Review Tra Vinh William Street - Perth

Been going here for Pho for about 5 years on a regular basis. Always consistent and affordable . Great flavours and very generous serving sizes . A great meal for a cold night .

if you come here, You MUST order the Vietnamese pancake and the fresh roll platter (3 people for two dishes). I love this place and their selection of noodle soups. Definitely our regular comfort food that reminds me of home

I think this restaurant is the best vietnam restaurant in the city! I really really recommend "spicy noodle"

After being slightly late for dinner with some friends I was still well received by the staff. I ordered and the food was quick and delicious. I ordered the chicken and rice and I can recommend it.The only fall down here is that they don't have duck on the menu which is a staple in Vietnam
Hung-Yi Loo
Great, clean-tasting food that didn't punch a hole in my wallet. Not too sweet or pungent like some other Vietnamese places. Egg/rice noodles were cooked perfectly — springy and toothsome. Surprisingly generous portions, and we got free tea to boot!
Jasmine Low
Love the food there especially my favorite Pho
Bby REe-Ree
The food is really nice here and all very fresh, hygienic and tasteful.. I would definitely recommend to come and have a meal here for something quick and easy or for a nice dinner with friends and family. 😊
Mechelle Gomez
The soup is fantastic and very well priced. Has become a fav spot.

Food comes out quickly and prices are very reasonable. $11 ea roughly for the food pictured. A regular customer for years, highly recommend 👌🏼🛑 Can pay by card & split bill.

Came for dinner mid week and it was surprisingly quiet. Ordered the prawn rice paper roll and the chicken satay as entrees - both were good. For mains we had the beef Pho soup which was really fresh and tasty, and the seafood fried noodles (very good). Service was friendly and the waitress was very helpful explaining dishes we were unsure about. Enjoyed the tea (in a thermos) here too. Simple decor (plastic chairs and tables) but you come here for the authentic food above all else. Would definitely recommend.

Still my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Perth, complete with the Bourdain essentials: tacky seats, tissue box, sauce bottles on the table, etc that make the experience somehow richer and better.

The food is lovely (and decently-priced), and the restaurant's pho soup base is full-bodied and intensely flavoured. Also a big fan of the house special noodles, dry noodle, bun bo hue, spring rolls, and their creative drinks selection including durian shake (YUM).

Love to go to eat at this Tra Vinh. It is always busy whenever I go there. Drop noodle crab meat is one of my favorite dish as well. I like to drink the 3 color beans drink. Staff are friendly and food are lovely.

For entree we ordered rice paper spring roll with pork. It was delicious, it has lots of vege, pork slices and thin noodles. Go for the brown sauce or sriracha for extra punch. For mains, we ordered the chicken pho and combination pho that comes with beef slices and meatballs. The broth is flavourful and the pho is thin and smooth. We also ordered a black coffee, it is strong and aromatic. Service was good, price is cheap and overall a pleasant experience dining here.

Best pho and broken rice in town for me.
I love no 45. Egg noodle with chicken dry. Chicken is tender with crispy skin, egg noodle tastes homemade.
No 83. Broken rice with pork chop!

They provide complimentary tea too.
Cheap delicious Vietnamese! The oxtail soup is one of their specials and its sensational with so much meat and the broth just plain delish ! Smallish restaurant, the service is quick and portions generous. Definitely two thumbs up 👍👍

One of my favourite places to have Vietnamese food. The pho here is really good. Will also order the rice paper rolls as a side whenever I’m feeling really hungry. Service is fast even though this place is always busy. The hot tea served here is different from other places and very fragrant
Queen Of Bad Timing
Once you’re inside it’s distinctly welcoming. There’s a wonderful aroma circulating the room, with dish after dish hitting the table one after the other. Normally my go to is the beef pho, but there’s some other plates that catch my attention sometimes: the likes of the Vietnamese pancake, fresh rice paper rolls or even the bun cha. All washed down with a lemon soda – a drink that for me, is so distinctly Vietnamese as I had them twice a day when I was on holiday there.

always have nice food here and always love mixed beans drink so refreshing after hot pho
will always go back here when i have time.👍👍👍👍👍👍
One Tonne Experience
Always had a great meal here and the quick lunch I had recently is no different. Consistently great place to have a bowl of pho of its many varieties. This time I had Pho Ga, which is a chicken version because its the dish you have when you feel sick.

