib-Eye, rare! Has got to be the best steak I have had in over 5years! Fantastic! Great service and wonderful food quality!

Can't do enough for you!. My husband and I have visited this restaurant many times and it's always fantastic. The trio of choc is my personal favorite!<br/><br/>Recently the chef and owners were very helpful in designing a special menu for my brothers 30th Birthday which was nothing short of the best meal we had ever had. Everyone at the table could not wait to see what would come out in the next course. <br/><br/>I can not recommend this relaxed little venue highly enough. My advice, go in a small group and after the work crowd has departed and enjoy your night.

Quick service & great food!. There were 16 of us today at lunch on a relatively busy Friday afternoon. We had all pre-ordered and were very impressed that the food nearly instantly came out. At other places in West Perth that we've pre-ordered at, the food has still taken up to an hour to be brought out. So we were all very impressed at how speedy the food was brought out. The food was also very tasty and well presented. I will definitely be going back there again.

Just went for lunch with a group of 6 and the food was fantastic with service to match. Will definitely going back.

I went for dinner for my Birthday. We had private room to our-self and waiters were very kindly and helpful. I must admit the food was worse than some take away food lunch bar. I had duck confit, it was salty as and duck was over cooked, tough and dry. Duck is one of the hardest meat to cook in perfection. Other dish were mix of salty and not enough seasoning. Side dish for the main are $9 and mash potato were plain as plain can be. I'd rather eat mash and gravy from KFC. On top of that they charged us $28 for BYO cake charge. <br/>Is this a joke? I didn't find it funny.

Not convinced. Judging by everyone else's reviews on Urban Spoon, my colleagues and I must have caught them on an 'off' day.<br/><br/>It was my first time at Table 78 and unfortunatley it wasn't the best dining experience. Granted, we did have a large table booked but the restaurant was by no means busy for a Friday lunch (infact it was close to empty). <br/><br/>11 out of 14 of us ordered the same thing, which we thought would have made the task at hand quite simple. But we were still left waiting 45 minutes before we even saw 1 dish. The meals trickled out (with some people finishing before other meals even arrived).<br/><br/>I had the steak sandwich - as did 10 other colleagues and the general consensus was that it was not worht the price, or the wait! The piece of steak was mind blowingly thin - thinner than I have ever seen and in one half of my sandwich I retrieved no more than a square inch of meat - that was it. The other half was not much better and had I not been so hungry I would have sent it back to the kitchen (as would the majority of my colleagues). We suspect they didn't have enough meat so they were halving the portions for each sandwich, since they didn't have enough turkish bread for our order either!<br/><br/>Service was ok, but inconsistent. Some waitresses were very polite, others just didnt want to be there.<br/>Colleagues had been there a few times before where seperate billing had not been an issue, this time we were made to feel so uncomfortable and told "I'll do it this time but dont expect it next time"....<br/><br/>Fine by me, as I dont think there will be a next time!

Breakfast was pretty good, poached eggs slightly overdone, nice hot drink (not lukewarm like most places). If you are going to advertise your place as gluten free friendly PLEASE have gluten free bread available with breakfast!! It's not hard- we expect it will be from the freezer. We expect it will probably taste not great- it's glutenfree bread!! You can even charge extra- we expect that too!! But it's still nice to have something underneath your eggs!!

Hidden treasure - ticks all the boxes. Great. Have gone to Table 78, 9 times now over the past 4 years with small and large groups and have never been disappointed.<br/>Have ordered huge and small meals and they always deliver promptly, efficiently and the food is fresh and has flavour.<br/><br/>The staff have always been great (as opposed to many waitstaff in Perth who make it a skill to be rude or diconnected)<br/><br/>Their Barrumundi is The Best <br/>and the tasting plates are yummy.

Delicious!. The Share plate starters were delicious. We started with the dips and the olive plate. Both contained really good quality ingredients. My main was the steak sandwich which was great. Turkish bread, caramelised onion, rocket, tomato, garlic aioli and - of course - the steak. So good my mouth is watering just thinking about it! The accompanying fries were a little McDonalds-like but still very good. My dessert was the vanilla bean pannacotta - a gorgeous way to finish the meal. Table 78 sells Matso's beer which is tasty.<br/><br/>The food and drinks arrived promptly so no complaints there.<br/><br/>Overall, a great place to eat. I'm looking forward to going back for dinner.

In the heart of the city yet kindy secluded close to Onix bar the outdoor dining is excellent the service is what I have been looking for looks like someone is doing it right well done oh and well priced

Table 78 was a cool place to go for a work lunch, food was great and service was perfect. Starters are from $7 – $36, mains are from $24 – $38 and dessert around $7 - $15.

Overall, the food was a bit of a hit and miss, but I would give this place another shot. The service, absolutely brilliant, so there wouldn’t be much of a hesitation to come back to see the lovely smiles of the wait staff!
