Very authentic Taiwanese food, just like those in Taiwan night market. An absolute hidden gem in the area. Very pleasant surprise.
You can’t go wrong with a meal for ~$12. Plenty of chicken fried FRESH with pickled veg and a generous helping of rice... I’ve managed to get my coworkers obsessed with this place too. The only comment I’d make is to add more vegetables! Otherwise fantastic food for the price.
Diner One in Willagee is exactly the kind of spot I wish had been open when I was still a student (and still skinny enough to enjoy unhealthy food like this regularly). It has the perfect combination of being both cheap, hearty and tasty. The place serves Taiwanese style food, including yummy fried chicken breasts, fried chicken pieces, fried octopus balls, fried squid tentacles, fried mushrooms, fried fish tofu, fried mantou buns with condensed milk… You get the (very fried) picture.

Went in on a soggy night after reading various reviews and was not disappointed. The welcome was cheery and enthusiastic to this rather bijou venue. Menu is short, to the point and focused on Taiwanese comfort food. The chicken breast was simply brilliant - crisp on the outside and juicy tender on the inside. The brisket was equally good, soft and melting yet not completely falling apart. The flavours were simple, the dishes were well executed and the price was just right. Next time I'll try the pork tripe.
I love the restaurant. I noticed it since 2014 and I kept having my dinner almost once a month. Boss is nice, food is delicious, and it's not expensive at all.
taiwanese chicken breast is a favourite here - usually not a breast lover, but this one is juicy, not tough, cooked perfectly with a fantastic batter. Their snacks are also pretty good. Beef brisket noodles is one I like too. Bubble tea has been a popular option among friends too!
Local Taiwanese Cafe restaurant. Cosy and no table service, but the cooking was relatively fast. Had to order the crispy fried chicken - well seasoned, nicely fried and the chicken was juicy. We also ordered the braised beef brisket noodle and the shredded pork noodle. The noodle texture was quite nice and springy, but the brisket soup lacked a bit of depth and felt too diluted - meaning the beef was not marinated enough. The pork noodle was alright, simple and if you add a bit of spice it brought out the flavour better. Overall wasn't too bad, Taiwanese food was always on the lighter side of flavour to me personally.
Diner One delivers delicious Fried Chicken. I'm not a massive fan of fried foods, but I risked it for a brisket, which was a warming bowl of noodles in a flavoursome broth with beef. The others were overjoyed with the fried chicken and it was definitely cheap and generous. It's a very small and sparse setting.
The Taiwanese Fried Chicken here is amazing! The prices here are so reasonable and they give a quite a good portion as well. A nice and cozy atmosphere with friendly staff. I love their braised pork rice as it reminds me of home. For the fried chicken you can put the spicy seasoning yourself so as not to get too hot to handle, very convenient.
Hidden little gem!!!!
First visit and I am already planning my nxt visits.
Ordered braised pork rice and TW chicken breast rice. Everything was good.
Popped into this place for a takeaway lunch today. Ordered the sesame honey chicken rice. This place is pretty small but I have always like small dining outlets anyway. I also like the menu they have, not overly extensive and everything is reasonably priced. I was impressed by the portion and presentation of my meal when it came. The rice and chicken pieces were packed separately; the rice in a plastic container and the chicken pieces in a paper bag. The sesame honey chicken was fried well, it wasn't oily one bit and the batter wasn't too thick that you seem to be munching more of the batter than the meat. They didn't stinge on the chicken pieces which I must say is really a lot for the price paid. The rice came with pickled veges and half a boiled braised egg. I enjoyed my lunch. The price, the portions and the tastiness of the food is definitely a great draw for me.
Braised pork, fried chicken, fried squid, peanut and black sesame rice balls.. all the best things under one roof. Not exactly healthy, but tasty!

Didn't know this place exists until a friend recommended it. My favs are braised pork rice, fried chicken and the fried fish cakes. They are authentic enough for my standard. Reminded me of the times I lived in Taiwan! This is gonna be my regular place for lunches/dinners
Cannot recommend this restaurant enough, the best fried chicken I've ever eaten, not greasy or oily, perfectly fried and large portions for good price. The owners are really lovely and friendly too, very welcoming and inviting.
Well hidden good Taiwanese eat out place. Whenever there is craving for fried chicken on a bed of rice this is the place to be. Generous portion for the price. Their side dishes are pretty good too, as well as the broth of their beef noodle soup. We suspect there are some serious msg at play but to hell with it, anything for fried chicken right? :)

Small little Taiwan cafe where we enjoy the food. Nothing too fancy but we found ourselves always come back to this place.
Food is delicious for asian tongue and reasonable priced. Will always come back here for more.
I was introduced to Diner One by a very excited friend who claimed that he found a really good Taiwanese chicken breast and snacks. So we decided to try it on for one weekend and a group of us really loved it. The place feels really warm and inviting. The owners are husband and wife who are always delightful and friendly. Recommended dish will be squid tentacles, tofu fish, chips with plum powder and Taiwanese chicken breast meal (tried to put some plum powders on the chicken and it was so awesome)! The main meal can be shared as well and I usually shared it with my husband if I wanted to eat other snacks at the restaurant.
I like the simple decoration as well as cheery bright green and orange paint they put on their walls. The only downside was because this place only accept cash, however Diner One was very easy to find and has plenty of parking spot in front and behind of the restaurant.
Yum! Loved everything about this place, from the cute decor to the music and, of course, the food. It's very well priced and delicious. I had the beef soup and my friend the crispy chicken. Both were great. We'll definitely be back!
Tasty deep fried chicken and the deep fried bread are the must try! Many choice of deep fried snacks! Price is low, don't need to spend lot of money to get good value food!

Don't let the little hole in the wall vibe fool you this is a perfect place to pop into for a Sunday lunch.
Food is great value but importantly it's tastey! They have a nice light batter, for all their fried stuff, and they clearly have honed it in. Honestly it's perfect.
We had the fried chicken breast, braised beef soup, and a side of squid tentacles.
The chicken and squid simply can't be beat. The beef was great and the soup was gentle, but with hearty flavours. But don't expect something that's exploding with soy/flavours it was a light soup.
If you love Taiwanese food, then this is place to visit. Great for food you miss. Sausage was great. Limited seating for about max 14. Will be back
Awesome little hole in the wall. The beef brisket noodles were absolutely spot on - we inhaled them too quickly to get a photo! The fried chicken was delicious too. Juicy yet crispy. Would also highly recommend the fried mushrooms and radish cake!
Small little Taiwanese restaurant. Very authentic food with deep fried snacks/noodles/rice/bubble tea and dessert. They did run out of a lot of ingredients like squid and tofu when I ate there yesterday
I actually couldn't find this place at first but it's near the burger/kehab joint
Authentic Taiwanese food, my favourites are Braised beef noodle soup, Crispy chicken breast rice. Best Bubble tea brings my childhood memories back.