Whereas my colleague tried the Seafood Hu Tieu which he throughly enjoyed.

On the other hand would probably stick to the normal Pork & Prawn Fresh Springroll as we weren't a big fan of the Pork Patty Springroll.

Springrolls aside, you come to Tra Vinh for the noodles not for the side dishes.

The delicate and slow cooked broths are the key to a great vietnamese restaurant and Tra Vinh in Northbridge tends to succeed very well.

Food was OK but the attitude of staff was very poor. They were very angry in the attitude and it was like we owed them for eating at the restaurant. This restaurant is not the only Vietnamese restaurant in Perth and their attitude should be better.
Mary Tan
Authentic Vietnamese fare in a casual setting. Average value for money as the portion sizes were sufficiently filling, though not generous either. Service was efficient. I had the pho with raw beef and tripe which was flavourful and warming on a rainy winter day.
Danelle Lim Yun
Really good pho and noodle dishes. The prices were cheap and affordable. The beef pho broth was slightly different from the pho that I'm used to but it was still pretty good.

Have been here for lunch and dinner twice before, and food was nice ,however Sat night was the worst food I've had anywhere in a long time. From the satay chicken that was so overcooked you couldn't even chew it, the bottle like satay sauce was terrible, the watered down spring roll dipping sauce, the bland with no chilli Lemon grass beef/rice dish, and to top it all off, found a fish bone in the rice, so so disappointing, and the lack of patrons should have sent alarm bells. Will not be returning.
Finleyhimawan
Had a really good and value for money dinner. The spicy soup is one of the better one we've had and the crispy chicken is good too. They generally have it with rice noodle but they're flexible enough and able to change the types of noodle for you. Service was quick and no fuss. Perfect pho for a cold night!

Fast service and friendly staff. You will see lot of sauces/ condiments park on eating table, which those you can mix and match when meal comes. We ordered one beef soup pho, fried chic dried noodle and pair of pork slice spring roll. I fond of beef soup personally, not too salty, not too strong flavour, just fine. Texture of fried chic skin is crispy, the meat isn't too dry but juicy n tender. Pork spring roll, ingredients are fresh but I think the rice flour paper a bit thicker and chewy.

When I got there the place wasn't too crowded, but later on it got busier. I ordered 'Drop noodle with crab meat' and honestly to me the food was just average. It took me 15' to wait for the food, not too long but judging by the fact that at first there weren't many people waiting and by reading the comments saying how quick the service here is, it's a bit disappointing. Not too bad a choice for cheap dining but not too great either an experience.

Stopped by for a late lunch, the service was nice and it didn't take long for the food arrive. I ordered the beef pho, prawn and shredded rice paper rolls.
The ingredients were fresh and the overall very delicious! Ticks all the boxes :) I'd definitely come here again.
Renato
Friendly people and clean restaurant (for cheap & cheerful). The pork spring rolls were nice and the Vietnamese pancake was impressive when it came out. Despite the good fresh salad and herbs and nice nam pla, the pancake itself lacked enough pork and prawn filling - it was mostly bean shoots. As such, the flavour was a bit missing. My friend had crispy chicken and fried rice, which he enjoyed.
Alfred
Been here for a few times now, lunch and dinner. Love the pork chop broken rice and the pork hock egg noodle soup. Consistent quality and service. Tried the entree this time and quite value and delicious.
Kenny
Always quick, always tasty, always good. You can tell by the regulars who go their weekly. Fresh, and great value. Try the chicken egg noodle soup #44 or the pork prawn pancake.

Came here with my mum excited to try some tasty authentic vietmanese food. Was a bit disappointed, the pho lacked flavour, the vermicelli was good and the rice paper rolls were good. It didn't have that kick of flavour vietmanese food should. I have heard the one on Brisbane street is better so I will try that next time! #goodfoodofperth

Went here with a vietnamese friend who approved this restaurant. We ordered the broken rice and pho.

The broken rice was good. He thought it has similar taste with the one he had back in his hometown. I tried the pho, while it was not the best broth i have ever tried, I would say it was decent enough. The thinly sliced raw beef was really nice.

The service was within appropriate time and the price was okay. $12 for an appropriate size. Definitely worth the money.

Came here for dinner today wih the family cos' little princess likes the Vietnamese stuffed chicken wings. We always go to the Vietnamese stall in Subiaco market whenever we are there but as we were in the city today, we gave this place a go. We ordered the raw beef pho, the beef ball pho, the chicken wings and the rice rolls with chicken. The wings and rice rolls arrived before the pho. Both were tasty though I do find that $9 for 2 stuffed wings was a bit pricey. I was most surprised when the pho arrived cos' though it came in a big bowl, the amount of noodle in it was just a handful. It is not worth the $11 that I paid for it. I had thought that between the 3 of us, the dishes ordered would be enough but it was not so. The pho was sadly lacking noodles. The broth was great tasting though. We had to order another pho otherwise we would still be hungry after we left. The food came out quick as the other reviewers have mentioned. The service from the wait staff is good.
Michelle Chen
The Vietnamese food here was pretty average, nothing outstanding. The fried chicken was very bland and dry. Pho tasted more of MSG than beef. The bun no hue tasted slightly better than the rest. I did not enjoy dining here.

Super speedy meals came out after we ordered! Great price and loved the BYO. Good place to come for some cheap eats in northbridge that isn't too busy.

As a hunter of fine Pho, I'm happy to have found Tra Vinh. Way better than any Pho in the burbs but does have good competition in the area. A quick walk from downtown NB and free tea is always good. The non stingy mix of basil and mint is uncommon in my locals as well as getting plenty of chilli and sprouts. I'll be back...
Scully
Had a really good, no frills experience here.

Service was sharp, we were seated promptly, able to order quickly and the food came out in no time at all. Which was just what we were chasing.

We had the traditional pho and it was delicious. Great value for money! $11 for a huge bowl of noodles and broth with plenty of meat. One of the better phos I have had in Perth.

The decor and set up, as most have already said, isn't great but it didn't feel dirty like Viet Hoa down the road.
Will definitely be back!

Service was bad. We ordered first but a few tables later than us got their orders served first. Food isn't that great and if you know Vietnamese food, it's not authentic. Won't be eating here again.

Looking for comfort food so decided to tried out tra vinh at william st. The service there is great !!! Friendly and prompt. A little disappointed at the noodle cause the soup a bit to cool. Would be different if it's come piping hot. The stuffed chicken wings are over floured but nevertheless is quite tasty.
Jonathan Kwan
Ordered the tra vinh special instead of the usual pho.

Service was acceptable

Food: 2/5 too salty with too much sauce and msg. Left with a dry mouth. Chicken was over cooked. Won't came again.

Value: 1/5 $12 for a bowl of noodles is fair but $1-2 surcharge for card is outrageous. Daylight robbery.

Overall better restaurants. Take the walk to Viet hoa it is nicer. Hence is full of people.

Whenever we feel like quick and cheap Vietnamese food, we usually to go either Phong Vinh, Lido or Tra Vinh at William St. Since Phong Vinh has closed and Lido do large dishes (to share) better, we now only have Tra Vinh to go.

Why we like TV:
~ Efficient service (not extremely friendly, just enough to keep you happy)
~ Free hot tea
~ Food comes out fairly quick (usually less than 10mins)
~ Nicely made broth
~ Generous amount of noodle and toppings.

If they can maintain whatever they are doing now, we will always go back to TV for comforting Vietnamese meals for sure.
Didn't know there was a branch of Tra Vinh on William Street in Northbridge until recently. We had the Raw beef and beef ball pho which was quite tasty. I also ordered the Banh Xeo, it was huge but filled mainly with beansprouts. Was slightly disappointed with however love the salad that came with it.
Cassie Tanadi
Overall average service but good food. Love their pho, spring rolls and broken rice. Place can get quite busy so it's good to come in early.

Best Viet restaurant I've been to so far! Super quick service and food quickly served! Have never once disappointed and the flavour was always up there.
Love the noodle soups and how fresh the veggies are, chicken also tasted amazing
The portion that you get for $11.50 is so impressive and such an amazing restaurant!
Baristar
this could be my new favorite vietnamese restaurant now. food was very authentic vietnamese and the portions were so generous. good value for your money. loved my vietnamese coffee too. will definitely be back for more soon :)

Quality gone down!. Used to be my Favorite place to go for beef pho. Very disappointed with the Combination Beef pho soup I ordered at Lunch yesterday . The soup was tasteless ie bland like hot water !! There were less ingredients and some of the beef slices were very fatty! I guess I will hv to try TOTO in Vic park next time for my beef pho fix.
Fingercross
Mixed experiences. Big portion and love the food.
Not attentive services at all

Went here because of good rating. The lady who serve me very unfriendly. The food that I ordered a beef rice noodle stir fry was oily and very mushy. They dont taste good either. Dont want to go back again :(

No I don't want your mistake.. We usually visit the Tra Vinh on Brisbane Street, however decided to visit the one on William St to try it out. I got to say I don't really expect much exceptional service from cheap eateries, however today just made me don't want to return at all.

We were seated 2 metres from computer which they place the orders, instead of coming to our table the waitress decided to stand there and asked if we are ready to order - more convenient for her so she didn't have to write our order down. She finally came to take our order after she realised she couldn't hear us.

Food was ok.... my pho was a bit bland and raw beef was fully cooked when it's supposed to come out rare. My partner ordered Braised Beef with egg noodles which took a while to come out, and I overheard the waitress speaking in vietnamese to a staff member who was eating his lunch saying that he took the braised beef intended for my partner instead of his which had a different sort of noodles in it. Instead of fixing it, the waitress bought the dish over and said "oh, we put the wrong noodles in" with the intention that he would accept it any ways. However my partner said no he would like the ones he requested... she got annoyed and stormed off and told off the worker who supposedly took the wrong dish.

Partner didn't like his dish - bland as he described it.

I won't return to Tra Vinh on William Street - I probably go back to the one on Brisbane Street (maybe), even though they're the same owners staff up on Brisbane St seem much better than William Street store.

Regular. Always a "safe choice" when going out for dinner with friends, great food and good prices!

Cheap meals for the kill. Quick, flavoursome and cheap meals. Perfect for an early after work dinner meet with friends.
What's not to love?

Good pho, very cheap meal at $11.50 for the pho, it was waaaay more than I ever possibly could eat in one sitting so be prepared for big portion sizes on that front. Delicious and fresh ingredients.
Blessame2376
Service needs improvement!. Vegetables are brown, not fresh! Service is not so friendly!

Small little place, needs some TLC. But the food is really nice at a really good price too.

Came around 8pm on a Sunday night, place was quiet. Good, fast service - food came out out quickly. My duck braised noodles was a little too salty, prefer Viet Hoa's.

One of my fav restaurants in town. Great value & good quality food. Raw beef pho noodle soup and fried chicken egg noodle are stand out dishes. No fuss quick & reliable.
HorseOnToast
Best Value Noodles This Side of Marrickville. Really really good noodles and general dishes for prices I haven't seen in Perth since 2004. Do the $11.50 egg noodles and fried chicken!

Best damn pho

Good Pho!! Thumbs up! Shop needs a bit of a make over.

Wont return. The food here is delicious and its extremely cheap however I just cant get past the service which was virtually non existent and extremely bad. Add another staff member and this place would be the bomb.

A cheap meal for two isn’t always easy to find in Perth. However, $35, at Tra Vinh on William Street, will get you a huge make your own rice paper roll set. You’ll get grilled pork, sugarcane prawns, grilled beef, rice noodles, pickled vegetables, Vietnamese herbs and tasty dipping sauces. Between the two of us, we got through ten before we gave up in (actual) gut-wrenching defeat. Delicious! 301 William Street, Northbridge

One of my all time favourite dishes here is the Bún Riêu, which is a Vietnamese rice vermicelli soup in crab and tomato broth. I don't know what it is about this particular dish, but this is the only thing I would eat whenever I go out... second by Bánh Canh or Bún Mắm whenever possible. I am not a Phở girl, maybe because Phở originated from the north of Vietnam, while I am from the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam, hence I tend to like the food around this area more
